Had a lovely tasting, lots of unique varietals paired with charcuterie. Charming staff and rustic decor, open and airy, perfect for a summer afternoon. A must go if you like Syrah or blush-colored whites. 🍷☀️

Google
Gwenyth poured us some great wines for our party of 4. We were also given a charcuterie plate. We tasted for about 2 hours! We also met Pax the owner. It was our first time and we decided to become club members. The tasting room is very relaxing and she was very knowledgeable about their extensive wines! Before we left a musician began playing as they have music on Friday evenings and they are open until 8 pm!

Google
My group enjoyed a great tasting at Pax this past weekend! The vibes in the tasting room were so chill and mellow, with some gorgeous paintings and perfect music on the playlist. The wines were excellent and offered a great balance of approachability and interest. The Rhyolite Chardonnay was my standout white--I've only had one other wine approaching that particular type of minerality, and it was at my favorite wine bar in Florence so you know the standard was high :) We brought home a few bottles of Syrah as well. I'm most looking forward to building a menu for the Sonoma Hillsides!

Google
Great spot to relax. Comfortable couches inside and relaxing patio furniture outside. Syrahs were excellent. Extensive charcuterie options. Enjoyed the tinned razor clams and the journey man salami. Baguette was heated on order.

Grace Williamson

Google
pax is a great low key place to grab a glass or bottle of wine. Comfy chairs, great music, delicious wine, in a relaxed environment makes for a perfect wine bar.

Google
Absolutely delightful wines but the real treat is how knowledgeable and caring the staff is. Gwenyth is an absolute pro. It’s rare to find people who are as graceful with balancing hospitality, knowlege, and functionality. Karen has done an awesome job making Pax a destination.

This winery is located in the Barlow area in the nice little town of Sebastopol! Nice for a weekend stroll!

Google
Becky absolutely took care of us during our visit. We tried a few chenin blancs along with a gamay noir and were pleased by their smoothness. The bread&butter plate was a nice compliment to help cleanse our palates.

Yelp
Okay, can I just say- I love this place! This is a nice little tasting room within The Barlow and they have some interesting tasting, and sustainably produced wines. Their wines are produced with minimal processing. We have visited here on a few occasions, the most recent after the sip and stroll event. Dawn was great! She was super friendly and helpful. She's just good people, great conversation and knowledgeable. Aside from what's been stated already, the tasting room itself is such a pleasure to visit. It's very trendy rustic, country classy charm. This is a great spot to grab a glass of wine or two or a flight! I definitely recommend if you're in the Sebastopol area.

Yelp
Becky was our host and she did a wonderful job guiding us through tasting some great local wines. We had a wonderful time and the atmosphere was terrific. A cool spot in Sebastopol.

Yelp
Good for natural wines (carbonic maceration). I appreciate that PAX is mindful of green growing practices and minimal intervention wines. While I support organic and holistic farming practices, I will preface by saying that I do not enjoy natural wines. I personally prefer traditional fermentation (where the winemaker adds yeast to control the development of the wine) and so, my reviews are specifically regarding those wines that were made using traditional methods, as I did not drink those made with carbonic maceration. In order of personal preference, my favorite wines from the Classics and New California flights are: 2022 Chenin Blanc, Lyman Ranch 2022 Trousseau Gris, Fanucchi-Wood Road 2022 Pinot Blanc, Dutton Ranch 2020 The Vicar, Grenache-Mourvedre 2020 Syrah, Grizzly Peak The tastings were overpriced ($80 for 2 tastings), but the ambience is nice.

Yelp
Pretty cool space in the Barlow! Went on my own for a tasting/tour including charcuterie board, which was one of the best. Delicious cheeses, fig jam, olives. Definitely too much for one person! But no complaints here at all. Pretty extensive offering of reds and whites. Tried several and ended up with Pinot Blanc, Gamay Noir and one of the Syrah's. First time trying Trousseau Gris! Attentive service! Tour is fairly short and is mainly looking around the area where they have the tanks and barrels but interesting nonetheless! Really nice spot if you are looking for a cool wine tasting experience!

Yelp
We came on a weekday so we basically had the place to ourselves. Warm, friendly service and the wine tastings were generous and terrific. Nice charcuterie accompaniment. Very nice people in a beautiful location, particularly under the expansive umbrellas on a warm, sunny day. We will be back!

Yelp
First time visit. Great ambience. Wine was unique and very enjoyable. Definitely recommend.Nice staff, as well.

Yelp
I love the relaxed energy at the winery and wine tasting room that is Pax Wines. One of many wine specific establishments located in the Barlow, which is a shopping, dining and drinking complex located in Sebastopol, California. With roll-up garage doors that immediately greet visitors, indoor seating featuring marble topped counters, bistro tables and chairs, and comfy leather sofas, as well as outdoor seating for those who want a little sun, Pax Wines is welcoming to all who come. I had come to the Barlow complex with a couple friends who wanted to enjoy a weekend of lazily walking around and sitting with a few glasses of wine and Pax Wines was one of the many stops we would make this summer afternoon. After seeing they had their sofa open and available for seating, we were down to peruse their menu and enjoy a few glasses of vino. One of the first things we noticed is that they have plenty of staff at Pax Wines, ready to present us with said menus as we sat, as well as plenty of staff members behind their counter ready to take the orders of anyone who approached. The wine list menu at Pax Wines is filled with wines sourced from vineyards located locally in Sonoma County as well as from nearby Mendocino County, and they are sold by the glass and the bottle, and they have a couple of wines sold on tap as well. When asking our tasting room associate their recommendations, I opted for a six ounce glass pour of their 2020 Syrah from The Bench Vineyard located in Clement Hills, aged in French Oak, with aromas of plums and violet, this medium bodied wine had a subtle peppery kick. My friend opted to order a six ounce glass pour of their 2019 Gamay Noir which is sourced from the Sonoma Coast. My wine cost 10 dollars for a glass, while my friend's wine cost 13 dollars for a glass, and our total bill with tax and tip was a reasonable 28 dollars for two generous pours of wine. We were never rushed as we sipped and chatted for over an hour at Pax Wines. Obviously, a return visit is a must for Pax Wines as the vibe which is enhanced by the vinyl tunes playing on their turntable, this may be the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon sitting around, napping and then sipping some more. With tasting flights for those who make just one stop at the Barlow or wines by the bottle for couples or wines by the glass for individuals, the wines sold here have a nice balanced finish without overloading your senses. With additional selections of local cheese, charcuterie and even tinned seafood such as sardines and octopus, one would feel that you're enjoying a wine pairing in the narrow streets in Europe, instead you're in a modern warehouse district of Sebastopol, California!

Yelp
Place Rocks - Love the wines, true creativity with a deft hand. Pax, Joilie-Laide, and the several other co-working wineries are the Very Current Class of Brilliant winemakers experimenting with what I call Outlier grape varietals- less known however you see them on wine lists and most often the best most fascinating wines of any menu. I love a good Cab sure, but a Mourvèdre/ Grenache wine with depth and complexity is wayyyyyyyyyyy more interesting. Tonight I ran across the smiling very knowledgeable service of Julie, Josh, Lance and all the happy customers- truly bizarre to be amongst these people at below 50 F, more than chilly. Brought my stressful week to the perfect end. Slainte!!

Yelp
Ambiance was great, and the customer service was too. Very cute spot, and the syrah flight is delicious!

Yelp
A few of us went up for the weekend and Pax was on our list. The service was great as we sat at the bar. We all really loved the artwork; If we could afford it we would've bought some. It was a first time for me to try the wine and I was pleasantly surprised. I left with a buzz and a bottle, lol. The whole neighborhood is very cool, new and hip. We'll be back!

Yelp
I had a great time over at Pax for my b day celebration. Both Dan and Daniel were friendly and really knew their wines. As a studying sommelier, I was super impressed with the food and wines. The service was a 10 and totally made the experience amazing.

B M.

Yelp
Least favorite wine tasting of our trip. $40 for a flight of very small pours that were supposed to come with small bites but didn't. Service was overly lax and on par with being served by a random bartender at a restaurant. Sparkling wines come in growlers instead of bottles so can't be traveled with if visiting from out of town. With so many wineries to choose from, why bother?
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! Awesome wine, nice people, great music Trousseau Gris + a cheese plate
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
This place has a real "Cowboy" wine vibe to it. It reminds me a bit of Stolpman (which also makes Syrah) in the Santa Barbara region. Rugged, laid back, not too serious, but good wine. The wine is also reasonably priced and even the non-single vineyard Syrahs are great for the price (the North Coast and Sonoma Coast). The tasting room itself is ok. The snacks are overpriced and the service could be better. I was a little unimpressed by the Barlow in general. But the wine is good, and that's what counts.

Yelp
What a fun little gem! My friend and I were walking around the Barlow trying to decide what to do with our day. We stopped by this winery and they were able to seat us right away! We were sold. We did the basic tasting (I don't remember what it was called but it's the first one listed). Every wine was amazing! The entire staff was awesome and kept tabs on us the entire time. The only thing that was kind of funny/weird, it comes with a complimentary charcuterie plate. However, it is just one cheese and 2 types of meat. When we first saw it we were like "Oh, they must do like a pairing with each wine". Nope, that's all you get. It was our mistake for not understand and that cheese goes REALLY well with the first wine so I can't complain but others should know! All in all, we had a great time and enjoyed some amazing wines we had never heard of.

Yelp
This is my first time at Pax wines and I honestly didn't expect much because we were just strolling around the Barlow and wanted to find a place to sit and maybe some drinks while waiting to get to our dinner reservation later. I was hoping that they would have more food selections but reality check... we are still in the middle of the pandemic and this is already refreshing to be out and about so I can't complain much. My husband ordered us some wine and a small plate item. The chorizo was pretty good + the crackers from Rustic Bakery has always been my fave and they paired well with our Rosé. The outdoor seating was pretty comfortable but it could get a little chilly so we moved to indoor seating area later. The staff members were super nice and attentive. Our waitress was hilarious and patient with us. We had a couple more glasses before heading out to dinner. I'm a foodie but I'm not a wine expert so I let someone else in charge of ordering alcohol for me but all I could say is that everything I had tasted wonderfully awesome and I don't normally say much about drinks ;) Would def come back if we are in the area again! Oh BTW, check out some artworks on the walls and they had some available for sell as well!

Yelp
We visited Pax Winery for a seated tasting. The presentation and preparation was good -- we were all quite pleased. The inside of the tasting room is super cool -- very hip and definitely different than your standard winery. Loved the decor. I wasn't blown away by the wines, but they just were not my style. Nevertheless, if you're interested in a hip place to taste some nice Syrahs, give them a shot.

Yelp
My review is NOT about the wine, or the tasting room - I love Pax wines and visiting their space. I've been here a few times and this time we brought friends, and I came with the intention of becoming a member. Sadly we did not sign up - and did not love our time here because our server was miserable. He seemed annoyed from the beginning, invested no time in talking about the wines and made us all feel incredibly unwelcome.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
This is a fun place to stop at if you are visiting The Barlow. They have a good variety of wines to chose from. The service was very friendly. Decor and seating area was cozy and gorgeous!
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
Our Airbnb host recommended Pax as a good local winery with biodynamic practices. Their tasting room fits in nicely with the other hip shops and restaurants in The Barlow. Dog friendly with comfortable looking outdoor couch seating, and roll-up garage doors bring the outside into their inviting indoor space as well. We shared a tasting and found two bottles to bring home with us which waived the fee. Small snacks available as well. The cheese board and crackers was quite the spread. Service was on the slow side, but we weren't in a hurry. Staff was pleasant. Tunes were good. A nice place to relax with some wine on a nice day.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
They had a nice outdoor space for the tastings, very chill environment. The tasting wasn't as "information forward" as one would expect but if you asked, the server provided the details. Unfortunately, they messed up our take home order and even forgot the shipment order which was an incredible bummer on both fronts. Disappointing.

Lindsay P.

Yelp
Good wines with a large variety. Tasting came with a charcuterie plate, which was great. We really enjoyed our tasting here!

M W.

Yelp
Welcoming and wonderful service! Excellent selection of wines, especially the Vermentino.
google avatar

Kristianna W.

Yelp
Had the worst experience here. Anyone who thinks someone that can't afford the tab is rude. Five of us went to wine taste... and 2 of us left the bar. And we were accused of leaving and not paying our tab. First off. One was smoking and one was using the rest room. Super disrespectful and rude . If your think - 5 women in Sonoma county can't pay a $100 bar tab, you have us messed up. A really rude assumption. Good luck to your bar ..
google avatar

Kira M.

Yelp
Great time here trying a tasting and sitting in the comfortable couch area. The representative who shared her knowledge w us during the tasting was wonderful I wish I had her name to share here! We ended up leaving two bottles we were quite excited to try. Unfortunately they were loaded up in a bag that wasn't quite strong enough and the bottles ended up slipping out through the bottom and breaking on the street! I recommend bringing your own bag.

Yelp
Been with these guys since they were Wind Gap before but now Pax. Such a cool atmosphere here and perfect local place for my wife and I to come to- even living so close , it still always feels like awesome, special get away/date night/hangout spot. Lucky to have a spot like this in Sebastopol.. the live music as well as vinyl selection you can choose from to play something is a fun addition and great. The wine was great from Wind Gap, and now it's great from Pax as well, but a special shout-out to those who work in the location . A perfect crew, attractive personalities and fantastic personal service . They make us feel like VIP members every time . Madeline/Andrew/Alicia (in no particular order)keep it up ... you are why we come back !
google avatar

Cora M.

Yelp
Located in a very new and upcoming area of Sebastopol. Outdoor seating only. The wines are made on site. Both gentlemen were warm and cordial. Wines were of a lighter variety, used a Yelp coupon for two for one tasting!!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Ahhhh I love this place. First wine tasting experience during quarantine and everybody was so nice and safe. We loved our person Casey and I'd highly recommend everybody to come! This little square called the Barlow is adorable and this was my fav spot here!!

Rachael H.

Yelp
Great spot to enjoy some glasses of wine; they were very accommodating with us bringing a birthday cake in and attentive to our needs. Made us feel at home, would go back again!
google avatar

Mackenzie M.

Yelp
A wonderful tasting room, especially if it is hot! They have garage doors that open on two sides of the building, so you get a lovely breeze. They have three different tasting options, as well as a selection of snacks. Tasting fee is waived with two bottle purchase. Their wines are mostly Rhone style, and they have gorgeous labels. A fun little tasting room in the heart of the Barlow!
google avatar

Jenny E.

Yelp
The first time I went to PAX I signed up immediately for their wine club. The wines they had at the time were so delicious and it was a great deal. However, since their wines change frequently (which is fun and exciting) I feel like if I can't swing by and do a tasting first I don't know what to order as my allotment. One star has been removed because I seem to always have a problem with getting my allotment there but it not counting--it might be me, but I also always get a new server when I go in and I was constantly confused about their wine club.
google avatar

Lynda B.

Yelp
Great wine and excellent service. Tasty cheese and crackers. Perfect place to spend a weekend tasting. Taking a few bottles with us back to Tennessee! Check it out!! Highly recommend!! Bring your friends
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Loved it here! Had the rose and not only was it beautiful but it was delicious. Can't wait to come back, super dog friendly
google avatar

Kristen K.

Yelp
FANTASTIC wine, but the $18 calamari is served in a tin and NOT in a big fried basket
google avatar

Brittney W.

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here. We loved it so much that we joined the wine club. We came here when it was wind gap but joined back up with Pax because we love the people who work here and the wine. Good music playing all the time. Fresh air flowing thru. It's such a good atmosphere. I also love that it's one of the few wine tasting places that actually stays open late so you can grab a glass before a movie or dinner.

Tracey M.

Yelp
Had a great tasting with Dan! Great casual spot in the heart of the Barlow. This is our second visit and it was awesome! Check this place out if you're in the area!

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere but service is awful....the staff just chats to each other and never checks on customers...we finally left and went to grav grill
google avatar

Yelp
Went to Wind Gap pick up party - Open House yesterday. We actually had a pick up for Jolie Laide wines, which is the label of the wine made by Scott Schultz assistant winemaker at Wind Gap. The Jolie Laide wines were terrific, the two whites Melon and Pinot Gris were crisp with citrus and tropical. The rose was fruity, lively and savory while the red Gamay was fruity and very gulpable :). We also tasted through the Wind Gap, Pax and Agharta wines which were also very good with a wide range of grape varieties including Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The open house was held in the winery to accommodate the large crowd and besides all the wine there was plenty of oysters (raw and BBQ), beef or tofu sliders and lots of meats and cheeses. If you are coming to taste wine the tasting room up front is very nice and a friendly knowledgeable staff serving the wine. Located right in the middle of the Barlow, great place for a wine stop and lots of food options close by
google avatar

Mavy A.

Yelp
Wind Gap Wines isn't just "another" winery. I highly recommend coming here if you are in The Barlow already and are looking for another glass of Sauv with some friends. Wind Gap Wines is a small tasting room located in the center of The Barlow (if you haven't visited the Barlow yet, you need to come here). They have a few couches to give that relaxed feel, tables and stunning interior design. This winery is known for representing a new style of wine that is more natural. Will definitely be visiting again.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
This place is super cute, loved the decor and wine! My favorite was the new cider they have, very refreshing on a warm day! It's also dog friendly!
google avatar

Yan W.

Yelp
All the stars are probably given for the hospitality and the service. The wibes, environment and decor are great! The hostess are amazing. Honestly their wines are not up to our tastes. They just tastes like water down wines that didn't have any long last memories at all. But for the value, it was a great experience
google avatar

Dennis M.

Yelp
I have been trying to go to this winery for almost a year. Ever since they put the sign up in the Barlow that they were opening a tastinsg room. The winery has been in operation since 2006, and as an urban winery in the Barlow since 2013. Tasting room is right off Mackenzie Street. It has a wonderful ambiance. Classy, country, relaxed, down to earth, Sebastopol, reclaimed barn wood, nice leather couch, and some contemporary design with a great view of the Barlow traffic. Richie was my pourer. He took me through all the wines they had available. I was very excited because I knew this winery specialized in Rhones and Burgundy and a few extras. Even though the winery is in Sebastopol (RRV AVA), most of the grapes are sourced from the windy gaps of Petaluma (Sonoma Coast AVA) (hence the name Wind Gap.) The Petaluma wind gap is probably going to be one of the next AVAs named in Sonoma county, as it draws the nice coastal breezed through a funnel to cool the grapes on hot days. What's unique about the wines is that some of the wines are fermented in egg shaped cement fermenters. This gives the wines a unique minerality. The wines I loved the most was the Rhones 2012 Granache, 2012 Syrah, and a smoky 2008 Syrah. Check it out!

Tiffany O.

Yelp
Dropped in here for a few glasses of wine and had a lovely visit! Friendly service and reasonably priced glasses. Lots of seating and cute decor. When we finished our glasses, we left to check out some other spots, but found nothing as cozy and were shocked at the outrageous pricing. Came back and had a second glass here and it was great. I had some rose and my husband got their apple cider, which was tasty and not sweet! Really glad we gave this place a visit!
google avatar

A. L.

Yelp
I wanted to give this a better review. My brother brought me here because he has come before and wanted to show me this neat up-and-coming area. Unfortunately the wines were not very good and the young lady that was assisting us didn't seem like she really wanted to be there. After we were done we realized it was kind of close to closing time and they shut all the doors. So maybe that had something to do with it. Unfortunately I won't be back.
google avatar

Janine K.

Yelp
Great place nice workers. Very large selection of Syrahs. Local salumi and cheese plates along with a few other snacks. Cool place to chill and enjoy a glass.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Gorgeous tasting room, Madelene (our Tasting Room Host) was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable. She truly made the experience!! We will be back if she's there
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Delicious wine and we love Madeline! She's wonderful, friendly and engaging. My husband and I have not found a wine of theirs that we don't like. I think my favorite so far is the Rosé! We have been purchasing it by the growler :)
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Great spot to enjoy Pax's wines. Relaxed atmosphere with leaner, lower alcohol wines that still deliver on quality and flavor. They offer both well known and unique, lesser-known varietals and all are very good. There is something here for everyone. A must-do in The Barlow.
google avatar

Umesh J.

Yelp
Good wines, friendly staff. Nice tasting room in The Barlow. Cool, relaxed vibe. Wish they comped the tasting with a purchase of one bottle.
