Had a very pleasant experience at Peach Blossoms.
If you are a fan of suckling pig, this is a place to have it. The skin is crispy, just the right amount of fattiness and the meat gets turned into a very tasty ee fu noodle dish where the pork still is tender. FYI, you do need to pre-order it ahead of time.
We had the trio of dumplings (scallops, crab and lobsters) which is an individual serving per guest. I particularly enjoyed the scallop dumpling which is chock full of prawns that are just the perfect amount of doneness. The xiaolong baos were good as well but the siew mai with kurobuta pork surprised me the most of the bunch - so juicy and succulent.
We also had the four happiness set, which consists of a taro puff filled with truffles and quail egg, chawan mushi with scallops and ikura, lump crab meat with lemon and a foie gras peking duck cup. It comes as an individual set as well but honestly, not too blown away by this - looks pretty but taste is so-so, and for $48 per set, you can do better ordering something else… like the stewed beancurd with crab roe and scallops. We were close to being at full capacity when the tofu dish came, but the sauce was so savory and tasted so umami that we had to finish it.
Another impressive dish was the marble goby with crispy scales in a spicy pineapple sauce. The sauce is reminiscent of an assam sauce and very well balanced, but the star is the delicately cooked fish with such a nice crispy skin - a must-order.
All in all, a very good place to have very decent chinese fare.
