Here Are Eater’s Michelin Star Predictions for Houston | Eater Houston

"After nearly two years traveling across 29 states in India and studying Ayurveda, Executive chef Mayank Istwal composes a seasonal, multi-course summer tasting menu that tells a story—recent dishes include a delicate lychee ceviche with yuzu coconut sauce and a creamy sea bass moilee—while the thoughtful drinks program features seasonal chai and a Beekeeper series using honey sourced from neighborhoods within seven miles of the restaurant; the space is also described as one of the most stunning in Houston." - Brittany Britto Garley

Google
Just celebrated my birthday here with my coworkers and I couldn’t have picked a better place to do it. Service was amazing right from when we entered the restaurant up until when we left the door. The food came within 10-15 minutes after ordering and was insanely flavorful. I was especially a huge fan of their House Special Goat Curry which had a nice kick and impressed a vast majority of my friends, including some first-timers to indian cuisine. The staff and waitresses were super friendly and appreciated how receptive they were to our requests throughout the lunch. Highly recommend having a party here!!

Google
We ordered today Vijayawada chicken biryani and Mirapa Kodi starter for dinner the food was really bad. They just added same chicken 65 pieces in the Mirapakodi and Biryani rice and gave it to us. For the Mirapakodi starter they added the gravy part down and just gave the chicken 65 pieces on the top. The food is not at all spicy it’s like mixing the starter in white rice…we couldn’t eat it anything from the order we just trashed it into the trash bin. When we call the restaurant and explained the situation of the food. The person just simply said sorry and next time we will check but what about the price that we spent on the food for today is it the way you react? The person is like ok we should say sorry so that they will cut the call and let go of the situation. Very Very bad experience with the peacock Indian restaurant. Unable to upload the video of the food putting in the trash so adding the photo below and the Raita (curd) they gave with biryani is like very worst.

Google
The staff was so nice there! We got: Chicken 65 Saag Paneer Guntur chicken Garlic naan Special Briyani The saag was very good. And to me, that’s one of my favorite dishes anywhere. It was really good. The chicken 65 was also very well done. Spicy, really flavorful. We’ve had Aga’s too which is fantastic, but this was really well done and different from Aga’s. Biryani was citrusy, well spiced, wasn’t something over the moon but was good biryani. Naan was good. It was a solid amount of naan in the one order of garlic naan. Never had Guntur Chicken before but it was spicy, had a good flavor, was kind of our wildcard pick. We really liked it. Definitely very spicy, not necessarily in a hot way, in a spice way like a lot of good abstract flavors

Google
My second time here and it won't be the last! Already looking forward to the third 😃 Food, service and overall experience was great. Bindu who attentively served me/us was so friendly, her smile was constant and welcoming. A must visit for good Indian cuisine! Chicken 65 and Garlic Naan is highly recommended 👌

Google
Absolutely delicious! The flavors were just amazing, the service was warm, and everything from the naan to the curry was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
the service really elevates this place, woman at the register was so sweet and attentive to us, and gave the restaurant a homemade, personal vibe. menu is large and very diverse even for an indian restaurant, many dishes i had never heard of. i had the gongura curry and it was a completely new yet tasty experience for me. the dining space is a bit on the cozy side, but nothing too cramped and decently furnished. great place for a comfy and casual indian meal, ill definitely be back.

Karthik E.

Google
Special watery paneer biryani available here only ..we gave complaint multiple times about watery in biryani’s.. will order only paneer or vegetable biryani’s from this restaurant but only few time u will get the good biryanis rest of the time you have to eat watery biryani. I sent videos and photos to them not luck and they are still continuing same watery paneer biryanis so finally writing this review. At least now they will change it I guess.

Yelp
Over the years, I've tried a lot of Indian food!!my best friend is Indian, so it's a cuisine I've grown to love and appreciate deeply. I've sampled it in many cities, but I have to say, this was hands down the best butter chicken I've ever had. I'd been here once before to try the pani puri, which was great, but today I finally explored more of the menu...and wow, I'm so glad I did. Every bite was packed with rich, authentic flavor. It was incredibly delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The pricing was more than fair for the quality and quantity. I also love that this place has that cozy, hole-in-the-wall charm...it just adds to the experience. I genuinely hope they never change their recipe because it was perfection. I didn't leave a single grain of rice on my plate!

Yelp
Had a very tasty meal tonight! Started with Onion Pakoda that was hot and slightly spicy. Saag paneer did not disappoint- just the right heat (spicy) level. Chicken kabobs was enough for two people! Vindaloo Curry was on the mild side but very tasty. Plenty of basmati rice to go with everything. Garlic naan and butter naan were delish! The server was very attentive and pleasant. Enough food for another great meal at home! A pretty interior with lots of tables

Yelp
This unassuming Indian restaurant in a strip mall has authentic Indian cuisine. They were friendly and polite, seating us immediately. It wasn't very large inside with several tables and booths. I originally wanted dosas but they didn't have it. I was a little disappointed but got tandoori chicken instead. The family around got different dishes. There was Saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, chicken dum biryani, garlic naan, and chicken korma. When it arrived we realized we ordered too much food. The portion size was huge. Everything has authentic Indian flavors. The food was quite delicious. My tandoori chicken was large, juicy, and cooked perfectly. I tried a little of everything. The tikka masala was seasoned well. The creaminess went well with the rice. There was plenty of chicken, same with the korma and saag paneer. The biryani was fragrant with plenty of meat. We loved the naan as well.

Yelp
Food was good! Dosa was outstanding! Rice was delicious, naan was good. Saag was heavily creamed. Pani puri's sauce was very thin, not too flavorful. Service was excellent Floors were very slippery. Great music and atmosphere.

Yelp
Random find when craving Indian today. Small little, cozy restaurant in small shopping center, ran by family it seemed. Casual dining. I liked the peacock colored deco and feathers on wall. Although I would've liked a peacock mural or art perhaps. Sweet staff. Nice options of a variety of food. They allowed us to customize our food and get the less spicy option. The mild was perfect for just a hint of spice but not overwhelming heat. Ordered 2 dishes, portion size was perfect for just the two of us. Everything we got was delicious and tasted fresh. Will be back and would recommend.

Yelp
Stood around here for almost 10 minutes trying to get seated and then decided to leave to eat somewhere else
google avatar

Yelp
The service is lovely as is the atmosphere here. The food is very fresh!! Goat is always so tender and the naan is soft and delicious!! Mango drink is fantastic. Really very good.

Yelp
I'll be back to try something different and revise my review. This is a relatively negative review. I don't like the prices or the paneer pakoda or butter chicken, but I love the selection. ON THE OTHER HAND, I LOVED THE CHATINAD CURRY. But the price was too high for such a small portion. I would come back only to try another dish from the varied menu. I think it might be because I've had too much to compare it to, but I thought the paneer palak and butter chicken were lackluster. The paneer palak had an off taste to it this time, and I was there with several Indian friends who could confirm that paneer usually is full of flavor whereas this one was more monotone. It could've just been the way this palak was intended! The butter chicken tasted too strongly of coconut and cream, and I couldn't really taste the spices as much - but I've simply had so much to compare it to. I enjoyed the butter chicken, but it wasn't my favorite butter chicken experience. I might recommend the tikka masala here instead. The chatinad curry had so much spice and I loved it - it's a very distinct flavor that I enjoyed. I'd like to come back to try the dosa, fish curry, and Rogan josh!

Yelp
I've been looking for a new Indian spot on my side of town and finally found it! This will be my go-to from now on! Better than any of the others I've had on the West side and consistent! I also love they offer South Indian options as so many don't around here. I've done both delivery and eat-in and both have been great! The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly and fairly prompt, and they do offer wine which is nice. I've tried several things and all of it has been good! I don't think you can go wrong with anything and I'm excited to explore more dishes. So happy I found them!

Yelp
This has easily become my go-to place for Indian food. The Chicken Mirapakodi was a great starter. The sauce was creamy, and the chicken was served in bite-size pieces. My mom and I really like their Chana Masala. It's a vegetarian curry with lots of chickpeas. One thing you HAVE to get is the garlic naan. Absolute gas. It's soft and packed with garlic. My favorite dish, though, definitely had to be the Special Biryani. The rice was so fluffy, and I loved the spiciness of the chicken it came with. My mom isn't able to tolerate spice well, but this place was great at making the other dishes mild enough without compromising on flavor. Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
Great new Indian spot on Eldridge across from the Greek church. The restaurant is kind of small. We waited about 10 mins for a table on a Saturday night. The tables are awkwardly set up and they need to refine their seating/service system. They had 2 people sitting at a table for 6. We ordered the mango lassi, tandoori fish, butter chicken, chili paneer, and Hakka noodles. I really liked the chili paneer - good portion, not too spicy and nice fried texture. The butter chicken was really good. The Hakka noodles had a nice taste but a bit dry. I asked for some soy sauce but was told they only had ketchup. No thanks lol. The fish was alright. I'd like to go back and try the biryani. They have an extensive menu with plenty of options.

Yelp
The food is hot, fresh and flavorful. The service is kind and helpful. It feels like a family resturant, very clean and welcoming. We ordered spinach daal and chicken masakalli with garlic naan to share, we left full with leftovers!
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
Out usual place is temporary closed so we found this place on a whim. The inside is small but very family oriented! We were a huge party but they were able to sit us right away. The food was delicious! Mango lassi was perfect The garlic naan had flavor Samosas delicious The chicken lollipops were really good! Butter chicken was goo And I tried a new sauce it was also very good Idk if it will replace my usual space but it will be a nice option.

Yelp
Not so long ago I tried Chicken Biriyani for the first time. Since, I've been craving it. I came across to this spot that I literally drive by all the time. It's truly a hidden gem. I ordered to-go. Service right off the bat was great, no complaints there. As I pulled up and walked into the establishment, very clean and small. I love to see a clean place! I checked out and couldn't wait to try the food. I opened up everything and smelled amazing!! The Naan was fresh and warm. Mango Lassi super creamy and cold. Not overly sweet too. Now let's get to the best part. The flavors in the Chicken Biryani were there. It was a medium spice level for me. Not overwhelming. The chicken was falling off the bone, I topped it off with a white sauce that I was given. Some sort of yogurt that was diluted, if I'm not mistaken. When I tell you that you definitely get for what you paid for. The amount of food was incredible for the price. Without a doubt the best I've had yet.

Yelp
Drove by this place while running errands and decided to get some food to bring home. This place was nice and clean and the service was good and fast. Got some butter chicken to go. So they packed me some rice and the actual butter chicken separately along with some delicious bread. The container of rice and butter chicken was in a nice container that they also wrapped in plastic to make sure nothing would leak. The bread was wrapped in foil. My drive was 35-40 minutes and when I got home the food was still warm and ready to eat. I was delighted and impressed. The food was delicious and spicy. The flat bread was so delicious. I will be back.

Yelp
We recently had dinner at Peacock and we can honestly say it will be our last. Our server, Ramesh, had zero customer service personality and seemed like we were more of a burden than being appreciated as customers. We ordered veggie samosas, chicken tandoori, chicken chettinad, and chicken nuggets with french fries (for our daughter). The samosas and chicken tandoori were really good, but the chettinad was very subpar and the temperature was lukewarm at best. Not much flavor and no spice at all, despite ordering it at their medium (highest?) level. We were charged for two butter naans yet ordered only one. Neither of which had butter. The chicken nuggets were a very poor excuse for a child's meal as they have been previously cooked, perhaps the day before, and just heated up in the oven. Most were hard as rocks and not edible. Perhaps other items on the menu could have given us a better impression, but in this case once here was more than enough.

Yelp
Great local place for Indian food. Portions are large and flavors are on point! Take out is usually pretty fast as well.
google avatar

Meycy Z.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on Wednesday and I just couldn't get enough of the their wonderful service, but mostly the food!! They were so accommodating to my taste buds as well, since I'm not a fan of super spicy food. I have also catered from here before and everything has been top notch. Thank you!!

Alicia S.

Yelp
Delicious!! I got the paneer chettinad and my friend got the butter chicken. Both so good. The restaurant is lovely inside and the lady serving us was so sweet! She even gave us a free pudding dessert thing at the end. A must try.
google avatar

Ronald D.

Yelp
Three different visits, all very good! I truly enjoy their dosas' and had them two days in a row, but then one of the owners suggested that I try a curry dish and he suggested the goat Andhra. So I came back the next day and followed his suggestion and had it on a garlic naan and it was fantastic! Don't know what I want to do on my next visit, but I do know I'm going again.

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Dosa masala and chicken biryani are my favorite here. The house special is also great. Ambiance is good, and it's nice and air conditioned in the summer. Free dessert after from the servers.

Yelp
Biryani Dum Chicken is great. Been looking for a good biryani for the last couple of months and have been disappointed on 4 other attempts at different restaurants. Either the rice is over spiced with cloves, portions are really small or meat is very little and low grade boney cuts at other places I have tried. At Peacock the rice is really well spiced and you get a fair amount as well here. Love the flavor the red sauce and raita added to the dish. Will definitely be going back for the biryani very soon. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
I am always excited to see new authentic Indian restaurants open up in Energy Corridor. The gobi 65 was crispy, spicy, and had a delicious smoky coating. Garlic naan was great as expected and of course you can't forget the butter chicken. Savory, creamy, and full of flavor... though I wish it had more chicken in it!
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
We have loved everything we've had from here. The chicken 65 and cauliflower version of the same are bomb. We are picky Houston eaters and this place has knocked our socks off every time!
google avatar

Hallie M.

Yelp
Butter chicken was delicious. But just so you are aware, if you order chicken biryani, they will ask if you want it boneless or with bones. And if you order boneless, you will get the bones anyway. Very good garlic naan though.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Server was very attentive, food was great and quick, and loved the setting. Only would recommend music to be turned down a bit. Will be coming back!
google avatar

Karan S.

Yelp
Of all the Indian places I have been to near the energy corridor, this by far was the best place, and in my opinion very close to Aga's quality. Had stopped by here around lunch time on a Wednesday and got in a little early before 12PM, which was a good thing. By 12:30, the place was fully packed, which is not surprising given how good the food was. My wife and I got the tea, goat soup, masala dosa, paneer tikka masala (substituted the chicken in chicken tikka masala for paneer), and garlic naan. Everything thing we got was delicious! The only minor issue we had was the goat soup was a bit spicy, and we only got medium spice level but it was definitely way past that. Even then, we still tried to have it cause aside from the spice, it tasted so good. Most Indian places I have tried this side of town usually are good with a few things but then lack elsewhere on their menu. This place, at least for this first time we went, everything we got was solid. I think we have found the spot we will be going to for Indian food while we still live close by, and highly recommend this place to others. The only downside is that there isn't a lot of seating for how great of a place this is, so given how packed it is during lunch on a weekday, I can imagine it can get quickly packed during dinner time and on the weekends.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Food was good. Ordered butter chicken and saag paneer. With garlic Nan. Both were tasty. Not too spicy hot.

Karolina S.

Yelp
OMG! I download Yelp just to write this review! It was absolutely the best food I had within last few months! I will definitely be back soon! Employees were so nice and helpful to make sure we have a great experience! Prices were affordable. It's my new favorite spot in this area! I literally woke up this morning thinking of this food...
google avatar

Cameron F.

Yelp
I've had take out from here a few times and this is a very underrated spot for Indian food. The goat bone soup and chicken korma are delicious.
google avatar

Christie N.

Yelp
The food is great! Attentive wait staff. You get good bang for your buck. My Indian friend was pleasantly surprised and loved it too.
google avatar

Kerri D.

Yelp
Go to for the nights we don't want to cook! Everything we've ordered has been great! Always do delivery- but mean to come In sometime!
google avatar

Annie G.

Yelp
We were craving South Indian Food and found this restaurant on Google, so decided to try it out. Food was delicious and Service was great. The waitresses were attentive and very sweet towards my little one. Only comment I have is for the onion dosa which could have used more onions. Restaurant was busy on this Saturday night which is always a good sign with both an Indian and non Indian crowd. Will surely be back.
google avatar

Momo D.

Yelp
If you like Indian food then you'll LOVE this place! The food was legitimately better than Aga's :) It's a nice little restaurant and we ordered vegetable samosas, butter chicken, paneer butter masala, Rogan Josh, garlic naan and cheese naan bread! The mango lassi here is out of this world!! Anu was the best waitress I'VE EVER HAD!!!!!! She was SO sweet and attentive and made the experience above and beyond. WILL definitely be coming back
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
We found this little gem on accident!! I'd love to start with everything we ordered came out piping hot! We tried a few new things, and a dish we've had previously elsewhere. Everything was very flavorful and I couldn't have been more pleased! My husband loved his food as well! I also have to mention the service we received was great. Everyone was very kind, and attentive! I will definitely be back soon, and would strongly recommend checking this pl

Yelper R.

Yelp
This place is my new go to for Indian food.. butter chicken.. delicious. Garlic naan...amazing. Gulab Jaman... so fresh and sweet. We also tried the Kheer but this was the only dish I did not like.. I couldn't taste the cardamom at all.. I won't be getting this again but ill definitely come here again.
google avatar

Darren N.

Yelp
I was craving Indian food and I was glad to see an authentic restaurant in this area. It was not really busy on a saturday night and the service was super fast and friendly. I wish the butter chicken portion was a bit bigger because it was so good and creamy. I loved the naan bread as well as it was super doughy and had that strong garlic flavor. The place had a welcoming feel and everything was neat and tidy.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
We ordered takeout and would definitely do so again! Delicious food and very well packaged for takeout. We feel very lucky to have a restaurant like this nearby and look forward to dining in someday soon.
google avatar

Cary H.

Yelp
Solid Indian food! We've only ordered take out and have been quite pleased with what we've ordered. Garlic naan is tasty as is the goat vindaloo. Word to the wise, the veggie samosas are a bit on the spicy side so if you're sensitive to that you may want to steer clear
google avatar

Brettny J.

Yelp
I love this place! For reference, I am Indian and I have given two other 5 star reviews for Indian restaurants in Houston (Nirvana and Maharajah on hwy 6). I will say what seems to make the dishes here better than elsewhere is they add a little sugar where you normally wouldn't (like in the potatoes in the dosa and in the tikka masala). The chai/tea is good (not too spicy). The type of masala dosa that they serve here is the huge kind. They gave us complimentary gajar halwa one time, and it was good. One thing to note about lunch on week days is that if you come around 1, you might get seated with another party at their extra long table because everything else is taken. Mango Lassi - 5/5 Good, sweet Tea - 5/5 You need to add your own sugar Masala Dosa - 5/5 So good, with spicy and non spicy chutneys Goat soup - 4/5 Good but very spicy Aloo Tiki Chaat - 4/5 kind of mushed together taste Chana Masala -3/5 Meh, I make better chickpea curry Malai Kofta - 5/5 Great texture and taste Gajar Halwa - 4/5 Sometimes not sweet enough

Joshua K.

Yelp
Amazing food. Super quick coming out and good service. Quiet and low key environment and great amount of food for the price. Absolutely would recommend

Connor R.

Yelp
$10 for 4 bites of Papdi Chat. $17 for a tiny container of curry. Disgusting level of greed here.
google avatar

Hanna V.

Yelp
It's a cool spot. The chicken tika masala is delicious, different from Nirvanas. The butter naan is good but a tad bit more on the expensive side considering it's 2 pieces. Good customer service.

Lisa A.

Yelp
A perfect experience and amazing food! Anu our waitress gave us fantastic recommendations. My favorite was chicken 65 it was full of spice with bold flavors. We had the corn masala which was a delicious crunchy treat. Lastly we had Chettinad curry chicken which was a delightful coconut milk based curry. Our waitress was a sweetheart that made our experience completely delightful.
google avatar

Simi P.

Yelp
Looking for authentic Indian food and decided to give this place a try. So glad that I did! The staff is friendly and it's spacious enough for a small group to come enjoy great food. The goat biriyani is my favorite but you really can't go wrong with trying anything here from breakfast to dinner. Don't forget to add mango lassi or masala chai to your order! I'll definitely be coming back to this establishment for quality taste and big portions!

Erik S.

Yelp
Great service. Delicious food. Naan was perfect balance between crispy and soft. Ordered the chettinad (recommended by the awesome server). Mom-and-pop type feel. Definitely will come back! Would've posted the pic, but I devoured the food before thinking about writing a review
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
I got the chicken korma and it was so good! I love spicy but got it mild, bc I didn't want it to over power the flavor, and there was a perfect amount of kick to it. They were super quick and very friendly.
google avatar

Jaspreet S.

Yelp
This is not how palak paneer should look or taste ...Manchurian Gobi was decent ...pretty pricey for the portion size ...overall, worth trying if it's close to you

Lucas F.

Yelp
I loved this placed because the food is authentic and tastes really good. But today we went and saw four roaches while eating and two more in the bathroom. The restroom was in a sad state and the trash looked like it hadn't been taken out in days. Sad to say this but if that if what we saw I don't want to wonder what is in the kitchen and won't be going back.
