11 Great Black-Owned Bars In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Bars are cool and all, but have you ever been to a laundrobar? Pearl Lee’s Washtub is a laundromat in Crown Heights with a bar in the back, so once you’ve started your laundry, order a beer, then revel in the fact that if you spilled it on your shirt you could toss it in the washer within seconds. Everybody seems very happy to be here—maybe it’s because you get a 10% discount on beer, wine, and bar snacks if you’re doing laundry—or maybe it’s because the bartender’s mother is on aux, and doing an excellent job." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine, willa moore

Pearl Lee's Washtub - Review - Crown Heights - New York - The Infatuation

"You should do your laundry at Pearl Lee’s Washtub, even if you spend a lot of time boasting about your in-unit washer/dryer. The Crown Heights laundrobar has a long row of shiny appliances in the front and a bar in the back where you’ll likely receive a warm greeting from not just the bartender, but also every single patron. Maybe everyone is so nice because you get a 10% discount on beer, wine, and bar snacks, like soft pretzels, if you’re doing laundry—or maybe it’s because the bartender’s mother is on aux, and doing an excellent job. Order a beer and revel in the fact that if you spilled it on your shirt you could toss it in the washer within seconds." - Willa Moore

Ingenious business idea. Who would have thought laundromats could be enjoyable? The first time I went, I did 3 loads of laundry, had a BLT sandwich and a drip coffee for a total of $20. Can't beat that price! The machines are newer & nicer with the washers having options to adjust soil level & rinse. The only downside is that there's not a lot of them (10 washers & dryers each) and so space can fill up quickly. I have been going early in the mornings so I haven't had an issue with that. They have stools around the bar and more seats on the back patio. I have seen posters about events that they host like comedy and jazz nights. I have not yet been but sounds pretty cool to chill out on a Friday night while doing laundry. 😉

Incredible business idea. I wish more laundromats did this. It really makes going to the laundromat more enjoyable. The facility is clean and machines are in good shape. I went early in the morning on a Sunday. I was the first one there when they opened at 8:30am and the machines were full by 10am. Looking forward to coming back. The cafe/bar in the back is cozy. I haven’t tried the food yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it next time. There’s no big kitchen, so most of the food is simple things they can make at the counter with an air fryer, toaster oven, etc.

Great service!!! I will definitely be coming here to do my laundry regularly. It’s family owned, and they welcome you in like family. Such a fantastic experience doing my laundry here. It can get a bit busy though sois advice you come early.

Super cutest date I’ve ever been on and best time doing laundry in 29 years in NYC at Pearl Lee's Washtub on Rogers Ave in Brooklyn if anyone is interested. My date paid for my laundry too, so it was a win-win. Lmao! Their catchphrase is something like “laundry & libations”, but I thought of a new one while there: part Cheers, part chores. 😩😩😩 They have jazz nights, comedy nights and other themed nights and a cute lil’ back yard for spring and summer (and fall) months. The staff is also very sweet and accommodating; someone (not sure if staff or another customer) even helped me take my massive liars of laundry to the car. We’re getting a mini washer and dryer when my mom/roomie gets back from visiting my sister in another country, but I’ll def go there to hang out still. BLACK OWNED TOO!!!

As someone who absolutely loathes doing laundry and has a packed schedule, Pearl Lee’s Washtub was a fantastic find. The washers and dryers are all new and super efficient, which made the whole process fast and painless. The WiFi was strong enough to actually get some work done while I waited, which was a huge plus. What really made the experience stand out was the excellent customer service at the bar. The staff were friendly, helpful, and created a great vibe that made laundry day feel like less of a chore. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a better laundry experience.

Firstly, I want to say that I am sad to write this review because this truly seems like such a wonderful establishment, but I feel like it is fair to give a warning to potential customers. I went here for the first (and last) time back in March to wash my bedding and a few days later had bed bugs in my bed. I believe this laundromat was where I got the bed bugs because that was the only thing that changed in my usual routine and when I had an inspector come, they said the bedbugs had gotten there very recently, which lined up with the time that I washed my clothes at Pearl Lee’s. That being said, I naturally have not returned because bed bugs are a huge headache to deal with and I don’t even want to risk it. However, if potentially I didn’t get them from this establishment, it is a nice place with kind staff. Just felt the need to warn people of this possibility.

I’ve been to Rodeo, I’ve been to Whoopsie Daisy, but this is by far my favorite bar in the neighborhood. I was a first timer, and for this they greeted me with bubbles and a soju shot! Everyone that works here is so friendly, and the backyard is really nice too. I got the concoction that was a delicious, shaken soju cocktail, and my hubby got a beer and a soju shot. Will definitely be back ❤️

I have not actually done my laundry here, which I know is a weird thing to start with when you review an establishment for washing clothes. But this is by no means your average laundromat. Yes, they have washers and dryers. And yes, you can most definitely do your laundry here. But that's not all. You can also get a drink and some food, because this is - a laundrobar! And this review is about the tiny bar tucked away in the back behind all the machines. The beer selection at the time of my visit included four draft pours and a fridge with a dozen or so cans, the majority from local breweries. They also serve cider, wine and cocktails plus sandwiches, hotdogs and more in case you get hungry. There's a small backyard for warm days, a jukebox, a chandelier(!?) and super friendly staff.

Yelp
FAN.TAS.TIC! I had no idea that this spot was just around the corner from me until recently. I decided to do my laundry there today and, needless to say, I have officially found my new laundromat. I enjoyed a glass of prosecco and lovely chat with locals while my clothes were washing and drying. The machines are new, the facility is clean, and the owners and staff are super friendly. Never going back to the sub-par place I had been frequenting now that I know about Pearl Lee's Washtub.

Yelp
Went a few weeks ago and was so happy I did! Majida greeted us all when we walked in and explained how everything worked and thanked us from coming. She had such good energy and vibes the entire time and made me forget I was even washing clothes. Very clean and efficient machines, great drinks and great music. I told all my friends about it.
