"Despite its glassy exterior and its vicinity to Paddington station, Pearl Liang is a fine choice for dim sum. The business-feeling but not business-priced restaurant keeps everything around the £5-6 mark, which reflects the satisfactory standard of siu mai, cheung fun with XO sauce, and a favourite spicy prawn ravioli in broth, a.k.a prawn wontons. They also offer a dim sum set menu of eight items for £12.50, which is very reasonable." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak
"Look, if you’re going to have to spend the next two hours pretending you care about your colleague’s loft conversion, then you might as well reap the rewards of rolling with a group. And what is the ultimate benefit of group dining? A heavy-duty dim sum order, of course. Pearl Liang in Paddington has a big glassy exterior that gives the illusion of business, with a vast menu of daytime and evening dim sum deals that mean you can use this meal as an excuse to try everything from the cheung fun in XO sauce to the spicy prawn wontons. Also, they have plenty of big round tables so no one on the team is going to have to awkwardly sit at the end and pretend they’re not insulted. Be sure to check out their group set menus once you’ve satisfied that dim sum craving." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, eileen twum, rianne shlebak
"Despite its glassy exterior and proximity to Paddington station (undoubtedly a bottom three London terminus), Pearl Liang is a fine choice for dim sum. "This Paddington Basin favourite is offering a sharing menu of ten dishes for tables of six, as well as its usual à la carte and dim sum fixtures. Dishes include a “treasure pot” to share of abalone, king prawn, scallops, roasted duck, corn-fed chicken, sea moss and roasted crispy pork. £450 per table of six." - Shekha Vyas
"There’s no doubt about it, Pearl Liang looks and dresses the part. With its distinct Cantonese interiors: rich pink tones, bamboo plants, water features and gigantic cherry blossom murals — it’s as pretty as a picture. It would be remiss to ignore a selection of exquisite dim sum (visit during the day for the full selection), but the extensive Cantonese menu is as much reason to visit. For those seeking a more luxe dining experience, options include black bean dover sole or abalone from the a la carte dinner section. Going the extra mile is definitely worth the extra tariff." - Angela Hui
