I've been trying to shop at Pearl River Marr several times. They close early for weekend hours. When you get to Chelsea Market, the food stalls and dining is still open so you hope to shop after you eat, but no. It's hard to decipher because Chelsea Market is listed open until 10:00 pm every day, but many of the shops close much earlier (5:00-7:00) even on weekends. I've been to this location to try to shop twice and both times they've closed the door early before their posted hours. I knew I only had 15-20 minutes this last time and I would be quick to be out before close, but when I went to open the door, a staff pulled it back and said they're already closing. :(( I came to Chelsea Market specifically and speed walked past everything else just to go to this store first. Ugh, maybe fourth time is the charm? I'll try again after several attempts and maybe will be able to get in.

It always has unique cool stuff. Their kimonos and bomber jackets are something I need to have!

Google
pearl river mart is a super cute place to browse around and look for cute trinkets or souvenirs to bring home. there are actually two floors, the downstairs area has a mini mart with fresh food that is worth checking out.

Had such a fun time shopping here. The best part? We loved the candy section. We found some unique Kit Kat flavors amongst other foreign treats. My sisters also had fun in the face mask section. They found a lot of items to gift. The worst part? Can’t say anything negative! It was a pleasure shopping here and cashier was kind when we checked out.

Google
I absolutely love Pearl River. I used to frequent their canal street shop so to come across this Chelsea Market spot was serendipitous! I loved Asian fashion and styles as a teen and young adult and seeing the store brought back so many memories. You can find cook books, gifts, novelties, dishes and more. If you’re in the nabe be sure to stop by!

So many cute Asian gifts, books, trinkets and more! Loved how they stock Asian owned small businesses!

Google
Pearl River is full of a variety of home decor merchandise, trinkets, tchotchkes, and other novelty items. it’s a great retail shop if you’re looking for a random gift, want fun wallet-friendly decor stuff, or are just killing time at the Chelsea Market. the retail space is fairly big for Chelsea Market, but is filled with of loads of different merchandise…there are a lot of different cool small bowls if you are looking add some color to your kitchen. the store is pretty well-maintained. the store does get crowded because people are often browsing in-store. checkout is pretty quick as the staff is fast and efficient. it’s a great post-meal spot bc there is a fair amount of things to look at as you fight off the zzzs from indulging in the many different calorie options in the Chelsea Market.

Google
The upstairs shop is quite neat and the downstairs food spot is a delicious treat! Had my first tanghulu here in September and today tried the Cafe du Monde Cold Brew Coffee. Delicious

Yelp
Came here while on a visit to Chelsea Market in NYC. The store specializes unique, Asian- inspired goods: snacks, beverages, toys, clothing, souvenirs, etc. The store had a great assortment of items. I was intrigued by the G.I. Joe figures that were in yoga poses! We picked up a few souvenirs without breaking the bank. The associates were pleasant and very helpful during our time there. All in all, a great store to pick up an Asian- inspired souvenir or two.

Yelp
Pearl River Mart at Chelsea Market carries all of the same items they carry at their other locations. It's nicely positioned so that you wouldn't have to go further into downtown if it's out of the way. This location is pretty busy so I came for what I needed and then left. Service was efficient and it was neat that I was able to find what I needed quickly.

Yelp
I love novelty asian markets! I always find something cool & different. Guaranteed not leaving empty handed. This store is a hodge podge of everything asian you can think of. From witty greeting cards to chopsticks to air fresheners to bowls to skin products to house slippers to Pokemon cards to stationary and stickers, they have it all. Perfect for stocking stuffers & presents.

Yelp
This store is located inside Chelsea Market. It sells many things found in the Orient. Definitely a fun store to roam around and buy specialty chopsticks or Hello Kitty items. I noticed they were selling Moon cakes for mid Autumn celebrations.

Yelp
While exploring the lower level of Chelsea Market this past summer, my group was enticed by this corner market that is a blend of an Asian convenience store snacks, boba tea shop, and candied fruit snacks (tangulu). The boba shop is quaint and run by younger staff. Everyone was polite and professional. My friend and I eat ordered a drink and quickly received them 5 minutes after. My little one got some Pocky and seaweed rice crackers to snack on. We had planned to order a few tangulu but the person manning the shop that morning wasn't set up yet. It looked like they had a late start to the day, boiling the sugar syrup and boxes and boxes of skewered fruit to prep. They also had some fun merchandise like canvas bags made to look like typical 25lb rice bag brands. Fun shop and quick stop for your everyday Asian snack needs!

Yelp
Great store for Asian snacks and items. From little Buddha to cute boba tea bag, the possibilities are endless in the store.

Yelp
I love this place, it reminds me of my childhood when I used to go to the Japanese market on Sawtelle Boulevard. They have the cutest little knickknacks here and I love the Japanese clothing, I'm tempted to buy a kimono, but how would I fit it in my suitcase? I have shrimp chips and tea, pots, and baby clothes! Perfect place to get a gift!

Yelp
This is an iconic part of NYC- the famous Pearl River Mart. They have anything and everything Asian- vases, magnets, kimonos, dishes, chop stick holders, candies, incense... you name it, they have it! Everything is well stocked and organized. There's not really workers "around" to help. The workers are behind the registers and at the front door. I very much appreciate that they wrap ANYTHING glass that you buy- no need to ask! My favorite thing to buy from PRM are their little glass dishes- I use them for everything: my morning tea, my jewelry, coins, etc. I'm so glad they have a home now in Chelsea Market!

Yelp
This company has been running for 50 years in business with all the great nostalgic things they carry. This store front in Chelsea feels like the complete opposite. The window display is pretty sad. There isn't much of anything there. A few plants at most. And some functioning water fountains not all. There wasn't a great back drop to take some awesome photos. Disappointing. Further in the store was some snacks/drinks that target teens and children. Also the merchandise up front was more for tourist and kids alike. What happened to all the nice classic stuff. There were some tee shirts and stuff towards the back but it was in total disarray. It felt like digging through dirty laundry looking for something that was lost. It was all over the place. Organization there could be better of course. But that was not the only spot that needs some fixing. Throughout the store it was messy. It was a weekend so the upkeep should be spot on since it busy. Their products were pretty much thrown everywhere and anywhere there was a spot. Very sloppy. It makes it harder to shop. I almost killed myself tripping over some containers on the floor that were sticking out. Shame on that person who put it there. It's a crowded store and one can get hurt trying to pass by. Staff looks like it was run by kids. You kids that don't put much effort because if they did, the store wouldn't look the way it did. A nice older lady with red hair helped me and she was just the sweetest. Out of the whole store, it seemed like she was the only one who offered help and greetings. Shame on the boss who hired lazy workers and act very unprofessional. Girl by the door just sat down and started playing on her phone. Bravo. Unprofessional at its finest.

Yelp
MASSIVE store with everything cute and funny! I could spend all day here browsing all the merches!! They have everything that covers every aspect of life! I think they have expanded their store since my previous visit. In addition to this store they also have a food specific store directly downstairs with all amazing Asian food!
google avatar

Denise A.

Yelp
First time here and loved the shopping experience! Bright, cheery and colorful with a wide variety of both unique and everyday items and one of a kind gifts. I ended up getting some bamboo stalks and lanterns. We also visted the food portion downstairs which has Asian grocery items, spices, fresh veggies, and prepared foods. We enjoyed some jian baos (pork and beef) as a snack--delicious. Service was not so friendly in grocery area, but both stores are definitely worth checking out when visiting Chelsea market!

Yelp
If you are ever in Chelsea Market. You definitely need to stop by Pearl River Mart. This is one of my favorite stores. It's like an Asian mini department store. Why? Cause they got a little bit of everything from Asian snacks, souvenir, quirky cards, household items, and so much more. Sort of a treasure hunt here. For every turn it's something exciting. Definitely, can spend more time here, but mindful of other visitors. Black Friday Sale going on here. Lots of stuffed animals and Lucky Cat that comes in all sizes and shape. So happy, that Pearl River Mart has expanded. Up to 3rd shop. Recall first one in Chinatown. Such great memories.

Yelp
I confess I had never been to Pearl River Mart even though I've been in Chelsea Market countless times and have come across their other locations before. Always thought it's a store that sells tacky trinkets to tourists, but today I finally went in and I was pleasantly surprised! The store isn't huge, but merchandise is nicely displayed, unlike many other Asian stores that sell trinkets and souvenirs. There are snacks, "cute" Asian stationery and goodies that I'm sure appeal to middle schoolers (and beyond), above average Asian souvenirs (not your random Chinatown magnets and tees), clothing, jewelry, and kitchenware. They even have Chinese cloths if you want to make your own Chinese purses or clothing!
google avatar

Betsy S.

Yelp
They have many items to choose from though their prices are a bit high. From t shirts , pajama pants, funny socks and kimonos- something for all! You can have a good time looking all around! They also have a location downtown. The employees were friendly and helpful. Always good!

Yelp
One of the first shops we went into at Chelsea Market. It's one of those cute Asian shops where you find the cutest gifts for yourself or others and end up paying more than Chinatown but the stuff here is better and not junky. We were drawn to the novelty T-shirt's that we had never seen before so picked up a few. They also had kids' sizes. There were other clothing items and a sale rack. They also sell food, snacks, and candy. They even had moon cakes for mid autumn festival. The houseware section had cute chopsticks, and bowls that I would have considered if I were flying home soon. If I'm visiting Chelsea Market, I would definitely come back to this store!
google avatar

Yelp
This was a very cute Asian shop located in the Chelsea Market and was a great place to shop while our bellies digested its food. Shopping here is a way better alternative to haggling with aggressive novelty shops in China Town. From someone with an Asian background, this was the perfect place to get my mom's Mother's Day gift. There were cute trinkets, modern versions of traditional Asian garments, plenty of little Buddha or elephant figurines and more. I walked away with a beautiful jade bracelet and a Buddha figurine for very reasonable prices. If you're a stationary person, there was a corner of cute stationary and stickers. They also had a lot of oriental fans and a myriad of incense.

Yelp
A fantastic little find for shopping for unique and colorful gifts. I stopped in here with one of my students just to look around. We had intended to go to Chinatown on our latest visit to NYC, but ultimately we didn't make it there. So I'm doubly pleased that we had the opportunity to shop here. We stopped in just after the end of Lunar New Year which allowed me to grab a few items including some lanterns that seemed to be discounted. I have since hung them in the international program office in my school. I also found these CUTE paper decorations made by women in Nepal. So colorful and supportive of women in impoverished situations - BONUS. I enjoyed browsing, and I think this would be a great place to find a fun or unique gift, so if you're in Chelsea, make a point of stopping here on your way through the market.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVED browsing at this store when it was in Soho but it wasn't always convenient to get to so I was beyond thrilled so see a store in Chelsea Market. What's even better is that there's a 12-year lease so that's fantastic! What you'll find inside: Chinese ceramics and tableware, including bowls and chopsticks; clothing for men, women, kids and babies, slippers. There's also Asian snacks, stationery, knick-knacks you probably don't need but will want anyway. Dishware, chopsticks, tea sets, including but not limited San Rio characters, some jewelry options and so much more! My preference would be to grab something at Pearl River vs. deal with the alternative of a train ride, haggling and crowd in Chinatown. Been there, done that and let's just say Pearl River is all you need. Well, except they don't serve dim sum here (ha!) !!!
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
I remember going to the old giant Pearl River Mart on Broadway in Soho which wasn't too far from Chinatown and browsing the aisles for cute finds and affordable goods, but they had left that original location due to the price of rent increasing too much. I was so glad to hear the owners had opened up new locations. The Chelsea market location I happened to stumble upon by chance when roaming at Chelsea market one day. Although they are significantly smaller than the original location, they still carry some of their goods that fans of the store go for. A new line was the wontoninamillion that they had lots of stationary, posters, postcards, pins and keychains of cute dim sum characters with cute sayings. Nothing beats the original location, but I guess this will do for now.

Nadine F.

Yelp
I was treated unfairly in this shop. I have purchased items here in the past and live in the neighborhood. I was looking at the lanterns and a small glass dragon fell off a lower shelf about 2 or 3 feet away from where I was standing and broke. I had not touched the dragon. Since I was standing closest, a worker(?) said, "I have to charge you for half the price." I protested but to no avail. I paid the $5 plus tax so I could leave the shop. I think another customer or staff member could have placed the item precariously on the low shelf and then coincidentally it fell when I was nearby. I was not responsible. I do not shop here anymore.

Yelp
Cute Asian trinkets and general novelty fare, and some good luck objects you'd find in Chinatown. The other Market stores I perused have really overpriced stuff you don't need (like a $20 zippered pouch that says "My Favorite Fruit is Wine"). Surprisingly, prices here were mainly reasonable. For instance they have $2.50 ceramic rice bowls. The biggest mark up are the snack foods. I loved the novelty gum brand Get Along With Your Co-workers, and socks/oven mitts/kitchen towels with amusing sayings. A joyous surprise was the rack of Hello Kitty Mets and Yankees stickers, pins and pens!! I grabbed some Mets stickers to replace the faded, beat up current one on my car. Haven't been able to find them online. Nice small selection of jewelry with natural stones as well. Next time I visit Chelsea Market, I'm definitely stopping by this gem of a store!

Yelp
A small but fun and functional place to do some souvenir shopping. Lots of Asian themed fun stuff, from those solar powered waving kitty thingies, to kimonos to live bamboo plants. Lots of little baskets for you to grab and to dump things to as you poke around. Who knew you needed a tiny squeezable rubber Corgi? Now I'm sad I didn't buy it. Lots of Blue Q products too - they are sassy and always make me laugh.
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
Not only is it an Asian grocery, but it's also a mini food court! A lot of favorites packed into this space, including Mao's Baos. And of course, since this is Pearl River Mart, you can do your shopping for groceries, Asian candies, cooking/kitchen supplies, etc. Great location, and I wish them many more years of prosperity!
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
Super fun store to check out in Chelsea Market! They have all kinds of fun asian toys and snacks. I ended up getting some bowls made in Japan and they were very decently priced! Come check them out in Chelsea market!

Eve N.

Yelp
This is a very nice place to browse and pass the time. They have a lot of interesting items which make for good gift ideas. The only thing is, everything is over priced, naturally because it is the Chelsea Market, after all. I would still come back and will just be wary of things which are unique and other things which can be purchased elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a sucker for junky cute Asian shit, so Pearl River Mart is the kind of place I can't really walk past without dropping in for a peek. My mom and I went in just for fun while we were in Chelsea Market. It was a big store with lots of colorful, cartoony goodies in the windows. Couldn't resist a quick browse. There was so much junky cute Asian shit. Stuffed animals, cheap ceramics, things like pizza Band-Aids and pens festooned with plastic pandas. A lot of semi-practical items like silicon jar openers in whimsical patterns, or bibs that put your baby's head on a ninja or astronaut body. A solid selection of Asian snacks, too. I didn't buy anything, as I was traveling and also try to avoid impulse purchases that take up space in my house (moving really lets you know you didn't need those food-shaped erasers or that plushy of a radish in a Hawaiian shirt). I loved looking around, though, and would recommend Pearl River Mart for all your Asian trinket needs.
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
An adorable store that sells tons of Chinese themed items and food products. They have plants, clothes, stationary, snacks, statues, and so much more and they all will remind you of things you could find in Chinatown but they are conveniently located at Chelsea Market.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
Awesome oriental store in the Chelsea Market. Take some time to digest the food you've ate by walking around and browsing the different items they have for sale. Ranging from traditional chinese dresses to Gudetama plushes, they have all these little trinkets and toys that would make great gifts/souvenirs. It was fun to browse, but everything is fairly expensive in here. Definitely take a look at the price tag before going to buy something!!
google avatar

Erin N.

Yelp
Pearl River Mart is a fun little souvenir shop inside Chelsea Market. If you are looking for kawaii asian merch this is your place. They have everything you could want-- they have adorable boba tea baby t-shirts to Tokidoki backpacks to packs of HiChew. It is definitely worth the stop if you are in the area and wanted to find a unique gift for a friend. I bought a pack of wonton bookmarks just because I'm a sucker for food with faces on them. Worth the look if you are in the area but not something that I would go out of the way for. Happy shopping!
google avatar

Leila D.

Yelp
Second time here and I'll be back. I just love the variety of items and I'm a Maneki Neko fan. Stocked up for now. Also purchased some great incense, tiger balm (I'm an addict) and other little gift items. Then I had to stop otherwise my bank would start hurting.
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
Nice store with a variety of Asian ceramics, Buddhas, snacks (Pocky and Japanese Kit Kat), chopsticks, and fun things you didn't think you needed! Great for last minute gifts.
google avatar

Mei Qin Z.

Yelp
A cute little shop located near the back of Chelsea Market. It offers a wide collection of Asian trinkets: clothes, snacks, shoes, accessories and what not. A great place to shop at for gifts. They have all sorts of stones and rocks too.
google avatar

Constance A.

Yelp
I don't really visit Chelsea Market often and never knew this place existed. I came here for a Lunar New Year event. While the store was very pack due to the event and having to wait in line for get some free dumplings, I was able to look at some of the things they sell. They sell lots of pretty cool, fun, and useful Asian novelty items. What impressed me more was the price. I actually thought the prices were reasonable. It surprised me actually. It's just a fun store in general to look around even if you want to spend money. I plan to go back and look around some more. I believe it is $10 minimum for credit card.
google avatar

Shar M.

Yelp
Super cute store that sells a variety of Asian goods and snacks, clothing, stationery, and several items by Blue Q (they make "life-improving, joy-bringing products")... some of the prices are obviously marked up since you have the convenience of shopping in a brick and mortar to see the items in person. However, I compared some of the prices of their novelty products and home decor to Amazon and was surprised that they were selling items for reasonable prices, if not cheaper than what I could get online. I ended up buying a cute onesie for my soon-to-be-born niece, some funny socks for myself and my husband as souvenir, and a little coin pouch. I had a hard time deciding "Ice Cream Money" and "401k" but I ended up with the 401k retirement fund pouch because I couldn't stop laughing at it. :)

Yelp
i walked in to pr one of my favorite stores at chelsea market. a young lady greeted me at the door. i shared a happy new year.....instead of saying happy new year back....she raises her voice and says....i....am...japanese. well excuse me...... the store is pearl river. i will never come back. my chinese grandchildren can get their candy from another store. incredible

Yelp
This is a very unique store inside Chelsea Market. It is one of a kind. The store just pulls you in with all the goodies and fun products that they have. The decor is pretty calming and relaxing when stepping in. Mind you it was very busy President's day weekend. Right away I noticed the candy. I love sweets. I was drawn to all the different colors of the sweet. I did get myself some lychee and mango gummy. How could you not? Going further inside, me and my friends messed around with the mood rings and toys. Something very different that you don't always see. It make me happy to be able to have fun in a store and enjoy the cute things they have. (Mood rings, toy banks, tiny size notebooks) There is some very nice clothing and dishes to see. The jewelry on the table was another thing. That table alone was very messy. Everything looked jammed together. There probably wasn't enough space. They really need to do something about the jewelry. I did come to a spot with a lot of statues and things. Very interesting to see and some notes that explained what they mean. Of all the good things in the store, there was something I had experienced which is totally upsetting. I forgot what I had ask to a sales person in the back table and her response was so rude. She would not turn around to answer me. I was talking to the back of her head. No hi. No how are you. Just the rude attitude. Never have I had to deal with someone like this. I was so upset with this I filed a complaint with the people at the register. I told them the Spanish girl was rude with a big attitude. I asked something simple but got treated so badly. They apologize on her behalf and did not want me to be upset. They offer to help me with what I needed and I was thankful. I don't know who will let this person work in such a friendly store especially since she is rude and not friendly at all. Aside from that bad experience, everything else is great in store. There is lots to see. Just avoid that person if you want a good day.

Yelp
This is a good place to pick up cute Asian novelty items, and going gift/souvenir shopping. The items here are not too overpriced -- you'd end up paying a similar amount anyways for some of the stuff at other Asian goods stores. The kinds of things they sell include Chinese style dishware, home decorations, trinkets/charms/idols, Asian snacks, novelty clothes, among other things. Great stuff for everyone. It's definitely worth checking out!
google avatar

Peggy K.

Yelp
I believe Pearl River used to be located in Chinatown, but this store recently opened in Chelsea Market. My friend and I were browsing through the store and both felt nostalgic from seeing snacks from our childhood, from the candy to the Chinese style seaweed packs to the Hello Panda biscuits. I saw calligraphy brushes and reusable calligraphy scrolls. Plenty of bamboo plants sold here if you're in need of one too haha..clothing, tea pots, and even chopstick art. They sell a variety of items. Wish I had taken photos so you knew what I was talking about! Check it out if you're in the area! Items might be a tad more expensive than if you were to find it elsewhere, but not bad considering it's in Chelsea Market. Bet this place will be popular as the Lunar New Year approaches!
google avatar

Melody L.

Yelp
Such a cool store to browse through and maybe pick up a few gifts for yourself, your friends, S.O., family, coworkers, or sugar baby (I'm not here to judge). They have a great selection of Asian novelty items. I loved all the cute and funny baby clothes... kind of made me wish I had an infant to dress in embarrassing outfits. You can also find many oriental snacks, fabrics, clothing, porcelain, decorations, etc. My only complaint is that some items are sort of overpriced, such as the paper garlands that are hanging around the store ($8.50 each).
google avatar

Viviann L.

Yelp
Reasonable prices and pretty clean and organized. Quite new so still in progress of organized and setting everything up. Cute stuff but alright quality. Staffs aren't rude but not very attentive.
google avatar

Suzee Q.

Yelp
Fun Asian goods market, for souvenirs, for gifts, for snacks, for toys! I didn't see anything outrageously priced and there are LOTS of adorable things. I had been to the old Pearl River Market. This one is well lit and well organized. Worth stopping by if you're in the area.
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
What a beautiful place but the service was TERRIBLE. Came in with the desire to purchase bamboo which were beautifully displayed. I decided to ask the only person I n the floor to assist me since the bamboo are on laced against the window display. The woman seemed bothered and annoyed. When I asked to be able to pick out the bamboo she rolled her eyes sucked her teeth and looked at me as if I was asking for too much. In fact I was trying to purchase something from her store. With the negative energy that the woman had I decided to avoid shopping for bamboo. I attempted to speak with a manager about the incident and unfortunately she was the manager. Her name is Gwen everyone! Wouldn't step inside this "zenful" place again.

Yelp
Been a big fan of Pearl River since the old days when they were on Canal Street. Loved their subsequent higher end iteration on Broadway. It's great they have two locations but I kinda miss the full on version. The two stores carry different merch as well as some of the same, so if you're looking for cute kids tee shirts, you have to go to the Chelsea location.
google avatar

Sara N.

Yelp
Such a cute little store! They have so much stuff in here from chopsticks to face masks!! The staff is super friendly and everything is reasonably priced. Their merchandise is simply adorable and Asian inspired! Love it!!

Yelp
Came here for the Chinese New Year celebration this past weekend. They had a lion dance performance, free beer and dim sum. I noticed the store has a lot of good stuff to buy. Will come back to shop next time. It was pretty packed.

Yelp
Took a little trip down to Chelsea Friday and saw pearl river. I couldn't help but to stop by and take a look. They have many wonderful products at reasonable prices. But the lack of customer service is dreadful. It was around 3:30 to about 4ish when I was there. It was quite busy looking but I was expecting to see and employee other than the one girl at the register. I wanted to inquiry about an item and asked her and she said she will be right with me but she had a long line. I'm surely there are other employees but no one knows where they are. I love how the store is organized. I will be able to find what I want or need. I will be visiting again soon though.
