LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This Chicago-themed hot dog counter in Studio City reminds us of The Original Beef from The Bear, minus the yelling and the drama (we hope). The menu covers various Chi-town staples, including jus-dipped Italian beef sandwiches with giardiniera, all-beef dogs dragged through the garden, and pepper and egg breakfast sandwiches. Seating consists of a few sidewalk tables, just in case you want to enjoy your grilled polish sausage streetside." - cathy park

The Best New Under-the-Radar Restaurant Openings in Loss Angeles, July 2025 | Eater LA

"The Windy City comes to Los Angeles at this new Studio City hamburger and hot dog joint that opened in June; try the Klassic Kraut Dog with sauerkraut, mustard, and onion on a poppyseed bun, or the Pearl with chili, mustard, and onion, and look for Italian beef sandwiches, smash burgers, and sides like onion rings." - Rebecca Roland

Google
Pearl’s Red Hots has quickly become one of my favorite spots in LA! I love that they offer healthy options and gluten-free alternatives without sacrificing flavor. Their Oh So Healthy Breakfast Burrito is my go-to every morning — it’s filling, fresh, and never disappoints. For lunch or dinner, the Chi Town Melt on the gluten-free bun is absolutely incredible. The bun is soft and sturdy (rare for GF!) and the sandwich is packed with flavor. I seriously crave it. I also love that they cater to different diets, and I can’t wait to try their vegan dog next time I’m in. Highly recommend Pearl’s Red Hots for anyone looking for delicious food with great healthy and gluten-free choices!

Google
Native ChiTown girl here! They did not miss with the Chicago style hot dog, but the wiener is too small. But they do have a jumbo dog. No complaints on the Maxwell St. style polish or tender Italian Beef or fresh shoestring fries (2). I got all of the above and 2 bottled drinks for me and my friend for about $55. A pretty penny to me for this, but typical LA fast food prices. Service was top tier too. Although it's casual and outdoor seating only, they brought our food to the table. My friend got free soft serve ice cream for it being her bday too!

Google
Pulled over near Tujunga for coffee at the nearby overcrowded coffee shop down the street, while walking down the block this place caught my eye. Especially the Chicago styled hot dogs which I was craving since my last trip at Chicago. ordered a burger and chi-town jumbo spicy hot dog from a recommendation by the people working there. Food was so good I forgot I went there for coffee. would definitely come again.

Google
As an ex-Chicagoan, this place caught my eye as I was walking down the street. Figured I'd pop in and maybe try the Chicago dog. Then I saw the Maxwell Street Polish (it said "Jumbo" and I was hungry!) on the menu and ordered one of those instead. More than 11 bucks, but I gave it a shot anyway. I was (happily) upsold on some fries and a Dad's root beer, sat down and waited for my order. I knew I was in trouble when they handed me the bag and it felt... Light. There was no way there was a legitimate Maxwell Street Polish in here. I walked to my car to eat it. As I opened up the bag I was greeted with what appeared to be a regular hot dog - split down the middle to perhaps make it look bigger. The toppings looked correct, although the onions were just barely caramelized. I took a bite, and thankfully, it hit the spot, but if it were a legitimate Maxwell Street Polish there should have been about twice as much meat. For $11+ (all the way up to $24 after the fries, drink, and tip) I was extremely disappointed. The poppy seeds felt out of place on the bun too The gold standard is Jim's Original in Chicago, which still operates just around the corner from the actual Maxwell Street, and I paid $6.90 for a *legitimate* polish just a few short months ago. And I was actually full after that meal. Anyway long story short - good flavor, bad portion size. Would probably fool the locals here who have never been to Chicago, but if you've had the real thing, probably best not to order it here.

Google
Always great! Today, after work I wanted to take a meal home that would still be hot in 10 minutes. The turkey burger was suggested. I took it and an order of fries. It was piping hot when I got home. It was delicious! The fries were hot and crispy until they were gone. Heir fries are the best! The turkey burger was tasty and hot til the end. Yum! Now they also have soft ice cream for desert, double yum!

Google
What a letdown. Italian beef wasn't even close. The hot dog's bun wasn't steamed enough and the ingredients show the signs of poor training. The worst part? Twice the price of Portillo's. Never again. I'd rather drive an hour each way and get it right.

Google
It's outstanding on every level from service to, of course, the food, which is basic in the very best possible way. Finally I know where to get a great hamburger that isn't smashed. I've had the tuna avacado wrap, breakfast burrito and burger so far - all delicious. Also the fries are perfection.

Google
Was in the neighborhood & saw the cute patio umbrellas & seating area, so I stopped for a quick breakfast. Had the Breakfast burrito which was tasty & the coffee was great. Service is excellent- can't wait to return & try the Italian beef!

Yelp
If you grew up in the east coast eating Carvel then you'll absolutely love their new soft serve in chocolate, vanilla and swirl of course! Their new chocolate shell puts Dairy Queen and Fosters Freeze to shame! Or, try the Ghirardelli dark chocolate drizzle in a cup if you prefer. The best news is that everything is super easy on your Apple Pay wallet.

Yelp
My hot dog was amazing the service was very good if you're ever in the area? Stop by. Try a chili dog. If you're a hot dog lover, this is the place to be

Yelp
I see no better time to visit a place called Red Hots than during a heatwave, and while I made the arrogant and foolish decision to also eat a spicy hotdog, I very much enjoyed it. From super soft poppyseed buns, to toppings that could build a house on their own, I'm delighted to see new buisnesses spring up for me to try. Needless to say, there aren't enough good hot dog places, and I'm grateful to see this one. I had a build your own spicy dog w/ saurkraut+ mustard and all things considered I'm a better man having done so. Cheers

Yelp
Didn't know this place existed before searching on Yelp! Stopped in on a Sunday, parking is difficult so we circled and parked down the block but not too far. Ordering is done at the window, there is a pleasant patio with a few umbrellas for shade. The atmosphere is definitely comfortable and inviting. The staff is very friendly and informative, ordered the Pearl Hot Dog that comes with Chili and mustard (no onions by request) on a poppyseed bun. The dog has a nice snap, chili is plentiful and flavorful without being too greasy. The poppyseed bun is definitely soft and gives the impression of being fresh. Also ordered the Vienna Beef Korn Dog and that had a nice crispy deep fried batter with flavorful beef dog inside. Overall we were super pleased and will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is an outdoor dining situation. There is some shelter from the sun with shade from nearby trees, but if you plan on eating there you're sitting outside. Full disclosure, I've never been to Chicago, but have tried an Italian beef from Pop ups and Portillo's in Buena Park. The sandwich itself tasted close to Portillos. The bread was nice, wet (from being dipped in the au jus), and chewy. It was not overly soggy, but when you get it baptized your hands will feel oily and wet. The meat was seasoned well, but the giardiniera was fantastic. It was poppy, bright, and the perfect pickled accoutrement to make the sandwich sing. Parking is street, meter, and neighborhood.

Yelp
Tried a hot dog and an Italian beef dip and they were both tasty, hot, and fresh. Good quality ingredients and friendly, fast service. It is pricey though so definitely more of a treat yourself lunch, as far as fast-ish food is concerned.

Yelp
Finally! A restaurant in Tujunga Village that our community really needs and wants. We've been needing a casual eats place for a long time here: high quality, simple food that won't break the bank and is delicious and casual. Pearl's Red Hots indeed is a gem. They have breakfast until 3 PM, featuring all permutations of breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. They offer eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, avocado, sweet peppers, shredded beef, vegan sausage, hash browns, lettuce, tomato, and potato. You can pretty much have anything you want for breakfast in a sandwich or burrito or bowl setting. I had the pepper and egg sandwich and it was delicious. Very simple: scrambled eggs, sautéed orange peppers, and a little mayo on a French roll. If I were feeling hungrier and wanted something heavier, I might've gone for the Wicker Park burrito that has slow roasted shredded beef, roasted jalapeño cheese, and giardiniera. For lunch, they offer a wide variety of hot dogs and vegan hot dogs, and Polish sausages on regular and gluten-free buns, corn dogs and veggie corn dogs, burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, pastrami sandwiches, Italian beef sandwiches, tuna melts, chili fries, a cup of chili with onions, and beer battered onion rings. I'm really happy to see that they offer turkey burgers and tuna melts. This gives me great options for when I don't want red meat and when I'm also not in the mood for a veggie burger. If I wanted to make a meal here even lighter, I'm sure I could tailor it by going bunless and asking that it be served on lettuce. Everybody around me looked like they were really enjoying their meals. There was a happy vibe in the air. It's so nice that we now have an option for an eatery that is high-quality but not crazy expensive, the way some other restaurants in the Village are. Their bottled drinks menu offers some hard to find options, such as Dad's diet root beer and chocolate Yoo-Hoo. Also, it's great to finally have a hot dogs and hamburger place! At last! All the employees have very nice manners, both in person and on the phone. I was very impressed. Welcome to the neighborhood, Pearl's!

Yelp
Big shoes to fill as this was our fave spot for a slice of pizza ... but the hot dogs are the best I've ever had. I expected to like the Italian beef more than the hotdog, but we got both and actually the hotdog was the winner by a long shot.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot with friendly service. Food was great and came out hot. Great soft serve gelato swirl.
google avatar

Mitchell P.

Yelp
New Hot Dog shop on the block! They use local, unfrozen, authentic Vienna Beef dogs. They fly in the Polish Dogs, frozen, from Chicago. Only tried the Mustard/Onion/Relish dog, it was excellent. Great snap and flavor! Pricey for a small hot dog, but delicious. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Great addition to Tujuna village...delicious food, ample outdoor seating, friendly staff!

Yelp
A legit Chicago fast food spot is back in the Valley!! The hot dogs & Italian beef are the real deal, folks. Here's what we tried: Chicago Dog: Vienna beef dog, neon green relish, and all the "correct" toppings, wrapped into a poppy seed bun. Briefly worried that the diced peppers were pepperocini, but happy to be proven wrong! Italian Beef: ordered it regular with giardinera. Flavor was on-point, if a little dry -- but that was my fault for not getting it dipped or baptized. They also use Turona rolls for the beef! Like I said, legit! Corn dog: yup, that's a Vienna beef corn dog alright. Mmm. Tastes like summer. Fries: solid and well seasoned. If you threw those in a brown bag and let 'em rest for a few minutes, it'd take just like the corner stands made 'em back in Chicago. Friendly service and a nice little patio to sit on out in front. (No indoor space, FYI) My only knocks are that it's a little pricey compared to what I'm used to paying for dogs, and that parking in that stretch of Tujunga can be crappy. BUT I'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK.

Yelp
this place. The owner is super friendly and down to earth. The sandwich was tasty. They got yummy onion rings. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
So rare to find a chili dog ,or Chicago dog , this great in Los Angeles! So good! Steamed buns & a hot dog with a snap when you bite into it. Plus an authentic Italian Beef , which I got " baptized "! Fully dunked in au jus! Full of flavor! I keep bringing friends back and trying new dishes. Chili fries, chopped pastrami, all awesome. A must try. Plus it's on Tujunga Ave., a cool block to walk & shop. Oh, & you can sit on the street patio & watch people & cars! Fun times! I'll be back! Stan

Yelp
This place is awesome!! I went there for the first time early this week and got a chili dog, one of the best I've ever had. !! The hotdog snapped when I bit into it, and the meat was phenomenal. I noticed that they had an Italian beef on their menu and went back a few days later and had that. I am a connoisseur on Italian beef sandwiches and they ranked right up there with my top favorite one from Gino's East. The service was great, polite, and attentive! I highly recommend this place !!

James A.

Yelp
The food was alright. Had a burger, fries, onion rings, and a chili dog. The chili had mild but nice flavor. The burger was not my favorite. I think what makes this place so special is the location. It's situated on Tujunga in one of my favorite areas of studio city. Walkable and lovely neighborhood next to other restaurants and shops.

Yelp
Love that there's another Chicago style restaurant in the area. Ordered the chili cheese, dog and Italian beef. Both were very good.

Yelp
Great little place stopped by on a Sunday for a quick bite. Staff was super friendly, fast service from the time I ordered to the time I got my food. I ordered the The Pearl hot dog, which tasted great. Nice snap to the dog, the chili was perfect on it. Can't wait to stop by again to try their Italian Beef.

Lorry G.

Yelp
Great turkey burgers and hot dogs. Friendly attentive staff. Inviting outdoors. Good value.?Fresh tasting ingredients. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Richard R.

Yelp
This is an excellent new Chicago style addition to the neighborhood. It has authentic Chicago Italian Beef Sandwiches and Chicago Hot Dogs. The bread, toppings, and au jus were spot on. The main server, Jake, was highly professional, courteous, and accommodating. The owner, Brad, is a true gentleman. You no longer have to drive the Buena Park to go to Portillo's or fly to Chicago to get authentic Italian beef sandwiches and hot dogs. You only have to go around the corner to Pearl's Red Hots in Studio City. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Five stars and rightfully so. I just had the breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, hashbrowns, and crispy bacon. Delicious! I added one egg and extra cheddar cheese to beef it up a bit and it was well worth it! I'll be back.

Sami G.

Yelp
Hopped off the plane at Burbank and was looking for a quick meal that wasn't fast food. In a town where a combo at Taco Bell cost upwards of $20 these days, Pearl's was a budget saver. The dogs were perfect portions, and if you really wanted to, you could double up and get two different hot dogs and it would still be less than a combo at a fast food burger place. The fries had my favorite seasoning on them too so I gobbled those up pretty fast. They also have my favorite bottled cream soda so food was definitely a 5/5 for me. I loved that it was just a casual window with patio seating. Definitely lent itself to the cute neighborhood vibes where you could just stroll up and order a snack. Parking was easy enough to find. Definitely will be coming back to try the other menu items.

Yelp
I really loved the spot that pearls took the place of so I was hesitant to try it. But pearls is simply amazing. The vegan dog kicks ass. The turkey burger one of the best I've ever had. Very happy this spot is here

Jerome M.

Yelp
Just had the Firebird (spicy) Chicken sandwich. Excellent - fresh and juicy. I will definitely be back. Soft serve ice cream is great as well.

Yelp
The food was discussing the service was gross I found a hair in my food. And after eating, I threw up the place there before was so much better.

Ray C.

Yelp
What a nice change from the lousy PINK'S Mild Polish Chili onion cheese dog I had the other night. I want to say that the young man that took my order couldn't have been more helpful and customer friendly !! A delicious dog and a nice menu too. I WILL return on my next trip to Los Angeles. THANK YOU !
google avatar

Bernard D.

Yelp
Food and service were great. Loved the breakfast burrito and the corn dog. Will be back.

Mitch T.

Yelp
The Italian Beef was OUTSTANDING. Highly recommend this place! Cute outdoor seating. Tables well kept/cleaned. Quick ordering. Staff was terrific! Quick delivery of food. Definitely will be back!!
google avatar

Marika P.

Yelp
So happy Pearl's is in the neighborhood! Tried the veggie breakfast burrito and vegan hot dog with giardiniera, LOVED both. The sesame hotdog bun is melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the owner Brad (and the rest of the team, shoutout Abel!) couldn't be nicer. I can't wait to go back over and over again.

Michael S.

Yelp
Just ate there for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The food was very good (passed my "test", if the fries are good, everything else probably will be too, and the fries were more than good), staff very friendly, and the overall vibe on the patio was full of energy with lots of customers seeming to feel the same. Will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
Great local hot dog and hamburger shop. It's on tujunga so it's nice to sit outside and people watch. The owner is super nice and makes you feel at home. Highly recommend!

Daniel C.

Yelp
A great taste of Chicago. And great service. Love the vibe. The perfect place for Chicago transplants who don't want pizza tonight!
google avatar

Bill L.

Yelp
Great food and service in very neighborhood atmosphere. I've only had a Hot dog so far but I will be back. Give them a try!

Larry S.

Yelp
Love this place! Had a great hot dog with kraut, onions and mustard. Don't eat hot dogs too often even though I love them. But ... when I do I want it to count! Pearls did not disappoint. Soft bun and a dog with skin with a snap (as it should be). My wife had a turkey burger that I had to push for her to give me a bite. She finally relented and it was so good I ordered my own. Can't remember the last time I had a dog and a burger in one sitting. Simple concept. Limited menu but that's a good thing. They do what they do very well and that's more important than 100 mediocre choices. Reasonably priced. Great, friendly service. Outdoor only seating lends to the grab and go vibe. Highly recommend!

Linda S.

Yelp
Having just return from our first trip to Chicago and missing an authentic Chicago dog we stumble upon Pearl's Red Hots! Each got the authentic dog with the delicious buns and all the fixings. We smiled with every bite we took. unfortunately we don't live in Los Angeles but we will make sure this is a stop next time in town. Owner is a great guy to talk to.

Melinda S.

Yelp
Loved it! Delicious food, great prices, super friendly vibe! Had the Reuben Hot Dog for lunch and loved it... Had the blueberry lemonade to drink - and whoa! It was delicious! Made from scratch - so good!! Can't wait to go back again and try some other things on the menu.

Jack P.

Yelp
The Italian beef here is awesome definitely get it with giardiniera. Fries are hot and crispy too. Highly recommend.
