Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate in New Orleans This Week | Eater New Orleans

"A seafood-focused restaurant that’s remained fresh since opening in 2013, highlighting local seafood and produce and often layering Southeast Asian flavors under chef de cuisine Nicole Mills. A Royal Reds special paired poached, tender crustaceans with ripe mango, thinly sliced radish, jalapeño, red onion, mint, peanuts, a fish-sauce–style nuoc cham, fried shallots, and crispy dried shrimp for brilliant contrasts of crunch, citrus, and succulence; other standouts included crab rice and catfish in a chili broth—in short, a reliably seafood-forward spot where the specials shine." - Henna Bakshi

Peche Island

It’s a beautiful island with so much potential for hiking and paddling, but the inlet desperately needs to be dredged by the city in order to allow water flow. Currently, it’s so swampy you can’t even pass through the awesome winding canals in the island, and it’s a breeding ground for mosquitoes to attack anyone who tries to walk on a trail. Please don’t waste this wonderful resource with so much history and dredge the dang inlet by the bridge!!

A great place for a day trip. Easy to get to with a kayak, and on the day we were there he, it was very empty and quiet.

A beautiful little park. Accessible only by boat, kayak, canoe etc. As of 2018 the City Of Windsor runs a ferry service to the park 3 days per week (Wed Sat Sun) from 10am to 2pm. (best to book in advance) Pack a picnic lunch, some sunblock and a sense of adventure and check out this hidden gem!

Peche Island is a beautiful treasure a stone's throw away from Windsor. It doesn't take long to walk around the island trail, but it's still a great experience. If you can find a bench, it's a good place for a picnic..

Since the city has taken over the island it's become a dump/swamp. The kayak cove is not passable anymore and the east inlet is completely blocked now. There's 0 flow through the island leading to stagnant water and a heavy breading ground for mosquitos. Dredge the inlet and give us back the island we used to love.

A hidden gem in the middle of the Detroit River. Windsor is lucky to have this quality park in the neighborhood! Accessible only by boat/canoe/kayak, but there is a ferry that runs too. Nice trails, shady, great view of Windsor and Detroit. Can see a large variety of wildlife.

Amazing island to view nature, with amazing sites to see. But remember not to leave food behind because raccoons will come out, and bring a lot of bug repellent, because you will get infested with mosquito bites.

Peche Island is a beautiful oasis for swimming, picnicking, and hiking in the middle of the Detroit River. A great summer day trip!
