"Located inside the Mayton in Cary, it’s worth coming early for Christmas dinner to sip on a cocktail in the cozy library attached to the restaurant. There’s often a roaring fire in the library during the winter to warm up beside. The restaurant has several larger tables to accommodate the whole family. It’s unclear whether there will be a pre-set menu or the full menu to order from, but expect classic Southern dishes either way for the cuisine de jour." - Elliott Harrell

"The restaurant inside the Mayton transformed a few years ago when local developers joined forces to save the boutique hotel from bankruptcy. The investment resulted in a restaurant that would draw diners on its own, but it happens to be adjacent to the new downtown Cary Park, with a covered patio serving the views. The renovation included overhauling the aesthetics, like adding colorful custom wallpaper that ties back to the park. It’s a solid all-day dining option for Southern-inspired favorites like fried green tomatoes and peel-and-eat shrimp with a dynamic modern American menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a weekend brunch (don’t miss the indulgent smoked salmon scrambled eggs with brie in a pastry shell)." - Sarah Day Owen Wiskirchen

This review is ONLY for the special Bubbles & Ice ticketed dinner & NOT for the actual "normal" dinner service, which we have dined in several times & greatly enjoyed. We were excited to enjoy a well priced ($85/pp) evening of a 3 course dinner w/ bubble pairing posted for 6pm. We arrived at 5:40 & were told that the doors had to open at 6 so we should wait at the bar. No problem - we had a glass of cava & were happy to wait for the "doors to open." As all of us were being seated at the same time, it led to a huge group congregating at 6pm waiting to be sat. My husband & I had no clue that it was group seating. We were at a table of 6 - I believe there were 3-4 tables of 6 & another table of 8-10. While we enjoyed our company, had we wanted to have a quiet, private date night, this would have been a major disappointment. Truth be told, we kind of did want our own table as it was a special anniversary, but we took it in stride. I think its important for the website to market it as group dining if that's the case... The atmosphere was very kitschy. Wedding chairs, wedding table decor, a bubble machine, & intermittent pours of dry ice into a vase of water on the table. Not really the high-end vibe of a champagne dinner. The servers were AMAZING!!!!! Waters, champs stayed full - plates cleared, light conversation, everyone moving in unison, etc. They killed it. The host/sommelier (not sure) kept ringing a bell for the start of the event, palate cleansers, discussion of food/champs, etc. Not to be snobby, but we were drinking Chandon and Veuve - great bubbles, but nothing extraordinary that required bell ringing. It ended up taking away from the event and we felt awkward eating our sorbet until the bell had rung granting us permission. There was way too much focus on unnecessary talking-presentation. Caviar on potato passed amuse bouche was great but the second was a goat's milk and sorbet ice. It was odd. It was very tart and off-putting. The first course - smoked scallop crudo - was phenomenal. Amazing smoke flavor with well-chosen accoutrements. Palate cleanser of lemon sorbet with thyme syrup was very sweet. The syrup hardened against the frozen sorbet & was thick and gooey. The second course of rabbit, sausage, & whipped potato was yummy. Very well done! Next palate cleanser of raspberry sorbet and lychee boba was good - better than the lemon, but still overly sweet. I'm not sure how it worked as a palate cleanser with such strong flavors. The dessert was a mascarpone and strawberry panna cotta "cake". I found it to be strange - a mix of textures w/ random salty bits that didn't compliment one another. After the 6th or 7th bell ring, the exec chef (Greg Nettles) & chef de cuisine (Tyler Trice) came out -- clearly a lot of talent there & with the exception of the cleanser & dessert - crushed it! They very clearly took pride in their work and direction. Our dinners at the restaurant (sans special meal) was always great, but this "wedding without knowing the parties" was a bit strange. The pours were generous, food (especially savory) good, & price was more than fair... I just really would have wanted to know about the seating, not been interrupted so much, & have more thought put into the decor and flow. Also, there were missed opportunities. As 75% of us seemed to arrive by 5:45, we should have been seated right away with a special cocktail menu available to us in the back room. More money for you guys and more comfort to the diners. Also, would have loved to have had an opportunity before dessert to be presented a bill and add gratuity for the servers. 20% was already included in our pre-pay, but the staff was going above and beyond and could have been compensated as such. The $85/pp price point was such a good deal that you could have been creative and thought of extras. We would absolutely return, but hope that this review (and other feedback) be taken into account. Events like this have A LOT of promise, but can be tweaked a bit...

Had a wonderful experience at Peck & Plume! The atmosphere is stylish and relaxed, perfect for a date night or brunch with friends. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a spot that feels upscale but still welcoming.

Dined here on a Friday evening with a 5pm reservation and had a lovely experience. The staff was warm, attentive, and let us choose a cozy table by the window. Our server was thoughtful throughout. The food was fantastic—my grilled salmon had unexpected bursts of flavor, and my boyfriend enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich. Would happily come back!

Google
The food was great and leans on the American South cuisine style. I especially loved the pimiento cheese dip. My toddler loved the egg rolls. The restaurant is really cute. The only downside was that it was a little noisy. There appeared to be a more intimate section that may be quieter - it was very lovely with couches and curtains. The server was great - fast and attentive. They also have a bunch of non-alcoholic cocktails. Overall, I would definitely go back again.

Let me just tell you, run, don't walk to make your reservations for this place. It was Amazing!!! We were there about 1.5 hours for a party of 5, but that's pretty normal for a good restaurant. It's inside The Mayton hotel in downtown Cary.. Shrimp and Grits Fish Tacos x 2 NY Strip Stripped Bass with Collard Bourbon Caramel Apple Tart Chocolate Sin Cake Lavender Crème Brūlee Not pictured- Pimento cheese and pulled pork dip with fried pita chips * I don't even like pimento THIS WAS GREAT!! Collard Egg Rolls- a little on the spicy side but sooo good. Second visit= New Menu. The Salmon was the best dinner I've literally ever had. The rice and squash was paired perfectly. The ribeye was delicious- but he did mention the NY strip was better. Focaccia bread with tomato and squash was a good starter. Finally, my nephew got the burger that he said was great. He wasn't expecting the double burger and had to separate them. Another meal, Another Win for Peck & Plume

Went here to celebrate my birthday, would definitely go back! The atmosphere is upscale yet comfortable, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious! I had the salmon and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. Husband had the short rib and he said it was also very good. Can’t wait to return!

Google
Overall, I would say this place is subpar food at an overly expensive price. The airplane chicken was so tough you couldn't cut it with the knife. Several people at the table ordered this and had the same reaction. The wings were pretty good as well as the cheese tray. Service was good until we received our food. Then no one checked on us until almost everyone was finished with their food. So there was no reason to even complain about the chicken.

What an amazing gem right in the heart of Cary! I called to check for availability for two, and the young lady on the phone invited us to come right in, assuring us they would get us squared away. The atmosphere was wonderful, with seating available both inside and outside. Ola was our server, and she was fantastic. Since it was my first time there, she recommended several delicious items from the menu, and I enjoyed every one of them.

Yelp
I was looking for a good weekend brunch/lunch spot in Cary and Peck & Plume fit the bill. The Yelp reviews were generally accurate. This place is popular. During our Saturday visit, the dining room and outdoor patio were full and busy. Book your reservation using OpenTable and earn dining points that can be used for discounts at other OpenTable restaurants, Amazon gift cards, and more. Not all restaurants on OpenTable award dining points, but Peck & Plume does, so that's a plus. Peck & Plume opened in August 2021 inside The Mayton. The Mayton was formerly known as The Mayton Inn. Per Cary Magazine, after The Mayton Inn was bought out of bankruptcy in June 2020, it rebranded as The Mayton (they dropped the "Inn" part). It's downtown Cary's only boutique hotel: https://www.carymagazine.com/food-and-dining/welcome-back-to-the-mayton/ I suggest parking in the library parking deck at 113 Walnut St. It's a short walk through the park and up the sidewalk to The Mayton. We had reservations at 11:45am on a Saturday. At that time, there was an event going on in downtown Cary. All street parking around The Mayton was taken. The library deck had plenty of free parking, however. The cuisine is New American. The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday, 10am-2:30pm. At brunch, the menu (food and drinks) was a simple one-pager. Here's what our group of four adults and two kids ordered: Brunch Cocktails * Bloody Mary x2 (charged $14 each, menu said $12) - Tito's Handmade Vodka, hand-crafted Bloody Mary mix Soups & Salads * Soup of the Day (sip size, $2) Mains * Two Eggs plate ($15) - applewood-smoked bacon, pork sausage, garlic cheese grits, wheat toast * Warm Stone Fruit Preserves ($15) - biscuits, applewood-smoked bacon, garlic cheese grits * French Toast Brick ($17) - mixed berry crush, mascarpone * Smoked Salmon Scramble ($19) - smoked salmon, dill, chive and brie in a pastry shell with petite mixed green salad * Mayton Burger (charged $15, menu said $14) - aged cheddar, Academy Street Steak Sauce, lettuce, tomato, brioche * Side of Bacon (4 strips for $5) - not on menu * Side of Ranch Dressing ($0.50) - not on menu We shared the Mains. Overall, I thought the food was good, not great. Generally, the quality of the food looked and tasted like it came from a nicer sit-down breakfast restaurant chain like First Watch. It didn't have much of a "local" or "homemade" feel to it, to me. The biscuits weren't the best -- perhaps slightly better than average. I think they could've been moister and fluffier. My favorite dish was the French Toast Brick. I think it's called "Brick" because of its brick-like shape. It was French toast smothered in a sweet and tangy berry sauce with whipped mascarpone. Delicious. Yummy texture too. My wife really liked the Warm Stone Fruit Preserves. I thought it and the Smoked Salmon Scramble were tasty. The Smoked Salmon Scramble was well made. The garlic cheese grits were terrific. You get to choose them as part of the Two Eggs plate (the other choice is breakfast potatoes). They're included with the Warm Stone Fruit Preserves. The Mayton Burger and bacon were solid as well, but nothing to write home about. All that said, nothing was bad and I don't think you can go wrong with anything in the list of items we ordered above. My wife and I enjoyed the Bloody Marys. The Bloody Mary is one of our favorite cocktails and Peck & Plume's version hit the spot. I liked their twist with the cornichon, green olive, and pepperoncini. Yum. Service from our server, Hadley, and the hostess was great. Despite a busy brunch service, Hadley was attentive and everything was served in a timely manner. Peck & Plume and The Mayton have a classy-yet-casual, modern, Southern atmosphere. We ate in the main dining room. There's also a large private event space, the terrace (outdoor patio), and study. The study is a cool space, but it's more like a lounge for drinks rather than a meal. However, I believe you can order food from there. The study has a charming brick storefront with white columns and rocking chairs on the porch.

Yelp
The staff at the hotel was so welcoming, the same goes for the restaurant. We had brunch in their library and it was all decked out for the holiday. What a neat space. Our server was personable. But I wasn't impressed with our brunch. Their drip coffee is great. For my entree, I had The Benediction. And the weekly twist was dill and chive in the hollandaise sauce which wasn't that big of a twist for me. The ham was more of a pork chop than the usual ham. The meat was so thick and dry. The breakfast potatoes were even sadder. The flavors were all there but it was so mushy! The grits that my partner had were delicious. The fruit preserves for his biscuit were too sweet. Our server didn't check up on us or refill our coffee after she took our order. She did apologize at the end when she brought our checks. It's the holiday season and we came on a weekend so we understand.

Yelp
Located inside a hotel the place was very busy and very loud. It appears to be an in spot favorite for ladies as most if the restaurant were female diners. The chicken and waffles was average. Chicken had too much breading but the waffle was perfect. The shrimp and grits and burger were well liked by folks at the table. Make sure to visit when not in a rush. We spent 2 hours but since it was a party that was perfect.

Yelp
Gavin was the best! Out service from him was incredible. He did a great job taking care of of our table as well as his other tables. He was very friendly and extraordinarily acknowledge of the menu. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Five stars simply because we loved our breakfast plates, and Gavin gave incredible service.

Yelp
Overall, we really enjoyed our experience. Food was 10/10. We all ordered the shrimp and grits. Next time I'll order an extra side of grits. They were delicious. Service was a little slow, but our server was friendly and very accommodating. Noise on the patio what's about a five. The wind was strong but we moved tables and it was fine. The heat lamps could have been a little warmer but overall it was comfortable. I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Great space especially if they seat you in the "lounge" area. Service was excellent, never left us wanting but the food is okay. Their butternut squash soup was a little too sweet for my taste and the seafood roll was more bread than seafood. I usually order the eggs Benedict but the daily version with corn bread didn't sound appealing. Love a classic Benedict with an English muffin. Wish they offered their "special Benedict" along with a classic Benedict option.

Yelp
Sunday brunch at the Peck and Plume at the Mayton Hotel in downtown Cary, NC. We sat outside on a beautiful Fall day - screens and louvered ceilings kept the cool air flowing and the sun away from our food. Great drinks - bloody Mary's and mimosas are rich, delicious and loaded with the appropriate alcohol. We had the brick French toast, the shrimp and grits, and the smacked salmon scramble. Southern cooking at its best. Great service added to the experience. A fun Sunday!

Yelp
Came here with a large party for a weeknight dinner. Wasn't too busy and we had amazing service with our waitress. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or intimate dinner with friends. Fun drinks and delicious house named whiskey. Everyone raved about their meals, from the salmon to the steak. I had the short ribs with farro risotto and it was spectacular, huge flavor bomb in that risotto and the short ribs were loaded with meat with very little fat/inedible portions. I also started with a Cesar salad and it was OK ( I would pass next time). Most of us also ordered dessert and I would say I was a little disappointed with the chocolate cake, the cake was dry, folks who had the crème brûlée really liked theirs.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant to dine here based on the reviews but am glad I did. Peck & Plume is located inside of the Mayton Inn and is reservation only. You can dine on the terrace, at the bar, in the library or in the dining room. We were a large group of 20 but they wouldn't seat us together. We were originally going to be at two tables and just one or two checks but they ended up putting us at smaller groupings and did do the separate checks. It was a little disappointing not to be near the rest of the group when there were plenty of tables to put us together. I went with the eggs benedict. It was the classic version when I was there so it might be different next weekend. My food came out after the rest of the table's dishes did. The poached eggs were cooked too long so I didn't get the runny yolks I like but otherwise the taste was really good. Service was mostly good and my drink was refilled without asking. But all the food for the table should have been brought at the same time as there were just four of us. I'd return again but in a smaller group.

Gale R.

Yelp
Food was good, but service was fairly awful. We waited for over an hour for our meal to come out after we ordered it. The Caesar salad was average, but it was nice that you could get actual anchovies. The shrimp and grits was pretty solid but very rich. It's a good dish to share.. had a really nice West Coast IPA by Vicious fishes "there be dragons" Ambiance is charming. It was strange. My husband wanted a roll with his salad, and they appeared to have no bread besides hamburger buns when we were told that there was a great bread bakery just down the street!!! They should take some initiative to pair up with the bakery and serve their bread....

Britt J.

Yelp
Third time here with a table top of 13 and they were able to accommodate us timely. I must say the food offerings this time around wasn't as great as my first visit 5 years ago. The ambiance is still nice and great for holiday pictures. Nonetheless, it was fun to experience a new restaurant with colleagues.

Fahad S.

Yelp
Fantastic spot nestled away inside of the Mayton Inn. Offering a variety of seating options inside or out, the decor is well curated and quite inviting. A great spot for brunch or dinner, with groups of all sizes, it is quite a flexible destination. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, offering efficient service all around. The food was fresh, packed with flavor, and presented well, all offered at fair prices. Would definitely recommend and will likely return.

Yelp
I've only had been here for drinks prior to this so I was excited to bring my friend for her birthday brunch! I have zero complaints on food. If you were wondering what a "sip" potion for soup this is it. It's in a cute little tea cup and just enough to get the taste of the soup. I'm absolutely all for this. The eggs Benedict was quite dense but soo delicious! It was supposed to be in cornbread but I switched it out for an English muffin. They lost a star for 2 reasons: 1) you HAVE to make a reservation to be seated. I saw plenty of empty tables but they couldn't "guarantee" them so we had to make a reservation for an hour later and we walked around downtown until our reservation time. Not a fan of that but I guess they are trying to be elevated 2) we were sat in the 'gentleman's lounge' (the room off to the left after you pass the host table) and I honestly think the waiter forgot about us. We were the only people there (which was nice on a privacy standpoint) but also I'm sure it was hard to keep track of us if his other tables were in the other rooms. Not exactly his fault, but he was only there scarcely. No water refills, no checking if we needed anything ‍. Again, not his fault as we were off to the side so take this comment with a grain of salt. But for long we had to wait for the check, I had to mention it. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance and the food so 4stars it is!

Yelp
I came here for dinner after work with coworkers one evening. The restaurant itself is located within The Mayton Hotel. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you are immediately transported into a modern American dining experience. The ambience is old colonial crossed with modern decor. It truly is unique and well executed. To start out, my coworkers, and I shared the scallops, cheese plate, and fried green tomatoes. The scallops were divine; the juxtaposition of the soft scallops paired with crunchy onion straws was a nice touch. They offered a nice variety of cheese with the cheese plate; I felt that was well executed. For my entrée I went for the short rib special. The short rib was soft and melted in my mouth. Sometimes short rib can be over cooked but that was not the case here as the short ribs fell apart as you put your fork into it. For dessert, I elected to go for the intense lemon tart; it wasn't overly sweet and the tart paired nicely with some fresh fruit. It was a great combination.

Ray L.

Yelp
Great experience, service and food! Came for my husbands birthday and they did not disappoint. We were a group of 10 and everyone got something different. There were no complaints, just finger licking around the whole table. The egg rolls, fried green tomatoes, scallops, shrimp, all of it, fantastic! For a hotel restaurant, top notch! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went to Peck & Plume for our Anniversary Dinner. Located inside the Mayton Hotel. The dining room is gorgeous. Atmosphere is fancy. Almost like your at the Kentucky derby. We had the southern egg rolls and the fried green tomatoes for starters. Both absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend them for starters. For our mains we had the Market Trout and the pan seared chicken. The trout was perfectly cooked. Crispy skin. Soft tender flesh. The heirloom carrots ... yummy. The sauce was very tasty as well. The pan seared chicken had great flavor. Rice and a veggie succotash Service was excellent . hostess was kind. Wait staff was busy but effective and efficient.

Yelp
BLUF: Lovely restaurant within the Mayton with a beautiful patio overlooking the new park. Peck & Plume serves great food. One consistent measurement we use for a restaurant is how well they fry their fries. P&P hits this one for an easy triple. They go with a thinner fry and are well fried. The Cuban sandwich was very delicious. We liked how the mustard gave a slight spicy kick and enough acidity to balance the ham and pork. Would have been even better if it was served with half a pickle on the side. I've never had a Kentucky Brown before and this one didn't disappoint me when I tried it. The Mornay sauce slathered over a thick cut of turkey breast and tomatoes made it so scrumptious. Even on a chilly December afternoon, it was comfortable on their renovated patio and gave a beautiful view of the newly finished park.

Yelp
We went for dinner on Friday night The food was AMAZING I had the bucatini with chicken and shrimp The sauce it was in was delicious and the pasta was done just right Shrimp were a nice size and the chicken was juicy and moist My partner had the tagliolini with pesto sauce and a short rib The pasta tasted homemade and the pesto was definitely homemade The short rib was so fresh you could cut it with a fork DELICIOUS !!!

Nathan D.

Yelp
Service | Mimosas | Chicken-Waffles Service - the service at P&P was first class. We never had a moment without full waters, coffees, and needs of the table. They made great recommendations and were helpful answering all of our questions about the menu. Mimosas - we did the pitcher of mimosa which was the best deal and easily quenched the thirst of 4 members of our party getting everyone 1.5-2 drinks each. It had great flavor and was a better than average champagne bottle. Chicken-waffles - I had the chicken and waffles which was above average. The chicken to waffle ratio was 4:5 (chicken:waffle). The flavor of the chicken had a pecan flavor which was light. The breeding was crisp but substantial. Overall, I would recommend the dish - but it's not "omg" level where I wouldn't explore another option if I went back. Pro-tip: cinnamon biscuits were amazing. A must have. They come in sets of 6 and easily feed a table of 8 because they are substantial.

Yelp
I went here for a double date night with some good friends of ours. We were sat promptly on the outdoor patio. The vibes was nice. The inside was pretty cute too. I didn't realize prior to visiting but the restaurant is inside of a hotel. Give yourself a little extra time to find parking. It was a like challenging with options mostly being street parking. The food was overall just okay. Our appetizer (smoked cheese or something like that) wasn't good at all. We ended up sending it back. My husband enjoyed his steak but the sides were lacking a bit. It seemed as if everything was prepped in advance. Everything didn't taste fresh. I got the fish which I enjoyed for the most part. I think I'll come back to try their brunch menu to see if there's any major difference.

Christine W.

Yelp
I'll give a three star for seating my partner and I close to closing time. It was gonna be a two star review because of the food. When we ordered our cauliflower, it came out completely charred/burnt. It was inedible. The service was really good though. Ambiance was okay. I liked our server, but that's about all I have positive to say about our dining experience.

Shelly L.

Yelp
Hotel restaurants have a reputation for being substandard and to be fair to Peck & Plume, I've had a pretty good breakfast there in the past. But today was just kind of a disaster all around. We went for a quick lunch after we checked out. We were seated and waited 20+ minutes just to get greeted. We ended up ordering drinks and food together to try to be helpful. Server was friendly and handling the busyness with a good attitude, which was nice....we just only saw him to get our order and finally to pay. Food arrived and was barely warm. The fish tacos were served on a platter deconstructed which was interesting but not in a good way. Fish was cold, dry and tough. Corn tortillas were also cold and dry. I'm guessing the salsa to be black bean and pepper, it was tired and uninspired, flavors were just basic. The star of the plate was the cilantro sauce and the jicama slaw but overall very forgettable and not worth finishing. The burger was actually warm but again, uninspired and thick and tough. The potato chips served with it were nice and crunchy but lacked salt or any type of seasoning. I can easily forgive slow service when it's busy and the servers are doing their best, it happens no problem. But the food wasn't worth the wait or the money and we regretted our choice. I would give 3.5 stars if possible as 3 seems a bit low considering we've had decent food there before but there are much better choices within walking distance. So when at The lovely Mayton hotel, go to the bar for a drink, the restaurant for a nice breakfast but walk down the street for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
An absolute must stop in downtown Cary! We dined there for my birthday and they did not disappoint. We sat out on the patio, which I'd recommend doing. The ambiance is nice, and if you're lucky you can hear music playing across town while enjoying your meal. We started off with the Taste of South Eggrolls, which honestly I could have just eaten by themselves and been satisfied! The peanut sauce served with them was a nice touch and really brought out the flavors! The strip steak just left me drooling and wanting more! I am a huge fan of apple butter, but when you combine the sweet taste of the butter plus the texture and flavors of the crust on the steak, I have no other words than just "heaven"! The flavor profile is supurb, and would absolutely get this dish again, and again, and AGAIN! The pasta dish was rustic and flavorful and a definite must try! The portion sizes were spot on and found the price point to be expected for the higher quality dining experience sought. We will be back!

Ronda G.

Yelp
We have frequented the Peck & Plume since the opening. It was our favorite place for a drink and dinner. The recent changes are questionable. The best options on the menu are gone. The wine glasses have shrunk down. Who wants to have red wine in a tiny heavy thick rimed glass? The martini glasses are gone. Raise your prices if you need to but these are not good changes .

Kim B.

Yelp
The hotel staff are so friendly and welcoming. That all ended when we got to the hostess stand for the restaurant. No greeting, just stared at. We'd walked in from outside and it's hot today. Apparently, we didn't meet the standard they expected. We told them we'd like a table for 3 and are told to follow someone. She asks the hostess where we're going. A deadpan response with a huff was, "the bar." The amount of judgement and disrespect from these three women was enough for us to decide to leave instead. I get that we'd been walking outside and were in peak condition. We didn't have inappropriate or skimpy clothing either. Too bad, the menu looks good, albeit a little higher. If you're just visiting and not wearing your best clothes, plan to skip. The only reason I give it a 2 is for the lovely front desk worker and the nice gentleman who held the door for us.

Yelp
The two stars is because it's easter Sunday and I am trying to be nice. Ambiance: love the interior, wall paper and furnishing.,Clean and cozy feeling. Service: They were very attentive and quick in providing the service needed. Food: The food was not good in any way. I got waffles and chicken. The waffles were ok but the chicken was just off. Not flavorful and looked burnt. I kept trying to poke the middle to be sure it was properly cooked. Nobody finished their meal it was disappointing. One of the people in my party usually inhales his food and he only eat half of his meal. They did have lots of free desert. I will give them credit for that.

Pritii V.

Yelp
It's in Cary downtown so finding parking can be a challenge. This is a hotel restaurant inside the Mayton. I made a reservation and got lucky enough to sit in the super cozy library side. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and spacious. It got pretty crowded while we were there. Now for the food, the menu could be better. The brunch options were okay and limited. The food was alright. I got the chicken sandwich and the meat was quite dry. It was just a basic sandwich with lettuce, tomato and cheese for $18. My soup had no flavor and I regretted getting it. They don't have any other coffee options other than black coffee. Giving 3 stars for the beautiful ambience and good service. But their food and the menu needs some work for improvement.

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to to converse, you know, carry on a conversation this venue isn't for you. It's way to loud for that. Now, I love Caesar Salads and ordered mine with the anchovies. The croutons were so stale. And it salad was over dressed. Such a disappointment. The service was fine, but the venue was not what I was hoping it would be.

Yelp
The waitress was wonderful but had a lot to work with! Young and snotty hostesses were first impression. Drinks took an HOUR!!! We were getting ready to leave and go elsewhere at 45 minutes when we were assured they would be coming soon. Drinks were yummy. Only 2 in 6 enjoyed their meals. Overcooked, dry, no flavor were things I heard. Again, waitress was excellent. We had planned to go out afterwards but the whole experience wore us out and we went home! What a shame! And it's loud. No thanks.

Yelp
Loved Peck & Plume! Their brunch was fantastic & it was a very casual atmosphere for brunch! The chicken & waffles are amazing!!!

Yelp
Took my wife here for her birthday and was pretty disappointed. Small menu and many of the items that I saw on yelp was not on the menu. We felt the good quality for the price was not worth it. I got a fish special and was still hungry. Fish was just ok. My wife got ribs that was served on a slice of watermelon and the ribs were cold (unsure if the ribs were supposed to be cold). Drinks were ok. My wife got the bourbon flight which was a cool experience. I got a cocktail. Overall it was overpriced and the for quality was not worth the price.

Yelp
Service here was absolutely amazing! Got reservations for a Friday night the day of which was great! It was pretty packed inside, but looks like there was a lot of room on their covered patio outside as well. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
The best part our meal was the coffee but that's not a knock on this restaurant at all. Usually I am a little wary of hotel restaurants because they are generally far overpriced for the the quality of the meal but Peck & Plume thankfully was very reasonable. The ingredients were fresh and the service was fast. It's not a "wow that was fantastic!" kind of place but it sure was a relaxing breakfast with a cozy ambiance. It's also steps from the Cary downtown park which makes it a very ideal location for a walk afterwards.

Yelp
I finally got to sit in the Library! It's a little old fashioned and I'm here for it. I love the decor in each part of the restaurant. Came back for some Crème brûlée French toast. Y'all, they took it off the menu. Low key wanted to cry - if you've ever had it you know why! It was the best.. so yes they changed the menus completely. Anyway I had to move past it haha we order the house pitcher of mimosas, delicious as usual! The hubby got chicken and waffles, they are on the spicy side and the waffles are this perfect milk butter flavor. Very good I got the eggs Benedict of the day. Todays was salmon patty and it was really good. The egg spilled perfectly Over all the service is always great! And the food is good . They have outdoor seating as well. Parking can be tricky just an fyi

Yelp
From the moment you step inside The Mayton, you are embraced with Southern hospitality. We were traveling on a girls trip & we received a lunch recommendation from a local to try Peck & Plume. Dear me! Everything was so very nice; atmosphere, service - definitely 5 star. This is a bold statement, but the fried shrimp & grits were absolutely the very best thing I have ever eaten! If Chef can make shrimp & grits this amazing, it makes me anxious to try his other dishes! I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Do better. We came for my dad's 78th -birthday luncheon. Our reservation was for 11:45, and we were seated promptly. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive on the table. There was a bridal party outside, but if you cannot serve all parties within a reasonable amount of time, MAX 30 minutes after ordering, there is a management problem. When the food finally arrived, it was not served at the same time, which meant our birthday party was not a party at all. Our server was working VERY hard, but was hustling between the outdoor party and our party of 10.

Yelp
I'm happy to provide a 5-star review because the food and service were all fantastic. A huge "but" is that they advertise the outdoor seating as covered and heated. Sounds great, right? Challenge is it's not enclosed like most restaurants. They have screens (very nice for 3 of 4 seasons) but not the plastic most restaurants add in winter. 3 couples froze their "butts" off and had dinner w winters jackets on. Wind blew and it was cold, cold, cold. Great place, get the GM to invest in proper enclosures and we'll be back!!

Yelp
From Favorite to Forgettable: We used to love this place!!! Having been loyal patrons since the original owner opened the doors, we have countless fond memories here, including celebrating our 20th anniversary and renting the facility for the occasion. Everything was always so well done, and the food was amazing. Unfortunately, "was" is the operative word. Our visit on June 15th with a party of six was nothing short of disappointing. The transformation from a go-to favorite to a must-avoid was stark. To say the food and service were subpar would be a compliment. My wife even remarked that we get much better food and service at the Waffle House. It's just not good anymore. Despite giving them multiple chances, it seems this has become the norm. There are so many better options close by, including the food trucks at Cary Park. Sadly, we won't be back. Even sadder is that they probably don't care.

Yelp
Came here expecting an amazing brunch.... 1) the waitress offered me tap water, spring or sparking water. Of course you have to pay for the spring & sparkling. When I asked if their tap water was filtered, they didn't know. Obviously it probably is, and they are just trying to up charge you. 2) they told us over the phone that their patio had heaters, but when we arrived they refused to turn the heater on over our table because apparently all the heaters are connected (which is really a dumb set up). 3) the brunch menu does not have the best choices. I ended up getting the two egg meal, which came with soggy eggs, bacon that I almost broke my tooth on it was so hard. 4) they don't offer a kids brunch menu, only lunch items (which is really weird as well). 5) our waitress was also very rude from the moment we sat down. Overall, very disappointed. Not worth the money & will not be returning here sadly. I had high hopes this would be my new brunch spot.

Yelp
Two star for food. Lack of info online, so we didn't know they DON'T have lunch menu on the weekends and we have to go with BRUNCH menu! Got the seat next to the window with freezing cold wind from door and window! Super late serving of food! Just not a good experience on our first time trying this place. It's the last time as well, at least for couple years...

Yelp
First things first!! If you want to park for this spot you have a few options- 1) Charles Gaddy has a parking lot across 2) a lot behind the hotel 3) side street so in case you're like me and parking challenged in downtown areas you are now covered! You will walk into the Mayton and the lobby area, so take a moment to stop and rest and then proceed forward to Peck and Plum. You'll be taken to your table. We ordered from the brunch menu which was a pleasant surprise to see we still could. Splitting the two orders between two people and we had A LOT of leftovers; now if you came ravenous maybe it would be all gone, but regardless there is plenty between two people. The stone fruit preserves comes from a mixture of fruits with "pits" aka stones in this case apricots etc. also bacon 4-6 slices and herbaceous grits. Now I'm picky being a southerner about grits, so these were alright (they had a film) the herbs and fact yo could taste the use of cream are what saved them in m book. The spicy chicken waffle was fun- the chicken was the showcase here with a lot of flavor and made easy for sharing because it was flat. The waffles were airy and satisfying as well. The establishment itself is interesting not extremely noisy, and holding a conversation wasn't overpowered by music or with a limited space either. We really enjoyed our experience and will be coming back again to share those biscuits with our families!

Yelp
My first encounter was amazing! The brunch is priced decently and definitely worth the experience. Reservations are listed as highly recommended but should be viewed as a requirement. Casual & inviting atmosphere made for a great brunch with a friend.

Yelp
No place to park. The food was good to medium well. The service was really good. It's just too hard to get parking around or near to the restaurant.

Yelp
I came here to eat with some friends from out of town. I had been here once before and had a pretty good experience so I was excited to show my friends a good restaurant. One of my friends ordered the steak. The steak was so salty it was inedible. The green beans and scalloped potatoes were no where near cooked and a waste of $52 dollars. We ordered the meatballs to split between 4 people. Since this appetizer is $14, we expected a decent amount of meatballs. When they came out we all laughed. 3 tiny meatballs over the world's saddest sliver of bokchoy. I ordered the short rib pasta. For $33 I was expecting a decent size coarse. I received 5 pastas about the size of wontons over a bed of soggy Romain lettuce. Needless to say I left the restaurant hungry after having my .75 portion of a meatball the size of half dollar coin and my 5 itty bitty pasta, the portion size of an appetizer for 1. We also got the sangria. Do not get this. It was insanely sweet and if I can only imagine Carlo Rossi gallon jugs were used in the making of it. For $36 too! Insane. I left the restaurant beyond embarrassed and apologized profusely to my friends as I had hyped up the restaurant to them ahead of time. $250 down the drain for a dreadful meal. I will give more than one star as our server was excellent. She appeared mortified after we gave some feedback post bill. A real shame as this was a better restaurant in the area. Insanely overpriced and overall a dreadful experience.

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed in our brunch experience at Peck & Plume today. I called over 2 weeks ago to reserve outdoor seating for our family of 10 to celebrate my husbands birthday. I tried to reserve a 10:45 am seating but the reservation clerk said they already had 2 large parties outside and I needed to pushback time to 11:45 to sit outside with 10 people. My family arrived at 11:45 to be led by hostess to table inside. When I protested and said I had reserved a table outside- she told me they don't seat parties of 10 outside and there must have been a communication problem. Obviously this was not true as after being seated we noticed a large party outside. The noise level inside was unbelievably loud and it took forever to get our food. it was not a good experience.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner with my partner. We always wanted to checkout the Mayton and I recently found out they have a restaurant so it was a no brainer. We made reservations the week before and once we got there, we were seated right away. For food, we ordered short ribs and these delicious fish tacos. The short ribs where tender and the meat just fell off the bone. The puree underneath was the perfect combination. The fish tacos were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Peck & Plume provides a nice relaxed atmosphere for a perfect date night.

Yelp
Great food and service! We had a great time sitting in the screened porch, the best place to be for a rainy Sunday brunch.

Yelp
I absolutely recommend any dish at this restaurant! My favorite as a vegetarian is the fried green tomato brunch (sub scramble for the poached eggs)!

Yelp
Overall a beautiful restaurant. We were inside but I would love to sit outside when it's a little warmer. All the food our table ordered was excellent and reasonable portions. Seating and tables were a good size. Service was friendly but really slow. Not great if you're on a lunch hour. I would go back on a day when time wasn't an issue. Inside what looks to be a really nice little hotel.
