The 11 Best Portuguese Restaurants In London

"Pedro’s is a cosy wine bar on the Bermondsey Beer Mile and a perfect hideaway from the stag do hordes. The staff are friendly and highly knowledgeable about Portuguese wines, offering sips of several bottles. And there are Portuguese flourishes, most notably a fridge with pre-prepared desserts (a lovely touch, get the rich chocolate and olive oil mousse). The small plates are mostly stellar, especially a smoky feijoada and wonderful tempura green beans, the music not overwhelmingly loud, and the mood lighting makes it one of London’s best date spots. " - tome morrissy swan

We got married at Pedro's in January! If you're looking for a venue to host a lovely intimate and slightly alternative wedding, you've found it. We had 50 guests for a beautiful ceremony, followed by a sit down meal and an evening party with about 100 guests. The food and wine was unbelievably good, at youd imagine. The service was incredible, all the staff are so lovely and there was never an empty glass. Also: The view of the shard from the restaurant is good for pictures!

Pedro’s Wine Bar was hands down one of the best food and drink experiences I’ve had in months! I went with my family, and it absolutely lived up to expectations. I’ve been to plenty of top restaurants, and this spot truly is a gem. The food was exceptional, and the wine selection was top-notch, offering a great variety for perfect pairings. Every bite and sip made the experience even better. We had Seasonal tomato salad with marinated creamy cheese; Octopus salad; Pork belly, homemade crisps and pepper sauce; Warm bread and aromatic butter; Delicious garlic prawn; for dessert deconstructed Maria Bolacha We have pared it with amazing sparkling wine and with D’ouro Red Wine The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was warm, cosy, and inviting—just the kind of place you want to linger in. Whether you’re out with friends, family, or your partner, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy quality time together. Amazing food, fantastic drinks, and great value for money—easily a 5-star experience. I’d go back in a heartbeat to this Portuguese Wine Bar!

What a great place to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday! There was a wide range of great wine to choice. The food was delicious with generous portion. I could eat the bacalao with string potatoes everyday! 😋Price was reasonable. Service was attentive. We could not wait to go back! 👍

A lovely hidden gem settled in a residential area. We ordered a good selection of dishes to share. All were deliciously prepared. I especially liked the pata negra, T-bone steak and port. Pata negra is similar to Iberico pork, full of flavour. Steak was cooked perfectly and tender. This place has a nice selection of Portuguese wine and port. Our Waiter kindly explained about the port and let us try a few and they were absolutely fantastic and complimented the desserts. We left satisfied and would return again.

Pedro and his team have been incredible from start to finish in organising our wedding reception. Everything was delivered in such a professional yet friendly manner and the venue was simply perfect for celebrating our special day! We received compliments on the food, drink, service and atmosphere, which have all exceeded our expectations. A big thank you to all the staff for their hard work - we look forward to visiting you again!

THE venue for your ideal London restaurant wedding! We hosted 98 people for our post town hall celebration for dinner, drinks and dancing. Perfect venue to have to yourself and create stages to the night across the two floors. The food was unreal and we had multiple guests comment on it! But most of all Pedro and his team were a dream to work with, making us feel at ease in the whole process, setting up and service on the night! Couldn’t fault a single thing!! Exceeded all our expectations. Highly recommend as an affordable, great location London wedding!

We recently had our wedding at Pedro's wine bar. We had a fantastic day and got lots of compliments from the guests about the food, wine, venue and atmosphere. We initially chose the venue because it has a wedding licence and is dog friendly. That was before we'd visited and tasted the food. Each time we've been there, the food has been excellent and it was just as good on our wedding day. Pedro advised us well on the planning the details of the day but was also very flexible by allowing us to do things the way we wanted. Pedro and his team worked so hard to make our day so special. We definitely recommend it for a wedding or other special event.

Terrific pesticos--some of the best we've had in London. We might have been to more refined Portuguese places, but Pedro's made us feel like we were on vacation. First to arrive was feijoada and sour dough bread. The stew was incredibly flavourful and beans and veg were redolent with the scent of cured meat. Sourdough bread was very crusty and chewy, drizzled with olive oil and a little wild rocket. I would recommend trying one of the other bread options if you prefer a soft texture. We did end up asking for extra olive oil to moisten the bread. Bacahlau a bras was delicious, with a subtle, tempered flavour of salt cod, as if it had been soaked in milk prior to cooking. The gambas were probably the best I have eaten in London. Our waitress mistakenly told me they were shelled, which they were not. The sauce was great for soaking up with bread. The most remarkable thing was the prawns had been properly de-veined, which you don't often see in restaurants in this price range. Tempura green beans were very crunchy and non greasy, though the batter was a little thick. I couldn't taste garlic in the accompanying alioli. Our last dish of seasonal vegetables with roasted almonds turned out to be a radicchio drizzled with vinegar, lightly charred on a grill and served with a toasted almond flakes and a mayonaise based dipping sauce. Excellent and refreshing. Roasted, instead of raw nuts, is one of my measures of the cooking quality in a restaurant. Food was really good. The only let down was that the mayonnaise based sauces did not taste homemade. This was surprising given the very high standard of cooking otherwise. Maybe it was the addition of a little sugar or the use of vinegar instead of citrus that made the mayo's taste as if they came out of jar. We drank the cheapest red at £27.50 which was excellent in our non-expert opinion. Service was helpful and friendly, but it could be hard to get the attention of staff.
