Peixes Opéra

"Near the town hall and the opera house is Peixes – pronounced "pesh" (i.e. "fish" in Portuguese). In its small bistro interior with white and blue tiles and a very Mediterranean feel, fish and seafood cuisine is served in the form of tapas-style dishes (ceviche, carpaccio, fried fish, cod accras). This is a popular place, and spots on the terrace are hotly contested (no reservations!)." - Michelin Inspector

We had such a great meal at Peixes! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The mussel casserole with saffron sauce was absolutely delicious — the sauce had a light sweetness and paired perfectly with sourdough. The mussels were super fresh and plump. The scallop ceviche was a highlight — it was my first time trying scallop served this way, and I loved the bright, tangy flavors. The sea bass ceviche was also excellent — the cream with dill was an unexpected but amazing touch that balanced everything beautifully. But the real standout was the octopus noodle dish. It had both sliced and whole pieces of octopus — the slices were crispy outside and tender inside, while the whole piece was incredibly soft and flavorful. A must-order! The half-baked salmon was good, though more within expectations compared to the other dishes. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you want something fresh, fun, and different in Nice!

Not your typical seafood spot — and that’s a good thing. This place delivers fresh, flavorful seafood with a unique twist that leaves you feeling happy and surprisingly light. It’s not your old-school seafood joint — the menu is inventive, the flavors are clean, and every bite feels just right. Be ready for a line at lunch — but don’t worry, it moves quickly. Patience pays off here. The energy is high, the pace is fast, and the wait is part of the experience. Pro tip: Ask for your condiments with your order. The staff are friendly but busy, and you’ll want everything on hand when your food arrives — which happens fast. Seating is crowded but somehow still comfortable enough for a proper conversation. It’s buzzy, flavorful, and worth the wait.

Saw this on Michelin and thought it would be a good place to try in the old town area. The food was good. I don’t think many places in France can go wrong. Sorry no sorry. Yes food was good but not crazy outstanding. I like the bread, it’s pastry rather than just normal bread. It’s flaky and full of garlic aroma. Seafood was all pretty well prepared but not super flavourful. The appetizers were better relative to the rest. Think my favourite was the scallop. The mango and pomegranate made it very refreshing. The tartare was fine, but the crisp on top was not very crispy when served. Could use something more fresh, maybe peanuts? The noodles were a bit disappointing. It’s broken into many small pieces. Would have preferred al dente. I would say in the heart of a busy tourist area the price and quality combo is fair. One recommendation, if you are normal Asian height like me, try to avoid the bar. The seat to bar top ratio make it hard to dine.

Great place for raw fish. Oysters were amazing, highly recommend them. Other fish dishes also had a wide variety of textured and flavors which definitely made them worthwhile.

Really nice lunch - our waitress Sara was friendly and also recommended us a few spots for drinks at night which we enjoyed. Small menu but quality products. White fish cevice was our favourite dish. Bravo 👌

A restaurant specialised in seafood and located very close to Place Massena, no reservations allowed and it does get busy being so close to the touristy area so make sure to queue up early for this. Queued up a while as there didn’t seem to be any tables for 4 people for a while, but the good thing was the food was served fairly quickly once we ordered. These buttery and flakey bread were served as starter and we opted for the mussels, 6 oysters, white fish ceviche, octopus stir fry noodles and salmon. The white fish ceviche was very refreshing, the oysters tasted fresh like they just came out of the sea and the mussels were something different to try with the slightly spicy kimchi accompanying the dish. The octopus stir fry noodles are pretty nice too with the octopus being very chewy. The restaurant also offers a 22€ lunch set so definitely worth stopping by for lunch and certainly a great spot to stop by for dinner too!

This is a brilliant spot for grabbing a quick bite and enjoying a glass of wine. The menu changes throughout the day, and they do a cracking lunch deal! I absolutely love their ceviche and octopus – both are delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Amazing seafood place. Must order the ceviche and fish sausage … they are delicious. We went around 1230pm on a Friday and was lucky to get a table for 7 on the terrace. The service staff was patient taking our orders too.
