"Near the town hall and the opera house is Peixes – pronounced "pesh" (i.e. "fish" in Portuguese). In its small bistro interior with white and blue tiles and a very Mediterranean feel, fish and seafood cuisine is served in the form of tapas-style dishes (ceviche, carpaccio, fried fish, cod accras). This is a popular place, and spots on the terrace are hotly contested (no reservations!)." - Michelin Inspector

Everything was absolutely phenomenal- from the food to the vibes and service. The creativity, flavours, and presentation in every dish amaze us each time. The complimentary bread was mind-blowingly good. The scallop ceviche was refreshing and appetising, and the tuna tartare paired perfectly with the wakame and wasabi, with a lovely crispy touch from the rice chips and tobiko. The razor clams were beautifully cooked, and the sauce went so well with the bread. The sea bream was grilled to perfection- lightly seasoned to let the natural flavour of the fish shine. Overall, the seafood quality was exceptional and incredibly fresh. Also loved the decor and details like the ceramics, logo, table lamp etc. Truly the best meal of my trip, and I’ll definitely be returning in the future!

Great seafood restaurant. Everything we tried were delicious. Their food has a lot of flavor. It is always crowded especially for dinner.. reserve ahead or head there early. If any wait, I think it worth the wait.

This restaurant is typically crowded due to its popularity, but on a rainy Monday in October we were able to get a table outside without waiting. The ceviche was excellent, and their $22 menu (starter, side, and dessert included) offers great value. The chicken was also very good. I happily recommend this place.

The ambiance at the restaurant were pleasant, but my experience with the oysters was a bit disappointing. They were noticeably salty, which suggests that the excess seawater may not have been drained properly, and there was also a small amount of sand inside, which affected the texture. Additionally, the oysters were served only with lemon, without the usual mignonette sauce that is commonly offered in France, so the overall flavor felt somewhat incomplete.

Peixes is a restaurant that is most certainly worth any wait you may face for a table! The seafood dishes here are delicious and innovative. I love their lunch time offering, it’s great value! The mussels as well as their salmon or tuna tartares are a must try. The scallops ceviche was also an unusual and creative dish, I’ve never had scallops served this way before! Staff are friendly and provide personable service despite the busy nature of the restaurant. Tables turn relatively fast so don’t be turned off by the walk-ins only policy. It’s a restaurant I try to get to every time I visit Nice, not to be missed!

We have only words of praise for this place. There is no reservation, but you show up and they either sit you right away or they ask you to come back in 20min. Don't be afraid of the line because it moves quickly:) The food is exceptional - fresh, well prepared and beautifully composed. Every condiment of the dish is well thought and has a meaning. The wine list is perfect - best of (i really think that you can't make a mistake whatever you order). Very important thing - stuff 💗 They work so hard and they are so busy - but they are very well organized and they are very good at providing excellent service. We really appreciate it. Thank you Naomi, you were wonderful as well as the whole experience. 💞Best dinner we had in a long time, and we will come back for sure. Hats off to the entire team

We had such a great meal at Peixes! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The mussel casserole with saffron sauce was absolutely delicious — the sauce had a light sweetness and paired perfectly with sourdough. The mussels were super fresh and plump. The scallop ceviche was a highlight — it was my first time trying scallop served this way, and I loved the bright, tangy flavors. The sea bass ceviche was also excellent — the cream with dill was an unexpected but amazing touch that balanced everything beautifully. But the real standout was the octopus noodle dish. It had both sliced and whole pieces of octopus — the slices were crispy outside and tender inside, while the whole piece was incredibly soft and flavorful. A must-order! The half-baked salmon was good, though more within expectations compared to the other dishes. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you want something fresh, fun, and different in Nice!

A winner. Just the right size, stylish but not trendy, friendly efficient staff, and excellent food and palatable prices. I was alone and dined at the bar (fun and recommended). The photos I shared are deceiving. Dinner service begins at 19:00 but I sat down early for a glass of wine. It filled quickly once dinner service began.
