Where to Find the Best Beijing Duck in Houston | Eater Houston

"While Peking Cuisine has Beijing duck on offer, the Sugar Land restaurant requires guests to reserve it with at least 24 hours advance notice. The hefty mix of sliced meat and separated crispy skin arrives with soft, thin pancakes, green onions, house duck sauce, and a helping of duck soup." - Megha McSwain

November 2024 We came here from out of town for their family set meals and Peking duck which was one of their signature offerings. We enjoyed the cold appetites and their dessert. The duck was fantastic with the thin pan cake. We also enjoyed the smoke fish. The pricing was very affordable with all great selection. The owner was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and will come back again. Previously, the parking light and safety was a concern. Good thing the landlord reinvested in this property.

Peking Cuisine has quickly become one of my favorite spots for comfort food in town. The value for the price is exceptional, making it an economical choice for group gatherings such as family get-togethers, friendly meetups, or even coworker team-building events. Their combination meals are particularly impressive, catering to groups ranging from three to eight people. For our party of nine, we opted for the seven-person combo with an additional order of duck. Each combo includes three hot dishes and three cold dishes, offering a wide array of choices. Impressively, there are no additional charges for selecting different dishes within the combo, allowing you to sample a significant portion of the menu. While not every dish blew me away flavor-wise, the overall experience was satisfying. The variety ensures that everyone can find something they enjoy, and the portion sizes are generous. It's a fulfilling dining experience, perfect for sharing and trying new things. The only minor downsides were the desserts, which were just okay, and some dishes were slightly saltier than expected. However, considering the price and the extensive selection, these are minor quibbles. In summary, Peking Cuisine offers great value, a wide range of dishes, and a satisfying dining experience. It's definitely worth exploring, especially if you're dining with a group and looking for variety and affordability.

Google
The Peking Duck tasted good but quite pricey. It’s only allowed to order the whole duck from the restaurant, not allowed to order the half duck. The whole roasted duck is for $45 now, and it came with the duck soup. The flour tortillas for wrapping the sliced duck meat and scallion were too thick and the sauce was a bit salty though. The service here was fine. The staff members came to check on us for several times. But I would not say they were friendly, as I did not see the smile on their face all the time when checking on us. They looked so serious.

Google
Excellent Peking duck, definitely their signature dish. The salt baked squid was also really good. Skip on other menu items. Classic home-y Chinese food.

This is our families go to place for great Peking duck among other dishes. The food is always so good and the restaurant can accommodate big party sizes.

Google
I freaking love this place. I was so tired of Chinese food places all being sort of the same level of "ok". Then I found this spot. The best way I can describe it is it's like the Chinese spots you're used to, but better. The general Tsos chicken is so good and not all heavy and mostly batter. The crab puffs are awesome. Pretty much everything I've tried there is a cut above regular Chinese spots. The lunch special is incredible for the price. Please check it out.

Google
THIS IS A MUST!!! Had lunch special (great value), literally best won ton soup I've ever had, as well as the best General Tso's chicken (perfect fry).... my companion had hot and sour soup and it was spot on, as well as the shredded pork!!! Service was perfection!!!

Google
A well-known local Chinese restaurant with Peking Duck as its signature dish among others. Been to this restaurant for lunch or dinner many times since its opening in the late 90s. Consistently tasty food and decent portions with great services. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Hands down my go to place for Peking Duck! I've tried Peking Duck at a few places, and I always find myself coming back here whenever the cravings hit. When eating this dish, I prefer crepes over bao buns. That way I can get more in! The Peking Duck dish also comes with a soup/broth with some leftover duck drums, tofu and cabbage. Other menu items worth trying: Garlic Cucumbers - refreshing and light with a hint of chili oil Eggplant - for all the eggplant lovers who enjoy garlic sauce! Spicy Pork Ribs - well spiced, not bad but a little too much cumin for my liking. Overall, a great place to have family style meals! Service is... average. My only complaint would be the strong cleaner/bleach smell. Each time I come here, it's the same smell!

Yelp
I have fond memories of meeting family and friends here as this used to be our family's go-to restaurant growing up in Southwest Houston. (especially when visitors were from Beijing, this was the spot we'd bring them for authentic Peking food) The Peking Duck has always been the signature dish, and they've done a solid job with some other authentic offerings over the years, like one of my all-time favorites: 京酱肉丝 (shredded pork in bean paste sauce). If you're coming for the duck, I'd say call ahead as it takes time to prepare. It does come with all the fixings: scallions/leeks, Chinese-style pancakes, and the hearty duck soup (still one of my personal favorites). The space is large and includes a private room, which makes it great for big gatherings. Service can be hit or miss. Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, we used to know the waitstaff from visiting so often, but ownership and staff have changed alot since then. On this most recent visit, my mom and I took a trip down memory lane and ordered a few dishes. I was excited to try the lamb skewers (串儿) but unfortunately they were overcooked and a bit tough. When I asked the server, he offered to exchange them but didn't really care and gives off a cold reception, I didn't want to trouble the kitchen so I just didn't bother. Still, it was a letdown. My mom ordered an eggplant dish from the vegetarian menu (not the garlic sauce version), and she wasn't a fan because how it felt undercooked. Thankfully, the shredded pork with scallions lived up to memory for me, it was flavorful and just as I remembered. Overall, it didn't quite live up to the nostalgia, but still a solid choice if you're craving Peking Duck, I probably won't be back regularly beyond that.

Yelp
Everything was overall average at best. The food wasn't very flavorful yet extremely oily. Peking duck: 3/5 the only flavor came from the hoisin sauce. Green beans: 2/5 mushy and oily Salt and pepper squid: 1/5 overly breaded without any squid. I only ate breading lol Egg drop soup 4/5 The service was great though! Our food came very fast and the server is extremely sweet. Lots of space for parking and good ambient.

Yelp
This humble gem is known and renowned for its Peking duck in town and it really is amazing! I love the Peking duck here. Crispy skin, moist duck. No frills or fuss place that serves great Peking duck. Truly one of the best! We didn't love the Szechuan crispy spicy chicken as it was kind of dry but we enjoyed the other dishes like the honey walnut shrimp and jiggling pork belly. The cream cheese rolls are great too! Service was decently quick and we were served well.

Yelp
Came here on Thanksgiving with family for their Peking duck plus other goodies. I had been here several times throughout the years, and I hope for even more. The dishes here are priced a little higher than in Chinatown. The menu is extensive and served family style. In order to secure a duck, it is best to call ahead of time to reserve one. It comes with duck soup and flat tortilla like wraps. Another item that we loved was the sweet and sour fish! Beautifully battered and fried to a golden crispness and then drenched in sauce, it was the definite star of the show and favorite. The beef and green onions looked good, but it lacked flavor and was mostly green onions. I enjoyed the big fat dumplings, though they were on the salty side. This place is perfect for large gatherings as they offer many large tables with lazy susans available.

Yelp
Restaurant is just off 59 in a non-descript strip mall. It was not busy when we entered and was seated right away. The decor is a bit outdated and the first table we got felt a little sticky and moved to a different table. They are known for their Peking Duck. They were the first one we found that offered crepe rather than bao. Ordering Peking Duck also comes with Duck soup. Soup was tasty with sliced cabbages and some type of noodle (?). Duck itself was delicious. Son was crispy and met was flavorful. We also ordered a side of mustard green and tofu. Something different from our regular vegetable dish. It was fresh and love the beans and tofu that came with it. Staff was friendly and were pretty efficient. Hope they will update the decor in the future.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant for years and I always get the set menu because it is so good and so worth it! Unfortunately, the menu only comes in Chinese and does not have an English version, but you could use a translator if you wanted to. There are so many dishes to choose from from the sat menu and I got the three people menu for $48. To be honest, it's enough food for 4 to 5 people. Service is good and the place is a little outdated but food is so good. I just love coming here.

Yelp
I found a dead bug squished between my to go food containers. Really lost my appetite after seeing this. I tried a bite of the chicken and broccoli but the meat did not look right and it was super salty. I ended up throwing it away along with the rice that the squished bug was on top of. I'm glad I ended up not ordering the Peking duck to go as well as that would have been $48 down the drain.

Yelp
One of my favorite family own restaurant. I went there for dinner pretty offen. I order Peking duck which the skin very crispy, good combination with their back bean sauce and green onion. My husband always order their red spicy soup which contains pork blood and organ, taste amazing. The service is average. Parking is big.

Yelp
Wow! My last review of Peking was 13 years ago. We've been back here a few times but not frequently. The place was empty when we arrived which made service really fast. To be honest, I was astounded by the price increase. In 2011 the Peking duck was $26 and now it's $45. The quality is still really high with crispy skin, thin wrappers and great soup. Yikes, talk about inflation. We also ordered the sweet and sour fish but they brought us the fish with vegetables which was fine. It was $23 though so I was also shocked by the price. The only affordable dish we ordered was the house special lo mein which came with shrimp chicken and beef ($10) Overall, food was still good, still greasy, but way pricier than I remember from even a year or two ago. I think there are better restaurants closer to Chinatown which could provide same quality food for the same price. I would only go back for special occasions, or if I really wanted Peking Duck.

Yelp
If you love Peking duck! This is the place for you! This hole in a wall place is amazing for the Peking duck . I like how they use the tortilla to wrap the Peking duck instead of the baos because the bao usually makes me full fast with all that dough. The service is good when it's not busy but when it's busy service can be okay but overall this place is still a must try if you love Peking duck. Also they have some other dishes that I enjoy besides Peking duck that I always get here ! You must get the sautéed green beans and salted calamari ! Also don't leave your belonging in the car if you dine there it is located in a ghetto area so be aware but overall the food is a plus! Peking duck 4.5/5 Sautéed Green bean 4.7/5 Salted calamari 4.3/5

Yelp
For a restaurant named after their flagship dish, I expected a better Peking Duck. If you want the Peking Duck, you have to place an order one day ahead of time. I tried calling three times at different intervals to place an order, but kept running into a full mailbox and getting disconnected. Not a problem, because I was passing by anyways so I went in and ordered in person. When I informed the manager that something was wrong with their phone, he didn't believe me and told me to try calling again. Odd, but whatever. If you pre-ordered the Peking Duck, the first dish that comes out is, well, the Peking Duck! It's made to be served at your reservation time, so all they have to do is bring it out. The fast arrival is nice, but the problem with this method is that everything comes out dry and cold. The duck didn't seem fresh and the wraps were all stuck together. The overall taste was still good with hoisin sauce, but I don't think it was worth the price - there was definitely room for improvement. The Peking Duck soup that comes with it was bland, but at least came out hot. Service wasn't bad but it wasn't friendly either. I don't recall seeing our waiter or the manager smile once. Our waiter had a careless expression the entire time and didn't care to check on us. When our Peking Duck soup arrived, the waiter didn't help pour it into individual bowls as typically would at other Asian family style restaurants. The elders at the table noticed, but were too polite to say anything. The restaurant isn't located in the trendiest area. The parking lot and entire complex is dirty, and gives a questionable vibe. I was hoping the interior would be different, but was sad to see the same. Tables had no cloth, which exposed their true age with signs of lamination peels and wear marks. The harsh white lighting didn't help either, as it reminded me of an old run down hospital. For large parties, an automatic gratuity of 15 percent is applied. This is normal and even specified on the menu. We were charged 18 percent. For the principle and because of the mediocre service, I questioned this to the manager and had to argue to fix it.

Yelp
The worst ! Don't bother coming here. Called and checked in Google and Yelp. Took $24 Lyft here No answer no notice they were closed ON A SATURDAY. Just this sign saying kitchen closed for repairs today. Why would you close the kitchen on a Saturday - your busiest night and not tell anyone ?? Unless you were forced to close it, maybe say after a health inspection ?

Yelp
For authentic northern China cuisine, this place is the one to be at. Their peking duck is by far the most authentic one I've tried around in Houston where you get the thin crepe instead of the bao. I also love the mala chil flavoring thats engrained in this part of China's food scene. Their sizzling pepper beef came out in such a large and delicious dish that it was so easy to just gorge on that. We also got a large steamed fish, fish maw soup, a few other cold dishes and and some fried ship to top us off. All of these dishes were executed very well and very generous on portions. One gripe that seems to be a constant issue is that the restaraunt skimps out on turning on AC or just have good general airflow. It felt stuffy the entire time we were at the restaurant. Overall, the food was very good as long as you stick to the authentic stuff.

Yelp
This place is not what it used to be. Everything I ordered was awful( Peking duck, chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork.) do yourself a favor and try any other Asian restaurant on bellaire. Save your money and your tastebuds from this miserable experience.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant has been around for as long as I can recall. We mainly come here for the Peking duck and duck soup. They offer the authentic Chinese tortillas instead of the steamed buns you find at other spots. If you plan to visit on weekends, I'd recommend giving them a call in advance to reserve the duck. While it may not be the best, the other dishes are solid 3.5/5. The pricing is very reasonable for the portions. The combo menu offers even better value (sadly only available in Mandarin). Overall, this place offers great value for large groups interested in sharing and exploring the menu together.

Yelp
This place looked promising. Great reviews, great pics. You have to order the Peking duck 24 hours in advance. Surely, this is a good sign right? Unfortunately, it was a letdown. Our party of 10 came on a Friday evening and ordered a Peking duck (24 hours in advance, as needed) and family style. Dishes we ordered included: - Peking Duck: the actual Peking duck was good. It came with hoisin sauce and spring onions, along with 10 tortillas. The tortillas were good, but on the thicker side. If these were thinner, they'd be perfect. If you ask for more, they charge you $2 for 10 more. - Duck Soup: as part of the Peking duck. This was okay. Not too much flavor and had a few veggies in it. - Salt and Pepper Squid: this dish was my favorite. Flavorful and plenty of squid. - Cumin Lamb: this had really good flavor but was a bit dry. We hardly made a dent in this, sadly. - Stir Fried Green Beans: these were okay. Nothing special, but not bad. - Sichuan Chicken: not super spicy, not super flavorful. Not a big fan. - Chicken Lo Mein: this was average. - Salt and Pepper Pork: again, very average, pretty dry. When we received the bill, there was an 18% gratuity already tacked on, which we expected since we had a party larger than 6. But on the menu, I had noticed that a party larger than 6 had a 15% gratuity, not 18%, so watch out for that. Overall, would not recommend and would not come back. There are much better Chinese food options elsewhere.

Yelp
Always delicious. Love the special lo mein, cumin lamb & green beans with ground pork. First timing trying their pan fried stuffed buns & probably will skip that next time.

Yelp
I came here to try Peking Chicken for my first time. It's so good! I haven't even tried Peking Chicken out anywhere else because it's so good here! The price was $40, and it feeds two people. This price is fair because it's duck! .ost places are charging around $30-40 for duck, and it's just for a leg! Here, the dinner comes with a soup, and they throw duck legs in it! However, one time, they didn't bring the soup out. I don't know if they ran out or if they forgot about it. It was disappointing, and it almost got this place a 4 star instead of 5. I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. I think the service could be better. However, the food comes out and tastes good. If you've ne er had Peking Duck. Come here and try it out with someone. It's amazing and a great good experience for anyone.

Wei Chou C.

Yelp
Amazing food like it has been for the last 20 years. Service is about as good as you get considering how busy they are at times. We enjoy their food at least once or twice a month. Ambiance is your typical Asian restaurant so you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
This has to be the go-to place to get Peking duck in Houston for me. Reserve duck in advance of your visit. Nicely prepared and also served with a big bowl of duck bone soup. The other sleeper on the menu is the Peking meat pie - a must get it. Service is straightforward and ambiance is casual. A bit further than the rest of Chinatown but worth the trip.
google avatar

Yelp
General Description: A Chinese restaurant. The good: - Nothing. The bad: - Broccoli had maggot like bugs on there. This makes me so angry! Look at pictures. - Ordered ahead and specifically asked for the duck soup. When I went and picked up the food, they said they didn't make the soup. I can't believe a restaurant can operate like this.

Yelp
This is my go-to spot for Peking duck in Houston. I love the way they cut the duck for you, making it easy to make wraps out of it. I especially love the crepes, or "Chinese tortillas" as they call them on the menu. The Peking duck is so addicting because of the crispy skin and juicy meat. I could probably eat 10+ wraps. They also give you a soup that they make with the duck bones. Another menu item I recommend is the crispy tofu with garlic sauce! Definitely come here if you're looking for an authentic Peking Duck experience!
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
A very authentic Chinese restaurant! There's so many options, I highly recommend the 3/4 people meal combos. You get tons of small plates to share and can sample a bunch of different foods. As a vegetarian the options are less, I wasn't super blown away by anything. The eggplant was meh and the liang pi was good but didn't make a large impact on me. My family really loved the duck. So I think that would be worth coming here for, but personally I am not sure if this would be a place I would visit again.

Gabriel L.

Yelp
We were craving Peking duck so I remember this place from years ago , went here and the Peking duck was good , I didn't like the soup as the choice of the 2 way duck. I would like to have a choice . The service was fast and friendly . And the atmosphere was average . They need to add cucumber to the Peking duck for wrapping . The sea bass was good. But rather expensive for the amount .
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
We chose this restaraunt to try the Peking duck and left a little disappointed. Food was average, tables were kind of dirty, and it just felt kind of meh. If you want to order Peking duck, they request you let them know beforehand. The dish was served with slices of duck, wrap, cucumber, green onions, and hoisin sauce. The duck was cold and kind of dry. The skin wasn't crispy and was more like regular chinese bbq roast duck rather than Peking duck. The wrap was quite thick, kind of doughy, and not great. Being one of their signature dishes, this did not live up to the hype. Xiao long boa: it definitely tasty but it was not xiao long boa. The wrapper was thin and the meat filling well seasoned. There was no soup inside though! And the bottom was crispy as if it had been fried. The other dishes we tried were black pepper squid, lo mein, and some fried pork and chicken dishes. I didn't eat these myself but the concensus was they were lacking flavor.

Yelp
If you're looking for a review of the Peking Duck, this ain't it! We haven't tried it yet - we fully intend to once we can get 2 more people to split the food and the bill, but ever since we had lunch here, we are obsessed. What first drew me to Peking Cuisine was hearing about one of their lunch specials; I noticed they serve "Shredded Pork With Dry Tofu", which is a dish I tried and loved years ago on vacation, ordered by friends more well-versed in the local language than me. Peking Cuisine's recipe uses green onions, while the dish I had used salted mustard greens, but it was close enough - not to mention delicious, and an unbeatable value. Just $8.55 for a huge portion with fried rice, plus soup and appetizer of choice? Yes please! We went again today and I ordered their Sweet And Sour Fish, and it pretty much blew me away. As I'd hoped from its place on the more 'authentic' half of the lunch menu, it was the exact same dish I'd had previously at MUCH higher price points in Chinatown restaurants. The fish was cooked to crispy perfection and screaming-hot straight from the fryer, served in a more-sour and less-sweet sauce that complimented it beautifully. Even my husband, who prefers a beef dish 9 times out of 10, was eyeing my plate with jealousy after I let him try some. I plan on ordering my way through most of the lunch menu sooner or later. I'm an adventurous eater, but even I like a good General Tso's every now and then - and I have no doubt this place could do that classic Americanized dish the justice it deserves.

Yelp
Great place to go to if you are craving peking duck in houston! I love that they serve their duck with the chinese crepes instead of the bao buns which some other places do, though i must say their crepes are a bit thicker than how I like them to be. Also wish that they serve cucumbers with it to give the wrap that extra crunch. We also got other things such as the mu shu pork, green beans, eggplant with garlic sauce, spicy cold noodles and they were all pretty solid, but nothing special.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Best place in town for Peking duck! You do need to make reservations for it to make sure there's a Peking duck for you when you arrive They do not take reservations for table, but only for Peking duck unless you have more people in your party. They have TRUE REAL Chinese food, if you like "American Chinese" then this is not the place for you. Love love their food, highly recommended. Service is great, staff is friendly.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
You come here for the Peking duck ($40), which is recommended to call and reserve before arriving at the restaurant as they do sell out. I still think this is the best place for Peking duck because of how they expertly cut the duck. The crispy skin is separated from the meat and is served with the thin pancakes instead of gua bao that other restaurants some times serve. An order also comes with the duck soup, which is good, but nothing special. Additional pancakes are charged extra. Another dish that I was impressed with is the bitter melon with black bean sauce. Under the restaurant wok the black bean flavor is able to perfectly infuse with the bitter melon and balance out the bitterness. Skip the fried rices - you can find better elsewhere I think.
google avatar

Huyen C.

Yelp
They are always busy! We didn't have to wait for a table though, and ordered the duck which came out super quick. Service was great & the food was delicious! The shrimp was also a favorite of mine. Definitely recommending trying. They also do pick up and you can eat in the comfort of your home! Love coming here!

Yelp
Excellent Peking Duck. I felt that the Spicy Sichuan Chicken could use more spice, but it was still very good. Staff were very polite and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The prices are also very reasonable considering how much food you get. Overall a great option for Chinese food in Houston.

Yelp
Went for dinner and the food and service were amazing. We got the Peking Duck, Ribs, Spinach, and Crab Puffs. All had some great flavor but the Duck was really good. Will definitely go back soon to try more entrees.

Yelp
So far the best Chinese meal I've had in Houston. Reminds me of the family Chinese restaurants growing up in Vienna/Fairfax. Mad props to my coworker for recommending this place! Best way to judge a Chinese restaurant is the Peking duck. It's in the restaurants name after all! It's freaking delicious; skin is crispy, dark and white meat is tender, and the flour wraps are thin but able to hold up. It's simple to concoct: skin, duck meat, scallions/leeks, duck sauce, wrap up, and scarf down! Pan fried dumplings is another dish they're famous for: comes with 8 and a spicy chili oil on the side. Dumplings are thick with a nice crust and succulent filling. Oh, and how could I forget the sweet and sour crispy fish!? Fish is crisp to perfection and mixed in that sauce, ooooo mama!!!! I haven't had a bad dish here. Even dishes I've tasted for the first time (chilled jellyfish, eggplant in garlic sauce) were tasty and would definitely order again. The menu is large with traditional Chinese dishes and also your typical Chinese-American standards (General Tsos, Beef & Broccoli, etc.) for those picky eaters who refuse to be adventurous (shouldn't be eating with them anyway)! The dining area can seat about 40-50 when packed so if you're having a large party (8+), make arrangements. With COVID, they've removed tables for social distancing and still doing carry out. Restaurant is BYOB if you wanna bring a 6pack or wine for your meal. Been here twice; first time was just me and him. Second time, we brought more work people. This is his family's favorite spot for Asian family meals as they've been eating here since they moved to Houston in 2006. After my experiences here, no doubt I'll be bringing my family here when they visit Houston!

Yelp
I got the Peking duck dinner for takeout with my family. You need to call in ahead at least a day in advance to order a duck. I think the price was somewhere over $40, so it was a very good price. The duck and sauce were great. I would've preferred the pancake to be a little thicker because it was kinda flimsy. The green onions tasted weird. The soup was also not very good, but I didn't expect much from it. I'd definitely get the duck again.
google avatar

Thea W.

Yelp
There was a bit of a language barrier when ordering so we didn't get exactly what we ordered LOL but it was completely fine! The green beans were SO DELICIOUS!!!
google avatar

Queena Z.

Yelp
One of the best Peking duck I've ever had! I really enjoy how they trim the fat off of the skin and meat before serving. Usually Peking duck is full of fat and oil and I feel gross eating it but not at Peking Cuisine. The sauce was also pretty good compared to other places. The wrap is a bit thicker but it's nice. They also have duck bone soup made from the rest of the duck and it's quite peppery imo.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
No frills Chinese spot that's been here forever in the same plaza. Service is as you expect in Chinatown but you come here for the food. Parking is readily accessible. Get the duck; everything else is pretty average but the duck and duck soup is done in the traditional Beijing variation. Good bang for the buck as well.

Yelp
Coming to Peking cuisine is always a wonder experience. My family has been coming here for the past 20 years and the food has always been consistent and wonder in flavor. Peking Cuisine is a local Chinese restaurant serving the best Peking Duck. With their Peking duck course, it comes with duck, tortilla, and a soup. How I like to construct my Peking duck is grabbing a warm and chewy tortilla adding a spread of their house special duck sauce and then laying a hefty amount of green onions on top of it. I then grab some pieces of duck and some crispy duck skin and put it all together and enjoy the amazing flavors of this great dish. Some of their other delicious dish is Dan Dan noodles which is a chill oil base noodle. I would say this meal is pretty spicy but the spice mesh extremely well with the chewy noodles. Although everything on their item is tasty, I want to highlight one more dish which is the sweet and sour crispy whole fish. The whole fish is fried and coated with this amazing tangy sauce. Then when you dive into the fish, the silkiness of the fish combine with the crispness blend together so well. I have no other words for it beside it being amazing. In addition, the service was spectacular. With all the food that we ordered it came out quickly and hot. With all that being said, if you want Peking duck this is the place to go!!!

Yelp
My family has been coming here for 15+ years. It's my favorite Chinese restaurant in Houston!! We always get the peking duck. You should call ahead to reserve one. If you get it to-go, of course the skin won't be crispy, so we usually reheat in the oven or the air fryer to get them crispy again! The soup they make with the remains of the duck is also soooo good. But sometimes, the kitchen is so swamped that they just give you the ingredients to make the soup yourself (if you're getting it to-go). The peking duck here comes with the tortilla-type wrap instead of the bun. More room to eat more!! We also always get the mapo tofu, the salt baked shrimp w/ shell (椒 盐 大 蝦), and the Fu Qi Fei Pian (夫 妻 肺 片). We also like the 蔥 油 餅 Pan Fried Cake W/ Green Onion, 京 東 肉 餅 Peking Meat Pie, 芝麻苕餅(甜) Crispy Yam Cake (4)(Sweet), 回 鍋 肉 Twice Cooked Pork, water boiled fish, and more... I am drooling so much as I write this review... There are so many delicious things! The employees are also so nice. We've seen the same employee/manager for 10+ years. We've also had some parties here (they have 2 private rooms). We love eating both in the restaurant and ordering to-go during the holidays. Our go-to restaurant for holidays, birthdays, celebrations, and sometimes we just crave peking duck! I love this place!

Yelp
Incredible 10/10 experience. Peking cuisine has the best quality duck with the most tender meat and crispy skin. The duck dinner is so worth its value and comes with a massive platter of sliced duck, warmed tortillas, green onions, sauce, AND a giant bowl of soup with more duck inside. The serving amount is more than enough for two people and can probably feed closer to 3-4. Would also recommend the green onion pancakes, which are so savory and come out so fresh!

Yelp
We shared a large bowl of wonton soup and we both gave it 3 stars. Most places have some vegetables in the large bowl, not here, the broth was very flavorless, the wontons were too al dente for my wife, I liked them a little better. The lunch portion of General Tso's chicken was very tasty, crunchy exterior and tender innards, it came with a 2 fried egg rolls that were very good.

Yelp
So good! Highly, highly recommend checking out this place if you want to get Chinese food in Houston. We ordered a Peking duck ($27-$30) with a Chinese tortilla and green onions, with crispy duck skin and moist duck meat. The sweet and sour fish was really good--we ordered ours boneless. We also enjoyed the Dan Dan noodles which were spicy but packed a good kick. Everything here you cannot go wrong ordering!

Yelp
As soon as I reached Houston, several people recommended this place. Everyone said the duck is BOMB. I pre-ordered the duck in case the place is packed on a Friday night. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty when we got there. As soon as we ordered, they brought the duck (The perks of pre-ordering). I like speedy places. Especially since my friends and I always hangry peoples! The sauce for the duck was probably the highlight of the experience. It was just absolutely perfect on top of the wrap and the vegetables. Without the sauce, the duck would have been too bland and probably just tasted too fatty. The tofu soup that came with the duck was also very light and refreshing. A great contrast to the fattiness of the duck. The fried green beans was a little different than what I'm use to. Instead of stir frying it with minced pork, they used pickled vegetables. It was different but not unpleasant. I think with all the meat, the minced pork would probably have been too much anyways. I gave the overall experience a 4/5! I think I had really high expectations for the duck but it was still a little too fatty for me. The sliced could have been thinner and crunchier but overall still yummylicious!

Yelp
Yummm!! Definitely a place worth checking out if you're looking for some good Peking duck! Atmosphere/service: casual place with lots of tables perfect for a family style meal. It can get pretty busy but they're very good about getting the tables cleaned and ready for the next customer as soon as someone leaves. The people are very nice as well Food/price: - Peking duck: we ordered 2 for a group of 6 (they say each one feeds about 4 people) and we called ahead to place our order. This is the winner of the night! It comes with sliced scallions, "Chinese" tortilla, the yummy brown sauce, and of course, the duck already sliced into ready to eat pieces. Assembling it and eating it is the most fun part. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed! And the cool thing is, they give you free duck soup at the end for free! - mapo tofu: spicy but not overpowering. Was it my favorite mapo tofu in Houston? No, but it was pretty good. I honestly wouldn't get it again though since I would wanna try the other menu items - veggies: green beans and snow tips. They love their garlic and I'm not going to complain bc I love it too! - salt and pepper calamari: actually super good. The calamari was crispy and nicely seasoned. Would definitely get again Overall, we paid about $108 total for everythin! Can't wait to come back for more!

Yelp
As one of the original, best spots in Houston to get Peking duck 15+ years later, it tastes just as great then as it does now, despite all the new competition that have higher prices for better restaurant ambiance. They require reservations for Peking duck due to the volume, so it's highly recommended even if you want to try your luck just to show up. The skin of the duck is just the right amount of crisp on the outside to still maintain a level of juiciness on the inside. They provide the traditional complement of scallions and sauce and you wrap everything in the traditional thin pancake (looks like a thin tortilla) versus the bao bun that other places do. To top it off, they serve a generous sized duck soup with nappa cabbage and tofu. The pricing and amount of food that you get here versus other places puts this place at the top of my list for Peking duck. No matter what part of town you're from, it's worth the drive!

Yelp
I had pretty high hopes for this restaurant as my friends hyped it up and told me that this was their go-to place for great Peking duck. We also booked the private room since we had a party of ten people and thought it'd be a good idea to have space to ourselves. There is a minimum order if you don't want to pay for the private space and I don't remember exactly how much, but luckily we made the cut. The service was efficient and they kept our tables drinks filled but nothing extraordinary. We ordered several dishes including Sichuan cold noodle(this was the best dish we had as it was refreshing and coated with adequate spice), spicy beef cold dish (sliced thin and yes spicy again), jellyfish with garlic (it's not difficult to make), + a lot more I don't recall because it was not very memorable in my opinion. The main event of course was the whole Peking duck. While it looked great, it only tasted okay. The skin wasn't crispy enough and the meat wasn't very tender. The thin pancakes and the condiments that go along with it were typical, but the duck just didn't seem appetizing. It was too similar to any random roasted duck at any given restaurant, which is subpar. Not all roasted ducks are made equal. All in all another Chinese restaurant looking to serve a variety of Chinese foods yet maybe a little too confident in naming themselves after Peking. If I come again, I'll be with a group of people who insist. I'm not going out of my way to eat here because there's a lot of better and quality restaurants that serve similar dishes in Chinatown for a better price.
