"QJD Peking Duck, set to open at 5901 Westheimer Road in Houston, is the second North American location of the famed Quan Ju De Roast Duck restaurant from Beijing, established in 1864. Known for its Peking duck, the restaurant offers a menu featuring a variety of duck dishes, all presented with meticulous attention to detail. The opening, originally anticipated for July 20, has been postponed to August." - Amy McCarthy

Even though there weren’t that many people, we waited awhile to be seated. We ordered the Peking duck combo, mapo tofu, and green beans. The duck is okay and the other dishes were very salty. The food was pricey and we were lucky to have a friend to give us a food voucher to help with the cost. I don’t think we’ll be going back.

The environment is good and the service is ok. However, the food is not that authentic and a little expensive. The cold spicy chicken has much more bamboo shoots than meat. Both the beef and chicken taste insipid and less seasoned. Overall the restaurant is fair, but this is definitely not a Sichuan restaurant I would recommend to friends.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Houston. It's quiet, clean, neat, organized, and sophisticated. The furniture and interior design is cozy, and there is ambient music in the background to make the experience better. The service is fast, the waiters are nice, and the food is fresh, delicious, and authentic. There is always adequate parking. There are lots of choices, and the portions are large for the price. The presentation is good. My favorites are the sliced bean curd skin in chicken soup and sticky rice in lotus roots.

We came during their soft opening to have my big sis's B-Day dinner last night. And, yes, they really do serve the best Peking duck in town! The duck was fresh, moist, crispy on the outside and flavorful. We ordered several other dishes that were on par with any other place you would find in Chinatown. Oh, the soup dumplings were delicious as well (my g/f said they were the best she's had in Texas). I would pass on the crispy rice with egg yolk...looks/tastes like a cheese rice crispy treat. Nope! We did have a mix up with our reservation, but that was due to poor communication on our part. The staff was very accommodating/helpful to our situation and took care of us. The restaurant was slammed last night and they looked a bit short staffed. Hopefully, they will resolve this issue soon. I will definitely be returning to try their other stuff!

I have been here for the first time. The place is spacious and large comfortable chairs. It was not very busy for Sunday night diner time. We went here to try out their foods. We ordered over ten dishes but none of them stand out or got the WOW response. An order of peking duck for $65 was one (1) star - expensive, so little skin and meat (one duck? I dont think so) and they should make it a show by cutting the duck by the table. The Dungeness crab for almost $50, one star - skin crab, not meat and poor presentation as you see in the pictures. Duck heart was a pass. They use cumin as their cooking main ingredient in some dishes, I did not like much the taste of it. Mapo tofu was too much running sauce with the spices that tasted weird. The beef dish for $32 and it was bad, over cooked, too chewing and dried. I do not plan to go back because foods in Bellaire and sw chinatown area have much better foos and way cheaper.

Amazing food and atmosphere. This is a newer restaurant in the area, only been here a few months but it should definitely be on your list of places to try. They have a Peking duck meal to share in between 2-3 people for $48. They have a great menu and good service!

The wait time for peking duck is over 40 minutes long. For a place that advertises duck, they are really dropping the ball here. They should have informed people to make reservation ahead of time. Still waiting for the food at the time of writing. Update: Their peking duck is good but it doesn't matter if you give them 24 hours heads up. You are bound to wait about 40 to an hour for duck. They seriously need to work on their food delivery speed.

This is the venue of my work group's annual holiday dinner. We get the VIP room and enjoy a tasty lunch and cozy, private space to do our White Elephant gift exchange game. A new photo surprised us for our 2016 celebration - apparently the senior George Bush and his family came here this year for their New Year's family dinner!
