Penang Seafood Restaurant

I used to go Penang frequently for biz trips…and I missed their Penang CKT. And thru fren recommendations… came here to try their Penang CKT. I was blown away. This is one of the best Penang CKT in Spore. (Better than Penang Kitchen at Far East Plaza). Here, this dish has wok hei, generous pork lard bits (that’s freshly fried not kept overnights), and rice noodles were flavorful and not too oily. If only Spore allow duck eggs, then this is as good as one gets in Penang (where the latter use duck eggs to fry) The other dish I had is the handmade prawn roll. This dish is quite common in Spore, so nothing special to me. I will be back to try other dishes…!!!

It was a delightful experience! The prawn was irresistible to eat and the flakes on it were crispy too! An extra bonus. The volcano chicken made everything better! The jaw-dropping show made me fascinated ! The flames rose to the very top and created a smoky smell. The fire was ENORMOUS! The chicken was juicy and crunchy at the same time! It was also air conditioned which made cooling breezes of air flow around my family and I like the breeze.

Food is value for money at this restaurant setting. Chilli and other condiments are on self service. I hope the restaurant could provide a box of tissue on every table. May need to reserve table for weekend. The toilet requires revamping.

Went at about 1245pm on a Sat afternoon. Didn't make any reservation and staff indicated we could be seated indoor. Ordered medium portions for assam laksa, char kway teow and nan ru fried pork. The char kway teow had some smokey wok flavour. The taugeh was firm and crunchy, there's lap cheong, pork lard, egg, prawns and tiny cockles. I liked the assam laksa more as its broth was so appetising. The nan ru pork was well fried but not too strong of a flavour. Overall, food was tasty and staff that attended to us, was friendly.

The assam laksa was so delicious, with huge pieces of makarel and a scrumptious sour broth. Sooo good! Worth the 8 dollars. The char kway teow also had a lot of wok hei and hum! Great!

First visit to Penang Seafood Restaurant — overall a pleasant experience with flavors close to authentic Penang-style cuisine. 🔹Garlic Steamed Baby Cuttlefish: Fresh and tender, nicely infused with garlic aroma, steamed just right without any fishiness. 🔹Seafood Fried Bee Hoon: Great wok hei, crispy edges with soft inside, generous seafood portions, rich in umami. 🔹Penang Laksa: Bold, tangy, and spicy broth with a strong fish base — very close to the real deal. The thick rice noodles absorbed the broth well. 🔹Stir-fried Kang Kong with Squid: Crisp and flavorful, good balance of seasoning and well-cooked squid. 🔹Beancurd Sticks (Fu Zhuk): Soft and silky with a rich soy aroma — simple but surprisingly good. 🔹Nam Yu Pork Belly: Crispy outside, tender inside, deeply marinated with fermented red bean curd — very tasty and great with rice. 💬 Service was polite, though food took a bit of time to arrive. Clean and simple dining environment, suitable for gatherings. 📌 Will return again — recommended for those who enjoy Penang flavors!

I’ve been patronising them since they were still a small restaurant behind Aljunied MRT - and we are talking about 15 odd years ago. Food is always on point and up to standard. Price is reasonable. I love their zichar. I recently tried their lala Hokkien mee, I feel that it tastes better than most popular Hokkien mee stalls. Of course their Tai zi mifen, Penang assam laksa, etc are all classics. They never go wrong
