Casual, family-run eatery offering a menu of Italian soups, salads & sandwiches in a laid-back room.
"Pennypacker’s, the soup and sandwich experts known for making a pretty perfect porchetta sandwich, closed up their 11-year-old Magoun Square shop this month. But for those still hankering for a bite of that porchetta, Pennypacker’s is still alive and well at downtown Boston food hall High Street Place and they’ll also be at Snowport, the Seaport’s holiday market that runs from November 8 to December 29." - Erika Adams
"The porchetta sandwich from Pennypacker’s is served on ciabatta, with accompaniments changing by the day (with a little luck, the sweet-and-sour onion agrodolce is on offer), and it’s essential Boston eating. If you’re there, you might as well order some fried buffalo Brussels sprouts too, or whatever else looks good on the ever-changing menu. Hours at the original Somerville location are pretty limited; head downtown to Boston’s food hall, High Street Place, for an extended schedule." - Terrence Doyle, Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Nathan Tavares
"Pennypacker’s serves the best porchetta sandwich in town. Enough said. Ok, I’ll add one more thing: Grab whatever soup or salad is available; they’re always good too. —Rachel Leah Blumenthal" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle, Nathan Tavares, Karen Wilber
"I’ll spare you the details of the somewhat disastrous Rome stretch of my Italian honeymoon a couple years ago, but one good thing that came out of it is an appreciation for porchetta sandwiches. Magoun Square’s Pennypacker’s — which will eventually expand to downtown Boston, opening at the forthcoming High Street Place food hall — shares that appreciation. The shop, food truck, and catering operation offers an excellent and always changing selection of sandwiches, salads, and soups, but there’s always a porchetta sandwich of some kind on the menu, and it’s always one of the best sandwiches in the Boston area. —RLB Currently offering takeout and delivery. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Order: Official Website (takeout) / Grubhub (delivery)" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle
"The restaurant announced that it is hibernating for the winter." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
