Penthouse Pool & Lounge

I don’t have a membership, but my wife does, so I’m a frequent visitor. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious and the pool is great! It’s a great place to unwind and just have a tiny vacation from life or as I’ve seen a few people do, work from the pool!

Great place to come relax and have a good meal, and low calorie alcholic beverage. Excellent views of the Navy Yard area.

Love this place. Great views and people. Food is pretty good too. However the food options are limited in the sometimes because it is too hot to cook?

We love this place! Life feels just right when we find the time in the day to swim and relax up in the pool and club. The staff is fabulous! Attentive, remembers drinks, welcoming, etc. A very comfortable experience that makes city living all the better.

The pool is very beautiful. Drinks could be a little stronger plus the elevator in the parking garage was broken. (Minus 1 star)

Navy Yard has always been my favorite place to relax and the staff at Penthouse are above and beyond. Super grateful for them.

Was unable to get in the pool, not enough waitstaff which made service so slow. So waiting for food/water on a hot day where you can't get in the pool was awful

She's bbbaaavckkkk Ms.Mary got a well deserved promotion this summer and the cocktails are all the better for it! Home made ginger syrup, home made strawberry purée, an actually spicy and sour jalapeño margarita that isn't just sugary.... Her sense of balance and beauty is palpable. Staff is hard working and kind this summer, making an attempt at getting to know the members. Kitchen is also tasty and fresh but dinging a star for no gluten free bun or corn tortilla option for those of us who'd love to have some of the sandwhich options but can't :) . Managers Freddy Vin and Ben have fought to keep the environment clean and welcoming this summer and it shows. Ms.Dee keeps admissions like fort knox and it's much appreciated ! Thanks to Mike for keeping the staff motivated and all the cleaning crew !

I don't understand all the low ratings. A group of us decided to spend a whole Saturday at Penthouse. I went in with no expectations as it's a rooftop pool in the city. This usually means super slow service, with mediocre food. Needless to say, I was extremely blown away with the ambiance, food, and service. Ambiance: surprisingly when we went it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. The scene was more relaxing than party central. In addition, the establishment had brand new modern furniture with cabanas and day beds. We had a nice view of the sunset Service: the service was 5 stars! Our waitress, Anaiah, was super friendly and helpful. She had a big smile on her face the whole time. She made sure we were taken good care of. Also, a shoutout to Ty for charging my phone. He offered to charge my phone as the battery was running low and he did it without a frown. Food: please keep in mind that you're eating at a rooftop pool not the Ritz Carlton. The food was pretty good considering where we were dining. I got the chicken avocado sandwich and my boyfriend got the hamburger. The burger and chicken were cooked well. The fries were crispy and delicious. I personally thought the food was priced fairly. We decided to order a bottle of rose so I can't speak for their drinks. But for four orders of food and one bottle of rose we ended up spending around $30pp (4 people total) not bad! My boyfriend and I ended up staying till around 8pm. It was such a relaxing yet fun Saturday! We will definitely be back :)

I've been going to this Membership Only pool for about 4 years as a guest of one of the members. Up-to 2 weeks ago, I've had nothing less of a great experience there (hence the two stars) I'm not sure if there recently switched management, but the new manager Mark was extremely racists towards me and my friends. It started at the check-in counter and it never ended. You could clearly tell he didn't want us using the pool. He even told us the pool closed an hour before it actually closed just to get us to leave. I'm quite sure if we hadn't been going there for years and didn't knew the hours and protocol he would have kicked us out. Good luck to anyone black getting good service from this place smh.

Yes - sometimes they are busy and you have to wait a bit for your food, but the last time that happened to me they gave me fair warning. The staff they have hired this summer is super friendly! I have enjoyed the new ordering and payment system, which has greatly expedited checkout and made it easier to split our tab. The bathrooms could be maintained a little better and the drinks are pretty pricey for the strength. Overall, it is a good atmosphere and oasis from the DC heat. The pool is always clean. My biggest complaint is that no one seems to actually know their policies about minimums for cabanas and guest passes. Every staff person I ask has a different answer.

The reason I came back this year because I thought it would be like last year but now they are implying new rules and the best server they had isn't there any more. Darryl was the best the new staff seems less interested in us and more so on each other. Also Germmus is no longer there. Also cash only is a hassle at times I never heard of that before. Pull it together penthouse.

Really disappointed in the service. Came here with my boyfriend who's a member and we waited a long time for our food. The server was nice but when we asked the manager why the food took so long, we were given an attitude. The other location's pool is better

This location just might redeem my relationship with the Penthouse Pool -- I am not a huge fan of the location on U Street, but when I have time I head over to this location (at the Yards). The space is just as beautiful as the location on U street but the service is actually somewhat better. Whereas I can go to the location on U street and be ignored for over an hour after I get there, I am consistently greeted and asked if I need anything at the Yards. The food's not bad, the drinks are interesting and the pool is cold enough. The prices are typical for a DC bar--a little on the high side for what you get. I took off a star for the price of membership; if the U street location was as well run as the Yards I'd probably keep my membership next year, but it's just too hard for me to get here with enough frequency to justify the price.

The menu, service and staff are first class. Simply outstanding and delicious food. Highly recommend it. A big shout to Management, the Servers and Kitchen staff. Definitely will be back!!!!

Much improved! My first visit during the 2016 season was abysmal, but after a constructive complaint to management, the service was MUCH improved on my second visit. I was greeted within 6 minutes, and food delivered within 12 minutes of arriving. Within minutes of finishing, my used plate was whisked away, and I had a check moments later...100% improved. Thanks for your action in correcting the problems. Keep up the good work.

Try the Kale Salad! Kudos to the chef and staff! The salad comes with a generous portion of fresh fruit and other fixings. If you sit at the bar, Kirby will prep some amazing cocktails for you. Request to management: please offer a non-alcohol based ice tea. Another great addition to the area!
