Had delivery here, great place very quick unloading. They also have store upfront so you can check out their spices, they got any spice you need!

Kaab

Google
Best place to buy spices from , beautiful outlet Everything you can think off

Scott McIntosh

Google
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Their store is great, fun decor and well laid out. And there no better spices period. We’ve been using them for decades, their gift boxes have been well received and started many of my friends on Penzeys journeys of their own. I HIGHLY recommend them!

Tammy “Lil' Marzipan” B

Google
A nice selection of spices with good promotional deals. The customer service is always a hit or miss, but it's pretty easy to find what you'd need on your own.

Hadi Johnson

Google
Some of the best seasoning and spices I have EVER had. The service at the store is always top notch, and I love the company values.

Isaac Dunston

Google
Great smelling store. I have been to other locations but this was neat with it being connected to their processing facility! Service was great, everyone was helpful and kind.

Lisa Depies

Google
Such a cool store! We enjoyed the areas where kids could explore and play (and pretend to drive a tuk tuk). The spices were arranged logically, which made finding things easy. It was nice to smell the various spices and read how they could be used. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Kathy Brown

Google
I loved coming here and purchased spices to be shipped. Great experience and very helpful staff.

Yelp
A flash 50% off sale I saw on Facebook brought me in but I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now. I purchased 12 different spices and each one is unbelievably delicious. You don't realize how lackluster box store spices are until you get your hands on some from this shop. When you walk in things seem overwhelming but it's all well organized and there's signage including on the labels to let you know the best use for each spice (for example, best for poultry, pasta, salad etc.) there's also lots of different sizes so you can buy smaller jars or packets to test things out instead of having to buy big bags of product. We also scored a free jar of spice with our purchase and got a free sticker too which was a nice, unexpected touch. The staff were also super friendly and helpful which only made me love this place more. So lucky to live nearby so I can restock on my fav spices routinely.

Yelp
Amazing service. Amazing spices. I love the salt free line as well. Great employees. Look around, they have everything you need. Cute shop and you can get everything you need there or online. Most of all...I love everything they stand for.

Rohan D.

Yelp
This is the best of the Penzey's stores, it's right at their warehouse. There's a tuk tuk in it which they won't let you drive but still, it's pretty cool. There's a little wheelhouse for kids to play in, and they let me play in it after all the children were done, so that's cool too. No better place to get pepper!

Elaine D.

Yelp
Great individual spices and I love their spice blends too! Pick some up whenever I am nearby for business!

Toni M.

Yelp
I have been buying Penzey's spices for decades. Then Oaktown Spice Shop opened on Solano and I have divided my business between them, although I'm cooking less and less these days, so I buy fewer spices. The middle of September I received an email from Bill. He is outspokenly, unabashedly progressive and his email contained a link showing Kamala Harris visiting the Penzey's store in Pittsburgh and customers' reaction to her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpTCweo0tCQ As you might expect, there was a backlash from the Bully-in-Chief and Fox News. In his email Bill offered $50 Penzey's gift cards for $35, along w/ half off all orange spices. He was overwhelmed w/ orders, per a later email. I bought 3 gift cards and a small box of spices, mostly to give away to friends. When my box arrived a few days ago there was a colorful magnet saying CARE, which I put on my car, as well as a Hugs coin. In the spice box there were stickers and recipe cards and exhortations to vote. Bill's politics align w/ mine and I appreciate him raising his voice and wish his business much success.

Karen V.

Yelp
The customer service at Penzey's is incredible, as is the quality of their spices. I purchased a variety of gift boxes for friends and neighbors, and they come ready to gift with special touches (e.g., recipe cards, magnets, and/or pins) inside. The Joy box makes an excellent gift for those who enjoy a touch of cinnamon in their coffee. Also, Penzey's has numerous options for vegans, which makes gift-giving easy. I'm a customer for life!

Rusty S.

Yelp
Horrible quality food products and bad customer service. The spices are super dry and lacking flavor that is expected in a fresher product. Come to find out they are posting anti Trump and anti Republican sentiment on social media and on their webpage claiming to be the resistance. I'd encourage everyone to use a different business that is more pro America.

John M.

Yelp
Penzey's Spices is a company that is headquartered in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with branches throughout the United States. The one closest to me, in Winter Park, Florida, has permanently closed down. However, with the convenience of mail-order, Penzeys spices are still a viable reality for me. I also want to add that they offer free shipping on orders f po retu dollars or more, which is not that hard to hit when you are buying spices. A few had asked me why not just buy spices from the supermarket, which for certain spices I do. But as I have discovered, all sources are not created equal and there can be a huge difference when buying premium spices versus buying spices from a dollar store or a discount rack. One spice in particular, Penzey's cinnamon, is far better than other ground cinnamon that I have tried. In fact, my son and I compared Penzey's cinnamon to a cheap brand and the difference was epic. I would recommend this as an outlet for your spices. If you are doing mail order, I will say that I received it promptly and am satisfied with the whole process.

Bill Z.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Penzey's. Every store I visit will probably get 4 or 5 stars, their sales staff are great, and the spices really are fresh. But this particular review is about my online customer experience, which I am directing to their HQ, which I believe is at this address. On December 24th, I made an online purchase. It was not my first time ordering online, and I deliberately waited until 12/24 because this wasn't a Christmas order and I wasn't in a rush or in need to express ship anything. I filled out my order as usual, went to Checkout, and clicked to submit. I thought I saw, for a fraction of a second, a confirmation message, but then unexpectedly, I wound up being back in the checkout page, my cart still full, with no emails, no error messages, no diagnostics, or no fields flagged as in error. I had no idea if it went through. I also needed to check with my credit card company to see if a request had been processed, denied, etc. before I felt comfortable ordering again. The next thing I did was send an email to Penzey's customer service, from the link on their site, requesting confirmation on whether they received an order. I got an acknowledgement message shortly after submission, but it said their customer service department was closed for Christmas, and that they would resume on 12/27. I'm torn about this. On the one hand, I think it's great that Penzey's would give all their employees the time off. But on the other hand, Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for shipped goods, and to not provide any customer service at all for a window of at least 3 days is ... unusual. Once I got the credit card confirmation that nothing bad happened, I did resubmit my order without problems, on the 26th. But I never heard back from customer service. Maybe they decided not to get back to me since they saw I did subsequently submit my order. Still, a "You're all set!" would have been nice. UPDATE: I did finally receive a confirmation that my order (the second submission) was processed and shipped. That note came on 12/31, 5 days after I made the order, 7 days after I submitted the inquiry. I'll certainly be looking forward to getting my spices back at the stores, either curbside pickup or eventually going back in. I know that will always be a good experience.

Yelp
I've been gifted Penzey's spice mixes twice, and both times the spices have left me underwhelmed. The BBQ dry rubs were seriously weird tasting. As someone who cooks daily and appreciates good spices - I'll stick to making my own spice blends with product from elsewhere.

Emily S.

Yelp
I adore Penzeys. It is one of my favorite places to shop in general, and my favorite place to find spices. From staples like amazing peppercorns to special blends like Fox Point, Penzeys is phenomenal. Treat yourself to a new blend to inspire your cooking or pick up a gift for friends and family. I started going to Penzeys due to their admirable and honest political stance after the election in 2016, but I was quickly drawn in by the quality. I love to cook, and the spices have not only amplified my dishes, but have inspired me to try out new recipes. Penzeys has many convenient locations with friendly employees (my favorite being the original warehouse) throughout the Milwaukee area and the country and offers ordering online as well. Subscribe to their email list to receive weekly offers and discounts. The spices are worth the cost based on the quality without any discount, however Penzeys always rewards their loyal followers with good deals. As their mantra goes, "love people, cook them tasty food". Do yourself (and your taste buds) a favor and check them out!

Anne C.

Yelp
This store is sensory overload in the best possible way. I never knew that Penzeys Spices home base was in Wisconsin until my friend mentioned it. The store is attached to their warehouse but there are no tours. What is offered is a large showroom with all their products on display for purchase. I loved how organized it was and that you could smell each of their products before purchasing. Their prices are no less expensive then in their catalog but if you are lucky you might score some free samples if you purchase enough (which was not hard for me to do) which is a great way to try something new. Definitely a place to check out if you are looking for good quality spices and don't have a retail store in your area.

Rick R.

Yelp
With the closing of the Spice House location on 84th & Harwood, The Penzey's plant, warehouse, and retail store around 120th & Capitol Drive is the next closest location for me to get quality spices on the west side. The location is odd, but if you stay on the road until you reach a massive parking lot, you'll find the sign for the store. :) Once inside, the space looked too big for the inventory initially, but that's because the ceilings are high, and I was so used to the cozy space at the Spice House on 84th St. The bottom line is that this location has everything you need and everything you don't need, at least not yet. In addition to that, the staff, at least the woman that helped me, knows their stuff! I told her what I was looking for, and she made three recommendations of other similar spice products. I also received a free spice for having a minimum purchase of $30, so bonus! So, while the location itself lacks the character I was used to buying Penzey's spices in, it's still a Penzey's spice store and a local business, so I will continue to support them!

Terra D.

Yelp
Flavorful spices that celebrate and appreciate community! Thanks for remaining a strong and responsible business.

Ian V.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced spices. Don't waste your money. A lot of better places to buy spices.

Peter K.

Yelp
Excellent place- staff is great taco seasoning GREAT! You can order for pick up. Great company values - humanists and environments champions. lOveit

Karen J.

Yelp
Spices are not as fresh and tasty. Extremely expensive. Don't buy from here, buy bulk, as they are much fresher and they don't go to waste in your cabinet.

Arlene S.

Yelp
Penzey's Spices has always provided a superior product with fresh spices, intriguing blends, and dedicated staff. I find it extremely sad that there are so many who are so offended by Bill Penzey's emails promoting kindness that they feel compelled to give Penzey's Spices a one star rating based on that alone. Ironically, these are the folks who most need to be reminded to walk through life with kindness! Bill Penzey, please do not be deterred by these naysayers and continue to Heal the World, one spice (and one email) at a time.

Linda G.

Yelp
Best spices and seasonings I have ever used. Unfortunately there is not a brick and mortar store near me, but I have received great service buying on line. I'll never buy grocery store spices again!

Melinda S.

Yelp
Wow, I love this place. Their products are premium so of course, they are going to be a little more expensive than your $1 spices at the local grocery store. It's suspicious there are 5 one-star reviews just in the past month. Probably some angry people who don't have the same political stance so they need to complain on Yelp to make themselves feel worthy for once. Anyway, Penzey promotes love and acceptance. If you can't get on board with tasty food and love, then don't go here.

Karen L.

Yelp
I've been to other Penzeys stores, but this one is definitely the hardest to find. It looks like you're going into the parking lot of a factory, which is kind of disconcerting. They have signs, but I guess the husband I missed them while driving around in circles with our GPS... That said, there is plenty of parking! The store itself is the same as any other Penzeys. They have jars out for you to smell and offer several sizes of bags and bottles depending on what you need. I stocked up on a few things, and since I spent more than $30, I got a free little bottle of something too. The employees seemed friendly, but didn't offer any help while I was looking. Overall, I'm not blown away but I don't have any issues. The husband likes to cook with a lot of spices, so I'm sure we'll keep coming here when we're in town.

Mary M.

Yelp
I love Penzey's! Not only do they have the best quality of all the spices we are familiar with, they also have more unusual herbs and spices to try. Better spices mean better results, and Penzey's are fresher than what you find in the grocery store. I like trying their blends, too--it helps me to be creative without buying more than I need. Keep up the good work!

Bridgette K.

Yelp
Sign up for the emails! They give away amazing stuff all the time. I put their vindaloo in so many different dishes, and the berbere is nice and hot. I'm not an amazing cook, but they help me to not eat bland food, with the bonus being that they're local - Thanks Penzeys!

Elle L.

Yelp
So glad I finally made it into the shop- I've been buying their spices for years online. What a charming place! Was able to get all the spices on my list and even picked up some interesting new blends to try! So many curries - omg. Staff was super helpful too.

Missy F.

Yelp
Excessively dried out and flavorless. Was really hopeful for some of their blends, but there was an unusual balance of flavors. Thinking there may be an improvement over the selection I ordered from Amazon, I also ordered from their website. No such luck. Much better herbs/seasonings out there for the $$$$.

Joan W.

Yelp
I have only purchased their products on line. They are reasonably priced, offer great deals, and their spices all have great flavor. My purchases always arrive quickly and safely. I appreciate being able to purchase in smaller spices. Thanks to Penzeys for continuing to support and give back to the community, and for sending inspiring emails. There is a lot to do to heal our country, but we can do it with a touch of spice in our lives.

Carol M.

Yelp
Have used Penzey's spices for years and been pleased. I get emails regularly with specials, and frequently an essay by the company owner who shares his thoughts and opinions. This is generally not a problem but the most recent essay was an offensive post-election tirade. This came into my home via company customer mailing list. I did respond directly, asking for my name to be removed from the email list. The next day I called to make sure I'm off the catalog list as well. I spoke to a very nice young woman who shared that she had been getting calls like mine all morning. Checking the company Facebook page I found a very lively discussion on the essay. I added my thoughts respectfully. It is the company owner's right to have strong opinions, it is the customer's right to turn away from political attacks. Comments opposing the essay were removed and those posting these comments have been banned. This is a childish response showing no respect for customers who were offended. Again, it is the company owner's right to do as he pleases with his social media pages, his Facebook page is his virtual house. He has forgotten that he sent his unrequested thoughts into the actual homes of his customers. I will not do business with Penzey's again.

Nicole H.

Yelp
This is like a warehouse/production facility, but there's definitely one of their stores tucked in near the back. I actually love the way that its situated right off Hwy 45, it's really convenient to hop off and on the freeway If you sign up for their mailing list, you'll get constant coupons for free spices, which is pretty awesome. I never want to just go in and grab the freebie, so I've been stocking my spice rack and replacing some older stuff. Their boxes make great wedding gifts or you can create your own little kit, as well. I love their various neighborhood-themed spices and their taco seasoning is my go to - from actual tacos, to sprinkling in cream cheese for my taco dip to a dusting inside my quesadilla - so much better than the grocery store packets.

Christopher M.

Yelp
I finally broke down and searched the Penzey website...and, my! How happy I am that I did so!!!!! If you purchase enough to qualify for free shipping, you're paying prices equal to or less than McCormick, and MUCH better quality. I had to call Customer Service because my shipping notice never went out, and THE SWEETEST, nicest woman answered. SO personable, while very proficient and knowledgeable. Everything arrived fresh and exactly as ordered. They even through in a nice portion of a sample spice! Penzey has made a lifelong customer out of this guy!

Leigh-Aynë T.

Yelp
Spices are okay.... but some of their employees are not the friendliest to people of color. They didn't even speak to me for the 30 mins I was in the store. Wrote to the company to let them know about my experience and still have no response. Most likely won't be going back.

Vicki Y.

Yelp
I am going to make a long story as short as possible. First of all, the spices, dried herbs and oils one gets from Penzeys are top notch. Recently an order I placed arrived a bit damaged. I called Penzeys and they immediately sent out - no questions asked - a replacement. When I realized after a few weeks that I had not received my replacement, I called again. They searched and noticed that no delivery confirmation was noted, so they sent yet another replacement. That, I received - in record time - but today, the long lost package finally arrived, bruised battered and bandaged with a note of apology from the postmaster. Penzeys did not just replace the item that was originally damaged, they added four more items! FOUR! Not just the damaged item, not just one freebie to compensate for the delay, but FOUR items. This is way beyond the professional courtesy one would expect. I don't think Penzeys will be doing this on a regular basis, so don't cry wolf just to get freebies......

C S.

Yelp
I have been a customer of Penzeys Spices for many many years and told my foodie friends about them. I'm sad to say that for a $12.95 "Earth Day Book" they have lost me as a customer and I will be sharing this horrible customer service with my friends. More detail: they send an email saying with a $10.00 purchase they will include the new book for free. I ordered $31.23 worth of spices. I input the code in the email to get the free book. Spices arrived and no book. I called and Bridgette answers. She asks if I ordered on line or called in, I ordered online. She says "well, if you had called in we would have taken care of it, you must have input the code wrong and there is NOTHING I CAN DO".....really? "That's right, there is nothing I can do"...Then she says "well, maybe I can ask management for a special approval"..... really? Good customer service = not. Then, I get "have a great day". A company which has happy customers at top of mind would have jumped at the chance -without a big to-do - to send the book to me. Not only did I spend the requisite amount of $10, I spent 3 times that! There are many companies who now sell spices and I've been give an opportunity to check them out, since my loyalty to Penzeys is gone. I am sad about this and feel let down. The Penzeys stores PEOPLE have been awesomely wonderful - maybe they should go train management at headquarters - I assume that is where the call goes when you call 1-800-741-7787. I HATE writing bad reviews. But, maybe Penzeys management might read this and see their service leaves a LOT to be improved. I'll never know, one way or the other. p.s. I am writing this specifically about Headquarters - not the terrific stores.

Deborah H.

Yelp
Great place to get spices via the mail. They have great bulk buy pricing which really cuts the cost of high quality spices. Gift boxes are perfect celebration, shower or wedding gifts and everyone will tell you it was one of the best gifts they got (I use them frequently). They are adding more exotic spices over the years including good collection of whole dried peppers. They are now setting up retail shops so stop in and enjoy the smell/taste.

Annemarie D.

Yelp
If you need spices, come to Penzey's. But first sign up for their email coupons. Lately, if you spend $5 you get two free spices. Usually, the free spices are not things I would ordinarily buy but this is a great way to try some of their inventory. What's my favorite? I don't even know where to start. There's definitely something for everyone. These probably cost most than your local grocery store but I believe that Penzey's has better quality. This location is also their warehouse. So when you enter the parking lot just keep driving until you see the store signs. It definitely doesn't look like there would be a store there. The employees are always super helpful and friendly. On one visit, I was given 5 free spices due to all the different email specials. That was like an early Christmas! Did I mention that this is a local company? Come on, buy local. You will be glad that you did.

Sarah E.

Yelp
I've always loved their spices but I really love that Penzey's is taking a stand for what is good in this world. Also their service is amazing! I recently placed an order and forgot to enter a coupon code. 100% my fault. I sent off an email to see if there was anything they could do. The next day they called to let me know my account was credited. They are an upstanding organization with excellent service and they have a dedicated customer in me!!

Kelsey S.

Yelp
I love Penzeys. In my continued attempts to adult, I've found spices can really make or break a dish-- and Penzeys are some of the best. This location can feel a bit tricky to find-- it's behind the factory, so you have to pass the security gate (really, just drive in). I drove past it the first time for fear of somehow trespassing. Now that I know how to get to it, this is my go-to store. The staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Their gift sets are amazing and have become my go-to for wedding and holiday presents. If you anticipate shopping here regularly or even just once in a while, it's worth signing up for the email list. I can't count the number of free or discounted jars I've collected through their email promotions. If you've been following Penzeys, you probably know they're not shy about their politics-- given that I share many of their sentiments, I think it's great to see a company that wears its heart on its sleeve. But if you're not the political type, don't fret-- the emails are still worth the coupons and you won't get any politics in your in-store visits.

K A.

Yelp
What!!! Save the Earth by putting a regular catalog, with a "few extra recipes" into a hardback binding? What are you saving? Not more trees. This is a silly idea, I've known a few people who were so taken aback by this they sent the catalog/book back. Mr. Penzey is giving the store away too! Freebies everywhere! Everything is child colored now, I guess child labor is alive and well in Wauwatosa, Mr. Penzey's kids are obviously the marketing geniuses behind everything now. Customer service isn't what it used to be. These folks are seriously stressed out in the call center. No new spices either, just re-branding the same old-same old. Too bad, nothing lasts forever. It was good knowing you, Penzeys. Good Luck!

Kristen C.

Yelp
These employees are the rudest people I have every met...and they barely speak English. Spices are so overpriced and of poor quality. The spices I get from the local supermarket are far superior.

Michael N.

Yelp
20 year customer of this company. Bill Penzey's recent insulting email and Facebook comments toward all Donald Trump supporters, suggesting we were ALL sexist, racist and homophobic, were appalling. I am walking away and never buying from them again. I was teetering anyway, as Mr. Penzey's political rants have stepped up recently. The last order we purchased from the Naperville store, we were not pleased with the quality, increased prices, or smaller sized packages. Being lectured by a spice business owner was the last straw. He has as much credibility as Miley Cyrus in my book.

Becky D.

Yelp
Penzeys is one of the best things about Grand Rapids! I love their spices. My parents have been buying from them for years, and when I started living on my own I started to receive Penzeys bottles as gifts. If you have a question about something the staff is great, and if the person there isn't sure you can just call the company. If anything goes wrong, they will take it back. Not that I have ever need to. They have gift boxes that make lovely gifts. And their catalog sometimes includes a coupon for a free bottle of something. Darn, I'll have to come back!

Sofina N.

Yelp
Though there are several awesome retailers here in SF who carry great spices, sometimes I have to shop online when I'm looking for something obscure, or want to take advantage of stocking up on everything in one go. For those times, you can't beat Penzeys. They have a great selection and prices, and they ship your order quickly. Everything I've ever ordered has been fresh and of high quality. I've returned again and again through the years and have never been disappointed.

Paul K.

Yelp
save your money..nothing special except..overated,overpriced & rude customer service

Doug P.

Yelp
Placed an online order Sunday, on Monday had a fraudulent charge form a Milwaukee company (Near Penzey's), then a big fraudulent charge, Emailed Penzeys, said someone would contact me. No contact, called them, said they would look into this and contact me next week. Be careful if you place an online order with them.

A M.

Yelp
When you pull up into Penzeys, it feels like you're about to enter the offices of a manufacturing warehouse but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised. They managed to make the concrete walls and flooring feel warm and the little ladies working there are all very helpful. I love cooking and baking so I was really happy to be able to get as many spices and rubs as I could from there. It's almost a one stop shop for everything. I was looking for ruhm/butter extract and they didn't have it so I gave them a 4 for that because they don't actually carry everything. I also got a pack of their own hot chocolate mix and it didn't quite taste right to me.
