Portland’s Most Iconic Cocktails | Eater Portland

"Another of Morgenthaler’s creations, The Grasshopper was one of many attempts to take the discarded drinks of the 1960s and ‘70s and update them with modern cocktail sensibilities. Served in the stylish, subterranean speakeasy that is Pépé le Moko, the vivid green cocktail is presented in a tall soda-fountain glass, and is a sweet, boozy, creamy concoction of crème de menthe, crème de cacao, vanilla ice cream, Fernet Branca, and sea salt. It’s best served as an after dinner dessert, but no one will be judged for drinking it right when the bar opens at 4 p.m. daily." - Alex Frane

Portland Restaurants and Bars to Visit During Feast 2018 | Eater Portland

"Beware: You will lose all track of time in this cozy cocktail den below Clyde Common. It’s the brainchild of celebrity bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler, who has created a place where ‘70s fern-bar icons like the easy-drinking Long Island Iced Tea and the thick, dessert-worthy Grasshopper take top billing next to classic cocktails like the Manhattan. If you’re looking for a place to camp out after the grand tastings, Pepe Le Moko is open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Close to: Pioneer Courthouse Square" - Mattie John Bamman

Very cool place! Loved their food and their drinks. When you come in there's a tiny little area where you give your name to get a table and then wait outside until they text you to tell you that they have a table for you. Since the front of the restaurant is so tiny, is easy to miss, but they are next to the Cleaners. The restaurant is underground and cool looking. They don't have a ton of options for food but what they have available is really good!

A fun bar experience. The service is great, they will meet you at the top of the stairs and you can wait for a table. We got cocktails and a charcuterie board. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is great, dim lighting, great for date night.

First off, I love the location and how intimate this place is. I highly recommend the oysters as they are fresh and delicious. Despite a long wait for the drinks, which is understandable considering it was peak hours on a Friday night, the cocktails were perfect and the prices reasonable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The host was very friendly and recommended some places around town to check out.

Moody little basement bar that looks like a comfortable bunker. Drinks are solid, food choices are limited (no desserts????), but the cheese and charcuterie board was 👌👌👌 Great spot for a date.

This is a cool spot. I wouldn’t come with more than 1 or 2 others because it is small! The staff is very nice and it doesn’t have the pretentious vibe that some trendy cocktail places have. I highly recommend checking it out. Drinks are pricey but atmosphere makes up for it.

Pepe le Moko is a very chill, speakeasy, type lounge that after checking this place out alone, it definitely seems best for couples, first dates, group hangouts, etc. I was there visiting solo from Wilmington NC, so I chatted with two bartenders that were pretty friendly and offered good suggestions for checking out DT Portland. I had two drinks (the grasshopper and a lemon sour amaretto) which were made well, and did not disappoint. I also ordered the deviled eggs, which were just okay to me, but I bought them mainly because the cute blond waitress suggested them. The price did not bother me at all, it's a cocktail bar. I'm giving it five stars because I would've went back if time allowed.

Excellent cocktails and delicious snacks. The Toronto cocktail was perfectly executed with the perfect aromatic accent from the orange to complement the fernets

Perfect drinks and delicious oysters. We went there on a Wednesday night and there was no wait! I usually get Negronis there but since it was date night, we shared a Grasshopper there after dinner. Lovely little fancy bunker.
