The 13 Best Restaurants For Chisme Lovers

"The best time to listen to chisme is a few hours after it has happened, when details are fresh and emotions are running high. That's why Pepito’s is perfect for late night chisme. The crowd arrives right after partying at all the spots around Mary Brickell Village, so you will hear a lot of stories about whose ex was doing what, where, and with whom. Service is slow, but that’s understandable given all the drunk people ordering more food than anyone can handle. The trick here is to arrive around midnight, order your food, and sit at one of the tables in the middle next to the wall, where you can enjoy chisme in surround sound." - julia malave, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Pepito’s Plaza Doral Review - Doral - Miami - The Infatuation

"2002 brought us the Nokia 3510—a cell phone so indestructible, you could drop it from your roof. That same year, Miami was introduced to Pepitos Plaza. Back then, it was just a Venezuelan hot dog stand in Doral next to a gas station where you could order hot dogs and pepitos—both drenched in their glorious six sauce combo: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, pink sauce, garlic sauce, and tartar sauce. It’s the kind of stuff you crave if you’re sloshed or recovering from said sloshing—which is perfect because Pepitos is open late. They even expanded to Brickell and moved to a permanent location within the same gas station, where we hope they remain for even longer than the Nokia." - Virginia Otazo

Pepitos is an excellent option for a heartwarming Venezuelan meal! Whether you’re craving a home-style meal or a late-night snack, this place won’t disappoint. “Pepitos” is the Venezuelan term for a steak sandwich, but you can also choose from a wide variety of burgers, BBQ, arepas, cachapas, tequeños, and an extensive selection of sauces.

We’re here a day before a cruise leaving from the Port of Miami. We decided to give this place a try for dinner since it was so right around the corner from our hotel. We ordered arepas stuffed with meat and Gouda cheese, topped off with sauces from the bar. Our food was fresh and delicious and the portions were huge. We liked it so much we decided to go back for breakfast. Give this place a shot if you’re in Brickell!

Google
I have been eating there for about a year at least once a week. Food is good and service is outstanding. Place is kind of weird and pricing kind of high for what they offer.

I tried the Doral location before so no brainer to stop by for a quick lunch break here. Dine in. Was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Good food. Great portion. Service was amazing. And the atmosphere was chill. Surprisingly in Brickell, there wasn't any traffic inside. Perfect timing I guess. Highly recommend

Google
After a concert everything was close and this restaurant saved my life, which I can tell you it's convenience! Arepa pelua (beef and cheese) had a great taste, but the arepa was too raw. The pepito with chicken was good, but I recommend better the mix one. Cachapa wasn't good at all. It didn't tasty like a real cachapa; too rubbery and a weird orange color; probably some colorants. Passion fruit juice delicious. Service was great and friendly.

Delicious food, great service and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Google
I don't know what happened to this place, it was the best for a hamburger, now they only serve McDonald's style meat, it's shameful. I don't know if I'm coming back in the near future what a waste!

Google
if you're looking for an authentic, hearty, and flavor-packed Venezuelan comfort food experience, Pepito's Plaza is generally a highly recommended spot, especially for their iconic pepitos and the famous six-sauce treatment!

Yelp
This place is demasiado brutal, vale! Pepito's Plaza Brickell is pure Venezuelan soul wrapped in an arepa. The La Pelúa is the real MVP, packed hasta el tope with juicy carne mechada and melted yellow gouda that hits en el alma. It's not just tasty, it's arrechísima. You bite into that and boom, you're back on the streets of Caracas, eating sabroso and forgetting you're even in Brickell. And the papitas fritas? Una vaina seria. Super crispy, golden, and totally addictive. You'll say you're just gonna try a few... mentira. You'll crush the whole thing before you're halfway through your arepa. Can't miss the toppings like alioli, garlic, guasacaca, spicy, or the Venezuelan punch, tartar sauce. Now let's talk billete: the price is a ganga. For what you get, massive portions, flavor for days, and that homemade feel, it's honestly a steal. In this part of Miami? That's a miracle with guasacaca on top. Plus, the crew? Unos cracks. Full-on Venezuelan warmth, quick service, good vibes, and they treat you like you've been coming there since chamito. Yasimar (pelo largo negro chick, Elizabeth, Lizbeth, Juan, and Efrain, gracias por contagiar real pana energy all around. In short: La Pelúa + crispy fries + price that doesn't hurt + puro sabor criollo + a killer team = 20/10. Go, eat, and leave saying: "¡Coño, qué brutal está esto!"

Yelp
We came here later on a Saturday night as we'd heard the burgers were good. While this eatery currently has an average rating of 3.5 stars on Yelp, it just wasn't for me and I'd give it 2.5 stars for our visit, though I'll round up to 3. They had 5 outdoor tables set up, each seating 4 people. One was occupied by loud, obnoxious drunks. The others were messy with lots of food and liquid both on the tabletops, some of the seats and scattered on the ground. Inside it feels like an open food hall rather than a welcoming restaurant, with the overhead lights at full brightness and the white ceiling and light grey industrial floor. Also, they're constantly calling someone's name over the speakers every few minutes to come and pick up their food. The restroom was out of order during the time we were here as the staff said it was "wet" inside - whatever that meant. Ordering was relatively fast and easy, and our food only took a few minutes to be ready. I had the steak pepito with fries. During I believe the second bite, the bottom of the bun opened up completely and most of the contents of the sandwich dumped out into the paper-lined basket so I ended up eating most of this this "sandwich" out of the basket with a fork. The fries were decent but it'd be difficult to screw those up. Prices here are higher than they deserve to be, with my sandwich costing $19 and the fries another $6. Had this been a sit down and be served restaurant with a nicer atmosphere, then maybe it'd be worth it - but for a place where I give my order, pick up my own food when it's ready, dispense my own sauces, gather my own cutlery and then return my tray and baskets when I'm done, then no. To boot, the wire baskets they serve food in were merely stacked on top of each other and spritzed by one of the staff using a spray bottle, then re-used. I saw them do this twice and saw no effort to clean the crusted and caked on food from the baskets before filling them up with the next customer's order. Gross.

Yelp
This was fun quick meal while walking around Brickell at night. I had tagged this place ahead of our travels, after seeing Anthony Bourdain eat here (granted it was a different location -- inside of a gas station in a Doralzuela). The food is Venezuelan but is really Venezuelan comfort food you'd crave after a night at the bar(s) -- of which there are many nearby. Prices were higher than expected but the quality was there. My "special bbq mixta" (grilled steak and chicken) were delicious, approaching the same level of awesomeness as Pinolandia's carne asada. My wife loved her veggie dog covered in toothpick-sized potato chips and pink sauce. My daughter devoured her tacos and my son refused to eat anything... *sigh* I might even go back before we leave to try the burger that Bourdain ate, the Doralzuela...

Yelp
Arepas were so good I came here twice! I was in Brickell for just 3 nights and had to find a Venezuelan arepa somewhere. I was so excited to find Pepito's near my hotel. The first day, I ordered the perico arepa (scrambled egg with tomato, peppers and onion) and the papalon con lemon (similar to lemonade). Both were so fresh and so good! I couldn't get my mind off arepas so I came back the next day. The owner definitely recognized us and welcome us back. I ordered 2 fried eggs with black beans and cheese, with an arepa on the side. Delicious! Also ordered an Americano. They don't have regular half and half so they gave me steamed milk. It did the trick and was great! The restaurant is quick service where you order at the counter and they call your name over the speaker. It looked and felt brand new and modern. Fill bar service is offered later in the day. The restrooom was locked and I think you needed to get a key from the counter. Very clean everywhere!

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend were walking around Miami when we stumbled upon this place we got one of their tropical drinks and some garlic cilantro fries. Everything was very clean inside the food was very good. Service is very helpful. I suggesting things we might like great times in Miami hope to come back sometime.

Yorence R.

Yelp
They will NOT serve you water from the tap even if you are a paying guest. Great food tho.
google avatar

McKay B.

Yelp
I've never written a review on Yelp but I felt the need to because of how disappointed I was in the food and presentation. Given that the majority of the entrees are $50+, I was hoping that the food would reflect the price but I could have made this at home and it would have been 10x better. I was just highly disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful though and the drinks are great.

Yelp
We came in at 2:30 AM and it only took 15 minutes to get our food which was great timing. The guy who took our order was super nice as well. The restaurant was clean and super roomy. I think the owner or maybe a manger kept checking on all the drunk people and gave them water which to me was super sweet of her to do. There way a girl throwing up at the table and she was giving her water and napkins, then she ran outside to take care of another guy who was sick. Sweet older lady was there to help so many so 5/5 stars for service. We ordered the hot dog and fries and a classic hot dog. We were excited to go to this place because it seemed super popular, but I realized it may be popular since it a "drunk night food". The food had a little bit of an odd taste to it; and the sauces were all pretty sour. They did have a ton of sauces available that you could try; and the green spicy one was really good. It isn't something I would go back to for the food, but the service was great. They do have a lot of food options available but it is pretty pricey.

Yelp
I have really fallen in love with Venezuelan food. The garlic, pink sauce and potato sticks are spot on. I always enjoy an egg on my burger so I love that most of the options come with it already. The Doralzuela is a legit burger but it can get messy because it's so many ingredients and so big...I really enjoy the special BBq mixed...it's like a pepito without the bread. I usually ask for it with extra garlic and no ketchup or mustard. The special chicken burger was really good as well. You have to try their different sauces and pick your favorite. My top two are the garlic and the guasaca. They're open late, I went once at like 5 in the morning after a night out but I usually go during my lunch break since it's in Brickell. The restaurant is clean, there are a few birds that lurk outside if you choose that option but for the most part I definitely recommend Pepitos plaza to anyone looking for a good bite to eat whether it be a lunch meal or putting something on your stomach after the club.

Yelp
Great food and service their papelon was amazing and their BBQ mixta was good 5 stars for sure and of course María the cashier and the one in charge is very professional and attentive.
google avatar

Myra D.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick bite to eat. They have a little bit of every thing to satisfy that late night craving. Easy to order, then have a seat and wait for your name to be called to pick up your food. Food tasted just right, especially being late night. You can dine indoors or sit out side and the fresh air. If you don't have your card you can pay Apple, Google, or Samsung pay. Nice and simple.
google avatar

Yelp
Pepitos only has 3.5 stars?? Haters gonna hate I guess, but they're missing out. What Brickellite hasn't satiated their drunchies at this fine establishment once or twice? And drunchies or not, who can resist filling up on delicious tequeños at some of the most reasonable prices in the neighborhood? It's a simple order at the counter kinda place with a great selection of Venezuelan arepas, cachapas, empanadas, y más. It's greasy, it's pretty cheap, it's filling, and it's goood. Their tequeños are my fave, esp when dunked in the guava sauce. (I am currently being fought on whether this should read tartar sauce instead - try them both, trust me). Plenty of places to sit inside and out. So pull up a chair and enjoy. Everything nice is getting taken out of brickell for more high rises these days - I hope Pepito's is here 5ever.

Yelp
Superb food, great vibes, and good people. Part of the weekly routine. And they're open late

Yelp
Once you realize the only proper way to eat any meal here is by dousing it in those savory sauces is the moment you elevated your dining experience. Venezuelan cuisine is built along the same structure of using several key ingredients prepared in different formats to bring some sort of improvisation to fast food. They take their cheese seriously which is an important virtue in life so I respect it. Avocado on everything so you know it's creamy. The crunchy arepa exterior with the grilled meats marinated in onion and garlic pair perfectly with all the mixings they throw into their entrees. They have a daily lunch special that varies and is super filling. Plus, it's only $10 and comes with your choice of beverage so you can't beat that in this neighborhood for a quick and easy lunch without breaking the bank. The menu has so many options that sometimes it's hard to pick what to order but I start off by choosing what cheese I want and then top it with chicken and take it from there. Usually, chicken doesn't excite me but here it's prepared so deliciously that I look forward to those daily bowls they rotate on their specials. The sauces really complete the flavor profile. The Garlic aioli mixed with their cilantro green sauce is the perfect compliment to soak all that arepa goodness into. During the last few bites, I spread some of the pineapple sauce on top for that contrast of flavor that really amplifies the whole dish. Yeah, I wish they had an option of ordering over the phone since it does take a few minutes to receive your order but I wouldn't trade the flavor for convenience. You can't beat this price in this neighborhood for the quality of food they serve in those hefty generous portions they offer.
google avatar

Jesined C.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick bite to eat this is the spot in Brickell. They have Venezuelan cuisine, from arepas to burgers, to different small bites to choose from. Everything is delicious! The service is a little slow for the amount of people that come in. You would expect to get your food faster when there's so much staff working. Although the service is slow, everyone is nice and the food is always fresh and hot when it comes out. Pictured is an arepa with just cheese, that is salty and to pair it with some savory flavor I add pieces of chicharron to it. Overall the restaurant is a laid back scene, not really fancy more casual. I would recommend for everyone to check it out!

Yelp
I was in Miami for my first time over the weekend and we were staying in Brickell, so we decided to venture a little and see what was around us and I must say this place did not disappoint.. the drinks, food, service and ambience was topnotch. I would most def go back. Thank you!!

Jailson L.

Yelp
The food is decent for what it is, and the pricing is fair. However, lately, they've been cutting back on portions. I regularly order Doral in shape mix and I've noticed a significant reduction in the amount of protein. Last time, I received only four tiny pieces of chicken and four small strips of steak.
google avatar

Farah S.

Yelp
The food is delicious. Great for late nights. I suggest ordering online to pick up because the lines are long.
google avatar

Lino V.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good Venezuelan spot in Brickell this is it. Their tequeños are some of the best I've had. Their Special Burger is loaded (comes with meat, ham, cheese, eggs, veggies, potato sticks) and fries and is a big portion.
google avatar

Ana A.

Yelp
Late night gem. Stumbled upon this place (literally).... Great late night place after a night out, on weekends it's a 24hr spot. The pollo saltado was amazing and they have a great sauce selection!

Skylar O.

Yelp
María lucia is a worker here. She was super helpful and made the experience worth everything. Great place and I'm so happy she was able to assist me. LOVE THIS PLACE LOVEEEEEE MARIA!!!
google avatar

Leda M.

Yelp
I've come here a few times and every time I think it's going to be basic fried food and each time I am pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh. I've tried the hot dogs and they're super delicious- and Their salsas taste homemade. This time I tried the grilled chicken salad with arepa with cheese and again super delicious. I know grilled chicken salad so basic lol but even that was delicious. My boyfriend had a Pepita - he rates that 10/10.
google avatar

Jean J.

Yelp
Albeit for some late (super late) dinner or a snack after going out or you're just in the area, Pepito's is always a hit. The employees are super nice, it's always clean inside, and the food (or treats) always comes out super fast. My automatic go to whenever coming is a raspadito. They're highly addicting and guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth.
google avatar

AJ B.

Yelp
I ordered a $18 dish and barely finished half when I went to get a bag to take the rest home. As soon as I turned back to head to my table, I noticed that the table had been cleared out. It hasn't even been one minute. I complained to the people behind the counter, but the main guy didn't seem to care. Typical third world behavior. Any other establishment would have looked into it and made me a fresh order. Terrible staff.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
The BEST casual food spot in Brickell. Cannot get enough of it. The food is always fresh and savory. Authentic spices accompanied by amazing sauces. Try something new every time I go, never been disappointed. Love love love Pepito's.
google avatar

Taimi P.

Yelp
Good place but the fact that they hide their prices online is a big NO. Cmon, be transparent!
google avatar

Dana F.

Yelp
In this town of overpriced and ovr rated food, Pepito's Plaza is a refreshing change of pace. Their Venezuelan based food is a gastronomic treat. I've been back several times, each time trying something new, and I've never been disappointed. The Arepas are delicious, as is the Parrilla. Take a walk, try the food and you'll then me.
google avatar

Robbie B.

Yelp
Let me just say, My office is in Mary Brickell Village upstairs, same side of street as Pepito's: they are in the back, I'm on the front (BHHS EWM Realty). I wanted something simple, you know, grab and go; I am a carnivore and Pepito's makes this salad with steak and avocado so that was my pick. I ordered "rare" and I said to myself they will never get this right. Oh how wrong I was. My meat was seared rare and, at $18, not the highest quality meet to be found but seasoned and delicious! So yesterday I wondered around read menus at 3 other places and decided to go back to Pepito's and get steak but decided I really needed to be more budget conscious and saw the lunch special (every weekday something different); $10.99, oh hell yeah, let me give this a whirl, I loved it! Grilled chicken(chopped), rice, lettuce, corn, Picola de Gallo, sliced avocado AND a can of Coca Cola! I truly enjoyed my lunch especially with that guasacaca sauce! Don't forget? What elsCannot forget that price; a filling, appetizing lunch for right around $11.40 you can't beat it!
google avatar

Tobipitu R.

Yelp
Pretty decent Venezuelan place. Closes like at 5am. A little pricey but its Brickell so can't expect cheap. I stop by almost every time I drive downtown. Wide sauce selection!
google avatar

Anneliese L.

Yelp
The people are nice ! The food is amazing, I love the crepes and the double burger and I loved the natural juice of passion fruit. It's clean, very pretty, just a beautiful restaurant to go to

Shaira S.

Yelp
I love the Morning staff Honestly the best people working in Brickell. food is another level on taste and fast service !
google avatar

Luis L.

Yelp
My experience was completely awful, I had to wait for almost 3 hours to get my food, I requested to go because was so busy, and clearly I understood because was weekend but I ordered two chicken pepitos and the really worst part is that I got CHICKEN RAW, in both pepito that's the worst experience that I had and I don't recommend this place ever
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over a year. I always get the Thursday lunch special & add black beans (on any day i come- the price is different of course if not Thursday). Their food quality and portions are ALWAYS consistent and the overall taste is amazing. Highly recommended trying out this place. This plate should definitely be something on their regular menu because it's SOO GOOD.
google avatar

Irene M.

Yelp
Always fire. You can't go wrong with La Catira arepa. Love the doral location & brickell location was great too!

Jesly C.

Yelp
I ordered a cheese empanada and they gave me a beef empanada instead. when I told them it was the wrong empanada, They told me to return the wrong empanada to give me the right one. I already chewed the empanada to see if it was the right one and they choose to throw it away instead of giving it to the customer for the waisted time. American way vs latin way. Good customer service vs bad customer service. Very disappointed .

Jesus C.

Yelp
Very unfriendly staff asked had a really bad attitude as if they didn't want to be working or they didn't want to serve me, WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK OR DONT RECOMMEND

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Horrible customer service and they dont charge the "prices" on their menu they will say $3 for a hotdog then charge you $6 for one. waste of space of a place
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
Been coming here for a while now. Unfortunately you can tell this was it's not well managed. Always looks messy, understaffed and low quality of food. I ordered a chamo fit and this was terrible. Old and cold yucca and the chicken didn't look appetizing at all. I then complaint to the guy who was handing the pick up orders. He didn't like the fact I wanted to exchange it for something else. Luckily the cook (hard work and only person in the kitchen) was very polite and professional offered to replace it. I then, asked to get a chicken sandwich with no sauce. The chicken sandwich was terrible and fries had been cooked for a while as these were saggy and cold. Chicken was not even a breast of chicken. They used chopped chicken as if it was a "pepito". Terrible food!!! I will not be coming any longer. Best if luck

Cici H.

Yelp
We were in town from Chicago and this stop was well worth it. We will definitely be back. The arepas were amazing, fulfilling, & tasty. I recommend! The ambiance is cool too. We enjoyed the seating inside.
google avatar

Harry A.

Yelp
Pepito's is the after hours spot for food when all The clubs and bars are closing. This place is literally the best thing popping in the area. And their selection of food is humongous. It's like a South American street foods/BBQ. I'd say it's more of a cross breed between Venezuelan and Colombian cuisine. They serve good portions and for the location, I do have to say it's fairly priced. Not sure if the juices are natural but the chicha there is delicious. I rate it 3 stars because I feel Like the service could use a little improvement. They can be organized with the orders and have a the sauce bar neater. The ambiance is pretty much like a place were every one is pretty tipsy and in a good mood just looking for something to bite. And if you went out that night and didn't pick up any prospects, then you might luck and pull You something nice. My over all experience... Awesome. Definitely will Continue to eat at this place!
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Food is good but it takes forever. When I came here after work they had like 7 employees, none of which had masks on Including the chef in the back. La comida es rica pero nadie tiene máscaras incluyendo el que cocina. Y se demoran en preparar la comida.
google avatar

Miriam M.

Yelp
Pepito's is a Venezuelan restaurant next to Tucandela. My coworker and I decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. They have hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled Mets and other specialties. The flavors are amazing but a little high on cholesterol. We ordered the mini tequenos which were delicious and cheesy. You must get the cachapa! It's made of sweet corn with cheese and chicken, it was delicious. Please skip the reina pepiada arepa, it's shredded chicken with avocado and cheese. It was flavorless and not appetizing.
google avatar

Lucia P.

Yelp
Pepitos is much better if you're dining in, but the quality and accuracy of the order seems to diminish if you get it to go, or via a delivery app. I love their veggie hot dogs, tequenos, fries, juices, and sauces. But, I have in more than one occasion received a wrong order to go or delivery and the quality is not as good when to go/delivery. Dining at restaurant would be key to ensure a better experience

Alex G.

Yelp
Modern "fast food served slowly" Latin with a a Venezuelan and Colombian flair. Loud music playing (almost uncomfortable) overhead, TV's and video menus lining the walls. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. This is a place where you can find all three daily meals available. While I prefer to eat in a quieter environment (this is a restaurant, not a dance club), the food was very tasty and the Latin style coffee on point.

Yelp
There is only one word that can properly describe this place and that is awful! I do not remember the last time I was this disappointed with a restaurant on two separate occasions. I first ordered a cachapa for delivery which was not edible, it was burnt and tasted as if it was a week old and a pepito that looked like it had been shaken in the delivery box as the lettuce and chicken and steak were all over the place. The pepito tasted gross and neither dish ordered was consumed. A week later I walk into the restaurant after going out with some friends and ordered the exact same thing as the delivery order. This rude guy named Gio who then made excuses for the awful food and tried to shoo me away when I complained took our order. My girlfriend could not even eat the cachapa because it was so gross and burnt and my pepito was barely edible because the prepared it with old lettuce and tomatoes. It's a real shame this place is so terrible because the location they have in el doral has always been a solid choice. I will never be coming back to place only to the spot in el doral.

Yelp
Amazing chicken dog. I've always went to the Doral location since it was just a hole in the wall. Skeptical at first about trying this new location due to the reviews and turns out it's as good as I remember if not better. Big portion, freshly made, and delicious. They came with onion topping and 7 sauces. If you don't want any of the sauces make sure to let them know when you order. Can't want to come back again to try arepas and avocado + steak.
