7 Cold Drinks That Are Better Than A Basic Iced Latte

"Iced Spanish Latte  What this Covent Garden coffee spot lacks in seats, it makes up for in style. Kyoto import % Arabica serves excellent espresso-based drinks and while there’s usually a queue that snakes all the way outside—especially on a sunny day—the iced Spanish latte is well worth the wait. Condensed milk sweetens the rich coffee and makes for a thickened, creamy iced latte that’ll be finished within five minutes." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

%Arabica Opens London Coffee Shops in Covent Garden and Broadway Market | Eater London

"Located at 5 King Street in Covent Garden, this new outpost pairs a bright, white interior and exterior that makes the brown of its cups and coffee and the black logo pop — an aesthetic clearly primed for Instagram — with carefully made drinks. Early-service offerings include a sweet espresso and a silky flat white that uses a slightly more developed, darker roast than many London speciality cafés to good effect. The café bustles, running two machines to cope with high volume, and uses custom-made Slayer espresso machines from Seattle — equipment that gives baristas highly adjustable controls to 'craft' drinks but can sacrifice speed and reliability at peak times. The brand also sells striking lifestyle merchandise (water bottles, tote bags, backpacks and even sneakers); while Covent Garden's captive tourist audience should help initially, the question is whether the coffee will become part of Londoners' daily routines." - James Hansen

Arabica Covent Garden is genuinely night and day compared to BLK Cab. This is exactly what a Spanish latte should taste like, smooth, well balanced, and properly coffee forward without being overly sweet. The shop itself is small but really well designed. The space is used smartly, so even when it’s busy the queue moves easily and it never feels chaotic. Service is efficient, you’re not waiting long, and it’s a nice touch that they offer a loyalty programme too. The staff are also really friendly and welcoming, which makes a big difference, especially during busy periods. Everything feels calm, organised, and well run. Another big plus is the pricing. The coffee is very affordable compared to many other places in London, especially considering the quality you’re getting. Easily my favourite coffee place in London, and one I keep coming back to.

Google
Stopped by Arabica in Covent Garden and, as usual, the coffee was amazing. They’re consistently spot-on with the flavour and quality — honestly one of the best coffees you’ll get in the area. The café has a nice vibe too, and it’s always a reliable place for a quick stop or to sit and unwind for a bit. Highly recommend if you’re in Covent Garden and want proper coffee.

Google
The coffee here is really good. It’s strong and full of aroma but the lines are very long and it’s rather on the expensive side. I don’t understand why they can’t have a menu near the entrance so customers can select their coffee instead of having a tiny A5 size menu at the till.

Google
we ordered iced latte and iced honey latte, the latte is really good but the honey latte isn’t. It has weird taste and extremely sweet. In the shop there are only 8-10 seats from what I remember, which is obviously not enough for a shop located near Covent Garden. When we go, there were only one seat left, so one of us had to stand.

Google
Delicious coffees and friendly staff. The interior is small and can feel chaotic at busy times. Smaller, better-matched cups for short drinks would improve the experience.

Google
I visited % Arabica and it was such a great experience. The Honey Latte was incredible perfectly balanced, smooth, and naturally sweet without being too much. It’s honestly one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time. The flavor is rich, warm and unique, and it really stands out compared to other coffee shops. Definitely a must-try! I’ll for sure be coming back just for that honey coffee alone.

Google
Alright, so last week I nipped into % ARABICA in Covent Garden, and honestly, it's more than just a coffee shop, you know? First thing that hits you is the look of the place - super clean, all white, with these sharp angles and that massive % symbol staring you down. It's like stepping into some kind of space-age coffee bar. Now, the coffee? Yeah, it's pretty decent. I went for their Spanish Latte 'cause I was feeling a bit fancy, and it was spot on. Proper rich, nice and creamy, with a touch of sweet - just what I needed after fighting my way through the Covent Garden crowds. But let's be honest, you're also paying for where you are and the whole vibe of the place. It's not your average café on the corner, that's for sure. And talking of where it is, it's right in the thick of it. Perfect for grabbing a coffee and then just wandering around, soaking up the London buzz. Just a heads up though, it gets rammed. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was like trying to get through a packed tube carriage just to order. The staff were doing their best to keep up, fair play to them. They were sound and got the orders out quick, even though they were clearly rushed off their feet. Didn't have much time for a chat, but hey, can't fault them for that. Basically, % ARABICA is one of those places that's worth a visit just for the look of it. It's a cool place to grab a coffee, get some pics for the 'gram, and feel like you're part of the London scene. Just be ready to queue and spend a bit extra for the experience. But hey, sometimes you gotta treat yourself, don't you?

Google
Best coffee I’ve had in London; single origin was worth the upcharge. And how nice to have been to their location in Kyoto and now here in London.

Yelp
Shopping in Covent Garden, coffee was on my travel buddy's mind. A quick search on the map led us to % Arabica. They operate as a chain around the world. This particular cafe is minimalistic, neutral, and chic. Upon entering you queue (line up) at the back of the shop. It can be confusing as most folks standing by the entrance are just waiting for their drinks. Ordering is simple and easy and you wait for your number to be called. The barista who helped us was friendly and kind. Drink and pastry were ordered--Americano and Almond Cashew Croissant. The drink was reported to be strong and the croissant was flaky and a huge portion. It wasn't warmed up or anything special. Your taste buds will be satisfied. For those looking for a quick caffeine boost, % Arabica is a good option in Covent Garden off King Street. Fast service and decent options for drinks and fun pastries.

Yelp
genuinely one of the best iced coffees ive ever had in my life! the roast was nutty and complex, and was sweetened to perfection. the location itself is so great, right in the middle of a shopping street in covent garden. wonderful staff and very cute and modern interior. i wish i could come again and again to try the different coffee blends!

Yelp
I used to feel the hype over this minimalist coffee shop was a bit exaggerated. I mean, these guys don't even have chairs on some days. Don't ask me why, but a whole year later, it's starting to grow on me. They attract coffee-lovers from all around the globe- and I hear they have one in every major city in the world- but it has a rather Asian feel to it, with a heavy influence of things like matcha and Kyoto lattes. The Kyoto latte is really the one that keeps me coming back, and it's basically a slightly-less-sweet version of a Spanish latte (coffee and condensed milk). They also offer other sweet signatures, which sets them apart from most coffee shops out here that mainly focus on the basics. The pastry game is also pretty on-point, and on any given day, you'll find your typical croissants that come in a few different varieties, as well as some unexpected sweets like the canelés, which are these small eggy tarts that look like tiny bundt cakes. The one thing you won't find here is a comfortable place to sit; but given how busy they get during the day, that's probably a wise choice on their part. They do, however, have an entire wall covered in mirrors. So, it's a great place to check yourself out/ fix your hair while you wait to order your coffee.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Arabica (%), the Japanese brand, for a long time and made the journey to Covent Garden specifically. You're greeted with a very modular / concept looking shop which is attractive, clean and typically Japanese (no surprises there!) There is a small queuing system where they allow you to browse some of their (overpriced) merchandise whilst you wait. The staff were incredibly friendly and you have a smallish menu to view and make your order. Friends have recommended the matcha drinks however I am more of a coffee person so went with a Latte. It was a little pricey for a normal latte at ~£4.25 (even vs independent 3rd wave coffee shops). Once ordered you get a nice little receipt with your order number so you can be called later. The coffee did take quite a long time to come (perhaps the queue) although seemed long considering they have 4/5 staff. Coffee finally arrived and was worth the wait, great flavours and milk texture was perfect. Couple of things they should look to do is change the queuing system because from the outside the queue can look incredibly long but really it's just people waiting and there is no queue to order as the queue starts at the back of the shop. They also only seem to put 10 or so items down at a time (e.g. lids / napkins / straws etc) so once they run out you have to ask and they then add more which seems a bit tiring for the workers but I guess it is all part of the minimalist / concept effect. Definitely recommend the coffee and look forward to trying some of the other types of coffee on the menu next time!

Yelp
It's not every day I'm in London but if it's not time for high tea at Windsor castle I'm coming to this joint for a pick me up. I enjoyed most of the desserts I tried and the coffee was actually pretty good. I have high standards so had to get my beans to go to try in my machine at home as well as a backup plan. I was sad when I ran out of coffee beans and probably will look to see if I can order a bag or two online from time to time. Or I can just fly to London and give it a "shot". This place was not hard to get to but it felt like the typical cobble stone streets that you have to wind up and down until you see the percent sign. I'll definitely be giving this place another try and definitely recommend all their drinks although I only tried two.

Yelp
A great place to stop off and relax, chat with the friendly staff and enjoy a good coffee. I like the atmosphere of the place an there is always plenty to read and do.

Yelp
Came back twice as this was worth the crowds, lines, walking. Each order is made with care, with espresso that is so smooth and rich. Tried the single origin as an espresso- full mouth feel, although slightly fruity, came across mostly as sweet. Had the blend for my flat white. Both drinks, both times were beautiful experiences.

Yelp
I love that this cafe is open until 11pm! It is so difficult to find coffee so late, and to get coffee this good at this time is a blessing. My husband and I both ordered the famous Spanish latte - his hot and mine iced. After trying both, he agreed that going iced was the right choice; we tend to like our coffees on the sweeter side so maybe that's why. I'm only taking off a star because the carrot cake cupcake/muffin I got was very dry and overly sweet. I did not enjoy it. If you're a tourist without an umbrella, this is a good place to stop in and get one that will serve its purpose in London and be a little souvenir to take home to remember the coffee!

Yelp
The Kyoto and Spanish lattes are 2 of the best cups of coffee we've had in London so far. Good efficient process even though there's a good sized line consistently.

Yelp
Amazing Kyoto Latte. I'm suprised to find this is London and would love to see it in California ASAP!

Yelp
really delicious coffee! small space so not a lot of seating but located in a nice plaza for easy access and some outdoor seating

Joseph P.

Yelp
Kyoto latte was top-notch, with a perfect foam. I'll return to try other flavored lattes. Hope the line moves quicker next time.

Yelp
Not really worth the hype. Iced matcha latte was pricey and not that good. Perhaps the coffee is better.

Yelp
Get their Spanish latte. It is from a different world. I make sure that i get their coffee for the rest of my vacation time

Lenni R.

Yelp
Okay major fan! I hope they keep expanding. I really didn't know what to expect but the Kyoto Latte is a total favorite. I can't wait to try this again some day!!

Yelp
Ordered the iced Spanish latte. Pretty yummy! Just the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee. They use condensed milk rather than sugar/ syrup. Turning into a regular customer the amount of times I order this in Covent Garden too

Yelp
Quick, easy, nice aesthetics and nicely priced...especially coming from the USA. Get the chocolate beans and the latte with almond milk was sweet enough, but not too crazy sweet for an afternoon pick me up!
