Chinese-owned, pan-Asian bar and restaurant reviewed by the Lincoln Journal Star. Handmade crab rangoon, Taiwanese pan-fried noodles, and even a karaoke room make it a fun, group-friendly stop with plenty of Chinese choices.

Google
MUST TRY- Absolutely delightful, we ordered the shrimp dumplings for our appetizer, however we were told there was a 15 minute wait so it was not surprising we got it after our main dish. It was very tasty and worth the wait. For our main dish, we went with the regular hot pot broth, Chinese cabbage, dried mushrooms, fish tofu, squid and egg noodles. The broth took about 10 minutes to come out and it was very flavorful with all our other toppings. They also brought out a cart with different sauces, and utensils. The peanut sauce was remarkably iconic. It went well with everything but the squid. The waiters were all extremely friendly, helpful and polite. 20/10 this is a Lincoln must try.

Google
We actually came here to have our first ever seafood boil! The food was all amazing came out of the kitchen at lightening speed!! The pictures speak for themselves. The thing I appreciate the most over everything else was the amazing service from our waitress. She was so incredibly nice & came to check on us several times throughout our meal.

Google
My new favorite restaurant in the city of Lincoln, great food, I had a Hotpot with seafood and meat, loved it. My wife commented "This place is legit" she really enjoyed it as well. Been back twice, planning on coming back in a few days. Definitely a recommend.

Google
We stopped by for dinner during our road trip and wanted good asian food (after having some bad ones in CO). There were many options in the area but decided on this one and I'm glad we did! Ordered sesame chicken, sesame tofu, crab rangoon, and vegetable fried rice. I especially liked the chicken and tofu. Crispy and flavorful sauce. Overall, very good. Saw many others having seafood or hotpot. Nice and spacious. Service was good and attentive.

Google
We ordered takeout through their website; it only took about 20 minutes for it to be ready to pickup. They have a super broad selection of food! We got cashew chicken, chicken lo mein, and beef fried rice. The only downside was that the beef was oddly chewy. Other than that the food was great!

Google
The garlic shrimp with fried rice was excellent. Also, the steamed dumplings with pork were a hit! The pad Thai wasn't what we hoped it would be, but we brought it to the kids and they devoured it. Not a bad place at all!

Google
Great service, (Thanks Kai) great food, served very quickly. The only complaint was I would have liked my food steaming hot. It was kind of lukewarm but I definitely would recommend this place.

Yelp
Perfect diner is definitely one of my go to spots in Lincoln! I usually get theur hotpot or seafood boil, but today, i decided to get their Chinese food and it did not miss! Their crab rangoons are one of the best in Lincoln bc they use a thinner wrapper than most places. The general tso's chicken and super flavorful! The mapo tofu was salty, spicy, umami and paired perfectly with rice! Their soup was also super yummy! The service was quick and food came out prettt fast too even tho they were pretty busy!

Yelp
This place is great. It's nicer in the dinning room than you might think based on the outside appearance and location of the building. My wife and I were greeted immediately and the service throughout our experience was very pleasant and welcoming. We set out to Perfect Diner with the goal of trying hot pot for the first time. We had done some online research and thought hot pot looked like something we would love, this presumption would turn out to be very accurate. I informed our server we had never had hot pot before, she was very helpful and informative. We chose the two broth option, spicy and pork bone. For our veggies we picked Chinese cabbage and potatoes. Meat options selected were beef, pork and sausage. We also tried the fish balls (which were perhaps my favorite flavor of the meal) All rounded out with egg (lo mein) noodles. We also had an appetizer of shrimp dumplings, they were soft and doughy but still had a good bite of real shrimp tail texture inside. We loved them. The spicy broth definitely spicy, I will ask them to tone it down for us next time. The flavor was dope; however, I couldn't take the burn for more than a few bites. They also parked a cart full of bowls, plates, sauces and utensils next to our booth so we could basically enjoy unlimited flavor options. There was easily enough food for three or four people. This was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
the costumer service was subpar... we showed up, then we violently ate the food because it was that good. they laughed at how animalistic we were for the seafood boil, we were ravenous for the food. the moment the smell hit our noses we were animals. like dogs we tore apart this seafood boil & our table was a victim. it was so messy but so delicious. we looked upon our table in horror upon realizing the mess we made because we were so enthralled with masterpiece of the meal. we spent $200 that night but i would happily spend even more then that to come back for the first time again & experience this. the crab ragoons were also good.

Yelp
The hot pot is so delicious and worth every penny. Perfect date night or meal to split. Everything I've had here is delicious and the staff is so sweet

Yelp
My acupuncture Dr says this is excellent foods experience so here we are for testing. I have asked for a small portion hot pot, special build of spicy, shrimp, tofu, spinach, and a steamed pork dumpling. Hot tea for drink. Hot sour soup is real good. B approves. Is actually hers. Dumplings are best I've had. They are pork. My small portion hot pot...would easily feed 4 people! Amazing good. Absolutely 'The Best' Asian food ever that I have experienced. Blown away I am.

Yelp
Be hung up on the phone :) no service to talk with :) Just want to know if they have hotpot but they let me stayed on the phone for minutes without any answer at all :) love it :) Everyone just said: "hold on let me ask", "let me ask the boss" and turns out, I got hung up:) love it:)

Quenita G.

Yelp
Amazing staff. Knows my family and our orders by heart now lol. Only place I'll eat Chinese food at.

Yelp
What I like about this place is its consistency. I know I'm getting a solid Asian meal every time. I go for quick takeout when the craving hits, I take a kid for a special outing and we do a sit down meal while we're out. Regardless of the situation, the food is always consistently good, serving size is right, service is pleasant.

Yelp
Delicious. A little expensive but not too bad. The ambiance left a little to be desired. Not dirty just kinda blah. The hot pot I had was tasty.

Yelp
One of our favorites, and one of our few regular stops. They know us well at this point and always automatically bring the little "extras" that we like. Very friendly servers. I can't speak on their "regular" Chinese entrees (though plenty of people are always eating them) as we always order from the Szechuan items which, as far as I know, are very authentic. Ma po tofu, chicken chili pot, haka eggplant, hot and sour soup are our go to-s, but everything else we've had has been great as well. We have yet to try a hot pot, which only speaks to how much we love our regular picks. Our 8 year old is (surprise!) a bit picky, and they even make her a custom dish based off of their moo goo Gai pan, which she loves. As far as the ambiance, it's nothing special, but nice enough. It's always clean, music is not too loud. My only negative: I can't stop eating when I damn well should. Recommend without reservation, especially if you're into some spicy Szechuan!

Mail P.

Yelp
This is one of our "to-go" places. We feel at home & welcome here. Not to mention great food and service! Try the crab rangoons, we have them with red chili sauce if you like spicy. Great lunch specials & boils! We want to try the hot pot sometime, everyone that has it seems to enjoy it while having a nice time. I think it is clean & calm with music in the background. This will always be one of our favorites.

Yelp
One thing I've learned since moving to Lincoln is that the food here is very subpar. If people left nebraska and had real food, they'd probably fall out. I dont see how this place has good reviews. I got 2 different types of pad Thai, and they tasted like a child made them. They had more onion than anything. How does pad Thai have no flavor? How do you mess up a staple dish like pad thai? The crab Rangoon was soggy. The egg rolls were bland. And we didn't even get everything we ordered. This place really sucks. Will deter anyone I talk to about places to eat to avoid this place at all costs. They are very far from good, much less perfect. Time for a name change.

Yelp
I was craving hot pot and a few friends recommended this place so we made the drive from Omaha to check it out. The menu had an all-you-can-eat hot pot option for $29.95/person but they discontinued it. No biggie, we ordered the stuff separately. Each item had different prices depending on category i.e. meat, veggie, seafood. We got the two flavor broth and some sides. The red broth was really spicy so I mixed it with the regular broth in my bowl and it was sooooo good. Both pack so much flavor. My favorite sides were the beef, the crab, and the fish balls while my husband really liked the sausage and beef. The noodles paired with it nicely. Staff were warm and friendly and came to check if we'd like to order more sides but this was enough to fill us up.

Yelp
We chanced upon this interestingly named pan Asian diner on our road trip. The menu is eclectic and extensive with mostly Chinese, a few Thai and a couple Japanese items. Portions were generous and food was tasty (Sichuan preparations). Service was prompt for our takeout order and the dining room ambience was simple and spartan. Parking is out back and the area is a bit out of the way but worth the trek.

Yelp
They really make a great hot and sour soup. Still impressed with the flavors and the amount of food you get on a lunch menu. Can't beat it for around $10. Server was pleasant, friendly and quick. Atmosphere quiet and inviting. Really dig this place for a tasty Asian lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great authentic Chinese restaurant! Definitely not the Americanized Chinese food your used to! Everything was spot on and delicious. The soups had a subtle flavor that just got better the longer they cooked. The staff was very attentive and was great about clarifying things and asserting our "silly" questions. The best part was the price. We got 3 entrees and an appetizer for under $50 with TONS of left over for lunch tomorrow (and dinner I think)! Come here and try everything that's new to you! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Good place to eat but the menu is boring,if you eat there very often you will run out of options, needs more choices added, to basic of a menu for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place always great service fast and friendly. They have a massive menu from a large selection of Chinese dishes, hot pots, sushi, fresh seafood boils the list goes on. Everything is always cooked fresh. I am very picky with seafood and have to tell you the seafood is very fresh, no mush no fishy smell. Great lunch specials with very large portions. Plenty of private parking, very large restaurant with very cool modern asian decor. Lunch dinner or take out when you have a craving for asian cuisine this place hits the spot every time!

Patsy M.

Yelp
The Moo Goo Gai Pan was delicious and plenty of it. Comes with soup and egg rolls or crab Rangoon. The service is outstanding. Perfect Diner was clean and tables nicely spaced apart.

Yelp
I had lunch here with some local Lincoln friends who had recently discovered this place and it really has everything you could want and more! It is this random little building that normally I would have driven right past, in fact, when I pulled into the parking lot I was still a little uncertain of if I was in the right place. Outside it's not much to look at, but once you get inside they have fun lights and bright decorations and a nice clean restaurant. We were seated right away and had a very nice server who checked on the status of gluten free items on the menu. They do have gf soy sauce and I was in the mood for sushi so I went with my favorite avocado and philadelphia rolls. My friend and her children ordered a variety of Chinese dishes and I have to say the crab rangoons looked amazing and disappeared pretty quickly with the kids licking their fingers. My rolls were fresh and delicious and beautifully presented. Food came out quickly and the portions for the Chinese food were great. I was really impressed by what an extensive selection of menu items there were and how many options it had for someone who likes sushi but also for kids who go "ewwww that's gross" and prefer regular Chinese dishes. Price was also very reasonable. Overall, solid place.

Yelp
I ordered sesame chicken and this is what I got. Absolutely no sauce. The lo mein also tasted like dirt and the veggies in it were very sad. Do not recommend

Yelp
Our family were in Lincoln for a few days and there weren't many good Asian restaurants in the area or we had any high expectations for a small city, but Perfect Diner was really Great that we have to come back for the 2nd time the very next day for dinner! Their Hot Pot, Crawfish, and traditional Chinese foods are all good! The price is very cheap and reasonable and large portions too! The taste is just right for our family! Definitely recommended!

Kylee V.

Yelp
The only part of our experience that went well was getting sat and getting our drinks. When we ordered we ordered an appetizer and then our main dishes. Appetizer never came out (when we got the receipt we saw she never put it in. Could it have been due to the earbud she was wearing? Who knows.). My friends dish came out and about 10-15 minutes before mine did which was odd. We weren't checked on at all until the check was brought. They gave me the entirely wrong dish. I ordered pad Thai and they gave me ho fun. It looked like someone in the kitchen messed up the order and instead of fixing it they just doubled down on it and threw a lemon and some peanuts on it and called it good. Was very disappointed because I had been looking forward to trying this place for so long and it felt like they didn't care about us since we were a smaller table.

Yelp
Been looking for a good place for hot pot and this is it! The broth was flavorful, meat was tasty, sauce options were good, and overall great meal. I got beef, lamb, crab sticks, instant noodles, potatoes, silk tofu, and Chinese greens. I gave it 4/5 stars because the service could've been better, but still, the food was really good!
google avatar

Mitch M.

Yelp
Did take out from here while passing through Lincoln on vacation. I ordered Mongolian Beef and my husband ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken. We shared an order of Shrimp Fried Rice. I was not told that each order included steamed rice. The portions were LARGE! I was able to eat 1/2 of my entree and 1/4 of the fried rice. My husband ate 2/3 of his. Food was ok but nothing special. Phone service was satisfactory but they should have told me that prices were higher and if we wanted the steamed rice which we did not!

Yelp
Perfect Diner is one of the real Lincoln hidden gems. The name is misleading, the location is uninviting and out of the way, but this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. They have a huge, huge menu with options to suit anyone, including sushi and a long cocktail list! All of the food I've tried here has been intensely delicious and flavorful but my favorites are all on the more traditional Chinese menu, toward the back. Don't skip the scallion pancakes! They have quite a few hot pot choices that are not listed explicitly as hot pot, they have some dishes with organ meats that don't appeal to some western diners, and I tell you, my friends: try every last one. This is some of the best dining in any cuisine you can find here in Lincoln. I'm giving them 5 whole stars and nothing less. The food earns even more than five even if some other aspects are subpar- tacky decor, taped up seats, sometimes even boldly rude staff- because it's just some of the best food I've ever eaten, period. And the price is right, too! Even if you order a few dishes to sample, it's not going to break the bank. The portions are huge and it's all prepared so wonderfully, I beg all adventurous eaters to take a chance on their unfamiliar dishes.

Jason G.

Yelp
Staying at La Quinta for a pool tournament from put of town. We were tired and hungry and got this from door dash. I don't know if it was because we were so hungry or tired, but this was the best Chinese I ever had. The sweet n sour chicken was crispy and fantastic. There was plenty and we put the general tso's in the fridge, and it was still hot by the time we were full of the rest. Just warmed that up the next day and it was still great. Can't recommend them enough.
google avatar

Gina K.

Yelp
Ordered a group order over the phone at 11:45am. She didn't ask me if wanted lunch or dinner portion. When she gave me the total for everything, I said thank you and hung up. We quickly realized she charged us for dinner portion and called right back. She was really stern and said they had already made the dinner portion, she said I didn't specifically say lunch. I said I "just. called." And said it's lunch time so I would assume she would charge me for lunch. She kept insisting she couldn't change it because it was already made. Terrible customer service. Never eating here again. Me Hui is a million times better and about three blocks away.

Yelp
I love this place. I have never sat down and ate here but I have gotten delivery and take out quite a few times. They have the best crab Rangoon around. Recently tried the shrimp shumai and it was pretty good. Also had gotten harumaki, vegetable spring roll, and it was delicious. My main items I like here are chicken with broccoli or beef with broccoli. I ventured out another time and tried the Mongolian chicken and Mongolian beef, both tasted great and were not spicy like most other restaurants list. My family has tried the orange chicken, it was too spicy for me. We always order something different and have had the sweet & sour chicken and the sesame chicken, both were great. The vegetable fried rice tastes great with or without soy sauce. The vegetable and chicken lo mein are both great but I like plain lo mein the best, wish there was an option for it when ordering online. We have tried so many things just to see and haven't had one bad experience. The chicken pad Thai is wonderful as well. The ho fun and chow mei fun are great too, however my favorite is the chow mei fun with chicken. Now on to their sushi... it's the best fresh sushi from a restaurant hands down. The rice is always fresh and it all tastes good. I have only had California roll, fried California roll, Philadelphia roll and tempura shrimp roll. They are the best in my opinion. I also ventured out and tried the beef noodle soup, it's like a beef pho and was pretty good. This has all been in the past year so I figured I should write a review by now.

Yelp
KACHOW! Lightning here in Lincoln, Nebraska with a review of the Perfect Diner. This place is an unexpected hit! On the outside, the building is simple (but not unfriendly), but on the inside, the decor is eye catching and the food is delicious! Each of the members of our party got something different, and everyone enjoyed their choice. From sushi to fried rice to noodles, everyone raved about their entrees. The service was also excellent. We went on a pretty empty night, but the waitress we had was personable without being too intrusive. This place provides the perfect fuel for a Piston Cup winning super car like me! If you like quality food that has choices for everyone in the family, come on down.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Good, authentic food! First of all, the menu is huge! You can get usual Chinese take out (beef w/ broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, Lo mein, etc.) or go crazy and have sushi. I got the night's special--walnut chicken w/ rice. It was messy but so tasty! Unfortunately, there were some ordering issues. Our waiter brought the wrong food due to language difficulties. Not a big deal! Ended the meal with fried ice cream. Nothing fancy, but a good ending! Man, I had to be rolled out of there because I ate so much. Definitely going to add this to my lincoln restaurant rotation!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Location: is a little off but the building is new and clean so I think it'll do well. Staff: I'm fairly certain not one if the employees smiled. Our server seemed like we were more burgers one than anything. Which is kinda strange because we were not picky or debasing at all. They could surely work on they're customer service skills. Food: the food was VERY good!! I liked everything we ordered. The portions and price were great. I will for sure bring my hubby here for him to try. He loves sushi and I just know he will really like place for the food. Hopefully the wait staff are a bit more pleasant.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
The lunch special prices for sushi are fair and they taste excellent! I got the salmon avocado & spicy yellow tail rolls. The amount of fish in them is very good sized and fresh tasting and they don't overload it with rice. Also Ordered the chicken with garlic sauce lunch special and the portion size for the price and taste is great! The egg roll is hot and crispy with some meat inside. Atmosphere is definitely a happy one because the have a mix of some upbeat Asian music, pop songs, and standard Chinese restaurant music playing over the speakers (but the music is just a little too loud), colorful lighting, nice wooden shades to block the sun, temperature inside is perfect (it's freezing and windy outside now) , and the seating is cushioned & comfortable (not seen very often these days). Customer service is friendly. Will definitely be back for the lunch special prices!

Yelp
We are not returning... We recently gave a try to this restaurant for a birthday dinner. We wanted sushi and other meal options for one of our family members who doesn't like sushi. We placed our order for drinks and food. We finished our drinks and our waitress never asked if we wanted more. We had to wait around 30 mins for our meal. We understand the sushi might take time... but the other meal could have been brought to the table. - Remember we were "dry" waiting - no beer no water no sodas! The kids were "starving" and getting a little upset about their meal not showing... especially that people that arrived after us were served and finishing their meal. One waiter noticed we were upset and try to do some damage control. He removed the beer bottles, glasses, soup and salad plates than been sitting on the table all the time we were waiting for our meal. At least he asked if we wanted more drinks and ensure the "hot" meal was brought to the table. Sushi arrived... dry and tasteless.... I only ate a few pieces... we never leave sushi on the plate because is an insult for the chef... but this time we couldn't finish eating this wannabe Sushi. You can tell the fish wasn't fresh or the other ingredients.

Yelp
so delicious. got the salted crispy chicken and chicken pad thai- pad thai was unique but suuuper flavorful, spicy and delicious (we got a medium). definitely stop by here if you're nearby!

Karthik Mahendra V.

Yelp
They have some of the best Chinese food in town. There is something for everyone! There spicy fried chicken is the best.
google avatar

Tim F.

Yelp
I don't know how this place isn't packed. Reasonable prices, good food, clean modern dining room, and an all you can eat sushi special. There should be a line out the door.
google avatar

Tung P.

Yelp
Food here was tasty. We got salt and pepper fried chicken and stir fried eggplant with a side of scallion pancakes and egg and tomato soup. They have szechuan specialties on the menu as well.
google avatar

Rick B.

Yelp
We came here because of the Yelp reviews and looking at the food thought there was Hibachi. Nope. Think of this place as a glorified fast food take out. Fried food with lots of sauce.
google avatar

Angel T.

Yelp
So, I ordered SHRIMP and SCALLOP in garlic sauce... for carry out. It was $14.95 by the way. I went home and opened it and there was only SHRIMP and NO SCALLOPS. Really? You guys could have at least told me that you guys are out of scallops. I don't want to be dramatic but that really pisses me off. Just because it's not that hard to freaking tell me that you guys are out of scallops. So be careful when ordering carry out. You should check your food before you go. They're greedy.
google avatar

Yuan P.

Yelp
This place has been open for less than a year but is definitely worth the 5-star rating! The waitress were lovely and friendly and the food quality was pretty decent compared to other Chinese food! As more and more Chinese students come to UNL, there will be more and more authentic Chinese food around town and this one is definitely among the top ones! I will come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem of a dinner, it has the best selection of items. If you tried everything on the menu, I don't think you would disappointed once. The prices are reasonable for the quality they deliver. I think the word is getting around, as it was reasonably busy when i visited. I am glad I tried it, and glad it's here in Lincoln,

Yelp
We decided to try a new place this weekend. The building is in nice, new condition. The servers were helpful, attentive and kind. The menu was expansive and had comparable prices to other places in town. I had a special roll and the Eggplant & Pork in a hot pot, which was tasty. There was a chili next to it on the menu, which I thought meant it would be spicy, but it was not spicy in any way, shape or form, which was mildly disappointing, but expected because every place has their own standard and usually they cater to the people most fearful of spiciness. I started to feel a little queasy at the end of the meal, but I thought maybe it was because I ate too fast (I was SO hungry), combined with the pop I drank. An hour later, at home, I got some nasty cramps, and I had to hustle to the toilet and I was unpleasantly ill, as I haven't been in a long, long, long time. I must say, the restaurant was appealing in a variety of ways, but I'm afraid I won't go back again. For the Chinese dishes, I'll go to Mr. Hui's. For the sushi, I'll go to Kinja or Blue or Hiro 88.
google avatar

Yelp
I went there last week and ordered a pad thai. All my friends got sushi. And they made me try it because i never have sushi before and im inlove. Their food is good. The service is wonderful. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Chuck L.

Yelp
The food was great. The language barrier was difficult. I couldn't understand the server and ended up with one of the other guests in our parties' entree. The Crab Rangoon is great. All in all pretty good. Hope they can open a store in south Lincoln and resolve the language issue. Sushi prices are really good. Standard and Hibachi items on the menu. Had to wait about 45 minutes to get a booth. New restaurants are just hard to get into. I hope this place can hold on. And that they get good reviews from the health department. It's worth the wait and once everyone has been there once the wait will not be so bad.

Yelp
Excellent food and great lunch specials with a really good price. Wonderful sushi on the lunch special as well very good.

Yelp
Went for lunch with my uncle. Was surprised by the sheer number of items on the menu. Too at least 10 minutes to read thru. Only downside, and I mean only one, was waitstaff was asking every two minutes if we were ready to order. Between the two of us we ordered Orange chicken and a Benito Box. Both came out in a timely manner and were delicious. Nice building. Cool entry way. Clean and sparkling as it is new Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

Yelp
It was actually the Perfect Diner!! ;) The Karaoke room is no place to mess around! Serious talent only!

Yelp
Loved it. Not like we needed another Chinese restaurant in town, but more like Perfect Dinner is desirable and a welcome addition. The building was built new I believe and replaced the bread store that was there. Interior is that Asian decor we expect, but this is lavish with mosaic tile and mood lighting I found to be just right and kool. We ordered General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice instead of steamed for a $1 extra, and a 8-piece Crab Rangoon. Portions were generous with us having enough for lunch the next day. My friends General Tso's was crispy with a delicious sauce that was just on the spicy side. My Kung Pao is supposed to be hot and spicy and mine was. We've tried about every Chinese place in town and I have finally found one that produces it's Kung Pao selection hot and spicy. Also, I had more meat than vegetables, a definite worth the fifth star. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were comparable to the other north side Chinese establishments. We highly recommend Perfect Dinner and will definitely return for more.
