I’ve been a loyal customer for years and have always appreciated the authentic Haitian flavors this restaurant offered. I live an hour away, yet I would gladly make the drive because the food was consistently worth it. Unfortunately, my last few orders have shown a noticeable decline in both quality and taste.
The oxtail, in particular, has had an unusual smell and doesn’t seem to be cleaned or prepped properly. There is significantly more fat left on the meat than before, which was never an issue in the past. It feels like there may be a change in the kitchen staff, and if so, proper retraining or oversight may be needed to maintain the restaurant’s standards.
The owner has always been a very kind and welcoming person, but I haven’t seen her in a while during my visits. I completely understand having other priorities, but as a long-time customer, I believe it may be time to step in and evaluate what’s happening day-to-day, as the overall experience is starting to deteriorate.
Additionally, I often call ahead to place my order since I travel a full hour to get there. I’m asked to call again when I’m 10 minutes away, yet even with that, the food is still not ready upon arrival or unavailable ( even after being told it was ) . To improve customer convenience, especially for those traveling from afar, accepting payments over the phone or offering an online ordering system could make a significant difference.
My intention is not to criticize harshly but to offer honest feedback. This restaurant is one of the few that represents Haitian cuisine in the area, and I would love to see it continue to thrive. I hope these concerns are taken seriously and improvements are made, because the potential and history of this establishment deserve to be upheld.
