Peron

"On the coast road, this building clinging to the rocks offers a breathtaking view of the bay of Marseille and its islands and the château d’If. A brisk sea breeze has shaken up the menu which features dishes such as local and wild fish of the day, stuffed vegetables, duck breast and beef fillet, without forgetting the ubiquitous bouillabaisse, all of which served on the splendid terrace. A genuine institution since 1855!" - Michelin Inspector

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and it definitely met our expectations. The food was excellent, simple ingredients blended beautifully to create rich, well-balanced flavors. As for the service, the person I spoke with to make the reservation was wonderfully kind, thank you for making everything so easy. Unfortunately, one of the staff members who served us was a little rude, which took away from the experience slightly. Still, it was a truly enjoyable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Gorgeous food and impeccable service. We were served by an excellent waiter (whose name I regrettably forgot to ask for!) who spoke extensively to each and every dish, and recommended a chilled red wine we otherwise would have had no chance of finding on the extensive list. We had a cuttlefish tagliatelle and scallops that were to die for, and the tuna steak and rockfish were well executed. Upon request as an off menu item, fresh sea urchins were available as well. It is slightly pricey but if you're visiting and looking for gorgeous views over equally gorgeous food, this is a good spot to book.

One of the best seafood restaurants in Marseille. Dining next to the sea is a privilage. Food and wine selection is great. Service is prompt and good.

Spotted the prime location of this restaurant earlier in the day while on a hop on hop off bus tour of Marseilles. Booked a table immediately via Google, and happy I did because every table was booked! Greeted by Johana at the door who was so warm and welcoming. Thrilled with the views of the ocean, the hills and Château d’If (from the Count of Monte Cristo) and a PERFECT sunset. The decor is so beautiful and classy with a nice pop of color upstairs. The food was delicious! The bouillabaisse comes with 5 different types of fish in a savory sauce. And the surprise ice cream + sorbet dessert was a fun and sweet way to end the night! Will recommend this to anyone going to Marseilles as a “must do” !

Highly satisfied with the food, service, and evening dining at Peron! Everything from the appetizer (loved the blinis and fish egg pate!) to dessert was amazing. All the seafood was very very fresh, and well seasoned. Great open space with amazing balcony view of sunset to add! The staff was very kind, attentive, and made us feel relaxed. Definitely a memorable treat in Marseille.

Phenomenal view, food and service. The ink squid pasta starter was very special, the monkfish main very good but not in the same league. The Rum Baba one of the best! Sunset view 10/10

We loved it - the dishes are beautifully prepared and with a high attention to detail. The view is spectacular and the service on point. Starters were pricey, so we skipped. Overall, highly recommended!

Yelp
I'm surprised this isn't considered 5 stars. We had an incredible experience. Everything I and my coworker got was incredible. The hostess (likely owner) was very nice and accommodating. She even switched us to the outdoor seating for desert when it became available. I highly recommend visiting. This place really made our day trip to Marseille.

Yelp
Everything is amazing: from the view, interior decoration, service to wine list, food, Believe it's one of the best choice to dine in Marseille.

Yelp
Everything from the atmosphere to the food, the wine and the staff was amazing! My husband and I sat in the main floor and the views were beautiful, even on a rainy night. Our waiter was friendly and gave good recommendations without being pushy. I'm usually underwhelmed by seafood but my husband and I both loved our dishes, which were bouillabaisse and monkfish. We also met the owners, who were both very warm and welcoming. Our meal here was very memorable!

Yelp
Fantastic food, beautiful ambience, and incredibly friendly staff. My girlfriend and I went to Le Péron for New Year's Eve dinner and had an amazing time, with beautiful candlelight setting and a table right next to the window overlooking the Mediterranean. Dinner last 5(!) hours and it seemed like half of that. They do a great job with the table placement as well, we were not crowded at all and felt very comfortable. And the food was an awesome mix of options, all of which was delicious, including things that we normally both do not like. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We arrived without a reservation our first night in. They took pity on us and seated us overlooking the most beautiful sunset you could want. The staff was absolutely lovely & charming, making us feel welcomed. The food was wonderful, the bouillabaisse was a truly rich taste of the Mediterranean, and everything else was delightful. I can't say enough how thankful we were that the other place (Chez Michel) lost our reservation and turned us away. It was a most fortunate event. Location, Food, & Staff couldn't possibly have been better. Peron is it!!! Get a reservation and have the best dinner in Marseille overlooking the cliffs of the Med...

Yelp
We only had two nights in Marseille and our hotel recommended Le Péron and I'm so glad that they did. It was an amazing experience from the view, to the staff and the excellent food. I had the pollack which was perfectly prepared and my husband enjoyed the beef tenderloin. I had to steal some of his mashed potatoes because they were incredible. This was a lovely way to end our stay in Marseille.

Yelp
So glad i had the opportunity to try this place! I came here with a large group and the service and food was as good as it gets. Local flavors, traditional french atmosphere, and over the top presentations make the experience unforgettable. Le Peron overlooks the Mediterranean sea adding an incredible view to the dinning experience. We ate here while the sun was setting over the Mediterranean - it was incredible. We were lucky enough to enjoy a traditional 7 course french dinner that lasted well into the evening. I highly recommend Le Peron to somebody looking to add an upscale restaurant experience to their visit to Marseille.

Yelp
Take the first seating at 8:00 so you can have more personal attention before the chaos starts. The restaurant fills up with locals. The ambience is fabulous and the food is great. Expect three hour meal, relax and enjoy. The wine list is more extensive than most restaurants. The scallops and fresh fish dishes are wonderful, moist and tender. The rhubarb desert and the gelato tray are BIG hits. Order your desert early, they can run out. We will go back, next time. It was memorable.

Yelp
Impeccable, delightful and inspiring. Do not miss this experience! The dishes and atmosphere are just amazing. The service is unpretentious, and wait staff are clearly passionate about the food. They want you to have a good experience, and provide any information from wine advice to describing the ingredients. The couteau, or razor clam, to start has a smokey aroma and wonderful flavor. The traditional bouillabaisse is like nothing you have tried in the US. It's unexpectedly hearty with deep, rich flavor. If that's not enough, the building is situated over the water with gorgeous ocean views from any table.

Yelp
So glad we got to try Peron last night ! It was cold outside and they let us in at 7:40pm while they were preparing the tables. gorgeous view of the sea towards the port. a very nice menu with all the local flavors, great cooking with revisited recipes and upscale presentations. notable wine list with local wineries presented in red rose and white. we tried the bouillabaisse and loved the fish soup and the fish was cooked perfectly. a great evening for us !

Yelp
Two weeks in Europe eating our way through Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy. Le Peron was the best view, the best service, and the best food of our entire trip.

Yelp
Worst experience!! We were so excited to come here for lunch and what a horrible experience this was. We made reservations for 4 including our two young children. Upon our arrival we saw an near empty dining room (upstairs was full). I can already tell the look we got as we entered with my buggy and 3 year old son. When asked to be seated at one of the tables by the window, the hostess immediately told us it wasn't possible due to reservations. We asked a few more times and were told we couldn't. So we took a table away from window. Nearly an hour later, some of those window tables remained unoccupied which really infuriated us. And I will note my infant was sleeping and my son very well behaved which is not always the case. It was very very obvious they reserve those tables for walk ins for corporate accounts or maybe locals who look like they will spend more money. I don't know. What really was upsetting is that if you're going to lie to your customers, at least be on the same page. The manager/owner and the hostesses all had different reasons and stories why we couldn't be sat by the window- reservations, only for 5 people or more, etc. Food was good but with very slow service. We were treated so horribly that it ruined the overall experience. I know for sure we were discriminated against because of our young children or because we were tourists but it's was not pleasant. Not good for business.
