The Best Places to Eat in the West Village

"This modest project in Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s sprawling empire was founded in 2005, serving an international take on French cuisine with a casual edge, with dishes like yellowfin tuna burger with yuzu sauce, grilled lamb chops with black olive crumbs, and orecchiette with charred sweet corn. The views of Jersey and the Hudson River from the outdoor terrace are unmatched." - Robert Sietsema

Where To Eat for Restaurant Week in NYC 2023 - Eater NY

"This sleeper project of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and his son Cedric is located on a windy promontory overlooking the Hudson River, and the glowing white room is filled with tables hidden around corners and in nooks — perfect for dating couples or throuples. What’s a Spot With Fancy Food and Stellar Views for a Huge Party? - Eater NY

"I’ll argue the venue you’re looking for is Perry St, a solid American restaurant by Jean-Georges and Cedric Vongerichten. It’s not quite as formal as you might like, but it has great food and views of the Hudson, by virtue of its location in a Richard Meier glass tower on West Street. Keep in mind that the restaurant’s white curtains, visible in most of the photos you’ll encounter, are semi-transparent, not opaque, and can likely be drawn up for better views during parties." - Ryan Sutton

And Just Like That… Episode 10 "In the season finale, Carrie has lunch at chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Greenwich Village spot with Big's brother, who wants to know what Carrie plans to do with her late husband's ashes. "He's on a shelf in my closet, next to my very best shoes," Carrie says. "That would say a lot if you knew me better." In a dream that night, Carrie realizes the best place to scatter Big's ashes: Paris. By the end of the episode, Carrie tosses his ashes (stored in an Eiffel Tower-shaped clutch) off the bridge where the pair rekindled their love in the series finale of the original Sex and the City."

Wow, where should I begin? They warmly welcomed us like family upon arrival. Introduced themselves, sat us down right away. Came around often to top us off with water. The cocktails were outstanding, and the food, even more amazing. I was so impressed. The caviar dish is a must. The asparagus salad is also not to be missed. You must get both of their cheese appetizers, the bass, and their salmon main. It had to be one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. The preparation was flawless. The broth was incredible; it was a nice juicy piece with the crispy skin...incredibly well executed. The Balthazar bread is always excellent. The deserts, strawberry shortcake and chocolate dish...delicious. We were full, but made room, they were too good to leave behind. Thank you a million times over. Please keep doing what you're doing, all of you. You clearly continue to take pride in your culinary craft, and hospitality. I can tell that you don’t skim on quality of ingredients either, in true JG form. Love this place. Location is amazing, close to the expansive water views. Grabbing a taxi is easy too, quick trip to Hudson Yards for the Vessel, Little Island, Chelsea Piers, whatever. There are so many options along that side of Manhattan. This is truly an NYC gem!

Google
Really great food. The pea soup was the best soup I have ever had. The green curry was amazing too. As well as the chicken, and sushi! The molten cake was not that great. It felt like it was frozen and then thawed.

Google
Very happy with my experience here - this is fine dining that executes well and still surprises. Loved their tuna as well as their fried chicken. Pea soup is exceptional and a must add on to their tasting menu! Service is friendly and professional - great spot to impress whoever you’re with!

Google
Incredible food. The layering of flavor, the depth of preparation and the precision around preparation are all a magical union. The service set a high bar and we just had the most wonderful experience. Thank you for having us!

Google
We are very partial on Perry Street. It’s definitely a neighborhood staple we enjoy going when we are in town, but I would say that it’s a bit inconsistent sometimes. The burger is good but again it’s inconsistent. There’s just a opportunity for that level of consistency. But I do recommend it and service is good.

Google
Let me tell you, Perry St was incredible. Thanks to yelp for recommending Perry St. Let me tell you, Perry St was truly cool. Everything on the menu on point, the service is awesome and the ambience and atmosphere is just on point. Friendly atmosphere, terrific service and delicious menu items. Definitely come along with friends. Each and every single thing that we purchased was incredibly fresh and yummy. Every thing that we purchased was extra fresh and flavorful. Everything was fresh, healthy, and extremely tasty. Their service is always really friendly and attentive no matter how busy they are. Everyone who works here is super friendly. The crew is incredibly courteous. I really liked that. Seriously! If you ever be around this area make sure you come try Perry St. The service was outstanding, and I will certainly repeat Perry St when in the area. Terrific place to visit with family, friends, and significant others.

Google
Orrechietti was fantastic, extremely different, and I highly recommend if you are on the adventurous side. It's not a normal pasta dish. Duck was very good but, knife provided was horrible. They need to switch to a steak knife rather than what was basically a butter knife. (Not serrated knife) drinks were good. Staff were truly a pleasure. I appreciate the small talk from the host while bringing us to our table, it was extremely welcoming. I would happy enjoy another meal at this restaurant.

Google
Great service and love how they keep changing the utensils after each course. Very classy!! We had tasting menu with some wine pairings. Love the lobster thermidor and duck. The salad and dessert need some improvements especially at a high end restaurant. We paid $290 in total including tips per person. The wine paring is at $68 but it’s not so great. The waitress didn’t even fill to the quarter of the glass. I recommend you order a bottle for two. That would do the trick. One last thing: if you happen to have some table right next to you, you won’t have a privacy to talk and dine with your partner.

Yelp
Perry Street is a sophisticated spot with a minimalist, elegant design that offers a serene dining experience. The food is meticulously crafted, with standout dishes like the roasted duck and the chicken that are both flavorful and beautifully presented. The wine list is impressive, offering a great selection to pair with your meal. Service is polished and attentive, making sure every detail is taken care of. Overall, Perry Street is a top choice for a refined, upscale meal in the West Village. Great place for a celebration!

Yelp
I absolutely love how it feels to dine at Perry St - dim lighting, comfortable seating, exceptional service, great selection of wines and cocktails. You may occasionally spot a celebrity. :) On my previous visit, however, the food did not impress me as much as it has in the past. Nothing was bad, it just wasn't THAT good. I sure do hope they check that box on my next visit.

Yelp
Went here for Christmas Day dinner, and it was a disappointment. First thing, the restaurant had almost zero Christmas decorations except for one sad little tree. But the entire restaurant had no decoration at all; it's a spartan space, like eating in a strip mall. Hard to believe a Jean-Georges restaurant wouldn't bother to make it look a bit nice inside. As for the food, the butternut squash soup was great, everything else was just OK (duck and beef entrees, desserts). Certainly not worth $500 for dinner for two (fixed price meals for Christmas).

Yelp
Beauty is but a facade. The stunning ambiance draws you in and that's where it leaves you. The lackluster service was almost deafening. Drinks, tasty, but took ages and it seemed as though our server preferred the company of his colleagues as opposed to our table, and that trickled to the other tables. The only savior of this dinner was the fried chicken. Fresh ingredients. Unless you're bringing family here whom you'd rather not converse with, avoid. They're as cold as their bread and butter. (i'm serious, cold bread and colder butter). So much potential and the mark was entirely missed.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Food and ambiance amazing. Service top tier. Definitely recommend. It was the perfect setting for a date night and birthday.

Yelp
Finally took time to see Jean George's and Cedric's place. What a cool location, space and decor. It gives me the high end 1990s NYC energy. The food was really well executed, enjoyed it a lot. I think maybe some of the bar presentation was a bit underwheling for the caliber of the place (such as glasses and infredients into G&T). I would have preferred white table cloths and maybe some more help to the server staff with training (regretably when collecting the paper table mats clumsily spilled crumbs into my lap). Not a big deal but the aspiration is to reach the ideals of service of the high end gastronomy. Lovely people though!

Yelp
I came here for a networking event, and they served these apps in Tapas style. Everything was so delicious! My favorite is the Calamari. It came with this Yuzu Foam that was light and fluffy and added some tart and sweetness to the crispy and savory calamari. Just thinking about it is making me drool a bit... All their ingredients taste so fresh and very well seasoned. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. The dining area is also extremely beautiful with a nice view of the water and sunset in the afternoon/early evening. Perfect date night spot. The service staff were impeccable and amazing. Everyone is so nice and courteous. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Arrived five minutes late for a reservation at a mostly empty restaurant. Walked out two and a half hours later with renewed respect for the cuisine of Jean-Georges but also with disappointment for the speed and quality of service. The guy who we thought was the waiter was never present at the right time, check-ins immediately after dishes were served were skittish, and most importantly the courses were served painfully slowly. Observing the cadence at which other tables were served food, it did seem like something was off. If we ordered the full tasting menu we would have had to bring sleeping bags to the restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing dinner . The pea soup is a must ! The service was impeccable and everyone treated us like royalty . Love Dan !!!!

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week and had such a lovely experience! The inside is upscale and classy, with a gorgeous dining room. The food was excellent too! The highlight of the restaurant week menu was certainly the molten lava cake.

Yelp
The restaurant has a very unique and unassuming look. It's almost like a hotel lobby restaurant vibe. The waiters (Henry) were fabulous with recommendations and knowledge. For starters we had the pear salad which was great but the calamari was the star of the appetizers. The crisp was amazing and the sauce was incredible - despite its looks. For the main course we had the salmon and lobster raviolis. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were the star and the sauce was amazing. The sauce for the lobster ravioli was terrific too!! The lobster, of course, was great and the only disappointing bit was the ravioli itself. There just wasn't anything spectacular about the taste. The sorbet to close the night was perfect and refreshing,

Yelp
Thank you so much for the advice. Your suggestion was really helpful. I will definitely come back soon .

Yelp
Food is delicious, we did the tasting menu but I still want to go back to try more! Pretty restaurant, good service, and tasty cocktails. It's conveniently located right off the west side highway. Good spot for date night, but I also saw some small groups - looked like family get togethers and a birthday dinner. It's a unique place that has amazing food but you can (at least midweek) get a last minute reservation.

Yelp
This restaurant, especially in the early fall, makes you feel like you're at trendy spot in Santa Monica. This is especially true if you sit on the patio like we did. We do the pre fixe, which came came with crispy tuna, heirloom tomatoes, lobster, lamb chop and a pudding desert with crispy velvet. The most notable dishes were the lamb chop which had a deconstructed black olive dish which was more interesting than delicious and the pudding with crispy velvet. Everything was very good, can't wait to come back.

Yelp
NO words for how amazing our dinner was last night. From the second we walked in to this most gorgeous space- with the most beautiful view of the NYC sunset- to when I had to leave reluctantly at the end of the night. We were completely blown away!! The cocktails were fantastic, followed by the most delicious meal we have ever had. We started with the burrata and shrimp salad, both were outstanding- and then I had the bass, complete and total perfection. Thank you so much to our waiter, the sweetest manager and to the most beautiful restaurant I've been to in a very long time. Cheers and see you guys on 7/8- I just put in my reservation for my birthday!

Yelp
Ambience : We visited perry st for my sisters birthday and we're absolutely overjoyed by the experience . The ambience was well lit giving off a cozy ambience. There was minimal background music so we could enjoy our conversations and the waiter and servers were brilliant. The food was served on time. Food : The creamy burrata and the truffle sourdough bread were a massive hit. The truffle and Brie cheese with honey made for a terrific combination being both sweet and savory. The crispy calamari was delicious, the batter was well aerated so it was uniformly cooked. The sauce was light and complimented the dish perfectly. The salmon was truly crispy and perfectly cooked. The salmon melted under the knife and the sauce was delicious and well coated. The sweet potato paired well with it. The duck was well cooked, juicy and the passion fruit sauce complimented it really well. The portion size was really good The seasoned vegetable with green curry was extremely delicious paired with the ginger rice as a side. You cannot go wrong with it. The crispy chicken was larger in portion. Not as good as the salmon or the duck but was still really good . We also ordered a molten chocolate cake that was frikking delicious. With a vanilla ice cream that was executed perfectly Overall would highly recommend this restaurant for special events or a fancy date night

Yelp
Returned for brunch and had a wonderful meal. My boyfriend and I shared: + Crispy calamari + Baby gem and arugula salad + Black truffle burger + Chocolate pudding The highlights were the calamari and dessert (the candied violets in that pudding are just next level), though everything was great per usual.

Yelp
Came here for my father-in-law's birthday dinner, and had a really lovely experience. The appetizers and sides were delicious, but the entrees are a little too salty. Service was perfect though!

Yelp
Third time visiting Perry Street and can now reliably say it is definitely a charm! This time I came with a group of friends on a Sunday evening and tried their winter restaurant week menu, which is a 3-course menu for $60. Tried their pumpkin and basil pot stickers (with soy-lime and ginger sauce), sauteed pork loin, and molten chocolate cake. Loved the Korean-inspired samjang sauce with the pork loin as it provided a unique twist and boldened the flavor. Service has always been outstanding at Perry Street. We were greeted immediately upon entering. Staff was attentive without being overbearing throughout the meal. Sadly, they were quite busy during restaurant week and we were asked to vacate the table and move to the lounge after about 2 hours of meal time - understandable for sure, but not the most pleasant dining experience (especially since we were not informed of the dining time limit when we made the reservation).

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful meal. The menu presents itself as a standard, nice meal, but the flavors that come out of the kitchen bowled me over. Everything was perfectly cooked, perfectly dressed, and perfectly presented. I was obsessed with my entree, the seared black bass with roasted maitake mushroom, aromatic basil broth. It was incredible. I also loved the crispy artichoke with roasted sunchokes, garlic vinaigrette, celeriac. Finally, the rice cracker crusted tuna was wonderful, though I wasn't in love with the citrus-sriracha emulsion. Our dessert, the gingerbread Bundt cake with cranberry sorbet, tasted just like the holidays. All in all, a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Jean Georges always does a good job with the food quality and with the food presentation. Came here for a Sunday night dinner because I wanted to take advantage of the restaurant week deal - 2 courses for $60 (which is more expensive than other places but I think high quality is worth a higher premium on pricing). The service here was great, I asked for tea and they brought it to me in a very pretty / rustic looking saucer cup. The foods: -shrimp dumplings: yummy but maybe a little bit too sweet for the chili for my liking -salmon sashimi: fresh salmon, good quality -roasted hake: the presentation and color of the fish was amazing, I loved how it was an almost translucent color -roast duck: the polenta was really yummy and this presentation was equally amazing, this was probably my favorite dish. Overall thoughts: quality was good and presentation of the dishes were really additive but to me I think the menu was quite ordinary / not as experimental as I had expected. Would recommend since it's good quality and solid food.

Yelp
This was definitely my favorite meal of my recent trip and one of the best meals I've had in NYC. Outdoor patio was cute, I was sat immediately. Service was prompt and friendly. The general Manager was a sweetheart and shared his own experience with the food. I ordered the black truffle brie to start. Honey was the perfect accompaniment to the delicious cheese, and i was appreciative of the salad with vinaigrette and berries on the side. My main dish was the butter poached lobster. Chunks of perfectly poached lobster with potato ravioli and spinach, a lemongrass kafir broth poured over top. This has to be one of the best lobster dishes I've ever had. I have to come back just for this.. stuff of dreams. Thanks for the experience, Perry St.

Yelp
A friend and I wanted to "celebrate" Restaurant Week. She mentioned Perry St. being on her list, so we decided to come. We found free parking around the corner at 6pm on a weekday so I was happy even before setting foot in the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was Perry St.'s outdoor seating. It was set back from the sidewalk and raised up a bit. There were planters between the tables and the sidewalk which gave diners a bit of privacy from passersby. Upon entering the restaurant, I really liked the clean modern look. The waitstaff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was good and the drinks were even better.

Julie M.

Yelp
Food is good. Service got slower. Party of 8 squished into a booth. Is it because we are Asian? The bass, dumpling tuna delish. Duck was ok. Dessert could've more interesting. .

Yelp
It was my first time in this restaurant.. I really love the quality of the food. We had a brunch and the atmosphere was serene and peaceful, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The manager Daniel made us feel so welcome.. We split the pea soup and it was so tasty.. It is big enough to share as an appetizer. We also shared the eggs benedict which was very good too! I highly recommend to pay a visit to this amazing restaurant! Jean-georges never disappoints..

Yelp
Perry St has been a West Village fixture for well over a dozen years. Before the pandemic Perry St was getting a little tired, but it now seems to have its "second wind" and is again innovative. Perry St is a Jean-Georges restaurant, but it is led by his son Cedric who is a talented chef in his own right. We have always been fans of Perry St, but are delighted to see it return to its original form.

Hana C. L.

Yelp
I've been here twice and loved it each time so I decided to celebrate my birthday here. I had a lovely time and the service was impeccable -- so good and prompt that I almost wanted them to slow down a bit because my dining experience felt a bit rushed (I had to turn waiters away from taking my dish a few times because I was just eating more slowly than my partner). Loved the calamari appetizer and the black truffle brie. If there's anything I could tweak, it'd be to make my two entrees (sea bass & curry on the lobster dish) a tad less salty. DO get the chocolate pudding for dessert. It's so decadent and I love the crystalized violets.

Yelp
Perry St is a constant winner. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, my recent visit here was to celebrate picking out a wedding dress with my stepmom, sister and BFF who is visiting from Portland OR. We made an early reservation and had the whole place almost to ourselves. We shared the ginger rice with crispy poached egg, butternut squash soup, spinach side and cracker crusted tuna starters. They were all phenomenal with the soup being a real stand out - they even split the serving for us! Our mains were the salmon, pasta, duck and lobster. We all shared tastes and got to enjoy the variety of flavors. Perry St knocks it out of the park every time and the people who work there are friendly, patient and attentive. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Want to give 3.5 start Calamari and rice cracker tuna are awesome. But main dishes kind of disappointed us a little bit. Seared bass with maitake mushroom is just as okay as I would expect. Beef tenderloin is kind of mediocre, meat is a little tough and the flavor is just so so. Out door seating is pretty nice. Since we are not empresses by the main dishes we didn't try dessert there.

Yelp
I love this iconic NYC restaurant. It's been around for years. It's fine dining, but some diners dress casually. Overall, the service, food and ambiance are impeccable. Daniel Run, the GM is a great example of providing above par customer service. I celebrated my birthday solo and they made me feel so warm and welcoming. I took advantage of the restaurant week menu and loved every bit of it. To kick it off I ordered the best cucumber martini in NYC. The fluke sashimi appetizer was so fresh with buttery avocado, diced radish, soy-ginger dressing and high quality olive oil accoutrement was perfect! The crispy skin salmon with ratatouille was superb. I'm not a big fan of ratatouille, but this Asian version I loved and I ate every morsel. My warm chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream dessert topped with a candle and complimentary dessert wine was the perfect closure to my fine dining meal. Thank you to Daniel and staff.

Yelp
Summer 2019 New York Restaurant Week attendee here! It was actually my first time doing RW in the city and I'm not sure why I haven't gotten off my laurels to do it before. In an ever-expanding list of places I want to eat at, RW makes it so convenient and exposes myself to different cuisines I may not normally spring for. I let my friend pick the place, and she landed on Perry St, intrigued that it's a Jean-Georges and James Beard-award winning place.... hmm... I have always wanted to try that molten lava cake everyone raves about... We get all dolled up and trek over to the place. As other diners have mentioned, it is a little difficult to find. It is on Perry St, but facing the water and the building it looks more like a straight-up office complex then somewhere that would have a restaurant as its first floor. Everything else after was smooth sailing. We were greeted by two kind hostess' who sat us right away. There isn't a bad seat in the house - ours was next to the stairs and we still had no issue with it. It did take a beat to find the bathroom (if you're facing the bar, it's around the corner to the right). I had been ruminating over the RW menu all week so I was pretty set on my order - eggplant toast with ricotta, parmesan-crusted chicken over corn and of course, the signature chocolate molten lava cake. However, I did look over the regular summer menu and may have to scoot back before summer is up to get that poached lobster because that sounded incredible. I ordered a ginger margarita to start which was so delicious. I ordered it since I felt like a sore throat was coming on and figured the ginger miiiight be useful, but, if that's not the case for you, I do recommend it. The waiter came around and set down beautiful slices of rye bread and some fresh and creamy butter. The bread was thick, fresh and the perfect vessel for whetting our appetite and getting us super hyped for our meal. My eggplant toast with ricotta came and I was so delighted by it. I think the toast was the same as the rye bread and it had a great crunch to it, a little tough to cut through, but not a problem to eat. I love that they complimented the eggplant flavor rather than try to hide it. In addition, it was a hefty portion. I tried a bite of my friend's salmon sashimi appetizer and that was also delectable, the salmon was like butter. For my entree, the Parmesan-crusted chicken was a large serving! I was surprised to see the hulking mass there. After all, when you think of finer dining you think small portions. Not the case here. Chicken, juicy, tender, textbook. The crust was snappy and, well, cheesy, so A+ in my book. I wasn't crazy with the corn, it tasted good, but was crunchy? Not sure how I felt about the texture. I had a glass of pinot grigio with my entree. Ah yes, the dessert, chocolate molten lava cakeeeee. Decadent without being overly sweet and a bit on the dark chocolate/bitter side (which I appreciate). I was in a happy place, some may say heaven, for it. A stellar way to conclude the meal and understand what people are talking about when they say you need to have Jean-Georges chocolate molten lava cake (which is apparently featured among all his restaurants). I hope to return to Perry St soon - food was delightful, staff was incredible, ambiance was chic without being pretentious, so it was a great experience overall.

Yelp
Very nice spot right next to the Hudson River. Service-wise [4/5]: Super friendly but very slow service. My party and I had a late afternoon brunch reservation for their outdoor seating. It was a scorching summer day and our host was kind enough to fit us indoor upon request. We waited about 15 minutes to get our drinks and another 15 minutes or so to order the food. It was a cozy Saturday and so it wasn't a problem to us Environment-wise [4/5]: modern and bright setting. Nice place for business lunch or when you feel like dining in a mid-upscale restaurant but doesn't cost you a fortune Food-wise [4/5]: We ordered the following: Boston Lettuce & Arugula Salad [$18], Grilled Yellowfin Tuna Burger [$25], Slow Cooked Salmon [$33], Fried Chicken [$34] and Sticky Bun [$8]. You can skip the tuna burger but I enjoyed the fries very much. It was crispy and flavorful. Salmon was alright - very tender but didn't stand out. The winner went to the Fried Chicken - juicy inside and crunchy outside.

Yelp
So I decided to pay a visit to Jean Georges west village James beard award winning side chick restaurant while his wifey Nougatine takes all the Michelin fame and glory ... Timely- 5/5- We had a show to catch later and they really worked with us and stayed late without rushing the way most American restaurants tend to do Service 5/5- Very attentive and friendly, almost friend odd for a french place Where I have grown accustomed to being snarled at as part of the authenticity ;) Ambience 5/5 - this Asian fusion French kept it classy and contemporary with wide comfortable circular white leather booths and RnB jams later into the night. Great for groups and dates Food: We did the restaurant week menu with a couple of additions for the sake of my curiosity. First addition: The creamy Burrrata with strawberry jam was VERY interesting . It was almost as if the Barada had been melted, altering its consistency to make it harder to break but easier to spread. It did come with Smokey charred focaccia bread Which was a poor decision on the Chefs part since it diluted the burrata taste . Didn't work well : pass! Second addition: I don't drink and have been having a great time exploring the mocktail cultureIn the city. Perry Street was no Gramercy Tavern in this regard but it did not disappoint with its Yuzu strawberry, Ginger lime and lychee grape options..You can also customize the sweeteness which was a nice touch For the rest of the week pretty much stuck with the restaurant week menu but the butter steamed lobster which was not on that caught my eye and I think I will be returning for that. My favorite appetizer was the sashimi with the coconut lime sauce with hints of lemongrass and chili tapioca balls strewn like caviar The mushroom toast was also very well done and their Bread was definitely French The entrees: Steamed sea bass with mango and squash ( which I'm generally moody about ) was a 4.5/5- Not the best Seabass I've ever had but definitely up there Parmesan crusted Amish hen chicken on a bed of corn Was basic- 4/5 Desserts - molten lava cake with toasted almond gelato and blackberry sorbet with roasted plum - 3.5/ 5 - - However, I'll say I have unrealistically high expectations of French desserts as they should pack and out of worldly experience in everybite in my opinion. These were solid . Amelies was way better. We ended up having crEpes from the Creperie on mc dougal after our show - just saying, make of it what you will about the dessert aspect

Yelp
tasty food and wonderful service, But if you're looking for ambiance, here is not a first choice. The location lends no character. However if it's good food you're looking for and you're nearby, by all means go have a delicious meal there!

Yelp
I came to Perry St before they had vegan options and I was still accommodated for dessert while sitting at the bar for drinks. I'm happy to say the service here is beyond exceptional and loved it!

Yelp
Fantastic food. Rice Cracker Tuna is amazing with the citrus emulsion. Rack of lamb has crispy crumbs on the outside, fiddleheads are good but I don't like the sour-flavored artichoke. Sea bass is too less as an entree. But the basil broth is aromatic. It's also the first time I had maitake. Chocolate pudding is a huge surprise!! It's not like the solid caramel pudding, it is more like tiramisu. Strawberry sundae is just like ordinary sundae but I like the bread crumb.

Yelp
Delicious food with amazing flavors, service was a tad slow (relative to other fine dining) but I would 100% go back in a heart beat. The atmosphere was sleek and sexy.

Yelp
Had an amazing thanksgiving dinner at Perry St last night. It serves the juiciest turkey I have ever tasted in my life. The tuna appetizer also deserves all the compliment - it was so fresh and pairs well with the creamy sauce. Finally, the pumpkin pie is also perfect - so creamy and so pumpkin-y. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Can't wait to come back to try more items

Yelp
Been coming here for 15 years but the last time was a real letdown -- the first time they botched the fried chicken. Service always impeccable but things are starting to break down here. Considering how much the prices have gone up, and considering that they've eliminated the taste of Perry St menu, my wife and I have had to let this one go as one of my all time favorite and also hers. It's getting harder and harder to run a restaurant in NYC. I feel for them. But it's no longer worth the arm and a leg they've started charging. They used to have a Taste of Perry St for the middle class and the fancy could still get a Lobster Thermidor. I just can't pay north of $40 for fried chicken that's not absolutely transcendent.

Yelp
We continued Restaraunt Week at Perry Street. The meal was amazing from service to beverages. We started with the Steak Tartare and Fried calamari. The Steak was served in a beautiful presentation with a fried Quail egg. The Calamari was perhaps the most tender we have ever eaten. The entrees were the Butter Poached Lobster and the Lobster Thermidor. the Poached Lobster is the most popular dish in the house for good reason, its served in a very tasty lemongrass and kaffir broth. The Themidor was perhaps the weakest dish although good, I wouldn't repeat it. Desert was over the top an amazing Molten Chocolate Cake and Peach Pavlova. Wine list was small but some nice wines at average NYC markups. House Made Amaretto was excellent after lunch, dinner or whenever ! Overall an excellent meal FOOD 9/10 Service 9/10 and value 9/10.

Yelp
Oh how I've missed dining out in NYC (and reviewing such experiences on Yelp, of course)! My boyfriend and I ventured out to Perry St's outdoor terrace this past weekend for dinner, our first experience of Phase II outdoor dining in NYC. The terrace itself was more spacious than I was expecting, with tables properly distanced and with hand sanitizer on all the tables. Menus have also entered the 21st century with QR codes to scan instead of physical pieces of paper - eco friendly and sanitary! The experience itself felt like an elevated picnic with restaurant quality service. Drinks were served in plastic cups, and food was served in take out containers, although we were given proper silverware and plates, too. I can see this giving certain people more peace of mind, as they were reusing very few utensils/plates/etc. As for the food! We started with the black pepper crab dumplings and crispy calamari, both of which were well cooked and tasty. My favorite was the black pepper crab dumplings - the sauce was super flavorful, and I could easily have eaten another serving myself! For my entree, I had the corn nut crusted shrimp. A simple dish, but I enjoyed the comfort food aspect of it. My only complaint was that they had run out of the sea bass dish, and it wasn't clear when the server told us it was "last call" that he meant it was last call for both drinks and food, as we had wanted to try the carrot cake for dessert but ended up ordering too late. (We chalked it up to the universe telling us that we'd had enough sugar anyway!) Nevertheless, it was a great return to dining out, with friendly service to boot!

Yelp
Quick update on our first dining experience since NYC launched indoor dining at 25% capacity. Jean-Georges is among our favorite chefs and restaurateurs in the city, so we were very happy to return and support the business. Overall, they're doing a great job at Perry St in terms of taking virus prevention seriously while making guest experience as 'normal' as possible. Though it's certainly different than pre-Covid, we had an enjoyable time. Atmosphere - On a Saturday night, they were basically at capacity during prime time. Later on, there were fewer patrons inside, but outside remained busy. - It never felt awkward, indoors there were enough patrons to create a good vibe; though it was quieter than before. - Patio was very popular, with nearly every table taken. Food It's a tall order to develop a good menu that recognizes health and safety while being suitable for takeaway, patio and indoor dining, but they've generally succeeded here. The differences relative to the pre-pandemic menu aren't many, except perhaps in pastry where the desserts are far more simplified. Relative to many competitors, this menu is far closer to its pre-pandemic standard. Favorite Dish: fried chicken, roasted brussels sprouts, scotch bonnet sauce ($30) A classic dish at Perry St! Very generous portion with two full breasts. The breading was of a fine texture and on the lighter side, not too oily. LOVED the scotch bonnet sauce. Very satisfying! Least Favorite Dish: anjou pear salad, sweet gorgonzola, frisée and apple cider vinaigrette ($18) While the ingredients and flavors were great, this was 'deconstructed' to the extent that it was basically a braised pair and pile of frisee with vinaigrette. Would have liked something more integrated. Beverage Perry St still has its usual selection of cocktails, as well as a diverse selection of wines by the glass and bottle. Many good options from which to choose. Improvements have been made to the wine list versus our last visit; really happy to see a greater inclusion of sub-$150 bottles across varietals. Service Our waiter Henry, was awesome - very personable and friendly, and set a welcoming tone. Also, made a great wine pairing recommendation which I would not have considered as obvious. All the staff we encountered had a genuine warm and positive attitude, which worked to overcome the sterile PPE. Health and Safety Of all our indoor experiences nationwide, by far this was the most serious around health and safety. Felt very safe throughout the experience indoors. - Temperature taken by a fancy kiosk machine. - Silverware is wrapped in plastic, napkins are paper. - Food is brought to the dining room covered with cloche. - View menu on phone only. - Tables six feet apart. - Staff wear both mask and face shield.

Yelp
Start to finish, all aspects of the dining experience at Perry St are executed meticulously. From the moment you walk in, a pair of hostesses are primed to greet you and promptly take your coats. Your server will likely go above and beyond for you with trained elegance. The timing of courses is most certainly pre-planned and you'll be given an adequate amount of time to digest. The food here is tasty and well-thought out, though nothing blew me away. Everything was great, nothing exceptional. The prices are a tad higher than I'm used to seeing at restaurants of similar caliber, but I do think you're paying for the panache as well. Perry St is a great option if you're looking for an upscale dinner, perhaps to take the parents or a more serious date. Your brains and your bellies will be cared for and you will leave happy. Came here with the bf and his mom on a Thursday night around 7:30. Perry St is right on the West Side Highway, which makes for a wonderful atmosphere. The space itself is large and elegant, subtly sexy but mostly upscale. It was a chilly night and we were seated fairly close to the door, which wasn't optimal (being on the water is lovely unless you're subject to the wintry breeze). Thankfully, the hostesses made sure to alert us when a more central table opened up (this conveniently happened after we finished our drinks but before we received our food), so we moved after about 30 minutes. The service is absolutely delightful here. Our first waiter was wonderful, particularly with my bf's mother, who is used to southern hospitality (she's from Virginia) but not the glib waitstaff you'll find in New York. When we switched tables she asked the hostess if we could take him with us. It was cute. We did end up being passed of to the waiter taking care of the other section, but the first guy made sure to check up on us. Drink-wise, Perry St has an understated but very impressive cocktail program. At first glance, I wasn't wowed by any of the offerings, but both my drink and the bf's drink were top-notch. He got the Pisco Rhubarb Fizz (Pisco Porton, Citrus, Thai Basil, Suze, Egg White) and I got the Whiskey Buck (Bulleit Bourbon, Ginger, Vanilla and Lemon, Old Fashioned Bitters). Hard to say which I liked better but both were executed perfectly and well-balanced. The wine selection is equally well-curated. They let me try both the Sancerre and the White Burgundy--both were yummy, but I went with the former. It felt more versatile considering the food we ordered. Speaking of... The menu is sophisticated but approachable. I'm a seafood lover, so I was thrilled to see how much fish and the like were featured. As I mentioned earlier, it's hard to go wrong here. The execution is near-flawless, as I'd expect of a JG establishment. My only *minor* complaint is that the fare overall seemed tired and/or uninspired. Not boring, but the flare and excitement I've encountered around the city wasn't quite as potent here. It would be nice to see some more risk-taking but at the same time, we really loved all of our food and the elegance and precision displayed was significant. I'm just nitpicky. Our eats, below: Sesame-crusted asparagus starter, compliments of the kitchen: crunchy/crispy/tasty yum. We got a surprise double-dose of asparagus and thankfully its a vegetable Perry St has clearly mastered. Provence White Asparagus w/ Buttermilk Vinaigrette, Hazelnut, Herbs: A Light yet rich, beautiful presentation. A little asparagus forest with lots of extra goodies hidden amongst the sprigs. This was one of the "seasonal" dishes and it was a fabulous starter. They sure do like their asparagus here. Jonah Crab Cake w/ Cucumber and Kaffir, Sweet-Chili Sauce: A This was my bf's mom's appetizer and while she found it a bit too spicy, I thought it was the perfect amount of heat to pair with the crab cake. Great executed, nice variety in flavor profile. Rice Cracker Crusted Tuna w/ Sriracha-Citrus Emulsion, Scallions: A- Coming in, this dish was so hyped that I could not wait to dive in. It was good, but I was honestly expecting a bit more pizzazz here. The flavors were a bit more muted than expected and the sriracha-citrus emulsion felt too heavy-handed for the dish. The tuna itself was light and yummy, great texture with the crust. Pan Seared Black Bass w/ Grilled Maitake Mushroom, Aromatic Basil Broth: A Beautifully-cooked piece of fish with elegant accompaniments that, while understated, elevated the fish and made for a light but nourishing flavor profile. The broth was tasty and the mushrooms were fantastic. I adore mushrooms and these were a slam dunk. Roasted Crescent Duck w/ Tender Carrots, Turnips, Citrus-Chili Jus: A/A+ I can't get enough duck these days and this was delicious. Cooked two ways here, both unbelievably flavorful. The richest dish of the night, warming and powerful. Sweet and citrusy, nicely paired with the winter root veggies.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years. The ambiance is great for reunions and meetups, great views of the surrounding trees and water and music at the perfect volume for conversation. We have also never been disappointed by the following foods: - The rotating selection of soups, most recently the Thai chili broccoli soup which was an incredible burst of roasted broccoli, coconut foam and a subtle punch of flavor with the chili. - Appetizers: The red snapper sashimi, which has changed my world view on grapes in savory dishes as a whole, and the rice cracker crusted tuna. - Entrees: Don't hesitate on the butter-poached lobster, the lemongrass broth and potato ravioli are to die for! The fried chicken with creamed corn is also a strong contender. - Dessert: Molten chocolate cake, 100%. That being said, yesterday was the first time we were let down by the overall service. - We had ordered the Pol Rogere champagne followed by a 2018 Alsatian Pinot Gris, and when drinking what we thought was the Pinot Gris, we realized it was not actually the correct bottle of wine. We wanted to keep the bottle label for recording purposes and the supervisor ultimately gave us the correct bottle to keep, but as it turned out, the bottle still contained about a 1/3 of the amount of wine. I can only imagine that the table whose wine we ended up drinking was also as frustrated as we were. - Additionally, we were told by the supervisor that another party's reservation was for our table only 15 minutes prior to when they were arriving. He assured us that he would accelerate the time of our desserts leaving the kitchen as well as receiving the check, but none of those were done. This information of another party's reservation time should have been communicated much more in advance so that both us and the kitchen can prepare accordingly. Additionally, bringing out the dishes and refilling water and wine glasses was much slower than normal, which further exacerbated the time situation. - (of note as well, there were two major dish crashes during our dinner) There were also letdowns with some of the food, most egregiously the crispy skin salmon which did not have crispy skin at all. The best parts of the dish were actually the ginger-chili vinagrette and the squash. We may have come at a time where there is transition of roles and new servers, which is why it is even more important that these grievances be highlighted. We love Perry Street and want it to thrive for as long as possible, so we hope these flaws are addressed accordingly.

Yelp
Food, atmosphere and the experience are all very good - probably 4 stars Just be very careful - I got charged twice for the deposit paid - and it was a big sum.

Yelp
My wife and I dined at Perry Street last Sunday night. We are finally getting back into going to Manhattan for Dinner. We decided on Perry Street because we have dined their many times and have always been please. Not this time. Appetizers were very good and that is where my compliments end. I ordered the Duck for an entrée. I asked for it to be medium it was not. It was tough and cold. My wife had the Salmon and she said it was just OK. I asked for sea salt and never received it. Service was Poor. This is not what we expect from a Jean-Georges restaurant. We have dined in many of his establishments and always come away satisfied, not this time. The menu is old and somewhat boring. Overall a disappointing experience.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week and it was a gustatory delight. This restaurant is SEXY. Very sleek lines, extremely modern, and it's by the river. I came in the afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the hake, tuna tartare, and the molten chocolate lava caken with dulce de leche ice cream. The tuna tartare was very flavorful and one of the best tartare's I've ever had. I then had the hake which was flaky, buttery, and fresh. I didn't know before that I need that fish in my life, but I did. Finally, I got to enjoy the lava cake! The lava cake was good, but it wasn't incredibly sweet. I have a huge sweet tooth, so I would have appreciated that, however this is a great dessert for those who prefer dark chocolate. The ice cream was the best part. The only thing that annoyed me: the waitress offered me sparkling water, like it was complimentary, but when I looked at the bill, it was $16 more! Please be more transparent on how you present things! Otherwise I would definitely come back for more.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. A group of us got to try a variety of things on the menu, and each dish was phenomenal. They were all, on the surface, familiar dishes - duck, tuna, sashimi, calamari etc. But there was always some kind of twist that made it taste better than any I've ever had before. The best way I can describe it is that there is always something that tickles your tongue and makes you hunger for more, no matter what it is. The meat, in particular, was always perfectly cooked and prepared. Just, wow. Great for the price point and amazing service as well. The ambiance was so relaxing, too. Warmly lit and comfortable, very upscale but not pretentious. It was a bit of a life changing experience, honestly. I can't taste food the same ever again.
