14 Refreshingly Retro Diners in San Diego

"Its freeway-adjacent location and ample parking lot make Perry’s a popular fuel-up spot with truckers passing through as well as hungry locals. Opened in 1985 and still operated by the same family, the roadside diner, touts its “best breakfast in town,” with regulars filling its large dining room to indulge in griddle classics and egg dishes. Try one of the frittatas paired with a homemade biscuit." - Candice Woo

This iconic breakfast diner will close for business in a week and a half (8/15/24). We will be sad as we used to come here somewhat regularly. Perry’s Cafe will be replaced by a multi-occupancy housing structure and be re-zoned for residential purposes. While probably our last meal unless we fight the massive crowds towards their final days in operation, we sat at their breakfast counter and shared a chicken fried steak, hash browns well done, 2 sunny side eggs, and an extra biscuit for a total of 2, plus 2 regular coffees. Everything was served quickly, hot, and delicious. Our coffee mugs were constantly topped off with more coffee up until the time we finished. Service was friendly and hospitable. Our area at the counter was clean and tidy. They were out of t-shirts or I would’ve bought one to remember this legendary San Diego diner. Thank you Perry’s Cafe for all the great times you had over the decades serving the residents of America’s Finest City!

Decided to just go have breakfast Va cooking it myself and what a great decision on a Sunday morning. Went out with my date and we had the chicken fried steaks and country fried steak with hash brown and or home fries as you can see in the picture I like hot sauce, lol. But overall great vibe and the food was amazing, finger licking, didn’t take long and best of all lots of parking available. Will share pictures.

Love the decor of this diner; reminds me of an old-school, regular diner. Not the most Instagrammable place, but it brings out nostalgic feelings. Our server was friendly and efficient. We could tell that she was busy (it was packed and she had lots of tables to take care of), but she refilled our waters without us even asking and came back a few times to check on us if we needed anything. The portion here is big and I love it! I got the biscuit and gravy and it's good. Nice, hot biscuits smothered in thick gravy. The frittatas look good; have to come back next time for that.

Update** So sad that it is closing. So we had to go back one last time. Delicious as ever. I hope they reopen at a new location. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Great old school diner. It's busy but they seem to get people in and out pretty quick. I recommend the chicken fried steak breakfast. Pretty tasty. 😛 *** Update *** went back today and had the smoke pork chop breakfast. Super delicious !!! My wife had huevos rancheros , very generous portions . 😋 .

Perry's Cafe was recommended by a friend who loves their breakfast ham. We were greeted, quickly seated and offered a cup coffee. Our server, Melody, was very friendly and gave us great service. All four of us ordered something different. All of us, thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Corn beef hash and eggs, Ham steak and eggs, Steak and eggs and Vegetable Frittata, accompanied by an assortment of toasted breads, English muffin and biscuit. My only complaint, is that I ordered my steak medium and it came totally well done, but it was still juicy and flavorful. I highly recommend Perry's Cafe. Definitely one of my new favorite breakfast restaurants.

Google
This is a typical American home-cooked restaurant. The service is friendly and the food is overall good. The ice americano is that it is too soft and the taste is not good. If you order a different drink, you can eat better food. I think muffin is made by themselves and the muffin is not too sweet and it is delicious.

Google
This place is a solid breakfast spot. Portions are good and the food is tasty. There’s plenty of parking available with spots available on both sides of the building. The chicken fried steak is not what you’d expect since there’s no breading on it. Despite this it’s still tasty. We had the blueberry muffin and it’s just ok. The texture and consistency is like angel food cake with blueberries. Next time I’m going to try the biscuit.

Google
Soooo delicious! I recommend you try the Burger Patty w/ Eggs, you can add hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy if you’re really hungry! The meal was very tasty and hit the spot. This was a cool little diner and definitely one of the best in the area. The staff was decent and service was excellent. We always had the waitress coming back to fill our drinks in a timely fashion. If you’re looking for a family friendly local diner I think this will float your boat!

Yelp
I haven't been here since I was a child, and I instantly regretted not coming more often. You get the highest standard of a no frills, diner experience from the moment you walk in, to when you waddle out talking about how you don't even need lunch that day. The food is very good at Perry's. Large quantities for each dish - not sacrificing quality. The service is great and it will never be long before your coffee is filled. Easy check out at your convenience as you are walking out. Overall just a solid experience. Expect a line as pictured if you choose to come on a weekend.

Yelp
Dropped off a family member early at airport and had time to kill before work. We had breakfast at Perry's Cafe. They opened at 7am and we arrived early. They sat us down and served us coffee even though they were not open yet cuz it was 6:45am. We ordered the deluxe frittata that was great portion size w/ side of hash browns. My husband ordered the chorizo with egg. The portions were plenty. The coffee was overflowing. The customer service was outstanding. We will be back . Happy customer Laura & hubby

Yelp
My boyfriend used to work at the transit center and he said this place was always full on weekends and wanted to take me here. We started off with orange juice, water and coffee. He ordered the paisano frittata (Italian breakfast) with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. I ordered the two eggs two bacon and a waffle. Everything was SO good! Super fresh, the cheese on the frittata was melty and the cheese pull did what it had to do The waffle was amazing the small squares and soft batter had butter and syrup in every bite The show stopper was the biscuits and gravy it tasted so fresh! The biscuits were toasted, soft and fluffy and the hot gravy was so flavorful. Definitely put Perry's on your breakfast bucket list! Everything was $42 dollars which he would happily again :p

Yelp
We used to go to the Perry's in el Cajon. Great staff and great food. I can only comment on this Perry's in El Cajon. The food was very good and always hot. The wait staff was very attentive and would spend as needed time with you. You felt like family. So sorry to see it closed

Yelp
AWARENESS: I've passed by Perry's Cafe dozens of times but had never visited or eaten here. That changed in October of 2023 when a retired Navy group I belong to invited me for breakfast. NARRATIVE: In late October of 2023, myself and another Navy buddy left the Sacramento area early on a Thursday and headed South towards San Diego. Our plans were to meet up the next morning (Friday) for breakfast with some our retired and veteran Navy buddies who live in the area. On Friday morning, we met our group in the parking lot of Perry's around 6:30 am. When I asked why we needed to meet so early, especially when Perry's didn't open until 7, I was simple told "you'll see why soon." At 7:00 am sharp, the doors of Perry's were opened and being the first ones inside, we headed to the large back room and took seats at a large table. Within moments of sitting down, our server arrived, dropping off menus and taking drink orders while we looked over the large menu items. Not knowing what was good, I turned my buddy Jim who's been to Perry's on many occasions and asked "what's good." He replied that I could never go wrong with their corn beef and eggs so, that's what I ordered. SCENE: Perry's Cafe is located right next to the Old Town San Diego trolly station. The cafe is old school. Nothing fancy. It's just a good, old school place to grab a great meal at a reasonable price. RECOMMENDATION(S): If your looking for a hardy meal at an reasonable price, Perry's Cafe is a must try. Oh, and if you don't arrive early, when the doors first open. Be ready to wait for a table or a seat. Within a matter of 10 minutes after opening their doors on the Friday I went, the place was jammed packed.

Yelp
I had some family in town and they really wanted a good breakfast, this happened to be around the corner from where they were staying. Parking is no issue here, the parking lot is HUGE. We ended up coming in around 10am. It was packed even though it was a weekday. The atmosphere is a no frills, casual dining, good for families. We were sat as soon as we got in and offered fresh coffee. The menu had all the traditional breakfast favorites as well as some lunch items. The French toast was delicious and the biscuits and gravy as well! We liked it so much we went back again the next day!

Yelp
This place knows how to manage large parties! First time coming here with a party of 12 and the staff took care of us. Their food is diner style, but I absolutely love their breakfast menu. A Fritata with beans and corn tortillas was great this time, except I need to remember to request less cheese/no cheese on my beans. It's just a little overwhelming when it's also in your eggs. I've been a returning customer and will always recommend this place as a breakfast spot. I don't need fancy breakfast plates or mimosas!

Yelp
Such a gem, we are SO glad we stopped here for breakfast. The wait staff was beyond friendly, despite how busy they clearly were, and the food was wonderful. We felt it was a really good amount of food for the price, and there is no beating the extensive options they offered: sweet, savory, typical American, typical Mexican breakfast, somewhere in the middle, they had EVERYTHING. The food was ready quickly, and we got the honor of sitting near the kitchen, so we could feel the old-timey diner vibe the entire time. I always laugh when places advertise themselves as "best breakfast in town" because that is such a big claim for no backing, but Perry's definitely impressed me, and it was clear the community agreed from how popular they were. I highly recommend, especially if you want high quality variety!

Yelp
I absolutely loved this diner and will return here next time I'm in the area. Service was great and friendly, the food arrived record fast, and the food was phenomenal.

Yelp
Visited Perry's Cafe recently and it was a decent spot for a quick bite. The pancakes were fluffy, and the hash browns had a perfect crisp to them. They offer unlimited coffee refills, which is a plus, but the creamers and sugars are just the standard fare. Topping options for pancakes were somewhat limited, including pecan, banana, and blueberry--though keep in mind that blueberry is seasonal. My wife tried the biscuits and gravy. She found herself needing to add salt and pepper, but overall thought it was okay. The kids enjoyed their French toast and had no complaints there. Service was surprisingly good despite the cafe being busy; our waitress managed her tables efficiently and with care. The seating setup is simple--think old tables and standard chairs and a bit cramped inside. Overall, Perry's Cafe feels quite similar to a Denny's or IHOP. If you find yourself in the area and there isn't a long wait, it's worth a visit.

Yelp
Friendly staff, food was as good as you think, couldn't complain. Over all 7.3/10 Clean inside, has something of a modern touch to it, very refreshing.

Yelp
My favorite place for breakfast in San Diego! HUGE portions and thr east coffee youve ever had!!

Yelp
Classic diner food is what is on the menu here. If that's not what you're in the mood for, you're in the wrong place! The service is quick and friendly, the restaurant is clean and the coffee is passable. So in my diner food craved state, I headed over here today for a late breakfast. I should've known better and just have ordered some thing that was solidly on the menu and not tried to go for a healthier option. I was in the mood for an omelette so I asked if they could do one with spinach, mushroom and cheese. It came out and was huge and loaded with cheese. At first sight I thought it looked pretty incredible, but as soon as I started to eat it, I realized that the spinach was definitely frozen and there was absolutely no seasoning on it. Not even salt! It was massive, watery and mostly tasteless to be honest. I ended up taking half of it home to doctor up later. My fiancé ordered a more basic breakfast with a slice of fried ham and I was jealous of it the entire time I was eating. He gave me a taste, and it was perfect. Remind me never to try to make my own meal at a diner again lol. I did go for the pancakes on the side and I highly recommend them. Big and fluffy. Served piping hot with whipped butter and syrup. Get in my belly! Probably not a place I will hit up regularly but definitely a good spot if you've got a hangover or just want a heavy classic breakfast.

Yelp
I sincerely hate writing poor reviews but the only reason I can imagine this place is so busy and reviewed highly is because they have parking. Again I hate saying negative things but that's what this app is for to hear good and bad. My reviews are almost always positive but I can't with Perry's Cafe. Standard type diner decor. Booth type tables. Walking in I was sure they were hitting it out of the park. Walking back to car hungry, a bit frustrated and disappointed. The host, manager (maybe owner) and a gentleman bussing tables worked incredibly hard and were pleasant. 2 stars because of these people solely. I see hard work and they were doing their jobs well and quickly. The kitchen staff was pushing food out fast for a lot of people but maybe they slow down and add some flavor. I've never had such bland or in some cases badly flavored food. Our server was less than pleasant, she didn't seem to actually want to serve tables. I've served so many times in my life, I know the challenges but if you are doing it do it well. We ordered home fries and both our meals came out with hash browns. I assumed it was the universe wanting us to not miss the hash browns and to be honest the only thing missing was again flavor. I'm not sure why anyone would order hash browns in the first place never mind with no flavor. French toast (a single side order, 1 piece) was massive and again I had high hopes. Again I was let down, there was a strange flavor to it. A little vanilla and cinnamon would go a long way here. The omelette was dry and again no flavor. Thank goodness we had salt and pepper on the table. Coffee was mediocre diner coffee. So $58 ($48 food and $10 tip) later and still hungry I would forgo this establishment. I did take the mini blueberry cake muffin with me and hope to uncover the jewel of Perry's Cafe.

Yelp
Oh Perry's... best Breakfast in town? What an impressive, presumptuous claim. Best breakfast means you're better than all of the taco shops, all of the cafés, all of the brunch spots all over San Diego. We are a food tourism city. It's incredibly difficult to be the best. But Perry manages to do well. It is great. I enjoy breakfast at my convenience. But I don't go out of my way to eat here. For the tourists, yes, feel free to feast. You will be more than satisfied. For the locals, Yesenia's. It's the best.

Kevin D.

Yelp
Frittata was overwhelmingly delish and large, no way I could eat all of this food lol Coffee was plentiful and service was quick all around. One critique is the men's room is a one seater and when the coffee kicks in you'll have to use the sink if you have a squatter lol

Yelp
This place was popping on a Sunday morning, but we were still able to be seated within 5 minutes. The atmosphere is casual and lively. I ordered the spinach frittata ($16) which consists of spinach, bacon, and mushroom. My husband got the Mexican frittata with shredded beef. Sides of potato (hash or homefries) and bread (muffin or toast) are included. Service was friendly and prompt, and we got our food quickly. The portions are huge. Home fries were delicious, cooked with a nice crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. As for the spinach frittata, I thought it was a bit on the watery side. I got a bit bored of it 2/3 of the way through, so I wouldn't order this again. My husband said the Mexican frittata was packed full of meat, but was greasy and heavy and probably wouldn't order it again either. I'm still giving this spot a 4/5 despite us feeling lukewarm about our frittatas, because I loved everything else like the blueberry muffin, potatoes, portion sizes, and atmosphere. Next time, though, I'm definitely trying the French toast with fruit! I saw a couple of people order it and it looked sooooo good.

Yelp
I come here every couple of months on Saturday morning to meet with one of my mentors. It is always busy, but the great thing is there is a ton of parking and even though a lot of people are coming, there are also a lot of people leaving at any given time due to quick turn around. Even though it is always busy, it never feels too crowded. It's really uncanny how they manage to pull this off but they do. Once I tried the food, I realized why they are always busy. It is delicious simple homemade staples. I have had omelets, corned beef hash, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy...etc. They have a fantastic blueberry muffin loaf you can get in lieu of toast. Home fries and hash browns are served fresh and crispy. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Coffee was always served hot and refilled as often as we wanted, with ample amounts of creamer available. They do not do take out on weekends but I just order what I want to take out at time I order our food, and then ask for a take home box and bag when we are done eating. I think you can get take out on weekdays. All around, a solid and reliable place to get your breakfast on. Hopefully I will be able to try their lunch menu one of these days. This place has been around forever and weathered the plandemic, so you know it's doing a lot of things right!

Pissed O.

Yelp
Horrible service. If your white don't go here. Staff clearly caters to Mexicans as first priority. Best breakfast in town? lol. Take that sign down. McDonalds is better
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
It was delicious and everything was quick to come out. The service was great and attentive. The only thing I can say is that it was busy, but I guess that's expected with a popular spot.
google avatar

Lynzee H.

Yelp
Perry's cafe is a quiet little dinner that I always see driving on the freeway so I had to give it a try. The ambiance takes you right back to an old school dinner feel. No frills, but it feels cozy. The service is incredible and you can tell all the staff love their jobs and love the regulars that come in. In terms of food, it's great breakfast with standard option. One thing that sets this place aside is the blueberry scone bread. You can't visit this place and not try it. Overall, this is a solid breakfast spot that is casual and a great place if you're looking for a quiet diner spot to enjoy a great meal.

Yelp
We were in the old town area this morning and decided to stop at Perry's cafe. We had not been there since we ate there during Covid. They closed the Perry's in El Cajon almost two years ago this May. We ran into our favorite waitress. The food has not changed and is as consistent as it has always been. The ambiance is old school cafe style. This is the place for a great meal breakfast or lunch. You will get your money's worth and great service. I would recommend Perry's Cafe to everyone. Sorry I forgot to take pictures, I was so emotional about seeing our waitress and the food. Enjoy

Yelp
This place was in walking distance from my hotel. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could but a part of our order was not corrected. I'll explain that in a bit. We walked right into the cutest, real diner I've seen in a long time. You have visibility into the kitchen. There are chairs lined up on the counter facing that as well. My hubby and I got seated in a small booth near the entryway. We were both given a great cup of coffee. I rarely do coffee but it smelled good so I just added a ton of creamer. I ordered chorizo & eggs with refried beans, salsa and two homemade tortillas. My hubby ordered biscuits & gravy, crispy bacon and a side of scrambled eggs. It all came out in a jiffy. My plate was hot but my hubby's plate was cold. He took a bite out of a biscuit. He sent it back. The side of gravy was hot so we suspected they made his first, let it sit around, then got the other stuff together. My plate was huge, enough for 3 tacos for sure and it was good. It's hard to find good chorizo that isn't too greasy. My hubby's scrambled eggs were light and super fluffy. We think they used heavy cream in them and they were delicious. When my hubby's plate of biscuits & gravy came back, the kitchen had just used the same plate and put more gravy on top of it. That was off putting. There was even the same bite that he'd taken off the first time. You'd think it would be simple enough to make a new plate, make it right. Other than that, I'd go back. Just split an order of the Mexican style breakfast and you should be in good hands. Go there. Get some. Life is too short for boring food.

Yelp
It's been many years since I've been to San Diego's iconic breakfast stop. Why I don't know but, as I remembered the place was packed! Great menu selections from you basic eggs and pancakes to Mexican breakfast plates and frittatas. The service was friendly, good sized portions and tasty food! It won't be so long until we come back!!!
google avatar

Sanae T.

Yelp
Good old greasy diner with not so strong coffee. Honey packets on table. No music but clinks of silverware on ceramic plates and people's conversations all around. Huge portions, blueberry bread (more like cake), and using paper container for leftovers. I approve!

L M.

Yelp
Great service, HUGE portions, best hash browns and blueberry muffins! Extremely clean, too. GO! GO! GO!

Yelp
I found this place out of urgent need. I was running late for a round of meetings and had not eaten breakfast. I saw the dinner and made a beeline for it. I walked in and was immediately served. I got my food to go and was on my way. I ate in the parking lot and the food was just perfect. Sorry that there are no pics, but I was in a rush and hungry. The bacon, egg, and cheese was exactly how you would imagine a perfect dinner sandwich tasting. I recommend it. I would love to see what else they can cook to perfection.

Josh O.

Yelp
Seeing this place is supposed to be the best breakfast in sd we decided to try it out. The food came out cool not cold though. The waitress was too busy running around to stop and check on our meal. The food tasted just ok. Nothing special or stand out. We tried it a second time a couple months later and found the experience to be the same bland cool food, it seems almost like there more interested in packing the place full of people than giving them good food.

Karen W.

Yelp
Traditional breakfast type diner with good food and good service. A lot of locals here and friendly staff

Yelp
After driving around looking for a breakfast place that didn't have a mile long line out the door at high breakfast time, we stumbled across this place. We had no idea what we were getting or how long our wait would be, but it was getting closer to lunch than breakfast. We stopped (tons of parking available) and added our name to the waitlist. Within 10 minutes we were seated and looking at the massive menu. The place is large and super loud. The restaurant is dated and not the upscale trendy brunch spot that we had passed on along the way. My husband ordered the classic bacon(4) , scrambled eggs(2), hash browns with blueberry loaf muffin. I ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of corn tortilla and salsa. The food was amazing and just what we were looking for and was more than we could finish. The service was excellent and everyone was super friendly. We saw many families come and go all looked pleased and full. We will definitely be returning to start off our day.

Jill Z.

Yelp
Saw the excellent Yelp reviews and decided to stop by for a quick breakfast. We sat at the bar and got our food in less than 5 minutes. Delicious! Such a fun vibe and atmosphere. Very hard, fast workers and great prices. The food was delicious. We will be back!

Yelp
I can't say enough about Perry's Cafe on Rosecrans and Pacific ave !I had my usual Hotcakes two eggs and bacon cooked perfectly for only $13.99!You have to try it,move over ihop!Expect a wait on weekends and holidays!

Yelp
Been here a few times food is good services is fast friendly and always served hot. I had the eggs but were a lil over cooked but the pancakes and home fries are always on point. I have tried Rudford's but Perry's takes them out. They offer home fries and hash browns both are an excellent choice. Will definitely be back for more...

Yelp
We've tried the French toast, pancakes and waffles and have concluded that they do savoury breakfast food here very well but sweet breakfasts not as much. The first time we came here. The hash browns were probably some of the best hash browns I've ever had. Ultra crisp, perfectly golden, nice buttery flavor, seasoned nicely and moist in the centre. The second time we went the hashbrowns weren't the same and they were less crisp and also tasted like they were cooked on a griddle that previously had something burnt on it. Sausages were very yummy. Eggs were good. I thought the bacon was overcooked and on the verge of being burnt but my husband didn't mind it. I know the doneness levels of bacon can be personal preference. Biscuit & gravy were delicious. The sausage in the gravy really came through and it was just delicious. The blueberry loaf muffin tasted like those boxed confetti cake mix cakes. It was very light. Also reminded me of an Angel food cake. The strawberry French toast was ok. The bread wasn't soft or fluffy in the middle. It was more firm and seemed kind of stale. I also didn't like that the fruit on the French toast was defrosted strawberries. The strawberries were kinda soggy and also I don't like that they add red food colouring to the defrosted strawberries. It would be much better if they used fresh strawberries. I understand that there's a definite cost difference there though. Pancakes were complimentary and I thought that was so sweet and kind of the cook. They did have a nice pancake flavor. The waffle was not bad but not that great. Regardless, we really enjoy the savory breakfast fare here, the great personable and friendly service. We will definitely be back again.

Yelp
My daughter and I were looking forward to going here because I've seen it from the freeway for many years but never went. My daughter said her pancakes and bacon. She asked why the pancakes taste like medicine. I got chicken fried steak, eggs and potatoes. I tried everything and it was truly gross and what kid doesn't like pancakes??? Not for us at all. It was heavy, greasy and overall gross. The service was not so great but I must say, they were completely packed and people were eating. It just wasn't for us.

Yelp
I love coming to Perry's and so glad that I live close by whenever I have a craving. The enchilada plate never fails to satisfy! Their omelette plates and pancakes are super delicious too. Service is top notch. Every time I go I feel so welcomed and taken care of. If you love an all American diner (with a Mexican touch), this is the place to go! It really is the best place to have breakfast in SD.

Yelp
The location was convenient. The food was delicious. We all enjoyed the flavors. Shrimp and grits were a hit

Yelp
Wow! I'm so glad we came here and tasted their frittata! Long story short, I went to San Diego for a few days with my gf (few months ago) while there, we went to eat to different restaurants and I was a little disappointed at the food we had (not bad restaurants but would never go to them ever again) I felt like my trip to San Diego was gonna have a "bad food taste", UNTIL I tried this Fritatta, WOW! I was amazed of the amount of tastiness, everything here was great. Prices, Portions, Place and the service was great, thank you for such a great food experience. I highly recommend this place! I will be back, for more!

Yelp
Once a year, I take my interns to the nearby Perry's Cafe for a breakfast. It is the perfect diner experience... regular coffee refills, and any egg and pancake breakfast you could hope for. From the inside out, Perry's Cafe has the traditional American Diner feel. However, there is a Mexican breakfast menu incorporated into their breakfast menu. Also, they really specialize in frittatas, or as they call it: fancy omelettes. Over the years, I have really grown to enjoy the frittatas. Last year I remember having the zucchini frittata and this year I had the spinach frittata. This time, I had the frittata served Mexican style, with beans and tortillas instead of toast and hash browns. This year I also had the frittata with egg white only. It was nice to have that option for only $1 extra. I do think it is better with the full egg, however. Several years ago, I was able to order healthy sides including chicken sausage and tomatoes, and fat-free milk for my coffee. Unfortunately, those options never seemed to return to the menu after the pandemic. Service is always very good. I have been there with groups ranging from 4 to7 people, and have never needed a reservation, and have never had to wait. Coffee refills come readily, as in any good American diner. Food is served promptly, so that we can all be at work on time. Staff has always obliged and taken pictures of our group on the way out. We will be back next year!

Yelp
My friends and I were visiting San Diego and were looking for a good breakfast spot on our way back to LA and decided to stop here. Even with the large line of people waiting outside we were seated pretty quickly which was nice. Our server was really nice. That's always a plus. My friends ordered coffee and the creamer they were given was expired and sour so the server brought them new mugs, one had old lipstick on it. The food was eh. My waffle was delicious but the Hashbrowns had no seasoning at all, they just tasted like the oil they were fried in. I asked for extra crispy bacon they brought me floppy bacon. We would not recommend.

Yelp
Egg frittata was amazing along w all the other breakfast dishes. The service was excellent they are always checking up to see if you need more coffee or water. The blueberry muffin was so tasty. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
2.5 stars... Popped in on a Sunday morning, and only had about a 10 minute wait! Based upon the line I knew this was a local favorite. Ordered the breakfast burrito...beans, chorizo, eggs, cheese, and a hot flour tortilla. It was a huge portion, but lacked texture and could benefit from some vegetables or sour cream. The highlight was the refried beans covered in melty cheese. Ambiance is retro diner, service was average, and prices were in line with portions. I might give this place another try as I was just not impressed with the burrito, but at first glance this joint does not make the list.

Yelp
Service food waitress everything perfect. Old-fashioned coffee shop with lines out the door that you give good portions with well-made and not greasy food for coffee shop. Simply the best place to go for breakfast in San Diego.

Yelp
Yessir! I came, I was starving, and then I wanted to take a nap... Lunch? Dinner? Nah, I was done for the day. Had the spinach frittata, hash browns, small blueberry "loaf" and lots o'coffee. Our server stopped by frequently to check on our needs. To keep this short, it was fantastic! Looking to satisfy your daily caloric intake? This.be.da.place!

Yelp
Came here after church this past Sunday and had to wait 20 minutes just to sit kitchen counter side. Wait to be seated was long, time to order and wait for food thankfully was short. We had biscuits and gravy w/ a side of scrambled eggs & bacon strips. Order comes with 3 biscuits, 2 strips of bacon, and what seemed like 2 eggs. Dining room ambiance was your typical diner type of feel. Our server was nice, attentive, and busers are very fast and turning a seat over in preparation for their next patron. Our server accidentally poured regular coffee in my decaf mug and maybe didn't see the decaf coaster which my coffee mug was placed on. Food was very reasonably priced. No issues paying at the cashier. TIP: parking is aplenty, but park on the north side lot as that is the one closest to their entrance.
