The Peruvian Brothers bring the authentic, unique tastes of "Comida Criolla" to the streets of Washington D.C. The history behind the Peruvian Comida Criolla cuisine is as appealing and complex as the unique combinations of flavor. With roots in Andean-Spanish-Afro-Peruvian and Asian influences, Comida Criolla boasts powerful flavors, Recipes passed down in the Lanzone family as well as Mario's own original spins on traditional Peruvian favorites give the menu an authentic taste with a unique twist. Peruvian Brothers will specialize in sandwiches and empanadas featuring chicharron (pork tenderloin), asado (beef), chicken and butifarra (pork loin) as well as vegetarian options all served with traditional Salsa Criolla, thinly sliced julienne onions marinated in lime juice with chopped Peruvian chilies. On the sweet side, alfajores, bread pudding, rice pudding and homemade Lucuma ice cream highlights the authentic flavors of the subtropical fruit native to the Andean valleys of Peru.
"Now through Halloween, all kids in costumes can swing by Peruvian Brothers’ outposts at the Stand in Crystal City and La Cosecha in Northeast for complimentary alfajores cookies. Dressed-up doggies can trick or treat for a snack, too." - Kalina Newman
"The Peruvian Brothers, the sibling-run business that has grown into three food trucks and a catering operation over the past seven years, are holding an all-day opening party for their first building location — inside the Latin American market — on Saturday." - Gabe Hiatt
"Stocked with meaty sandwiches and Inca Kola soda, native Peruvians Giuseppe and Mario Lanzone also make three classic baked empanada options in their food truck. A golden brown empanada is filled with beef, chicken breast, or spinach and cheese ($5). The empanada mobile is always on the go, so keep an eye out for their location on Twitter. A standalone location already has a pop-up presence at the La Cosecha market in the Union Market district." - Aparna Krishnamoorthy
"Giuseppe and Mario Lanzone, the sibling duo behind D.C.’s popular Peruvian Brothers food truck, were born and raised off the coast of Lima. Their first brick-and-mortar location will feature an expanded selection of Peruvian-style sandwiches, empanadas, desserts, and hot sauces." - Tierney Plumb
