The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"Throwback dining experiences are becoming increasingly rare in Markham, but this steakhouse is still going strong since its founding in 1978. Much of a meal can happen tableside, from the tossing of the Caesar salad and carving of the chateaubriand to the tableside flambe of cherries jubilee and a tableside pour of Spanish coffee. It’s all posh and a bit kitschy but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. Plus, the 45-day-aged USDA Prime steaks can’t be beat. And dress nice — you wouldn’t want to disappoint grandpa. This retro-charm restaurant has been around since the 80s, serving up top-notch food, service, and ambiance. We celebrated our kid's birthday there and had the best fine dining experience! 🎄 It was a bonus that it was decked out for Christmas. Shoutout to Tom, one of the owners, who was super kind, and Nick, who took care of us with awesome service. Keep in mind, it's a bit pricier than other 7-course fine dining spots we've tried (think 360 CN Tower, French fine dining in Montreal, Italian, or cruises). Order wisely and skip the takeaway – you're paying for the experience 😊.

Been a loyal customer of Peter's for over 25+ years and there's good reason for that - they are consistently providing exceptional food, service and atmosphere. Steak, seafood are all A+ but the star is the Prime Rib and in my opinion the best in the GTA. Tableside Caesar salad is a must but if you're not feeling for it, go greens with their creamy garlic house dressing. Can't say enough about Peter's!

I can see why Peter’s has been around for so long. The first steak I have had out at a restaurant that I can say I was happy with. The service was great, all the staff were friendly, although maybe some inconsistent timing on approach but that is a minor problem, my waiter Peter was great created conversation but not too much which I appreciated. As for the space, some could say a bit dated but I liked it, really fits the atmosphere given the longevity of the restaurant. I look forward to coming back and enjoying the other offerings Peter’s has to give!

Great old school vibe at Peter’s Fine Dining. Greeted by Tom, Toula & Leo were fantastic servers. The cuisine was great and the prices are fair. Love the old school vibe of this place. Since 1978 for a reason. I Truly enjoyed it. Thank You Toula 🥂 ~ cheers - JayT - @JayTSandals on instagram & tik tok

Google
Excellent restaurant for a fine dining experience. The Caesar salad made fresh by your table, was quite scrumptious; Very fresh and flavourful. We also got the New York striploin steak and the jumbo Canadian sea scallops . The scallops came with a side of mash and we would have to say these are some of the most smoothest mash potatoes we have ever had . Felt like eating ice cream with the Perfect amount of seasoning. The steak and scallops were both delicious as well. Highly recommend.

Google
Had a wonderful experience at Peter’s Fine Dining. The restaurant has a very classic, old-school charm with rich solid wood finishes that really give off a warm 1980s vibe. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and professional. Although we were the youngest couple in the restaurant, we were treated with the same respect and attentiveness as every other guest, which really stood out. As for the food, the Caesar salad was absolutely amazing—fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed. The scallops were also very good, nicely cooked and full of flavour. Overall, a great dining experience. I would definitely recommend Peter’s to friends and family looking for a timeless, fine dining atmosphere with excellent service and food to match.

Google
I always thought food steak houses were downtown, but Peters was right up there. Great service and excellent food… the prime rib was absolutely mouth watering as well as their ribeye steaks. The table side Caesar salad is absolutely incredible and one of the best I’ve ever had!

Google
♡̷̷̷ Caesar Salad A really interesting tableside Caesar salad! They displayed all the ingredients before making it — and visibly poured a lot of olive oil (seriously, a lot 😂). Once the dressing was ready, they showed it to us before mixing everything together. The salad had a rich, bold flavor — very salty and savory. It might get a bit heavy by the end, but overall, it was a fun and unique Caesar salad experience that’s definitely worth trying once. When we were paying the bill, the server handed me a rose Not sure if they knew it was Chinese Valentine’s Day (Qixi), or if they always give flowers to female guests — but it was a sweet little surprise. I had only noted it was just a regular dinner when making the reservation, nothing special. The restaurant has a beautiful vintage vibe — really photogenic. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Loved it!

Yelp
November 9th, 2025 - Birthday Dinner for my two friends We ordered: Table Caesar salad x2 24oz Prime Rib Peter's Cut 50oz Tomahawk Steak Banana Foster x2 Highly recommended the Table Side Caesar Salad! We get it every time we go!
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Service was lovely, we ordered the side table Caesar salad, which was very well dressed. Then got the ribeye plus the New York steak and scallops. All of our steaks were under seasoned. We should have said something in retrospect but the meat was cooked well and tender. Even the mashed potato was under seasoned. Based on all the other reviews, perhaps we were just an outlier in seasoning. Will definitely mention something next time, if we go back.

Yelp
Family-owned restaurants that have been running for years always bring something unique to the experience over a chain restaurant. And if you're looking for a great prime rib/steak, traditional dining vibes, and welcoming servers with a sense of humour, I'd recommend this spot. The GOOD: - welcoming staff & atmosphere - steak & prime rib were seasoned & cooked perfectly! (Get the steak Diane if you like a bit of flair & showmanship with your dining experience) - although it is premium price, the portion sizes are excellent The "Could be Improved": - We were seated near the busier stair area, and unfortunately, staff who passed by kept on using one of our chair backs as a stabilizing tool, causing one of us to be jostled repeatedly throughout the night - Some areas didn't look like they had been cleaned/dusted in a while. We noticed a thick layer of dust and crumbs by the railings & on the lighting fixtures.

Yelp
Another perfect bday dinner for the books! Visited w/ my friends to celebrate a bday on a sat night. We booked a lil last min during the week so we weren't able to get a dining time around 6-7pm. The only time slot left was 8:30pm so we readily said yes to that. Our party ran 9 ppl deep (birthday boy just had a newborn with his wife as well but left her w/ grandma for the night). When we arrived, I was surprised to see a full house (it's usually a pretty lively atmosphere but not packed like this visit). We sat in the same spot as our previous visit haha. Exceptional service from George who was our server for this particular visit! Very funny, older, portly gentleman. Elias recognized me from the last 2 times I came with friends and said hi to all of us as we walked in (he was working the other side of the house on this night). They had a special apple bourbon crisp cocktail featured so some of us opted for that. LOVED IT. Super smooth, perfect aroma and SOOOOO TASTY. The steeped cinnamon stick was a nice touch. Made for some cool photos too. I think this drink beats out the whiskey sour and old fashioned that I tried on previous visits. What can I say about this place that I haven't previously said? The appetizer plate is already off the charts. I was impressed the very first time I tried the homemade garlic toast with sesame seeds (I feel like they rub actual garlic butter into the bread). You can tell the server to reheat/retoast them and add more to the basket all throughout the night. To readers out there: Please get that tableside caesar salad for 2. I haven't been able to eat caesar salad anywhere else now without silently comparing it to this one. THIS IS THE BENCHMARK AND HASN'T BEEN BEATEN. Whoever it is serving your table for that night will spend 10-15 mins making that salad dressing. A salad dressing that will blow your mind. It's got a ton of garlic, a bit of heat and it's definitely NOT low-calorie. But it's glorious. The portion size is also nice and big. My go-to order is the 24 oz wet aged bone-in ribeye. Perfectly charred crust, ALWAYS MEDIUM RARE JUST LIKE I ASK. I always tell the server to load up my baked potato w/ a ton of butter and sour cream. The bananas foster is also a tableside show if you are craving dessert. Our whole table decided to partake so Elias came over to help George make some. Be sure to eat it quick as the ice cream melts quite fast! As usual, Tom always comes around w/ roses for the ladies to end the night for that extra magical touch. This is a place my friends and I always tip generously at because the staff never say no to you and everything is done with a big smile. My glass of water never dipped below halfway before being filled to the top! I've always had this place in my top 3 restos in the GTA. I actually think price aside, the service and food quality warrants a top ranking for me. It might actually be my fave resto (yea, #1 top dog) considering every visit has been spectacular. P.S. Speaking of price, they've raised the prices slightly again since our last visit (sad face).

Yelp
If you're looking for a classic dinner experience then Peter will deliver. Mature & professional waite staff, table side preparation such a treat. Started with great selection of cocktails, then the Jumbo-Jumbo shrimp, followed by classic Cesare Salad prepared table side. (Don't sweat the anchovies). Then a filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, perfectly cooked, well balanced sauce not overpowering. Finally the Cherry Jubilee table side on ice cream. All parts of the meal were on point, pleasant staff in a tradition steakhouse ambiance. Can't wait for another occasion to return.

Yelp
Two thumbs up! Just to try their deserts is already worth the visit! Their steaks are the best among the steak houses we tried in Toronto and Melbourne. Their services are superb and are very attentive! We have reactions on even slight MSGs but it seems that this restaurant has No MSGs added on their food. This restaurant lets you feel that you are sitting in a cozy home and enjoying their food.

Yelp
PETER's FINE DINING . . My fiancé and I celebrated Christmas early with a romantic dinner at Peters Fine Dining, an old school steakhouse located in Markham. They have an extensive wine list, a variety of steak cuts and prime rib, as well as seafood and appetizers. Shortly after we sat down, we were served some hot buttery bread which was to die for. The whole restaurant was decked out in Christmas decor which I loved. . . Escargots Bourguignon 2.5/5 We found this lacking in flavour and presentation. Steak Dianne 4.7/5 Absolutely delicious! Two beef tenderloin steaks cooked table side with garlic, mushroom and green onion, finished in a Brandy wine reduction. The sauce was mouth watering good and was a perfect pairing with the mashed potatoes. Prime rib (14oz) 4.5/5 The cook and texture were perfect. . . Overall we had an amazing first experience here! I loved the atmosphere, service was attentive the food was delicious. All ladies also get a lovely rose at the end which is a fantastic way to end a romantic date night!

Yelp
Went here for a celebration and the ambiance was perfect. The scene was set for the late 1970s and the decor was old school and tasteful. We ordered a ton for our table of 12, so here were some of the highlights. Apps: 1. Escargot: buttery and very buttery might I add, but a good garlic flavor. 2. Smoked Salmon, delish, but no accompaniments besides some onions, tried it with garlic bread- pretty good. 3. Oysters on the Half Shell- fresh with the slightest bit of ocean taste. A lot of saltwater left on it. Salads: 1. Greek Salad: i loved the dressing, but there were a ton of onions and I should've opted for no olives. 2. Cesar Salad: prepared tableside. It was such a cute show, but the taste was delectable. However a bit salty. Soups: 1. French Onion soup: came out piping hot with the best cheese pull. I loved the onions however it was a bit over-salted. Entrees: 1. Prime Ribs: i love the fattiness in this, but the trims were good cuts. 2. Filet Mignon- the bacon was good, but a bot chewy- meat was ok 3. Salmon- good flavor, nice and flakey- but maybe a bit dry. 4. Stuffed Sole: this was lacking flavor- no salt and honestly a downfall. 5. Ribs: full rack was delish and with a side of rice was good. 6. Seafood Platter for 2: honestly made for 4 people- stuft with a ton of seafood and their own butter melting. Overall this place had a great array and ended with beautiful roses at the end for all females. Definitely on the pricey side, but good for the Occassion

Yelp
I was pregnant and craved nice prime rib so I called Peter's and made reservations. He asked if there were children and asked what age and I answered him 6 and he said that we just made the cut because they do not accept children under that age. We proceeded to the restaurant and went inside. My daughter was curiously looking at the displays in the front as I told them we have reservations. The owner looked around the corner at my daughter and said that they could not seat us. I was confused at first and wasn't sure what he meant. He then continued to say they could not accept us because of my daughter and said "look at her". He said some children are very well behaved and continued to insult my child in front of her. All she was doing was looking around in the front. He said his restaurant was for fine dining and not for children like her. I have no problem with a restaurant not accepting children and enjoy a nice quiet meal without them sometimes, but don't say you accept and refuse at the door. If you are so concerned about how children behave then don't say you accept them in the first place as he confirmed the reservation on the phone. Children are naturally curious and will look around at interesting things. She was not behaving badly in any way. I was pregnant and hungry and my reservations that were confirmed were refused at the door. In addition he insulted my child in front of her. Now each time we drive by the restaurant my daughter always remembers that the man there didn't let us in.

Yelp
Amazing little restaurant on Highway 7, I've been here a few times and the service and steaks here are simply excellent! The ambiance is great, feels very homie and warm, servers are all very friendly and polite The Peters cut is my favourite steak here, it's 24 oz! Very juicy and flavourful, highly recommend the Peters cut along with their Caesar salad. Came here on my birthday and they gave our party chocolate cake and roses for us to take home, high recommend

Yelp
A very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. Both the food and service are excellent, especially Benny's service. It feels like home. The ladies all received flowers. Thank you for your arrangement.

Yelp
Food, service and Ambiance,All three things were impressive. Reminded me of old Gatsby's Fine Dinning on Church st, my all time favorite restaurant.

Yelp
My boyfriend swears by their steak so we thought what better place to celebrate his birthday. We ordered a couple dishes to share between 4 people: * Classic Caesar Salad $39 * Escargots Bourguignon $16 * 16 oz. Ribeye Steak $66 * Regular Cut (14 oz.) Peter's Famous Prime Rib $60 * Accompaniments: Fresh Mushroom Caps $15 and Thick Onion Rings w Cajun Sauce $14 Peter's Fine Dining is a culinary gem that provides an exceptional dining experience from the moment you step in the door. The ambiance is the perfect blend of elegance and sophistication that maintains a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff at Peter's Fine Dining are top-notch and provide unparalleled service. They are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable - ready with recommendations. But the real star of Peter's Fine Dining is undoubtedly the food. The menu is carefully curated, offering a wide variety of appetizers, soups, salads, steaks, seafood, and more. The presentation is impeccable, with each dish artfully plated. They're both delicious and visually stunning. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a more luxurious dining experience, Peter's Fine Dining is a great choice. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Awesome taste! Yeah, I really enjoyed myself. The food was better than expected, but for the price, it better be good! Very friendly staff, and they're Greek, so that was a bonus! Nice rustic feel. 4/5

Yelp
A cozy homey steakhouse filled with warm décor and kiss memorabilia. It's an expensive meal for a special occasion. Caesar Salad - Must get! They do it tableside, so it's a show and its tasty! Crunchy croutons, creamy, cheesy, lemony all combined together with some crunchy romaine lettuce! French Onion Soup - overly salty. Hints of red wine + cheesy ness, but would not recommend Bacon wrapped Scallops - Bacon was overcooked and not crispy, but the scallops were cooked nicely. The cream sauce that it came with was too salty, but can be someone balanced with the accompanied lemon. Would also steer away from this. Sole fish - Almandine crust was good, added a nutty sweetness to the fish. Fish itself was disappointing would not recommend getting the sole fish as it was rather lacking in flavour. Vegetables that came along with the fish was nice, lightly seasoned with butter was a nice touch. Tomahawk steak - A tough steak to cook, but it was cooked well at medium rare. Opposite to the previous dishes, I wished the steak was seasoned a bit more. It came with a gravy and bearnaise sauce where I preferred neither of them. Gravy was not seasoned well, and bearnaise sauce was too much like a horseradish. Might go for a ribeye cooked rare next time, more meat. Crème Brulee - A rather unique take with a nice custard at the bottom and rough torched sugar at the top. The roughness gives it an interesting texture, but I still prefer the flat smooth surface. Would try some other desserts instead. Cherry jubilee ice cream - Flambéed table side for a good show. The syrup was heavy with alcohol, but when eaten with ice cream, it was delicious. My only gripe with this was that the ice cream was too melt by the time the desert was prepared, not to mentioned the burning liquid was being poured onto the ice cream. Looking forward to try the other tableside prepared dessert.

Yelp
I'm a steak snob. I travel around the world eating steaks. This place is very solid and will be a part of my Toronto rotation. Had the oysters rockerfeller (pass on these, too heavy and not that great. Although big), tableside Cesar salad (excellent and big portion), and medium rare bone in ribeye (perfectly cooked with an excellent sear. Good thing is the has great edge to edge doneness with very little grey zone). The free Gaelic bread was ample and delicious. Pickles and olives were nice. One tip, if you share a steak they do charge a $10 sharing fee. These guys know what they are doing. Bravo.

Yelp
Food: 8.2 Service: 8.3 Ambience:8.5

Yelp
TO DIE FOR! Tom was the hostess with the mostest. We took my brother-in-law and sister-in-law here for dinner. The decor was fantastic especially since we are all Kiss fans - right down to Tom's car which was gifted to him from Gene Simmons. Tom is definitely interesting and has had a 40+ year friendship with Gene. (doesn't hurt that he looks a lot like him too). The Ceasar salad was prepared table side, my mouth waters every time I think about it the garlic and flavour ,,, yum! My husband and I ordered Chateaubriand for 2, my brother-in-law got the steak Dianne - also cooked tableside. My sister-in-law ordered the Greek salad... all I can say is everything was to perfection... the boys ordered specialty coffee afterwards which was also done tableside. What a perfect night with some of the most talented staff friendly and welcoming, a definite go to spot for our future.

Yelp
4.5/5 Friends from abroad were visiting so we had something special for a Saturday night. As always, service was great although the server served a side dish wrongly, it's quickly fixed as the server gave the correct side dish on complimentary basis. Caeser salad dressing was made fresh in front of us and it's delicious. The lamb chops were cooked just right and very tasty! Other dishes were equally great! All ladies always got a rose when leaving the restaurant. This is always the place for special celebrations!

Yelp
Had a good experience dining here. Each person had to order at least one main menu item or there is a surcharge of $10 per person. The food was good and the portion sizes were generous. Prices are definitely on the higher end. Service was also good, all the staff were very friendly. The restaurants vibe was very nice and the interior was like eating in a redesigned house.

Yelp
Just because you aren't my server doesn't mean you don't wear a mask when you're talking to me. We're in a pandemic and I'm trying to help your business. Absolutely disgusting. Why was the table littered with black bits strewn across the tablecloth? If I say it's dirty and point to the evidence, the only acceptable answer is to apologize and either clean the table, or get me to a new table. What's with the attitude? My friend asked about why he didn't wear a mask and then he said to leave if we're unhappy? You can bet that's exactly what I did. I don't care if the food is made by chef Ramsay, that attitude reeks.

Ana D.

Yelp
Superb service only exceeded by the absolutely delicious food. We drive nearly an hour (we live in the States and are visiting family). It would be worth it if we drove two hours to get here.

Yelp
This is a good place for group dining. They have great options for up to 30 ppl in a private dining great. The Caesar salad is really good and so is the prime rib. The service is great.

Yelp
Peter's was my favourite spot for a juicy, well-cooked steak minus the heavy price tag. I went out on Friday, January 20th 2023, with two of my very good friends, and everything went great until it was time to settle the bill. When the last of us were paying their cheque, they rounded up their credit card payment to the nearest $10 (with all intentions to leave a cash tip). When looking at the credit card receipt, the gentleman said, "you tipped 5%, not even 5%." SUCH POOR TASTE from a senior person in the service industry. Unbelievable. We've dined there countless times! We have recommended this place to friends and colleagues as well. We aren't young children, so I'm not sure why he insulted us that way. I'm hoping it was not a racial reason, but whatever his motivation, it did not feel good. I'm not sure about my other two friends, but I will not be going back. Very unfortunate because I liked the cozy lil' steakhouse. #onebadapple

Yelp
Terrible experience! I walked in to see if there's any availability for us to dine in the restaurant with a service dog. The older man who had long dark hair approached me with a very rude mannerism and asked if I was blind? I asked what he meant and he kept on repeating himself if I was blind and what type of disabilities I had. I told him that he was discriminating and rude. He then decided to welcome us which we decided to not give them any business. I suggest disabled people to think twice before even thinking of dining at this restaurant.

Yelp
My first time going to Peter's fine dining.  It is a traditional steakhouse with no modern decor. We ordered escargot and crab cake for appetizers.  Crab cake is surprisingly delicious.  For the main course, we ordered 8oz mignon, grilled garlic scallop and sirloin steak with fries.  Although it is a steakhouse, but the scallop really really stands out.  The size of the scallop is huge and it is truely very fresh.  The mignon steak is very tender.  However, the sirloin is a bit dry.  Probably the best way to order the steaks in this restaurant is medium rare.  Finally we had the chocolate cake and cream brulee.  I personally do not like chocolate that much, but this cake is amazing.  I almost need to order another one!  An elegant steakhouse in Markham area, and i will be returning for more scallop and mignon.

Yelp
"Sir, to properly wear a mask, you must make sure that it actually COVERS not just your mouth, but also your nose!" This review is based on my takeout experience during COVID-19. I have three main issues with my experience: 1) My own health and safety: The greeter at the entrance of the restaurant had his ENTIRE nose sticking out above his mask. In fact, he did not even bother adjusting his mask properly even though he had a customer in front of him. If this is his attitude, I am scared for the customers who are dining in. I DO NOT feel safe. 2) Cost: I know I will be spending an arm and a leg for fine dining and my wallet is prepared for that. Plus, my daddy requested this for his birthday meal, and as a doting daughter, I happily obliged. HOWEVER, what I DO NOT appreciate is when I order takeout, that the TIP is ALREADY added to the card machine and all I'm asked to do is just, "Tap it!" THAT AIN'T COOL MISTER! Let me tell you... THIS IS FRAUD, I repeat again, FRAUD because I did NOT agree to that amount, someone else did it on my behalf. 3) Quality of food: This is not my first time ordering takeout from Peter's. I ordered it a few month ago for Father's Day. This time, I am super disappointed with how the 24oz prime rib, it was pretty well done, SUCH a waste! As well, if you compare photos from my first takeout and the second takeout, you will definitely notice that the quantity is less. Spending $85+ on my dad is 100% worth it, but MOST DEFINITELY NOT at Peter's Fine Dining. Because of safety, cost, and quality of food, I WILL NOT be returning. In fact, I DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
Canadian traditional prestige restaurant. Very friendly service and elegant. Little house with classic interior. Gourmet cooking. I like the prime rib better, even their famous is ribeye steak, I ordered medium rare, it came like medium. But both tasty. Their Caesar salad a thumbs up dish they prepare both salad and dessert in front of you, very polite and happy to explain the ingredients and cooking methods to customers. Pretty enjoyable dinner. Not fancy but prestige. Recommended! $$$ worth the money

Yelp
I drive by this place almost every day and we decided to celebrate a large milestone with my family here. Glad I checked their website before going since I tend like to like wear a hat wherever I go (FYI no sandals, no hats, no shorts). It's a very cozy old school fine dining atmosphere -reminds me of the classic steak houses like Keen's and Golden Steer. Our server (younger gentleman with slicked back hair) was very friendly and attentive -funny too. The whole staff was actually very friendly -from the Host to even the other staff that helped bring food out and clear dishes. We started with the table side Caesar salad which was so fresh and amazing -I'd even come here just for that alone but maybe next time ask for a bit less garlic (which they mash fresh to start the dressing). When making the dressing, our server was very engaging with my Mother who wanted to photograph and learn the process. We were also provided complimentary olives, pickles and garlic bread (nicely toasted with fresh garlic). For the main course we all had the prime rib (great cuts, cooked perfectly with a nice jus) -most had the veggies which were fresh and perfectly cooked. One had mashed potatoes which they really liked; I had the fries that came a bit after my prime rib but worth the wait -thick cut and just crisp enough. We didn't get dessert (we were so full) but I was provided a free slice of cake to celebrate the milestone which I think was a tiramisu cake (made in-house) -very light and not too sweet but I do prefer a bit creamier tiramisu (I'm prob just used to grocery chain tiramisu lol). Overall it was a great night and I'll definitely be adding this place to my regular cheat day rotation since I wanted to try almost every item on the menu. I have an insane sweet tooth and their desserts made in-house may have to be in the regular take out rotation lol.

Yelp
Peter's is a nice steakhouse in Markham. Inside, it is dimly lit and intimate. The decor is old school but elegant. The waiters are well dressed and very polite. Please be advised that there is a dress code. We were promptly seated, and provided complimentary garlic bread, olives, and pickles. We ordered the escargot, bacon wrapped scallops, and raw oysters. The escargot was good, but bit salty. The scallops were perfectly cooked and probably my favourite appetizer. The oysters were just ok and it didn't look like they shucked them very well. One of them had a small piece of shell inside. For my main, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon, which came with a side of mashed potatoes (other options include baked potatoes or fries). The filet mignon was wrapped in bacon and literally cooked to perfection. I had it rare, and it was so juicy and tender. The service was absolutely excellent. And I found the prices to be reasonable. On my way out, the host gave me a rose, which I thought was a very nice gesture.

Yelp
Flambé steak, flambé dessert and even flambé coffee; maybe it's the pyromaniac in me, but I was drawn to Peter's Fine Dining. Hubby and I came on a Tuesday for lunch, without reservations. The friendly host, who happens to be one of the co-owners, checked in my hubby's coat and led the two of us to a cozy booth for four. The dining area was softly lit, decorated in warm wood tones with linen tablecloths, and piano music quietly playing in the background. Noticed all the diners were well dressed and even the waiters were wearing suits and bow ties. It was the host who introduced us to our waiter by name. Our waiter lit the candle at our table and served us water and complimentary garlic bread with olives and pickles to start off with. WE ORDERED - USDA Prime Junior Peppercorn Steak flambéed tableside. Subbed side with a salad. The steak was juicy and flavorful. - Atlantic salmon with baked potato - Salmon was cooked perfectly but needed more seasoning. - Chocolate Truffle Cake with Belgian chocolate truffle with chocolate glaze. The base is a moist cake layer, OH SO DELISH! What made me happier was that it was complimentary; happy birthday to me! Service was impeccable: well mannered, polite, attentive but not intrusive. One the way out I happened to inquire about the picture of the rock group Kiss that I saw by the washroom. The co-owner said that he was a friend of theirs and they come by the restaurant once in a while, VERY COOL! Before we left he handed me a beautiful bi-colored rose SWEET! Do yourself a favor, leave the kids at home, get all dolled up and take your spouse out for a well deserved romantic date.

Yelp
Came here for a work event. For starters, it's a popular spot that gets busy quickly so parking was tight here and we ended up having to park in the plaza across the street. It was a Wednesday evening so I can only imagine a Saturday night. Staff and service were pleasant enough albeit a bit gruff. Staff appeared to be mostly older men. Our appetizers were the spring rolls, cheese balls and fried scallops. Nothing to write home about. It was fine 3/5. My dining partner chose the Ceasar salad, steak and finished with the chocolate cake. All were 3/5. Mind you the steak is MASSIVE and he could not finish it but the flavour was just simple. Not a show stopper. Ceasar and cake were typical fair. I had the asparagus soup, salmon and cheesecake. The soup was very tasty, seasoned well and probably my fav part of the meal 4/5. The only thing I'd change were the soggy bits of asparagus. They should just blanch the vegetable. The salmon was just ok and slightly on the dry side. 3/5. Also needed more salt. The cheesecake was fine but I didn't finish it. However I will say the overall portions are huge here 5/5 so you will certainly leave stuffed. Overall, we had a nice evening and the party room is a very nice space for events but the meal was honestly forgettable and flavour lacking for the price.

Yelp
If you like garlic and wonderful service, this is the place for you! My family went here for my sister's 30th birthday and between the tasty food and attentive tableside service, we were delighted. We started with the Caesar salad prepared tableside as well as with French onion soups and lobster bisque. My family who got the bisque loved it. As for my French onion soup, it was good as most are but it wasnt the best I've ever had. The Caesar salad was loaded with garlic and it was so creamy and delicious. Plus, having it made to our tastes tableside makes it all the tastier. For main courses, I had steak diane made tableside and my brother-in-law had the peppercorn steak made tableside. Mine was good though it smelled better, imo, before the brandy was added. Personally I preferred my mom's dish which was the blue cheese encrusted filet with fig reduction which was amazing. My sister went with the prime rib and my brother got lamb. Everyone left happy. Dessert was bananas foster made tableside. It was good but if I went back again, I would probably try something else like the cherries jubilee or the creme brulee. The atmosphere is an old fashioned steakhouse. This isnt the trendiest place. No instagram moments here and none of the food is innovative or new. But it's a solid steakhouse with good food and great service and there is something to be said for sticking to the basics and doing it extremely well.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday and I couldn't help to compare it with the Octagon steak house which I went to last year for my birthday. We ordered the table side Caesar salad and prime rib just like last year. Caster salad, the Octagon did it better but it was still fresh and delicious. However for the prime rib,we like Peter's more. I got medium rare and the meat melts in your mouth...just soo good. They only have 16 or 24 oz. Prime ribs so we got 16oz.i struggled to finish a 16oz. but it was so good, it's not the kinda struggle that you want to give it up. They also got me a slice of chocolate cake and a rose for my birthday. We're not usually fans of chocolate cakes but we devoured this one. It was not sweet at all and satisfies the appetite for dessert. In terms of the atmosphere,it was similar to the Octagon but because the restaurant is so much smaller the servers were walking around a lot by our table and sometimes in the way of each there which I thought was a little disturbing, just a little. I have to mention though, their front door area is very well decorated with Christmas and winter decor and scents..it smells so good I didn't want to go out into the winter storm. We're planning to come back next time and try their table-side cooking of the fillet mignon!looked and smelled amazing!

Yelp
I came here for my parents' wedding anniversary. My brother and I thought we'd treat them to a nicer meal for once. First off the service is great here. They took our coats and took us to our table. We told them we'd like to share everything and the servers were quite accommodating and helped arrange things so that we could do that more easily. We ordered a few apps to share and a few larger mains. The highlights for me was the Prime Rib and the Tomahawk steak. Both were huge. The Prime Rib had to be about 2.5 inches thick. The Tomahawk came cut up on a platter with two sauces. The meal was meaty and it was delicious. Stuffed myself to the brim. And at the end of the night, they presented each lady with a rose. Classy and left an impression. The price is on the high end, but I thought it was worth it for the special occasion.

Yelp
We ordered the Ceasar salad, the stuffed cod, and the porterhouse. The Ceasar salad is very filling as it has a lot of olive oil in it. It still tasted very good though The porterhouse was amazing - so tender! The stuffed cod and the mash potatoes were delightful as well. Loved the thick garlic bread and plumb olives that come complimentary. It's so nice that they also offer all the ladies a rose at the end of the night

Yelp
Came here on a weekday in December and it's still very busy. This place is not big so make sure you make reservation ahead. I really like their crab cake and Cesar salad. Our server was mixing the Cesar dressing in front of us which he did took a bit of time putting the ingredients together and such. Not sure if it's because we have a larger group so they were preparing it that way. Anyways, really like the appetizers. Main course, we have bone-in ribeye and porterhouse. Both done really well; meat are juicy and tender. At last, I tried the chocolate truffles cake and it was rich in chocolate and moist with the cake. Really like it. I also asked to added a scope of icecream to balance the chocolate bitter with icecream sweetness.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favourite places for a good piece of steak. While being on the higher prices, I think each steak is made with care and cooked to ensure that it satisfies the customer. I recommend the prime rib as the few times I had it they do cook it well and a good medium rare. That being said, my highly recommended dish is their made to order and tableside Caesar salad. This is something you must order. Its minimum for 2 people, and a little more expensive being a caesar salad, but because they make it right there in front of you, it's definitely worth every penny. I also had the fish before which was good but I would prefer the steak. Their oysters are also good, but i would go for the regular (non cooked toppings) rather than the Rockefeller one. My favourite dessert is actually only available in the fall: their pumpkin pie. Perfect buttery crust with the right amount of spices in their pumpkin pie filling. While I only had this once, I crave for it every time and is what actually made me fall in love with pumpkin pie. Staff are friendly and if you are female they give you a rose every visit. Love the cute gesture.

Yelp
Food was pretty much as expected. Old school steakhouse. Not much changed in 20 years which is both good and bad. Very nostalgic. The main issue is the maître de (??owner) never put on a mask the whole evening despite seating people and checking on them during dinner and even posing for pics with one group. Waiters were all masked and noses were usually but not always covered. Also guests who came in without mask were walking through the restaurant and to washrooms without masks. If you are at all concerned with Covid protocols and safety, maybe give this place a pass. Should have left when we arrived and saw him unmasked but it didn't really dawn on me til we were seated and my wife commented.

Yelp
The owner is obviously very proud of and passionate for his restaurant and I hope he reads the amazing reviews and sees what a fantastic establishment he's built and maintained. At the end of the night, he even came around to check on our meals, and hand us a fresh stem of a flower. Absolutely charming gentleman. Honestly, coming in here is like an escape from the harsher, impatient culture we're surrounded by on a daily basis. In this restaurant, you're greeted by attention to detail, passion for the finer services, amazing food, and a reminder to stop time for a moment and just enjoy. I hope this place stays forever like one of those "It's been here since the beginning" type of places with a bit of history and something extraordinary. It's a restaurant just off the side of Highway 7 and when you walk in, you immediately are greeted by either the owner, or a charming gentleman/lady staff. It reminds me of an older style steak house where you go with a small party to just enjoy some food, have a sip of wine, and enjoy a quiet nice in good company. The food was absolutely delicious. If you're a big ceasar salad fan like myself, you're going to want to get that off the menu first. It'll be served table side and you can watch them build the sauce from scratch. It's so good I would actually just go there for salad if they wouldn't judge me haha! The servers here are mostly older gentlemen who seem very happy and proud of the level of service they offer. And they should be! Absolutely charming staff. He was putting on quite a show when he saw how intrigued we all were with the salad building process. I could only wish every ceaser salad I ever had moving forward was done this way. Ok but seriously, the food. I had French Onion Soup. DELICIOUS! not too salty, very brothy, very full and flavourful. And I got the lamb which I expected a few chops, but it's the half the rack so it's actually quite a hefty portion. We also had a seafood platter and steaks ordered at the table. Everything cooked exactly to perfection. Steaks cooked exactly they temperature asked for and the scallops were like BUTTER. At the end of the night, I let the server know that we were celebrating a birthday and I would like to order a slice of cake if they had a dessert menu. Within two minutes, he brought over a complimentary slice decorated with a birthday message for my dad. And he just winked and let me know it's complimentary on him. I thought that was the most thoughtful thing that they're so quick to help you celebrate and end the night perfectly. Could I rave anymore about it?... probably. :) Or you can just quit reading and go try it out!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The food was cooked perfectly and very well portioned. I had the prime rib. They have 3 sizes to choose from, ladies cut, regular and large. I got the regular size which was perfect. Hubby had the Kansas city strip loin. Meat was so tender and full of flavour. The place is so romantic. Perfect for a nice night out, a date, or perfect night with friends. They don't allow children, so adults-only restaurant. The staff are very professional and proper. Excellent hospitality. Conveniently located on Highway 7 close to Markham Main Street. Parking is in the back. If you want to support local business, this is one stop that should be supported. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
If I could add a meme to a Yelp review, I would insert the "So close" Freddy Mercury meme to this restaurant since it hit 5 stars in so many ways, but missed the mark in one area which I will describe later. The outside of Peter's is fairly humble. It has a bit of charm that way, but on the other hand, if they are fine dinning (which they are), they should spruce the place up a little. Not really a critical issue however. The inside is well-kept, but a little dated too. Again, it does add to the charm of it a bit. From the time my wife and I were greeted, right until we left about 2+ hours later, we experienced some of the best service we've ever had. Very friendly, extremely attentive, and you're treated like royalty. At one point, we both went to the washroom and returned to find our side plates replaced with new ones and given newly folded napkins. Towards the end of the night, they even offered to move us to a more elevated table as it became available, though we had never indicated concerns beforehand. We had to try the made-from-scratch caesar salad. It isn't a mere novelty, as a dressing is made from egg, vinegars, anchovies, garlic and a couple other ingredients done right in front of you. It's actually fairly good value since it was 10-15 minutes of labour and was a large portion for 2. If you like your caesar dressing strong (i.e. garlic), you've reached caesar salad heaven. My wife wanted the ribs appetizer, and though I wasn't too excited about the thought initially, I was very surprised at how good they were. Absolutely perfect in the texture, cooking time and taste. My wife went for the steak and lobster. They knocked it out of the park with both, with the lobster standing out particularly. It had to be the meatiest lobster tail I'd ever seen. I went with their prime rib, which I had heard they were famous for. The piece they gave me was massive, and certainly far bigger than the advertised weight. I'd have to say however that as I was eating it, I did have a mild sense of disappointment as it wasn't as flavourful as I would've hoped. It was perfectly enjoyable, but the fact that I had a little bit of buyer's remorse and wished I had ordered a steak did bring the experience (and this rating) down a little bit. We were given a free piece cake, as they knew we were celebrating a birthday since they asked when I made reservations. They also gave my wife (and other female patrons) a free rose too. I'm still dying to come back and would recommend the place wholeheartedly. Normally I can round up if just one thing is slightly off, but when it's a steakhouse, the review has to be centred around the steak.

Yelp
Peter's fine dining has been around for a long time, the decor, ambiance and staff reflects this, not in a bad way, just don't expect anything modern. Their steaks, particularly the prime rib, is done well and very enjoyable.

Yelp
What a darling restaurant! I drive by this restaurant often and never tried it before now. It's a smaller restaurant and the inside does not match the outside. Classic example of don't judge a book by it's cover. Interior decor is very elegant and classy with added character. There are KISS posters and pictures which I thought was charming haha. All the servers are sweet and happy. Since I came for my birthday they gave me a rose! Food was cooked well, not like the keg where if you want medium rare you need to order the steak rare. You can actually order medium rare and get medium rare! We ordered the scallop wrapped bacon which was cooked perfectly. Bacon was cooked perfectly and not too oily that it became damp. Escargot was also cooked well. The dinner comes with garlic bread so I dipped it with the extra escargot butter because I'm unhealthy like that lol. Overall a fantastic restaurant with great food and service. You don't need to travel all the way to Toronto for fine dining!
