Great food, great service. The water with a lemon slice was a nice touch. Ask for Mitch he'll really take care of you. Didn't have the stomach for the pancake roll. Nice music. We'll have to come back. But, the bathroom floors need cleaning.

When we lived in Ventura, we went to Pete's just about every weekend. And for good reason - Pete's is just about the perfect breakfast diner. The menu is large, from baked goods and pancakes to eggs and bacon, along with Mexican food, everything is homemade and delicious. The coffee is great too. The staff are all so friendly, the interior is cozy, it's just so happy at Pete's. It's awesome. Just be prepared to wait a little bit almost any time you go, because this is where locals eat. Because it's awesome. Pro tip: try the habanero salsa!

Consistently good food at a fair price! This is your classic breakfast place that you've known for years and you keep going back because you know you are going to get a great meal. You can also bring your dog and sit on the patio! Awesome!

Google
This is ALWAYS our stop going towards LA, CA. If there’s a line out front it’s worth the wait! They are quick and get you in and out. The food is fantastic.

Google
Don’t let the amount of people waiting for tables deter you. Turnaround is quick and we were seated within 15 minutes from our 2 visits. Service is great and fast, and food also comes out super fast! This is one of those restaurants you just want to try everything on the menu. Everything we ordered is delicious and portion is plenty to indulge or share. I ordered the pancake roll the first visit because why not? Portion looks overwhelming but it’s manageable as the pancake is light and fluffy, and the granola is just incredibly delicious!! This looks like a favorite local joint and we will definitely visit again when we are in town again!

Google
Had a very good eggs, sausage, bacon and potato breakfast some sourdough toast with jam for desert nice way to start the day. I did get tricked by the parking lot sign on and older building. Pete's is right beside the paring lot. Appreciate the free parking!!!

Google
My first time here, it was amazing. The Great Greek omelette and potato’s are delicious. Got a short stack of fluffy and tasty pancakes. Server was also very helpful. Totally recommend coming here for breakfast!

Google
My husband and I ate at Pete's based on a friend's recommendation and the food and service were amazing. I had their avocado toast with fruit and my husband had pancakes. He says that those were the best pancakes he has ever had, and that is high praise considering that we have visited quite a few pancake restaurants. We ordered a side of potatoes which were crispy and seasoned to perfection. At the end of the meal, we had cleared our plates! We definitely would recommend this place and will definitely eat here again when we visit Ventura. The restaurant had a very soothing vibe and has a patio that is pet-friendly.

Yelp
I am so happy I found this place (thank you Yelp!). We found street parking and walked in. They had plenty of seating outside so we sat there. We immediately got water and coffee and then our waitress came to take our order. She was very sweet with answering our questions and I decided on the eggs Benedict that was on the specials and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. The food was delicious. Everything was hot and flavorful and delicious. The potatoes were amazing and my eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly. I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area.

Pamela M.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Our server was very attentive even with a full house of customers. Fair prices and a variety of food on the menu that pleased everyone at our table. It is a great hole in the wall cafe and breakfast was excellent now I'm looking forward to coming for lunch next week.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Breakfast diners are the best! Pete's is solid old school Ventura breakfast choice. Took my toddlers for a breakfast at Pete's on a busy Friday morning. We ate on their side patio. Service was great and they were on it with coffee refills. The kid's blueberry pancake and the potatoes were the best items we ordered. Definitely get the potatoes, crispy and well seasoned. I also appreciated that the fruit was fresh and not just a bunch of melon. Will return when in the area and craving a traditional breakfast.

Suhani P.

Yelp
Very busy and popular breakfast spot! Be prepared to wait because they get really busy on weekends. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, with plenty of shade outdoors. Our server was so sweet and checked on us often! Our food came out fairly quickly. We thought our food was just ok. Though it might have just been what we ordered. I found my chorizo scramble, potatoes, and refried beans to be pretty bland. The biscuits were SO good; don't miss out on those! Their portions are very generous and prices are very reasonable. We'd return but probably try some different options.

Jay H.

Yelp
THEE. BEST. HASH. I've had in a LONG time!!!! They mix it a little with some hash brown and actually seasoned it with idk what but it was AMAZING! I went late in the morning for a to go order and it was PACKED! People waiting outside packed. A local started that it's like that EVERY weekend so to me, that was a good sign. I ordered the pancake roll & two French toast combos not pictured and all was amazing but hands down - the hash takes the cake. Either way, not my last time coming here. Super good and recommended.

Yelp
Pete's Breakfast House is a classic breakfast and lunch restaurant. It offers delicious, fresh food made with high-quality ingredients. There is a wide variety of food on the menu, including American breakfast and Mexican food. Sandwiches and pancakes are also available. We came to this restaurant by recommendation from my husband's parents. We noticed that our favorite TV food show Guy Fieri's photo was hanging on the wall. I liked the pancake roll the best and I highly recommend it.

Anastacia M.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service! This place is always packed so be prepared to wait but it's worth it! Must get the home made biscuits with fresh butter! My friend liked her breakfast sandwich and I loved my Greek omelette. They keep your coffee filled too. Great place great staff!!

Amit S.

Yelp
The food was good we tried the breakfast oatrolled pancakes and it was delicious. I packed it on our way to the channel island and had fun! The service is quick and nice. Couldn't experience the ambience but it looked good. I would definitely visit and have a coffee and breakfast here next time. Highly recommend.

Dong Wook C.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Great breakfast spot. Not too pricey. Wait staff are friendly and kind. Good selection of breakfast items (various omelettes, burritos, pancake combos). Dog friendly patio. Lots of outdoor seating with umbrellas and wind blockage. Indoor seating is available as well. Street parking.

Christina H.

Yelp
Being a visitor in town, I could easily tell Pete's is a beloved local favorite. Just from hearing the conversations around me, waitresses would greet returning patrons and ask if they would like their usual order. I found it endearing. Pete's serves breakfast and lunch, with an all day breakfast menu. If you're looking at the menu, it is quite daunting as there are so many options. However, here's a trick: it's essentially all the same thing: eggs with whatever your heart desires, excluding the pancakes/waffles. I wanted the Biscuit Plate, as I was really wanting some gravy. However, this dish does not come with potatoes. When the waitress took my order, she heavily suggested the Ham, Bacon, &/or Sausage Omelette, as this dish was essentially the same thing, but the eggs and protein are in omelette form and comes with gravy and potatoes. I was sold. Pete's is far from gourmet. You won't find high quality ingredients, unique flavors, or dishes plated in artful formation. However, you will find kind smiles and simple tastes that feel like home.

Yelp
Food: 2 stars atmosphere: 3 stars coffee: 0 stars value: 2 stars Service: 4 stars Cleanliness: Restaurant - 3 stars, bathroom - 1 star I don't enjoy giving out bad reviews, especially when the servers and workers are nice but we were really surprised by some of the really bad decisions they make with the food prep as well as the condition of the bathrooms. let's start with the food. We ordered two coffees, huevos rancheros with a side order of sausage and the chipotle chicken sandwich with a side salad. The coffee was funky! it tasted like we were drinking stale buildup of coffee makers that hadn't been cleaned in years. Our hotel coffee was much better which was shocking. The huevos rancheros were the worst part or our meal. the eggs were covered in a nasty canned tomato salsa and topped with processed shredded cheese. why not make fresh pico de gallo or salsa instead of the horrible canned stuff? you've got 3-4 latino cooks back there who can probably make great salsa/pico de gallo. Same goes for the refried beans that came out of a can. My partner (from Mexico) was very unhappy with the order On the bright side the side of sausage was good. The chipotle chicken sandwich tasted alright but the chicken breast was really thin and the ratio of bread to chicken was way off. The side salad was made with old veggies. The lettuce was browning and the tomatoes wilting. The worst part of the whole experience was going to the restroom and seeing dried feces on the rim of the seat. Yikes! How anyone gives this place 4 or 5 stars is bewildering.

Sherry G.

Yelp
Sunday late morning was busy! Waited 30 for seating around 11. Once we sat service was quick & nice! The food was good but it wasn't super impressive, personally. Breakfast burger was confusing since it came out thrown together, not on a bun? Spanish omelet was good! Habanero salsa was hot but good! Mexicali plate was good but beans were okay, the rest of the plate was pretty good. Breakfast burrito was big, seemed to be made with a homeade tortilla. Chilli verde breakfast plate was good but nothing out of this world. Overall the breakfast potatoes were different but good! And they had fresh squeezed OJ! Cute ambiance on the patio, inside seemed cuter

Lisa N.

Yelp
This is a local favorite and has very friendly service that's on point. Food is very good.

Mikayla D.

Yelp
Great place! Nice outside seatings, good food, and fast service. Note that they have a sheet on the counter to add your name and # of party. Pay up front with a ticket, make it quick and easy. Definitely would come again.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
One of our go-to breakfast places. The food here is always consistently delicious. Corned Beef Hash is the best - you can tell it's freshly made and so good. Breakfast Sandwich is also super delicious - a packed sandwich full of flavor. They also have great homemade salsas and jam. The restaurant has such a homey diner feel - complete with a counter you can sit at to enjoy your meal. They also have really enjoyable outdoor seating, and they allow dogs here. A great place to come for a delicious breakfast.

Bob B.

Yelp
So we saw this place on Triple D and gave it a shot. The wait time wasn't bad for 10AM on a Sunday. The menu had a good selection of items however we opted to go with the whiteboard specials. Ysabel had the baked salmon with eggs, potatoes, salsa, toast and jelly. I had the eggs Benedict. The portions were good sized and the food was delicious! Our only complaint was that it could have been brought to the table hotter.

Reveka G.

Yelp
Back and brought the family. The fresh squeezed OJ isn't really fresh squeezed... and the potatoes that accompanied the entrees were somewhat undercooked yet with burnt edges. Otherwise, all the food we ordered (club, burger, bacon/eggs) was tasty and fresh. Service is a bit slow... perhaps a bit understaffed as our server was taking care of customers outside and inside.

Marc G.

Yelp
I had been hearing about Pete's for a while and finally got to experience the pleasure myself. The food is fresh and delicious and the portions are quite large. I did forget to order the blueberry pancakes, so I guess I'll just have to go back. The Working Person's breakfast comes with their phenomenal potatoes... and when I asked our equally phenomenal server Z if I should get toast or the handmade biscuit with homemade strawberry preserves, she just smiled and told me "You can have bread tomorrow." Boom! And she was right. Wow... So good!!! She was great as was the entire staff, so attentive... and hot coffee refills were always being offered. THIS is how you run a restaurant and treat your customers.

Leslie E.

Yelp
This is a wonderful breakfast place. The omelette and French Toast where dynamite. The only reason they only got four stars is the coffee is not that good to my taste. Coffee is important in the morning. Many people where drinking it. And when I was paying my bill. I just mentioned it and she was happy to take it off. Our waitress was so fast and friendly. I have been to this area a few times. Pete's is by far the best everyday persons breakfast. Good sized menu, plenty to choose from. They have a-lot of staff and a-lot of tables. But, I never felt anything but great service. The wait was short. With alot of tables they open up fast. This place has good food, good service, fair prices. This is my definite go to place for breakfast when in Oxnard or Ventura. They said they are working on. Improving the coffee. And it farmers brothers coffee, it's a great brand. Came back the next day. Coffee was much better

Rick D.

Yelp
Pete's Breakfast is the best!!! The food is always cooked to perfection, the service is excellent, and we love the small town vibe. Always our favorite place to have breakfast when we're in Ventura.

Ventura L.

Yelp
Food was delicious!! The service awsome!! We are outside in the patio! Beautiful place and dog friendly too!!

Jessica N.

Yelp
I eat at Pete's quite often, and they are amazing. It is one of the few places where I can eat the sausage and bacon due to my food allergies. Also the food is really good, and we have been there so many times we have tried half the menu. Every time the food is amazing. Next their out door patio is the place to be. The inside can be loud and is bit cramped, but outside you have plenty of room at it is quiet. Also service is great but if they are busy you will wait an appropriate amount of time for your food.

Sandee L.

Yelp
They're not kidding when they described the pancake roll as "HUGE" on the menu. It barely fit in the to-go container *diagonally*, and easily fed the two of us. Saw that Guy Fieri featured this phatty on DDD. Unique! The pancake was pretty fluffy, there was a good amount of fresh strawberries and blueberries, tart yogurt and topped with homemade granola. Lots of textures going on, but I expected more in flavor-town. Expect a wait, whether you are there to dine in or take out. There's a small parking lot on the side and street parking also.

casie k.

Yelp
This place feels like family. My dad and I have been coming here for years, along with other friends and family. We meet every Tuesday morning here for breakfast and it calls for some of the best mornings. I highly recommend sitting on their outdoor patio, in the front section. It has a great environment and feel to it, while also being protected against the weather elements (plus you can bring your dog). I have three menu favorites worth noting, all off the breakfast menu. The Juevos rancheros, blueberry pancakes, and the pancake roll (with berries over peaches) are all a wonderful choice that will leave you full & happy. Not to mention, this place is one of the only affordable places to eat in Ventura any more.

Ran C.

Yelp
Sometimes I wonder how I still have my Elite status with Yelp. I'm so far behind with putting my thoughts down about all the places I've been to and eaten at. Like Pete's. So, went here a few weeks ago with Lisa S. Figure we grab breakfast before we indulge in some wine tasting up in Santa Barbara. Pulled up and score! Parking right in front. I mean right at the front door. It's street parking. No idea if there's a private lot because I didn't have to look for any open spots. Same luck with getting seated. Waitlist for less than 10 minutes before we were seated. Both indoors and outdoor seating. We we were seated outdoors. You can specify in, out or first available. Then the service. I don't remember her name but she was all over her game. She was attentive. She was friendly. She was funny and she and her team took care of us like we were guests in her home. One day I'm gonna corner someone like her and find out what the secret it to be happy when working in the service industry. I know I could never do it. I hate people too much. Then there was the food. Huge serving. See pics. See pic of the Biscuits and Gravy that the server suggested. It was so good. I would die happy if that was included in my last meal before I move on to the next life. I enjoyed it all but I had to make sure to give a shout out to the Biscuits and Gravy. If our tastes align, you're gonna love it. Just know this place can be and is usually packed. I know there are other options in the area but you definitely can't go wrong with Pete's

Lisa S.

Yelp
When Ran C. and I decided to go take a day trip to Santa Barbara, he told me about a breakfast joint in Ventura that's been on his radar. He said it was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. As it was on the way to SB, I was more than interested in trying out the spot. At about 9:15-ish in the morning, we arrived at Pete's. We lucked out as there was a parking spot on the street right in front of the establishment. We walked inside to placed our name on the waitlist and waited approximately 10 mins before we were seated. As we opted for the first available seating, we were able to get a seat in the patio outside. It was a cute area with a bunch of quirky decors. After we were seated, the wait staff provided great service. They were friendly and attentive. I ordered the waffle special which was pretty special. The waffle came with berries, nuts and whipped cream. It also came with two eggs and two sausages or two bacons. I asked if I can get one sausage and one bacon and she said yes! My food not only looked appetizing but I thought it was cute how my egg, sausage, and bacon looked like a face. As I took a bite into my waffle, I enjoyed every bite of it... Overall, I enjoyed the food. If I am ever in the area, I will definitely come back!

Devin B.

Yelp
Not much more can be added to Pete's reviews. I will say the AM burger is the one!! A lean burger patty no bun with 2 eggs over easy add mushroom onion and bacon a low carb high protein start to the morning! Add the potatoes with the habanero salsa and ketchup for a sweet savory salty mix of happy carbs !! Always a friendly welcoming atmosphere and as busy as it seems the waits and food all seem to happen lightning fast.

Thidah U.

Yelp
First time in Ventura & came here with one of my closest friend for breakfast. It was a cute little diner with indoor and outdoor seating. Great customer service and pretty good breakfast! I love the variety of options they had! Coffee was so good too! I had 2 cups before I hit the road back to the LBC! We ordered biscuits and gravy & an omelette along with the BMX waffle special, which was a X games special! The biscuits and gravy were sooo good! The gravy was so savory and the omelette was delicious! The BMX waffle could have been a bit more sweeter, it was kind of bland. Giving this a 4 for the biscuits and gravy and omelette! If I am ever back in this area, I'd come back!

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Super yummy food and unsurpassed service. It's a local place where people know each other. I was just passing through , but felt the warmth and familiarity.

Samuel S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, great service and the wait wasn't bad at all for a Saturday. Large portions so we shared a plate of crispy potatoes, biscuits and gravy and massive burrito. Gravy was good but I've definitely had better. The burrito was delicious. If you're in Ventura you need to have at least one breakfast at Pete's!

Konny L.

Yelp
Very busy, delicious local diner steps from Ventura HS. Rather enjoyed our omelettes & my girls loved the potatoes as much as I did! Would Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area & wanting a delicious breakfast!

Trish G.

Yelp
Took my boyfriend to try Pete's for the first time yesterday and he loved it! He got the Chile Verde Burrito, ate half for breakfast and was full until dinner where he finished the second half. He said he would definitely get it again and he loved the habanero salsa too!

Jeff P.

Yelp
Great music great Ambiance, service was fast and courteous, let's get to the food, I love to try Biscuits and Gravy across the nation and this is a definite top 5 , packed with flavor thick and creamy with chunks of sausage. Also had a slice of French toast, thick and fluffy with house made syrup... yumm Fantastic breakfast stop. Highly recommended

Beckham W.

Yelp
today was our first time here and it was pretty good! I ordered waffles and Hot chocolate and they were both pretty good, I guess we came at the right time because once we got there people started to leave (for lunch I guess) and so it was not that busy. service was also good, it didn't take that long to get a seat. It was not too small and they had cool decorations, what I liked about it was how they had historical people painted on the wall in the back. overall, Pete's breakfast house was pretty good.

Mrs A.

Yelp
EXCELLENT BREAKFAST PLACE!! Great Food, Friendly Staff, Nice ambiance. Hubby & I went here today after people kept telling us about how great it was. Wow! We were blown away! The coffee was really delicious, the food was AMAZING and the service was Top Notch! We were greeted so nicely and Sat quickly. Our server "Z" promptly attended to us, entertaining us with what she calls "her Shpeal" about all the great entrees there (so fun!). The food came out really fast, especially for how busy they were. Z was sooo sweet and accommodating, the other staff members were very friendly & happy to help also. The food was absolutely astounding! Ambiance is country kitchen like, They have an outside patio if you prefer to be outside in the beautiful Ventura weather, both hubby & I thoroughly enjoyed this breakfast experience we would wholeheartedly recommend to everyone to treat yourselves to Pete's breakfast House someday. Great way to start any day... You will be so happy you did!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
We stopped by on Labor Day holiday and the place had a long line forming outside the door for brunch. There was a 20 minute wait for seating so we took a walk around the block and came back. We were seated outside on their patio. It was unusually warm for Ventura, high 80s/low 90s with lots of humidity so it was a tad uncomfortable out there even with umbrellas and a fan blowing but the food totally made up for it. Pete's is a classic breakfast place. I like breakfasts with traditional, hearty breakfast fare. I ordered a short stack of pancakes with a side of eggs and sausage. Hubby got their Denver omelette with potatoes and toast. The serving sizes are ample and the temp of the food was perfect. They had real sweet cream butter for the pancakes (real butter makes it or breaks it for me at breakfast places) and good pancake syrup. The sausage was flavorful and hubby's savory foods were wonderful! The staff and servers were all attentive and kind. We'd love to come back again soon!

Valerie G.

Yelp
I really like Pete's Breakfast House. The coffee is great, excellent biscuits, generous portions, excellent selection, great waitresses, just be prepared to wait for a table. It's that good!

Janice B.

Yelp
Help serves with a smile Food is amazing Best biscuit and gravy Food is affordable One of my favorite places to eat I want to try lunch

Jaimelene S.

Yelp
I have frequented Pete's for the last 3 years and they never disappoint. The staff members are always so welcoming, kind, and joyful. The cafe is such a homey and welcoming space, I will always recommend people to come enjoy the goodness. Thank you Pete's & Crew!! p.s try the habanero salsa, i looooooove it

Angie A.

Yelp
This was a couple of months ago so I apologize I don't remember the names of the plates. But my son got what is supposed to be a pancake rolled up with cream inside, the cream was too overwhelming, it just had way too much it he didn't enjoy it at all. I got an omelette, it was ok. The country potatoes were burnt, not enjoyable, I mean literally they were all burnt. I ordered their homemade biscuit and gravy which too way too long to come out. She brought it out only because I reminded her, the person next to us with a different waitress got hers right away, we were almost done with our food by the time she brought it out. And the coffee.. had me waiting on that as well and not because it was a fresh batch. Not the best experience.

Juju A.

Yelp
The food was great & we enjoyed sitting outside. It's obviously a very popular breakfast spot because it was busy! Our server was friendly.

Msjayfab G.

Yelp
Pete's is a nice spot to head to but wasn't crazy about sitting in the outside as I didn't receive the best service. Either my waitress was overwhelmed with customer sitting in her area or she wasn't that attentive to me. Either way let's not digress from the food quality. The salsa verde is bombbbbbb. I can literally put that sauce on just about anything and it will make it taste ten times better than what it's current state is. Oh and I also had one slice of French toast which was toasty and moist in the middle just how I like it. I've been here a few times now and the food never misses.

L' S.

Yelp
Yum, and pretty reasonable... cheap prices! Cool patio outside to sit, fresh air, the busboy is really nice and helpful. Big portion, tasty potatoes, really good. Only thing no French fries if you're into that. Ordered a waffle special, omelette special frittata, really top notch! I also recommend the biscuits n gravy breakfast.

Daniele R.

Yelp
Great food and service. They offer many options for your breakfast. It feels like home.

K B.

Yelp
First off, the food here was not the one star rating, this is solely based on the service we received. We come to Pete's every so often and decided to try for Mother's Day. They open at 7:30 am and we got there about 15 min early and were the 3rd group in line. We were seated, sat there for about 15 minutes, and witnessed not only tables after us getting their drinks but also parts of their order before we even got asked what we wanted to drink. Coffee had large coffee grounds, we never got offered refills, and had to ask for water. Then to top it off, they bring out our food, completely forgetting to put in my moms meal, and half of my husbands was missing. They both waited 10-15 minutes for the food. For a restaurant who was specialized on Diners drive ins and dives, this place should be embarrassed to offer service like this.

Renee T.

Yelp
Cute spot with outdoor dining and a friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was great and offered some good recommendations. Ordered an eggs benedict since it was the special, and everything was perfect- yolks that run, plenty of hollandaise, thick cut ham, and the potatoes on the side were nice and crisp. Flavors were really good all around. Orange juice was fresh squeezed, but no free refills. If you can manage to find parking and don't mind a bit of a crowd, this is a great breakfast spot.

Ricardo R.

Yelp
The food I ordered wasn't any good. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and I'm sure they use canned diced tomatoes and canned refried beans. Overall it had no flavor. The service was great!! Our waitress was very friendly. The ambiance was ok.

Mary T.

Yelp
Large covered patio dining area with seating and fountain. On first Saturday of month there is a cute pop up arts n crafts fair in lit next door. Good food. BIG portions. No wonder there's a line to get in - definitely worth the wait!

Joe I.

Yelp
Best breakfast in Ventura. The pancakes are amazing. The pancake combo with eggs and sausage is big enough fire 2 people to split.

Dsrlene R.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. Nice outdoor seating too. Great service. Delicious homemade strawberry jam.
