"Petit Robert Bistro has been dishing out French food on Columbus Avenue for nearly 20 years now. Go full French and try the coq au vin. The restaurant group’s French dynasty also includes Batifol in Kendall Square, Marseille in the South End, and the very good bakery PRB Boulangerie in multiple locations." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

Perfect weekend brunch options. Tasty food and relaxing atmosphere. Accessible by public transit. Great location to take a walk before and after the meal in South End, surrounded by great architecture and greens. Server is a bit new

Best French cuisine we've had in Boston this far! Food delivered across the board - from escargot all the way to our creme brulee! Will definitely be back.

Our daughter chose Petit Robert to celebrate her Masters Graduation with a select group. We were early, so they sat us outside for lattes & a pastry basket, "just to stay in shape," as Eck would say. We moved inside for our early afternoon meal, and the fun really started! Our selected drinks were across the board - more lattes, wine, a mocktail, and black coffee. The Amande Douce was a delightful combo of orgeat [almond syrup], lemon juice, and orange juice. A few of us shared the escargot, which were a treat, but maybe a tad over salted. The extra sauce was wonderful for bread dipping, while the brightness of the mocktail was a match for the hearty garlic. Once again, we gave the menu a thorough workout as our selections ranged from a beautiful onion soup, French toast, mushroom crepes to both smoked salmon and prosciutto mortadella waffles. We shared tastes and thoroughly enjoyed our selections! Several boxes were required to bring the delicious remains home to extend our gourmet feast to another day. Unfortunately, we were much too full for even a glance at the amazing desserts. We observed a variety delivered to neighboring tables, but, alas, not this time. Ahhhhh. Gastronomic Satisfaction. Merci, Petit Robert!

Google
Good service, decent atmosphere but seating is a bit tight. Potato waffles were OK. I got the smoked salmon option and thought it was a bit plain. If I returned, I wouldn't order it again.

My wife and I hosted a private event in the back patio at Petite Robert, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Kelly, who organized the event, was exceptional. She was incredibly helpful and kind throughout the entire process. From designing our menus to creating a thoughtful layout and offering invaluable input, Kelly ensured everything went exactly as we had envisioned. The staff at Petite Robert were equally impressive—every interaction was met with warmth and professionalism. The food was outstanding too. Overall, our event was flawless, thanks in large part to Kelly and the team. We highly recommend Petite Robert for any special occasion.

Google
Escargot was to die for - and I can never say no to foie gras. Also got the cheeseboard and the French onion soup. Staff were super pleasant and helpful - we changed our reservation at the last minute and they still managed to swing us a table. It gets very crowded though, and it’s a small restaurant, reservations are definitely necessary

It was a good French restaurant. Nice atmosphere with a great view of downtown.

Petit Robert Bistro is a great spot for lunch and weekend brunch. I’ve not been for dinner, but I’m sure it is good too! The brunch is great in the summer because the patio is open and there is usually plenty of seating. In the winter there is a good amount of seating too, but I’m a fan of the counter service—so I can chat with the bartender. The brunch menu has a bunch of classics— but my favorites are the quiche, waffles, and baguette. The espresso drinks are great, but I also like their cocktails or mocktails. The service is great. I’ve always felt welcome! Thanks!

Yelp
Great local French spot. Service is great and all of the waiters are such sweet and helpful. Great outdoor patio in warmer seasons- perfect for a spritz and yummy dinner Started with an aperol spritz and for dinner had the Demi poulet rôti with a glass of Sauvignon blanc- with tip came out to $75 and was very happy with it! For lack of a better word, the chicken was very moist and I subbed the roasted potatoes for mashed which made it 10x better in my opinion. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a yummy, comfort meal with nice ambiance in the south end.

Yelp
Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Very cute spot in the South End, perfect for meeting up with friends on the weekend. Came here on a Sunday morning at 10:30AM and it was very easy to get a table inside without a reservation. Charmingly decorated inside. Menu is very French - my smoked salmon potato waffle with capers was delicious! The waffle texture was different, but didn't taste overwhelmingly of potato. Would come back here again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Although there are many good reviews of this restaurant, I need to offer a different view. My friend and I had appetizers and wine before a concert the other night. The service was highly lacking, with many young assistant wait staff hanging around without a clue what to do. Only one waiter was professional, but very busy with many tables. The French bread served had nothing to do with France, more like a grocery store version of a baguette. The trio of pate was shockingly boring and unimpressive for a supposed bistro, with little flavor, especially the rillettes. The worst was the butter, which was whipped to a frenzy for no reason; it tasted like whipped cream, not French butter. Why they whip it makes no sense when they could serve really exceptional Normandie butter instead. Sorry Petit Robert, but your reputation does not guarantee satisfied customers.

Yelp
Went to Petit Robert Bistro last night for dinner and drinks with friends. We were seated outside at first and eventually they moved us inside as soon as a table opened up, which was very accommodating of them. However, there was a mix up with our drinks after moving indoors and the waiter didn't come back to take our order for another 10-12 minutes. Finally we placed our orders. I'll start with the drinks. I got the vin chaud which was perfect for a cold autumn night: not too hot and it came with a cinnamon stick. After dinner I got the bleu elegance and the cappuccino martini. The bleu elegance was refreshing and delicious, the cappuccino martini good but it's basically an espresso martini with baileys: a bit too creamy for my liking. For an appetizer I got the French onion soup which was delicious, savory, and everything you'd expect. For dinner I got the beef bourguignon which came with a side of mashed potatoes. It was very good but not amazing and for $39 I expected to be wowed. They also give you a small, warm baguette and butter for the table which was quite good. I'd come back, I enjoyed myself and had a good meal, but it's a little pricy and not superb. Ambience: 5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Food: 4/5 Drinks : 5/5

Yelp
I had a nice brunch at Petit Robert Bistro. I ordered the Parisienne Omelette, and my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict - my friend said her meal was exceptional. My omelette was good, and it tasted very fresh and healthy. The side salad was also great. The servers were very friendly, however I do have to say that the food took quite a long time to come out. The restaurant itself is so beautiful and has a chic vibe - I like the ambiance of this place a lot as it really adds to the experience. Overall, I had a good brunch at Petit Robert Bistro.

Tina R.

Yelp
Service was excellent and the food was very tasty and satisfying. Great little restaurant in the south end.

Yelp
Relatively expensive for what you're getting, but maybe that's just Boston these days. Nothing special about the space (very tight inside actually), nothing special about the food or drinks. Service was ok.

Paige T.

Yelp
We had a nice time at Petit Robert Bistro. To start, we had the Planche De Charcuteries (salami, chorizo, pâtés, prosciutto di Parma, & mortadella) which I didn't love as it seemed like it had sat. We then had the Boeuf Bourguignon (red wine braised boneless beef shortribs, mashed potatoes, carrots & pearl onions) and the Steak Frites (11oz. grilled N.Y. strip loin, sautéed spinach, pomme frites). Both dishes were authentic and flavorful. We finished the night off with a profiterole. The service was great! The server provided an amazing bottle of red that paired well with our dinners. We were also in a rush for a play and they were very accommodating. Petit Robert is a classic dimly lit French bistro. They had cute two-person tables outside on the patio/sidewalk creating the European experience. Inside was pretty tight as the tables were close together. This also made it quite loud and easy to overhear other conversations.

Yelp
I saw this cute French cafe on Instagram a few times and was very eager to come! One of the quotes on their menu ("mangez bien, riez souvent, aimez beaucoup") made me really smile, and fortunately, my meal here did not disappoint! My friends and I had a reservation for 12:30 on a Saturday - they were super busy at the time, and it took us around 5-10 min to get our table, so definitely plan ahead if you're coming for peak brunch hours. We ordered a pain au chocolat, the eggs benedict, a croque madame, and the bourguignon au fromage. Everything was so tasty! My favourite was the bourguignon - the beef super tender and juicy with just a fantastic savoury sauce. Croque madame was also a highlight - yummy ham and cheese inside perfectly toasted bread. Also, the salads with every dish were really tasty, with a light, sweetish dressing, which topped off a really great meal. For drinks I had the mise a vert cocktail since I was intrigued by the matcha flavour in the description - unfortunately fell a bit flat, since I didn't find the combo of matcha, gin, and lemon to work very well. Overall, a great meal! Price point somewhat higher than I expected, but I sometimes just figure it's the 'brunch' premium haha. My only complaint was just that the service was a little lacking, probably because of how busy they were; it just took a while to get anyone's attention (to get seated, to order, to ask for napkins or the bill, etc.) which was a little suboptimal. Not the biggest issue, though, and I definitely want to come back soon!

Yelp
Gorgeous drinks and amazing food! A great place to come for brunch in the South End. Definitely get the pastry basket!

Yelp
A dear friend brought me here and I had no time to go over previous reviews, which Im glad for (this time around) since I rarely dine at establishments with less than 4 avg stars these days (bc my hectic schedule doesnt allow for much dining so must have some process of elimination) Ill first state that I did not choose my dish. I sensed that this was the type of place where the servers truly knew their dishes, so I asked him to "surprise me" I was so caught up in the rich dialogue amongst my friends who were hosting that I didn't notice the steaming baguette sitting there at first with homemade butter. My friend mentioned how much she adores good bread, so I took a bite, though I tend to hold out for the real deal part of the meal. I might have unintentionally consumed two halves with at least 2/3 portion of that butter. Im not saying it was Bergamot (of somerville. RIP) level butter. Im just saying I wasn't expecting anything, so steamy bread that melted in my mouth as first thing I consumed that day at 12:15 was delicious. The "surprise" was some dish that included crusty sliced bread with ham, cheese, and egg over easy on top melded together. There were fries (that appeared like a higher class version of McDs fries) on the side, which I used to dip into my egg yolk. And a fresh mixed green salad already tossed with a light vinaigrette. My friend ordered the Benedict and the host ordered a dish I cant seem to identify. Maybe an omelette of sorts. The coffee is said to be good. My mint tea was okay. Not as good as Cafe Bonjour in Downtown Crossing (using real mint leaves) but who has time for that kinda thing these days one might argue. I did appreciate the determination of our server who eventually found "hot sauce" for us despite a few failed attempts by others (in bringing that bastard tabasco), but my pleasure might be more due to his handsome bearded smile. I have no price (worth the food) assessments since my host generously paid for our meal, but Id consider coming back for the service alone and trying other signature dishes. It was packed when we arrived but emptied out a little by the time we were done and I can imagine a quaint date night on a warmer day outside under the moon or light pollution. Cheers.. to real French baguettes (boston style). And kind servers with handsome beards.

Yelp
I live very close to PR and always enjoy the food and ambience!! Great place to bring visiting friends/family . Excellent seasonal menus (their Thanksgiving menu was a great deal for the amount of food!) reasonable pricing , and attentive staff. A South End gem

Yelp
Great cappuccino, beats the crowds and a bargain. Lovely, chill vibe on rainy weekday afternoon....

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in for a small brunch before I went back home, and we honestly had a great meal ! (Also, please be aware, French food has never been my favorite, so doubling in my friends reviews as well :) )! Apps: Escargot and bruccessta salad I have never tried escargot, and was very hesitant to try it in general, but it was actually fine! I'm a texture person, so it wasn't my favorite, but my friends lover it! Now the salad was amazing! Everything played so well with each other and the balsamic was amazing! Entree: I got the Croquie Misourn and it was good! I will say, the ham was lacking (only filled about half the sandwich), but it was good none the less. The salad they paired with it was very good and light and the fries were great as well! My friends got the eggs Benedict and had high reviews! Service: the service was absolutely amazing here! We never had an empty water cup and were able to switch tables easily when the sun got a bit too hot. Thank you all for amazing service! Overall, if you are win the south end and want to grab a nice brunch somewhere, I highly recommend stopping in!

Yelp
I've been walking by Petit Robert Bistro for years and always wanted to try it. I finally decided to come in with a friend for Saturday brunch. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The main quality PRB has going for them is the ambience. It is very cute and they have a great patio, especially on a beautiful summer morning. The service was fine until it wasn't. We were promptly seated and served water and drinks, and our server was attentive when we decided that we were ready to order food. We ordered a pastry basket and an eggs benedict, both of which came out fast. However, we found a long hair in the side salad that came with our benedict. We politely (and quietly, so as to not be disruptive) alerted a server of the issue and they took away our food. About 5 minutes later, they came back with the exact same plate with the hair STILL in the salad. I had to look the server in the eye as I pulled the hair out myself. They once again took the plate away and brought a new dish, but I am still not convinced that they didn't replate the exact same food on a different plate. What was most disappointing about this experience was that they made no effort to apologize or make up for this blatant disregard for santiary practices. They were not at all proactive or apologetic, nor did they offer to comp our meal. The pastries were good. The ambience as I said is lovely, and the service seems good in most cases. I also realize that what we experienced is a rare occurrence. However, our situation could and should have been handled better by the staff, which is why I felt that this warranted such a review.

Yelp
The one star is due to lack of hygiene from the bartender... We started off well and things quickly declined by the end. There was a special prix fixe menu available. It had sea bass on it as an option. I asked where it was from. Bartender asked the kitchen and they said it was Black Sea bass from Maine. That may be so but it is late January now and I'm almost certain Black Sea bass season in Maine ends in December... So... we went with a safer set of options. Onion soup - It was good. No complaints. Not fancy and it looked like the poor man's soup it is supposed to be. Boeuf Bourguignon - beef short ribs braised in red wine. It came with carrots, pearl onions, and mashed potatoes. This was good. Next up - we went from 4 stars to 3 - the bartender disappeared and another girl came over and asked if I would like the check. So, no dessert or coffee for me I guess as it wasn't offered. I responded that I would like a refill of my empty water glass and would like to see a dessert menu. The girl filled the water glass directly from the spigot attached to the bar sink even though there was a full water pitcher right next to her. That was kind of off-putting to get water from the bar sink directly to my glass. Not the classiest move. I then got handed a nice dessert menu that mentioned all kinds of good desserts, coffee, tea, dessert wines, dessert drinks, digestifs, etc. I ordered the chocolate mousse. Chocolate mousse - it came with berries which I found kind of odd even though I love berries. The mousse tasted fine. The spoon for the dessert was placed directly on the bar. I thought that wasn't the cleanest way to serve the spoon. I would have preferred it placed on a napkin or a plate, not directly on the bar. I asked for a new spoon. The bartender came back while I was eating dessert and proceeded to touch her eyes repeatedly (many times), fingers in her eyes, touching her mouth, touching her ears, hair, and face constantly. It grossed me out. To do this in front of a guest at a restaurant is outrageous and should never happen. She also didn't wash her hands afterwards and proceeded to go about her regular duties including touching my water glass, handling my payment and check, etc. I will probably never step foot in there again. That's how grossed out I was. It seriously turned my stomach and ruined the whole experience.

Yelp
Great food, coffee drinks, and great service. We loved our brunch. The patella trio was phenomenal, as well as the avocado tartine. If you're looking for something different, try the Potato Wafflles. It is a savory waffle, and I had the one top with smoked salmon. Great restaurant and looking forward to trying dinner on my next visit.

Yelp
After years of wanting to try this spot, a gift card in hand, we went over the weekend. What a disappointment! They were not busy. We split the black lentil and radicchio salad - which was pretty much a pile of chewy black lentils with 6-8 feathery bits of vegetables on the sides of the pile. My partner had steak frites - ordered pink/cooked through, arrived quite raw. (I was about done eating by the time it came back). I had the most tasteless piece of salmon I ever had. Salmon is probably my favorite food. This was cooked *hard*, and I don't think any bit of salt or lemon or anything touched it. It was memorable for being so tasteless. It was on a bed of some vegetable mush of some type that at least had some flavor to it. We asked for bread and we're brought a basket with 4 tiny pieces of decent warm baguetteThat, plus one coke, one glass of wine (the cheapest on the menu) and one mixed drink... $150 (with tax and tip). I don't mind paying for a good meal, but this was way too much money for such a mediocre meal. I had a far far tastier meal the next day at Yard House. Don't go here. Except for drinks. My mixed drink was yummy! (Also, the special gift "gentleman's steak knife" my partner brought with him and accidentally left was not returned - we were the last ones to leave the restaurant and he called first thing the next day and they said they didn't have it).

Yelp
Went to Petit Bistro as I had my eyes on the idea of trying a Parisian Hot Dog. Honestly, it left a lot to be desired. I wish someone posted pictures of what their hot dogs looked like since there are none, so let me do that. The hot dog was literally a premium, pretty wide hotdog, but with what looked like a slab of cheese just tossed onto it, shoved into a grocery store hot dog roll. (The picture is only half of the hot dog. I did eat one half at this time, so you get double of what you see here). Still not at all worth a 15 dollar price tag. The salad was okayish. I got the caramelized onion soup and it was also just okay-ish. The baguette given with the soup was fine. This was the first restaurant in my life I think I've ever walked away without finishing my meal. (Usually meals that are bad, I typically still finish but I couldn't with this. It just felt so........ like I didn't want to finish..... and I had just fasted for the day to get blood work done at the BMC too, so I was starving.) 1 Star for the hot dog being a complete disappointment. 2 Stars for the salad. 2 Stars for the soup. 4 Stars for the staff service. 5 Stars for the lack of wait time. Since I believe overall thought should be placed on the food, I am saying 2 star because nothing was great. I don't think it's worth my interest to try them again in the future.

Muriel D.

Yelp
Excellent service. The restaurant is an intimate, yet cozy setting that just screams a night to remember. My friends and I enjoyed all of our meals.

Erin K.

Yelp
I returned again for the brunch option, which was a 3.5 star experience for the food. Food I've tried: - POTATO WAFFLE with DUCK CONFIT ($18): the waffle was like a more dense version of a normal waffle, with a slightly potato-y flavor at the end. (I had expected more of a hash brown like texture in the shape of a waffle.) The duck confit tasted like normal duck, a bit tougher and saltier than I normally expected from duck confit. Atmosphere: - In my previous review I had mentioned the temperature - this time I had the opposite problem of being too hot. We did visit during a hot summer day, but despite sitting inside and asking for the AC to be turned up higher, everyone in our party was sweaty and uncomfortably hot. Service: - All the staff were extremely friendly. It did take a while for us to get our food, though we did visit at peak hours. Overall: - The atmosphere is nice, but the food is ok.

Whitney D.

Yelp
This cute french restaurant in boston has a very cozy atmosphere. I ordered a quiche. It looked great on the menu, when it came out it looked appetizing but when I tasted it It was a bit cold and seemed like it was frozen and they just warmed it up. The fries on the other hand were tasty! And their iced latte was very delicious!

Nimita D.

Yelp
Poor service, cold, not-so-good food. Overall very disappointing. Extremely overrated

Tony B.

Yelp
Truly delicious food, tight seating but good atmosphere, good service. Nice, varied lunch menu. A gem!

Eden D.

Yelp
Where do i start? We were a group of four, we sat around 9pm, we did not get bread for 45 minutes. In all honesty, we were having fun because we are all really good friends, but when the hunger hits and you still haven't managed to flag down the waiter to get your food, frustration levels will spike. But under the pretense we are all very patient, we finally got the waiter to take our order, we did not get our food until 10:20pm. At this point in time, two of us had ordered the same thing, two Steak Frites, one medium and the other medium well. While we were waiting for the food, our drinks that we ordered when we sat down finally arrived. Someone please explain to me how they managed to make our drinks taste like water with a weird aftertaste that I cant pinpoint. Alright so, the food finally comes, one order of mussels, plus our two steaks plus some salad. The mussels were the only decent meal and even then my friend actually chipped her tooth eating the sauce that came with the food. Simply WILD. The steaks, one was severely undercooked and required being recooked, when it came back out it was madly overcooked. The two sauces that came with the steaks (identical orders btw) were completely different, and absolutely atrocious. Not to mention, the food itself was actually hardly edible. The steak tasted like "burger meat" as my friend so aptly put it. It was terrible. Let me not get started on our server. Maybe its because it was a group of four black folk. Or maybe not. Simply said our server had to be tracked down to serve us every single time. I wish there was actually a valid reason, his section was relatively calm and he was absolutely standing around and ignoring our requests. Alas, I think the salad was the only viable meal, and at that point you might as well stay at home. Service was outrageous. Food was less than mediocre. Simply said, I dont recommend. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area. Save yourself some money and disappointment and go somewhere else. Oh P.S., if you want salt and pepper, you will never get it.

John W.

Yelp
Well. What a nice surprise. I returned back after a few year and things seemed to have improved tremendously. The place was packed on a Sunday and there were well staffed for it. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating in a relatively quiet part of the South End. We ordered the Lyonnaise Omelette and the Burger and both were excellent. The food was well prepped and quite satisfying. They do not rush service but they are not slow either. It seemed like the perfect amount of wait time to have a pleasant sit down meal and share a nice conversation. The plates were also full up with very decent serving sizes for the price. I think they use this nice trick of add salad and making the dish look fuller. Why haven't other restaurants tried this? The waiters were pleasant and attentive. I would definitely go again.

Kendall D.

Yelp
Steak frites: would not recommend. The steak seemed like maybe it was cooked via sous vide and just barely seared, so the flavor was really lacking. Also since the fat wasn't rendered, the texture was frankly unpleasant. Fries were ok. Risotto: pretty good, large portion, cheesy and creamy with a good amount of vegetables throughout. Not the best risotto I've ever had but I did enjoy it. The complimentary baguette came warm and came with a side of butter. I wish the butter had been salted (or more salted than it was). I wanted to like this place but the quality of the food let me down a little. The atmosphere of the outdoor seating was definitely nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Christine K.

Yelp
If you are looking for an authentic French restaurant then this is the place for you! We were sat outside which was perfect cause the weather was really nice. Our waiter was very friendly and was doing his best but the service was a tad bit slow. I really like how the staff speaks French so it added to the authenticity of the whole experience. The drinks and food were very good but definitely needed some salt and pepper added. They only have 1 bathroom stall for both men and women which caused for there to be a line to the bathroom but that wasn't a big deal. Parking is nonexistent in this area so you definitely will be walking a block or two to get to this restaurant. Overall I probably would return but only if someone drops me off and I don't have to stress about parking a car.

Mykela F.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is incredible, once you enter the doorway it feels like you've left Boston and stepped foot into France! We sat on the restaurant side which was cozy but lively! The brought out a traditional French baguette as we sipped on the red of the the month. I love that they feature 2 wines every month, a white and a red. For dinner I had the coq au vin and the chicken literally fell off the bone, it was so tender and flavorful! The pasta was homemade and on par with some of the spots from the north end! This is a great place for 2 friends to catch up or a romantic date night, but I wouldn't recommend coming here with a larger group.

Emma H.

Yelp
Been here a few times for brunch and once for dinner. The brunch menu is limited, but it is very good. Dinner was decent, I got the salmon which was pretty good, we also got steak which was sub par, and I'd pass on the cheese board. Limited cocktail list, but very extensive wine list. The atmosphere was fabulous and definitely the best part and the reason I keep going back. If you can get a spot on the patio in the spring/ summer, I'd highly recommend it. Service is very European-style as the servers check in on every table and you don't have one particular server through your meal. Overall great spot, just a tad overpriced for what it is.

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
My best friend took us here while I was visiting her in Boston as a pre-dinner drink & oyster stop. I was a bit hesitant to eat oysters with the Florida oyster deaths but I figured, ah why not! I am glad we had them because they were absolutely delicious and the mignonette sauce pairs so beautifully with them. The staff was very friendly and let us decide where we wanted to sit, and the ambiance is absolutely excellent. It's a nice, fun, upscale bistro vibe. My drink was pretty solid but I think it was a bit more basil-y and sour than I expected, so if you're into stronger basil you should totally go for it. Overall, if you're looking for a lovely date spot whether with a person of interest or a friend, it's a really nice spot!

Koh S.

Yelp
Today we went here for the happy hour Dollar Oysters! We got the escargot and a dozen oysters. The wait staff was attentive and was very diligent on bread delivery and water refills. It was delicious. We were still hungry so we decided on the smoked salmon. The smoked salmon was nice but I preferred to eat it with the complementary soft bread rather than the crouton that the came with the app. Furthermore, there were two crouton pieces for 6 pieces of sliced salmon, perhaps this is the only oversight in this dish. Thank you for the delicious meal, I will be visiting during happy hour again soon

Annie A.

Yelp
Beautiful patio area! I highly recommend you to eat outside rather than indoors because the atmosphere is perfect :) With a church right across the street, it almost feels like you are in Europe, enjoying your French lunch. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, which is like a grilled cheese with ham, and it was very yummy. Comes with a side of crispy fries and salad. Great for romantic yet casual brunch, lunch, or even dinner! I will definitely be back if I am in town :)

Yelp
Niçoise salad was inedible. Tuna was chewy and tasted bad. Potatoes were mushy----yuck. One person ordered hamburger well done and it was medium rare. Croque madame was average looking--nothing special. So lunch was a big food disappointment. Ambiance is nice outside if you have a glass of wine.

Yelp
12/2/2023 lunch and overall experience were terrible. Waiters weren't friendly, seemed to expect us to clear tables! The worst part was the quality of the food: - onion soup with Munster cheese isn't onion soup. if this is the only cheese they had, at a minimum stuff should let customers know! - salmon wasn't fresh - quiche was overcooked and very dry - a plate of 3 macarons! how dare of the Petit Robert to call these inexpensive jelly filled cookies. In addition, one wasn't fresh. In December 2022, we had lunch there and were rather satisfied with the quality of the food and service and gave a positive review. A year later, our disappointment is such that we'll never go back to this expensive place where food quality, freshness and service are bad. Sylvie M.

Yelp
Awesome experience!! I made a reservation for a large group and had to call/email many times with changes. The host/event coordinator, Desmond, was so accommodating, patient, and very responsive! He made everything a smooth, easy, and straightforward process. The atmosphere is also great. Cozy, dim lit rooms with a lot of chatter. The tables and booths give cute Parisian vibes. The waiters were sooo friendly and provided excellent service. 10/10 would recommend :)

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Ambience: 4/5 Food at price point: 4/5 Notes: really great brunch and fantastic pastries. not too overpriced for boston either. adorable outdoor seating area for warmer weather but felt like servers were understaffed

Yelp
Are we in Boston ... or are we in Paris? Petit Robert is magic - the second you step into the restaurant, you're instantly transported to Paris. The interior is cozy and intimate with a cool pink flamingo wallpaper in the bathroom. The outdoor patio in the summer is just perfect - the sidewalk is lined with tables, Parisian woven chairs, and lots of dogs sitting alongside their owners and enjoying the sun. To add to the immaculate atmosphere, there is no rush when you come to Petit Robert Bistro. No one is in a hurry. Everyone is there to enjoy the good food, good drinks, and good company, however long that takes! As far as the food and drinks go, almost everything I have tried has been amazing! A few of my favorites: La Femme Rose: Tequila, Ginger, Spicy Liquor, Grapefruit juice, Lavender Bitters. Delicious, but strong so beware. Escargot: The escargot is incredible! I love the garlic and parsley butter they are drenched in! Make sure to ask for extra bread to get all that delicious butter once the escargot are done. A plate comes with 6 snails. Mussels + truffle fries: My favorite combination and my go-to meal at Petit Robert. The mussel sauce is so good I wish I could drink it! instead, and probably more socially acceptable, I just dunk my fries into the delicious white wine, shallot, garlic sauce. Other honorable mentions include risotto aux champignons, steak frites, and soupe à l'oignon gratinée. Whatever you end up going with, I'm sure the food and experience will be amazing. Enjoy!

Yelp
Disappointing octopus- no harmony of flavors. Octopus was not crispy. Mussels were also bland. Escargots were prepared the traditional way but the freshness was questionable. Solid ambience- festive and comfortable but not loud. Solid service.

Yelp
Continue to be very happy with dining outside at this restaurant. Service, food and atmosphere always keeps me going back.

Yelp
I had my dinner here tonight. The duck confit here is definitely not recommended. I had never imagined spending more than 40 bucks for some dry and salty duck meat before tonight. Also 11 dollars for a small cup of hot apple cider? Basically, the foods here are overpriced. Won't be here anymore.

Yelp
Adorable neighborhood place with very friendly and hospitable staff. Prices are reasonable and portions are quite ample. Somewhat limited menu. Everytime we've eaten there we agree we like it but the food isn't fantastic - but we'll be back.

Yelp
The service was very good. I had the boeuf bourguignon. The sauce was bitter. Oddly, it was a sort of "deconstructed" boeuf bourguignon - two chunks of meat, several halves of fingerling potatoes, slivers of carrot, and two tiny onions, with a brown sauce - more like an Espagnole than the juices from boeuf bourguignon. The bitterness reminded me of when wine is added "raw" to a dish, and not reduced and used for deglazing. My dinner mates both had the risotto, which was definitely undercooked - hard bits of rice. Risotto is a tough one if you don't have the patience to keep slowly adding liquid until done. Delicious chocolate mousse for dessert!

Yelp
The food was pretty standard French food - tasty but nothing crazy! I'd come back strictly because of the cute patio and ideal location in South End. The steak was cooked nicely! I would skip on the French onion soup and the escargot.

Yelp
Slightly overpriced but nice food. We had a reservation for brunch but we still had to wait about 20 minutes. Maybe they should have a time limit or way to honor reservations. Escargot was delicious - 6 pieces for $12.50. Mussels were pretty good. Varies in size. The comes with one baguette but i think it should come with more bread to soak up the sauce. That's the real deal. Ask for bread for the sauce. Fries are just ok. Salmon roti - the ratatouille is phenomenal! The salmon itself was ok. We asked for medium rare but it came out as medium. The skin was a bit burnt and bitter. The Hollandaise was bland. It's nice to sit out with super nice and helpful waiters but with the wait even with the reservation and average sort of food I don't know if I can wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Yelp
great vibes and good food!! always walk by this place and it's so cute on the outside so wanted to try went with a group so we tried a bunch of things! Charcuterie board and calamari were good but nothing to write home about, the lamb chop though was SO GOOD!! perfectly medium, so tender, flavor was amazing! whatever was under the lamb was pretty good but very salty, went well with the lamb though! also ordered all the deserts (aren't on the menu) -- get the creme brûlée it's delicious, mousse also really good and so was the pastry thing with ice cream

Yelp
Food was delicious here! I had dinner and the steak with potatoes and the staff were very friendly/fast with the service. When walking in to their other side of the restaurant, you'll pass their kitchen so you know the food is fresh!

Yelp
Classic French cuisine. Dine Al fresco and just enjoy the terrific salad, great sandwiches, quiche of the day! Excellent service and vibe.

Yelp
We somehow were able to get a reservation last minute for Saturday brunch, and were not disappointed. As the weather warms up, this south end spot is a must, especially with their ample parisian-style outdoor seating. The food was also delicious. We ordered the escargots (make sure to order some crostini on the side to enjoy the sauce!), the ratatouille (super fresh and yummy), croque monsieur (which I rarely find in Boston!) and Bourguignon au fromage, and everything was delicious. The service was also friendly and welcoming. Overall an extremely pleasant brunch experience, would highly recommend!
