"Petra House has served Mediterranean food with traditional decor for 11 years with a focus on Jordanian specialties like chicken soup with rice and broken noodles and mansaf — a large plate filled with tender morsels of lamb in a tangy yogurt sauce served on top of pita covered with basmati rice and toasted almond slivers. Booths with low-slung bench seating and cushy pillows gathered around a large gold metal disk table make for cozy family dining. There’s also a kids’ menu with chicken nuggets and pasta." - Rachel Pinsky

Google
We had such a great experience at Petra! The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, and our server was incredibly friendly — it really added to the authentic Mediterranean feel. I had the shawarma, which was full of flavor, and my husband loved his gyro. The mint lemonade was refreshing. And the highlight? The Jordanian pancake dessert with ice cream — absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
If I could give ten stars for atmosphere, I would. They invested heavily in decor that makes you feel encapsulated by the culture. We loved sitting in a traditional booth (low to the ground) with pillows and a metal table. The food and music were culturally accurate. The server spoke Arabic. It was a great experience.

Google
Everything was great, excellent service, incredible atmosphere with tapestries on the wall, it felt very authentic, well authentic for the US! The food was good, I found it a touch bland, not a flavorful as I was expecting, but in talking to a friend this type of food isn't a flavorful as some others, so a solid four four the food. Overall a week deserved five to this great location!

Google
It was our first time. Service and the food was amazing. We would definitely come here again. Lamb was amazing. The ☕️ tea was was a nice complement to the food and the experience. 👌

Google
What a wonderful find. Atmosphere is incredible very authentic and clean. Our waitress was so attentive and patient. Food was absolutely delicious. I think it is my new favorite food. And a nice price range very affordable. I will definitely be back again and again.

Google
I'm not saying I licked my plate clean, but the plate was so clean it was impressive. The service is excellent, the people warm, and food.. the flavor dances in your mouth and warms the soul. 10/10 highly recommend Floor seating and table seating available. I ordered ouzi and lentil soup with pita, and hot tea. I used to think I didn't like lentils. Just saying.

Google
And here on a Sunday and we’re seated right away. This restaurant doesn’t take reservations for parties smaller than 5, but you really don’t need it. They have traditional seating options where you sit closer to the ground and also regular seating. I love this restaurant because it’s such a good way to immerse yourself in a different culture. They had many traditional Jordanian dishes and a flavors that you don’t really get elsewhere. Also, I love their mint tea!

Google
I recently took a trip to Jordan and loved the food, the people and its beauty. I wanted an experience to bring back amazing memories and Petra House did not disappoint. I ordered Mansaf, a classic Jordanian dish of rice, lamb, and special yogurt sauce. It was delicious. The mint lemonade took me back to a second floor balcony in old Amman. The service was amazing and the decor representing Middle Eastern style was very special. Love this place and I will definitely come back. It is well worth the drive from Portland!

Melody M.

Yelp
The food here is always amazing. I love the gyro platter. There is traditional floor and table seating. The service is the best and they wash your hands with rose water. It's not just a meal but an experience. The tea is amazing too.

Yelp
We've eaten here twice, and I didn't or have forgotten to leave a review here. But, after we've eaten, and went home to do my review, for the 2nd visit, I was noticing that it had gotten a 35 ratings in Nov. 2024 for Health Score, by Health Department Intelligence! Violations Standard not met: Improper storage of raw animal foods Standard not met: Improper hot holding temperatures (Less then 130 degrees F.) Standard not met: Improper cold holding With that said, here's my rating base on each: 4 stars: Welcoming, cozy, colorful, extravagant decor. 4 stars: Delicious food & drinks. 4 stars: Friendly service. 4 stars: Clean restroom, special touches on tiles, and decor. This is where: Looks can be deceiving!

Yelp
Loved the chicken kabob and hummus was yummy! Great service and adorable restaurant! Nice and clean, I'm very picky!

Yelp
My partner and I happened to come across this place a few months ago when he moved into the area- and I'm so glad we did! The food is super delicious. This time around we got the mezza for two which is a shareable platter with a little bit of everything from the appetizer menu. The service is great. They start you off with a rose water handwashing at your table before you look through the menus. The staff is super polite and receptive to questions about dishes. The area we ate at was on the floor in the more traditional seating and it was great! We had the option to close the curtain to make the dining experience more private if we had wanted to. We've been back twice already'! Looking forward to a third time and more. :)

Yelp
Dinner at Petra House was delicious last night. I had the Lamb Kabab with Mint Lemonade to drink. Really moist lamb and buttery rice. The dipping sauce was tangy and complimented the lamb and rice beautifully. My DIL ordered the hummus plate and Falafels as an appetizer and the Gyros Plate as an entree. She loved them all. The best thing, however, was Tasha our server. She was helpful, patient and friendly with the 2 year old we he with us. She even told us (after our food was served that her favorite thing on the menus is the Mansaf. We'll get that next time! Our 2 year old loved the low table we sat at and enjoyed all the fun decorations. We will be back!

Yelp
Fun place- love the seating options. Tasty food and tea. Friendly and helpful service. A gem in a strip mall.

Roni S.

Yelp
First time here and it was a great experience! The service was attentive and they were very nice. They had an option of traditional seating and regular seating, which was awesome! The ambience was calming and the decor of that culture was amazing! I ordered the Chicken kabab plate and it was great! It came with a side of salad and bread. The combination of it all was top tier! The only thing was that the rice was bit oily for my liking. Would definitely dine in again :)

Amanda M.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with some family. The food is good and good portions. The staff was friendly and there's good amount of parking here. They provided suggestions to us on what to try, we tried a little bit of everything.

Joshua P.

Yelp
Wow! What an overall incredible experience. Obviously, the setting is super adorable and authentic. What is also authentic? It's their food! After spending time in the Middle East, I came to this restaurant with a hope that it was legit and I have to tell you... They delivered true, authentic Mediterranean food. We had the sweetest server that explained everything and made sure that we were well taken care of. This was not difficult one to hand out a five star! They earned it:)

Caran K.

Yelp
We had dinner at Petra House last night. Our food was wonderful, fresh & very tasty. Our waiter was very friendly, accommodating & attentive. The restaurant is very clean & cozy! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely dinner & time!!

Michael S.

Yelp
Great experience! This was our first time dining at Petra House, but it won't be our last. Great service, amazing food, and the Baklava is to die for! I completely forgot to snap photos of our dishes, so the empty dessert plate, after we scraped it clean, will have to suffice this time. But man, don't miss out on this gem. The Tzatziki was so good, and the fresh pitas were beyond epic. Can't wait to come back!

Liz L.

Yelp
Super disappointed with the food. The hummos is very runny and bland. The lamb was lacking flavor but it was tender. I've never had braised meat in my hummos. Usually it's shawarma or crisped up meat with a flat top/griddle. My ex is middle eastern. I grew up with a ton of middle eastern folks and eating the cuisine often. I'm not sure what region this reflects but it's nothing I've had before and doesn't compare well. I would not recommend what I had (Hummos with meat). Also my sister had the shawarma plate. Same deal. Lacked flavor in the meat and rice. The best thing was the bread that comes with the dishes. It's wonderful. But I only had a bite because I try and eat less carbs (starches) as much as possible. I would consider giving them one more shot and trying different items on the menu but don't have high hopes. Hopefully it was just an "off day."

Shadan Z.

Yelp
Truly the most mid food I've ever had. Not sure where all the good reviews are coming from- likely people who haven't had good Arabic food. The hummus, the bread, and the tea were pretty delicious and the only reason I didn't give the establishment one star. Every meat item was undercooked and gamey/chewy/had an odor. Very bland, unseasoned, and tasted old. Almost like they made a big batch of every meat and have been reheating it multiple times throughout the day. The rice was dry and flavorless. Highly underwhelming. However, the tea was very delicious and a house recipe. But I truly wouldn't ever visit again. Especially not for that price point.

J G.

Yelp
Mezza platter is amazing!!!! The humas, falafel, baba ghanoush, grape leaf wrap is unbelievable!!!! I could eat there on a daily basis! Heavenly!! Please give it a try.

Prag R.

Yelp
Rarely I give 5 stars to a restaurant, and Petra definitely deserves it. Went with bunch of friends and the experience was so good and I'll remember it definitely. As we entered Petra, we were welcomed by a warm host and he promptly seated us in 5 minutes, we went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't crowded. The entire place is decorated with Middle Eastern decor, carpets, curtains and camel figurines, gives you the authentic feel of how Jordan is. We were given a choice of either taking tables or traditional method of floor seating, we took that, there were cushions to provide support and comfort. We were greeted with our server who brought a huge jug and bowl to wash our hands with rose flavored water per Middle Eastern tradition. Once we settled down we ordered Mezza for Two, extra side of bread, Mansaf and Maqluba and got Lentil soup as a side for one of the dishes. Their tea was good, refills are unlimited. Lamb was very flavorful, fresh and authentic, mind you its not like usual Middle Eastern lamb, its strong in its taste and cooked with yogurt sauce, the taste is very unique and I would love to try it with Chicken next time. Chicken dish was a bit sweet, but tasted good. We tried the Mouhalabieh a Flan type desert and it was way too sweet for our preference. Overall, definitely a good experience and I'd love to come back to try other dishes on their menu.

Yelp
Pretty ok. But I don't really understand what all the fuss is about. I moved near this establishment 8 years ago. I assumed it was super expensive, and I already have my casual gyro spots in rotation, so I never dropped in. My fam doesn't prefer this kind of food, and it seemed like a place that you go to sit down with friends and family. That part of my assumption turned out to be accurate. I was craving the sushi lunch special from a place a couple of doors down, only to find that they're closed on Mondays. I was starving, so I decided to give Petra a whirl. This place had top-notch decor, which made me feel very optimistic, and I even questioned myself for not going there sooner! I had what was basically a chicken gyro (it's called something else on the menu- couldn't find it on the menus posted here on yelp). The chicken? Pretty dry and room temp. The fries? Hot and delicious. VERY well executed with the fries! I actually wasn't sticker-shocked with the prices. Fair for the experience. I will say that I'll hit the drive-through gyro spot down the street moving forward instead. No disrespect. I may go back to try their falafel. This would be a fun place for me to take a group... but note that they don't serve any type of alcohol. Kind of a deal-breaker for the crew that I would potentialy take there.

Yelp
A quick discussion about where to eat some Mediterranean food given the time and other plans pointed us at Petra House. That was one of the best decisions of the month. Petra House is a very traditional and you have the option of sitting at a typical restaurant booth, or in a more traditional seating on low couches. We opted for the booth. Prior to the meal, your server brings a huge jug of water and the traditional hand washing bowl, in Middle Eastern tradition. We ordered traditional Middle Eastern tea, which was pre-sweetened and minty. Note that you CAN get it unsweetened if you ask. We then started with an order of baba ghanouj with pita, while we contemplated the main meal. My partner opted for a Petra House salad with lamb added, and I ordered the Ouzi made with lamb and served with a side of lentil soup. The service was magnificent. We felt like honored guests at all times. The meal absolutely did not disappoint. If you love Mediterranean food, and want to stay on the north side of the river, this is absolutely the best choice around. Very highly recommended.

Andy H.

Yelp
The lamb shank was so tender and delicious. The mint lemonade was refreshing. Attentive service. Would absolutely recommend.

Jessica L.

Yelp
I wish I could give this 4.5 stars because this place truly is special! I loved the ambiance and the food was fantastic! The only thing I didn't love was the price, but to be honest, everything now is pretty spendy! I went here for a friend's birthday and the waiter gave us two free desserts for a group of 3. Very generous of him to do so. We enjoyed the apps and did a family style thing between the three of us with two dishes. The birthday girl still had leftovers to take home! This was a unique experience and everything was so gorgeous! Will be coming back but only for special events.

Alex B.

Yelp
Used to love the food here especially the lamb shanks. It does seem that service is still excellent but the food has downgraded. The shrimp was very rubbery and frankly inedible. I would have personally sent it back in the old days but it's just hard to trust food that comes back out again. My kabob plate with both chicken and lamb were also very dry and tough. Probably not coming back here again. Nowadays, with the price of food at restaurants, a lot of people are not unforgiving so it has to be perfect every single time.

Prima B.

Yelp
The shrimp kabob was super dry and rubbery. Almost inedible. I had a hard time chewing the shrimp. It looked like the shrimp was cooked or reheated a bunch of times. Same with the chicken/ lamb kabob plate. It was very dry. Beware of the hummus. We paid $14 for a hummus thinly spread on a small plate. Not a generous serving at all. I was here several months ago and the lentil soup was overly salty. I had to add hot water. The server actually agreed and was aware of the saltiness of the soup. I did not write a review back then. I wanted to give them another chance. This time with the cost of eating out went up dramatically, as an expectation restaurants should be able to match by providing quality food. We were disappointed. I gave 2 stars because we liked the service otherwise I would have just given 1.

Katie D.

Yelp
Amazing! We got the hummus (so wonderfully silky!), the mint tea (served in a gorgeous glass with a personal teapot and delicious!), the beef kebab plate, and the muqlab (lamb, rice, almonds--super good!). The atmosphere is incredible, the decor immersive without feeling like a gimmick. We'll have to try the traditional seating next time.

Sky J.

Yelp
We actually had a hard time finding a staff member at this restaurant to collect our pick up order. We walked in and it was extremely busy but there were zero staff members around. I liked the decor of this place, looked really traditional and relaxed but the lack of staff made it seem a bit unprofessional. There were multiple rooms and entry ways which added to the confusion. I finally spotted someone who may have been a staff member chasing after a kid and I asked them if they worked here. They said yes. Shortly after I got my food. The lady was very kind and polite so I left on a positive note. However, the food was very mediocre and forgettable. The lamb gyro wrap was small and had barely any meat inside. The meat also looked oddly perfect, it was like thin bologna slices. I've never seen lamb gyro meat look so thin and sad. There was no seasoning on it either and the whole thing tasted really uninspiring and bland. It didn't taste very authentic at all. I probably won't go back.

Edward M.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant on a couple of occasions and I have to say that it is a gem in Vancouver. The decor is beautiful and the ambience is very calm and relaxing. They have private booths were you sit on the floor and regular dining booths. They also have a large private area for group settings. The service has always been excellent. They will come out with water and wash cloths for your hands. This was definitely a first for me but it is an enjoyable experience. Soon they had tea out for us and our orders taken. The food was simply delicious. I don't think the photos do the dishes justice. I can't wait to return and try more of their tasty cuisine!!

Chinmay P.

Yelp
Exceptional. Amazing ambience, attentive staff, delicious and extensive menu. It delivered in every way!

Vicki V.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW! Our 1st night in Vancouver and found this delicious spot. The owner was delightful and the atmosphere was lively. Enjoyed the Mezza plate and crispy falafel. The traditional tea was so good too. Will definitely be back.

Aimee L.

Yelp
This one is about ten miles from home so it's more of a stop after work for me. I just felt too lazy to cook and wondered if Anoush had competition. As it turns out Anoush has them beat in just about every category. I called in the order to reduce the wait but something got lost in translation because there was only one gyro wrap along with my hummus app and extra pita. Don't get me wrong. The staff seem quite hospitable but I emphasized two and still got one. Don't know a way around that unless you want to wait at the restaurant. They're not exactly eco-friendly. Everything came in styrofoam and plastic. I did enjoy the fluffy pita but everything tasted bland and, although bland is my thing (I don't chase food that's going to burn my tongue or any other part of my mouth), I was expecting more with all the raves. The ambiance inside is gorgeous especially contrasted with the strip mall and there's lots of parking. Idk! Maybe I should stick with the specialties. I'll do that if I happen to be the area again.

Pascal G.

Yelp
Food is good but pricey But always get the order wrong on delivery Tried pickup, still get it wrong And no effort to resolve the issue This is the last time ordering from them

Natalie M.

Yelp
Amazing food, polite staff, and unbeatable ambience. We also regularly get take away.

Timothy L.

Yelp
There are few good restaurants in Vancouver, WA, but Petra House is one of the few places that stands out. I tried the mansaf and the lamb and rice were flavorful and cooked perfectly. The taste is very unique and I would love to try it again! Also the ambience is really nice and decorative. They give you the option for traditional floor seating.

Emily R.

Yelp
Favorite place to go for Mediterranean cuisine. It's always clean, pleasant, and the traditional style sitting is very comfortable. The service has always been amazing and Stefan is absolutely outstanding!

Metsä Z.

Yelp
Went here with my wife who is middle eastern, we ordered to go online and got some lamb gyro wraps to try them out with some hummus. When we entered no one greeted us and we stood waiting for 5 min, in that time we did know where to wait or whether to go find someone. Then someone finally came to give us our order. When we came home to eat we were surprised at the quality of the lamb, it was thin like baloney and seemed prepackaged, not fresh. Also the lamb had no seasoning and tasted bland as did the entire sandwhich. Surprisingly the hummus also lacked any flavor, seemed like it was just ground chickpeas with no seasoning. The food came with fries and they were extremely undercooked and near soggy. Very poor quality. Shortly afterwards we had severe stomach issues. Better luck at I heart Gyro if that's what you fancy or somewhere else. The place did not seem to care about quality in any of what it was producing.

Ikram A.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I ordered gyros and fries for my whole family and they were one of the best I've had. The ambience and detail in this restaurant is astonishing. I came here with my family but it makes me want to come back again with my friends! I really loved the effort put into the design. Lastly, the customer service was amazing. I'm very impressed by the people running this restaurant!

Evē M.

Yelp
Love this place that we saw! If you're in for some Mediterranean cuisine you have it here From the outside it looks like a regular restaurant but when you enter it's like you are in a different country. They'll make you choose between a regular table or the traditional table ( we choose the traditional of course!) Food-wise, I was holding off with red meat good thing they have SALMON KEBAB which is seasoned with 7 Jordanian spices. We also got the BABA GHANOUJ (which is like hummus eggplant based) you'd taste that smoky scent while munching it with your pita bread. We also ordered VEGGIE SAMBOUSAK it's packed with seasoned onion, carrots, potatoes, and green pepper it is served with their special sauce tzatziki yogurt. My husband ordered his meat of choice, of course, OUZI (Lamb). He said that the meat is soft, easy to chew, less lamb smell. It is well completed with basmati rice Oh, did I mention that they wash your hands before serving the food?! It's awesome! It is like you're in the actual location and culture!

John H.

Yelp
Will have to try this one another time to see what it is like Location is rather lackluster and is in a non descript strip mall, parking is somewhat congested but not too bad for a person who is a good driver the menu offers a wide variety of options and is reasonably priced for the most part

Oso T.

Yelp
They have really good food. I love Mediterranean food and the tea and coffee is good. I recommend trying the Turkish coffee I love Lamb too. They don't give you a small portion. It's a healthy portion of lamb or beef.

Jackie B.

Yelp
We took the traditional floor seating and it was great. The service was top notch. We started with the Mexza for two. Sooo good! The. We split the Lamb Shank. It fell off the bone. The Lentil soup is great too. You won't be disappointed with any choice. Ask for Stephan, he is great!!

Luke W.

Yelp
Pros: Ambiance and overall look is beautiful Food is priced fairly Large portions Friendly and happy staff Never left hungry Traditional seating is a fun option Cons: No obvious cons, I have nothing negative to say.

Jason K.

Yelp
Great humus, entrees and all the food options you would expect from a Jordanian eatery but you absolutely have to have the hot tea and baklava.

Jenny K.

Yelp
Amazing service and amazing food. First time here and will definitely be coming back. The food got back to us quickly and everything tasted great. We also ordered the sambousak which was my favorite part.

Perla M.

Yelp
Food service and ambiance 5 star! My 5 year old ate her plate clean, and that never happens unless we are home. Thanks!

Holly J.

Yelp
This wasn't just a place to have dinner this was an experience in sight and sound and in taste. Wasn't sure what to expect but I had to check it out I love Mediterranean food and since they state that they specialize in Jordanian food my last name is Jordan I was curious. I really have to say that from the handwashing at the beginning to the tea the appetizers and the lamb dish that I ordered everything was much better than I could've hoped for the flavor palettes are a little different than what I am used to but very well worth it if you like to wake up your taste buds and experience different things this is a great place to go if you were tired of the same old food give yourself a break let them do the cooking and enjoy the incredible smells the good service and the wonderful food it's really enjoyable all the way around if you need a break and you needed to uplift your spirits this is the place to go. For the record you don't need to be afraid of the curry they use here it does not burn your mouth unless you want it to it just has an awake flavor I don't like foods that are too spicy because I am very prone to heartburn so even though sometimes I like to try hot food this is definitely a safe bet this did not cost me any indigestion I'm happy to report and it didn't overwhelm me it was just delightful so be brave check it out you won't regret it

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Always love eating here and bring family and friends any chance I get! (Mezza for 2 plate, Lamb Shank, and Arabic Tea is my go-to order) Wonderfully prepared food, very consistent dishes with amazing flavor, and the traditional Jordanian ambience is spectacular... BUT recently I have received less than excellent service from the female server. Stefan is usually my server but the female (I'm sorry I don't know her name) is not nearly as attentive or friendly. I hope that they pass this feedback along to her. Just this week my friend and I waited 5 min before she asked for our drink order and then after another 5 min she asked our drink order again bc she forgot ?! AND worse than that, she shorted me my pita and my soup/salad side that usually comes with my $29 Lamb Shank dish. And wasn't even apologetic about it!! That was frustrating but I still gave her a good tip and am hopeful she was just having an off day.

Zoe T.

Yelp
We had the most excellent dining experience . The food was superb, and the service was awesome. You'll have to go there and dine in to experience the wonderful atmosphere. You get to choose from the traditional seating to the more contemporary booths. We couldn't go for the traditional seating due to back and knee problems. If you go there, hopefully, you'll get seated in Stephan's section. He's an excellent and friendly server, and his recommendations were excellent choices to try as it was our first time there.

Angel F.

Yelp
I've been coming here for quite some time, it's the best in Vancouver (not that they have much competition), but the food is good and the service is EXCELLENT. I have to get the babaganoush and bread everytime (that bread is ADDICTIVE yall!) And i like the lamb shwarma. Really nice spot.

Jason V.

Yelp
Unquestionably one of the finest dining establishments in Clark County! Your first time at Petra House is likely to burn itself into your memory: sitting cross-legged on low benches in one of the curtained booths; the absolutely fantastic hot mint tea served mere moments later; incredible hummus & mazza, either as an appetizer or an entree; hearty kabobs, kafta and Mediterranean specials; and otherworldly Turkish Coffee and Baklava - the perfect flourish to an already perfect meal. Look, I'll just say it: there is nothing bad on the menu. At all. Put on a blindfold, throw a dart at it, and you're still going to be in Heaven when it arrives. I've been here several times, and unlike most places, where I often settle on a single favorite entree and order the same thing every time, that's not the case here! There's just too many things I want to try, and not enough time to try them all! Stand-outs from previous visits have been: the Gyro Plate (yeah, I know, it's basic, but it was my first meal here, and it kept me coming back, so do with that info what you will), Kafta Kabob plate (probably my reigning favorite), and the Mansaf. I know there have been other visits, with other entrees, but they're so far in the past, I can't recall what they were - only that I have never once been disappointed by Petra House, in any capacity. If you're a fan of Mediterranean cuisine, there are few restaurants that can hold a candle to this one. You owe it to yourself to come here. And if you're unsure? You owe it to yourself to find out, as well. A meal at Petra House is practically a religious experience, so prepare yourself to be converted, and ascend to a higher plane of culinary understanding! Yes, it's *that* good!

Todd L.

Yelp
I visited recently for lunch and it was good. The mezze was delicious and the service was excellent. The place was very clean and relaxing. I recommend this place.

Josh W.

Yelp
Great experience. Food and service were both excellent. Stefan brought out some rose water for us to rinse our hands which was a first for us. Gave us good recommendations. Even the picky eaters in our group were happy. Loved the decor of the place. So many interesting things to see.

Aimée G.

Yelp
This place was so authentic! My friend and I LOVE Mediterranean food so this was a sweet surprise to stumble upon. The food was DELICIOUS and the atmosphere was just wonderful. They have regular tables you can eat at and the more authentic tables where you sit on cushions on the ground. We chose that experience of course. They come to the table and rinse your hands for you with this gorgeous golden pitcher and give you towels to dry off while chatting. (Our server was such a pleasure) Everything felt very traditional. This place is the real deal. If you love Mediterranean food and the feel of a real, authentic experience, GO!
