Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay

My autistic daughter and I arrived on March 6 at 6pm to Petrus. We were greeted with the best care and attentiveness. I specifically mentioned my daughter's disability. We were seated in a quiet area and the atmosphere was most sensory friendly for her. This was her first Michelin star restaurant and both our first visit to the UK. This was a place where my daughter, who has often struggled with the loud atmosphere of restaurants, and struggles with social norms, like table manners, she found herself most welcome. With each dish presented, she took particular interest in the instructions on how to best enjoy the dish. Since she is low verbal., I noted her enjoyment by the giggles she gave, particularly at the linguine dish and her chocolate dessert. I am a single mom, a home cook, with not much to my name, so both the meal, the service, and keen attention paid to my daughter and I was an incredible experience. The dishes were sublime and I apologize to the staff if I was seen crying at how devouring good art and contented sustenance actually feels in the body. Thank you for this wonderful once in a lifetime experience. Your staff is incredible by being accessible and most welcoming. You have mine and my daughter's deepest gratitude.

We visited for the lunch menu and really enjoyed it as the dishes were fresh, well executed and had a slightly different twist, even if they weren’t particularly inventive. I especially rated the Isle of Skye scallop (supplement). The service was warm and attentive throughout. Kane in particular was friendly, engaging and had good banter which made the experience more enjoyable.

Beautiful platting, however, the flavours where not quite there, it was a bit disappointing. We had the lunch menu where we found out that the sorbet was too sweet, and the rest of the dishes were fine, but I was not impressed giving it is a Michelin Star restaurant. I wouldn't recommend.

Buyagift 6 course prestige menu for 2 amazing food so tasty and you can see loads of effort put in. Service superb! The waitress Milena was excellent as were the 2 young men. Highly recommend

I had hoped to give it a 5 but... Pros and Cons. Pros. We had the Festive Lunch Menu which for the price was very good value. The wine was excellent! Whoever buys Ramsey's wine is top notch as we have had excellent wine at his other restaurants. We had the S African Cabernet Sauvignon which after letting it stand for 10 mins was beautiful and good value. Cons.. I expected an explosion of taste with some courses but it didn't happen. The food was presented very well though. The service was a bit lacklustre, we were told what every course was but it was like a monologue with no expression or pride. If you are serving lovely food please make it a wonderful experience and be proud of what you are presenting. No Christmas decorations inside, just a few would have made it a bit nicer. The biggest downfall was the toilets! The gents is small, one cubical and a urinal, so when visiting and the cubical door is open and the lid is up you don't expect to be greeted with a dirty unflushed toilet, surely the people who eat here have basic sanitary skills! I'm taking my other daughter and her husband towards the end of the year so hopefully it will be a bit better.

Loved everything about our meal here! Worth the hype! Food and service were artful and perfectly timed for each course of the meal. It wasn't cheap but that was expected. Would recommend for that special occasion or a Friday 😁

Lunch at Pétrus was 10/10! The set menu was stunning and the service was so thoughtful—they even surprised my boyfriend with a birthday card and a treat. Highly recommend!

I had the lunch menu yesterday(23/10/25) firstly I didn’t know what the expect. First time here, had to look up some of the dishes! I went with an open mind. My lunch consisted of a cured salmon starter with a cream/chive sauce. Amazing!! Salmon melted in my mouth, the sauce ❤️ rich, creamy but not overpowering. Then the lobster raviolo. A single ravioli, had to look this up! Again Amazing! So light. Came with a lobster bisque sauce. Could’ve of eaten the sauce on its own. Main course was duck, I have duck rarely. I often think of duck as greasy this wasn’t the case. Didn’t require cutting as it was so tender. I’m now a duck convert. Two desserts came next, A apple sorbet.so so light! I’d have been happy just with this. Last course was a fig chocolate bomb, was a work of art! Almost didn’t want to eat it. My wine of choice? Petrus ❤️❤️ yes it’s extremely expensive but I whole purpose was to drink this wine. It’s a bucket list item for me. I wasn’t disappointed. 125ml of plum coloured loveliness!! Rich, superb mouth feel, long finish, great legs down the glass Sweet fruit and a silky smoothness. £600! Worth every penny!! The staff are spectacular! Very knowledgeable, attentive, more importantly down to earth. Was concerned I’d feel uncomfortable here but I couldn’t have been more relaxed. Had a lovely couple to chat to also as I went alone. Really friendly and worldly Lastly I received some complimentary 20yr old port😀 never had this before, superb!!

What an amazing dining experience at Pétrus, one of Gordon Ramsay's Michelin Star restaurants. I have never in my life, had a better meal then this! The ambiance was warm, inviting, and intimate. The service was outstanding with attention to every detail. The food was absolutely delicious, every bite was luxurious!

Top 3 in my book.this restaurant is deserving of it's one star Michelin ratings. The place is easy to have a conversation. From double linen tablecloths, carpet and window treatments, it muted the noises. Although our table faced another couple so smile at them, it was elegantly decorated. Our server, Dua, was very professionally and made our close to three hour dining very enjoyable. The sommelier helped me guide through their wines and decided to do glasses of wine. We did the prestige tasting menu and did not disappoint! My friend didn't want the lamb and they substituted it for 100 day aged beef. It was a fantastic sub out. Like a fine piece of art work on your plate and everything just paired perfectly with the sauces and veggies with the main stars of the dishes. So glad we dined here as my fine dining experience in London!

We had a lovely dinner there the other night. This is a great location and the team are very knowledgeable and professional. We did the prestige tasting menu with wine pairings. The somm did a great job and engaged us explaining the wines and chit chatting. Unlike some wine pairings when they get a little out there, they stayed in the fairway but took a few chances (an interesting red from the canary islands). Sadly by the time we got to the chocolate dessert, we were pretty full (we did opt for cheese). The cheese plate was probably the highlight of the meal with a great selection of goat (ash), creamy (brillat savarin), hard (comte), soft (cannot recall the name) and blue. The brown bread was nice. I do wish more restaurants would provide some plain bagette with cheese but this cheese was so good we really didnt need bread or crackers. The rest of the meal was lovely--tomato tart, scallops, cod and lamb. The scallops probably had a touch too much lemon in them (The gel and the foam) and the peas with the lamb were pretty minty. I'm nitpicking of course and for some, these meals are all about the right balance of flavors.

5 stars for the amazing service we received. First, I want to point out that we had originally made dinner reservations here the first night we'd be in town. What we didn't account for was potential delays in both flights and traffic! So we were almost very late to this reservation. We didn't even get to change from our flight clothes into more appropriate clothes for the tasting. I dined at Petrus in yoga pants, a hoodie and sneakers. No make up. To put it simply. In 100% full American fashion. We also came trudging along with our suitcases! The staff was kind enough to hold those for us and seat us. If they were judging us, we couldn't tell. Everything we ate was memorable. Most dishes included a pouring of some type of sauce or soup. Which I thought was interesting. We were stuffed by the end of it. It was a ton of food that we had to take the Madeline's to go! Everyone present was dressed for the occasion and May or may not have been enjoying a date. I felt very happy that this was our first experience in England!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Petrus. This was definitely an experience to be had if you are visiting London. The service is impeccable and the staff wonderful and amazing. The food was both creative and delicious with attention to details as well as top notch presentation. All fresh ingredients that compliments each other to create memorable one of a kind dishes. 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

Wow! This has to be the best dining experience I have ever had. I've been to a few fine dining experiences not many but the service here was out this world! The attention to detail, the knowledge of the food and drinks, water was never empty, service super nice. Not to mention the have a menu for every diet there is. My husband is vegetarian and I'm pescatarian they brought us out two different menus to choose from. The food came out timely and amazing! I loved every moment at this restaurant.

I have been coming to Petrus for as long as I can remember - from when it was the hot new restaurant in town on St. James's. While it has not been the hot new restaurant nor has it been on St. James's for some time, Petrus has remained a favorite. Unfortunately I cannot say that anymore. Nothing is bad and the service is still impeccable, but the food is bland and not particularly unique. It is simply an expensive restaurant living off its reputation. Gordon needs to do a Hell's Kitchen reboot to get it back to its former glory. It would be truly sad to see it simply whither away like so many other classic dining establishments.

Just had the most incredible culinary experience at Petrus in London! We were lucky enough to snag a spot at the chef's table, right in the heart of the kitchen. Watching the talented chefs create not only the meals for the main dining room but also crafting unique and decadent dishes just for us was mind-blowing. I never knew such a culinary journey existed until now. The service was top-notch, a solid 100! The atmosphere, with the hustle and bustle of the kitchen, added an extra layer of excitement to the whole experience. Each dish was a work of art, meticulously handmade and presented to our table. The chefs took the time to explain every element, making us feel like true connoisseurs. It was a feast for the senses, with flavors and textures that I never thought possible. If you're a food lover like me, Petrus is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to be amazed and taken on a gastronomic adventure like no other. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Last night at Petrus by Gordon Ramsay was an incredible experience from start to finish. Each dish had unique flavor profiles that impressed us, like the smoked eel with its initial smokiness that gave way to other ingredients as we ate through it. I now understand better how the ingredients work together to help create a harmonious meal. We had a reservation at 9pm and didn't leave until midnight. The environment was very high class being a Michelin starred restaurant with very reserved lighting and waiters who would come to top off your drinks whenever they got low. What a great experience...

Whining and negative reviews here are incredulous and show incompetence. The moment we entered last night, to the time of departure we were whisked away on an impeccable service and culinary journey fit for royalty. Most of the world's esteemed, celebrated chefs have gone corporate, and have lost control of the quality and service you come to expect from a Michelin star establishment but not chef Ramsay at Petrus. The staff in the front and back of the house are trained at the highest level. In closing the pictures speak for themselves. Photography is clearly not a strength of mine but the pictures tell the story.

Come on Now! Gordan Ramsay so it has to be good right? Not always, I hear a lot of people saying he is getting too commercial. I agree with this especially in Las Vegas, been to a few of his places there and they were very good and very pricey but not what I would call anything near essence of Ramsay, especially his burger and pizza places. Petrus on the other hand is an entirely different beast. This is a true Michelin star dining experience, so alot a few hours to enjoy. The staff is impeccable, there are half a dozen people waiting on you at all time. My wife tried pouring water for herself and the water boy came running to pour the water, he almost looked annoyed that she was going to pour her own water! The food was truley phenomenal, we opted for the chef's menu with wine pairing. Each dish was explained to us as well as the wine that went with it. The food looked so beautiful that I did not want to eat, but alas, I did and it was so damn good. Forget Hell's kitchen, you must try this dining experience. It is well worth it for a special occasion.

As an avid Gordon Ramsay fan, I simply had to try one of his restaurants while my wife and I were in London. Without a doubt, the experience was unforgettable and absolutely up to expectations. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted with exquisite service and a prime, front row table overlooking the beautiful wine cellar. My wife and I ordered the tasting menu, although our choices differed insofar as she ordered the cheese optional extra and I ordered the wine pairing. Each course was memorable, perfectly executed, and delicious. Our undeniable favorites were the mushroom soup, the duck plate, the fantastic crackers and cheese, and the poached egg with pork. The wine pairings were all excellent as well, and interestingly, the Old Fashioned I ordered at Petrus was nearly on par with that at The Connaught (rated world's best bar). The only negative remark that my wife or I could utter was that the menu played it safe. Each dish constituted excellently-executed French cuisine, but clearly was prepared in a way to achieve Michelin stars rather than truly bend the rules or break traditional cuisine barriers. Well that may be nitpicking, with some of the other Michelin starred restaurants in town, including Gymkhana, achieve similar accolades and take greater risks. All in all, a must try.

I had the most disappointing experience in any restaurant here. Let me preface my 2 stars by saying that our wait staff and sommelier were fantastic as was the food. My issue was their dishonesty. I booked the chefs table on open table using the "Experience" tab, where it describes the dining experience as being in the kitchen at a specific cost. After traveling from the United States with friends we were all totally excited. Imagine our distress when we found out we were being seated elsewhere. Not a huge deal as we still had dinner, but how they handled it was deplorable. Their manager tried to convince me that I had not booked it, going on and on about procedures that THEY have in place that had not happened - none of which a customer would know even existed and were not shown during booking Apparently it requires prepayment (I did enter my credit card when I booked). They even called to confirm during which time they offered two menu options with two prices, I mentioned my confusion at the options and discussed how the chefs table had only 1 price option. At that point I had booked the table, now I believed it was confirmed due to that call. We do get a visit (1 minute to placate me) to the kitchen and I wasn't at all surprised to see a full table of 8 dining at the kitchen table, at least I know why we were bumped Clearly 8 spend more than 4. To add insult to injury they called me to try again to convince me it was my mistake. Oh and offer me a bottle of champagne on my next trip in. Hello I live in the US!!! I will not be back there to eat again

A great overall experience. The restaurant only has a few tables so the overall service was great as a result!

Horrible service, mediocre food but decent ambiance. We went here to celebrate an engagement and once seated, the server asks us if we want a complimentary champagne which we declined. I informed her we drink red wine and asked to see the wine list. She mentions it's 70 pages on an iPad and she can recommend a few. We took a look at the list and scrolled to the red wine section and chose a Bordeaux. She comes back and opens a bottle of white wine Bordeaux and once I informed her it was supposed to be the red, she leaves to tell a manger and comes back stating she told me "various" times it was white. Both me and my fiancé told her we declined the champagne because we don't drink white so why would we choose a white wine when I specifically asked her for the list of reds. At no time did she say it was a white wine and so the manager comes over and defends her saying he's worked with her for years and she would not lie. So basically I was the liar and they wanted to charge me for the bottle. He then says he wants everyone to enjoy the night and would replace with the Bordeaux red which made sense as to why she would confuse the 2 because he states there is a red and white of the same wine. It was too late, the night was ruined and as the dishes came out, I was less and less impressed. The best dish was the venison but everything else was tasteless food masked with a sauce. Very salty and for it to be a Michelin star restaurant, I was extremely disappointed. To top it off, they bring the check over and it's completely wrong and had to be corrected by the manager for items we did not even order. Do yourself a favor and spend the money on somewhere that is not so overrated.

Phenomenal food. Incredible service. What an absolute delight. Restaurant is quaint and everything is so well thought out. Each dish was better then the next. An incredibly knowledgeable staff and some of the best food we've ever had. Each dish was explained in full by Cain who was incredibly kind and patient with us. You must eat here. We'll be back if we're lucky enough to get a table in the weekend

Good food and friendly service. Very accommodating of food allergies and special diets. Just as I expected from a Michelin starred restaurant and actually better than some that I've been to. But there are some diners who had loud conversations in the nearby table that was quite annoying (because I can literally hear everything they said and I didn't even intend or enjoy hearing) but that's just luck and it cannot be helped. Otherwise the ambience is nice and relaxing for people to enjoy their dinner.

Gordon Ramsay's 1 Michelin named after the famous wine. Had the lunch menu and it was great (also aesthetically pleasing). The cured salmon went really well with the tapioca and the devon ray wing was cooked perfectly. Service was great, as expected.

Great service, food, pairings staff and ambiance. The best sommeliers and wine pairings. One of the most enjoyable evenings I have had in London. I'm not usually into wine but I really enjoyed the pairing and the private tour of the cellar after our fantastic meal. Highly recommend dining at Petrus

Petrus is our favorite Gordon Ramsey restaurant. We've been here several times and the food, service and ambiance are incredible and consistent. There are a few options when dining here for dinner from a la carte 3 course to 7 courses. I would suggest trying lunch for a fist visit. Lunch provides a good fixed 3 course sampling of what the restaurant offers at a more reasonable price point than dinner. If you like Lunch (and you will) come back for dinner. We tried the 5 course Prestige Menu for dinner and it did not disappoint. You can tell a lot of work goes into food preparation. The theme for our meal was "Spring" and every dish had something floral highlighted. From the edible flowers in the Organic Spelt Ragout first course to the Ice Cream sculpted tulip for dessert. A big shout out to Danny who help with wine selections which paired perfectly and complemented my Scallops (Chablis Grand Cru) and the 100 Days Aged Cumbrian Blue Grey (Clos du Marquis). Each dish is small, but by the end of all the courses you are sufficiently full and satisfied. You can tell there's a huge amount of thought, effort, dedication and pride that goes into creating and presenting the meal and it really is a form of art. If you have an allergy to some ingredients on the menu, the chef will completely make something just for you, as they did with my sister-in-law. Also note jackets are not required. Although nice classy dress for this level of restaurant feels better for me, there were folks there wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Give Petrus a try. You won't be disappointed.

Poor customer service and communication. My underage son made a reservation here without knowing the price range. A few hours later, I reviewed his dinner recommend and saw the price range and menu and called to cancel. Whomever answered the phone cancelled the reservation no problem, but didn't tell me it would be a 120p per person cancellation charge! I called back and spoke with the Manager and she was unable to refund the 240p charged on my son's card. She mentioned that we could come in and eat an a la cart menu. I don't think she understood the mistake that we could not afford a meal of this price, or that someone should have mentioned that we would be charged when I called to cancel. Not a great experience!

This place is super fancy. I expect nothing less from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I made a reservation for this place about a month in advance for 3 people: my fiancee, his sister, and myself. I warned them ahead of time that they had to dress smart casual, but jeans were allowed. We arrived there about 15minutes early. I wasn't sure if they would sit us, but I was ok waiting. Luckily, they sat us, albeit in the way back (lols, probably because we weren't immaculately dressed like the other diners.) I was wearing a nice sweater and non-denim pants. My fiancee was wearing a polo and jeans. His sister also wore jeans and a sweater. Pretty sure they were mildly embarrassed and that's why they stuck us in the back haha. The entire experience was well worth it. I think we all expected it to be a normal, three-course meal: appetizer, main, and dessert. But we got a lot of complimentary dishes here and there. We were shocked and grateful. His sister said the portion was perfect. They were basically little bite sized portions of these dishes. We all got something different for the appetizer, main, and dessert. My fiancee went with the fois gras, short rib, and souffle. His sister got the egg, fish, and I can't remember the dessert she got. I got the scallop, duck, and cake. Everything was perfect. The service was great and the food was wonderful. I think my fiancee had a great seat in the restaurant because from his seat, he could see everything. This is one of those restaurants that I would return to once in a blue moon. It's good to have the experience, and say "I've been to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant."

There are no words to describe how amazing the meal was!!! On top of that, the service was pretty much perfect!!! We didn't care for the sommelier (younger guy) who was a bit arrogant, but the rest of the staff made the experience top notch!!! So many restaurants in Europe boast about having a Michelin Star or two - we visited a few between London and Italy and NONE of them came close to our experience at Petrus. Gordon's team absolutely set the standard for impeccable service and amazing (and attractive) food. Petrus is absolutely a must visit restaurant in London - it will cost you a bit- but beyond worth it!!!!

Wow! Gordon you've done it again.. everyone here was so kind and knowledgeable. It felt nice and comfortable to be here, like you know everyone enough to want to stay and continue to eat, chat, drink. It made my husband and I extend our stay in London, and we really won't ever forget this day. Every time the food came out and I ate I said "this is my favorite one", so many good sauces. Just incredible! Thank you Petrus!

Petrus lived up to my expectations. Fantastic lunch menu for 55GBP. Great service. Dishes were light and flavorful, perfectly executed. Loved the mackerel (appetizer) and pork (main).

It's pretty pointless trying to describe perfection. From the moment you walk into the understated opulence until you leave, you are treated like royalty. We had the tasting menu, 6 courses plus several "amuse bouches" which you can check out on line. Tastes I hadn't even dreamed of. Every course was like a magician performing a difficult trick and you have no idea how it"s done. At one stage my brother went for a pee and while he was away from the table, they refolded his serviette. It's a once in a lifetime experience..well, maybe two when we go back next year. More pics to come but take a good look at this one as a warning! Remember, the Pound is worth 1.3$ so do your maths and take your wallet!

Wow. I think I now understand Michelin star dining. I felt completely under dressed compared to the staff who were of the highest level in providing top notch service. Found a reasonable Valpolicella go go with our 3 course set dinner (85GBP). Amuse bouche was very innovative and delicious you wonder where they procured the ingredients. My Roast Foie Gras with rhubarb, smoked onion and sorrel starter was the best I've ever tasted, perfectly browned outside and medium-rare inside. The Cumbrian Venison with turnip, pickled walnut and juniper was very fresh, presentation beautiful and utterly scrumptious. Others in the party had the Aged Beef Tartare and Confit Organic egg starters along with Cornish Monkfish, Filet of Dexter Beef and Roast Duck mains. Of course desserts were superbly crafted and they accommodated the allergies to our party. Totally worth it.

Petrus lived up to the expectations. The service was phenomenal and the staff were very friendly and professional. We had a great experience there. We went during a weekday lunch. There weren't a lot of people and we were given a lot of attention. Food was fantastic too. After our meal, our waiter offered to take up downstairs to meet the chef at the kitchen. We got to talk to the chef and he even showed us the ice cream machine and told us how it worked. Definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We had a very delicious meal. It is absolutely worth the Michelin star, but obviously quite expensive. We all did the tasting menu for food and wine, which was lovely. It was exactly as I had expected - very small portions, But every portion was just fantastic. Obviously, this was a rather expensive meal. Definitely more of a once-in-a-blue moon experience for me, but it was a nice change of pace. The restaurant was packed and the service was fantastic.

The best scallop, the best beef dinner and the best lamb dinners we ever had. It was an amazing dinner experience. The green gazpacho was perfect! The melon sorbet pre dessert with salt and olive oil was the perfect palate cleanser. Overall great experience. I didn't care for the steak tartare. Portions are small but perfect

I'm definitely not an expert at reviewing fine dining experiences let alone Michelin Star ones but I can definitely say that my night at Petrus could not have gone any better. My boyfriend and I came here for my birthday dinner and I still cannot stop thinking about this place! The service was impeccable from the moment we stepped into the restaurant till the end. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we were determined to get the full experience here so we both chose the Discovery of Petrus Tasting Menu (7 courses). The wine menu was huge as was the physical glass-encased wine room in the middle of the restaurant. Luckily, we had a knowledgeable sommelier help us pick a red wine to go with our meal. Shortly after we ordered, we got to try two complimentary starters which were both so good and completely raised my expectations for the rest to come. I could go on and on about each dish but we both felt that our favorite was the heirloom tomato salad with mackerel tartare, smoked creme fraiche and basil. The combination of ingredients was unexpected but worked so well together to create the fresh and unique flavors. My second favorite was the Roast Veal Sweetbread with almond and gooseberry. The veal was tender, buttery and bursting with flavor. The almond sauce was so delicious, I wanted more! My boyfriend also loved the Seared Orkney Scallop with braised kombu, bacon and egg sabayon. The giant palm-sized scallop was perfectly cooked and tasted so fresh. All the toppings were really flavorful but didn't overpower the scallop either. For dessert, I couldn't get enough of the raspberry souffle. The souffle was warm and filled with light fluffy sweetness in a crispy outer shell and a scoop of raspberry and rosemary ice cream in the middle. My boyfriend thought it was a bit too sweet but I loved that the flavors were bold. We also enjoyed the pre-dessert and the little treat after our dessert. Our night at Petrus exceeded all my expectations. In short, you won't regret getting the tasting menu. I also found out from our waiter that they have a chef's table experience (minimum party of 4) and this is now something I want to come back for!

My friend and I headed to Petrus for New Years Eve with excitement and high expectations. We were having the special menu (which we had not seen before arriving, and that's ok). Everything started well, we were underway with champagne and a run down on the menu. A couple of questions, one about a course we didn't understand which was explained to us and luckily we did as it contained mango which I loathe (yep, I'm one of those). We were told that the duck would be pink and asked if that would be ok. My friend clearly told the wait staff that she would prefer that the duck be less cooked, more red - more like medium rare. We decided not to do the wine pairing, instead asked for recommendations for half-bottles that would match the food. The selection was well presented, with the Sommelier giving us a run down of each option. We decided and, as it turns out, the selection were excellent. The food started to come - 2 morsels that were very nice then mushroom soup served in a tea cup (nice touch) and delicious. This was followed by another soup that was extremely tasty although it could have done with a bit more liquid. Now we start going downhill..... the scallops were ok, although the dish felt somewhat disjointed (my friend didn't eat her's after the first mouthful) then dover sole which was over cooked so much that when cutting it, it required so much effort that any sembalce of texture was lost. Ah, the duck. Well it came out pink for both of us. Not remotely as my friend had requested (remember, they asked!). For me it was just on the side of acceptable and I emphasise just. The red cabbage and sauce that accompanied the duck were very good. The dish that contained mango was brought to the table and when my friend asked which one didn't have mango there was a flurry of activity and both were taken away. We were re-presented with this dish which turned out to be the highlight of the meal (for me the mango was replaced with pineapple). Scumptious! Dessert was intensely flavoured with espresso. Nice mix of textures with cream, a kind of ganache and a wafer. It was ok, although I do think the diner should be able to decide on whether or not to have coffee at the end of a meal. After dessert there were 3 post-dessert desserts, Madelines (Delicious), some kind of jube and a nougatish thing that was ok. In the end, I though that the food did not stand top to its 300 pound per head price. I've had much better for much less in other places in California and Australia. I want the time I spent at Petrus back. Sorry Gordon.

I had high expectations. They were exceeded. This was the best meal I have ever eaten in my life. I am posting a few sample pics. I can also say that this is the most expensive meal of my life .... But it was so worth it. We went for an experience and we received. The service was incredible. It was like watching the musicians at the symphony work together. I'm not sure I could ever justify the price again, but I am so happy I went!

My boss made reservations for Pétrus since we were in London for work. When we entered we were greeted by the staff, they introduced themselves and asked us for our names (they remembered our names throughout the dinner). We started off with a gin and tonic- nice pour on the gin We had the tasting menu, and my boss had the prestige wine pairing, his wife had the classic wine pairing. Everything was phenomenal, my favorite was the lobster omelette, the roasted halibut, the chicken with foie gras. I wasn't too fond of the dessert, it was a raspberry cake with some mousse. Overall- service was amazing, dinner was fantastic. I would come back and try their a la carte menu in the future.

Came here for their lunch tasting menu. Everything was great, from the food to the service! While their courses weren't necessarily super innovative or creative (it's a very classically executed French-inspired restaurant), everything was of the highest quality. And you really can't beat 5-6 delicious courses for only £37.5 pp! Standouts: Soft butter from the Italian countryside spread atop slices of their rustic bread. Luxurious lemon-y sorbert dessert. Omgsogood. Warning - still AND sparking water cost a hefty £6 per bottle, and the champagne they pour at the beginning is *not* free (derp...). If you don't care for paying extra for drinks, ask for tap, and make sure you really want the champagne! I chalk this up to a cultural misunderstanding, because in some of the restos in the States, still / sparkling water is free.

I LOVED this one Michelin star restaurant hehe I was unfortunately more than an hour late for my reservation, and yet the kind lady at the front still made room for my party (so thankful!!!). I ordered the tartar, Beef Wellington with Foie Gras (an extra ~£25), strawberry dessert, and Chocolate Sphere (yes... I ordered two desserts and I'll explain why later) The tartar came in multiple small pieces, and each has its own distinguishing flavor. I really, really enjoyed it a lot :) The beef Wellington was SO good!!!!!! The outside was the perfect amount of crispy and flaky, and the meet inside was just so tender. It wasn't too salty (which I find is a big problem in a lot of American restaurants back home), and was simply delish! Now I ordered the Gariguette Strawberry and Earl Grey trifle with strawberry sorbet. I literally got zero bites in before my friends Chocolate Sphere won me over. The chocolate sphere has milk ice cream and honeycomb in it, and sounds exactly as it sounds (look at the video I posted to see what I'm talking about). Hot chocolate is poured over the sphere, and the walls of the sphere slowly melts. I ordered my own sphere for ~£10 and was sooooo happy as the waiter actually let me pour the hot chocolate on the sphere myself and even took a video of it for me (SUCH an awesome memory). On top of that, I absolutely loved the dessert itself as well. PS the pre-desert lemon meringue was phenomenal! The service was extraordinary- very friendly, yet professional. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal there! I only wish Gordon Ramsay had visited the restaurant when I was there (he had come in the day before!). Very much so deserving of its 5 star rating, and also of its Michelin star!

Our experience at Petrus last night was absolutely unforgettable. As American tourists, we JUST HAD to go to a Ramsay restaurant (my cat's name is Ramsay for goodness sake). We knew the food would be great and the service would be amazing, and somehow our expectations were exceeded. We went all out and ordered the 7 course tasting menu (with the cheese trolley addition) and the Prestige wine pairing. The chef sent out an unexpected pre- amuse bouche and at the end of the meal, post dessert chocolate and jellies. It's such a nice touch when you get a little something extra. My husband and I immensely enjoyed watching the wait staff while we waited between courses. We have been to fine dining restaurants before, but have never seen such efficiency. No staff member ever just stood. They were constantly scanning the room to see where to go next and did so with such grace that I felt like I was watching a ballet. The sommelier was incredible at explaining why each wine was chosen to accommodate the upcoming dish. Every wine paired remarkably with each course. Since the cheese trolley was an addition, the sommelier gave us a few options (all cheeses pair differently, and there were quite a few cheeses to try). So he poured us two glasses of different wines (one to pair with hard cheeses and one for the soft). Let me tell you, even coming from "the cheese state" in the US, I have never tasted cheese like this. The flavors were intense and mature, unlike anything I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the cheese trolley to all serious cheese lovers, but do not expect cheddar lol. I will post pictures of each course because I can not begin to explain the incredible food and the amazing flavor combinations. It's just something you have to experience. I will say that my favorite course was the third course (the scallop). And while I'm not much of a sweet tooth, the dark chocolate lava in the middle of the dessert cake, paired with olive oil ice cream was worth the trip all on its own. If you have the means to dine at Petrus, do it. The whole experience and the food is absolutely indescribable.

If you've been following my reviews for a while, you'll know that we typically do a ton of research (which usually includes a bracket) when trying to choose a restaurant in a different city. This was no different - we were celebrating our anniversary while in London (well, to be fair - we celebrated our anniversary in every city we hit on this trip), and we knew we wanted something special. Our research started with a broad field of places, and in short order, they started to blend together. Then, we saw one of Chef Ramsay's restaurants, and we perked up. Soon enough, we were comparing his restaurants only, and had settled on Petrus. We were excited to try one of his restaurants. We were excited that it is Michelin-starred. We were intrigued by the menu options, and fully expecting a fantastic meal and evening. We had a late reservation on our final night in London, as we wanted to be sure we had time to get back to the hotel to get cleaned up after a day spent exploring. So, gussied up and ready for a good meal, we hit the tube and walked our way to the restaurant. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once we stepped through that front door, the magic hit. We were given a friendly greeting, our coats were taken, and we were shown to a table in the back. There isn't much of a view (unless you like looking at the street and a restaurant across the way), but I actually liked the ambiance inside. It was open, dim without being obnoxious, with kind of an eclectic feel. It didn't take much consideration for us to decide on the tasting menu, and of course we paired that with the wine selections (the classic wines - no need to get crazy, now). After ordering, we sat back and waited to be awed. And awed we were! Chef's compliments came out first - a toast with thinly sliced mushrooms and a fried ball of deliciousness started out the evening (I'm almost certain they'd call those two things something completely different...) The mushrooms on toast sounds simple, but it was quite delicious. The mushroom was very thinly sliced, and there was a sauce - not too overpowering - between them and the toast that held it all together. Next up was an amuse bouche of Yuzu Chawanmushi, which was a custard in miso soup. It was interesting. Course one was Norfolk quail with morels, pancetta and charred lettuce, to which they added an au jus. The quail was good, but kind of difficult to get off the bone. I was afraid I'd be hacking at it with my fork and knife, only to have it go flying off the plate, skittering over the tablecloth, before ending up on the floor. Course two was an Orkney scallop with braised kombu, bacon and egg sabayon, which was very good. Scallops can be really hit or miss with me, but I was pleased to find that this one was perfectly cooked, and paired really well with the kombu and bacon bits. Course three was a small piece of Cornish brill, covered in cuttlefish and served with a cep Bolognese. This dish was my favorite by far. The brill and the cuttlefish worked really well together, and the sauces helped bring out the flavors, instead of being too overpowering. I'd order that dish again. For course four, we both chose the Herdwick lamb, which was presented perfectly cooked and accompanied by a miso gratin, soy beans, pickled mouli and a another au jus. It was hard to remember what was what once the plate was set in front of me, so all I remember is wishing there was another piece of lamb on the plate. Our palate cleanser was a lemon meringue, done fancy style. The meringue on top of the lemon foam was light and airy, and the lemon wasn't too strong (not that there's such a thing for me, but the hubs typically isn't a fan of citrus). Dessert was pure craziness. It was a black forest cake - again, done fancy-style. The mousse was rich and creamy, and the cherry sorbet was a perfect, not-too-tart complement to the decadent chocolate. They even created some realistic-looking cherries to serve on top. It was divine. And just when I felt like having one more bite would surely split the seams of my new dress, they brought out four truffles. I think they were some kind of dark chocolate ginger, but I really couldn't tell you, having opted to save the dress. And wouldn't you know, right after the truffles, they brought out a coconut-something nougat. I was in the middle of trying to talk myself into trying a bite of at least one of them, if not both, when they brought out another couple pieces of chocolate in celebration of our anniversary! At this point, I turned to my husband and told him that if they tried to bring one more dish, I'd stab their fingers with the chocolate truffle. Thankfully, they showed mercy on my poor (expanding) stomach, and ended the meal there. We were stuffed, but more importantly, we were impressed. Every item they set in front of us was beautifully presented and enjoyable to consume.

I spent my birthday dinner here on July 11th, with my husband, 6 y/o son, and my father. Absolutely amazing and lovely meal. The food was incredible (the fois gras and the duck were two of my favorites , along with praline soufflé). The wine was lovely, but there service was incredible. They were wonderful for my birthday but they treated my son and his stuffed Roo (from Winnie the Pooh) like absolute royalty, I would recommend many times over. Worth the cost for sure and deserves the Michelin star!

Friend and I dined here for their lunch prix fixe menu. Our consensus was Petrus is a very solid 4 stars. While we both liked most things, we did not love love it. All dishes came with a mini croquette with chives and a little soup. For my starter, I ordered a greens ravioli with duck egg yolk and a red wine sauce, the main a chicken dish with bourguignon sauce, and the dessert a grapefruit dessert with blood orange. The chicken was very tender and the grapefruit dish was very refreshing. In addition to the courses there were also palette cleansers in between. The first palette cleansers was a fried fish piece with a curry mayo. The palette cleansers between the main and the dessert was a mango ice with cream of some sort. I did find a hair in mine which was disappointing. The last thing that they served us with a salted chocolate with some sort of cake inside. It was a bit sour and I wasn't too fond of it. Our server was very knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. We were very full after the lunch so it was definitely money well spent. Would recommend to try.

As a newbie to the Michelin Star dining experience, I don't know that I can write a review worthy of our experience. But it certainly makes me want to keep trying Michelin restaurants! We were a bit early for our reservation, but everyone made a fuss over us when we arrived. The decor was fairly minimal...definitely more modern in nature with the focal point being the wine display in the centre of the restaurant. Mr. Snarky is able to pull off the 'I'm here, impress me' vibe... meanwhile I'm like the kid who has finally been allowed to sit at the adults' table. We were provided with the wine menu in addition to the food menu... it was massive. I decided to have a cocktail to start with while Mr. Snarky had his usual Diet Coke. We were tempted by nearly everything on the menu, but in the end, we did want the full experience, so we chose the Discovery of Petrus Tasting Menu. The waiter asked us if we had any food allergies/intolerances, so I mentioned that I am lactose intolerant, but asked if they could just consult me on any dishes with dairy because mine isn't straightforward... and they did so I was able to make a decision on whether or not to have the original dish or a modified dish! I can't tell you how annoyed I get that lactose intolerances are treated all the same and that restaurants don't consult their customers to fully understand it, so I really appreciated that the waiter checked with me before each dish. They brought us some bread, butter, and some warmed olive oil from Provence. The olive oil was beautiful... it had a floral quality to it, a hint of lavender. They kept asking if we wanted more bread, but we were not there to fill up on bread ;). There were two amuse bouches, one of which was a soup. Because of my lactose intolerance, I had a consomme made of mushrooms. I never understood the allure of a consomme, until now. I could happily have a bowl of it! I asked the sommelier if he could recommend a full bodied red wine. Originally I thought about adding the wine pairings to my tasting menu, but the last time I had wine pairings, I ended up with loads of unfinished glasses on the table because I only enjoyed a couple of them, so I thought best to stick with one... or two glasses. I don't know the name of the wine, but it was the best glass of wine I have ever had. There was a hint of spice making it warm, but it had a lovely dark berry flavour. It was smooth and it didn't give me heartburn. Mr. Snarky later told me it was a £40 glass of wine... so not something you drink while watching t.v. in your pajamas. I've decided to give some highlights of the dishes, otherwise we'll be here all night. Mr. Snarky's favourite dish of the night was scallop with braised kombu, bacon, and egg sabayon. My favourite dish of the night was the roast sweetbread with almond and black truffle. Admittedly it was the dish I was the most worried about because I had never had a sweetbread before, but it was lovely! The sweetbread was tender, almost buttery and the taste profile of the sweetbread with the almond and black truffle was so delicious that I wanted more. Who knew I'd be a fan of sweetbreads?! The flavour combinations on the pigeon were a bit surprising... especially the avocado, but it was delicious. Although there was a bit of tendon (or something) that was making it difficult to cut through. I nearly had a 'Pretty Woman' moment, you know when she flicks the snail across the restaurant. Fortunately my pigeon remained on my plate. I was excited about the Raspberry souffle for dessert, but the waiter informed me that it was full of dairy, so I had the Caramelised Braeburn apple, lime, mint, and kiwi sorbet. I did have a small bite of Mr. Snarky's Raspberry souffle, even though he didn't want to share at all. The souffle was creamy, but light although I found the rosemary in the ice cream overpowering. my dessert was not just beautiful to look at, but the way they were able to get such a strong flavour from the apples made it absolutely delicious. And you have to eat each element together as they balance each other... sweet and tart. If you want a dessert that isn't heavy, but is still sweet and rich, the Caramelised apple is the way to go. They also brought us a little treat at the end, blood orange fruit jellies. I think they should box those up and sell them. I'd definitely buy a box. They would make great gifts, if I didn't eat them first. The staff made us feel at ease and welcomed. I think they were quite proud that they were our first Michelin Star experience. When we told them it was our anniversary, they invited us down to see the kitchen. I know it is probably rare, but I was really hoping Gordon would be in the kitchen yelling out profanities, but he wasn't. However, I did see that they have a Chef's Table and that is now on my bucket list!

We came here on the four course menu, which is actually great value for a michelin star restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly and courteous. Our sommelier was especially helpful and friendly - the white wine we had was so delicious. The dining room has classic simple decor, as with many michelin star restaurants, with a feature of a walk in wine cellar in the centre of the room. We had a few canapes to start which were all delicious while we enjoyed our glass of champagne. I had the cod agnolotti to start, which was really superb. Perfectly cooked. I then had the brill with new potatoes which was also very good - though i'd day good rather than amazing. I adored our palate cleanser of watermelon granita, melon and lime sorbet...so divine that I was making some rather expressive noises! Dessert was an absolute treat. The chocolate tart was so dark and moreish and the cheese plate was really excellent quality. A great selection of cheeses - the goats cheese was marvelous. Fantastic service, wine and food - the trifecta! I wholeheartedly recommend!

What's to say...IT WAS AMAZING!! We had the tasting menu, including the cheese. I can not say enough of the food each course was better than the last. The sommelier really knew his wine, and overall the staff was wonderful. Truly a memorable experience, I'm am so glad I got the opportunity to eat there!

Absolutely amazing. We went for lunch and had a wonderfully surprising experience. Every single course was well done, flavorful and well presented with gifts from the chef arriving throughout. Our daughter is vegetarian and that menu was just as wonderful. Well thought out wine list for all budgets and a master craftsman at the bar.

Great dinner experience for our London trip. Wanted to dine at Gordon Ramsay's flagship restaurant but couldn't get a reservation... so we made a reservation at Petrus instead. Turned out to be a great choice! Food was delicious and the right amount. My favorite was the scallop appetizer. Service was warm and the right amount of attention. My husband and I had a great night there. Highly recommend!

Let me start off by saying that the food and wine were both amazing which is the important part. However, the difference between a restaurant with 1 Michelin star and a restaurant with 3 is often service and atmosphere. The good is generally phenomenal at all of them. We opted for the tasting menu with the wine pairing which consisted of 2 amuse bouches and 6 courses, including 2 desserts, one being their signature. The scallops were amazing and the cod was the best fish I've ever eaten. The lamb was delicious but I wasn't wow'd which was slightly disappointing as it was the main course. The real trouble came with the service. Now let's start off by saying we showed up pretty early for our reservation, but it's not the type of place that turns over tables and the gladly seated us early. There is an art to top-quality service where you are present but not visible. The wait staff at Petrus does not subscribe to this theory. They would be constantly doing laps around the restaurant, always looking at your table and making eye contact. Especially early in the service this was very uncomfortable. It became less noticeable as the restaurant filled up but it left a bad impression. I will say that we were very fortunate and were given a brief tour of the kitchen and introduction to the head chef which was absolutely above-and-beyond. I almost feel bad giving them 4 stars but I really felt like the service could have been less intrusive.

This was my first Michelin star experience and did not disappoint! Being a big fan of Gordon Ramsay, I searched far and wide for reservations to his restaurants months before going to London and got a coveted reservation at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, but due to unfortunate circumstances, I had to cancel it and could not find anything for months. Luckily, Petrus was there to save my dream of dining at a GR Restaurant with a perfect reservation time! After looking at the menu, I knew I made the right choice. As soon as we showed up, we were warmly welcomed, the servers taking our jackets and guiding us to our table. The restaurant was pretty empty at this point. We chose the tasting menu which actually is cheaper than a three-course meal at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (even though we are treating ourselves, it's good to know!). With the tasting menu, we got about eight courses along with some amuse bouches! Everything was impeccable: service, timing, temperature, DELICIOUSNESS! My favorite dishes of the night were definitely the foie gras and the dessert. The foie gras was huge! You can't find foie gras like that anywhere for the price you're paying. Before the entrees, we were served scallops and fillet of brill. I usually don't like cooked fish (only sashimi/sushi please!) but this was the most amazing fish I've ever had, it melted like butter in my mouth. I wish all fish tasted like that. For entrees, my mother and I ordered the duck, while my dad ordered the pork belly. Both were amazing. We refreshed our palette with a light pre-dessert of lemon meringue and onto the most amazing part, the dessert: the amazing, famous melting chocolate sphere! Servers poured hot fudge over this shiny, chocolate ball which melted away to reveal ice cream and honeycomb. To this day, I still dream about this dessert. There are a few imitations here in the US, but they can't compare to something straight out of a Gordon Ramsay restaurant! After dessert, we ordered cheese and fruit which were quite yummy and fresh. We also ordered a cappuccino and they were nice enough to not only give us truffles on dry ice but also a box of chocolates to go with the coffee! Wow! PS: The waitress, noticing we were American, was so thoughtful and kind to print out little menus of everything we ate and give them to us as souvenirs! That is some true Michelin star service right there!
