Phat Bites - Review - Donelson - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Phat Bites is Donelson’s long-running artist enclave that feels like Mad Max on acid. Technicolor street art covers the walls, mismatched vintage furniture fills out the dining room, what appears to be the body of an old race car hangs from the ceiling, and the dim bar looks like the galley of a pirate ship. Once you process the unhinged interior, order from Julie, the chirpy chef/owner who is more than happy to explain the long menu. photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin photo credit: Casey Irwin Phat Bites is an all-day joint with a menu to match, but zero in on the deli offerings—particularly the Hot & Cold Sweats, a towering sandwich stuffed with marinated cold-cut sirloin (served rare), ghost pepper cheese, caramelized onion, and bacon. Plus, every sandwich comes with crunchy dill-forward pickles, tangy chow-chow, and a side. Always grab one of their Froot Loop Rice Krispies for dessert. Food Rundown photo credit: Casey Irwin Hot & Cold Sweats Don’t let the somewhat offputting name throw you: this sandwich is a dream. Tender, juicy cold-cut sirloin—served medium-rare—takes center stage, and the result is a bite that just may ruin any other sandwich for you. The ghost pepper cheese adds a nice zip to counter the sweetness of the caramelized onions, and the ciabatta hoagie roll is pillowy soft. Mac N’ Chz Creamy, a tad peppery, and perfectly cooked, this mac is an excellent supporting act for all of the diva sandwiches at Phat Bites. And if you really love it, you can order it as a main too (with hot chicken on top). Pretentious Mullet This burger feels like a late night at an East Nashville dive bar. Things may get sloppy and a mullet may be involved, but it’s ultimately a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Double patties stack up on a nicely toasted bun and are topped with ghost pepper cheese, chipotle hummus, and charred jalapeños, making this an actually-spicy burger worth your time. Enjoy it while wearing Pit Vipers for the full effect. Rice Krispies Phat Bites’ signature desserts are mile-high squares of sugary goodness. The flavors change constantly, but you’ll find options to channel childhood nostalgia (Fruit Loops), classics like chocolate, or savory-sweet takes like coconut-sunflower-seed. Our favorite part is the soft and crumbly texture—these rice krispies won’t be yanking out any fillings." - Bailey Freeman

Where to Eat in Nashville’s Donelson Neighborhood | Eater Nashville

"As seen on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Phat Bites represents one of the funkiest and most unique venues in the area. Occupying a renovated garage and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus all-day brunch on Sundays, the menu features a long list of wraps and sandwiches, a variety of hummus options, plenty of vegetarian choices, and rotating specials. Omelet and waffle bar, banana bread french toast, and bottomless mimosas await at brunch. At night, particularly on weekends, the vibe changes drastically from a diner to a dive, where quirky décor surrounds a large bar that offers the usual spirits and craft brews, plus a late-night food menu served until 1:30 a,m." - Justin Bonnema

We picked up my sister at the airport and wanted to get a bite to eat close by. Pat Bites was recommended by several people. They have the best food. All around great place.

Google
Almost like a dive bar but with good food! Vegan options was a big draw. Both myself and my kids enjoyed our meal..I'll be returning for sure.

Google
Cool funky place with great food. We stopped here’s 9-10 years ago and loved it and had to try it again when we were back in town and it did not disappoint! Chicken parm sandwich and quarantine Mac and cheese and can’t forget the garlic hummus and pita!! Wish we lived closed to get this more often!

Great food, friendly staff, in a funky atmosphere! The food hit all the marks, and none of the decor matched and was chaotically placed felt perfect.

Phat Bites is good food, good fun, good people. We showed up at a slower time and were there as it got busier. The folks there were extremely friendly and helpful to help us newbies navigate the menu and get us to the food we were "urging" for. The food was delish and we will be back again when we are in town.

I’ve been to Fat Bites twice before and had great food, but this visit was disappointing. We were served chicken that didn’t seem cooked right. When we brought it up, the server said, “It’s a tendon, but ok,” which felt dismissive. As we were leaving, she told my friend he didn’t pay for his drink — even though she had taken his order and already given him change. She swapped out his cash for what she said was the “correct” amount. He pointed out that he did pay, and she eventually apologized when she realized the mistake. They did give us a refund for the chicken, which we appreciated, but the whole situation still felt off — like we were being treated with suspicion or like it was retaliatory. We let the first piece of chicken slide, but the second still had a weird texture. Maybe we were overthinking it, but the way everything was handled made us feel uncomfortable. We could have been wrong about the chicken being undercooked— either way it still felt as if they were taking it as a personal attack when it wasn’t. Really disappointing experience, especially since we had great visits before.

Google
Great dive bar - with outdoor seating - no frills. But the food is great & specials for happy hour 2/1 beers. Went to meet our son - and would go back to see him there again. The wings were great - spicy hot. The nachos were very good, but water or sauce made the nachos in the bottom of the bowl soggy, so ate most but not all of this dish - taste was great. I did not go home hungry. There are a lot of smokers sitting outside!

Google
This was my 3rd or 4th time at this location. The food is great with many options. No fountain drinks but they have a large variety of canned and bottled drinks to choose from. The atmosphere is different than most places. Unmatched furniture, peeling paint, and graffiti on the walls with a funk/hippie vibe. I believe they play live music on the weekends. Overall, it is a fun place to relax and eat. They also have outside seating with shade on some tables. Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Exceptional flavors. Rueben was delicious and served with potatoes and marinated cold veggies. So delicious! We always order the hummus to share. It's fantastic! My husband got the New Reality. Steak sandwich. He enjoyed it too. We each could only finish half our sandwiches. The live music is great. No cover bands here. Excellent performances! Good crowd tonight (Friday). It's really not a place for children IMO. Funky bar to the side. I'd give it five stars if the bathroom had a MAJOR remodel. It actually hinders me drinking because I don't want to use it.

Yelp
It is a very casual, relaxed place with eclectic decor. They were playing 80s pop when we were there and a live group was moving to set up. Ordering was a little confusing but the order taker filled us in. You order at the counter and you are given a pager. When the food is ready your pager will activate and your food will be in the order pick-up area. Our party of three had various sandwiches with sides. My Ruben on rye was very good. Our group also had a steak sandwich with kale salad and a Silencia sandwich with a Caesar salad. No complaints about the food.

Yelp
Loved the place, it has that Nashville vibe! Stopped here on our way to knoxville. Ordered Pretentious Mullet, veggie burger, grilled cheese. Burgers came with Mac n cheese & grilled veggies. Food was served to table even though we were given the buzzer! I have never been a fan of mac n cheese, but this mac n cheese is just amazing! Burgers were delicious, wife loved the hummus in the veggie sandwich! Live music was icing on the cake! I would have given this place 5 star, only reason was the bathrooms. They are way too dark to even use!

Yelp
Dranks - didn't grab alcohol but our friend did and said their Happy hour is amazing 3-7pm. Hope that's correct, I trust them as they said this is one of their fave spots! Grub - everyone was happy with what they ordered. The food is super eclectic and unique flavor/texture profiles. I got the Blackbean burger add pepper jack or ghost pepper and it was phenomenal. Both sides of the ciabatta had hummus and it was good! Recommend! The sliced potatoes were ok and the veggies slaw type side I didn't even try, but I was so full from the burger! My husband got the Ninja Bomb wrap and he said it was good and he'd get it again but said he also wants to try a few other things too - so we will be back! One friend got this hummus plate and another friend got the special smoked chicken. It all looked good. Ambiance - we came during the day and as bright as it was outside it was equally dark inside lol. They had a drum kit and stage set up but no live music. They had kid seats too and some comfy seats as well as normal table and chairs. Inside was just as eclectic as their food. My husband said this place is way over 3.5 stars and I totally agree. It has a very hole in the wall feel and that is part of its charm.

Tony J.

Yelp
Mac N Cheez was the best of the best. Not the most crispy but very flavorful. Didn't understand the menu quite but made it work. Service was good and cannot complain. The seating was plenty with it being decorated nicely outdoors. The bar is also a place to visit for a nice sit down. Donelson area has a gem!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally checked it out during my lunch break. I was so excited coming in and was NOT disappointed. I ordered the New Reality sandwich with a side of the skillet potatoes. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOOOOOD. I didn't realize that the marinated veggies came with my meal, but I'm so glad they did because they were unlike any kind of little side veggie salad (like a carrot, cucumber, onion slaw with seasonings I think) I've had before. I loved how they were savory and flavorful because I feel like most veggie salads like that have a sweeter kind of taste. Fast casual style where you go up to the counter to order, they give you a pager, and you go pick up your food, which came out quickly and had great sized portions. My boyfriend ordered the Wisconsin Butter burger with a side of Mac and cheese (Mac and cheese is creamy) which he liked a lot. The vibe on the inside is so cute with their trippy art on the walls, super cool ambiance, and I'd love to go see a show there one day or order a drink (when not on my lunch break lol). Really really cannot wait to go again. I am so happy I have leftovers of my sandwich for lunch tomorrow! Definitely recommend. I want to try everything.

Yelp
Been to this place a couple times and I like their sandwiches. Its very good! You should come and try it

Yelp
If I only had two words to describe Phat Bites they would be psychedelic eclectic. The walls are covered in spray-painted murals. Lights, skulls, gas lines, a mini airplane, and more are hanging from the walls. The people were very nice and welcoming. The live music was a great touch and the food was amazing.

Yelp
Loved this place!!!!! Very cool environment, excellent staff working the counter and outstanding food!!!! Would NEVER drive by without eating here again! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Popped in Phat Bites for a quick bite before a wedding down the street. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap served with Skillet Potatoes. The veggies were fresh and the chicken good. I enjoyed the crispy edges of the skillet potatoes My buddy ordered the BLTremendous and that thing was loaded with bacon. It's a cool vibe inside, full of things to keep you busy while you wait on your food to be prepared fresh.
google avatar

Tammi W.

Yelp
Stopped here because it's a DDD spot. I got the macaroni and cheese dish with chicken and bacon in it. The side of carrot slaw was delicious! Neat bar environment with live music.

Yelp
Everything we have ever ordered here is so flavorful !!! I love phat bites & the good vibes and great food. The Pesto hummus & the sesame noodles are always a hit. The buffalo chicken wrap my friend ordered looked & smelled delightful. The surprise fried potatoes it came with were also immaculate- a southern staple the service is always good and they are happy to recommend their favorites.
google avatar

Yelp
Every time I go in I think it might be better, but really isn't. I was the only person for a while and I still had to wipe my table down and the tray that held my food was greasy on the bottom. My wrap was good enough. One thing I don't get is that it is supposed to have that cool hippie vibe, but they use a lot of plastic, foam take away boxes and don't recycle cans or compost. so.... This hippie won't come back.

James S.

Yelp
Food is always tasty at a reasonable price. Took a long time to figure out how to pay as the register was not functioning properly. Inside is just as I remembered. Bar meets band stage.

Yelp
I think we found our new favorite spots to grab a bite to eat! We had a friend visiting and he wanted to try out any Nashville restaurant that had been featured on the Food Network. Phat Bites had been on my list for a while but it is a bit far from where we leave to just drop in. Parking - plenty of it. Decor - super eclectic but it just seemed to fit the restaurant. Drinks - there is a separate bar area from the main restaurant that you can order alcohol at and bring over to the main area to eat. Food - amazing. Both my husband and our friend ordered the Reuben sandwich. Our friend said it was THE BEST Reuben he had ever had and he's a sandwich guy. My husband said it was in his Top 3 Reubens. He's the picky one and he devoured the entire thing so fast, I was still prepping my salad when he finished! They both loved that the meat was on the thin side--no super chewy pieces, the sauerkraut was good and the amount was not overwhelming and they really loved the sauce. I got to enjoy some of my husband's skillet potatoes (perfectly seasoned) and the marinated veggies. I ordered a Julia's Caesar salad. I asked for the Caesar dressing to be on the side because I hate a heavily-dressed salad. I did not even need to use the dressing. The pesto on the chicken served as a delicious dressing for the entire salad. There was a very generous portion of chicken too. The salad came with a huge serving of hummus and a warm pita on the side. I could not finish my meal because there was so much food. Our friend kept saying, "I'm so jealous that you guys live in Nashville and can come here whenever you want." I've never had anyone say that before! I can't wait to go back. Phat Bites definitely earned my rare five-star rating!

Yelp
Food got me sick. The bartender had no idea who ordered what food in my group and I ended up getting my food to go after waiting nearly an hour or more. The place was crowded and maybe a touch too dingy for me.
google avatar

Sharon T.

Yelp
This old auto shop got converted into this eclectic, hipster, dive bar and eatery. They transformed it for many bands to showcase their talent. The food here are made in the house. It's fascinating to see the graffiti art on the wall and all the unique, colorful artistry behind their interior decor hanging around. They do need updates i their furniture, but I believe this is what makes their place one of a kind. As far as the food I loaded up in with their "Phat special" menu. I enjoyed their pita and hummus appetizer and the salad I got was good. The food wasnt as memorable as the decor. But it is a great place for vegans to vegetarians. There bar and their night life must be a hit. In the area..
google avatar

Nate M.

Yelp
The reviews are decent and I was in the area so why not pop-in? First off, it was very dark in here and nothing looked like it had been cleaned in quite a while, but I decided to stick out. I ordered the hot and cold sweats sandwich and the Ruben. The H&S sandwich was disgusting. The meat was almost all fat and the taste was definitely off, not exaggerating, it was sort of like an old wet sponge. One bite and I was out. Not to mention the piece of wood I found in my one bite? I don't really know what it was. See picture. The Rueben was halfway decent, but just an OK sandwich couldn't save this meal. The sides that came with each sandwich were also, inedible. Both sides, skillet potatoes and marinated veggies, tasted and looked way past their due date. The marinated veggies looked as if they sat out all night and were then thrown back in the fridge for an hour before being served. Like I stated before, cleanliness doesn't seem to be a priority here as the outdoor patio had cigarette butts everywhere and junk loaded carts. I hope they start paying attention to some of the similarly low rated reviews and start making of few changes.

Yelp
Order from the counter or the Bar! Sit and wait for the best food you've ever had! Tender steak with pesto sauce and much more! The Shroom burger just melted in my mouth and so much cheese! The skillet potatoes are so tasty! Not a fan of the spicy pickle and veggies but I give this place 5 Stars!!! Great friendly staff and environment! Everyone was friendly even the locals!
google avatar

Alyson M.

Yelp
What a quirky place. The vibe is very smoke shop, meets reggae night, meets 2 for 1 locals happy hour spot, meets gourmet sandwiches and bites. I love how every time I go I notice something new in the eclectic decor. The staff is always friendly and chill. The food is a highly curated menu of fresh flavorful entrees, burgers, sandwiches and salads to make everyone happy. My regular order is the Hero's everywhere sandwich with fresh chicken, goat cheese, cranberry mayo, lettuce and tomato on sourdough bread. So good. During my last visit I had grilled chicken Caesar wrap. It was really good. Everything I have tried so far from the menu is memorable.

Yelp
Fun funky spot. Had the Caprese sandwich and it was fantastic! Flavors blended perfectly
google avatar

Yelp
Favorite local bar! Service and music are always fantastic. Food is high end bar food. Best you'll find in Nashville. Left my water bottle there, called them to put it aside until the morning. They responded via text immediately saying it was secured! :) Excellent customer service. Excellent drinks. Excellent vibes.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the vibe of this place. We showed up midday with a large group and they were able to accommodate. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the Caprese sandwich. It had excellent flavor and the ciabatta hoagie was soft and fresh. The skillet potatoes were excellent. My daughter ordered the wings and Mac and cheese. Just a heads up that the wings are smoked and not fried. She did not love the Mac and cheese - but southerners are picky about Mac and cheese. They had tons of bottled/canned drinks to choose from. The menu has a variety of different foods to pick from. I would totally come back here and recommend to others.

Yelp
#fatjared say...they were on Diners Drive ins and Dives for a reason. This place is a DIVE all the way. Food though, very average. I brought my wife here, and forgot how divey the place was. Not that we care, but you need to come in with the right expectations. Almost everyone who sits outside was smoking, and with a pregnant wife it wasn't the best. I got the tacos, and my wife got the Ninja Bomb Sandwich. The tacos were above average. Had all 3 protein options (steak, chicken, tofu), there was a perfect amount of sauce, well cooked veggies, soft tortillas, and a good flavor. My wifes Ninja Bomb was below average. The fruity salad dressing overpowered the bite. We didn't finish it, and that is a very difficult for a guy like me to do. Inside it is run down, but it should be, and they had Yu-Gi-Oh on the TV so it got me hyped up with how much I love that show. Yes I said love, present tense, because I do STILL love that show. Overall, average experience, but probably won't be back. It's fun to try, but not a normal hang out for me.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Highly recommend stopping in and ordering any of their selections. I have several favorites. Although I miss the old location with the graffiti carwash, the new location has a lot more seating and has a large outdoor seating area. Julie the owner is super nice. Very relaxed atmosphere.
google avatar

Phil M.

Yelp
Hippie vibes with an eclectic array of sandwich options. Sandwiches are really good, the flavor pairings are different but pair well together. Will go back to try some other food items
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
I was just rolling through town on business. Heard about this place and near hotel. Solid food, great crew, interesting craft and not so craft brews all at a low price. Great stories and cast of characters at the bar.
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
Not sure why this spot only has 3 stars! My husband and I popped in on Tuesday night for an after-live music date night bite, and we had a great experience! We sat at the bar and enjoyed tofu tacos, a steak quesadilla, queso, salsa and chips, they were all delicious. It all tasted fresh and homemade, and the quesadilla was perfectly greasy and hearty following all the wine I enjoyed earlier in the evening Food came out quick, and the bartender was awesome! Very happy with this affordable, laid back dive, and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I talked to Mekai at the front, was given a great introduction to the Phat Bites Universe! He recommended the Heroes Everywhere sandwich, and man I'm glad he did, it was amazing! Grilled chicken with goat cheese and cranberry mayo!!! Lets talk about it!!! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, 10/10! Phat Bites is the place to be!
google avatar

Bria L.

Yelp
Went in for early lunch. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, which came with potatoes and veggies. I ordered at the front then was given a call button for when the order was ready. If I was to critique anything, I would just say maybe a bit of an upgrade on the decor inside to make it a cozier place to be. There is a lot of chaotic decor and paint chipping. I could see this being a good spot for hangover food. The inside is dimly lit, the food portions are good and is a low key atmosphere. The sandwich had a good kick to it for being a buffalo sandwich. Everything was good. HOURS: Sunday - 10:30AM-2AM Monday - 3PM-2AM Tuesday - 10:30AM-2AM Wednesday - 10:30AM-2AM Thursday - 10:30AM-2AM Friday -10:30AM-2AM Saturday - 10:30AM-2AM PARKING: Plenty of lot parking

Yelp
Haven't been in a while, I forgot how good it was! The food was great and they have live music every night! Highly recommend trying it! Great local spot :)
google avatar

Lindsey M.

Yelp
The food was always good but I can't eat here anymore. Steady decline in service and food offered. Med-rare steak cooked med-well, jam was fermented in the ramekin. It's impossible to not notice the health code violations and grime everywhere. Like raw chicken sitting out in the sun near the smoker for over an hour-with a dingy table cloth covering it. It's fallen far from its DDD days! I hope they can do better in the future.
google avatar

Melanee D.

Yelp
Sandwiches well done and that pickle is outstanding (I don't even like pickles). The side salads were noteworthy too.

John F.

Yelp
Worker at the register was extremely rude and sarcastic. Food and portions were good.
google avatar

Devin D.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for brunch and was back days later for dinner! Had the eggs benedict and a burger and can't wait to try everything else on the menu. Large portions, live music, great vibes!

Luis G.

Yelp
I love this place it has probably has best burgers in Nashville my favorite burger here is the Wisconsin style this place is just too good
google avatar

Cerena P.

Yelp
What a great spot! Sunday is bottomless mimosas for $20, they have tons of flavors to choose from. They were delicious! They was also a live band playing. Food is order at the counter, drinks are order at the bar. The decor and vibe in here is very unique, there is a lot to look at. My friend and I were taken back at first, the vibe isn't that welcoming and it was very dark. The food was great! The Mac and cheese was excellent and so creamy. This show was on Triple D so we just had to get that salad that was on the show. The lifelong salad was really delicious, tasted so fresh and the dressing was so flavorful. I loved that they gave an option to just order a small side of it. Our sandwiches were also very good and fresh. There was so much flavor and it came with a lot of food. Overall really delicious food, service was also great. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Yall come over to my house and let me teach you how to make a hamburger! That was the worst 420 hamburger ever had in my life. The bread was soggy, chewy, meat dry, bland taste. Grilled onions were greasy, scalloped potatoes were dry and close to mashed potatoes. The mac n cheese was cold didn't taste freshly made and served in a small clump of tinfoil Inside a Styrofoam box. Ambience is OK. They had live music. The building is the old two rivers Ford. So you're literally eating where they used to work on cars and change oil. The mechanics hoses still hang from the ceiling. I support local if you can cook like my Grandma and grill like my Dad. Overall sorry, i wont come back.

Yelp
It was late when we got it. There was some commotion with I'm guessing the cook and the counter help. I almost went some where else. We were told to order from the bar. Glad we stayed. The bartend was a good guy talked when he came down to pour drafts and check on us. The food was amazing and the sample if the coffee milk stout.(I'm not a stout guy) was great. Then there is the food. The food was outstanding. I had the queen b steak dinner. The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had and the steak was juice and soft. My gf had the quartile mac and cheese. Both were out of this world and definitely glad we stay. The bartender and the food saved the day. Thanks bro

Yelp
It has been many years since trying them again. Not because it was bad. There are just so many places to eat at. I got the Julius Caesar salad. That chicken is awesome, and the salad and dressing are good also. The hummus and pita on the side was also good. I got a side of sesame noodles, and they were decent, but not special. And for dessert, banana bread. It was not bad, but the French toast version looks wonderful. Salad 4.5 noodles 3 Hummus 4 Banana bread 3

Yelp
Since moving to Donelson Phat Bites has become my go to for tacos. The generous amount of ingredients they pack into the tacos is just what I like! I usually get one chicken and two steak. They include avocado, rice, beans, peppers, onions and many other things I probably forgot. LOL I drizzle the housemade sauce that comes with it on top and go to town! Unless I'm borderline starving I can only eat two out of the three because they are packed. So far I've only ordered takeout and prefer to order in the restaurant via ordering online. I can't wait for a free Sunday to try out their brunch and unlimited mimosas.

Shannon M.

Yelp
I really wish that I could rate this higher because the food and the vibe were great. Unfortunately the service is where Phat Bites fell a little short. When I ordered a to go order, there were a total of 8 people in the restaurant. I waited over 45 mins for 2 orders watching other people get served despite coming in after me. I received half of my order, waited for another 10 mins, the waitress asked what else I was waiting for, I told her, she went back to the kitchen, I waited another 5 mins, and she returned asking if I had a specific protein I ordered in which I replied " I was never asked." She walked away without asking if I did want something despite not being asked- Then waited another 10 mins to get the full order. She did apologize but I can tell that the organization of this place is unfortunately not where it's supposed to be. If we do come back it'll be a preorder so I am not stuck sitting around waiting.

Scott C.

Yelp
I have partaken of Phat Bites fantastic food for a few years now and have recommended Phat Bites to everyone I could. All that has changed as of late. I have since rescinded my recommendations. Let me explain... Again, I am a HUGE fan of the menu. But due to observations of unhygienic conditions, I cannot suggest this restaurant any longer. A couple of months ago, I watched patrons enter the dining room with dogs in tow. After deciding that this is more of a hipster type establishment and trying to "get with the program" I relented and did not say anything about the dog running around the interior dining area. But, before I finished my meal, the dog was then in its owner's lap with it's front paws now on the table surface. I thought, "Surely, someone will say something about this". No one did. I left fairly disgusted at that behavior in a restaurant dining area. On a subsequent visit, the restaurant got three strikes in one visit. Strike #1: My attention was drawn to some movement out of the corner of my eye. As I turned to see what it might be, I found it to be a mouse making itself comfortable and enjoying a bit of a delicious food item on the main dining area floor. (At least it confirmed that the food is very tasty). He hung out for about 15 mins as he completed his meal, before he left without even leaving a tip. Strike #2: while my dining partner was enjoying her meal, a look of confusion and disgust overcame her face as she pulled a piece of clear plastic from her mouth. Our best guess was that it was a piece of food wrapper from one of the meal's ingredients. She spent the rest of our visit stifling her urge to vomit what she had already consumed. Strike #3: earlier when we were entering the restaurant, we observed another patron with a small dog. I did not give it much weight this time as they were in the outside dining area. Again the dog was in it's owner's lap while he ate his meal. But, as we later departed the building after the first two strikes, there he was. Now, the dog owner I observed as I entered the restaurant was feeding his dog by laying bits of food on the tabletop for the dog to lap up as it sat on and walked around in the tabletop. With this totality of circumstance, I must rescind any recommendation that I have previously made. As a former restauranteer and a person of common sense, I can no longer submit myself, my family or friends to these unhygienic conditions. In a time of hyper vigilance against things that might effect out health, I choose to dine elsewhere. I am going to miss that menu!!

Yelp
Rey eclectic /unique restaurant. It appears to have been a former auto mechanic shop. The decor is that of a subway train graffiti artist. Great friendly service. Food was decent. I ordered the 4/20 burger . The Mac & Cheese was super over cooked and soggy.

Yelp
Food is pretty good and the outside patio is nice, but I usually only go if it's a last resort situation. Although I've never had a bad experience with the food itself, it always ends up questionable, missing something, or just straight up looking messy enough that it looks unappetizing. This place used to be my go to for anything- food, bar hangs, or drinks on the patio. Especially after gold rush closed (rip). It was always solid and the atmosphere was chill. At some point this place seemed to attract more rowdiness and less chill people. I haven't ever been at night but I can't imagine it gets any better. I used to be able to go sit at the bar on any given afternoon and be totally fine and no one would bother me, but as a woman in her 20's I can't say I'd ever willingly be alone in there now. A lot of middle aged and young men without boundaries to say the least.
