I hate giving reviews like this.... But in this instance there's no other choice. I thought I would try them out and ordered a chicken fried rice. Upon getting it home and opening the package ... the color of the chicken fried rice looked pale and different than what I'm accustomed to but I ignored that. It somehow tasted like fish. I had someone else taste it...and this taste sensation was confirmed unfortunately. Fishy. I called and left a message and ask for a refund or a credit along with my phone number. No return call back.... That's fine... If anyone else asks me how phat phat is ... I will simply tell them... Go fish.

My family and I started coming here in the beginning of 2024 and we loved everything from the presentation to the quality of our meals. We enjoyed our food and experience so much that I told my extended family and friends to check this gem out. Come February 2025 and we were super excited to go back since we hadn't been in many months... Maybe it was too high of expectations or an off day but most of what we ordered was a huge step down from last year. The soup dumplings, wontons, and mango bao tasted pretty bland. The sauces lacked the punch that Chinese vinegar usually delivers. The fried rice we had was pretty tasty but that shouldn't be the highlight of a meal. There was a sign posted that mentioned they were short-staffed however they were not only short-staffed but also seemed like they were under-trained and overwhelmed. The food came out in a reasonable time and the presentation looked great. It's just unfortunate that our overall experience was such a miss. If you're looking for an alternative and are willing to drive to the city, we've been going to Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings in Chinatown since 2019 and have yet to be let down. Back to Chicago we go...

Great food! My favorite were the szechuan soup dumplings, an absolutely must try! Definitely check out the dry chili chicken as well.

Went to this restaurant with my coworkers on a recent business trip to St Charles Illinois. My hotel was in St Charles while my colleagues were staying in Schaumburg. We were in the mood for Thai Cuisine and when we looked up Thai cruise we found this restaurant. I followed my colleagues who were staying in Schaumburg just so that we could all tryout this restaurant. On our way to the restaurant one of my colleagues who is foodie kept saying this restaurant has very good reviews. Another colleague said let’s try the food first. OMG we were not disappointed the food was so good! For me it was worth the 30 minutes drive to and from the restaurant. For my next business trip to St Charles, I think I am going to book my hotel in Schaumburg so that I can easily visit this restaurant again. They had an open concept kitchen where you could view the Chef through a glass as they prepared the ingredients that was really cool.

Very beautiful place, I love the minimal yet industrial look of the interior. The staff was super sweet. Everyone was so attentive and kind, they just seem like genuinely kind people, especially our waitress. Food was good, could be better. I felt the dumplings were a bit too thick..dough wise. The fried rice tasted good but the look wasn't so nice. The banana spring rolls and the garlic chicken wings were the best.

1. ⚠️The food is served in an unsanitary environment. There were foreign particles floating in the water that just been brought to us, and the cup for my alcoholic drink had mysterious white residue on it. When I asked the staff what it was, they couldn’t answer and simply said it was safe to drink. The manager eventually apologized, saying that they had mistakenly used the cup that had been used elsewhere, which made me even more uncomfortable. It makes me wonder how they manage their utensils. 2. There is a serious communication barrier with the staff. I don’t expect the waiter to speak perfect English, but basic communication should be possible. When I complained about the residue on my cup, the waiter mumbled and couldn’t explain what it was. He just kept repeating that it was safe to drink. 3. The taste of the dim sum is significantly worse than that of nearby dim sum restaurants. The shrimp and pork in the dim sum had no flavor whatsoever. The ingredients didn’t seem fresh, and it’s clear that this restaurant does not invest in quality ingredients.

First visit here. We were a group of 9 and EVERYONE (including return diners) was very happy with their meal selections. I thoroughly enjoyed my Black Pepper Beef and Hot and Sour Soup. Both dishes were fantastic. Looking forward to coming back!!!

Google
First time in and I was excited, unfortunately I was gravely disappointed. The atmosphere was very open however I feel like the sound bounced off the walls or something as it was very loud and not fully crowded. The staff were nice. I arrived at 5:30pm and they were out of a lot of the menu items I wanted to try which was very disappointing. The food was flavorless and under seasoned. The meat entree I ordered looked nothing like the photo, it was 75% vegetables, 25% meat ($23 was way overpriced for it). The only good item we tried was the string beans, those were actually seasoned and cooked nicely. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. There are lots of other… better options in the area.

Yelp
I was here on a double date with my cuzzos and we really enjoyed our time here! We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was already starting to fill up. We were told that items tend to sell out quick so I recommend getting here as early as you can. By 6pm this place was jam packed. Although it was busy our service throughout was consistent and quick. For my drink I tried the lychee margarita. It was refreshing and fruity. I also took a sip of my husband's hibiscus flower cocktail which had mezcal in it. This was also sweet with a hint of smokiness. As far as food we all shared a bunch of items. The portions here are similar to tapas and I recommend ordering 2-3 plates per person. If you're a big fan of sharing food and trying different items this is the place to be. My favorites here were the pork soup dumplings, steamed veggie dumplings, fried tofu and garlic chicken wings. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. This is a spot where I can see myself trying out the entire menu. IT'S THAT GOOD!!!

Yelp
Ambiance - spacious, modern, it looks like they have a 2nd floor for when it's busy Service - server was very polite and we got our food within 10-15 min Food - Garlic Chicken Wings - super crispy & wasn't too salty Sheng Jian bao - filling was on the sweeter side, edges weren't crispy Nasi Goreng - fried egg was cooked to perfection, chicken was super tender Hot and sour soup - texture was fairly thicker than I'm used to

Yelp
Wanted to get together with my cousin and she wanted to try Phat Phat. I came here a few weeks ago. This time we came at 5 pm in hopes to try the dishes that ran out last time. Also to get some of the same dishes we tried that I really liked. We arrived at 5pm and we were seated immediately. The server provided us with menus. When ahead returned we ordered our drinks. I decided to try the Sake. She dropped off our drinks and took our food orders. They did run out of the Salt and Pepper Enoki Mushroom but they did have a dish I wanted to try: Salt and Spicy Eggplant. I tried the Crispy Wontons, Crispy Shrimp with Szechwan Sauce. I had some repeat dishes but I will provide reviews on the new dishes. The Crispy Wontons were crispy and filled with shrimp,Seasame, and shallots. They were pretty good. The Salt and Spicy Eggplant had the right amount of salt and were fried perfectly. Lastly, the Crispy Shrimp was cooked perfect and was not over cooked. The sauce was really good. Overall, the food was great as usual. My cousin and her husband loved the food as well! I enjoyed the night catching up and eating! I'm sure we will be back again.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and came by for lunch with my mom. The interior was very nice and roomy. We didn't have to wait at all and was seated promptly. I very much appreciate the convenient parking lot and the clean bathrooms. We ordered a variety of items to try because I've read some of the other reviews and there was a mention that the portion is a bit smaller than expected. If I was to compare it to the other restaurants in Chinatown, then yes I would agree that the portions were smaller - especially when you take in account of the price of each item. However everything was delicious - my favorite was the hainan chicken though I did really also liked the sheng jiang baos as well.

Yelp
Came here in a group of 18 people for a bday celebration. Restaurant feels homey, with a nice high ceiling and upper seating. We had a reservation and only one table was ready when we got there, had to wait 10 minutes for other people to finish eating so that we had our other table for our big group. Employees were nice and helped us combine the tables so that we could all sit in one long table for 18 people. Entrees: 4.5/5 The dim sum here is really good! My favorites were the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao, (soup inside is piping hot) the Sheng Jian Bao, (very meaty) and Siew Mai. The crispy fish with egg floss has a nice crunch with reminds me of fries. The green beans were well cooked and seasoned, and were a nice break from all the meat I ate. Just look at the pics I had way too much food haha. Dessert: 3.5/5 I was really excited to try the Mango Sago because it is a Filipino dish (and I am Filipino duh) so I wanted to see if it reminded me of home. At first, the mango and the chewy sago pearls were sweet and fruity, but then as you leave it in your mouth and swallow it, it has a bitter and sour aftertaste which I was not a huge fan of. The sesame balls were crunchy but the red bean paste inside was average. We really appreciated how the staff gave us a free ice cream dessert with a candle on top to commentate the celebrant's bday. Overall, I really liked the hospitality of the staff, and the cleanliness and modernness of the building. The dim sum was superb! But the dessert I would skip.

Yelp
What an experience. Here early to meet a great friend & colleague, I ordered the garlic cucumber and salt & spicy eggplant. Garlic cucumber deliciously marinated and eggplant slices light & crispy. He arrived & we ordered a couple old fashioned cocktails, spicy Szechuan xiao long bao, golden sheng jian bao, beef rempah, then chocolate bao for dessert. Fast & attentive service. A little busy yet calm in an 80% full restaurant on a Tuesday night at 7p. The food was truly excellent, we wanted to order more but this turned out to be a good amount for two. A+

Shari B.

Yelp
I was in the area and their Indonesian menu caught my eye. We stopped by for lunch right when they opened and we were the first ones there. I really wanted to try their beef rempah, but unfortunately they said it wasn't ready yet. We settled on the Sichuan wontons, beef stew XLB, golden sheng jian bao and the mie goreng. I liked the classic Sichuan wontons the best and it's dipping sauce. The other dumplings weren't bad, but I just thought the Sichuan wontons were better. The mie goreng was good, spicy and very saucy. It helps to eat it with rice since it had too much sauce (spicy and salty) for me. If you are looking for the beef rempah, you might want to go later in the day to avoid disappointment. Overall, the atmosphere and decor was nice and the menu was interesting.

Lisa N.

Yelp
We tried this restaurant for lunch for the first time. It wasn't crowded when we were there. The place was large and had many tables. The decor was trendy. It looked very nice and neat. We ordered the spicy Szechuan ciao long bao, golden sheng jian bao and stir fried noodles with chicken. They were all good. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate bao. That had a mild chocolate flavor, not too sweet. Overall, the food was good. The service was great. We will come again and try other items on the menu.

Karyn M.

Yelp
Oops we did it again! We enjoyed Phat Phat so we brought friends with us for a repeat visit. We ordered everything we ordered on our previous visit, plus: beef stew, green beans, soup dumplings, phat phat chicken, won tons and chocolate bao. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. Our server was very efficient and our food was brought out fairly quickly. Our friends enjoyed phat phat as much as we did and though we first thought we over ordered--we demolished it all. We are well on our way to becoming phat phat but we couldn't be happier!

Matt H.

Yelp
The ultimate comfort lunch! There's something about just sitting in there, letting the afternoon drift by, watching the traffic, while you flip back and forth through the menu trying to remember which soup dumplings you've had, struggling to decide if you stay with what you like or go for a new one. Even if one isn't you're favorite, what, you can't slam down four and move on? I think you can. (underrated: get the green beans) Service is always quick and friendly, food is always nice and hot, and the company I go with, just the sweetest and most delightful, hence the tendency to sit while the afternoon glides by.

Yelp
I had reviewed this fine establishment before, but once again, for whatever reason, my review is no longer listed (even though it was not a negative or bad review). Phat Phat is a good pan Asian restaurant that serves Chinese and Indonesian dishes. They are known for their Baos and Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng. In my previous visits, I had their Sheng Jian Bao, Chocolate Bao, Hong Kong Mee Noodles w/ seafood in XO sauce, and Nasi Goreng. On my current visit, we ordered Crispy Fish in Egg Floss, Wok Fired Hong Kong Mee Noodles with Chicken and Vegetables, Spicy Szechuan Xiao Long Bao with pork, shrimp and Szechuan black peppercorn; Golden Sheng Jian Bao with chicken and shrimp, shrimp fried rice, Lychee margarita, and Strawberry Coconut bubble tea. The food arrived in a short time. It looked good and smelled delicious. I enjoyed trying all the dishes we ordered. The flavors of each dish were exquisite. My favorite items were the Spicy Szechuan bao and the crispy fish dish. The Lychee margarita was very good and refreshing. I asked for hot chili oil, which added a nice flavor profile to some of the dishes I had. The food was fresh and cooked well. The service was good and had been in the past well. Their menu has a good variety, and the pricing is reasonable given inflation and all. They also have some drink specials posted by their bar area, which are worth checking out. The decor of the restaurant is nice and inviting. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and well-lit. I definitely recommend checking out Phat Phat when you are in the mood for Asian cuisine.

Yelp
My mom and I were really excited to try this place because the chef is from Southeast Asia and the menu looked fun. Between the two of us, we got three things - a fried fish dish (I don't remember the exact name, apologies), the salted egg tofu appetizer, and the lemon xiao long bao. The first two things were solidly good - I'd rate them both 4/5 stars. However, we were both really disappointed with the xiao long bao. It was straight up bad, which was super disappointing because I was curious about the other XLB flavors. The waitress did mention that some people love it and some people hate it, so maybe it'll be up your alley. Unfortunately, how I felt was I could get yummier Chinese food in Chinatown or elsewhere in the city for cheaper. I wouldn't mind the price as much if the food was actually Good, but I don't personally think it's worth going out of the way to try. Especially when there are other options nearby. It is cute inside though, but just not our vibe.

Sanjay N.

Yelp
Phat Phat is a hidden gem! From the outside, it looks quite modest, but once you step inside, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how spacious and well-decorated it is. The ambience is perfect for a date night, with cozy lighting and stylish decor that creates a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, though I found it not as spicy as I personally prefer. However, each dish was packed with flavor. I particularly enjoyed the noodle dish, which had an interesting charred taste that was unique and added a great depth of flavor. The orange chicken soup dumpling was more tangy than I was expecting as I was expecting a bit of a kick compared to the orange chicken at Panda Express Overall, Phat Phat is a great go-to spot for a date or a casual night out with friends. Highly recommend checking it out!

Neal H.

Yelp
Yum! My wife and I had a few of their dumplings, including their signature soup dumplings (my favorite), and a noodle dish. All of which was delicious. The room is nice and open, in one of the older buildings in Schaumburg square. The service was polite and efficient; mind you, it was not busy during our visit. While I have had slightly better dumplings, these were up there. Check out Phat Phat!

Ritti T.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Honestly it's been hard to find really good soup dumplings after I had amazing ones in Philly. This place lived up to that. We tried ALL of their soup dumplings. My favorite was the beef stew one (the blue one) and the Szechuan (pink ones). So SO flavorful. We also had the pork ones which is pretty basic. And then there's interesting flavor ones like lemon chicken and orange chicken. My husband and brother liked these though. We also got the golden Sheng Jain Bao which was absolutely delicious. Would definitely get that again. The two things I would never get again is the phat phat chicken and their alcoholic drinks. The chicken felt so thick and dense and didn't taste good. And the alcoholic drinks didn't taste like it had any alcohol. Service was a little iffy and first. When we got seated for 20 mins no one came up to us or tried to give us water. But after that they kept checking in which was great. The indoor decoration was so cute, made it very welcoming. Definitely coming back to try some of the other entrees and get my favorite two soup dumplings!!

Owen L.

Yelp
Got here at 5 pm for date night and had an amazing time. The pork soup dumpling was flavorful and layered, just let them cool a bit. The fried tofu is a hidden gem and reminds me of a cross between a tater tot and fried cauliflower. Loved it! The service was great too as he walked us through the menu and food. Will definitely be back!

Deedee L.

Yelp
Such a cute place! Very clean and well kept. There was plenty of parking. There's also a party room upstairs. We arrived right when it opened on Friday morning so we were the first customers. Our waiter was very attentive, and continuously checked on us to make sure we were well taken cared of. The food was amazing! My favorite was the garlic cucumber, it was so refreshing! We even got an order to go (it's better fresh!) The tofu tots were really good but could use a sauce, it has a powdery finish on the outside. The stew Long bao must have been amazing because my daughter killed it and didn't offer anyone else any. The noodles were good, just more so on the sweet side so if you don't like it sweet I don't recommend. The chicken wings were probably the one of my least favorite, although it was flavorful it seemed a bit over cooked and the batter seemed a bit burnt. The sichuan wontons lacked flavor for me. I would definitely return when I'm in town.

Erin H.

Yelp
Incredibly amazing food. The wait was long and a bit disorganized but the food made up for it. I didn't get a picture of the chicken wings but they were by far the favorite of the night. Definitely save room for the chocolate buns for dessert! It was a crowded Friday night but we were still able to talk comfortably. The space is beautiful and well decorated.

Amy A.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Phat Phat for dinner a few weeks back for the first time and LOVED it!! The garlic cucumbers are simple, yet sooooo delicious! The soup dumplings are also absolutely delicious! The bao's are incredible too! The service was really friendly and helpful since it was our first time there. The server helped us navigate the menu which was appreciated. The restaurant is really open and pretty as well! We liked the decor and ambiance! We will absolutely be back to Phat Phat for dinner soon!

Yelp
A good dim sum restaurant, with a large menu 'book' with colorful pictures, Phat Phat Chinese Eatery in Schaumburg, has a large selection of dim sum, many using color to provide visual stimulation. My daughter chose this nearby restaurant from online reviews, especially since my wife really likes XLB (soup dumplings). There were four of us, dining inside on a Friday evening, and were able to get seated right away using a reservation made that same day. The inside ambience is really modern...the word trendy popped into our heads as we sat down and admired the surroundings. Since it was our first time, we ordered in two rounds once we realized the portion sizes, with the second round of dishes that we liked. My daughter ordered for us; my brother and I just enjoyed it without choosing. It was enough food for the 4 of us, with no leftovers. Spicy Szechuan Xiao Long Bao ($6.50) - 4 pieces - I enjoyed it mostly for a unique taste in a soup dumpling. Mango Bao ($7.00) - 3 pieces - It's a beautiful looking bao, almost too pretty to eat. The mango filling was very sweet. It didn't really work for us. Golden Sheng Jian Bao ($9.50) - 6 pieces - most of the table didn't care for this. I found it very doughy, but really liked the fried bottom. 2 Shanghai Xiao Long Bao ($6.50 each) - 4 pieces - these are the classic ones that we like, but on a smaller size. The broth inside had good flavor, but the top was doughy because it was too thick. Orange Chicken xiao Long Bao ($6.50) - 4 pieces - this was interesting. coming in a bright orange wrapper. It definitely tasted like Orange chicken. 2 Har Gao ($6.25 each) - 4 pieces - most people at the table liked this the best of the various dim sum. The shrimp inside was sweet, and of good quality. It wasn't so tightly packed as har gao could be, but it also meant that it wasn't very filling. Stir Fried Kwetiaw w/Shrimp ($14.50) - flat rice noodles, decent portion size, with a really good brown soy based sauce. 2 Shrimp Fried Rice ($11.50) - Light fried rice using chicken as its flavoring. It was really well made, and was a great base for all of us as we began to sample the various dim sum. Some of the dishes came with their own dipping sauce, and one ramekin of vinegar was provided for the table. We asked for shredded ginger for our XLB, but it wasn't available. Service was good, with dishes being delivered soon after being prepared. I really like this family style way of dining, and Phat Phat is a good place to dine-in with family and close friends.

Anna H.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restaurant, saw a lot of rave reviews and the pictures of the food looked amazing. Aesthetically, the dining area was stunning and I thought their little dumpling logo was so cute. All the dumplings we ordered were a miss. The XLb wrapper was pretty thick on the top and flavor of the more unique XLbs like the spicy Szechuan & beef stew were not good. The spicy one was not that spicy and the beef stew seemed to be a bit gamey. The shen Jian bao was okay, the bottoms were not as crispy as I would have liked. The mushroom truffle bao did not have the same look as it did online so that was interesting. The green beans with minced pork somehow saved the day, those were full of flavor and smoky. Although all XLb we ordered was below average for us, we thought the service was really good!

Fifi C.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for a Southeast Asian food. We ordered the fried fish with egg floss, salt and spicy eggplant, their fresh bao and mango sago. Each dish is delicious and perfectly cooked. The ambience is nice and relaxing with friendly service.

david L.

Yelp
Updated review for Phat Phat, it's been at least a year since the last time we visited the restaurant. The food is still very good. One of the things we noticed is they are now serving a wider assortment of dim sum and dumplings on the regular menu. We were really happy to see that since you can't get good dumplings regularly at many suburb restaurants. The service was very good during this visit, it was pretty busy when we dined in on a Wednesday night. The service was fast, the server we had was very attentive and helpful. We plan to continue going to phat phat for the noodles and dumplings on a somewhat regular basis.

Quin B.

Yelp
A co-worker recommended Phat Phat in Schaumburg. Due to their variety of menu choices, I made two trips here for lunch to try out their offerings. Phat Phat was nice on the inside and welcoming. They do offer cocktails, but I opted for just water. I found the food to be hit or miss. The truffle bao and the su chao fan were really good. I could eat both of those yummy dishes all day! The wok fired Hong Kong mee with vegetables was ok and a I didn't care for the beef rempah. The beef had an odd after taste to it. I think there are some nice savory options to try here depending on what you like and I wouldn't hesitate to return and try more dishes.

Claudette K.

Yelp
My husband & I shared 3 meals the tofu tots, Melanesian combo stir fried rice & battered chicken pieces. The meals were great and different than other Oriental restaurants we've been to.

John M.

Yelp
Been wanting to try Phat Phat for a long time. Once you walk in you get a warehouse feel. Very modern fixtures with booths and tables. Nice bar area. We were greeted by the waitress and were seated promptly. Menu is easy to read with mainly pictures. I wish it had better descriptions of the food as the server offers no assistance. They offer Southeastern Asian and Indonesian entrees. Prices are moderate but portions are small. Plates were brought out as they were prepared so you which I did not like. Ordered the Orange Chicken Soup Dumplings. Flavorful but small portions. Also had the Sichuan Wontons Dimsum. Again small in size and lacking flavor. Since I was still hungry I ordered the Garlic Chicken Wings. Very small in size, overpriced and super salty. A dipping sauce would have been nice but when I asked the server, she only offered chili oil. My wife wanted a Gluten Free dish and they only suggested the beef fried rice which was super bland, overpriced and lacking beef. With so many choices of restaurants in the area,I don't think we will be back.

Brandy G.

Yelp
Probably my favorite spot in all of Schaumburg! I've been coming here for several years now and every time, it's amazing. I genuinely do not have a favorite dish since I always love them all. I always order a selection of dumplings with one entree to share. Great restaurant for larger groups or families. The staff is always kind and helpful when ordering.

Emilia P.

Yelp
It exceeded my expectations. This is Chinese cuisine on a next level. Ambiance is superb, staff is friendly and helpful. It is so clean that I was not sure that it is an actual Chinese restaurant. The food is so good. Everyone should try this place.

Lisa C.

Yelp
This has been on my list to try since moving to IL. I finally made it - and just in time for NW Suburbs restaurant week! The front door is on the side of the building in case you're confused. The space is so beautiful and has a great vibe. My server was very helpful. She also wrapped up all my leftovers when I was ready to go. I love eggplant so I ordered the crispy bites as a starter. YUM! The special included a variety of soup dumplings (all I would eat again immediately). I took the noodles and bao home. It was $50 for everything (including iced tea and the tip) but so worth it because I ate three lunches and two snacks from all this food! Noodles were really great (and the rest of the eggplant was easy to reheat in the air fryer!). I'm not a huge fan of bao like I am of other dim sum but I like the lighter texture of these bao. I'm not a chocolate person either but I would order the other two flavors again. Having company this week and I am going to take them there so I can try more dishes.

Danielle D.

Yelp
I've ordered a few times for takeout and really enjoyed what I got! I'm hoping to stop by and dine-in one day. I've had the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao, Fr Hk Mee with Beef, and Chicken Fried Rice. It was packaged nicely and tasted delicious.

Kendall W.

Yelp
It's my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. I live in another state now, but when I drive 13 hours to Illinois I leave at 4am so I can make it to Phat Phat for dinner before they close. I highly recommend the wanton soup, sheng jian bao, har gao, and the crispy shrimp with Szechuan sauce. I love to try new things there and have yet to find one thing on their menu I do not like. In addition to the amazing food, the staff there is fantastic! They're all very kind and try to make your experience with them the best it can be. They all make a point to come over and say hello and they remember their customers. Whenever my friends or family come to town I have brought them there and hype it up to everyone I meet. I hope this review gives you the push you need to try it out! You won't regret it!

Meggan A.

Yelp
Flavorful, delicious food and bomb drinks. The customer service was absolute top tier. No wait time. Everything was amazing.

Vivian H.

Yelp
Bright and cozy atmosphere and super friendly service. Lots of seating options for large groups available! They have Indonesian and Chinese foods, I definitely recommend trying their Indonesian specialty menu. All of their items are delicious definitely a place you must try! Shanghai Xiao Long Bao 5/5: Nailed the flavor, thin skin with juicy soup on the inside. Nasi Gareng 5/5: A sweet yet savory fried rice that packs a lot of flavor! Salt & Pepper Enoki Mushroom 5/5: Light and crunchy fried enoki served with sweet and sour sauce. Super addicting to munch on! Phat Phat Chicken 3/5: Wouldn't really recommend getting this item when they have so many other menu items that are unique and delicious. It's just your typical chicken covered in lots of fried starch and topped with a sweet glaze. Snow Ice 5/5: So refreshing, and if you love lychee like me you'll love this! A but pricey though.

Ruth L.

Yelp
I always love this place. Open areas, fun bench seating along the sides with pillows and round table seating around. Located in a historic building in DT Schaumburg. Drinks are good, but I really come here for the soup dumplings - Xiao long bao's are amazing here and they offer about 4-5 different types. Most servers are pretty friendly, service is usually good and at pace. Price is $$$, other menu items I recommend are: soup dumplings mentioned aboe hainan chicken spring rolls seasonal dessert baos (especially the chocolate ones) spicy dumplings enoki mushroom appetizer fried eggplant salt & pepper tofu

Yelp
Ok so, one of my family members recently got on a soup dumpling kick. We get the ones from Trader Joe's so, of course, they aren't really traditional - but they are still quite good. Anyway, he's wanted to try an actual soup dumpling / dimsum type place for a while. It's been FOREVER since I've had dimsum so while we were heading out to do some errands today, he tried to find a soup dumpling place but came up short. I looked and found Phat Phat in Schaumburg. Had mostly great reviews with a few 1 stars (everyone gets those, so I figure let's give it a shot). YA'LL... WHAT IS THIS PLACE (LOL)?! To say we were blown away would be an understatement. The service was PHENOMENAL. Our entire waitstaff was just amazing, especially our primary server. She was just - yeah - incredible! We ordered a TON of things. I didn't take photos of everything, but happy to give a quick rundown: From the Indonesian Side - - Javanese Satay: Absolutely incredible. The sauce with the candle nut was out of this world. Spicy, tender, delicious. Massively recommended. - Banana Spring Rolls (dessert): Wonderful! Not too sweet, served with a thinner style chocolate sauce (they tell you that you can either pour it over or dip it) - we dipped. Super good! From the Chinese Side - - Spicy Szechuan Xiao Long Bao: One of the best bites we had of the entire meal. SO GOOD. Spicy, rich, delicious soup dumpling. - Golden Shen Jiang Bao: Really amazing - shrimp, chicken, sesame, and vinegar filling. Pan fried. The wrapper is this orange color. We asked the server how it got the color since one of our party members has an allergy to orange food dye. What was very impressive is the server, without skipping a beat, explained the color was from the pumpkin in the dough. Just amazing that our server knew that. Mic drop moment. - Orange Chicken Xiao Long Bao: One of the only items we ordered that we wouldn't get again. I will simply say, it was "fine". The Spicy Szechuan one was MUCH better. Just wasn't our jam. Definitely not a strong orange flavor. It wasn't bad or anything mind you - just wasn't for us. - Sheng Jian Bao: The best bite of the day. Hands down. So simple, yet so incredible. Pork, black sesame, and scallions. Pan fried, simple, just out of this world. - Cha Siew Pao (BBQ Pork Bun): Very traditional bao style, but we weren't a huge fan of the filling. It was simply "ok". - Gao Zi: One of the dimsum dishes. I don't personally like cilantro, and this one had cilantro on it. Once I got over that, this was amazing. One of the people with us said it was his favorite bite of the day. Shocked how good the sweet vinegar sauce was. - Spring Roll: Another one of our favorite bites of the day. Simple and incredible. SUPER crispy. Fantastic. - Phat Phat Chicken with Steamed Rice: Another one of our favorite bites of the day. Just amazing. Dark meat of the chicken (thigh we think). Perfectly fried, coated, sweet and sticky sauce. Just wow. Truly wow. Rice complemented it well. - Chocolate Bao (dessert): A chocolate lovers fantasy in one or two bites per bao (lol). Not too sweet at all. Middle was super rich 58% dark chocolate. Simple and delicious. So good! One extra callout - the Oolong hot tea was FANTASTIC. One order was four full cups of tea. One of the best I've had in a very long time. There were SO MANY OTHER THINGS we wanted to try, but we were way too full. We took so much home already *haha*. That said, we will be heading back soon (next week). I need to take my bestie and my Mom here so they can also experience this incredible restaurant. Chef Andy Foo should be incredibly proud of himself and his staff for really going above and beyond - on a Wednesday afternoon at lunch time no less. Truly fantastic stuff folks - go give it a shot! :-)

Yelp
We came by on a Saturday afternoon for an early dinner, and there was a pretty full parking lot in the back. When we walked into the restaurant, they had us put our name on a waitlist as they are short staffed. After a bit of time we were seated and shortly after water was brought out to us. To start I got the mule, and it was delicious. For the cost it is on the smaller side but the flavors were great! For the baos, we tried the truffle, mango, bbq pork and the chocolate bao. The truffle bao was filled with mushrooms and looked like a mushroom too. The bbq pork bun was super fluffy and a bit sweeter than I'm used to but still delicious. The mango bun was certainly a unique bao, definitely be careful when biting into it because it is hot & the filling does shoot once you bite into it. Lastly was the chocolate bao, which was a great way to wrap up the meal! We also tried a few of the dumplings, my favorites were shangjian soup dumplings and the siew Mais! All in all we had a great experience, and would love to come back and try all of their seasonal baos!

Yelp
So tasty!! Just had lunch here yesterday! I had the Mie Goreng, a mildly spicy Indonesian noodle dish with shrimp. Huge portion! Started with an appetizer that was tempura breaded tiny mushroom, in a delicious tempura breading. My friend ordered a couple of the bao and dumplings. We'll def be back!

Yelp
Food was yummy. Portions are on the smaller side for what I've been used to at other Dim Sum establishments

Yelp
I love authentic Chinese food and this food is definitely comparable to food in china. I eat out quite often and this is one of the best Asian food spots ever.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I will never not come here if someone asks me to go. I am in love with soup dumplings, and this was my first experience with them. The Chef is incredible, the staff is amazing, and the environment is so fun. I have already been here twice this month and plan to go again when my friend comes in town because she hast to see this place.

Yelp
We went for Valentine's Day! It was so last minute we were worried it would be busy! We waited for maybe 10? Minutes if that. Everyone was so pleasant I didn't mind! The space was great. It felt really warm and comfortable, the decorations were tasteful and authentic. Now for the food. Dumplings are my favorite food and soup dumplings are just incredible. We've gone to many places in the city and goodness these? Were something special. We got a mix of a few, the orange chicken soup dumplings are something to behold. The soup was so flavorful and I know you're thinking, nah that sounds weird. No, no you'll never understand the tastiness of these little orange dumplings. Spring rolls? Perfect. Sometimes the inside gets mushy but the flavors melded and worked so well together. My wife got the fried wontons and LOVED these! The last is the pork soup dumplings, so good! You can tell this is a handmade dumpling restaurant. Everyone was so kind and wonderful. We loved our waiter Ibu! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
We came here for a weekend lunch after doing some shopping. Behind the restaurant there is a lot of parking. The inside is nicely decorated and has a good amount of tables inside; they also have a second floor possibly as an event space. We were quickly seated and staff were very friendly, and the food came out very quickly! It is a dim sum style restaurant where you order multiple plates typically for sharing. For two hungry adults we got 6 plates of food to share and we were satiated. We will definitely be back when we're in the area again!

Yelp
Been here a few times. Ambiance is nice, the place is big and clean. Staff friendly and great. Soup dumplings are made fresh and is definitely fun to taste different flavors. Brought a few friends and they loved eating here too. Will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
I came for dinner the other night with my wife, and we were very happy. We tried 6 different types of dim sum, and all were great, but the stand outs for me were the Szechwan Bao, and the Beef Stew soup dumplings. Sorry about the pictures. We tried so many, I forgot which was which. Our server was great, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant had a fun casual vibe. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Wow... this place was outstanding and I can't wait to go back. We ordered quite a few items from the menu. Many dumplings, bao, Sichuan wontons, and 2 noodle dishes. Everything was extraordinarily flavorful and delicious. My favorite were the cha siew bao and the stir fried kwe tiaw. Oh and the green beans !!! Delicious. Drinks were also great. Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
Hi y'all l, I'm actually sad to write this review because based on the beautiful photos on their website and menu, I thought everything was going to be delicious! Let me start with some positives: there is ample parking in the lot, the ambience is quite unique for an Asian restaurant (exposed brick) and the service is good. Unfortunately, everything we tried fell short of our expectations. - salt & pepper enoki mushrooms - this is batter fried and tasted good. Just wished the oil would have been blotted on paper towel first - truffle bao - did not get truffle flavor - golden sheng jiang bao - the wonton skin was thicker than i would have liked. Tasted ok. - Orange/ lemon Xiao long bao - we tried both flavors and it was very interesting how artificial the orange and lemon flavors tasted. Didn't enjoy these. - tofu tots - the description says "salted egg". Believe it. The tofu tots appeared to have an egg wash on them. Too eggy for me. Did not enjoy this one either. - crispy calamari - ok - garlic chicken wings - good - hainan rice - only available on the weekends. It was OK. The ginger/garlic flavors were very subtle.

Yelp
HOLY COW! These are the best soup dumplings I've ever had. The soup flavor was light (and there was a lot of soup), the dumpling skin was not too thick or thin, and the meat was delicious. I could easily eat 20 of them if I wanted to. They also have rotating specialty dumplings so we got their mango-shaped dumpling with a mango filling. We also got a pan-fried dumpling which I wish was crispier on the bottom, but their soup dumpling is a must-try. They were pretty packed when I went but I got quick service even with a full restaurant. Next time, I'd like to try their cocktails.

Yelp
Chef Andy Foo is, no doubt, an authentic Singaporean. Alas, the food, most definitely, is not authentic. I feel sorry for the fine people of northern Illinois, as this is not even a close facsimile to the fantastic flavors to be found in Singapore. As one who's traveled to that foodie paradise many times, I was sorely disappointed at Phat Phat. Stop catering to what you think "locals" want, Chef Foo! Authenticity will win the day, every day! But first- let's start with the highlight - the ambience of the restaurant is awesome - a truly stunning restaurant indeed. Service was very nice; timely and done up well - the team working there does, indeed, work hard. Good on them! I have a perennial question though- why doesn't the staff get the portable credit card terminals to bring to the table? The rest of the world does it - why not here? Are we Americans that backward? Yes, sadly, we are. Now - let's talk about the food - after all, that's what I love, as do all Yelpers - we yelp because we enjoy the cuisine we eat, after all! Let's chat about the soup dumplings- we had the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao - now, let me say up front I love soup dumplings. From Din Tai Fung to Mama Lu's in Monterey Park, CA, these are - to coin a phrase - sublime when done up just right. Alas, Chef Foo flopped on these. There was a clear and overdone flavor of a dried spice - what was it, cumin? in each dumpling. Oh good lord. That was a travesty of what a soup dumpling should taste like. Phat Phat - you can do better. Please. We had Mango Bao for dessert- now first and foremost, I'd not ever seen it before, but was willing to cut some slack - the flavor, while ok, had little mango flavor to it- and the ones we were served looked little like the photo. Oh my. Flavor? Lacking. The look? Definitely confusing- but passable in its own right. The wok fired hong kong mee with vegetables definitely had a distinctive flavor- but again? Sadly not authentic. Finally - we had the Javanese style satay. My hub-hub was a bit put off by this - it was cold, it tasted a bit charred (was it supposed to?) and just wasn't appetizing. So - finally - will we return? We live in walking distance - but the answer is very likely no. I wanted to love Phat Phat. I ended up feeling sad that my fellow Americans are not tasting what is so lovable about the flavors of Singapore. It's simply not legit.

Yelp
Maybe I expected too much because this is a beautiful restaurant and we were greeted and seated promptly. It was busy for a rainy weekday. I know it is difficult for restaurants to accommodate special diets but there was nothing on the menu here that was GF. The waitress consulted an allergy sheet she had to be sure and checked with the kitchen. The only thing they offered was GF Beef Fried Rice and I was skeptical that it would be GF because they didn't even have GF soy sauce. It came out as rice, mixed veggies and minced beef (aka hamburger meat) with zero flavor and maybe a tablespoon of meat and veggies total. Then they charged extra for making it GF. I wouldn't object to the price if it tasted good. Other items on the menu sounded promising but were also overpriced and underwhelming. We will not be back.
