Near Fort Harrison, this indie favorite channels Bangkok’s khao gaeng stalls—mix-and-match curries, basil stir-fries, and lemongrass soup at lunch. Noted in local guides and explained on the restaurant’s site, it’s fast, fragrant, and deeply personal.

Google
I ordered the chicken pad Thai extra chicken Thai hot for $20 Thai hot spicy rating was four out of 10 and spiciness not very hot. The amount of chicken was good. It was tasty. I would rate it better than the average chicken pad Thai dish. Also their menu was excellent. I appreciated all the pictures next to every single item 5 out of five also +1 cyclist rep the owner rock of single speed

Google
The food was really good!! So much flavor and variety to choose from. My favorite was the crispy chicken. The spicy basil was good as well with the mixed seafood. The appetizer combo was decent. The Thai tea was delicious. Not a big place, very intimate and calm there like I like it. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Google
My husband and I have been to many other Thai restaurants, but this one of the best!! Service is always 10/10 the owner and his wife are so sweet! We get their pad thai Chicken and pad see ew, beef. And for dessert their sticky rice with ice cream! So good!

Google
Hands-down, Phaya Thai is my favorite place for lunch. The value is awesome. The lunch starts with a hot lemon grass soup. Entree choices are amazing and the best of the usual Thai suspects. My favorite is the ginger chicken. Each lunch entree comes with rice and a vegetarian egg roll. Incredible value, incredible food. This family-owned and run business offers great customer service and is fast. All food is cooked on the line fresh right in front of the dining area. Diners can choose their spice level. This is an independent, uncompensated review.

Google
Excellent yellow curry and rice. I came here after many hours of not being able to eat due to being admitted to ER. I was looking for comfort food on Uber Eats when I traveled to Indy. I selected this place due to my interest in yellow curry and also high rating both on Uber Eats as well as Google Map. My food was perfect and so yummy. I ate until the last bite. The outdoor sitting is lovely. I highly recommend this place.

Google
First time there, food was great! Ordered the crispy chicken, hot. Actually had some heat to it unlike most places. Ordered the Thai sweet tea also, which was really good. Next time I plan to add the milk to it. The lunch menu is very reasonably but go early, they get busy by noon.

Google
Wife and I ate here a couple of weeks ago. We have eaten at many Thai restaurants in the Chicago area and this rates as good as any. Everything was delicious. Crab ragoon was best we ever had eaten. Portions were very generous. Service was good and the food was great. Highly recommend!

Google
Best Thai food on the east side of Indy! They have lunch portions that come with fried spring roll and lemongrass soup. Tofu and veggies are so good! Mango sticky rice for dessert is amazing!

Yelp
I visited this place on a Thursday evening and was immediately seated with no wait time. The food was delicious and came out very quickly too! The menu was also very helpful because there were photos for each dish with descriptions. The service and wait staff were very attentive and friendly, so I'll definitely be back again.

Yelp
Phaya Thai is a nice little restaurant in the heart of Lawrence. I had just stopped at the farmers market and wanted to try this place for the first time. The restaurant is bright, clean and nicely decorated. There is seating inside and out. They have plenty of food and drink options. I suggest viewing the menu online as they have so much to choose from. I ended up getting a soup with glass noodles, onions, carrots, peanut sauce and added chicken. You can pick your heat and the gentleman said hot was hot but medium was milder. For me it was a little too mild; I should have went with hot I got a side of spring rolls that were perfectly crisp on the outside and done on the inside, not mushy at all. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Yelp
The food here was amazing! We went there because some friends that live in the area recommended the place, and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and the ambiance is very pleasant. We had the chicken satay and crab Rangoon for appetizers and they were incredibly tasty! The entrees and drinks were delicious too. Parking is easy and it wasn't too busy. Definitely coming back

Yelp
The food came out very fast, even though it was a busy lunch. The shrimp rockets were great!

Yelp
This was the first time that I visited this place and I will definitely return...thanks to food and service being quality! When you walk in your visual senses are greeted with a pleasant balance of decorations that give it sitting out on your patio vans chilling with friends vive. So, a pleasant atmosphere to hang with a friend or more while eating yummy food. Speaking of food...normally when I go to a Thai food place, I order pad Thai. This time, I felt like venturing out. So, I chose something with garlic in the name. Let me tell you, it didn't disappoint...it had all the things I enjoy...beef, onions, and cabbage...all drenched in a garlic beef broth sauce...with a side of rice (I liked the rice on the side because I could control how much rice was in each bite). Every bite was an exciting experience for my taste buds!!! What made this whole experience complete was the service was just the right attentive to laid back vibe. I should mention, we were approaching closing time for them...so, I picked up the speed of my eating...the owner noticed this and told me not to worry and to take my time....which was so kind of him to do!!! Highly recommend going...you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Absolutely stellar food. The service was excellent and the flavors were top of the line. Best Thai spot in Indy that I've had. Elite fried rice- perfect combo of crisp and fluffy. Way better than standard takeout fried rice. The rocket shrimp are also amazing. Like an upgraded crab Rangoon

Yelp
Phaya Thai Street Food is a locally owned little bistro with wonderful Thai food near the entrance to Fort Ben. The dining room is lovely, with lots of plants and subtle decor. The tables are spaced far enough apart so that you can have a conversation. Light rock music plays in the background. I stopped for lunch with my husband. The servers are amazing, greeting you with a smile and a cup of the best lemongrass soup. We order from the lunch menu and since the food is prepared fresh, it takes about 15 minutes. The food is worth the wait. I have the Drunken Noodles with chicken and it comes with a hot and delicious spring roll. The Drunken Noodles have lots of fresh green beans and cabbage. The dish is perfectly spiced with a nice heat. My husband has the Chicken Pad Thai which is a generous portion with wonderful flavor topped with peanuts. We love our lunches. The dining room fills up quickly and a lot of pick-up orders go out the door. There are a couple tables out on the sidewalk. Restrooms are immaculate.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Service was fast and friendly. Definitely will go again. Wheelchair accessible, but there are only 2 handicap spots in the parking lot so we parked by the CVS.

Yelp
We went here for date night last weekend on a Saturday night around 7 pm. I ordered the crispy chicken and my husband ordered the pad Thai and we split the spring rolls appetizer. Everything was hot and very fresh and was so delicious! Our favorite was the crispy chicken...both huge portions, enough to take some home if you're not too hungry. The servers were on top of everything we needed and it's overall just a great spot! We love coming here every month.

Yelp
I was in search of some shrimp fried rice, but better than the everyday fried rice that I am used to having from some takeout spots. Phaya Thai did not disappoint me. Located in Fort Ben, this restaurant was buzzing full of customers, both carry-out and dine-in (but mostly, dine-in). My food was slightly pricey ($29), but pretty good. I ordered crab rangoon and shrimp fried rice with an order of their house soy sauce (+$1). The crab rangoon had an excellent crisp to filling ratio and paired well with the sweet chili dipping sauce. Would definitely order again! The shrimp fried rice was tasty all on its own and, honestly, didn't need the extra soy sauce that I'd bought. There were plenty of shrimp and the portion was nicely sized. I will be revisiting, and I recommend giving it a try.

Yelp
Best drunken noodles I have had. The noodles were chewy Maybe they could be cut a little smaller. But the flavors were everything you want in Thai food. Veggies were fresh. This place is busy!
google avatar

Yelp
It's our favorite place to eat. It also happens to be the BEST Thai we've had. The family is super nice, food delicious, and excellent service. We've been eating here for years.

Mark M.

Yelp
Great Thai food. Been many times and never had anything that wasn't very good. Love the owners and staff

Yelp
This restaurant is located close to the Fort Harrison State park. I go to the park a lot and this is a perfect spot for lunch after hiking. When I went there on a Saturday, the server was doing a hostess's job too, stating that it is only her on the floor that day and service is slower than usual. I really appreciate the heads up. Then we decided to do take out instead, and the food didn't take long. I think they are priced fair. I ordered Pad see ew, and liked it. A little too salty- it's the kind that makes you very thirsty afterwards. I love the location and will probably go back. Just note, they are closed on Sundays!!
google avatar

Nick D.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I didn't know what to expect other than prices seemed high. When I arrived, the restaurant was packed! Which is usually a good sign. Service was great. The food was delicious! I didn't expect the lemongrass soup but it hit the spot. My wife loved her meal and felt everything was well worth the cost. So glad we finally decided to try it!

Yelp
A must stop spot if you're looking for amazing Thai food in Lawrence! We walked over to Phaya after exploring the Fort Ben Farmers market. We were seated immediately and quickly ordered. I love a good pad Thai and this spot has it! Make sure you know your spice level because this dish brings the heat if you choose spicy!

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch and was glad that I did. The restaurant has a decent sized dining area and a few tables and chairs outside in the front of the joint to eat on. There is a modest parking lot available to that it shares with other businesses in the small strip mall that it is located. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. They were also attentive and courteous. The restaurant serves deletable dishes including noodle dishes, rice dishes, chicken, soups and spring rolls. Be sure to ask about their daily specials when you visit. I ordered the crispy chicken, which came with rice and a spring roll. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for me to get my food. They brought me water and a bowl of some of the best broth that I have had. It was unique and amazing. My food was absolutely delicious. And there was a decent portion. I got the hot heat on my chicken and it was just right. It had a little kick, but not too much that detracted from the chicken. The rice was fresh....and this is coming from a person that does not eat much rice. The spring roll complimented my meal very well, which never stood a chance. The food here is reasonably priced and grade A delicious. The service is top notch and I really enjoyed my meal here. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
We got there for an early dinner. There were very few diners there initially, but it filled up pretty fast. I feel like they are better at take out orders than actual table service. Our server seemed pretty new, so I tried to be patient, but with every course we had to ask for utensils to serve/eat, extra plates, and more water. It got pretty old. We were sharing dishes and had soup, so serving utensils seemed like a reasonable need. We asked for the green curry mild as that is my aunt's preference. It was at least Thai medium which was very spicy for her. The other dishes we requested to be mild were, in fact, mild, so I know it it possible. The flavors were tasty enough. The eggplant dish was my clear preference for the evening. Tom kha w chicken was tasty. Green curry was too hot for her. Eggplant was delicious. Crab meat wontons were okay. I would give it another shot.

Yelp
Went here for lunch today and got the Thai fried rice. All I can say is flavorful...after placing our orders each of us received I believe it was called lemon grass soup. It was different yet good. I ordered the Thai rice while others ordered the pad Thai, yellow curry, and mango sticky rice. Everyone said their food was flavorful. They also give 10% discount to military. If I live here I know 100% this would be a place I'd frequent.

Yelp
Tasty Food and ambience, good options for vegetarians. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

Yelp
This unassuming place has a lot of big flavor. Phaya Thai Street Food is named and modeled after the street vendors in Bangkok. The food is pure Thai and delicious, hot and fresh. We had the spring rolls, Pad Thai and Spicy Eggplant for our maiden voyage. The food was wonderful and fragrantly flavorful. The spring rolls had a crispy exterior and were packed with veggies. The main dishes were wonderful versions of typical Thai dishes and left us full and happy. The prices are more than reasonable for this kind of food. The staff is definitely Thai and definitely know their stuff.

Boris C.

Yelp
Very nice family own place with perfect service and tasty authentic food of appropriate spice level. The interior is clean and cozy as well. In the "sea" of Thai restaurants in Indy this one stands out!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
This place is great! Super tasty food along with smiling service. There's some booth seating along with individual tables. Great lunch specials and in a very walkable area.

Robert K.

Yelp
They have great food. But be sure to verify your order. This is partially my fault for not double checking before leaving. Two times in a row, I ordered fried rice and paid extra. But received white rice.

Anne+Mike M.

Yelp
Nice classic Thai restaurant. The service was great. Our waitress recommended we start with a Lime Iced Thai Tea and it was delicious. A little different from our normal thai iced tea but in a good way. The pumpkin curry with shrimp was perfect with many veggies and large chunks of pumpkin, something that I struggle to find at other Thai restaurants. The Tom Yum was great and green curry gets a 8/10. It was pretty empty in the restaurant when we first got in. The takeout got busy after a while, and they kept up great service!

Nicole V.

Yelp
I. And back a few times, and I always order the same dishes. Unfortunately, the dishes don't taste as good as my first visit.
google avatar

Danny B.

Yelp
We sat outside while waiting for our food. We did not have a long wait. Our food came out hot and fresh! The waiter was really nice and patient. I informed her that our table had a peanut allergy. She informed us of the foods that didn't contain peanut. I would come again. I really enjoyed our time here.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
We live out of state but we make sure to get at here when we are in town. I always get cashew chicken, hot and my wife ordered the noodle soup. The food was delicious and great service. It is truly a treat to eat here when we are in town.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
My wife, daughter and I came here after a trip to Ft Ben. They were hungry, I wasn't. But I did try there's, had some spring rolls, and a Thai Coffee. My wife's green curry with veggies was very good. She agreed. My daughter's Thai Noodle Soup with Chicken- very good as well. I had two of the five egg rolls (5 per order), I enjoyed them along with my Thai coffee (aka- ice coffee, sweetened with milk). The service was great, the restaurant clean, and they have some outdoor seating. I look forward to returning when I order my own meal :)

Yelp
If you know me (you don't LOL), you know I love fun and unique food combinations. That said, I HAD to try the cheesy pad thai. And I won't lie, when I ordered it I thought, "that sounds kinda gross but I can't NOT try it." It was good! The cheese changed the whole flavor of your typical pad thai. It's hard to imagine--you really just have to try it for yourself. But I say if you're an adventurous eater and you like cheese and pad thai, I'm sure you'll like it, too. Xoxo, Is this thing on?
google avatar

Jeremy O.

Yelp
Being coming here for 7yrs. Still as good as the first time here. The food is fresh as you can get the service is still on point.
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
The food was incredible! Portions were very big. The lunch portion was even generous! The service was a little slow, but they were very busy so no worries at all. We weren't in a hurry either. The place was packed on a Monday at noon! The cheesy shrimp pad Thai was soooo good. It was very filling though, and way too big of a portion for lunch. But I was happy to bring some home for leftovers! My friend got the pad Thai lunch portion and even had some leftovers. But she said it was delicious as well! We will definitely be back'
google avatar

Rashieta W.

Yelp
Best Thai I've had in Indy! The people are always so nice. I walked in 5 minutes before closing time to make a to-go order and they were just as friendly as if their day was just starting. I was relieved because it was all my son wanted after surgery at the hospital, and they saved the day! This is a nice gem in the Lawrence neighborhood.
google avatar

Whitney L.

Yelp
My fave Thai restaurant in the city. Always fresh! The green curry is really good! Quick service too.
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
I enjoy their Thai food and even though the service has trouble with English they can understand you and vise-versa. As for the ambiance, it's not too bad if you're a fan of Thailand!
google avatar

Im H.

Yelp
Ordered twice now here for carryout. Both times food was delicious. Had the Num Tok salad with salad roll and the crispy chicken lunch special. The crispy chicken may not be traditional Thai food, but it was enjoyable and satisfying.
google avatar

Travis C.

Yelp
First time trying this place and will NOT be the last! They were busy busy at 7:30 on Saturday! But service was quick and efficient, and most important friendly. The food.... YUM! We started with the appetizer combo. It was bountiful and delicious. Those firecracker shrimp OMG. We noticed some wings come out and had to try those. So crispy and juicy! YUM For dinner we had drunken noodles (mild+ spice) and Sweet and sour breaded chicken (hot spice). Everything was perfect! Even the side of rice was sticky, tender and juicy. No complaints. Plenty of leftovers. We shall return!
google avatar

Giovanni F.

Yelp
Probably the best Thai on the north side. I've been coming here since 2019 and I have never had a bad meal. In fact, every meal has been delicious. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with such a unique and delicious aroma. My absolute favorite dishes are the crispy chicken and basil fried rice. They are so savory and made to order. Phaya Thai also offers Thai iced coffee or Thai iced tea which are also great! I could rave on and on about how awesome this place is but all I need to say is, you gotta try this local restaurant out!
google avatar

Shanel G.

Yelp
The food is amazing, but the service is horrible. I waited for almost 45 minutes for a lunch online pickup order. While I waited, I watch the server take orders after mines and provided them faster service. When I mentioned it to him, his solution was to tell me he would make it faster next time.

Katrina M.

Yelp
The food here was amazing, it was fresh and flavorful. I had the basil fried rice and yellow curry. Both were very delicious, seasoned well, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The spring rolls were very good and fresh. It was almost like they made them to order. I also have the Thai lime tea, which was very good as well but kind of sweet. The service was amazing, and everyone was very helpful. The food came out in a timely matter, and the food was priced very well for the lunch menu. The place was also very calming, and they had lots of beautiful plants.

Tyler H.

Yelp
This place has some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. Including the food we ate on our 14 day Thailand adventure. It is seriously good food. BUT the service/management is HORRIBLE. We've dined in 3-4 times, and each time they entirely forget 1 item of our order. Last time it was my wife's entree. They brought everyone's food except hers, and they didn't end up bringing hers until after everyone else was done eating. Today, they entirely forgot our appetizer. We literally only ordered 3 things (no substitutions or special instructions) and they forgot 1 of them. We reminded them when they brought my wife's entree (several minutes before they brought my entree). We were both done eating our dinner, and then our appetizer arrived. If you have no desire to actually eat your food at the same time as one another, this place is perfect. But if you expect to eat your meal while your companions do, then you should probably go to basically any other restaurant on earth. If the food wasn't absolutely amazing I'd give this place 1 star.
google avatar

Nang O.

Yelp
This place is great. They have amazing Thai food. The place is a pretty warm, cozy, and comfortable vibe! We order a really good spring roll. It's very chewy crispy and has a great texture inside. And then we order some fried rice with chicken And Pad See Ewe with beef. I love all of them they're really good and then that's right authentic and a taste. The customer service was excellent. They continually check on you. They're pretty spicy just in case you add spices to your food. I don't have a lot of variety in Thai food to try But they do have decent. I definitely recommend it
google avatar

Tylor S.

Yelp
I had a craving for massaman curry and decided to swing by recently. The massaman curry was delicious, but the rocket shrimp was incredible. The restaurant is very sleek and clean. The atmosphere is nice, and the box around the entrance prevents drafts of cold air when guests come enter. If you're in the mood for Thai food this a great stop. It's worth your time & I recommend the rocket shrimp!
google avatar

Rebia B.

Yelp
I was not expecting such good food in Indy! We went to the salt cave and then stopped by Phaya for lunch and it blew my mind! Such fresh and flavorful dishes! The chef came to greet us when my friend ordered Khao Mun Gai since it's not ordered much. Apparently it's a dish you should have when you're sick to help you heal. It's chicken broth with chicken and rice. The chicken had so much flavor. Other places to check out while in Indy Mesh The garage Anthony's Steakhouse Root and Bone The Cake Room by Gwen
google avatar

Naeemah M.

Yelp
This was pretty descent. I will come here often when I visit my grandmother. I had pad Thai, crab rangoons and friend rice. I'd be back it was fresh and the sit down part was nice too.
google avatar

Courtny M.

Yelp
Crispy chicken and fried rice is the way to go. Had to come back to update because the food this time was 10/10 fresh and cooked to order. Service 10/10 Seated quickly during a lunch rush. I had exactly 45 mins before my next appointment for a quick lunch break. Food was ordered, served , ate , and check paid within 36 minutes. The ambiance is normal restaurant setting. Paid $24 for a lunch special serving of both items along with soup and spring rolls. This is my current go to lunch spot. Can't wait to come back to try something different. They get the job done.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend who lived in Thailand, this place doesn't disappoint! I will definitely be back when I am in the "neighborhood" which is unfortunately far from home! For lunch, I had pork belly stew which is usually on the dinner menu. Next time I am here for lunch, I will try spicy basil Pad Ka Pow which waitress recommended.

Christy S.

Yelp
Delicious stir fry and wrap. We enjoyed our pick up order. Stop by and see for yourself.

Josh B.

Yelp
Best Thai food I have ever had. Be sure to add extra protein bc you don't get a lot but still very amazing!
