"A sister company to the Sellwood stalwart, 13 Virtues Brewing, Philadelphia’s Steaks & Hoagies keeps it simple, with the standard cheesesteak featuring only sliced steak, onions, and melted American on a soft hoagie roll. Provolone is available as a substitute, and other sandwich variations include mushrooms, peppers, and wild cards like pizza sauce. Philadelphia’s pours exclusively 13 Virtues beers, but also has several West Coast wines by the glass. Additional locations can be found in nearby Sellwood and out in Sisters." - Nathan Williams

Google
Had a steak and mushroom sandwich, it was good, needed a little something extra to make it great, not sure what I would add, but was plenty big and the bread was amazing. They have 2 great condiments, a horseradish and a hot sauce. I definitely plan on going back.

Google
Love stopping in and seeing Bobby! He makes the best sandwich and is so friendly! They have video poker and happy hour which makes their beer cheap.

Google
Ordered the pepper Philly cheese steak. I added mayo to mine. I absolutely loved it. Plenty of meat and great balance of cheese. Can't believe I waited so long to try it. Bought a brownie too. Very good. Had an IPA beer while I waited. All around great experience.

This has been a staple for my friends, my family and myself for years and years. Since 2004, exactly. The food quality is high, the ingredients are always fresh and the portions are more than enough, even for the average big eater. The prices are a little high, but as with everything in life, you get what you pay for. And it is WAY more than worth it. They have a wonderful selection of sandwiches, but my favorite, and what I suggest to everybody, is the steak and cheese with extra onion and extra cheese. Their meatball sub is to die for, as well. You better be ready for garlic, though! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone!

Came here twice while visiting friends. The first night I ordered the hoagie version of their Philly cheesesteak. Which just didn't do it for me. Two other friends got the standard Philly cheesesteak and it looked better and honestly tasted better being more traditional. Went back the next day for lunch ordered the Philly steak with peppers and it was much better than the hoagie version and was happy with it. Overall tender juicy meat, very tasty bread, and great service. The potato salad was okay, not my favorite-although was not bad. The restaurant part seemed really nice. They had a pool table in the back and had a bar to order beer it appeared. I did notice however the two times we were in there a lot of their business was to go and expect a 10 to 15 minute wait per order.

Google
I had seen this spot on my way to work and always wanted to stop but just had not had an opportunity to. Tonight that changed and man am I glad I did. Bobby was super nice and walked me through the sandwiches and finally decided on the mushroom cheesesteak and it was delish! I normally would eat a half but before I knew it, I had ate the entire thing! Will def be going back to try the Italian and a few of the others, but they know their cheesesteak! Will 100% be back!

Google
I’ve tried a lot of Phillys in the Portland area and Philadelphia’s is hands down my favorite. Tender and thin meat, onions cooked perfect, right amount of cheese, good bread. Get the Pepper Steak, you won’t regret it!

Christina Espinoza

Google
Delicious philly cheese steaks! My first time trying this place out, my boyfriend mentioned he's gone before and the sandwiches were good. I got the Philadelphia cheese steak sandwich. Sandwich was really meaty and had melted cheese and grilled onions all inside a delicious soft hoagie. Definitely will be back!

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Great and big servings. Really nice staff. I've never been in there when there weren't customers coming and going. West Linn residents know they'll get a good meal here.

Jacob B.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out for a while, and was finally in the area for lunch! From the outside and also upon walking in the front door this place has a real dive bar feel, but that's not a bad thing! They do have 6 taps, so you do have that option. The menu is great, but I already knew I had to get a cheesesteak. There wasn't a big line so I got my order in pretty quickly and it wasn't cheap. It was $18 for a cheesesteak and I added hot peppers. Now, with that in mind the cheesesteak was HUGE! I have a half left over and I shouldn't have eaten the whole first half. The ribeye is flavor packed and tender, the peppers are hot but not overwhelming and the cheese is nice and creamy and sharp. I hope to get back here and try a couple of other sandwiches. They have a few different options if you're not feeling a cheesesteak. The gentleman that took my order was polite and helpful and that was a nice touch. Great food, great atmosphere, get out here now!

Mark J.

Yelp
I'm a loyal fan coming to get a cheesesteak at least twice a month. Arguably one of the best in the west coast. I've had cheesesteak in Philly and this place competes VERY well. Beer is cold too!!

Alan R.

Yelp
We always went here but within the last year or two when we've gone here it has been only one employee that gives us a terrible experience. Come to find out, the employee that is harping constantly on us to leave early well before closing time, or saying that it will take a long time to order only a drink when there is no line at 2pm, IS THE MANAGER! This is ridiculous and we won't be back because of this nonsense. I'm sorry for giving you my business and wouldn't recommend anyone to go to a business that doesn't appreciate your business and makes you feel bad about being there. This is ridiculous.

Jessy M.

Yelp
My husband said he used to go to this place at a different location and thought it was no longer but we drove by and saw it and came in! Service was friendly. Food was good. The bread was amazing. Not the best I have ever had but I would definitely come back again.

Scott B.

Yelp
Very respectable cheesesteaks. Flavor, bread, and onions all perfect! I'd like to see a choice of provolone or cheese whiz and sautéed peppers too!

Lyn N.

Yelp
Our cheesesteaks were really good. I would have liked some more cheese because I like my cheesesteak dripping with cheese. The bread was really fresh though and the meat was juicy. I got the potato salad and it was store bought so I was not impressed with that. I was also surprised French fries were not included with the sandwich. Overall, I would return again for the sandwich.

Steve S.

Yelp
Love this place. True Philadelphia cheesesteaks, which isn't common to see in the PNW. Food is great, but like everything else it seems like prices have gone up quite a bit. It is hard for me to purchase a sandwich for almost $20 and it doesn't even come with a bag of chips. This would be a 5 star if prices hadn't escalated.

Paul D.

Yelp
This place has seen better days. It has a splendid collection of Philadelphia photos and memorabilia. As someone who lived in Philly for 5 years, I really appreciate it. The staff is very friendly too. Unfortunately, the cheesesteaks are only ok (they can't hold a candle to the real thing in Philly). Every time I get one the meat is overly hot and the rolls are cool or cold. The rolls are nothing like the classic Amoroso rolls you get in Philadelphia. At the least, they could be room temperature to better accompany the super-hot innards. I went during the World Series this year thinking that there might be Phillies fans and yet no one was there. The game was on some of the tv's but the place felt totally dead. They have no metal flatware; if you want a knife or fork with your food these days, it'll be plastic. They also give you a paper cup for water. Thankfully, the beer actually comes in a glass. They have a pool table that is originally coin-op, but they let you play it for free now. It is not in great shape. When I was there, there were only 2 cues, each with the felt torn off. I've never seen a pool cue without felt in my life. It sure makes for some interesting shots on the cue ball. Moreover, the triangle for setting the balls was broken. I left with the impression that the owners had grand hopes but are not keeping this place up to snuff.

Tori And Gavin L.

Yelp
Food was great, but seemed expensive for what we got. The service was quick. Inside there is plenty of seating as well as a pool table you can play for free. Nothing particularly stood out about it though.

Richard M.

Yelp
Great affordable local sandwich shop. I've never had a bad sandwich from here. Everyone has always been friendly

Vic C.

Yelp
Definitely a delicious Philly Cheesesteak! I have had Philly Cheesesteak from top rated restaurants in Philly! The quality and amount of meat is incredible! I like to ask for a hollowed out bun and extra cheese! I also get marinara/tomato sauce on the side! This place is a must try for anyone who loves cheese steaks lots of healthy options such as turkey, chicken or vegetarian all cheese! Right next to Lake O in West Linn!

Jacob K.

Yelp
Best damn cheesesteak I've had in a while!!! Fast service. I recommend getting the pickled peppers.

David F.

Yelp
Tried the pepper cheesesteak and a sausage & pepper. Bread was very fresh and the sandwiches were served hot. Service is minimal- you order, you sit down, you bus your own table. No smile, no thank you so tips are minimal. Nice atmosphere with a pool table in the back. Not a five simply because both sandwiches could have had more meat. Well, you can more for $2.65 more but the sandwiches are already on spendy side at $13-$14 each.

Brett P.

Yelp
Solid sandies here! This is the closest to a phili cheesesteak that you'll find in the Portland area. Their bread, meat, cheese, and peppers are top notch. Parking is a little scant (and when I visited a month ago, so they were still closed for dine-in), so I would recommend calling in and placing an order for pickup. Give this joint a try and you won't be disappointed. The sandwich should be enough for 2 meals to wet your appetite on.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Meh. Drove by a couple times over the past year. Stopped in to give it a try hoping it would be nostalgic of the food out east. Grew up in New England, lived in Philly. Worked at a steak shop on Delaware Ave. in Philly so I have a decent base to compare a cheesesteak to. A bland cheesesteak just didn't do it, and at $16 made it even worse. Maybe add a little salt and pepper. Throw the roll on the flat top to warm it up. Not sure what they can do to jazz it up some but didn't quite cure the craving because it was just "meh". 2 stars because the guy working the counter was super friendly, good with the customers, and seemed to be enjoying his job.

Connie G.

Yelp
Food good love the cheesesteak sub with sweet peppers. Usually order to go since I live up the street always ready in 10/15 mins.

Ann W.

Yelp
Always delicious- amazing cheesesteaks! Better than those in Phili! Fresh bread, great service! A family favorite!

Marty J.

Yelp
Great cheesesteaks and friendly service. Called for pick up and they were so responsive and the sandwiches were done right on time.

John M.

Yelp
Nice big juicy Philly style sandwiches. How can you go wrong with that?? In good weather eating outside is an option. Otherwise take it home and dig in.

Roger H.

Yelp
Great sandwich on a super soft roll, plenty of meat and cheese, mushroom, peppers and black olives! No taps but nice selection of bottle and can brews. Fries are as greasy good as they get! Prices vary by sandwich, but most extra toppings come gratis.

Linda T.

Yelp
I had the Mushroom Philly and it was fantastic and the bread is wonderful, I can't wait to try more selections

Rachel S.

Yelp
I've probably been here at least a dozen times and I love that they're always consistent with how they make their sandwiches. I love whatever bread they use. It's soft but substantial so the toppings don't soak through. My go to sandwich now is the bell pepper sandwich with extra cheese and they do a great job each time.

Kathy L.

Yelp
We always go here when we're craaving a cheese steak! We always get the mushroom cheese steak ($13?- prices went up from the old pics of the menu on yelp). The bread is so soft and pillowy! There's a perfect amount of steak to cheese to mushroom ratio. Don't forget to get the accoutrements!!! Drinks: wine, beers on draft and soda fountain BTW, on Mondays from 5:30-9 (dine in only) 50% off cheesesteaks! Yeah, that's right... I said it... HALF OFF! You're welcome.

Edward L.

Yelp
If you are looking for some good, classic, Philly Cheese Steaks. This is the spot to check out. I mean, what else is better than a roll with double meat (gotta do double peeps), smothered with cheese, topped with peppers and mushrooms? Trick question, NOTHING. I also just heard, Half OFF on Mondays... What?

Scott H.

Yelp
Shave five minutes for a five star. I understand that this online ordering thing is kind of uncharted territory but my only complaint is that I think they need to streamline their strategy. I thought an unacceptable amount of time passed before my order even hit the grill. That being said, the wait was the worst part of the experience. I like the taste and texture of mushrooms. I got the mushroom steak and I love the big meaty pieces of fresh mushrooms in it. I don't know how authentic the American cheese is but it makes a good combo with the steak. Not too salty and not too wet or too dry. Love the rolls too. Again I don't really care about authenticity. I liked it. I'll come back but we gotta get this timing thing down better.

Justin B.

Yelp
Wanting to come here for long long time because I really love cheesesteaks! Great atmosphere and service. Very surprised how good the local Portland bakery roll was. Changed my mind on an amoroso being necessary for a cheesesteak. Unfortunately the steak itself was very charred. It has been 2 hours since I ate the sandwich and that is still all I can taste. The beer that they brew was really good! I am pretty sure if this was cooked right it would have been an amazing cheesesteak. Really hope I can return one of these days and give it another shot. They do also own thirteen virtues brewing so this may be a good opportunity to try the cheesesteak again.

Candy M.

Yelp
The cheesesteak hoagie is our favorite and better at this location than any other we have tried. Worth driving an extra mile.

Micah T.

Yelp
My go-to place in West Linn when a cheesesteak is calling my name. I can walk here when I feel the craving for a sandwich and beer while I wait. I have never had a bad experience and the staff is always friendly.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
A group of us ordered take out for lunch. I was surprised I hadn't heard of the place before since I'm a sucker for sandwiches especially a good Philly cheesesteak. I ordered the pepper cheesesteak and it met my expectations. I only wish there was a little more cheese so I think I will order extra cheese next time. I love everything with extra cheese. Prices are decent for what you get.

Victoria J.

Yelp
LOVE these Philly sandwiches! Best in town. You really can't go wrong here. Made fresh to order and comes out piping hot!

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had. The bread is perfect and the meat is juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned! So glad this place is only a ten minute drive, and the guys working during the day are super friendly!

Peter F.

Yelp
I'm trying to understand what kind of business you guys are running here? My last few experiences here have been absolutely awful, but tonight really takes the cake. First of all, every single online page (Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor) has your hours as closing at 9 pm. Your door says 9 pm. I had been calling well before 8 pm, multiple times, & my friend tried to call as well, but got absolutely no answer for like 20 minutes of trying. Now, as a reader, you may ask 'why would you keep calling'? Well, the answer is, because I knew I was being ignored. 7:30 pm is well before 9 pm, at least it seems like it to me, so I decided to drive over there and see what was going on. I walked in at about 8:10 pm to an open door & lights on, & was told that the place closed for the night, and that it closes at 8pm now. Ok, well that is all fine and good, I can accept that, *except, I called at 7:30pm, plenty of time before the 'new closing hours'. I also live close too, so there's no reason I couldn't have been in before 8, & that would've been 3 double meat & cheese pepper cheese steaks, like $60 in missed business. I asked the guy who was there last night (August 11, 2021) if the phone worked, & he gave me this smug look, & said "I was probably taking out the garbage." Ok guy, I know when I'm being lied to; No one takes the trash out for that long. That was planned. I called for 20 minutes & knew straight up that you didn't want to answer, based on what time it was. Because guess what? ...If you just don't answer calls, you really don't have to work. I have to wonder, does the owner think is this acceptable behavior? Secondly, Im not sure exactly how new your iPad system for paying is, but it is only a few years old, & I feel like the quality of my sandwiches has entirely to do with how much I tip on the the iPad when I pay with my card. *Or* what kind of mood the cook is in that day. Sorta two negatives working against you from the beginning. I've tested this theory and I definitely get better sandwiches after I tip 30%. I honestly don't want to pay & tip until my sandwiches are done, because I never know what I may be getting. I even mentioned these shenanigans to my mother tonight, (because she likes cheese steaks too), & she told me she definitely has had this experience as well sometimes. In her exact words, "Yeah, I always feel like I'm being a burden to the employees when I'm in there." I was so astonished to hear her say this, that I decided to come write this review. Even asking for a beer while I wait, seems to be a chore. I have no doubt people will come for cheese steaks, & I'll even say they can be tasty on some days, but as a customer, just know, it's a roll of the dice what you get day by day. You heard it right here, & I encourage readers to think of this review if you have a similar experience. It's definitely a roll of the dice what mood your cook might be in as well, & it doesn't feel like a welcoming place. It's literally like the employees have zero desire to be there, & it seems that they would just prefer it would be slow, so they can get their hourly wages, & get through he day. No consistency, smug attitudes, terrible customer service, & it really makes me sad, because I used to enjoy coming here. If you do decide to eat here, & *if you want decent food*, you should come at an off hour, in the middle of the day, on a week day, & bring cash, so they don't purposely give you mediocre sandwiches for not tipping their pre-programmed 30%. I'm extremely disappointed how my family & I have been treated here, & I empathize with anyone who's had a similar experience. Signed, a local who's been eating here for 10+ years.

Dan F.

Yelp
The gang got together and we decided on cheese steaks. We made the 30 minute drive out to Lake O to visit this sandwich shop we have been hearing about. I got to say, worth the drive! I ordered a mushroom cheesesteak and the wife ordered the Philadelphia's cheesesteak sandwich. We each had them cut in half and we traded a half for a half. I have to warn you about the horseradish, it is on point! So be careful not to over do it. The house hot sauce is also very tasty. They have around 8 beers on tap. I would return with out a single complaint.

Sierra S.

Yelp
I got the cheesesteak and it tasted so good. However, I ordered online and they didn't have my order ready when I was there 20 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. I ordered online and they said I didn't make an order. After examining his device, he said "oh now I see it" and had me wait to make it. I was on a time crunch so this wasn't ideal but the food ended up tasting so good that I only took off one star for the delay. They didn't offer anything extra for their mistake either. Oh well, I'll still come back.

Sam B.

Yelp
My lord, I LOVE their phillies. I usually get a Cheesesteak Hoagie because I love that it comes with all the fixins plus more. My BF loves the Pepper Steak. I have to always fight the urge to order a Meatball and/or Italian Sausage to eat later. FYI -- Philly shares a space with 13 Virtues Brewing. Pro tip: Enjoy a beer while you wait for the hoags.

Cottie H.

Yelp
Unfortunately, there has not yet been a language or font created to effectively express the joy of a delicious Philly done right. So, words: They serve the. Best.Philly. I have ever had! Full disclosure: I have not yet had a Philly in the City of Brotherly Love or any place else Easterly. But this place is on-par w/ the mall Steak Escapes that my bestie and I used to low-key cut class for. They also have diff varieties and Italian sammy delights if ur not going for the obv. Tender, savory, juicy and all melted into a hot, steaming mess of beefy delight. Service is always on-point too. I don't get out to this place often as it's far flung for me, but they are the living, grilling demise of my vegan aspirations.

Daniel W.

Yelp
Just watched a customer get jacked on his order then the manager went jerk on the guy for asking to get his money back this place has gone down hill

Viv L.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided to get lunch. People there were friendly and nice. It wasn't that crowded, once we sat down to wait for our food, people start coming in. We both ordered the Mushroom Cheese Steak. The sandwiches were huge. Besides the cheese and onions, we added ketchup because it was a bit dry. It was delicious! I definitely recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood or just craving for a Philly Cheese Steak.

Shiloh W.

Yelp
I absolutely love the sandwiches here! They are slightly expensive but super tasty and always made fresh! When allowed, the inside environment is comfortable and the service is good. I wouldn't mind if they added a few more side dishes to the menu for appetizers and such.

Cassandra C.

Yelp
I loved the warm wood and inviting interior. Philadelphia's is very cozy and casual. Unfortunately several very aggressive flies found the environment just as comfortable. We tried the Cheese Steaks. One original and one with mushrooms. I recommend the mushroom one if you like mushrooms as they add more bulk and flavor to the sandwich. The Cheese Steaks are priced high at $11 and $12 each. The bread was nice and squishy. The meat was shaved perfectly and everything tasted in order. However, the bread to meat ratio was considerably off for the price. It was hard to really enjoy the flavor of the meat with so much bread. I was a little disappointed. Almost a quarter of the hoagie was bread without meat or cheese. A little more cheese would have been nice to bind the meat into the creamy mess of a meat that we enjoy on our Philly's. I'll keep looking for that perfect Cheese Steak in our area, somewhere out there...

Bill N.

Yelp
I use to love this place food has gone down hill but the staff has no business helping people if they feel that bad about there job. I had enough when I heard one of your employees screaming and swearing at a customer . I just left and won't be back I don't want to be the next on his rage rants.

Francois P.

Yelp
Second visit And equally nice All about the staff. Chris and Zack thank you. At the end of your shift You both gave my son and I the best welcome, advices, suggestions, food and drink. You say you are an happy employee. Well it shows. Thank you both.

Roger H.

Yelp
Great sandwich on a super soft roll, plenty of meat and cheese, mushroom, peppers and aroma!

Brad K.

Yelp
I was super excited when this food cart opened for business! Unfortunately, the food was kind of a let down. The meat was over cooked and the bun was dried out. It took 35 minutes for my sandwich to be made. I'm hoping it's just because they're new and are working the bugs out. For now 2 stars is all I can give.

Sarah G.

Yelp
I always grab a sandwich on my lunch break since I work nearby and every sandwich I've ever had has been amazing. They are a huge bang for your buck! I call in and read off what I want from the online menu (check out their website it's really user friendly) and it's ready for pickup within 10 minutes. The Italian Special and the Cheesesteak are my favorite! They are both piled high with meat and cheese and vegetables! They are so big I can eat half for lunch and then half the other half for dinner. The staff I've interacted with are always very friendly, and service is quick. Great facility as well-I've never eaten in but it has a lot of seating, is well lit, and very well maintained. There is also outdoor seating! Parking is somewhat limited but there is plenty of street parking and other lots to use around them.

Sarai H.

Yelp
Had a mushroom cheesesteak and it was delicious. I'm from the east coast and used to cheesewiz on my cheesesteaks, but their cheese/sauce is great here. Only complaint is I wish there was more cheese on top and not just under the meat. The bread was so, so soft and squishy and tasty. The mushrooms were ridiculously flavorful. The cheesesteak was incredibly filling, you probably don't need to bother buying chips. Really, the thing that made this place 5 stars for me personally was the atmosphere and the customer service. Super kind employees made suggestions on my order since it was my first time. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was empty. I have no idea why this place isn't more popular. There was fantastic music playing, free pool (which really helped pass the time while waiting for my sandwich, not that it was long), and there's video poker machines. This was such a fun place to hang out at, and they definitely deserve more business.

Matt G.

Yelp
After reading reviews I was excited to try this place. Honestly I was pretty disappointed. The meat was not as thinly sliced as I would have hoped and had little seasoning on it. I'm sure I am gonna catch hell for this but I would rather go to Jersey Mikes then eat here.

Shawna B.

Yelp
Just popped in to the new Sister's location. Split a mushroom steak and Italian hogie with my hubby. Both delish! Serving beer from their brewery in portland. The porter and lager were perfect pairings with the sandwiches. Owner was super friendly and service was spot on. I would highly recommend this when visiting Sisters or on your way through to Bend.

Bob 5.

Yelp
So pretty damn good sandwich although not much meat or cheese if I go again I'll definitely splurge for extra meat and cheese because to me a Philly steak should be dripping with cheese and packed with steak
