They serve a lot of food, it’s definitely worth the money. I wasn’t able to finish anything, had to take it to go. The service there is great and it was quite empty when I went (9pm on a Saturday). The bathroom could be better, but other than that it was a nice experience.

Philippe Chow offers a fantastic dining experience with a chic atmosphere and exceptional service. The menu features expertly crafted dishes including but not limited to really juicy dumplings, perfectly seasoned lobster fried rice, moist and savory chicken satay.. The staff is attentive and ensures a memorable meal. Sebastian was our waiter for the evening , he was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. He made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing, and his recommendations were spot on. His professionalism really enhanced our dining experience, and we truly appreciated his warmth and attention to detail. Would love to have him serve us again! A perfect choice for a special night out. Highly recommend!

Not fine dinning, not even regular dining, just bad. Me and my bf came for the $45 3 course restaurant week and were very disappointed in the food, service, atmosphere, almost everything. Right off the bat the waiter was wearing a white coat 3 sizes too big and covered in stains and then did not come to check on us once after we ordered to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. At 8:30pm they turned the lights way down and started blasting music, we had to yell at each other the rest of the meal. Tables were way too small for family style so every time they brought something over we were shuffling stuff around and having to pick up our drinks and reorganize things. Bathroom was not clean and in disrepair, no toilet paper holder, broken flush button on the toilet and weird shared sink area…so bad I actually took a picture to show my bf. Food reviews as follows Dumplings sampler: shrimp filling was okay but wrappers super soggy. vegetable and chicken had no flavor. Lo mein: this was fine but have had similar or better at takeout places Chicken satay: horrible, could not eat it, sauce was horrible and chicken had no flavor, flagged down a manager and sent it back. Crispy beef: way too sweet, it was like eating candy and mostly breading with tiny thin slices of meat Bejing chicken: also very sweet but overall fine, again have had better from takeout Veggie fried rice: okay but again I’ve had better takeout fried rice for way less money. Green beans: fine Desserts: nothing amazing but closest thing to “fine dinning” They did give us the 20% discount that they usually give when someone was staying in the hotel so that was nice but also auto 20% gratuity. Overall our bill was $136 for the 2 of us which I think is both the most expensive and least good Chinese food we have ever had. There are way better places for Chinese food in nyc that are cheaper and provide a more luxurious experience.

Been here numerous times and loved it every time. Sebastian was an amazing waiter, 10/10.

I went here with family for my birthday dinner. Reservations were flexible thankfully, and we were quickly seated upon arrival. We got to order from the summer tasting menu which is a prefixed menu. The selections were great, and everything was really good. However after we ordered dinner, service began to slow down drastically. I noticed parties who had arrived after us, finishing up and leaving before us. Also the crispy beef was a little more crispy than it was beef. again the food was really good, with the exception of the crispy beef being too crispy, and slow service toward the end of our visit. The Beijing chicken, pork dumplings, shrimp and chicken satay , green beans, and fried rice were really good.I like this locations feel and look more than the other. I would still dine here without a doubt.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Philippe Chow in Downtown NYC, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience, blending Beijing-style cuisine with upscale decor and impeccable service. The food was truly exceptional. We started with the crispy beef and scallion pancakes, which were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For our main course, we ordered the chicken satay, Peking duck, and black pepper beef, and each dish was outstanding. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation of each dish was visually stunning. The ambiance of Philippe Chow was also noteworthy. The upscale decor and lighting created an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere, making it the perfect place for a special occasion or romantic dinner. The attention to detail was apparent in every aspect of the restaurant's design, from the exquisite table settings to the elegant lighting fixtures. What truly sets Philippe Chow apart, however, is the exceptional service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs, and every request was met with enthusiasm and a smile. Overall, I highly recommend Philippe Chow to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Downtown NYC. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is elegant and refined, and the service is truly exceptional. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and memorable dining experience.

I dined at this location last night to celebrate my wedding anniversary. I was extremely disappointed from the moment the server came over to the dinner table. Getial J never introduced himself, just ask if he could get us something to drink. I had to ask him his name and was he our server for the evening. Never ask if we were celebrating anything he was just super dry for 7:30pm and not friendly. I did not enjoy my food as well which was a bummer since we traveled from a far. I wont be returning or recommending this location. I made a note on my reservation that I was celebrating my anniversary so that made my experience even more disappointing.

Yelp
Can never go wrong with the salt & pepper prawns & lobster fried rice! Between the Dj and Joy the bartender--the service & drinks are always great.

Yelp
Had cousins in from out of town last week and wanted to show them amazing Chinese food. Coming in the door and down the mirrored staircase made for a fun photo op. I had been to Philippe Chow before and loved it!! Philippe Chow did not disappoint. We started off with the best Lychee Martini ever! They were deliciously perfect! We then had the wonton soup and pork Spareribs , some of the best I've ever had! We then ordered dinner.. Chicken Low mein, Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice, sweet-and-sour Chicken & the most delicious Grand Marnier Prawns. Our food came out hot and timely and the portions were very generous. Service was just as great, even General Manager Kostas stopped by our table to make sure everything was up to par. And it was. This certainly was a dinner to remember and for all the right reasons. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you Steve W.

Yelp
Not a place for me personally. Cool scene to go out. Its clubby atmosphere. We had satay, orange chicken, bok choy. Servers wear white uniforms and there are white table cloths.

Christina M.

Yelp
Dined here for happy hour and I think I found my new favorite spot! Anywhere that has a $10 lychee martini on the menu is a place for me! Happy hour is only at the bar so better to go early to snag a spot. They have a selection of cocktails for $10 as well as small bites like lettuce wraps, chicken or beef satay, dumplings, spring roll etc on the menu for $10. We ordered a round a lychee martinis and they are delicious and generously filled. The lettuce wraps are a must and the beef satay skewers are huge although the sauce is a little sweet for my liking but overall it's a great spot to go to.

Christos V.

Yelp
Philippe exudes elegance with its modern yet classical atmosphere. The impeccably dressed waitstaff enhance the refined experience with top-tier service. Every Asian fusion dish is a perfect balance of bold flavors and stunning presentation. For a stylish night out or special occasion, Philippe is a must-visit.

Joseph T.

Yelp
One of the most fine dining experiences I've had at a restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly, the chicken satay was to die for and the lychee martini is my new favorite drink and the ambience is great.

Maria P.

Yelp
I am a returning customer at Philippe, I've been to some of their other locations including uptown and DC but this location always does it! Service is great, ambience is amazing and the food is out of this world!

Emilia R.

Yelp
I had came to this upscale Chinese chain a few nights ago to celebrate a friends birthday. It was pretty empty when we arrived for our 7 pm reservation, but the area began to fill up within our 2 hours there. Also understand that the restaurant is in a basement, so there is no windows and you have to walk down a staircase to get to the actual restaurant. Floors are extremely slippery We opted for the golden tasting experience which featured 14 courses and a dessert tasting menu. They offered high end food items which was pretty good. The food was good. But it was just that. Good. I was not overtly impressed for the price. I found the cost was comparable to Michelin star restaurants while not offering the Michelin experience. That is not to say the service wasn't good, it was very good, but not what I was expecting for this price point. $$$$ For Americanized Chinese food, it really was good. Would I come again? Probably not. But it was a fun experience!

Aimee G.

Yelp
Just wonderful. The service was excellent The restaurant was perfect. Great real nyc night out. Get the lychee martini. Lobster fried rice. Filet. Dumplings. Get it all. And have fun it's the spot

Niqua L.

Yelp
You have to walk down stairs to get into the restaurant so it's not accessible for guests w mobile devices. The food is delicious and definitely get the cheesecake to go if available.

Drew L.

Yelp
If you're looking for reasonable priced, authentic Chinese cuisine....this is not it. Possibly the worse Chinese food I've ever had. Service was aight. Decor was dark. Overall, will never come back.

Marina A.

Yelp
7.5/10 experience. I came here to celebrate my anniversary and was kind of underwhelmed by the staff. Not sure if they do celebrations or offer complimentary cake but they did not mention it. Service was a bit slow even while empty. I suggest going before 7 because the restaurant isn't big and it gets crowded fast. Food was okay, I was a bit disappointed by it, it needed more seasonings. Wait staff didn't seem to know a lot of English either, not an issue just an observation. Not sure I'd come back.

Cassie C.

Yelp
You can expect to have a solid dining experience here that is on par with other restaurants in the area. The decor is simple, nice, clean and not terribly kid friendly. The service was pretty good. Food & Drink Highlights: 1. Get the Sangria if you're not in the mood for a strong cocktail 2. Sauce used for Satay was too overpowering for me so heads up on that. 3. Vegetable Lo Mein was lightly flavored; chew slowly so you don't miss it. 4. They are definitely using Prawns in their entree and not Jumbo Shrimp; I appreciated this. 5. There is more cream in the serving of Red Velvet Cake than actual cake. I probably should have tried Philippe Chow when they were newly in town and definitely before I dined at Brooklyn Chop House. I left wanting more flavor.

Sara S.

Yelp
Excellent experience at Philipe Downtown. Amazing food, get the Nutella beignets! Lobster fried rice and the ribs were really good.

Jason R.

Yelp
It's been many years since my last visit, but I still recall having a wonderful experience and my most recent visit was equally as pleasurable. We were the first people to arrive when they opened and were immediately seated. The server was personable and helpful. As my friends had a lot of questions. I went with my usual staple of filet Mignon and broccoli with a side of brown rice. My friends went with the chicken and the pepper steak. We also added calamari as an appetizer, but the sauce it came with was extremely spicy and I barely got through one piece. Overall, I was very pleased with everything here, the service, as they constantly checked in us and provide a sparkler last minute for the birthday we were celebrating.

Lena R.

Yelp
I went to Philippe with my Friends! They offer an all-around fantastic experience: amazing food, great ambiance, and outstanding service. It's a place where the whole dining experience comes together in perfect harmony. The entire team worked seamlessly to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's rare to find such a combination of efficiency and genuine care. Thank you, Sebastian and team, for making our visit so enjoyable. We'll definitely be back!

B C.

Yelp
Being unfamiliar with the brand but a lover of high end Beijing Cuisine, I was excited when I checked into the Dream hotel next door to see the restaurant. The signage with the strict dress code and "luxury" experience excited me even more. What a disappoint it was. Not sure if it's just this location and management but what a confusing concept. I'm not sure the brand knows what it is. Far from high end and luxury that's for certain. Thumping hip hop music, bright lights and untrained staff. Dumpling sampler was a basket of overcooked soggy falling apart slop. Filet Mignon with beans was very good - only reason for the 2 stars. Price point meets the description but underdelivered in the execution. Never again.

Fernando R.

Yelp
The service was excellent here, and the music playlist was awesome although the volume was high enough that I had to really try hard to have a conversation. My server was good. The food wasnt awesome and for the price point I was expecting it to be better. The chicken flat noodle I didnt enjoy maybe I just mad a poor meal choice since it was my first visit. The fried rice was ok and so were the duck egg rolls. Over all the service atmosphere were great but the food was a little underwhelming. Wheelchair accessibility: Its down a long long set of steps if there is an alternative means of entering I dont know but by what I observed its not wheel chair friendly.

Shanna L.

Yelp
Most of my experience has been with their delivery. I have been to their restaurant years ago and the service was good. It has a very night club feel on the inside! Tonight I order deliver: chicken wonton soup, shrimp fried rice and the stir fry veggies. The chicken wonton soup is incredible. The wontons are delicious. The broth is tasty and delicate. I often order this and it is always delicious. The shrimp fried rice was also very good. It had a lot of shrimp and was not too greasy. I wanted a little more egg. The stir fried vegetables reminded me why I can never love this spot. The veggies were soaked in a clear fluid that tasted like a hint of garlic and cornstarch. It felt like a bad imitation of a "shrimp with lobster sauce." I have ordered other sauce based dishes from this restaurant, such as the sweet and spicy chicken, and I remember the red sauce being very sweet and very sticky. It was not appetizing. The chicken was white meat but heavily breaded. The food arrived fast today. The prices are expensive. For the quality of the food overall and the price point it is hard to justify the meal. They will do coupons on Uber eats such as $15 off $45 which helps.

Bibi B.

Yelp
Had a great meal here! I recommend the pork soup dumplings, they were great. I also enjoyed the chicken satay. I think I would've preferred the lo mein as a side instead of the fried rice (underwhelming), but everything was enjoyable!

Ilianette M.

Yelp
Where do I begin!! Philippe's never lets me down. My family and I came to celebrate my daughter's 2nd birthday. They were extremely accommodating- they sat us in the side room where we can enjoy the music, but it wasn't too loud. They spaced out our dishes brilliantly so that the table never felt overwhelmed with food and constantly replenished our beverages. The food was top notch. We had the spicy prawns, chicken satay, crab legs, lettuce wraps, dumplings, spring rolls, and so much more. Everything was fresh and flavorful. I will continue to come back to Philippe's and would highly recommend them!

Nerdy N.

Yelp
I need to know what the f they're marinating their meat in... cause that shit is juicy as hell. Warmed it up the next day - still juicy. Service was great too (music's a bit too loud for my taste) but the food is stellar here.

TaNeisha J.

Yelp
I've been told a time or two that I'm hard to please when it comes to food. Sue me! Philippe Chow was just ok. Yes, the food was tasty, but it wasn't anything that I would write home about. Service: On a weekday evening, it was fairly busy. Our waiter was attentive. Food was served with lightening speed, which made me question the freshness. Food: I ordered the Special Prawns. It was paired with a tangy/sweet sauce. I ordered broccoli as my side. The prawns were sizeable. The broccoli had a crunch -- which I appreciated. Hate mushy veggies. I was able to try other dishes, such as the Szechuan Chicken. I had anticipated some spice, but it was not spicy at all. The flavor was a bit sweet. I enjoyed it. Overall, Philippe Chow was just ok. I wouldn't visit again.

Melissa S.

Yelp
After hearing about this restaurant for years, my friend and I decided to finally stop by. We came on a Thursday night and and I'd say the restaurant wasn't too busy. We ordered several things on the menu and I was pleased by them all. My favorites were the veggie lo mein, crispy beef, and the Filet Mignon was delicious and super tender. I wasn't wow'd by the chicken satay, which is what they are popularly known for but not a big deal. I did also try another popular staple on the menu which is their Lychee Martini...it was good but ehh I'd say a bit weak. I loved the little touches like the chop stick holder being a cute panda...and the infamous "Philippe" plates. Service was fast, which is what I also liked about dining here. I'd say its pretty on par with the other popular "high end" Chinese spots around the city. I'm not in a rush to return but the food was worth a visit if you havent been already.

Ashly D.

Yelp
Philippe Chow was pretty good. Better than I expected. The food was pretty good and the service was just as great. The location is super nice and perfect for an intimate outing. I recommend this spot, especially that they are participating in restaurant week (weekdays only) and the prices are more affordable as this restaurant can be very expensive. Head over and enjoy.

Saasha G.

Yelp
Wanted to try here for a while and had the opportunity to dine during restaurant week. I'm glad I did because the food is good but it was underwhelming. The lychee martini however was really good . The chicken satay wasn't my favorite but that beef with string beans , I would eat everyday. My shrimp was swimming in that sweet syrup sauce and 8 would prefer less sauce.

Imani M.

Yelp
Came here during restaurant week & what a treat! My family and I had just the best experience & treatment from our server Roberto! He really was amazing! Food was delicious! The DJ top tier !! I can't wait to experience it again when I visit NYC again !! Thank you Roberto !!!

Chika D.

Yelp
I had to hit up one more restaurant before Restaurant Week came to an end. Enter Philippe. I made RSVPs for my friend and myself for Friday (Aug. 12) 10pm. If not for the huge panda outside, it could be easy to miss Philippe, considering it is surrounded by Tao, Bodega Negra, and Dream Downtown. Upon entrance, we were greeted by a bouncer and climbed the stairs to the restaurant. We were a half hour late (NYC parking, the usual) but were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't full at all. As Restaurant Wk goes, you're to choose an appetizer, entree and dessert. I chose the vegetable lo-mein as my starter and I began to worry because the lo-mein was extremely bland. However, redemption occurred because the crispy beef (my entree) was flavorful and not cloyingly sweet. It paired so well with the fried rice. The portions are pretty large, if you ask me. For dessert, I chose the red velvet cake. Also a yummy bite. My friend chose shrimp satay, special prawns with fried rice, and red velvet cake for her appetizer, entree and dessert, respectively. She enjoyed it but especially liked the crispy beef, which I shared some with her. The music was fantastic - hip-hop from today and yesteryear. I would return to try other food items from the menu

Neds B.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance were really good, no complaints. I would def rec this restaurant to friends, family, and out-of-towners.

ChiChi A.

Yelp
Had the opportunity to experience both Restaurants and I must say they are completely different. This one in particular is the party restaurant. If you want an intimate setting with just you and you're significant other don't come to this Philippe Chow lol. This restaurant was lit and it definitely understood the assignment of keeping everyone entertained and served. The only con and you will only know this is a con if you've gone to both restaurants. The food downtown is not as good as the other Philippe Chow surprisingly. Again, you won't know that comparison unless you've experienced both restaurants. Nevertheless the food is still good it's just not great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you don't mind loud music, sitting close to another party and overpriced food lol.

Joey C.

Yelp
Amazing! My family and I came for a birthday dinner and had a fabulous time. We ordered apps, entrees and dessert and everything was amazing. The ambiance was calm, chill, and relaxing. Our server, Roberto, provided the most outstanding service and took great care of us. Can't wait to come back! :)

Sara C.

Yelp
Squeaked in just before the kitchen closed. Service was friendly enough. Place is kind of dark and grungy. I expected more given the description of traditional Beijing cuisine. With such a specific cuisine descriptor, I would have expected a more traditional menu. Instead, it was full of American Chinese dishes, most of which aren't found in Beijing (eg wonton soup and fried rice are southern dishes). I got the soup anyway because I was only looking for a quick dinner. The broth was bland and full of shredded lettuce?! Wontons were so so, but pretty flavorless. The green salad was not bad and a healthy portion, but you don't really come to a Chinese restaurant for salad, do you? They automatically charge 20% gratuity! And they don't let you charge to the room at the Dream Downtown hotel. Very odd.

Michelle O.

Yelp
Seafood Chelle strikes again..Philippe has been on my list to try and I was finally able to partake. Grabbed my gal pal and we headed out to get our grub on. It is a low key intimate setting, if you're looking to turn up...ummmm this is not the place lol. Seating is a little close but doable . Staff very welcoming which is a major factor as to me it can make or break the dining experience. We had appetizers, main meal, dessert and yummy drinks. BTW.. this was a Restaurant Week Experience. Enjoyed every bite. Definitely recommended for friends gathering, date night or just dinner. Definitely use the Seated App for reservations my referral code is michelle1454. Why not reap some rewards for eating out. You're welcome. Chow for now.

Carlan M.

Yelp
Went for restaurant week this year and we opted for the 45 dollar option. It was three of us and we had to pay mandatory gratuity of 20 percent which hiked the bill up to 68. The resurgent is very beautiful nest clean. The service is second to none. There is staff everywhere with whatever you need whenever you need it. Food came out quickly and the serving sizes were delicious. The lemonade was a bit tangy . Favorite item was def the red velvet cake!

Jasmin G.

Yelp
Had an ok experience here. Came for restaurant week dinner. Started with the lychee martini and it was strong and delicious! The 2 apps we got were the chicken satay and the veggie lo mein. Noodles were good but nothing special. The chicken satay... not sure what everyone raves about. It tasted EXACTLY like the chicken in the McChicken from McDonald's. It definitely wasn't bad but it's not a typical satay flavor, so prepare for that. The sauce on it has a very mild flavor. Both entrees - the Beijing Chicken and the Curried Tofu - were excellent! We got them with the crispy cauliflower and veggie fried rice. All good portions, too. The dessert cakes were matcha cake and passionfruit cake. The matcha cake didn't really taste like matcha but it was good! Passionfruit cake was very sweet but had a good flavor. It's a nice spot but I do think a bit overpriced for what you're getting. Also note - they automatically put 20% tip on the bill and the service wasn't the best, which is why is docked a star despite the food being decent.

Shurida L.

Yelp
I had the crispy beef, the Beijing chicken & the pork fried rice. Service was fast, we were seated immediately even though we were early to our reservation. I had the Philippe Sidecar, a French 75, and the Philippe Passion, all great drinks. I didn't really enjoy the beef but the chicken was really good. For appetizers, we had the scallion pancakes and the shrimp spring rolls, both great options. It's a beautiful, classy restaurant and I would go back.

Idania D.

Yelp
My daughter brought me here for my birthday dinner. It was a weeknight and not crowded at all. Our waiter was very gracious as was the rest of the staff. The space is modern and spacious. The food was very good but a bit pricey for the cuisine. I am not a cocktail drinker but their Lychee martini is very good. They have a few nice areas for those Instagram moments -hence the hip vibe.

Kalila W.

Yelp
I appreciated the multi-person service provided. Outside of my main waiter, i was checked on by multiple ppl meaning if i needed anything, there definitely wouldn't be any long wait or 'please ask your server'. Food was tasty too.. got the surf and turf and I'm glad the lobster had a sauce on it because i could tell it was a bit bland (waiter actually warned me that the lobster app i was about to order was bland so props for the honesty, i skipped it and saved me coins lol). The pineapple sorbet at the end was damn good and i really enjoyed the Lychee Martini- more places need to add coconut cream to it!

Marc B.

Yelp
DON'T GO HERe. About as over-priced and underwhelming experience as you can imagine. Decor seems like 1980's mid-tier chinese restaurant. We did the tasting menu at $145 per person. First - I've never had a chefs tasting menu where the chef didn't come out. And - the food was fine. Meh. Not bad but nothing great. Not much better than any above average Chinese food. Service was mediocre- at best. For that price, I have high expectations and they were far from met. Food came out so fast, we were so rushed. No offers of sauces. Poor serving utensils for family style. And auto put a 20% tip for 8 ppl. Just wildly underwhelming and would only tell others to skip it. And - now that I'm doing the math in my head - WTH were we thinking for the tasting menu. Each person could have bought 3 or 4 dishes or so; what a waste of money. There are literally 100's of restaurants and dozens of Chinese restaurants in NYC that you'd have a better experience at.

Reggie M.

Yelp
Philippe Downtown is our first choice for restaurant week summer 2021. This place is in the basement with few outdoor tables options. We came slightly early to our reservation but were seated in no time at all. It's a 3-course dinner for $39, for the starter I selected chicken satay and my partner chose vegetable Lo Mein with a suggested bottle of Rosé. It did not take long and they served the appetizers. The chicken Satay was delicious, however as I picked up the chicken satay stick from the plate the server behind me immediately took the plate with the "famous" sate sauce left and run away with it. So we never get to taste the special sauce this restaurant is boasting about. (In fairness, he asked if he can take the plate away but it was gone before we could answer) The filet mignon beef and crispy beef were both delicious and filling although again the side dishes were cleared before we could finish. We felt rushed the entire time and the service felt transactional, not genuine and no warmth. It really did not feel very welcoming. Why so cold?! It's the middle of summer!

Meek M.

Yelp
Food was trash. Dumplings were disgusting. Egg rolls were drenched in grease. Food was cold upon arrival. Drinks were watered down. Very overpriced. I give 2 stars due to the service being great.

Annie Y.

Yelp
I'm still salivating over their various dishes. Also best lychee martini I've ever had. Wonderful staff.

Javone B.

Yelp
Y'all....when I tell you I have been waiting YEARS to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Let me start by saying when I saw that it was NY Restaurant Week (which is actually a month lol) I immediately checked which restaurants were participating, and when I saw Philippe Chow o got so excited and giddy. I immediately emailed my Sorors with some dates and it was on. I made the reservation (highly suggested you do too) and patiently waited. This experience was worth everything I had heard. They sat my Sorors who all unknowingly came early (I told them 8, but really it was 8:30 lol) which I thought was really nice. Some places won't seat you until your full party arrives. Now keep it mind NYRW has a prefix menu, which I was aware of. So everyone's entire meal was $60 ($15 extra if you order a Lychee Martini). I swear we felt like we were robbing them. All of the food we got for $60 was incredible. I had the shrimp satay, filet mignon with green beans, vegetable fried rice and red velvet cake. And baaaaaaby that food was so good. The table was practically quiet while we all enjoyed our food. It didn't need salt, sauce or anything. It was perfect. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable. Our server was so attentive and funny. Let me mention an additional Lychee Martini was $19. The atmosphere was amazing also. They played light RnB until about 10p then the music changed to 90's hiphop. The vibe is a 10. The whole restaurant looked NYC good. Fashion was on point even in the casualist way. Like I said I waited literally since the late 1990's to eat here and it didn't disappoint. NYRW is until Aug 21, so run don't walk to experience this NYC treasure.

Yelp
I was staying in dreams downtown and decided to go to the lower level and eat at phillips.food was mediocre and expensive. my issue was with the servers, they were mocking people behind their backs including myself. I have a visible disability. i could not get out of there quick enough.I left there spending over $125.00 for my meal but mostly I left embarrassed and hurt and angry that a supposedly high end restaurant would tolerate that nonsense as the adolescent behavior was very visible. I visit New York fairly often. I have no problem what I asked to pay for my food or drink, I also tip very well. what I do expect is to be respected.

Yelp
The new happy hour is a smash. The bartender Kris took great care of us. I have frequented Phillipe Chow uptown for years but the service and quality at downtown is just as good.

Yelp
I've always heard people talking about Philippe Chow over the years and how it is a super popular hot spot. I did the research and they are very pricey (and I just refuse to pay that kind of money for Chinese food). It's one of those spots that lots of New Yorkers have on their "To Do" list. It's sexy and ultra chic. I was browsing the current selection of restaurants participating in NY Restaurant Week and to my surprise Philippe Chow (both downtown and uptown locations) were on the list. I made a reservation for the Meatpacking location right after work and there were very few people inside when I arrived so I'm assuming they opened up not too long before I arrived. The space is large and absolutely beautiful. I was seated immediately. Maxx was my server and he was polite and provided wonderful customer service during my time there. I only had water because it was only Wednesday and I try not to drink alcohol while it's still early in the week (unless it's a special occasion). Besides, the cocktails are super expensive anyway (I'm talking $20+) so even if I wanted to drink I could wait until I got home. I scanned the Restaurant Week menu ($45 for a three course meal). For the first course I chose the chicken satay. I was told it's one of the most popular appetizers as it is served in a bed of Chef Chow's famous peanut sauce. All I can say is WOW!!! The chicken was so tender and juicy. That peanut sauce is otherworldly, like I need an entire bottle of it. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they give you only two skewers (because it's the Restaurant Week menu) whereas the regular menu states three per order. Of course they don't tell you that. I had to inquire about it once my plate came out and I only saw two. Ugh! For my second course I ordered the crispy beef (comes in a sweet orange/carrot sauce). I selected the vegetable fried rice with it. They went perfect together. The vegetable fried rice was light and perfectly seasoned. The crispy beef was good overall and the sauce was delish (although some of the beef pieces were a bit tough/chewy). For dessert (third course) I ordered the red velvet cake. Not the best I've had but it was pretty good. A nice serving size to complete a delicious dinner. I took another star off because I don't like the fact that they charge an automobile 20% gratuity regardless of how many people are at the table. I was dining alone. I would give them another try in the future (but only for Restaurant Week).

Yelp
If I can describe this place would say it's overpriced Chinese food. The portions were small and not tasty. Very bland. The service was good, server was attentive. Ambiance was okay, we didn't have reservations and they were able to accommodate but I don't think it's worth it.

Yelp
I am usually leery about going to restaurants that have become cliches or overly popular but I went against my better judgment and booked what I thought would be a cool date night. I originally intended to take advantage of their restaurant week menu, but it wasn't offered at seating and we found other items on the menu we wanted to try. My husband and I would agree that we like to choose restaurants where the experience of the patron is what makes the restaurant. As we were getting started, the two parties on either side of us we wrapping up their meals and received warm towels to wipe their hands. It smelled lovely and I was already excited about it. The table to the left of us had a completely different server and the one to the right shared ours. The good: listen to the reviews about the lychee martini!! That might be my favorite drink. The ambience of the restaurant is also very nice. Needs Improvement: Our server was not super attentive to us, but clearly shared a lot in common with the table to the right of ours, offering them free shots and drinks after they received their towels. I was actually excited because it seemed like we had a waiter who was attentive to their guests. We are not people who make a big fuss out of things like that nor are we unkind to anyone in the service industry, so we were kind of puzzled by the difference in service we received. We weren't looking for freebies by a long shot, but it is a little hard not to compare your experience to others when the difference in treatment is right in your face. I don't think I would return or recommend based on my experience but if I did, I know exactly which waiter to avoid.

Yelp
I went to Sunday Brunch for a birthday dinner. The ambiance was cool and the food was great. Everything was fine until two huge fights broke out. It was insane! Bottles being thrown, food, glass. I felt so scared for my safety. My coat got ruined from champagne being thrown. It was literally out of this world. Me and my girlfriends were ducking under our table to prevent from being harmed. I have NEVER experienced this in my life! They need better security! They need to search for weapons at the door! After facing all of that, the staff didn't care who was harmed or what was damaged , they only wanted their money. They did reimburse one of our bottles because it fell and broke but overall they could care less.
