I visited San Diego and had a fantastic meal with two friends. We ordered the Full Rib Dinner with Black Bean and Corn Slaw, Chicken Wings, Corn Bread, along with two beers and a cocktail. I wasn't expecting much from the cocktails since they were reasonably priced, but they turned out to have a nice balance—not too sweet and just the right amount of alcohol. The ribs were incredibly tender and delicious on their own, but dipping them in the accompanying sauce took them to the next level. The Black Bean and Corn Slaw was a standout; I was genuinely surprised by how good it was—definitely a must-try side! Even weeks later, I still can’t forget that flavor. The Chicken Wings were a bit spicy for my taste, but they were still tasty. The Corn Bread had actual corn kernels in it, which made it even better, and they were generous with the butter. The portions were quite large, and we ended up taking some home, but I wish I could have finished it all! It was a great way to kick off my trip with such delicious food.

The bartender, Liberty was so lovely and the food was delicious. I ordered the fig and gruyere grilled cheese with Tomato soup and was not disappointed! The Lavender Gin Lemonade was fantastic and the PB&J shots are perfect. Will definitely come back!

Google
This is my favorite local bar. Great indoor and outdoor spaces, lovely staff, good prices and fabulous hotdogs. Especially love that it’s right next to the laundromat so I can hop back and forth.

Google
Great staff here! They source quality ingredients- great cheeses on the charcuterie and for grilled cheeses. The Wednesday dinner specials are divine.

Yelp
My partner and I wanted to try a new spot last night and stumbled upon Phil's... we both love a good hot dog, so this was right up our alley. We got the OG dog along with the Guy Fieri dog. The Guy Fieri dog rotates daily so you never know what you're going to get, and last night's version had vodka sauce and topped with chips... SO GOOD yet not what I was expecting at all! We also split a grilled cheese and the pretzel. All the food was awesome. Drink specials were great too. Will absolutely be adding Phil's into our regular rotation.. we are so glad to have found it!!

Yelp
Awesome bar! Super cool bartender, Liberty, she was awesome and we chatted for a while. Passionfruit margarita was great and we always get the pb&j shot. I had the pimento cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup and a friend and I split the French onion crostini - all delicious! I will definitely be back in the future!

Yelp
My fave local bar! I love you guys so much! Thank you for always supporting house gang. Ryan and Liberty are fan favorites- obviously. Drinks are always on point- the vibes are always on point and last week I pulled up on them on shrimp and grits night. WHEW CHILE!! Them jawns was hitting like my auntie and grandma southern grits do! I love how you guys always try new dishes and they are always fire. If you're in the area- go to Phil's!!!!!

Yelp
Phil's is such a reliable bar! I love that they have a fun event/special almost every night. Tuesdays are crossword puzzle nights, and other nights have karaoke/various games people can play to win X amount towards your tab. The drinks from Phil's are always strong, and there is a good variety on their menu. Pricing here is affordable ($8-12 a cocktail, $3-5 for shots), especially by NYC standards, which I appreciate!! The bartenders are all quite friendly too. I've tried a couple of different things here, but my favorite is Phil's Ass. If you're a fan of ginger beer, you'll love it too! They also do have a good menu -- still affordable but not as cheap as drinks. However, from watching the bartenders make the hot pretzels, charcuterie boards, and grilled cheese, it all looks delicious and worth it. I had an OG hot dog (which also comes in a vegan option), that I though was mediocre/okay! The atmosphere is one of a laid back friendly bar. It's mostly bar seating, with a couple of tables in the back. There's also a decent amount of board games to play with friends. All around, can't wait for my next Phil's visit.

Yelp
This place is always trying new upscale bar snacks, which is my type of food. I ate there a few time before the pandemic and always ordered one of the grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup and a lot of house wine. During the pandemic they delivered and I tried the bacon mac and cheese, spiked cider and BBQ chicken empanada I loved everything. At some point I got the special of the day, chicken pot pie and it was amazing. I love that they always have something new and delicious to try. The bar is casual and has a nice easy atmosphere, great place if I'm out by myself, a date or meetup with friends.

Yelp
Years ago, when I was a small boy, I told my teacher I wanted to be an oversexed, drug-addicted accountant when I grow up. Teacher said it would take years of work, But Anything is Possible, and then asked why I was wearing a shirt on my legs, like it was pants. I didn't have a great reply and she said she was going to grade all of my papers M (for moron) for the remainder of my scholastic career. When I became a Man, it was clear the only path forward from there was Clown College. Make no mistake, those years were no laughing matter. Anyway, this bar serve drinks good.

Yelp
Somewhere between a café and a sports bar, Phil's is a dim neighborhood gem that won't let you down. Be careful to keep a lookout for the name on the door, as there was no other obvious signage when we visited. Once inside, relax and enjoy a wide selection of beer, wine, cocktails, and foodie snacks. Happy hour runs until 8 on weekdays, so it was possible for us to get a couple drinks each, and some wasabi crunch mix, for under $35. Service was polite and friendly. I'd go back if I were in the area.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time here because Vanessa made it absolutely incredible! My friend and I couldn't believe the drink specials (happy hour all day vibe) and I personally loved the Space Juice. Beware of the cherry bomb... I ordered the pigs n a blanket and they were good. My friend got the daily special and it was delicious. I'll be dreaming of that polenta for a while...
google avatar

Eugene B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with darts, and board games in the back. Was really surprised at the quality of the bar snacks, I shared fig and gruyere grilled cheese and pigs in blankets. Was super good. Drinks were on point too. All in all amazing neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Eberechi A.

Yelp
Great bar in the neighborhood with a wonderful host/ bar tender. Good selection of wine but not so much for beer. They have regular happy hours and a free cement show on Thursdays. This could easily become a regular hangout if you live in the area.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
1.) You can't drink decent wine for a reasonable price anywhere like this joint. 2.) The owner, Vanessa, is salt of the earth. Ultra chill and welcoming. 3.) Bushwick has a glut of bars and most are carbon copies of each other. Phil's is a welcome addition to the hood. It's far more grown up than the other establishments around. 4.) Nude Photo hunt. Great drinking game. 5.) Dope snacks.
google avatar

Rae S.

Yelp
Great bar for small groups. The house cocktails are delicious, creative and continuously changing. Further, considering how strong they are, they're usual $10-ish price is really reasonable! I have had a number of things from their menu and everything has been good enough to order again. Their themes/events can be hit and miss, however their food and drinks are consistently on point!
google avatar

Raquel T.

Yelp
Great late night food, drinks, chill vibe, and awesome bartender/ owner Vanessa. All in all welcome to the neighborhood, i'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
I love Phil's so much, it is the epitome of everything you'd want from a local neighborhood bar and the prices are more than ideal. They have tons of fun drink specials all the time including an all night happy hour on Thursdays, a really beautiful interior and outside space for when it's nice out, a tasty menu featuring numerous food pop-ups weekly (from ramen, to grilled cheese, to pancakes, etc.), and a very friendly staff. Everyone needs to check out this spot.
google avatar

M F.

Yelp
I love Phil's, my favorite neighborhood spot. If you've been looking for that bar that feels like home, like your Cheers - Phil's is that bar. On a stretch of street with zero places to get a decent cocktail this is a great place for a cocktail, a hot dog, several irreverent portraits of cats and FOOD, did I mention that there's really really good food? I'm so happy they've kept it going during the pandemic with the boozy lemonade stand and cannot WAIT to get my seat back at the bar when this is all over! But stop by NOW and grab a hot dog and bourbon lemonade!
google avatar

Hope T.

Yelp
Awesome bar. They have darts and a million other games. The owners are super chill and very nice. Excellent customer service. I come here way too often. But the drinks are so inexpensive so.... can you blame me? #ImanalcoholicbecauseofPhils #shutupandtakemymoney

Yelp
This is my lil' friendly neighborhood "go to" spot. The atmosphere is comfy-cozy with a great crowd and the drink selection is very good. One night I had a few too many drinks and left my wallet with money and my credit cards. Once I realized it was gone, I called Phil's and they said it wasn't there but took my info in case it was located. I reluctantly gave my info assuming the worst BUT I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call that evening that my wallet was located. I picked it again, assuming at least my cash was gone BUT all of my money and credit cards were there!!!! I'm a loyal Phil's fan for life. Thanks for the integrity and your great pours but next time I'll make sure I have all of my belongings before I leave for the night:)
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in NYC. The vibe is always chill, the owners and the bartenders are super nice and accommodating. Great date spot because it looks super fancy but it has dive bar prices. The food is top notch and affordable. Free darts, projection TV, backyard in the summer. Love this place.
google avatar

Desiree T.

Yelp
This place is great! I love the atmosphere. Perfect balance between wine bar and dive bar. It's warm and cozy. The lighting and music were great. Who doesn't love jamming along to 90s music on a Saturday night? I grew up in Bushwick listening to those exact songs so I felt right at home. Vanessa was great and made us some yummy, perfectly priced drinks. Try the space juice! My favorite part was their "art". I love their sense of humor.
google avatar

Emmanuel P.

Yelp
Perfect blend of cheap eats as well as selections for the discerning gourmands among us Bushwickers. The meat and cheese boards here rival anything in Williamsburg. The wine list exceeds any dive bar in Bushwick. As a man who loves dive bars but has grown weary of drinking dive bar quality wine, I know I know who goes to dive bars to drink wine?, I leap in delight when I have variety at a walks distance. No longer will we have to settle for twisty top malbecs that taste like they were aged in expired cardboard boxes. Might I also mention the free comedy show on Thursday night rocked. The comics were talented, it was hard for me to stifle my guffaws. Also though seriously, dont be frightened by the word wine. You can still come here and drink beer and straight whiskey in grungy surroundings. The only thing Id fix is maybe the music???
google avatar

Larissa H.

Yelp
Amazing. Their Lavender gin lemonade is incredible, and you can't beat their prices. 10/10 bar.
google avatar

Mick C.

Yelp
This is a place where the owners understand the meaning of a bar. It is a meeting place of wonderful minds and conversation, only to be surpassed by the elegant simplicity of the food (made by Vanessa, one of the owners). I cannot reiterate the value that the owners of this watering hole place on their customers, from song requests to games. ... and I'm Irish.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
I live three blocks away and never realized this gem was here. The drink prices are reasonable, staff friendly, and the food good! They're doing 3 for $10 tacos (pork, sweet potato, shrimp) currently. I had the pork and they're some of the best I've tasted! Cheapest wine is $5. Genny for $4. A bit too loud for me, but I'll definitely be going again!!

Shan M.

Yelp
My favorite neighborhood spot. No contenders! Amazing cocktails and the energy from staff is so warm and welcoming. They really care about safety during this time also.
google avatar

Reed V.

Yelp
yo im wrong now got dragged back in a couple weeks ago and im happy to say they def have shaped up. music way better and the bathroom was cool too. still great prices. will be back
google avatar

Jacques P.

Yelp
Having an awesome time here for a Super Bowl party. Great space, great pub grub and the Narragansett on tap is perfect.
google avatar

Sophie M.

Yelp
My friend and I sidled up to a little floating side table behind the barstools and had some great glasses of wine on the low! They had a full menu of wines, plus a bunch of beers and house cocktails. I had a $3 midnight hot dog on a Tuesday night which is always great. The place was spacious but intimate at the same time. I'll be back.

Joe R.

Yelp
What a great spot! A bartender and a chef who are very personable just opened the place - food is really good (small bites, pretzel nuggets are awesome, free popcorn with different seasonings - I go old bay). Very wide selection of drinks - I love the schlaflys Kolsch but lots of others and wines. Neighborhood spot. Just perfect

Curto26 ..

Yelp
Phil's is the best bar in NYC. The friendliest bartenders. Lauren is a true gem and you can feel her good vibes from down the street. What an amazing experience. I'd come back to New York just for the service.
google avatar

Dom P.

Yelp
What a wonderful new spot in the neighborhood. The food, drink, and staff are great. All the cheese and meat is stunning.
google avatar

Brian E.

Yelp
The very best neighborhood bar. The owners love to pull out the switch and play Mario kart, there's trivia, and they even have a cute backyard for the summers.
google avatar

Colin S.

Yelp
Great relaxed neighborhood bar. Approachable and tasty selection of wine and beer with cheap hotdogs and free popcorn. What else do you need?
google avatar

LaLokita R.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar! Fantastic drinks and wonderful bartenders! Free Comedy every Thursday can't go wrong...

Ciara M.

Yelp
Everything about Phil's is DIVINE. The staff are so nice and friendly, the drinks are yum and the food is phenomenal - honestly can't get over how nice the grilled cheese & tomato soup was. Dare I say; best bar in Brooklyn.
google avatar

Maranda H.

Yelp
Im going to say this, this bar rocks. Vanessa and jeremy are the nicest people. they know you by name they're cool and they make we feel at home. I go there all the time and its always the same vibe. The food and the drinks are yummy. Im excited that this bar is in my neighborhood.

Michelle R.

Yelp
I visited this bar on Saturday, October, 28th with my Man for a Halloween party. This bar is beautiful with it's exposed brick walls, a very neat & clean design, with an industrial flair. A large chandelier brilliantly adorns the back of the bar. The bathroom is sleek, extremely clean, and just as beautiful as the bar. They have a good array and selection of liquor at the bar. (Single barrel whiskeys) The staff is extremely friendly and very customer centric. I will definitely be visiting this spot in the future. Very nice addition to this developing neighborhood. MR
google avatar

Blake B.

Yelp
Highbrow (tungsten bulbs, beautiful space) meets lowbrow (hot dogs and cheap drinks). One of the best new spots in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Carmen L.

Yelp
Phil's has a romantic back patio and Mario Kart and darts and wonderful food (including late night Nathan's hot dogs with specialty mustard) and all kinds of drinks, has great prices and cool staff and FREE COMEDY ON THURSDAYS that you should come waaaatch! I host it so I'm not objective but I was on TV so fuck you just come enjoy yourself. ;-)
google avatar

C B.

Yelp
Finally! A place to drink wine in Bushwick. (They have everything else too). I love the snack menu, which I think is served till pretty late. AND FREE POPCORN?! Hello. The owners are super sweet, which is very refreshing from the cool kid attitude nonsense that still exists in the neighborhood. Even though I live off the Jefferson stop I'll be coming here often :)
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
This bar is as great for groups as it is for a chill solo night out. Everything on the food menu is delicious and well-priced. They've got a great beer shot combo and a constantly changing selection of specialty cocktails. The vibe and general ambiance are great as well. The owners do a great job of accommodating the crowd with their playlists. All around a great joint!!!!
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
Yay for Phil's! I live around the corner and have been watching the progress of their opening for a while. We went last week and had their house Malbec and it was a healthy pour and a lovely wine. We also got the pretzel bites served with their home made beer cheese and they were delicious. Unlike another reviewer, I actually enjoyed the music! There was a great mix of styles, but I would not call it "dorm room stoner music." It's definitely a new type of bar for this end of Bushwick and I'm glad to have a quiet more relaxed space to go than the usual dives. I can't wait to see them succeed!

Matthew P.

Yelp
Great staff and good drinks. Extensive wine list and solid beer options. Very solid necessary neighborhood hang

Lowell C.

Yelp
Nice cozy bar with good drink selection & prices! The bartender (Vanessa) was very nice. Their hot dogs are really good too.

Ocotillo J.

Yelp
I'm so pleased to have a bar in the neighborhood that is friendly and unpretentious, but that offers a variety of wines and an atmosphere that encourages relaxation and conversation, without the insane noise levels of other places nearby. A real gem for grown ups.

Dave B.

Yelp
Just popped into Phil's the other night to check it out and was suitably impressed. Dive bars are fun but their wine selection is usually bad. Wine bars aren't as fun to hang out in. Phil's is right in the middle. It might be my platonic ideal of a drinking establishment. They have a $5 beer and shot special, and the house red is absolutely delicious. My friend and I split the charcuterie platter and were blown away by how good it was. And if that wasn't enough to sell you on it - the staff was friendly and the music selection was great. Will definitely be coming back here again.

Marc C.

Yelp
I live for Phil's! It's literally the best neighborhood bar in Bushwick. Cheap prices and great bartenders are key. They match that in spades. Vanessa is a wonderful bartender and I was so impressed by how many customers she could handle at once. She even made snacks for people! Their wine and beer selection are extensive. You have great choices here. There are also great weekday specials, Wednesday's for example give you 20 dollar wine bottle specials. I especially love their back yard patio. I will definitely be back for their industry brunch. Come here. Do it!

Marissa S.

Yelp
What a wine bar!! It may seem out of place but it is a place we can go and feel at home. The owners are the nicest people and the selection of booze (not just wine) is great. Did I mention the food?!?? Home made apps/ cheese plates that go very well with all that you would drink at a bar. Great, inexpensive neighborhood place
