"The eponymous dish is served with sliced rare steak, brisket, beef flank, tendon, and tripe, and it is exceptional. Don’t skip Phở 2000’s seafood menu, though — especially the whole fried striped bass, which is served with a spicy, sweet, and sour sauce." - Terrence Doyle

"There’s a crepe at Pho 2000 that’s fried and stuffed with pork and shrimp. It’s so good that we suggested to our server that the restaurant change its name to Crepe 2000, at which point she told us to shut up and stay in our lane. Regardless, this is a great small and super casual spot in Fields Corner, and it should be in your regular Dorchester Vietnamese food rotation." - Dan Secatore

"Is Field’s Corner the pho capital of the Western Hemisphere? Seeing as that’s an impossible question to answer and no one can call us out on it, we’re going to say that it absolutely, definitely is. Pho 2000 is a casual little cafeteria of a restaurant on Adams Street where the pho is light enough to be called refreshing. Don’t feel like you need to stick to the noodle soup, though - our favorite thing on the menu is actually the banh xeo, a fried crepe stuffed with shrimp and pork." - dan secatore

Good place to have a meal in Dorchester 👍🏻 They do have vegetarian options

Visited the restaurant for its 7-courses of beef. In late evening of a workday, the place was not crowded and had tables available right away, no need for reservation in advance. As we knew what to order prior to arrival, we placed order immediately, and got it served very quick. We got our hands pretty busy to cook the beef and wrap with rice paper, together with rice-noodles, veggies. The combination of beef, rice-noodles, and veggies wrapped in rice-paper, then dipped in special fish-sauce just gives a kick to palates.

Google
The menu is a bit cheaper than other Vietnamese Pho restaurants. Bun bo Hue is tasty and only $10.95. I love it. The reason for 4 stars because the egg rolls were not fresh and turning bad (smell, almost Stale). Recommended to try Bun bo Hue

We had a party of 8 adults and 1 child. We ordered 2 catfish 1 pho 2 sodas 1 limeade and 1 che ba Mau. The bill came to $200. I don't know how much the cost of each catfish was because my son treated all of us. The cat fish was nicely deep fried. We would take pieces of the meat wrap it in rice paper with noodles and vegetables (like making spring rolls) and then dip it in their dipping sauce. It was delicious! Their pho was ok.

Google
Really hurts to write this for a small business, but honestly the food was not fresh and the pho broth quality was a bit on the funky side. Paid my check and left wishing I stayed loyal to pho le. What I got: 1. Beef salad - old lettuce was used, flies were literally nesting above it after it’s delivery. Beef used was old and definitely had that left in fridge uncovered smell. I left it untouched. 2. The pho broth was grayish lacking that glistening light color and taste was overly salty… what I couldn’t forgive was the noodles… come on… chewy and WAY overcooked. Service was fast and worker was pleasant.

Google
My very most favorite Pho restaurant in the world. I stop here every Sunday when I come to town. Food is super reasonably priced, and delicious!! The staff is so friendly and they always show the Patriots games!!!

Google
The famous fried catfish is as delicious as always. But to serve for 3 people, I'd say the portion for vegetables, rice papers and the sauce are not enough. We had to order extra of those. But I think maybe it's the standard version and if you order more if it's not enough.

Briana

Google
The BEST spot for grilled catfish. They’ve got the crispy on the catfish right. I haven’t gotten to dine in the restaurant yet as I’ve always gotten takeout instead.

Yelp
Pho 2000 is a humble no frills establishment that is a IYKYK type of feel. The catfish was fantastic here and is an absolute must try. They fry it and then grill it to give it a nice smoky flavor. Also it is HUGE and best shared. Everything else we tried was also great, but the catfish was the stand out. All the food comes out super quickly and filled up our entire table. It was a unique and delightfully delicious dinner we had here and I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Super duper delicious food. Restaurant had family atmosphere, everyone was very friendly and nice. We have Beef 7 Ways and it was beyond yummy! Will definitely come back!

Danielle L.

Yelp
Food 4/5 - The 7 Courses of Beef was delicious although we didn't know exactly how to eat the dishes. Loved how each dish was different in flavor profile and texture. There was an abundance of rice paper, mint, basil, lettuce, daikon, noodles and even apples to make your own spring rolls. 1st course - Raw beef you cook yourself in vinegar hot broth. 2nd course - Raw beef you cook in a wok full of butter. 3rd course - Lightly marinated raw beef with lime juice. You are supposed to eat this as is but we didn't know and put it in the wok. 4-6th courses - A variety of beef skewers and meatball. The meatball tasted very good with the cracker. 7th course - Beef congee which was so delicious and silky. We also got the Bun Rieu and Hu Tieu (#19 is with seafood and #20 is meat). The soups were on the lighter end so I wish they tasted stronger. The broth to noodles ratio was also disproportionate. Service 5/5 - If you frequent authentic Vietnamese or other Asian restaurants, you know there is a lack of service. The restaurant is family owned and they were so friendly and patient as we came closer to closing time and they didn't rush us at all. They also came to check on us multiple times to ensure everything was good. Overall, I will definitely visit again and try their other popular dishes like the Fried Catfish. There is also free parking on the other side of the street.

Yelp
Pho 2000 is the place to go if you're looking for some SPECTACULAR grilled catfish! OMG... so good. It was my first time a few months ago trying grilled catfish! I will admit, I was already a fan of catfish but this experience definitely made my love for catfish grow even more haha. Plenty of parking available nearby & staff is kind. They accommodate large parties, which is a plus.

Alyanna T.

Yelp
My partner and I got the extra large pho 2000 and bun tom chit cha gio - TASTE: 4/5 - the pho 2000 hit the spot w bites of the broth, brisket, and tripe. The bun tom chit cha gio's grilled pork and fried spring roll were tasty. Didn't know the catfish was popular here, would come back to try! TEXTURE: 4/5 - highlights included the classic rice vermicelli, grilled shrimp, and and crunchy, roasted peanuts. Some of the herbs didn't look super fresh though PRICE: 4/5 - total came out to only $30 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - filled us up for an early dinner and didn't have leftovers to take home SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 4:30pm on a Sunday and we had the place to ourselves. Our waiter was quick and efficient ATMOSPHERE: 3/5 - simple setup w mirrored walls PARKING: 5/5 - got a free street spot right on Adams St, but there is free parking in the municipal parking lot across the street too

Yelp
I went here recently and ordered the "Pho 2000" and Vietnamese iced coffee. It really hit the spot. Just as good as I remembered it when I went here a long time ago. I've had their fried catfish in the past and really enjoyed that as well. It's a no frills type of place, just here for good food.

Brendan P.

Yelp
Just wow.. I'm a sucker for authentic Viet and Pho2000 did not disappoint. I had a cheat code as I was with a Vietnamese friend who ordered everything but the food was amazing. Ordered a few different types of fresh rolls, drunken noodles (best I've ever had), Pho, and their version of egg rolls with a variety of sauces. Incredibly fresh and flavorful. Finished it off with a viet coffee. Even though the server didn't speak English, it was a great experience. Will be back next time I'm headed through the area!

Andy N.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place after reading such raving reviews. However I was severely disappointed. The spring rolls were alright. But as for the main entree, the pho lacked quantity of noodles, veggies, and meat. The ratio of broth to substance was very disproportionate. The broth was alright. As for the flavor, it was subpar

Hanh P.

Yelp
Anyone had a whole grilled catfish before? I get this every time I'm back in Boston area. The catfish serves about 4 adults. I highly recommend calling and request about a couple of hours in advanced. They're priced by pounds and market price so make sure you ask how much it'll be before you buy. Ours was $~50. You take apart the crispy fish and roll your own spring rolls. The mam sauce is delish as well-savory, spicy, and pineapple-y. We also got bánh beo (steamed rice cakes with mung bean served with fish sauce, bean sprouts and mint). Both the banh beo and cat fish hit the spot. Just know that the service isn't A-grade so I definitely came here just for the food. Google reviews doesn't do it justice. The locals know what's up, just get this catfish if you're there! This place a casual joint that both families and solo diners can enjoy.

Katie L.

Yelp
Service was very slow. Staff were friendly. Limited parking but street parking is available. Pho and bun bo were mediocre. I had bun bo and it didn't have the bun bo aroma at all. Goi cuon tasted weird. They included some grilled pork in it.

Ana L.

Yelp
If you're Vietnamese, your family probably most likely had Ca Nuong for a special occasion or family dinner. I am not a fan of any of their other dishes but I remain a loyal customer for their fried catfish(ca nuong). My family also like their 7 course beef but I am loyal to strictly the catfish.

Lila P.

Yelp
Came here for the baked fish and only for the baked fish. Make sure to call in advice because it takes about 45 minutes to cook. Crispy and the seasoning seeps though. Roll it up with fresh veggies and you have a perfect bite.

Yelp
First off, I love little hole in the wall type restaurants. I've eaten Vietnamese in a number of cities around the US and this was bottom tier. Dirty and cramped Vietnamese joints often yield some of the tastiest food, so I was expecting good things from Pho 2000 when I walked to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of the kitchen. Nope, not at all. I hate leaving bad reviews for small businesses but sometimes it's merited. The food took 20+ minutes to arrive at our table, which is atypical for Vietnamese places. I also ordered a drink which came out 15 minutes after the food. The vegetables all had brown edges, as though they'd been cut a day or two beforehand. They floated on top of the broth and were clearly not cooked into the dish. There were canned pineapples in the soup which had no life in them at all. They were straight up gray. Each bite of the dish had me questioning whether or not I should keep going. Funky, just plain funky.

Luca C.

Yelp
Nice portions, cool interior, and nice guys working there. I really enjoyed the vermicelli with grilled pork and spring roll. The summer rolls with peanut sauce and wings were great appetizers, and the pho 2000 with rare steak was fresh and well seasoned broth. I DO wish they included some sauce for the pho (sriracha or other) when ordering to go, because it definitely benefited from some. Definitely will be back

Anh N.

Yelp
This is our go-to spot for fried catfish. We ordered a portion for 3 people. The fish was very crispy, the sauce was flavorful and veggies were fresh. However, I think the portion for veggies and rice paper were not enough for 3 people, we had to order extra. I like that they have free parking lot across the street.

Abby H.

Yelp
Came here in a group of 6 for a weekday dinner. We called ahead to let them know we were coming. We ordered 2 of these appetizers of Bánh bèo, and they're so good. You also pour some of their sauce onto it, and it's perfect. After that, the highlight of the dinner arrived - the grilled catfish! One of my friends, who is more skilled in cutting up the fish and removing the bones, did most of the hard work. The best part is making your spring rolls. Dip the wrapper into the water, add the veggies and catfish, and then wrap it up tight. And then dip into the sauce, and mmmm a bite so delicious and very well balanced! It's also a great location with a parking lot nearby and close to the train station. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Vanessa H.

Yelp
Came here with my friends and got the seven course beef which is basically 7 different meat dishes. Two of them you cook yourself by dipping the meat in heated vinegar or butter for a few seconds. The dishes come with vegetables (cucumbers, mint, lettuce, bean sprouts...), vermicelli noodles and rice paper to make the meat wraps. All of them were good!! but my favorites were the tartar salad, the butter chicken and the congee! It's definitely a family run restaurant. Not very fancy but the food is great! Would definitely recommend!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Called about 20 mins before arrival to let them know a table of 2 was coming and to ordered the fried catfish - as soon as I arrived everything was set up and ready. 10/10 highly recommend!! Probably the best I've ever had. I've never had fried catfish with apples and it is truly a game changer.

My-Linh D.

Yelp
It was paaacked when we went on a Saturday night but it was worth the wait. They do not do reservations nor take your name down. You will need to wait outside with your full party. I went during the Saigon Night Market so that makes sense why it was busy. We waited for roughly 30 minutes to get our table. The staff were very kind and apologetic for the long wait. Although the food also took a while to get to us, everything was flavorful. The chicken looked plain but it was tender and juicy. The fried rolls were also delicious especially with the fish sauce. The pho is the highlight of the meal with the broth being so light but aromatic and savory. I would come back here again!

Michele M.

Yelp
When we first arrived at 6:30pm, the restaurant wasn't that busy. However, the restaurant quickly filled up around 7/7:30. This is a family run business and I highly recommend supporting them. The food was amazing and the service was very fast. I recommend getting the 7 course beef or the fish! There was plenty of hand sanitizer around and the workers were wearing masks. The tables were fairly distanced so I was comfortable while dining.

Eddie C.

Yelp
If you love pho as much as I do then consider checking this place out. It was a last minute stop and I'm glad we did. The wife and I both got pho and fresh shrimp spring rolls. We were not dissapointed

Athena K.

Yelp
Food is crazy good. Fresh rolls on point, Bun Vermicelli was excellent and even their Thai fried rice was superb. When everyone who's eating at the restaurant is Vietnamese, you know it's going to be pretty good.

L T.

Yelp
Don't expect great service (different cultures) but expect good food. You must experience the grilled cat fish (perfect for 2-3 adults depending on the size of the fish). Its delicious. I also love the desert/che, especially the "che 3 mau/color". The "che sam bo luong" is good as well. If you love spring rolls and egg rolls, you should also try the "goi cuon nem nuong", which is a spring roll with the inside filled with grilled pork patty, veggies, and a strip of crunchy deep fried rice wrap. It comes with a very flavorful sauce.

Cassandra W.

Yelp
It was the first time I've ever had grilled catfish and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it! My Viet friends in Boston say this restaurant is the best for it. I def believe it!

Edward W.

Yelp
We waited in line for 30 minutes, but there was a festival nearby so the area was just busier than usual. The food is really good! Bun bo hue had good spice and flavor and their pho 2000 was yummy too.

Briana L.

Yelp
The BEST spot for grilled catfish. They've got the crispy on the catfish just right and the shrimp paste sauce they have goes along with it really well. I haven't gotten to dine in the restaurant yet as I've always gotten takeout instead, but I'm definitely going to try them dining in for 7 course beef!

Christine W.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I came here for dinner with a couple friends to try their fried catfish (you need to call a day in advance to reserve the catfish) and it seems like this restaurant specializes in the catfish dish because every table had one to share. The catfish dish is a whole catfish that is fried so it's nice and crispy. It's paired with rice paper, fresh vegetables (mint, basil, bean sprouts, apples, carrots, lettuce and more), and a sauce so you can make your own spring rolls. The catfish itself was cooked so well. It was juicy and light for something that looks deep fried. The vegetables were also really fresh and they were very generous with the vegetable portions they gave.

Louis C.

Yelp
Had a really good experience getting takeout for their Fried Catfish. Called it in on a Saturday Night and they weren't that busy. Fish was still very good, even though it was in the car for 25 minutes.

Qme L.

Yelp
You know the food is gonna be good when there's an old gumball machine sitting in the corner of the restaurant that probably hasn't been refilled since 2005. I ordered the regular size pho tai which I didn't see listed on the menu but I was able to get it. I was a little disappointed with the paucity of beansprouts I was given but the pho made up for it. Broth was delicious, not overly salty and you can taste the depth of flavors. Rare steak was tender and thinly sliced. Bowl doesn't look massive but they are generous with the amount of meat, so it ends up being very filling. I also ordered the goi cuon, which was freshly wrapped. Peanut sauce was expected, they do use more hoisin sauce in it than other places I've been to. Overall a good lunch spot. Service was quick and efficient, no frills. I'll definitely be back especially with the cold weather coming..

Joe W.

Yelp
We ordered the regular pho and the shrimp & spring roll vermicelli. Both were delicious, best we've had in a while. Would come back and try the fried catfish.

Bonnie M.

Yelp
While the atmosphere is very Spartan, the food was delicious. My husband and I both had pho. They did a vegetarian option for me which was loaded with vegetables and delicious. For dessert we tried the Che ba mau, a dessert of green jelly and red bean with peanut and shaved ice. I loved it and had never eaten anything like it - plenty for two. Would love to return with friends to try the fried catfish - they had a 3 pound minimum order for that. It looked delicious sailing past our table!

Connie C.

Yelp
Suggest calling if you want the whole catfish. Great place for a weekend brunch if you want to beat the crowds. Finally tried the fried catfish but tasted kind of dry to me. You can call ahead for them to cook so you don't have to wait when you get there. If you like catfish and don't want to make the rolls, consider the caramelIzed catfish for amazing sauce. My friends also like the vietnamese coffee. This place feels very family-owned, So give them patience when they prepare food.

Becky R.

Yelp
Customer service absolutely sucks. Goodluck ordering and getting what you ordered in a timely manner. I love their fried (baked) cat fish. But the thing is no matter how many times I ask for extra sauce extra noodles extra this or order something OTHER than what they're famous for, I never get it. My friends never get what they order. I always have to repeat it and chase down the owner who decided that he will run it by himself which I understand. Covid. I get it. My work place is suffering from short staffed as well. But what really set me off was the fact that they stopped us as we stood up and flatly said "you paid but didn't tip yet" I will never come back. I'll come back when I hear they hired more people and the next time they bring up the tip again I'll be making a scene. I'm so sick of their customer service. For anyone sick of it too, pho Le also makes good fried (baked) cat fish. Also in the area and wayyyyy friendlier service. It's where I go to now. F*** pho 2000.

Barbara K.

Yelp
If you are looking for a family authentic meal then this is the place to be. Very good price for good portion and the food is very authentic

Alicia M.

Yelp
I got pho beef brisket with a spring roll yummy . Nice quiet place. Good customer service great food.

Freddie S.

Yelp
Average food, waiter got my order wrong and was abnormally slow for being the only customers present. Was 2 stars at first but changed to 1 as I was writing this. Nothing special wouldn't recommend this small joint if you want a satisfying meal.

Bambiandfriends M.

Yelp
We read the great reviews on Yelp about this place and sadly, we're completely disappointed. We arrived at 8:50pm on a Tuesday evening. We checked their hours and since Google Maps says they're open until 10pm, we thought that we'd have plenty of time to order and dine. As soon as we walked in, there was no one to seat us nor acknowledge us at all. We were confused and waved hello to the lady at the bar preparing a drink for another table of guests. The lady looked at us, frowned, and muttered something that we couldn't understand. I looked at my watch and asked her, "are you closed now?" And she just frowned at me and shook her head without saying anything. We walked out mystified and frustrated. Do not go here. The restaurant looked dirty and clearly do not care about their customers. Hard Pass.

Marni M.

Yelp
First time coming with two family members. We had called ahead so they could fry the catfish ahead of time which was ready by the time we got there (about 15 min prior). It was incredibly crispy and flavorful. All ingredients were served fresh and with the desired temperatures. I liked the fish sauce offered and had to try their bun bo hue. The broth was good but not the best I've had. I did really enjoy their versions of fish cakes though. Overall, great experience and will come back again!

Amy C.

Yelp
Best place for 7 course beef !! We usually opt for just the butter beef for all 7 courses because it's our favorite. They have parking right across the street.

Li S.

Yelp
I've never had such horrible Vietnamese takeout and I'm convinced they knowingly gave us scrap/crap food. One of the top worst meals I've gotten that makes me fume thinking about it! -dish normally comes with glass noodles and we got pho noodles instead -nam spring rolls had some other type of old tasting meat in it other than the nam you typically get. The dipping sauce had no flavor and not the typical hoisin/peanut sauce it usually comes with. -noodle soup did had a piece of plastic in it.. I think it's from the imitation crab meat

Kathleen A.

Yelp
One of the best bowl of pho I've had in awhile. Def worth the trip to get a bowl of pho! Will come back again!

Rich W.

Yelp
I hands down agree with the previous gentleman . The pho broth here is pretty damn good . The catfish is something you can't find any where. I would definitely recommend.

VisitNubianSq ..

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and they still haven't gotten their act together. I can't order over the phone because they get the order wrong and I can't order in the restaurant because they get the order wrong. I love the authentic food, the pho is especially good however this is the of an era. They don't deliver, the space hasn't changed its decor and is in need of a serious modern makeover as well as anew HVAC system. What a shame for an authentic community restaurant. Do better....

Bobby B.

Yelp
Quality Vietnamese soups for the value! I had the spicy beef noodle soup, which had the right amount of kick to it. I was not impressed by the too few beef slices, but other than that I would recommend.

Amanda L.

Yelp
My family and I drove from NY specifically for authentic viet food and this is the spot for sure. It's a older place with its own charm :) we got the 7 course beef (highly highly recommend), the bun xeo, cat fish and bun beo. the owners are hard working and dedicated to serving delicious food! i would definitely do the drive to come back here again

Sarish B.

Yelp
Surprisingly, it was a busy day at Pho 2000. There were a few families enjoying a nice Sunday dinner together. Although we did not make reservations beforehand, we were seated within minutes of arrival. The chicken wings were just okay, nothing spectacular. While the pho was well worth the wait. Perfect soupfor a rainy day in Boston!

Alan C.

Yelp
I cannot comment on the fried catfish or 7 course beef that other yelpers swear by...in retrospect, I should have went with foods recommended. Instead, I made the mistake of ordering the typical beef pho. I mean, the place is called Pho 2000 so the expectation is that their pho would be pretty good right?? WRONG!! Worst pho soup base I ever tasted. You know why? TOO much star anise! Overwhelmed the soup taste. The noodles and other ingredients were fine BUT the defining characteristic of any good pho is their soup base and Pho 2000 failed. The biggest tip off is that the viet locals that were already eating there, were only ordering the fried catfish and 7 course beef. None of the locals eating at that time ordered any pho at all which should have been a signal. The final nail in the coffin is the overcharge on our bill. Either Pho 2000 didn't update their menu or they are adding ~$1 - 0.50 on everything just because. Please see attached photo. Its very dishonest if business menu prices don't reflect what they charge consumers. They added $ to every noodle we ordered. We had the #19 (menu said $8.50 but charged $9.50), #26 (menu says $8.95 but charged $9.50), #23 Xlarge (menu says $9.50 but was charged $10.50). Consumers beware is all I can say.

Robert C.

Yelp
This heavy on MSG meal was a bit of a surprise to me. Not the MSG but the fact that they discriminated against me because I was "American". I ordered their number 46 which was a hot pot rice dish that included frogs legs. When I got the dish there weren't any in there. When I raised the issue with the guy who took my order he said that Americans don't eat frogs legs and they substituted with more chicken. It did not look like more chicken to me. Then the gentleman went back into the kitchen and returned to me and said we will put in frogs legs now and, by the way, the cook added more shrimp to make up for the difference. But, I did not see many shrimp in that bowl either. Let us just say my days of going to pho 2000 are over. It was my first and my last time there. Now I need to take care of my MSG headache and dry mouth.

Chau L.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner with some closed friends. My friends had told me about their fish spring rolls and it was the best, so of course I had to go and check it out. When our fish came out, it was not what I had expected. It was a giant fried cat fish. It was seasoned very well and the skin was very crunchy. It came with spring roll wrappers, a plate of noodles, a fermented fish dipping sauce and a plate of veggies. Basically it's a roll your own fish spring rolls. Fun and easy experienced. Overall experience, friendly and quick service. Fair priced. Would definitely come back to try out the rest of the menu.
