This used to be my favorite 24hr spot to eat pho. I am appalled and disappointed this visit.
Honestly, ever since Covid happened this place really went down. I'm not sure if the owners changed, but the service was absolutely nonexistent, half of the menu was missing, and unlike their name Pho 24 they are no longer open 24 hours. This made me really upset because Pho 24 is a Restaurant I grew up eating with my family. It was a 24 hour restaurant I took my friends from out of town to eat at 3am. It was a Vietnamese restaurant that I could go to, and be proud of the amazing culture and food that came with it.
I normally take pictures of my food, but this experience was so bad I could not bring myself to
take any.
First of all what authentic Vietnamese restaurant does not have Bo Ko? Bo Ko is a warm rich beef stew, I got constantly before here. That no longer exist along with a few other Vietnamese dishes. They don't even serve the fresh fruit smoothies, or che. However, I saw on the menu they still had smoothies , I guess they just didn't want to make me one. The servers don't even know anything about the food you literally just point what letter and number you want to eat.
Second, I ended up just getting a basic pho with meatballs. The broth tasted like they bought store-bought beef broth and added a crap load of black pepper. There was basically no for flavor. It was store-bought boxed broth with pepper. To make matters worse, my table did not have Hoison sauce, when I asked for it, she said she did not have any, which is weird, considering it's a staple in Vietnamese food. They also do not have chili oil and gave me some generic Sriracha. I couldn't even try to make the flavor of the broth better.
Lastly, The service was utterly terrible. Our server probably came to us maybe two times, and the rest was the bus boys bringing our food. Like I said, the server I got, did not know the menu and when I tried to order certain things she said they didn't have it but it was clearly on the menu. I don't know if they really don't sell that anymore or they just don't wanna make it for me, I just ended up getting a plain pho with meatballs.
The smell of the restaurant if you sat too close to the bathroom, it smelled like poop. I could not even use the restroom, it smelled so bad. I went in there just to wash my hands, and I even tried to close the restroom door. Because the surrounding area near the bathroom, you could literally smell the stench of poop. This I feel is a very easy fix. It's just odor issues, everything else needs major work on.
