The food here is so delicious, and the staff are sweet and friendly! The interior is decorated simply and casually, and the menu is very expansive, with a diverse selection of Vietnamese staples— from pho to banh mis to bun bo hue. My 3 friends and I came on a Friday night and it wasn’t busy. We ordered 5 dishes to split amongst us all:
- Pho Tai: I’d say this is probably among the best pho I’ve had thus far in Chicago; the broth is just so flavorful, savory, and aromatic, and the noodles are cooked to the perfect texture.
- Banh Mi with Grilled Pork: Would totally recommend the banh mis here; the bread is warm, flaky, and delicious with the perfect amount of sauce and veggies. The grilled pork is a classic, and the meat is nicely cooked and full of flavor.
- Banh Mi with Shredded Pork Skins: The pork skin provided great textures and unique flavors; another awesome choice of banh mi to order.
- Bun Bo Hue: I personally liked the pho better, but this broth is spicy and flavorful, and the meats and other ingredients add to the overall heartiness of this classic dish.
- Banh hoi tom thit nuong with pork (fine vermicelli mats with BBQ shrimp and pork): These build your own spring rolls are consistently among my favorite Vietnamese dishes. The BBQ shrimp and pork here are grilled wonderfully, and the fresh veggies and rice noodles create a light, fresh, balanced flavor. There was a little too much rice noodle and not enough meat for the rolls though, so we had a quite a bit of rice noodles left at the end. But they were delicious when soaked in the nuoc cham sauce.
The total with tip came out to $23 per person, which isn’t bad, considering we ordered a lot of food and were all very full and satisfied afterwards. The prices are pretty standard relative to other restaurants in Argyle.
