Boston Restaurant Closings, Winter 2022 | Eater Boston

"A long-running Fields Corner Vietnamese restaurant that shuttered at the end of December amid a landlord–tenant dispute. Operated for more than 20 years with Dino and Victoria Nguyen leading the last six, the restaurant was known for classics like bun rieu, steamed whole sea bass with ginger and scallions, rare beef in lime juice salad, and bò 7 món, a seven-course beef combo meant for two; the owners indicated hopes of reopening elsewhere near Fields Corner." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

I didn’t expect to have the best spring rolls I’ve ever had here, so crispy, flavorful, and unlike any I’ve tried before (and I’ve been eating them my whole life). I also had the grilled beef and rice platter, which was solid and also came with soup on the side which isn’t done at many places anymore. I also grabbed some BBH to go, and the flavor and spicy level was really delicious. Great staff and service also! I’ll definitely be back.

My first experience with this restaurant. The staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed getting a pot of tea when I sat down and went over the menu. I asked for added ingredients in my Pho and it did not present a problem. The Pho was excellent! My only complaint, I ordered summer rolls to go. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the peanut sauce. It tasted more like gravy instead of peanuts. I would definitely go back though.

My friends and I really enjoyed this place. I got the Pho Ga which was awesome. Be warned, the chili oil is authentic and no joke. I’m used to flavorless chili oil so I added to scoops and realized quickly I only needed 1, or even half of one. Luckily the limes were there to tone down the spiciness. Service was quick. The atmosphere was quaint and really cute. There is 2 hour meter parking out front, otherwise parking can get a little tricky if you’re not familiar with the area. This was my first time having Pho and it was a really great experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Decent pho for a decent price in a strange location. Can’t complain. Though the pho did take a little while to come out of the kitchen unlike most viet places I’ve been where it’s out in 15-30 seconds 😂 also they pre-included gratuity in our check which was odd. Fried spring rolls were yummy.

Disappointing experience. They are skimming and expedient about their food. I ordered #2, spring rolls and while they came out hot and newly fried I was surprised to bite into a log of meat. They clearly mash the ingredients together and create meat logs, roll them in paper and fry. Whatever was in it didn’t taste fresh. I’ve been to Vietnam and have eaten in Vietnamese restaurants all over the U.S. This is the first time I’ve bitten into a log of formed meat and it wasn’t pleasant. Then the barbecue pork vermicelli bowl came out. Underneath is a mound of shredded iceberg lettuce and bean sprouts, which makes the bowl look full but there’s actually very little meat and noodles. It’s deceptive plating practices meant to deceive because the bowl looks full. In every other restaurant the lettuce, cucumber, carrots, and bean sprouts are on top, set off to the side of the bowl. Here they use them to make the serving appear to be worth the full and worth the $16.95 they charge. It’s not. The dish was bland and didn’t come with carrots. They have too many obvious cost cutting techniques. The food wasn’t particularly good. I won’t return.

I love this place. Warm, friendly family, always helpful and patient as I like to get settled in lol. Dining in or taking out my food quality is the same. You receive complimentary Tea while dining in. When I order over the phone they’re very helpful while trying to explain what I want. Rice Noodle w/ shrimp is my favorite. The shrimp are never over cooked they are always peeled, deveined and fresh.
