The Best Restaurants in Sacramento’s Little Saigon Neighborhood | Eater SF

"There’s really no need for a menu at Pho Anh Dao: Just get the pho ga (chicken pho) – either with white meat, dark or a combo. There is sometimes a wait for seating in the mornings, and occasionally the chicken pho runs out and they close early. The lovely, clear broth, swimming with scallion and woody cilantro, can be further brightened with a squeeze of lime, but no other flavoring is warranted. It is perfect, and perfectly nourishing. Cash only." - Becky Grunewald

Words cant begin to describe how good this place is the sea food sauce is the best Ive ever tasted. I get the crazy mix sauce which isn't listed as an option when you order online but I add a note at the bottom of my order and then call the restaurant just to make sure and it never fails I always get exactly what I ordered and the quality is always consistent 100/10 I highly recommend. The sauce is drinkable its not to salty but its still so flavorful I have to say this is the best sea food place Ive ever been to so far. The prices are amazing and super affordable and you get a quality amount of food for your moneys worth. The workers are also amazing and the service makes this restaurant even more enjoyable. It's a must try. I also have heard the Pho is great as well and I cant wait to try it.

Google
This is the best PHO on the Island. It really hits the spot on a cold day. The servers were friendly and accommodating even though we arrived close to closing time. Checked back with us to make sure all was well and really made it a very pleasant eating experience.

Google
Good food for a late night meal excellent food and servings were great . This restaurant also serves Cajun seafood

Edison Huang

Google
Solid 4 because the prices are very reasonable. The iced coffee wasn't good so I'd skip that..they are also a Cajun boil restaurant which was very surprising to us.

Being out of town, I choose this restaurant due to the great Google reviews, however I’m highly disappointed! Ordered pork rice. Pork taste like rubber band with no flavor, rice was dried and old. It’s a shame that such big city can offer such terrible food. After I sorted through the food and had two bite. I stopped eating and went to sleep hungry . I’m from a town with not a lot of Asian food, but I promise, I can randomly select any Vietnamese restaurant and the food would be 100% better - and half the price!

Google
Pho Ga to go ended up being basic chicken broth with a clump of sticky noodles. Ordered an XL with vegetables. It was a L and was missing vegetables. The bag of bean sprouts lime and basil was NOT fresh. Womp womp.

Google
Stopped on a Wednesday, around 4:30pm. Was not busy. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere. The waitress was very polite and attentive. I ordered an extra large Pho Ga and shrimp spring rolls. They brought my order out in less than 5 minutes, and it was huge. Broth/Pho was excellent! The Spring Rolls were very fresh and the lettuce wraps were very crisp, flavor was excellent! Peanut sauce was perfect as well. I will definitely visit again if in the area! $14 (before tax and tip) for a bowl of Pho that large and two excellent Spring Rolls was a great price as well!

I've been to other locations of this pho restaurant, but this one in Alameda has the best customer service. As soon as my friend and I came in, the staff approached us right away and led us to the table of our choice. Service is fast as well.

Yelp
My partner and I picked up some small beef pho with extra meat from Pho Anh Dao on an extremely rainy day. We were immediately greeted at the door and was led to a table/seat. However, we only wanted some food to go so we ordered by the counter instead. While waiting, we got to serve the space, which apparently was split between pho Anh dao and a crawfish boil restaurant. The menus themselves are split between the two-- pho Anh dao's menu on one side and the Cajun restaurant's menu on the flip side. Our order came out in about 10 minutes, so quick and efficient! It took us 10 more minutes to drive home and the pho was still piping HOT by that time: everything was packed beautifully and snugly. I had ordered extra meat for my pho as well, and it was definitely worth it. They add a considerable amount of extra meat for $4! The pho itself had a deep, delicious, complex broth. Springy and chewy noodles, and the veggies included were fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my pho and I'll be sure to come back again.

Yelp
My daughter's favorite Cajun restaurant Bucket of Crawfish is also owned by this family. Quality/Quantity - Today we supported the Cajun side and got the following: Cajun Wings - 10 pieces. Love me some deep fried wings! Glad we got the larger order. I think I ate most of the wings. Fried perfectly and each wing was of good size. Combo #1 - Crawfish, mussels, and shrimp (head off for $2 extra) with mild Cajun sauce. We also added 1 extra corn. Garlic Noodles - Regular size. How can you NOT like butter and garlic! We should have ordered a large...? But actually it was more than enough. Crawfish Fried Rice - This was actually better than expected and of generous size. Atmosphere - This was a brother/sister shared location. But now it seems like it is one business...? The sister owns the Bucket of Crawfish and the brother owns Pho Anh Dao. But today they seated all of us on the Pho side. Fairly large space. Still very few customers here even for a Saturday when we visit, so good for us. In the past, it was hard to find parking, but it is not a problem now. Plenty of street parking and I think they share a private lot with the motel next door...? Open 6 days a week, from noon until 9pm; closed Mondays. Service - Good/excellent; 5 stars as usual. We also like supporting the locals and family run businesses. We have supported this business since the "shooting." Optional bibs. This is a finger food type restaurant. Price - $99 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2014 at this location and since 2010 in Utah.

Yelp
Was initially a bit skeptical coming here because it felt weird that the pho placed shared a space with the Bucket o Crawfish, but they probably have the best pho on the island. The food came out fast and piping hot. Prices were very reasonable and portions are generous. Servers are always very nice and helpful. This is our new go to pho spot on the island! We also love the option of getting fries with our pho.

Missus D.

Yelp
Our go to pho spot. They are fast, friendly, and affordable. I don't like it when a certain waitress works there though because she does NOT know how to make the Vietnamese iced coffee properly. She's nice and all, I just don't order the coffee when she's there, which is a bummer because I rarely get to drink that type of coffee.

Keith P.

Yelp
Just tried out this spot today. I ordered the #9 Pho Large size. They also have XL if you have a bigger appetite. I would say the broth is is pretty good. It arrived fresh n hot. Service was very good n I felt welcomed the minute I walked in. There's plenty of parking in the back so thats a big plus for me. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for some good pho!

A A.

Yelp
Pho has a big portion. Appetizers egg rolls are cheap ($5.50) compared to Tri-valley area($9.50 or more). One more thing, they have chili oil!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go and have some soup whenever I'm having a day off because it's nearby... My 5 stars mostly go to their customer service!!! Those servers are so sweet and always welcoming. I love their spring rolls with a side of peanut butter but i just wish they could make the rolls little bit richer... I had the beef stew with egg noodles this time and it was so good! Pictures below lol It's a good spot for rainy days for friends and family.

Yelp
Place is huge and has plenty of seats and easy parking. Food was good and price was decent. Nothing too crazy. Simple and nice place.
google avatar

Jeanie N.

Yelp
GREAT bowl of pho that hit the spot. The soup is light yet deep in flavor. Whenever I want a bowl of pho, I'll definitely be thinking of this place. I also appreciated how the bean sprouts were obviously washed Nice and straightforward service. Good amount of indoor seating and plenty of free street parking as this is a tiny bit off the main Webster street section

Yelp
To put it quite simply, Pho Anh Dao is a nice spot for a solid bowl of pho; a nice bowl of warm comfort with no nonsense, just substance. I have been here on multiple occasions for a casual outing with friends/family for Vietnamese food. A few things I really like about this place is the ease of parking, the friendly service, and the availability of seating due to it's large dining area. Everything here is served at a nice affordable price and is just solid overall. It's not pho I would go far out of my way for but when the pho craving hits and Pho Anh Dao is close-by, it's a solid spot to go to to satisfy those cravings.
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
I ordered on the phone and came to pick it up. It was ready quick so that was great! I ordered the usual pho (number 1 I think). The broth was still hot when I got home. It was good and I'd definitely order again. I did get confused about parking.

Yelp
3.5 and feeling generous to round up. My visit took place this past Thursday late evening as a first-timer. This place shares with a crawfish place. Upon walking in, head to the right for Pho Anh Dao and left for crawfish. The restaurant was surprisingly empty. Just like at every pho restaurant, I usually get Pho Tai, this time was no different. The broth was delicious and I didn't feel thirsty later. The beef was tender and had just the right amount, I actually would've liked a little more noodles. The bean sprouts were extremely fresh and crunchy. Sauces were provided separately and already pre-poured into little dishes. The fried tofu with garlic sauce was shared and it wasn't overly greasy or fried. The sauce paired nicely with the crisp of the tofu. I can't personally say to not order the beef stew noodles as I didn't try it, but the broth looked a little too oily with the naked eye and someone's stomach didn't quite feel well later. Service was great, food came out really quickly, and restrooms were clean. I'd order the Pho Tai again in the future if I'm craving pho and in this part of Alameda. #29/2021

Yelp
Food always amazing, service is quick, plus price you cant beat‼ i come here almost everyday ordering the same thing n it never gets old. love this place

Yelp
One of us ordered a bowl of pho and the other ordered the crawfish and clams. Both orders were served within five minutes, in my opinion waaaay too fast. The pho was luke warm and so was the seafood boil. We asked them to warm up the bowl of pho twice and the broth still wasn't hot. The seafood boil was not good and I asked them to remove it from my tab. Overall, the food didn't taste fresh or like there was any effort put into our dishes. We will never come back to this place.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
I ordered the seafood noodle soup and the broth just didn't hit the spot. I can't explain the flavor but it didn't seem like they focus much on the broth. The hofun tasted like overnight hofun. Some of the pieces were still hard. I love imitation crab meat but I don't think it should belong in a Vietnamese noodle soup. It just doesn't blend with this type of cuisine. All I can say is that I tried it. Will I come back? Most likely not. I rather drive through the tunnel and head toward international for better Vietnamese noodles.

Yelp
Great food with great server who made sure to check in every now and then. Nice local business. The pho was delicious.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing and on top of that the servers here are very polite and keep the place well maintained, our server, Minh was so so kind to us and we will definitely be coming back soon, the ambiance of this place is also nice and calming

Yelp
I went there today with my little family. The food was great. the service was awesome. Long story short, my daughter left her bracelet there and was historically crying for it. I called them, and they searched up and down and found it for her. We appreciate the over and beyond customer service they've given.
google avatar

Yelp
Currently fighting a cold and was craving some Pho. I haven't had pho since moving to the bay three years ago and thought I'd give this a try as it's super close to home. I was very pleased with the quality and quantity in my to-go order. The ingredients were fresh and neatly packed. The broth was hot and ready to serve when I got home! The small portion is great, but I recommend the large if you're VERY hungry.
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
We came here on a week night and it was pretty empty with only a couple of other tables. But the bar and southern food side was pretty busy and you could hear a lot of chatter from that end. We ordered the curry rice plate and an egg roll vermicelli bowl. The chicken curry was pretty good and tasted like the yellow curry in Thai restaurants. However the chicken was very dry and the veggies in the curry was still hard. The whole dish was like lukewarm and the rice tasted a bit old. The vermicelli was pretty good but the egg rolls were bigger than what you'd expect though they were overcooked and there were only 3 egg rolls. The was very little of the peanut sauce on the side too, which was kind of disappointing. We parked in the street right in front of the restaurant because we weren't too sure about the parking lot attached to this place since it seemed to be split with a neighboring motel so we didn't bother.

Yelp
Pho Anh Dao is the second location of this business, the first in Oakland off E 18th by Lake Merritt which I used to go to a lot when I was growing up. This place shares a space with a crawfish restaurant. I tried it once because there was an anniversary 2-for-1 special. I went and it was pretty good. They have a parking lot next to a Drive Thru Peet's. I'd consider trying them again.

Haoran L.

Yelp
Great casual neighborhood spot for pho. Consistent and you always know what you get. Very hearty and tasty and never crowded
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
Pho Anh Dao might not have the best pho in Alameda, but it is by far the best place to get pho in terms of value. There are many places to get pho in Alameda, but at Pho Anh Dao, you can get an XL portion, that actually has XL portions, for around 14 dollars (it was cheaper before). The pho itself is mediocre; the soup tastes good enough to want to finish the broth, yet not good enough to blow you away. There is slightly more than enough meat per portion of each bowl, and if you get an extra large there will be enough noodles to keep you full for a while. Their rice dishes are pretty good too with decent portions; yet I would still recommend getting a bowl of their pho in terms of value. Even their Bahn Mi's go as cheap as 6 dollars, if that is not enough to convince you to try them out I do not know what would. Overall the service is above good, the food quality is slightly above average, and the value is remarkable; hands down a possible go-to pho place in Alameda.

Yelp
Great pho & great service. Food is prepared quickly for takeout :) #1 is my favorite pho to order.

Amy P.

Yelp
This place was SO GOOD. I will come back here whenever I visit Oakland. And the waiter and waitress were so so nice. Definitely recommend this place. The pho was also delicious.

J J.

Yelp
It was awful and weird. I will not be going back. Rang dong is a much better alternative.

Corinne C.

Yelp
great tasty pho. service is attentive ambiance is old fashioned coffee shop set up in a throw-back motor lodge environment.

Yelp
Great place for quick Vietnamese. Love their grilled pork banh mi and shrimp & pork spring rolls. Recently ordered pickup through DoorDash (I had gift card), which I figured would be the same price as ordering over the phone (510-263-8577). Not so. Despite skipping DoorDash's "delivery fee" (obviously--I picked it up myself) and "Service fee," DoorDash still got their cut by inflating Pho Anh Dao's prices by ~14% overall. The banh mi in particular was a full 33% over menu price! DoorDash is being really sneaky about this (a service fee would've been more transparent). But is Pho Anh Dao complicit in these shenanigans? Have they signed an agreement to let DoorDash inflate Pho Anh Dao prices? I feel like they must have. And I don't think it's a good move on their part.
google avatar

B L.

Yelp
Haven't eaten here for a awhile. The price have gone up quite a bit. I remember xl was like $9+. Now it's loke $14.

Yelp
Finally had the chance to come out and we decided on Pho! We got the #1 phodacbiet, and kalbi beef rice plate. A couple changes to accommodate the Covid scene being qr code menus to reduce potential surface transmissions, utinsels/napkins/condiments are brought out with the food or at request. Staff was cleaning constantly around so thats surely reassuring. Food came out quick and it was delicious! Loved my hearty bowl of noodle soup. The meat was great, definitely good to have on a colder day or any day in fact. Will definitely return for more Pho!!

Steve P.

Yelp
BEWARE OF FLAVORLESS. It's sad to see that they don't care about their food and only about the money. Ordered the pho, BBH, and vermicelli. Basically, watered down soup, no authentic flavor at all. As for the vermicelli, the grill pork is dry, thin and unseasoned.

Aja N.

Yelp
Ordered chicken pho from here on DoorDash and it smelled like death! Literally, the chicken smelled so old and so bad. As soon as I opened the container I almost threw up from the smell. And DoorDash wouldn't give me a refund. I live so close to this place and sadly I'll never return. The smell was literally traumatizing, I'll never forget how bad it was.

Andrew F.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best places to get Pho in the East Bay. I have been eating here for almost five years and never once have I been dissatisfied. They have literally saved my health more than once when I was feeling ill with their wholesome and medicinal soups. During the pandemic, it gas been a pain to order soup from anywhere but this place has it down ta science so I can build my own pho the way I like as if I was sitting down inside the restaurant. Yelp
Really good fried rice. Beef broth is flavorful and portions are generous regardless I'd your size order. Substituted for egg noodles which were okay, got a little soggy for my liking but overall great food, beautiful ambiance, fast and efficient service. Priced pretty reasonably as well.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I'm so glad this restaurant survived the worst of COVID. It's still my favorite local pho restaurant, serving up heart warming bowls of pho for unbeatable prices. $10 for small, $11 for large and $12 for extra large at the time of writing. The portions are still true to size. The noodles come at the perfect slightly chewy texture, the soup is delicious and piping hot, and the meat is good. Service is great as well. To adapt to COVID, you view the menu through a QR code. Instead of having the condiments and utensils available to grab, they give you napkins, utensils, and a dish of hoisin and sriracha sauce after you order.

Tom G.

Yelp
Sandwiches I bought was horrible, bread was old and did not even bother to warm up the bread. One small piece of meat and very little veggie in it. I would not go there again!!!!

Yelp
I was chilling at home in the Flatlands. I started craving Pho !!! So I jumped into my Whip and rolled to Alameda and Pho Anh Dao . I parked my Whip in their Parking lot in the rear and rolled in . I was Greeted and Seated by my Server. My Server brought me a glass of Water and a Menu to Peruse . I Ordered the Butterfly Prawns and Spring Rolls for an Appetizer . I ordered a Large Bowl of Pho Bac Diet for my Main Course. My Server brought my Spring-rolls first with a Peanut Dipping Sauce . The Rolls were tightly wrapped and had Shrimp, Pork and Shredded lettuce as a filling. They had a great flavor with the Dipping Sauces. Out next was the Butterfly Prawns that came with a Dipping Sauce also . These were the Bomb !!! They tasted great!!! Last but not least was my Large Bowl of Pho Bac Diet !! It came with a plate of Bean Sprouts , Jalapeño Peppers and a Slice of Lime . The Broth was light but Hearty . There was a good amount of Meat and Noodles. I added a Dab of Hoisin Sauce for added flavor and Slammed the Bowl of Pho !!! Service was Good And Friendly !! Decor was Modern and Clean with LCD TVS for Entertainment!! Pho Anh Dao is a Baller On a Budget Approved Establishment!!! Review 1800- reached 2017

Yelp
Haven't been here in ages. Popped in here as a friend wanted to try eating here for the first time instead of to go. My friend ordered the combo meat with Ho fun pho' and I had the seafood combo with rice noodles. Eh, the food was ok, nothing that wow's you but definitely eatable. Soup wasn't hot but warm enough to eat. It was enjoyable. Prices are competitive. Ample parking behind restaurant/motel parking lot.

Ben E.

Yelp
Really liked the pho chay with beef broth. It is ready in no time, which is great. Extra large doesnt even cost all tjat much but you get a ton of food. I really liked they include hoisen sauce and sriracha in to go bags.

Yelp
This pho spot is conveniently located on Webster in Alameda. I see a lot of locals come here for lunch and/or dinner. Their food, pricing, and customer are incredibly consistent. I could have a thousand finicky requests of having steak on the side, extra limes, and less ice in my water and the waiter won't miss a beat. The ambiance is very calm and serene. I could count on coming to this pho spot after a long day and not feel bothered or rushed. $15.00 for a bowl of pho and a side appetizer of egg rolls. That's a pretty good deal tbh! They also have a parking lot in the back so you don't have to worry about parking. I can't say that I'll drive out of the way to come here, but this goes for most restaurants in Alameda. It's definitely a local pho spot that I enjoy coming to.

Yelp
When we walked in, the restaurant was literally empty. Which is surprising because it was perfect pho weather, cold and rainy! We found parking right in front. The service was welcoming and surprisingly fast. I ordered the XL Pho Dac Biet and my wife ordered another L. For drinks, we ordered a Thai Tea, Coconut Juice, and an Orange Juice. Unfortunately, the we're out of boba. Let me tell you, those drinks were BOMB! I know it's weird to brag about some regular drinks, but the juices were FRESH. The OJ definitely tasted fresh squeezed and the coconut juice had thick chunks of scraped coconut in it! Our food came out around 5 minutes after we ordered it. They did kind of skimp on the bean sprouts and lime, though. We had to ask for another plate of it. Despite the drinks tasting fresh, the food was lacking. I've eaten at dozens of pho restaurants and the (rare) meat in our pho appeared to be pre-cooked. The pho was not that hot to have cooked it in the short walk from the kitchen to my table. Final take: Service (5/5) , Price (4/5) , Food (3/5) I'm sure I'll be back.

Daniela T.

Yelp
10/10 food and service, we got the pho Tai, Nam, Sach, the broths was one of the best broths i've tasted in the bay area. and our server Minh was so kind and humble and made my whole week worth living.

Yelp
I'm looking for a good viet place near me, I've tried many other ones and this was the most recent place I've tried. I ordered the bun bo hue and their pho special. They had 3 different sizes: small, large, and x-large. The food was ready super fast, and it was delivered within 20 mins of ordering. The essence of viet noodle soup is the soup, and unfortunately, their soup was less than ideal. Bun bo hue is suppose to be rich spicy soup and their's was more like broth with oil. The pho broth was not much better, just mostly salty. I was most upset with the meat chunks that was in the bun bo hue, some of the meat chunks tasted like meat that has been frozen for way to long.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here one night for a late dinner. We ordered the fresh shrimp rolls for appetizer and ordered two grilled pork rice plates for dinner. The food was just delicious! And for the price we paid for as well! There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant but we figured since it was later in the evening. But I would think this place is crowded throughout the day because the food was really good. Our server also gave us a side of pho broth because I couldn't decide if I wanted a rice plate or soup. The side broth was perfect to have with my meal. The space was really nice and spacious. We sat in front of the register so there was a lot of room. Our server was great and attentive. Overall, I love that we found this place!

Yelp
Pho Anh Dao is a Vietnamese restaurant in Alameda that I decided to try a couple of days as it seemed to have OK ratings on Yelp. It is located on Webster & Atlantic and unlike most places on Webster has a small parking lot which I guess it shares with a hotel that is present in the back. It is actually two restaurants at the same location. You have Bucket O' Crawfish on the left/front and Pho Anh Dao to the right/back section. The menu is like any other Vietnamese restaurant which includes Pho, Bun and rice plates. I decided to get the Bo Kho ($9.25 for extra-large) which is stewed beef noodle soup, to-go. I had to pay cash as they have a minimum to use credit cards that I did not hit. After ordering it was a short 10-minute wait and I was on my way. I got two containers one with the noodles and the other with the soup, which was a good start but unfortunately it did not go any further. The noodles had all clumped together and turned into one hard lump. No amount of soup was going to help loosen them up. This was like eating rice cakes instead of noodles. The soup itself was weak and had about 4 pieces of beef inside. Overall a very poor dish. Price wise it was pretty cheap but the quality of food was terrible. I think these folks should actually take some time and see what they are actually serving to their customers to understand their shortcomings. After this experience I doubt that I will return.

Luis V.

Yelp
Service is absolutely terrible. I ordered 1 sandwich and it took 30 minutes... 30 MINUTES. 3 other people came in after me , sat down , ordered, got they're food, and was half way done before I got 'my sandwich... a sandwich! I tried to give this place a second chance because my first experience was somewhat similar. Never again
google avatar

Jenn H.

Yelp
Pho Anh Dao shares the same location as Bucket O' Crawfish. You can sit at either restaurant and order from both menus, which is what my friend and I did. I came here on a Saturday for lunch and ordered the #15 (Pho Tai) and an order of cajun fries. The food arrived about 15 minutes later and was a bit disappointing. The pho broth wasn't very flavorful and was barely hot. I like my pho piping hot so this was a letdown. The side veggies (basil and bean sprouts) didn't look very fresh. The meat itself was pretty good. The cajun fries were well-seasoned but came with a small portion of ketchup and it took awhile to flag down the waitress for more ketchup. Notes: - Definitely not the best place in Alameda for pho--I'd go to Sidestreet Pho for that - Good option if you're going with a large group and want different options - Service is slow, so try not to sit in the corners/sides where it'll be harder to get attention from waiters/waitresses

Yelp
Coming back from watching Star Wars, we were hungry so we stopped in front of Pho Anh Dao to decide where to eat, we decided to eat some pho. We each ordered a large pho bowl since we thought the warm broth would be good. I got the meatball pho which had 10 meatball halves, a good serving of noodles, onions, and broth. The broth was okay; I liked it more than the oily broth from Sidestreet Pho but it wasn't one of the best. It has gotten better since I first had it here so I expect it to continue to get better. I felt filled when I left the restaurant but ended up being hungry an hour later. The service was good with the waiter checking on us an appropriate amount. My friends told me that the restroom could've been much cleaner and that I should go if I only want to wash my hands so I waited to go home to use my own.

Yelp
Mediocre pho. Oversalted unflavorful soup, the meat did not taste fresh. I would eat here again if I can't find any other pho place but very disappointing.
