"The family-owned Phở Ca Dao & Grill, which first launched in 2001 and now has locations in Mira Mesa, East County, Rancho Bernardo and Santee, will debut its fifth branch in Poway on Friday, January 12. The debut of the 5,000-square-foot space ushers in some new features for the traditional eatery; while it will still serve a classic menu of Vietnamese comfort food, the sit down restaurant and bar will now pour craft beer and wine and offer both self-order kiosks and curbside service. Known for its signature PCD phở, the authentic Vietnamese noodle soup with a long-simmered broth, the eatery will also serve pho featuring filet mignon, oxtail and seafood, and a selection of made-to-order chargrilled dishes. During its grand opening weekend, January 12 to January 14, Phở Ca Dao & Grill will be offering a free PCD phở or any rice dish of choice to all local first responders who’ve worked on battling the Southern California fires." - Candice Woo

Had such a nice dinner here last night. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for a quiet meal. I ordered the creamy mushroom tagliatelle, and it was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time — rich, earthy, and full of flavor. Service was friendly and professional. Will definitely return.

Sisi

Google
So thrilled to find such a good bun cha grilled pork, meat so tender and packed with perfect balance of flavour and smokiness, pho is also very good and comforting, server was friendly and helpful tho not fluent, that language barrier might be considered rude by some people.

On Tuesday evening I went in and ordered two orders of fresh springs rolls with fish sauce. I have been insanely sick ever since with Salmonella, which has been confirmed by the hospital through tests. That’s the only thing I have eaten all week and prior to getting sick, so it was confirmed that this is what caused the Salmonella. Side note, I also found what appeared to be a bug in my fish sauce.

What a cool place, with great food, and a cute robot! Was pleasantly surprised to see how nicely appointed the restaurant was. Very inviting and plenty of details in the decor to look at. We were immediately seated, and the staff was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Pho Tai for my buddy and ribeye pho for me with salad rolls. Broth was hot and not overly oily, and the add-on ingredients were fresh. Really tasty pho. The salad rolls were wrapped perfectly and very fresh. Overall impressions from this first timer were extremely positive. Will be returning so I can check out other menu items and see the robot again!

The ambience and decor were beautiful if you appreciate little details. We were seated immediately and service was excellent. Food is good, average I would say. The robotic server was super cool and was the highlight of our dinner. Nice location with ample parking.

Google
Food was flavorful and all ingredients were super-fresh. It was delivered to the table pretty soon after I ordered. Service was good and the wheeled delivery robot adds a touch of intrigue. Not many others there when I ate, but it feels like the kind of place that wouldn't fire up much even if it was busy, so atmosphere gets 3 stars.

Google
So glad they opened the Poway location! Consistently good food, amazing pho and the servers are always friendly and really quick to bring our meals out. No matter what we order we start with lemongrass beef rolls, they are a must! The wings we tried (salt n pepper and garlic) were also a delight. The parking lot seems a little small here, but so far we haven't had a problem finding parking. Wheelchair accesible entrance.

Bee Keeper

Google
Hot and fresh food. Pleasant and attentive server. We got a plate of broken rice with egg meatloaf and the Lemongrass Grilled Beef Phở.

Yelp
Have you ever seen that viral reel (yes, I'm a millennial) where 3.5 star rated Chinese restaurants is actually considered the sweet spot for authentic Chinese food? Well Pho Ca Dao Poway is it, in the Vietnamese category. Always consistent, always delicious, always accurate and always prompt service. This restaurant (when I'm not ordering delivery) is clean upon entry and doesn't give that nasty hole in the wall vibe. Yes, parking can be terrible/tight if it's busy, but it's so worth it! While their salt and pepper wings can use improvement (needs bigger wings and more breading); I can't say enough good things about their Pho Tai, Grilled Chicken Pho, Spring rolls, trio vermicelli bowl, and beef Bahn mi sandwiches! Always hits the spot and has such a great flavor! I'm here for Pho Ca Dao Poway and also here for raising their rating to that 3.5 sweet spot.

Yelp
I think this chain is an institution in these parts of San Diego. Its good dependable pho. Is it wow? Well in general for me pho is a comfort food - im usually not looking for some fusion or some wow factor. I love that they actually have a menu item to get just the broth - for rainy days or days when im down with a cold its the perfect meal. I have tried the chicken pho and some of the beef ones. All are solid good. Their egg rolls are also delicious.

Elena L.

Yelp
So I was planning to order some pho and I called them and it went through and on the second ring they hang up. I called them again nothing I go to the restaurant and right when I pull up to the restaurant, I started heading to the doors, and this girl walks over and locks the doors. I was in complete shock that they didn't even let me know or even open the door and say hey we are closed. That was just completely rude. Since rejected me I went to Pho Cow Cali Express. And they close at 9pm but still answered my phone call and took my order. I never write a negative reviews. But I think they do need a review and I want other people to know so they don't have the same problem when they go.

Mei C.

Yelp
I'm going to help bump up the reviews of this place. Pho Ca Dao & Grill is a chain within San Diego and while it's not mind blowing food, it's solid, relatively cheap, and food comes quick. I'm not sure if I've just been able to avoid crowds or if they're just not that busy as an establishment, but there was never a wait for seating and again, food doesn't take long to come. The decor is nice, the staff comes and takes your order but won't constantly hover over you while you eat. It's a solid spot and I've been here at least 3 times now.

Kaja G.

Yelp
Service was fast and the food was really tasty. The Bahn Mi sandwich that I ordered was really good and the meat was so tender.

John M.

Yelp
Good food their pho soups and spring rolls were awesome their flavor was on point. This place has probably one the best fried spring rolls. Their service is pretty quick also.

Daniel W.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese food. Large menu selection and close to home! Service and staff are friendly as well. Great spot in TB to grab a quick bite to eat.

Melissa D.

Yelp
By far this location runs much a lot smoother and has better customer service than the RB location. You cannot go wrong with the pho here and the fried calamari is a nice alternative to the typical egg rolls. No complaints on the service. A great addition to Poway.

Tavelle A.

Yelp
Ok so it's confession time! I didn't go to Pho Ca Dao for about 10ths because I found the best pho spot in San Diego, so for years I would Lowkey Diss pho ca dao and call it Pho for beginners. Recently a co worker took me out for lunch and he said let's eat here I kept my comments to my self.... Instead of ordering pho I decided to get the Ban mi sandwich (charbroiled Beef, sauce cucumber and peppers.. don't forget your egg) the works y'all.... And guess what happened a year fell from my eyes and I apologize to all the staff for anything I may had said about this place! This sand which is the best Ban Mi, I'm sure a niche spot I don't know about has the actual best.... But for Pho Ca Dao to be a franchise there food is ver good specially there meats! IF ITS GRILLED ITS AMAZING! That's there specialty. So enjoy the food the hand painted murals in the walls!! And lastly the robots bringing you food haha Y

Yelp
When it starts to get that fall weather... PHO! And this review is to let you know they offer more than that here. Momma was wanting pho, and I wasn't feeling it. So I went with that good ole fashion steak and eggs with a twist. "Pho Ca Dao" has a broad menu and caters to all. I got the Banh Mi #7. It's basically "steak and eggs" with a baguette. Simple but so filling. The baguette was fresh and with that yoke from the eggs to supply the creamy texture.... The service?? Well if you haven't had a robot serve your meal?? Don't! Lol. Nah, I mean it wasn't bad, just odd to see Rosie the made from the "Jetsons" serving you a Banh Mi Sammy. Great location with adamant seating. Right off Poway road so you can't miss it. Definitely a must for the first for Vietnamese Cuisine first timers.

Yelp
I made an online order ordered a kids brisket pho as well as a kids lemonade, I was given a kids chicken pho and my husband picked up and didn't realized a lemonade came in the order. We attempted to call to fix the issue & our call was never picked up. Besides the wrong order the container was broken and all the broth dripped out to the bag.

Myrna M.

Yelp
Love this place, very fast, same price like other pho restaurants but very good!, We always order a small pho and My husband and I noticed, the portions are bigger than other places, we couldn't finish it! That Never happens!

Guadalupe G.

Yelp
Overpriced for some things. Pho was ok but the 2 rolls definitely overpriced. Nice place and clean but uncomfortable when workers keep on walking and stand and watch one eat.

David Joshua D.

Yelp
I've only come here for togo orders but it's always been fast and convenient. I usually order the N4 and pick and choose which toppings to add and also get an order of egg rolls. The food has been good the past times I've ordered from here. It's my quick pho fix when I'm in the mood or during the colder weather. The parking lot is a little small but I think there is parking nearby if it's full.

Deb G.

Yelp
Really really bad service. Continuously ignoring us, taking a long time to take order and bring out drinks. Then food took a long time to arrive, not to mention the servers were really rude. And much to our disappointment, the food was horrible and tasteless. The broth was basically just water and MSG. We would never go there again and I suggest you yo somewhere else. No wonder there are no Asians or Vietnamese eating there!

Patrick G.

Yelp
Fantastic pho, amazing service, beautiful and clean restaurant with tons of amenities. Also the staff are so friendly. I feel like I'm with family when I'm here. Cant recommend pho da dao enough.

Grace H.

Yelp
I ordered rare beef pho. Goodness I haven't seen that much of beef in pho since in the early 2000's. It was tender and fresh quality meat. The broth was bit salty and not hot enough for meat to cook. I didn't mind. I just added hot water to my liking. Service is okay. They had robot delivered food to the table and server set the food on our table. The server remembered who ordered what. Usually servers don't remembered who ordered what. Interior is modern Vietnamese decor with warmth and inviting, even have books for kids ro read to entertain. Although the place can be cleaner. There's pho and stuffs on the floor and empty tables uncleaned whereas servers standing around and talking.

Molly V.

Yelp
I hate to leave bad reviews, but I have to be honest. In order to give this place a review, I have to give it a star! I placed an order over $100+ for the office and specifically noted on there asking for them to put napkins and utensils but when I took them back to the office, there was none! Packaging was horrible. Broth was leaking, etc. Advice to the store: need improvement in putting effort on packaging and following instructions Very poor packaging and cheap togo containers when all your items on the menu are expensive $$$. Not recommending to the others.

Norbert K.

Yelp
Very disappointing lunch on our last visit. I saw the OXTAIL PHO (3/5 $15 00) on the menu for the first time and decided to try it.  The oxtail meat was overcooked and rather bland -- not as good as I've had this same pho in other Vietnamese restaurants. My wife had one of her favorites,  WELL DONE BRISKET PHO (3/5 $10.25).  The broth was very weak and lacked the full flavor we expect with pho. We sat outside.  Service was OK.

Lucy Z.

Yelp
This place wasn't crowded at all and we were served quickly. I got the pho with beef tendon (regular) and my partner got the bun bo hue (extra large, +$1.25). The flavors were spot on--not too sweet, savory, clean. My partner said the flavors were decent for the bun bo hue, although it could be spicier and the pork trotter was too tough. Still, a solid pho place. My only gripe is that the portion sizes are too small. The regular size was smaller than I expected. My partner, who got the extra large bun bo hue, still did not have enough noodles, and mind you, he has a pretty small appetite for his size. All he wanted was more filler food noodles to fill his stomach--not even more meat or anything. That being said, we seem to experience this issue at many pho places--there aren't enough noodles in the bun bo hue. Here's to hoping this review will play a tiny part in changing that.

Candelaria T.

Yelp
I really appreciate that they have vegetarian options, which are really delicious and hit the spot when craving Vietnamese food.

Emmett T.

Yelp
Our group came for dinner at this location of Pho Ca Dao & Grill after an outdoor group event. The place was less than half full so getting a table for six was not an issue. The interior looked nice and was definitely inherited from a non-Asian establishment as you could tell from the setup. The parking situation was kind of odd as they shared some spaces with Kaminski's Sports Lounge and BBQ next door, but the driveways can make it tricky to enter the appropriate lot if you're not careful. The PCD menu seemed pretty standard across their multiple branches. The prices were reasonable compared to other Vietnamese dining spots in the SD area. We shared a plate of chicken wings and egg rolls as an appetizer. I only tried the latter and thought they were average in taste and crispiness. I ordered the marinated char-grilled ribeye steak bun (vermicelli noodles) for my entree. The meat was well seasoned, but I thought there were too many vegetables in the bowl compared to the noodles. The service from the staff was just fine. I rated my dining experience with 3.5 stars.

Clement H.

Yelp
Your local and typical Vietnamese restaurant. Great and authentic Pho soup. Definitely recommend to all visitors or local to give it a try. Lots of seats and very welcoming.

Alyssa G.

Yelp
Haven't got to try them because when I called to place a pick up order they hung up on me. The call literally went like this: Pho ca dao: hello, this is pho ca dao how can I help you? Me: hi, I'd like to place a Togo Click Me: hello? Hello? I tried to call again but no answer. That being said, I don't think I'll ever try them again. And if I can leave 0 star or negative stars I would!

Alex M.

Yelp
Went there for a dinner with my good friend. Ok, the food is good. But service... The waiter didn't speak English. He can't understand most of what we've said. I have an accent, but my friend she is native. He was confirming the order by showing the menu and pointing out the meals. Finally, he read my friend's order and then touched my shoulder with his finger! Only to read mine. The other waiter, who switched him, looked like homeless guy who stopped for a glass of water. He was wearing outwear. They forgot to bring me my beer and haven't noticed that the music stopped and there was complete silence in the dining area for at least 10 minutes. When we were finishing our dinner and still talking they started to clear the table, which is absolutely unacceptable. Finally, when we left $5 tips, which is 8% instead of 0 that they deserved, the coward waiter took advantage of my girlfriend being alone (I was in a restroom at that time) and insulted her with counting tips and pretending that she is stingy. He was acting like such a small amount of tips is unacceptable. This place is screwed, beware.

Juan F.

Yelp
We were all craving Pho after a night out. We ordered take out and the food was ready when we arrived. When we tasted it, all our orders were salt bombs.

Megan T.

Yelp
Nice location. Parking lot is small but there's always seating inside which is nice. Food was great- quality & tasty! I also appreciated that the food was served fairly quickly & it was fresh. Yum! To start our meal, we had appetizers- egg rolls & fresh rolls (not pictured)- all very delicious & fresh! Loved the warmness of the egg rolls & fresh veggies to go with it. For the main course, we shared the stir fried egg noodle with beef and the bbq pork bann mi sandwich and honestly both were delicious!! The noodles were very flavorful & had lots of beef. The bahn mi sandwich was big & very tasty with big chunks of yummy bbq pork (also delicious with fresh veggies)! I also loveee their Thai tea here! It's strong & tasty! Sometimes I stop by just for the Thai tea or their spring rolls- they are that good! Service was pretty good. We were seated right away and there were still plenty of seating in the restaurant. Will definitely be back & highly recommend this spot!

Charlotte W.

Yelp
I love their food! And the service is always good! I usually order take out, been when I dine in it's always a good place to have your dinner :) overall I love eating here and pho ca dao has my heart!

Jerry H.

Yelp
Last week, We had lunch here and the pho was fine but not great. The interior is fabulous and welcoming. The broth was warm but not steaming hot. It's hard to cook Tai meat in warm water. The service was ok but some items took a while to get. Other pho places are much quicker and efficient. Today, We ordered lunch via Uber eats for pick up. There was only 3 customers in the restaurant and it was not busy. My online order was not ready and it seemed they started working on it when I arrived. They had 20 minutes to work on it. I waited for 15 more minutes as they prepped the sandwiches and egg rolls. I thought they were Easy items to cook. There was a very nice and kind host at the front door who was very friendly and caring. She was very helpful. She earned them a star! Otherwise this place scores 2 stars. This place falls short on fast, efficient food. There are delicious pho places in the north county area nearby.

Tom P.

Yelp
Always missing basil or couple leaves of basil after requested extra basil tor the pho soup

Leticia M.

Yelp
Food was not hot enough and I decided to leave. I waited too long for a menu and for my order to be taken.

J T.

Yelp
Food was as expected, but the restaurant was not clean. 1. Drinking water was cloudy with things floating and suspended within 2. Multiple soup spoons were dirty 3. Plate was dirty 4. Soup bowl was very dirty 5. Seats were not wiped down from previous guests (multiple booths)

Willy J.

Yelp
Just got back to work after having lunch here. The place is solid. Great service, food was excellent, and price point was standard. I ordered the House Special Pho and the Broken Rice 3-way combo. Broth in the Pho is extremely authentic and tasted outstanding! The broken rice hits different for some reason but for $15 you get to choose any 3 meats or shrimps you want plus the generous portion of rice and salad served with as well as the Pho broth on the side. Def vacating this place a few times a month now that I am back in Poway daily. They also have great drinks and good beers on tap.

April H.

Yelp
Now Pho Ca Dao & Grill Poway charges a credit card fee without notifying. They didn't charge it last time I came earlier this year.

Kiara D.

Yelp
This place is great, the service is super fast and all the employees are really nice! Last time we went the owner let us try a new menu item. It was delicious! Highly recommend coming here to satisfy your pho cravings!!

Susana L.

Yelp
absolutely recommend. great food. great service. they bring you all the fixings you need. $34.00 dollars ordered: #10 small (very well served) 2 shrimp/pork spring rolls fish sauce wings 7-up green hot tea

Austin L.

Yelp
I have no issues with their pho. In fact, I order all the time. But the fried rice tasted so badly and I don't want to order ever again. I added $1 to get a shrimp fried rice, and it literally only had shrimp +rice. No other ingredients were found, unlike the pic you see online!

Alexis W.

Yelp
Hit or miss for the menu. I ordered the same dish and every time and it tasted different EVERY TIME. The broth was okay. The meat was fatty and I also had grissle mixed in. Not good at all and the veggies were thick and just thrown in the bag smh

Deanne L.

Yelp
I grew up going to the Mira Mesa location, which always has amazing service and this was my first visit at the Poway location. To be honest, it was a rocky start. We arrived at 8pm and the gentleman who took our orders seemed to be in a rush and didn't seem to like that we wanted to sit at the bar area. I understand we came during the last hour, but customers don't deserve that. We ordered beers since they serve some good ones on tap, like Sculpin. That gentleman did not pour correctly and there was a lot of foam. Another server, a lady named Van (I hope I spelled it correctly) turned our whole visit around. She noticed our beers and came to repour without us even asking. She took over from there and she ended up being super sweet, quick, and accommodating. Thank you for all your help! She is THE reason why I give 5 stars As for the food, it was delicious! My rare steak pho was good and I really enjoyed the meat, Spring rolls were yummy as well. Filling portions. Establishment is clean and has many tables. Indoor seating during my visit during the pandemic in late October. I don't really see pho restaurants with bars, but this location has one with beer on tap, which is a huge plus.

torin c.

Yelp
Great pho, and friendly servers. Only taking away 1 star because it's FREEZING COLD INSIDE!! Why does a restaurant leave its doors open in the middle of winter? Bring a jacket.

Joe D.

Yelp
Be cautious if you have food allergy! Ordered "pork and eggroll bun" (B7), I specifically asked for no peanuts since my child has nuts allergy. When I brought the food home, surely it had peanuts. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional!

Bella B.

Yelp
Had a great time with my son caden at this fine establishment. It came with excellent service by the robots --super cool!!!-- and real live people LOL Would totally come again with the whole fam

Lily G.

Yelp
Great food, fast & friendly service. Clean and spacious restaurant. I would recommend to friends & family

wayne k.

Yelp
this place is just consistent. you know what to expect. quality food. good service. and good place for a quick meal. when craving pho, this is our go to place.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, service was excellent! We got the fish sauce chicken wings and special filet mignon and meatball pho. The flavor of the wings was very tasty but the meat itself was a tad on the dry side. I thought the pho broth tasted good but my mom thought it was on the salty side. We requested for extra basil and it was not a problem at all. Our server was very sweet, attentive and accommodating. Parking was plentiful on a weekday evening.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Listen. I get the server robots. I do. But, I don't....... We have been to the same chain in Mission Valley where the robots bring your food to you, then someone comes over to unload the robot, then they both peel off. This place in Poway, the server follows the robot around (generally). So what's the actual point? The funny part was, my friend who thought the robot servers were an abortion, actually had one of the robots malfunction directly behind him. Just sat there bumping into his chair with a blank "face" playing music. It was amazing. Unlike the food. We have been here maybe 6 times . It is consistently inconsistent. 2 of our party ordered Pho Tai and finished. One ordered fried rice and only ate half, and I ordered grilled pork bun. The grilled pork here is like a pork meatloaf which was unexpected compared to other thin cut grilled pho places in SD. The eggrolls were typical, kinda pasty in a nuclear oily she'll. Taste was decent though. And the spring rolls were only ok if you put the peanut sauce on in large quantities.the meat was slightly chewy and bland in the spring rolls. Service was quick to start and slow to finish, and we were simply awestruck by the robots passing centimeters away from patrons. I never got a refill on my soda and had to call out during our payment for a box to take my meatloaf noodles home. It isn't terrible. But, the algae overridden fish tank you stand in front of to wait for a table kinda sets the mood here. It's food, it's Vietnamese. But, it's not great.

Theresa N.

Yelp
Terrible service and quality at this location. Had been wanting to check them out since they opened up awhile back, and finally got the chance to about a month ago. Came in one afternoon to order takeout and the cashier (Brittany?) was a bit rude taking my order, I already knew what I wanted but still rushed me even though the place was empty. I decided not to think too much of it. When we got home the food was not fresh. Noodles were cooked although I asked for uncooked, but regardless the broth was incredibly salty and hard to stomach. The veggies were also not fresh - all leaves were wilted and browning. I'm not sure if there was a disconnect when the order was taken, if the order was checked for accuracy, or just plain bad customer service and food quality, but it was disappointing as we had driven past this location several times and had hoped for a better experience.

Zuli M.

Yelp
I don't understand the low rating. Is it great? No. Is it bad? No. I came midweek around 6pm. A few people inside. Lady behind bar pointed to a table. Only bad part of whole experience was waiting for someone to come take our order. Took longer than it should've IMO. The food is delivered to each table by a robot. That's pretty cool & amusing. The food was good. Pho was flavorful. Everything tasted fresh. The server was friendly & helpful. Not the first place in mind if I want pho, but I definitely would come back!

Audrey P.

Yelp
Another weekday lunch excursion with my coworkers. I have been to this Pho location before and it's pretty good. I ordered the grilled shrimp pho and was quite happy with my selection. The broth was tasty and I added a few of the usual additions to the soup.
