A downtown mainstay for steaming pho, vermicelli bowls, and fresh rolls since 2005. Beloved by locals for consistent broth and straightforward hospitality, it’s a comforting counterpoint to the city’s heavier fare.

Had higher expectations based on some of the comments. The food definitely does not “slap” - it’s subpar at best. The lady who took out order was nice and everything didn’t take long to prep. But for us, this was a one and done.

Google
Listen the food slaps, but I’ve got a gripe with the fresh rice paper rolls. Number 1 and number 3, can we put some more effort into wrapping these rolls? Your food is so good, when someone orders the rolls, they should get rolls, not a salad because the rice paper can’t hold up. It falls apart as soon as it is picked up to enjoy. Some rolls are already busting with filling as soon as I open the container. The portion is outstanding but maybe double up on the rice paper so that the roll stays intact. One sheet of rice paper can’t hold the hefty amount of delicious filling. It’s like asking a tooth pick to hold a scoop of ice cream. It’s bound to make a mess.

Google
Fresh ingredients, authentic pho, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Dining area is small and parking can be a challenge, but i overall a great place to eat. Ordered beef noodle pho with rare steak and shrimp lo mein. Portions are large and satisfying.

Google
N20. Remember N20. That is all you need to know. That is their Beef Noodle Soup w/ Rare Beef and it is delicious. For those beef jerky lovers that can’t stand the thought of rare meat, don’t let the name scare you. It’s raw when it goes in but the broth is so hot (watch out!) that it cooks the thin strips immediately. It comes out in a large bowl with sprouts, lime, and a sprig of Chinese basil (not to eat, to soak in the broth). There are plenty of noodles and beef in the beef broth along with scallions and maybe parsley(?). I’m not small and I could only eat 1/2-3/4. Not a lot they can do to improve the atmosphere. It’s just a tiny dining area with seating for 2’s and 4’s. Great place and great pho. Highly recommend.

Google
Golden bowl is a long time local favorite l. Their pho, noodles, and side dishes are great and for a good price. I order take out here at least once or twice a month. My current favorite is the wonton with egg noodle pho. The broth is sooo good than I don't even want to add lime or anything to change it. I highly recommend golden bowl to everyone. There's something for almost everyone on their menu. I've dined in before and the place is basic but clean. They bring your food to your table which is nice

Google
The Pho was sub-par... The soup base was ehhh. It's probably some pre-made stuff you mix up in the back. I wasn't impressed at all. Brussel sprouts were all slimy and had gross stuff all over them, they look really old and they were definitely not washed

Barbara Nelson

Google
We usually go for the soup... We tried a few meals on Friday night for take out. It was fantastic. The General Tso's chicken, fried rice spring rolls and chicken wings were so delicious. Will definitely be trying more from them.

The Guy

Google
8 chicken nuggets. $8. Who charges $1 per nugget ? The fresh rolls were 99% noodles. 1% tiny shrimp. Falling apart in my hands. Sad. The beef noodle soup was greasy and the meat was tough. Noodles were decent. The special beef noodle soup was not great. Wonton soup with egg noodle was ok but the wontons were doughy and undercooked. Chicken leg rice plate seemed ok.

Yelp
Got delivery last night because I was too lazy to put real pants on. Really craved pho. This is an excellent place for it. The beef is cut perfectly thin, there are noodles for days, and they send sprouts and other accoutrements in a separate baggie so you can add (or not) at your will. The broth comes in a separate container that seems to be heated by volcanic rocks, and it will not all fit in the bowl the noodles come in. It is super flavorful and I cannot recommend it enough, but for me the real highlight is the cilantro. It comes in the bowl with the (separately wrapped) beef and noodles and is one of the best things about pho. As the temperature starts to trend downwards, you need this soup to keep you warm. Trust me.

Yelp
First time visit here this evening, and disappointed is an under statement. One of the worst Chinese restaurants, i have tried in Manchester NH. Nothing more frustrating, than spending north of $20 on a plate of Chinese and still feeling hungry afterwards. From taste, to portion size this place sucks. Ordered an AC5 with shrimp lo mein, and some scallion pancakes. This plate had crab rangoon, wings (one of the smallest i have ever seen), and chicken fingers. I swear this was laughable. Wings tasted like they were made with bad oil. No flavor whatsoever. Will never return.

Yelp
Convenient location downtown Manchester, with plenty of street parking. Services is friendly & efficient. I usually get the same thing each time because I get that Pho craving. The pho is consistently delicious & served up fresh. Happy to stop by & get my pho fix whenever I'm in town!

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised to find this place around the corner from the Doubletree Hotel on a recent visit to Manchester for work. I got the special beef noodle bowl which had a hearty collection of different beefs and a satisfying broth. Was just what I needed with a bit of a sore throat and a cold front moving in. Seems more recent reviews have been more critical with an ownership change(?), but I don't have a before/after comparison I can make. I would go back for another bowl of soup if I find myself in Manchester again.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for an early dinner after doing a site visit in the area. The restaurant has around 10 tables available, and I was surprised to see how quickly it filled up on a Tuesday evening. The bowls are big, good for leftovers or to share if you're not ravenous. I ordered 30 with shrimp, but was disappointed to find only 6 small-ish shrimp drowning below the noodles. Since they were submerged, they were a big overcooked. The noodles were also clumped together, like maybe they'd be sitting. The broth was fine, and they provided me with extra bean sprouts when requested, which I appreciated. For the price it's alright, my friends seemed to enjoy their veggie pho, and I'd come back to give the apps and a beef pho a try.

Yelp
Hole in the wall but decent enough. I was craving Vietnamese food and it hit the spot. The meat quality was not to good but it was fresh
google avatar

Thao L.

Yelp
As a Viet, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for viet food. If their prices were lower to match their quality then I might consider it but a bowl of pho was $15 (...) for a bare minimum bowl with like 3 slices of meat. Their appetizers weren't bad (but I wouldnt say they were good either). Overall, their prices are too high for the quality and you should just take a hike down to MA for better pho or viet food.

Yelp
We have wanted to try this place many times when we came up visiting for few years. Passed on because it's very busy and had waiting lists. Finally, it's surprisingly empty on Friday night and we gave it a try. The Bun Bo Hue 順化瀨粉/Hue style Spicy Beef Soup was disappointed. It's nothing Vietnamese soup favor, it's more like Taiwanese Spicy beef stew noodles in some broth with hot oil. If you are looking for that Vietnamese anatto seed spicy taste, this is not it. I didn't taste the other Pho beef noodle soup, the ingredients looked okay. The summer roll was only okay with somewhat weak peanut dipping sauce. However, the Chinese General Tso's chicken was very good. I may go back for Chinese food. By reviewing previous comments, it looked like it changed hands and it's not same owner.
google avatar

Yelp
If you think this is a Vietnamese or se Asian restaurant think again It's a Chinese restaurant with 5 "Vietnamese" items on the board The prices went up about %40 from that menu you see Chicken pho was $14 It was gross. The soup tasted like its instant noodle soup Noodles were ok A few small pieces of chicken as pictured in the soup If you're going to charge that much it won't kill you to give a little more meat Chicken was ok but the soup itself was nasty. The mint and bean sprouts Came with it didn't look fresh didn't bother putting that in. I've never had pho with bok choy, seems more Chinese. Gf had lo mein. It was ok nothing to brag about. Tasted like cheap $2 lo mein in Chinatown Oh yes they only take cash There's a sign that's obviously been there a long time saying "machine broke cash only" I'm sure they will fix as soon as the cows come home..... If this place overcharges and quality is garbage they won't last I'm Not coming back

Yelp
While the noodles are good and will warm you up on a cold day, this isn't quite Vietnamese pho. This is a small, low key place where you order at the register and they bring you your order with utensils. Because it was freezing outside, I got the chicken pho. While the broth was savory and had a rich chicken flavor, it was missing the spices typical in pho (cinnamon, star anise, clove, etc). The chicken was tender, but I was a little confused by the toppings. There was plenty of bok choy, which I love, but is distinctly Chinese. There was no bean sprouts, cilantro, lime, or chili peppers. However, the dish was still comforting, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another bowl when it's less than 20 degrees outside.

Yelp
On a long drive south from Central Maine, my husband started feeling a little under the weather. Nothing like Pho to cure anything! I picked up soup and we ate in the park. Although our transport stole a little of the temperature the soup was delicious, well prepared, all the right fixins. Great price and nice people too!

Vylette L.

Yelp
Very sad, once wonderful little place to get pho and vermicelli bowls among many other wonderful dishes, has taken a real slide. the quality of the food is not what it used to be and the plasticware makes it very difficult to eat. I will NOT be back.
google avatar

Aleesha Z.

Yelp
Reallly enjoyed their Pho! Their broth is very rich and full of flavor. Would recommend when not feeling well because of all the fresh herbs and bone broth.
google avatar

Yelp
This used to be my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in New Hampshire. Sadly, after new owners took over, everything is served in take away packaging and the portions were half the size they used to be. My fresh rolls were falling apart and unappealing. The broth was underwhelming. Going to have to switch to Buba.

Yelp
People - 10/10 Food - 10/10 Drinks - 8/10 Decor - 8/10 Restrooms - (didn't use) Amazing people and amazing food what else could you want. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. I loved the chicken lo main. The table has a spicy sauce I'd highly recommend adding it. But can't forget the crab rangoons, they might be the best I ever had. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend this place.

Yelp
On the road trying new dishes at different places, and took the recommendation of front desk staff at my hotel to try the Vietnamese place next door. This place is so low-key I honestly wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been pointed out to me, but this tiny storefront is serving up big flavors. I had the #29, wonton soup with egg noodles, and yowza these wontons are special. Special-special. Big, juicy, and PACKED with pork and shrimp. The flavor of the broth is truly memorable, and the garnishes elevate what should be a really simple soup into a delightful dish that just keeps giving. This not your standard wonton soup with 2-3 rinky-dink, frozen wontons floating in a tub of tepid broth. THIS is the wonton soup your BFFs grandmother from Vietnam makes when she comes to visit and you're lucky enough to score an invite to the family dinner. cảm n bạn, Grandma, dinner was fantastic!

Yelp
New owners. The portions are a lot smaller. The food doesn't taste as good as it was before.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Gold Bowl was the go to place for pho for 10 years. Generally go once a month. Popped in today for lunch for a #20. Broth was weak and watery. No flavor at all. 3 leaves of basil. Summer fresh rolls (#1) had half the shrimp before and the smallest amount of peanut sauce. Neither was very good. Sad to see such a decline in quality. I would rather pay a bit more for good food than the same for mediocre. I guess Saigon Tokyo in Dover in Portsmouth are my options now.
google avatar

Mitch J.

Yelp
I only got takeout so I can't really give a full review on their service or atmosphere, but I will say my wife and I enjoyed the chicken Pad Thai and chicken vermicelli. The pad Thai was very unique and different than any others that we've had. The flavor was great (a fantastic balance of peanut to fish, without going too far in either direction) but we wanted more sauce, it was drier than we expected. The chicken vermicelli was good, just sort of a more healthy, plain meal. Nothing stands out too much, but it also delivers exactly what it says it will: nice assortment of veggies with chicken, rice noodles, and a sweet sauce to put over it. I'd personally come back and try other meals. I don't think we got the best two meals they offer by any means, so I'd suggest exploring other options unless you LOVE these two dishes from other places.

Yelp
Manchester does not have too many pho places to choose from, but that's ok. Pho Golden Bowl is all you need! As I walked in, we were greeted by a friendly lady. The menu is on the wall and I do believe they have one at the counter. I ordered pho, spring rolls, and a scallion pancake. Everything was delicious! I will definitely be coming back here soon!
google avatar

Yelp
We got a pretty large take out order (about $80 worth) on a Saturday evening. It was ready quickly and everything was packed perfectly which is important with some Vietnamese food since it involves assembling your soup or noodle salad and stuff. The hot stuff stayed hot and the cold stuff stayed cold. Pho Golden Bowl is doing NEXT LEVEL delicious Vietnamese food. So so good. The chicken pho is amazing with a deeply flavorful broth. I ended up drinking every drop. They have great shrimp summer rolls, of course. But they also have these pork summer rolls on the menu that are just out of this world, especially dipped in the peanut sauce. Really delicious. My favorite thing we had was the beef and vermicelli noodle salad. The beef is slightly sweet and the whole thing tastes so fresh when all the vegetables are added. I could eat that dish everyday for the rest of my life. We also got chicken pad tai and even after I was full I couldn't stop eating it. It's addictive. I really can't say enough about Pho Golden Bowl. IMO its the best Vietnamese food in New Hampshire. It might be the best Vietnamese food in all of New England.

Savannah L.

Yelp
This place! I love the how friendly the lady was to me. I ordered the general Tao chicken and the beef rice plate with some extra stuff on it. It was so good!!!! I think it's the best place in Manchester actually! I'm glad my friend recommended this place to me! Support your local small businesses and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Well first time at golden bowl and i realized this is like Burger King or McDonald that you have to come to the cashier table for ordering dine-in and to-go foods but the waitress will bring foods to your table
google avatar

Yuri H.

Yelp
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've ever been to. The vermicelli bowl is one of my favorites.

Jasmine H.

Yelp
Service was good. In the past I've really enjoyed their soup bowls. Today though, I couldn't be more dissatisfied with the general tso chicken lunch special. The chicken are enormously long tenders in a flat brown sauce, no veggies or spice. I should be able to easily plop into my mouth with chopsticks but instead I needed a separate plate with fork and knife set to dissect these 5" long sections of chicken tenders. My sides aren't hot either. Booo.
google avatar

Guy D.

Yelp
This small take out place features Vietnamese and typical Chinese dishes. I tried the General Tso's chicken. It was very good and came with rice and a vegetarian spring roll, which was delicious. The price was very reasonable and service was very fast. I went with a group of about and we filled about 50% of the sitting space. This was the first time for me, but I would go back and be more adventurous next time. I also recommend this restaurant.

Christina S.

Yelp
Mystery solved as to why this absolutely wonderful establishment has gone right down the toilet. Have been happy regular customers for many years. We have visited four times in the last month and noticed a real decline on each of the visits. Yesterday took the ever loving cake. Each and every condiment station at every table had dried on sauce clogging the openings. Gross. This never happened before. This morning we found out why on a morning stroll. We ran into the, who we now know are the former owners, and they told us they sold the business about a month ago. Retired and sold the business. My thought is when cleanliness goes unchecked, what's next? Best of luck to the wonderful prior owners! Enjoy your retirement. You will be missed!

Yelp
After a hike in NH, we were hungry and yelled a Vietnamese restaurant (I love Pho). This place came up and tried. We had fresh summer rolls and I had chicken pho with rice noodles and extra vegetables. At a glance the soup was very transparent so I doubt it was good. However after having first spoon of soup I realized it was good. Chicken and vegetables size was good and soup temperature was hot enough. I hoped they gave me more bean sprout. We both ordered pho but bean sprouts were even not enough for one person. The service was friendly
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
Ok, let me me perfectly clear, if you love an amazing Asian soup, you will be hard pressed to beat Pho Golden Bowl! There is no soup on the menu that will leave you, not only belly full, but completely satisfied. Today I had the luncheon special General Tzo's chicken! Amazingly flavored. Perfectly cooked white meat, light and crisp broccoli and expertly made fried rice! I needed this comfort food today, and it delivered!!
google avatar

Yelp
This has become my favorite lunch spot. Good food. I usually get pho with extra vegetables.

Yelp
Pho Golden Bowl is one of two Vietnamese restaurants in Manchester so I really wanted to like this place seeing as I just moved here and am a Viet-food junkie, however, I thought it was just okay at best. So yeah...not that great and rather disappointing :/ You place your order at the counter first, pay, find an open seat, and then they will bring your order out to you. You are also in charge of bussing your own tables so be sure to throw away your trash and place your plates/silverware in the designated bins. Ordered the #35 - com suon bi cha which translates to "rice dish with grilled pork chop, shredded pork skin and pork-egg cake". The rice was a bit on the dry side which doesn't bother me too much but it typically should not be that dry. The grilled pork chop had a good flavor, however, it was overcooked so 80% of it was really dry. The grilled pork chop is the star of the dish so it absolutely needs to be cooked properly. The shredded pork skin became mushy possibly due to the placement of their scallion oil (mo hanh). The scallions in the scallion oil should have been chopped a bit finer. The pork-egg cake was just okay. I didn't use the fish sauce much. Fish sauce is supposed to have the perfect blend of actual fish sauce, sugar, and coconut soda. The ratios of the ingredients seemed to be off in Pho Golden Bowl's version of fish sauce. Maybe I should have ordered the pho since it is their namesake, but my friend ordered their pho with meatballs and was not too impressed. I love Vietnamese food and this place fell short so I may or may not be back to give them another chance.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
I haven't dined in the restaurant yet, but I have ordered take out multiple times. I love their food. They make a good beef vermicelli and their Vietnamese iced coffee is spot on. One of my favorite places to get food in the area.

Yelp
Ordered PHO. Was delicious. But the thing we liked was a very clean restaurant and the staff was so friendly

Yelp
Pho Golden Bowl is back open in a new location! They are now located on Lake Avenue across from the Verizon Wireless Arena. The place is much smaller than the former Queen City Ave restaurant (now closed) with a very cozy self serve table seating in the front section in the back area of the place The place is an order/takeout counter place with open kitchen, order and pay first and your food is brought out to your table. As for the menu, they offer a good variety of Pho noodle soups, Vietnamese and Chinese dishes and appetizers. The prices here seem fair and most items/dishes are just under $12. I stopped in here recently and the place was pretty busy. It took a while for me to get the attention of the staff since they seemed very occupied with serving several tables their food. I've enjoyed several of the Pho soups at the other location, so I decided to try something slightly different (Chinese soup). I ordered the Wonton Soup with Egg Noodle ($8.50 plus tax) which was brought out to my table very hot in under 10 minutes. The big bowl of soup had plenty of homemade pork wontons and firm thin egg noodles, cilantro, dried pork in very hot chicken broth. The soup was pretty good and filling. The service here was scattered, from the initial arrival to finishing up the meal. The place was very busy, which is understandable. However, I was not given the standard plate of fresh bean sprouts & cilantro, which usually comes with the soup, while other tables were given sprouts with their soup. Anyways, there is a bin to bus your own bowls, plates, and chopsticks near the wall. I quietly walked out of the place after cleaning off my table and left a tip in the plastic cup.

Billy P.

Yelp
Went there multiple times hours before they close and both times they refused to seat us. Said they were only doing takeout yet the dining room was full of people eating. Will never go back horrible service

Kristen B.

Yelp
I wish I could leave zero stars. Pho Golden Bowl in Manch is under new owners as of this October. Never been more depressed. Its AWFUL now. Food is TERRIBLE, communication is HORRIFIC, every single thing down to the packaging. Save your money.

Linnea D.

Yelp
Been craving Pho for weeks! Finally gave this place a try and it did not disappoint! Count me as a new regular

Yelp
Don't trust hours posted online. We went here at 5 pm on a Saturday and it was closed.

Yelp
I've been trying to write a review for this place but constantly find myself struggling to write anything about Pho Golden Bowl. My entire dining experience was just generic and forgettable. Here are some quick points. - Metered Parking. Bring change or come on the weekend. Can ask for change in a pinch but don't rely on them to provide change often. - The menu consists of your usual items such as pho, rice places, vermicelli, and some Thai items as well. - Bún bò Hu tasted ok. This was a vietnamese soup with vermicelli and beef. That lemongrass and citrus flavor was nice and hot noodle soups help battle the cold New England weather, however, I didn't see and cubes of congealed pigs blood...That was a bummer. -Avoid the rice plates. My father ordered a rice plate with grilled meat and the portion size was laughable at best. As a native Californian, I'm used to somewhat overpaying for things but this irked us. Rice plates from our favorite vietnamese spots in the bay area and garden grove would fill up customers with food unlike the child portions here. - Atmosphere was super casual. -Bus your own table before you leave. Not a terrible place as long as you avoid the rice plate. Still, I don't think I'll be back. There has to be a better vietnamese spot on the area. If not, I'll just make my own food.

Yelp
The #19 soup is the best. The orders are always ready quickly, everything's very fresh. Our go-to place for Pho!
google avatar

Steff L.

Yelp
Step #1 when moving to a new city: Find a reliable pho place. After a full day of moving, mum and I were starving. Too tired to put actual effort into eating, we decided that pho never fails. You would think that when you're starving, almost anything taste good. Think again! My first bite into my noodles had absolutely no flavor. I thought perhaps I didn't get enough of the broth so I went for more, still no flavor. Finished my bowl of pho and definitely could say I had better tasting instant pho than the bowl I had in front of me. What a total disappointment. If this is how pho is represented in New Hampshire, this is a weak and very sad representation.

Yelp
Checked this place out today for lunch. Pretty good pork vermicelli bowl - not the best I've had, but still good especially for the price ($7.95). Veggies tasted fresh and pork was cooked right (I'd have liked it more crispy but that's just my personal preference). Check out their lunch specials - very reasonably priced ($6.95-$7.95) and the portions seem generous for a meal (my two guy friends who got Chicken with broccoli were stuffed and very happy with the meal). We went in around 12:45 pm on Friday and didn't have to wait at all - all our food came out crazy quickly. I'll definitely go back to try their pho (and update this review accordingly!) Also they had a sign that said $10 minimum credit card - my meal was totally less than that, but they took my credit card anyways without commenting on it, so that's cool. The machine also didn't ask me if I wanted to leave a tip (or was I just distracted and missed it?), so I wasn't sure what to make of that and didn't get to leave a tip (had no cash), which feels wrong. So the payment process was mildly confusing, but I guess it kinda worked out for me at least? You do have to put away the dishes/utensils/trash like you would at McDonald's, but only difference is that at McDonald's you wouldn't accidentally throw away their nice chopsticks like I did today.....oops. So keep that in mind when you're cleaning after yourself - hold onto those dear chopsticks!

Yelp
Stopped in on the way home from NH Tuesday. This place is sparkling clean, the service was fast and super friendly, and the meal was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
If yelp allowed rating in half-star increments, then I would have given them 3.5. I ordered Vietnamese Chicken Pho. It was definitely better than ok. The broth was tasty but it did not have that peculiar star anise taste that pho has.

Yelp
Excellent food across from the Verizon Center. Delicious pho, I like the meatball version ($8.50 + tax). Fast service. Very reasonable prices. Plenty of parking In the nearby public lot. Nothing fancy about this place, straight up great food. Seven tables, a couple restrooms. Your large bowl of steaming Pho comes with bean sprouts, basil, and lime. Sriracha, hoisin, and chili sauces on the table. Bon appetit!

Yelp
Stopped here on the way back to NYC from NH. The service was so helpful and attentive. We preferred to eat outside. They walked with us outside to show us where we could sit nearby. They then delivered our food to us at a nearby pub. The pho broth was on the sweet side, but not too sweet. The meats were all excellent and the meatballs were some of the best I've ever had. Overall a wonderful experience.

Yelp
I have never had Pho' before so I am a newbie and relied on the other review when choosing this place I was not disappointed. First of all there was enough for me for dinner and lunch the next day! The broth was full of flavor and delicious, piping hot and the noodles and vegetable were perfect! I love that I received a to go wonton spoon I will definitely eat going back

Yelp
Great small little family pho place. The food is made quick yet authentic, reminds me of my moms cooking. The place is located right next to my work and they do takeout so very convenient for me. The good is cheap so you can easily stop by and grab a quick bite. The atmosphere is cozy and calming. Walking in you will get a very tasteful aroma. Would highly recommend this place to Viets or anyone that is into Viet and Chinese cultured food.

Yelp
Soup has been my favorite food ever since I can remember, I eat it a little too frequently haha. I usually get the seafood soup with egg noodle and it is unmatched to any of the soups I've ever had or made! This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. Everything on the menu is delicious! I highly recommend trying it.
