A West Side staple for Vietnamese comfort—aromatic pho, grilled meats, and banh mi—Pho Lantern also gets nods from local writers for its sandwich lineup. Friendly, fast, and affordable, it’s everyday dining that still feels special.

You walk in and can already smell the soup in a home y way. My shrimp pho had a LOT of shrimp and it was delicious. The spring rolls were delicious as well as big but I’d probably get 2 next time because I enjoyed it so much. The dumplings were awesome and a nice size. Service was warm and attentive

Honestly the best pho I’ve had in Buffalo. The broth was super rich and flavorful, not oily, just really comforting. You can tell they took their time making it. The noodles had a nice texture, and the meat was tender and fresh. Everything just hit the spot. I’ve tried a few places around here, but this one’s definitely my favorite. I’ll be back for sure!

Went last night for girls night and had a blast! We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival by a very lovely hostess. She took extra time to go over the most popular dishes and gauged what we would most likely enjoy. The Thai tea is light and refreshing and I recommend you try it. I had the rare beef Pho and omg, I have enough leftovers for at least two more meals. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. The atmosphere is well...comfortable and quirky. We were given time after our meal to catch up and laugh. By the time we left we knew we'd be back for more!!!

I glad my daughter brought us here. All the food was great. Service was good, people was nice. Pricing is not bad. One item 1/2 price each day. We had pho combination , it was very tasty, lots of flavor. The dumplings were great, nice sauce. The sandwich’s were tasty and full of ingredients. The pad Thai was A+ . I will be back soon. Thank you to all the staff. Give them a try.!!

Google
This place is so cute. The decor is lovely. The servers were friendly and efficient. I had the Rare Beef Pho, and it was delicious. The price was extremely reasonable, and the serving sizes were huge. I was able to enjoy a full second meal of leftovers. I am looking forward to going back and trying more.

Google
This place was awesome and now I understand why that have all of their ratings posted all over their walls- The restaurant is clean and had TVs with music on and fish tanks to look at. It's eclectic but provides a nice atmosphere. They have a bunch of daily specials that seem super reasonable. The pho was awesome- the XL size is enough to feed 2 people and the pad Thai is one of the best around. The mango salad is like nothing I have ever had before but delicious- spicy but I highly recommend. I couldn't believe the amount of take out orders coming out of the kitchen on a Sunday night- it's nice to see a business doing well. They have lots of bubble tea to choose from- I didn't order one but saw a bunch go out and I will definitely try next time. Best part besides the food quality? Super cheap-

Google
This is clean, fresh, delicious, and visually spectacular food. I only wished the restaurant's physical space was more appealing. The dishes are very large, smell beautiful, and come to the table like little works of art. I'm not a giant Thai food fan, but you'd have to be a fool not to appreciate this gem.

Google
It was very quiet for a Saturday lunch. Nice atmosphere. There is major construction going on at the street so some side walks are inaccessible. I highly recommend the chicken pad thai. I dont usually like pad tai from different restaurant but this was really good with spice level 2. The pho large bowl was large- but I definitely had better meat portion and taste elsewhere.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for not only amazing Pho , but they also have a really great haddock fish fry. Which you can order daily & year round. Which is a huge plus , because many places only do fish frys on Fridays only. You get a hug piece of perfectly fried haddock with a side of fries and Cole slaw. What I like most about there fish fry is it's never greasy and instead of beer battered it's panko. Which is a nice spin . The pho is a staple for me and never lacks taste. They offer dine in and take out. Both options provide you with delicious and fresh food ever time. When you walk in your always greeted with a friendly hello and feel right at home. When I go here I always feel like I'm out of town traveling in a different country. Beautiful lightly and tons of decorations to support the culture. The prices can't be beat. Definitely a must try Of course the have a full menu with tons on options to suit everyone cravings . Try them out today

Yelp
Upon arrival, I was greeted and seated almost immediately by a friendly hostess. The restaurant decor was traditional, lighting was dim with a fair amount of seating arrangements available. If I had a derogatory comment it would be the choice of music playing - I think something a bit more zen would be a more appropriate fit. But let's get to the part that everyone reads reviews for - THE FOOD! Combination Pho - rating: 7 out of 10 I ordered a small bowl and the portion size felt huge! The broth was rich and savory with a hint of sweetness, however; it lacked clarity which is essential to every great pho broth. The bean sprouts were by far the crispiest I have ever had in my lifetime. The thai basil was fresh and fragrant. The meat was a little overdone. In my opinion, it's easier to chew when kept on a medium rare scale. BBQ Pork Sandwich - rating: 9 out of 10 I ordered this sandwich as I know it to be a banh mi down in the south. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The bread was crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. The pork was seasoned well and had a hint of sweetness which complimented the fresh, crisp veggies perfectly. The only thing missing was lemongrass, which would have added a mild citrus flavor and ginger taste to balance it all together.

Yelp
Seated immediately by the hostess, and our drinks came out right away. The boba Thai tea was amazing: Sweet and full of boba pearls (and lots of caffeine!) The appetizers were also a hit: Summer rolls with pork and shrimp, with a side of peanut dipping sauce, and then vegetable dumplings, fried. Very quickly this was followed by the entrees: A beef meatball pho - the "Small" for $14 was still too large for my teenager to finish half of it; I had the excellent avocado salad with seafood. Although it was very tasty, and loaded with scallops, green mussels, and shrimp, the avocado was an afterthought: There was less than a quarter of a fruit on the plate. The wait staff was very attentive and checked back after each addition to see if anything else was needed. The other clientele were neighborhood working-class folks, out for a lunch. Hip-hop on the speakers.

Yelp
Cozy, quiet, dark restaurant for an intimate meal. Service was good -- servers were attentive and responsive to my requests. XL Pho with Rare Beef, add veggies - More than enough for two people to share. Broth was flavorful but a little greasy for my liking. The rare beef was a lot chewier than I'm used to. I'm not sure if it's because of the cut of meat or because it was undercooked. Veggies included broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms. Since we had beef and veggies, the bowl was overpacked, which made it hard for the beef to cook (some pieces were bright red). The noodles soaked up all the broth too. I had to order a side a small side of broth to ensure the meat would get cooked, and the side of broth was $3. I was kinda surprised I was charged for that. Overall, a good experience and I would eat there again. Just don't look up at the vents. They're pretty dirty...

Yelp
Decided to give this restaurant another shot. This time the service was good and we liked of our dishes. We had the Spring Rolls, the dumplings and Pho Beef and Pho chicken. The restaurant is nicely decorated inside and parking was not an issue.

Yelp
10/10 on the Chicken Fried Rice , Beef Udon , Pad Kee Mao , Chicken Satay & Beef short rib. No notes , these people know exactly what they are doing :)

Yelp
Buffalo Hidden Gem! Driving through Buffalo on a road trip, Pho Lantern served a nice meal for a group of hungry road weary travelers. The menu varied much which was perfect for a group of picky eaters. My group chose a variety Pho, Bun, Shaking Beef, and even a Pad Thai and Fried Chicken Wings! Perhaps a little strange to say but the Pad Thai was a great portion and each bite packed a solid surprisingly lasting heat. Pho portions came in four different sizes which was great for my group whose appetite varied across the board. The service was great on a Tuesday night; attentive, efficient and friendly. Call ahead if you have a large group and they will have a table ready. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I've noticed there are quite a lot of good reviews here in this spot. I thought I'd give it a try. Although it's a bit misdirecting as I didn't get their signature dishes due to that fact that ordering pho for takeout never seems to go right. This review is more on other selections i've ordered. So if you're here for the Pho Review. You would have to read someone else's. As for their Shaking Beef with Rice. The flavor was there...but for the cost of it. The value wasn't worth it. Extreme small portions. The BBQ Pork Banh Mi..... I don't even know where to BEGIN in what the heck that was. The meats was scarce. The carrots were little to none. More of a garnish then anything and it wasn't even pickled !? I know not many people do Pate (Which I don't mind) But where's the mayo? I do taste the butter...but Gawd dang this sandwich was a let down. Meat had no flavor, only thing you DO taste is the jalapenos. Last but not least. The wings. Maybe at some Hooters Bar I would have accepted it. But from a Viet spot. I was dumbfounded. I don't know what exactly is in their "Sweet Asian BBQ" But it just taste like regular o texan style bbq wings. This experience was a bit of a let down.

Yelp
Had a great lunch there. The food was absolutely amazing. The flavor was authentic and it was the taste I was expecting like the food I tried in Vietnam. My wife like food there. So many wonderful options. Appetizing portions too. We like the Spring rolls, dumplings, and Pho rare beef which taste really good. The flavors were good and well-balanced of spices. Cool drinks. The food came out quickly and we were so satisfied with the food.

Yelp
It was hit or miss on the items we ordered. Good: Avocado salad with grilled pork $16. Not so great: chicken wings in fish sauce $10 and the Coconut Boba drink $5. We also included a small side of rice $2. Grilled pork had a nice marinade flavor and char to it, and the avocado was perfectly ripe. Both went well together with the vinaigrette salad dressing included. Chicken wings in hot sauce were deep-fried and then tossed in a thickened fish sauce, which was sadly way too overly salty. Typically, these Vietnamese-style wing dish should have an even ratio of umami savoriness from the fish sauce that should be counter-balanced with some sweetness, spiciness, and tanginess of other ingredients. All I tasted was salty fish sauce. The coconut boba drink was not what I expected - though listed as coconut juice, it came with coconut creme instead - which is obviously too heavy and thick and not really something you should drink straight up (it's used as an ingredient in curries or a dessert topping).

Yelp
One of the best place to grab pho around WNY. This place was recommended by a friend who live nearby and goes there quite often, knows about the reward program. I gave it a try and it was amazing. Ordered a large combination pho with a extra side of noodles. The large portion was huge, glad I didn't got the XL one since I was hungry. The broth, noodles, and toppings were fresh and tasty. Also, tried their veggies egg rolls and they were tasty. Overall, amazing pho and would definitely come back to try other options.

Yelp
I always thought that Pho Lantern, formerly Niagara Seafood, served the best seafood pho around. Since the transformation and reconstruction of this place, I only had take-out dishes. I missed the pleasure of eating in a newly renovated space. This time, we were sitting next to a dirty aquarium, with little water, no fish and no life. I didn't have much time to think about it. We were hungry and Pho Lantern took care of us in the best way possible. Our order was quickly on the table. My portion of Shrimp Pad Thai was scary huge:). It included everything I love about this dish, plus the flavor was outstanding. My companions had pho soups that looked very good, too. That's what I'll order next time I'm around. Sunday is half price Avocado Chicken Salad. The avocado was perfect and the chicken had a very pleasant flavor. It's good they serve the dressing on the side and dry cranberries are easy to remove. Just so you know, if you check in with the Yelp app, they offer a free soft drink. I saved it for later:).

Yelp
I've been craving pho and this was just what my heart desired. The raw beef pho was what I had, my partner had the spicy beef noodle soup. Her soup was a little too much seafood forward for my liking but the pho was wonderful. The service was quick and attentive on water because I add way too much chili oil to everything. Half off dumplings on Sunday, merry Christmas INDEED! We ate those too fast to take a pic haha
google avatar

Yelp
Perhaps the lesson here is to simply stick to what you know you can do well. Ordering a well known Thai dish at a pho place is very likely to lead to disappointment. This is supposed to be drunken noodles but it was made with tamarind sauce which is used for pad Thai and had no traces of oyster sauce nor basil--not a single leaf. It was basically pad Thai with wide noodles. If the menu listed wide noodle pad Thai, if I had ordered wide noodle pad Thai and not pad kee mao, this would have been a 5 star rating.

Yelp
Nothing in the interior has changed. But they must've gotten a new chef because she is fantastic and the food was top notch. Again, it could be a little cleaner, but the food definitely slaps.

Yelp
Excellent Bahn Mi sandwich, definitely gonna try the Pho now that it's cold. Lots of Thai and Vietnamese dishes to try as well

Madoc C.

Yelp
Went on Sunday last week. Four people there, not including us. Got the spring rolls GREAT btw. My mom got the pho soup luckily my mom didn't pass kidney stones (see my ricks review). My brother was very excited to see the "tropical fish tank" sad because there was nothing but a spider and a couple of pictures. Not the ones you would find at a river. Also got dumplings nice. At the end my brother and I got the boba tea, better than I anticipated. 4 stars because of the "tropical "fish tank. and service good btw.

Yelp
What a find! Really fresh and very well prepared. This place is worth a visit, and I am sure it'll be the first of many!! You want your palate tickled? Then this is the one!

Yelp
Literally my favorite place to get Vietnamese/Thai takeout in the city of Buffalo. Why? It's easy to order, it's easy to park, it's inexpensive, the food is well- packaged, and most importantly, it tastes really good. Parking near this restaurant is easy unlike Elmwood Village, Allen or Hertel neighborhoods. You can easily find a spot on Niagara or on the side street adjacent to the restaurant. The food is piping hot and it really travels well (not sure about Pho, since I think soup like this is best eaten at the restaurant). Whenever we order from Pho Lantern, my associate and I usually order the exact same thing: summer rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce, steamed dumplings, Pad Thai with Tofu and Pad Kee Mao with Tofu. We're boring, but the food is always good.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Food and service were very good. The interior is also very nice and provides a good atmosphere. Portions were also a good size, which is always nice!

Yelp
Pho Lantern was my first pho experience in Buffalo. The pho itself was good but not great. It was quite meaty and the portions were very generous. You do get a good bang for your buck portion-wise. I was satisfied with a large order, but they also have XL & XXL portions. I was looking for a more delicate and complex broth. Maybe I could have put more basil and lime in it, but it was a bit one-note (meaty) for me and needed more freshness. The meat quality was good and Pho Lantern is one of the few places where the thinly sliced beef comes out on the rarer side (and subsequently gets cooked in broth). My favorite dish was actually the papaya salad. It was a good balance of sweet and sour. It came with generous amounts of well-cleaned shrimp and perfectly julienned papaya & carrots. My second favorite dish was the vegetable spring roll, it was perfectly crispy and not oily at all. The chicken satay were good, but a bit dry without an accompanying sauce. Overall a good Vietnamese spot. The area seems a bit suspect, but we went during the day and it was absolutely fine. It's street parking only, so that's a bit inconvenient. The restaurant isn't much to look at from the outside, but the inside is nicely renovated. Service was friendly, food came out quickly and pricing was fair.

Yelp
Amazing service! My family and loved it there. Good service. Friendly ambiance. Will return for sure.

Yelp
Wanted to have Pho prior to heading to the airport and back to Texas. Had been in the area for a week on vacation. I have a service dog that serves children at a Children's Advocacy Center and travels with me everywhere. This establishment was the ONLY place to turn us away the week we sent in the area. Very rude interaction and refused to seat us regardless of the NY laws on service animals and my ability to provide any and all paperwork. We have a department of transportation number and fly all airlines without any issues. We politely explained that service dogs are allowed in any establishment and were still refused service. Just posting this review for anyone else who may be traveling or dining with a legitimate service animal. We settled for another place near the airport and had wonderful service without question or incident.

Stacy T.

Yelp
Excellent Pho! Could not ask for a better experience The restaurant was quiet and very inviting. Will definitely return again.

Yelp
Mother's Day lunch and dinner were a surprise from Pho Lantern!! Daughters are wonderful people with good taste in food! What came in lunch you ask? Well we got two ban mi sandwiches. One tofu and one avocado. No jalapeños thank you. Vegetarian dumplings and tofu spring rolls. There were also containers of a peanut sauce and a sweet (soy? )sauce and bubble tea! The ban mi seemed different than they were in the past. I couldn't put my finger on what was different and then I figured it out. I think they just needed more pickles and cilantro. The tofu spring roll definitely needed to be dipped in any sauce. The dumplings were fabulous and didn't need anything!! For dinner there was vegetarian pad Thai. Now I must say that I've never had such delicious vegetarian pad Thai anywhere ever!!! I have no idea what Chef does to the sauce that the tofu and the noodles are covered in, but it's absolutely divine!!! If you don't like a sweet sauce then it's not for you. But the portion was enormous and there was plenty of fried tofu in there as well. Did I take pictures???? Well unfortunately there are only two half ban mi sandwiches and three quarters of a containers of left over pad Thai. The pictures definitely wouldn't do the meal justice.

Allison S.

Yelp
Amazing always! This place misses. Whether you do take out, or eat in its great service and food. The Bahn mi, spicy udon, and the pad ke mow are our favorites, but everything is great!

Yelp
What a marvelous little restaurant! Cannot believe this place has been so close and I have not ordered from it. Ordered from Yelp website to get some Friday night takeout and only had to wait 30-40 minutes after the order was placed. When I went to pick up the food I could not believe how amazing it looked inside! Very peaceful, awesome decor and most definitely will try and sit down for a meal next time I'm in the mood for some Pad Thai. Food wise I just don't think there is anything more you can ask for. The quantity and quality is unmatched and a single order of Pad Thai turned into two full delicious meals. Spring rolls were perfectly fresh, even on a takeout order which is harder to do and the Pas Thai had the perfect spice and flavor combination. Pricing is unbelievably fair and most definitely suggest this place and will be returning!

Yelp
Quick stop before heading over to Canada. Our kids always enjoy a good bowl of Pho noodles. If your kids are like ours and don't have a big appetite, they can probably share a large bowl. It was just enough. They have 3 different sizes of Pho.
google avatar

An T.

Yelp
Went here twice and the Vietnamese/Thai food isn't bad for being in this suburban area! (I'm from the west coast where Asian food is everywhere) It's a bit dark dinning inside and the service was just ok but for authentic Vietnamese food I'd say pretty decent.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! It wasn't until after attending a second virtual cooking classes with Chef Vu that I realized I hadn't yet written a review on his restaurant. The classes have been fantastic but there's nothing like having the food that he actually prepared! On our last visit we got the chicken pad thai (with extra peanuts) and bone broth. Not only did the pad thai taste delicious but the portion was huge. There was enough for two people with some left for lunch the next day. Bonus, Chef Vu is such a nice person. Definitely worth the trip from our house, which is about 30 minutes away.

Yelp
Great food and service here always my go to on DoorDash for a quick meal for me and my hubby. We know we can't go wrong.

Yelp
Nicely furnished interior, good for date night or a lunch date. Waitstaff was courteous and attentive. The Pho Tai was very good and has flavorful broth (it's all about the broth). However, the menu item they called Vietnamese Fried Rice was a disappointing bland affair. I have lived in seven different states and have eaten at many different Vietnamese restaurants, so I know how flavorful a good Vietnamese Fried Rice can be and this version definitely suffered from a lack seasoning and proper ingredients (where's the egg and Chinese sausage?). It was more like a Thai Fried Rice, which is okay but not what I was expecting when I ordered it. The Pho Tai and Cha Gio (eggrolls) got a big thumbs up from my dining companions.
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
Ordered takeout tonight and it was delicious!! Our order was ready on time and accurate. I ordered the vegetable and tofu Pad Thai and it was very good! This was the second time I've had their Pad Thai. The first time, we got a "kit" to make it ourselves as part of a virtual Yelp event. I highly recommend checking out Pho Lantern if you've never been. Their food is tasty and their staff is nice too.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times and absolutely love their pho. There are a lot of good pho places in Buffalo but this is one of my go-tos because I absolutely love it inside too. There are tons of plants and fish tanks that line an entire wall. Pretty easy to find street parking as well. I did a virtual Yelp event last night that Chef Vu from Pho Lantern hosted to teach us how to construct a Bahn Mi Sandwich and was not disappointed. The sandwich was delicious and learning how to make it was a really fun process. I made the grilled pork but I'm looking forward to trying the cold cut next time I go to Pho Lantern.

Yelp
I've had enough of this restaurant. The service is absolutely awful and the quality of food has gone way down. My family spends way too much money there for bad service and food. We will never go back. There are several Thai restaurants that we can go to and not deal with bad service and food.

Yelp
Orders the Pho and can I say it was "Phonomenal" The broth was delicious and the chicken had flavor. It tasted very authentic and delicious.

Yelp
After ordering takeout from here several times I promised myself to pause long enough to snap some pics and tell everyone just how good this food is. First and foremost I'm no Asian cuisine expert but my tastebuds know what they like and people tend to agree with me. Plain and simple everything I've tried has been delicious!! I have exclusively experienced the dishes through DoorDash delivery so I can't tell you what the atmosphere of the brick and mortar is like or really exactly where it's located but I can tell you that I've ordered from there about five times within the past two months. Don't worry, I'll be back in the gym soon. My fave dish has been seafood pho. Super flavorful, fresh and I love how the simplicity of the ingredients that come together and create a refreshing and comforting dish. I can't say enough how much I recommend this and the x-large leaves more than enough for leftovers the next day. Other dishes I've tried have included chicken satay, calamari, and fried veggie dumplings. The dumplings are another fave of one- not greasy, nice crisp bite to them and very flavorful with a delicious sweet chili sauce. If you've made it this far then it's safe to assume I enjoy this place and hopefully you will too!

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular fresh and deliciousness served with care and attentiveness. Always add dumplings.. Definitely recommend

Yelp
The food was amazing! I'm not a big fan of soups but seafood pho had an amazing flavor. The Thai tea was also good. The works were also very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Pho is tasty, broth is good, a little on the oily side. Meat portion is very good. They give right amount of toppings too. Spring Roll is delicious! Fresh and clean. Wednesday they have happy hour prices. 2 for $6. We had shrimp and fried tofu. Both were really good. Will def come back and try other items on menu.

Yelp
Found this restaurant while on vacation. Was looking for good quality pho. Found it! Delicious food and friendly service. Will be back again!

Yelp
This is the only place that if I can give a 6 stars, I would! We ordered combination pho (small), and Vietnamese fried rice with pork. Both are super delicious. The plating/presentations of both dishes are awesome! For the price of the pho, I was surprised at the amount of meat they gave you! The soup is very tasty and the meat are not fat, and tender. For the fried rice with pork, I love their marinate for the pork, it made the pork taste extra good! Would highly highly recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
This is our go to for Thai and Vietnamese food. They're only a mile from our apartment and the food is consistently good and well priced. I've always enjoyed pad thai, but never fully realized how good it could be until I ordered the shrimp pad thai from Pho Lantern. It was perfectly sauced (which is traditionally kind of dryish) and really flavorful. But, I didn't feel like I got enough shrimp for the $3 upcharge...so the next time I ordered I opted for the veggie and tofu pad thai option. It didn't have nearly as much flavor...which I guess I should've anticipated. But still, I love this place and there are so many things to try. Another of our favorite dishes from here is the spicy udon. It's a great complete meal for one if you're not doing family style. The noodles are thick, but the perfect texture. It includes veggies and you have your choice of proteins; beef, chicken, crispy fish, pork, mixed seafood, shrimp, and tofu & veggie. We particularly enjoy the mixed seafood. You can specify various levels of heat, but in general it's a nice warm heat that enhances the rest of the flavors. They aren't trying to blow you away with the spice. I have only had the pho once. I ordered the veggie pho and the vegetables and noodles were generous. The only issue I had was the broth seriously lacked flavor. But after topping with a little hoisin and chili paste it was absolutely delicious! Everything is always nicely packaged for pick-up or delivery. I do love consistency in a restaurant and I'm always happy with Pho Lantern.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING. Probably the best wonton noodle soup in Buffalo. I also had the pork bahn mi, which was seasoned perfectly and had the best toppings. I think this was my favorite bahn mi! I would give it 5 stars, but the ambiance of the restaurant is a little weird. It was strangely quiet when I was there with a coworker. Otherwise this was a fantastic visit. I will definitely be back again! (So excited to eat my leftovers tomorrow...)
