I’ve had Pho a Phew times but it was never my cup of soup. That was until I tried Pho Loan. The portion was immense. The flavors balance each other and no particular herb or spice is overpowering. The noodles have a perfect consistency(not too hard nor to soft) but the beef in is what makes it the best Pho I’ve tried. Succulent and flavorful. Practically melts in one’s mouth. They also do a homage sausage. Will try that on the next visit.

Went here once and ordered 2 bánh mì, the wait time was long even though the restaurant was empty, the food was good, however, and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean, and I remember the price being decent. I would come again to try out more food & desserts.

Pho Loan certainly do make authentic Vietnamese food. A good place to eat in Little Vietnam. I enjoyed the fried banana dessert with coconut milk the most. It was crispy, warm, and the flavor of the banana plus coconut milk was perfectly balance in terms of sweetness.

Best pho I have had in a while! I got the House Special and it gives you everything you want with delicious broth. There was a good amount of flank, brisket, tendon, meatballs, and tripe, with a good helping of noodles too. It's exactly what you want it to be while under $20. I highly recommend this spot and it's super convenient to take the Red Line there.

My wife is from VN and ran a Resturant North of Saigon. We have been here twice and were very satisfied both times. Note that when ordering VN Coffee, expect the authentic pour over drip through into Sweet Condensed Milk.

It's unoffensive middle of the road pho. say you were growing up in some flat Midwestern State. Ohio, for instance. You're like 12 years old and you have dinner with a friend of yours house. Their mom makes meatloaf. When you get home your mother asks you to have dinner was. You say it was fine. You mean it. It was the same meatloaf every mother in the neighborhood makes and it was completely fine. You would eat it again. That's this place. it's fine. I'll eat it. I don't really have anything bad to say about it but I'm not going to rave about it either. The lady that took my order was pleasant. I got served about 5 minutes after I ordered. If that. It was hella fast.

05/16/21: It’s been a few years since we visited Pho Loan. From what I remembered, the last time it was pretty good. This time was a different story. I’m giving this place 3/5 stars because of the benefit of the doubt and I would need to go again to reassess my review. Also, it’s COVID-19 times and most restaurants are struggling. The menu is extensive and covers a lot of Vietnamese foods from noodles, Banh mi, noodle soups, family style dishes, rice, stir fries, vegetarian, salads, seafood, different regional foods, etc. We went with some basics of fried VN egg rolls (Cha gio), pho with rare meat and beef meatballs (pho tai bo vien), and spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo Hue). The egg rolls came with a side of sweet chili sauce. The egg rolls were crispy, but very bland in my opinion. Fiancé liked them though. The tablespoon of pho broth I tried was good. Fiancé liked the pho, but said the meatballs were not good. My bun bo was a complete disappointment. There was way too much fermented shrimp paste (mam ruoc) and not enough lemongrass. The broth was cloudy and not flavorful. The beef was decent, but was skimpy. The cha (Vietnamese sausage/ham) was soft and squishy. The Vietnamese coriander (rau ram) was plentiful, which I like, but there wasn’t much cabbage or any shredded banana blossoms. Let’s just say later that afternoon I got sick and that bun bo did not last very long in my stomach.

Best pho on Argyle. The regular size is pretty big already, but the large is massive. Totally recommend the upgrade.

Tried the Bun Ca Tra Vinh. Delicious soup- the catfish is exceptionally tender and the spice is just enough. Takeout was fast and well packed, and I'd definitely try Pho Loan again for their unique viet dishes.

This is the place to get your Vietnamese food fill. I enjoyed the customer service, casual and homey. I ordered the Bo bia and the bun Thit nuong with egg rolls. The portion was big and the meat and shrimp were perfectly grilled. Would go again! I also heard they have whole fried catfish so I hope to try that soon!

Food was on balance good/OK, but not great. Service was pleasant, but there was a lot of confusion about orders and how certain items should be self-assembled (I do plead guilty to unfamiliarity with this cuisine). Vibe is of a hangout for locals.

This is my first time to write reviews for this restaurant. It's a lot smaller than other restaurants in area. However, tables were clean and super friendly staff. My wife who ordered the Pho đặc biệt and she said it was delicious and the flavor just about right. However, my son who ordered the Bún bò Huế, according to him, the broth needs to have little more Mắm tôm, then that would make it perfect like homemade. I ordered #98 and the meat was perfect marinade, soft and tender. However, the fish sauce needs a reduce the salt a little bit. We would love to come back and try their other dishes near future.

3.5/5 The waiter was very hospitable, which was the best part of the time. I got a pho and summer rolls. The rolls were okay - I think there was a disproportionate amount of noodles which made it taste rather starchy. The pho was also okay - the broth was clear which was nice but the flavor was not as deep. Honestly I appreciated the vibe and the hospitality, while the food was not as good as some other places. Would still recommend though!

I was planning on where to eat lunch prior to the Lunar New Year celebration event on Argyle Street, and randomly discovered this Vietnamese place. It's right on Argyle St in the Lunar New Year parade's marching direction. The waiter kindly allowed me to change my table to the one closest to the street where I could watch the event while I was there eating lunch:) I got one of the Broken Rice dishes called "Com Tam Loan Dac Biet 7 Mon". It's an assorted platter with 7 food items. I'm not sure why it's called broken rice, as the white rice tasted no different. Other than that I really enjoyed this dish. I like to have bite size of everything. The grilled pork chop was especially flavorful and juicy. The soup was complimentary which was also good. Loved the delicious Asian sausage too! The downside of this restaurant is that it's quite small. It's pretty packed on the Saturday noon I was there. However the waiters were efficient, I was able to be quickly seated and I didn't wait too long before my food was served. I recommend this great place if you want to visit somewhere similar to Chinatown! This is one of the many Asian restaurants in the area. The area is full of Asian culture so I guess that's why the Lunar New Year celebration was held. It's also very close (within walking distance) to the Red Line train station.

Food is ok but not very flavorful compared to other options nearby. Everything seems just a bit shabby and unkempt.

If you're in argyle for some delicious pho please try Pho Loan! I highly recommend their Bânh Khot Vüng Tâu (crispy mini pancake with shrimp) it's ridiculously good! Their pho was decent! I feel like they gave us soooo much for a small size so you're going to get a good deal with your pho. They're also BYOB so I'll be bringing in some soju next time I come back!

There are lots of pho restaurants in the argyle area, but this is definitely a top location for me. The broth is always very delicious and the prices are competitive. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for good pho!

There are a million Vietnamese places in Argyle but Pho Loan is our default place to go. Not because of pho - we actually found most pho in the rea amazing and couldn't tell much of the difference. The thing you should really order here is anything with a *charcoal-grilled pork chop*. Their perfectly marinated and grilled pork chop is the best we've had so far - sweet, moist, flavorful. They also have a bunch of interesting appetizers like the crispy mini pancake with shrimp and the rice rolls - not every Vietnamese restaurant offers this So, don't just order pho whenever you get Vietnamese food! ps: I do have to say that they seem to only offer bottled water (50c each I think) which is a bit strange. But not gonna stop me for getting those pork chops

The service here is below par, and the food doesn't make up for it. The restaurant owners had their two teenage sons serving us, and they did not make much effort. The restaurant was empty when we went, so they weren't busy. However, instead of providing good service, they were on their phones or wrestling with each other in the restaurant, and when they did talk to us, it was very unfriendly and curt. I don't think I would come here again.

Small Vietnamese corner restaurant but loaded with delicious authentic flavor Food: Pho - 5/5 - excellent savory but clear broth, fantastic cuts of meat, ideal textured rice noodles, fresh veggies Com tam 7 mon (broken rice with 7 sides) - 5/5 - delicious broken rice served with amazing delectable 7 types of protein with the grilled pork chop being the real standout Banh canh cua (Crab udon soup) - 3.75/5 - only 2 crab meat balls, instead they gave shrimp sausage and snail sausage plus tofu and congealed pork blood Bun bo hue - 4/5 - very good spicy savory broth but not outstanding nor regards to the cuts of meat which could also be improved Hu tieu my tho - 5/5 - chewy textured tapioca noodles, clear savory broth, slices of tender pork, shrimp, squid/cuttlefish, fish balls and ***few slices of organ meat - definitely optional or try it if you're adventurous Bun rieu cua oc - 4.5/5 - not generous enough with crab nor snail; however the broth is deliciously savory and on-point Canh bun - 3.75/5 - generous on the crab paste, but too stingy or not generous enough on the water spinach and pork meat... also the broth tasted too similar to bun rieu and this restaurant's version decided to put in tofu, congealed pork blood and tomatoes even though this is NOT supposed to be bun rieu!!! The service was standard. I do want to highlight that they served a bottle of water instead of a cup of water. Parking is easy after 6PM, as everything is free. Overall, the food was GOOD. The dishes I ate were: [4/5] Dishes --- #94 | Com Tam Loan Dac Biet 7 Mon Classic Vietnamese dish with the several different types of meat you can get with the dish. It is a good value to try the different proteins you can get. I thought the highlight was the pork chop and nem nuong was the most savory. The rice was a bit drier than to my liking, but good dish overall. You'll be able to taste what pork skin and the other specialty meats taste like. I enjoyed it and thought it was on par with the other local restaurants. [3/5] Dishes --- #13 | Tom Chien Bot Tasty and crunchy. I may have liked it overall because the sweet chili sauce is good, but I imagine that you can buy any fried shrimp and dip it in that suace (likely store bought) and get it to taste as good. The size was moderate, as expected of an appetizer. Overall the place is good. I would definitely come back to try other dishes. #94 is definitely worth a try if it is your first time here!

I got #21 Bo Bit Tet and let's just say pictures are quite deceiving but also I've had this dish before it was just not the same. The description is incorrect as well! It says beef steak with Chinese sausage and that was NOT Chinese sausage. When we asked the server she said it was supposed to be like that... I was getting served andouille sausage, very disappointed.

Food was great, lots of flavor and ample amount of ingredients. The people were friendly and the setting was pretty peaceful.

In my quest to try all the restaurants on Argyle I did not hold high hopes based on the looks outside. I was wrong. This place is a good place to eat. There were several others there. One family with 3 well behaved kids. One middle aged man that was greeted by name so must be a regular. The place had turn over and several pick ups to go. I started with Spring rolls and peanut sauce. The rolls were generous and rolled tight. The peanut sauce was kind of sweet. I then had a vegetarian stir fry with steamed rice. I forgot that it came with tofu and I usually avoid that but even this was pretty good. The meal was well worth eating and not too expensive. The atmosphere was comfortable and I enjoyed a good session of reading and did not feel pressured to leave. It is a comfortable place to eat.

i can only review about the foods as i ordered from UberEats. i ordered the combo canh chua ca and ca kho. i like the two because the fish wasn't fishy at all. the seasoning is on the sweeter side for me (and I'm from Saigon). canh chua portion is good. i wish they included a small container of plain fish sauce with canh chua though

I've been coming here for the past few months and every time I try to order something new on the menu. My main pho has been beef and tendon and all I can say is Yum!. The dish of fresh vegetable is generous. For some reason, I end up drinking the entire soup at the end of the meal all the time and I am not thirsty after that. The service here is great and I like it that they let you pack your own take home food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes pho.

I have been going here consistently this year when I first tried it. Their phó is really good and the portion size is the biggest I have had! Price range is about the same compared to others. Sometimes the soup can be a bit on the sweeter side but I don't really mind it. I also tried their bánh mì sandwich which was pretty decent. Location is convenient. Right off the redline or you can park on the side streets for free parking. Keep continuing what you are doing. I'll be back again :).

Went to this place in the morning. There are some streets around where you could park for free but it is a hit or miss. Most likely you will have to pay for meter. We got sat down immediately. Service was good. The food was great! I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and combo fried rice. Both meals were really good! I would come back for these two items again. I had their pho soup before and it was pretty good.

This place was just ok, and I wasn't overly impressed with the oxtail pho I ordered. It had a weird medicinal taste and some brown, stalky vegetables that I had never seen came with it. Prices were a bit higher than neighboring establishments and we were charged for hot tea, which wasn't explicitly mentioned (though I guess we should have asked - it was only $1.5 but we didn't get any refills to the puny teapot that 'hot tea' entailed ). In total paid ~14$ for my normal sized bowl of pho and sad tea. Ambience and cleanliness all about the same as any other pho shop in argyle, and the shop itself is quite small. The fact that this place is literally right next to the station may account for the higher prices, but imo walk a little further for a better food experience.

Gave us a dirty table and the spoon was dirty Didn't even bother to clean are table even though they where cleaning other table. Don't eat here

Very good spot conveniently next to the train stop. There are many similar restaurants on this street but Pho Loan's sign catches your eye...follow the light! We had three different food items, one sandwich, one soup, one shrimp with veggies & spice, all VERY good. We split the bill in half for payment and with tip and tax only paid $17 each, for all that food!

Argyle is one of my favorite places to eat in Chicago, and there's a lot of competition for good food here. Nevertheless, Pho Loan did not disappoint. My friends and I loved the vibe as soon as we walked in - it was busy enough to give the sense that the food was good, but casual and home-y. There were some Vietnamese people around that felt like regulars, since they seemed to know the staff, and I really liked the energy. The service was really friendly and lovely, and happy to answer any questions we had. We got the bang khot cake, a special we saw on a poster taped on the wall, and was like fried batter and little prawns. It was kind of an impulse decision as an appetizer, but we all loved it, and I'm super glad we got it. My friend got the chicken pho, which had a really good fragrant broth, and I got the bun cha dish with the shrimp rice cakes, which was delicious. I loved this meal and would definitely come back again and work my way through the rest of their menu.

I love com tam, & when I heard about their com tam special, I knew i had to try. It is amazing!

I eat here a lot but it's been a long time that I have a huge portion of my order like this. Unfortunately, they cooked both meals with the same broth and they put the shrimp paste into wrong order which is my husband order Banh Canh Cua. I ate Bun Rieu and I supposed to have the shrimp paste instead. The chef was not very perfection about the foods or they didn't care.

I've always been a Tank Noodle girl up until recently. I just couldn't continue to justify their price increase of late. That being said, this is the only other pho place that I've eaten on my semi-annual visit while in Viet-town. Everything was great-the price, portion, speed, service and flavor were on point. Two phos, bahn xeo, and pork rice noodle salad (so much meat!) Extra bonus points for the fact that the place is pretty darn clean for Viet-town standard. I would normal wait to use the bathroom at home, but here I was comfortable enough to let my son use it. We will be be back here again.

Ordered Pho Tai and got sick immediately after eating it. Only ate half of it. Called the restaurant the next day and the owner said that she could not help me unless I went to a doctor and showed her the receipt for that. I didn't go to a doctor for food poisoning...I've had it before, know what it feels like, and I just let it pass. Things happen and that's okay but the way the owner handled it was completely rude, uncaring, and disrespectful. As I was asking her a follow up question for clarification she hung up the phone.

Half of our food didn't arrive. The restaurant confirmed it was their mistake and that it was sitting on the counter, and that they couldn't send anyone to deliver it and that I had a call Grubhub. I asked for a new delivery driver from Grubhub but it turns out they were gonna close in 10 minutes and told me to contact Grubhub to waste time so they didn't have to deliver it. Plus it arrived late, cold, and to the wrong house.

Pho Loan is one of my Go to places for Pho! When my other pho shops closed..I go to here!! And when pho loan close..I go to pho 777...I think 2 of the best pho in argyle...Pho Loans Pho Dac Biet is probably the best! Lots of meat! Not many places load up as much meat as they do!!! Generous portion and prices not so high! Will definitely be coming back!

Named top 5 pho in Chicago. Friendly, extensive menu with your typical pho, bahn mi, bun noodle bowls, and more. The pho is consistently good (try the oxtail version for something a bit different!) served with basic veggies including culantro (long serrated version of cilantro). Fun apps to try. And the friend banana smothered in coconut milk, tapioca, and peanuts is amazing. Vietnamese coffee is good but a little too sweet for my tastes. Try the Bahn Xeo (Vietnamese crepe)! Prices are good, place is clean, menu has photos. Try it!

It's much cozier here than the other establishments in Argyle. This is our go-to place when we're in the mood for pho and bbq pork plates. Yummm.

DISGUSTING EXPIRED MEAT AND BROTH. There is something old in their pho. I usually don't post reviews, but they gave us horrible customer service. I'm Asian and always weary of Asian reviews on Yelp, but seriously this place is the WORST. Their pho was stinky and their meat looked expired. I asked for something else on the menu instead because it clearly stunk like stinky feet. I told her I wanted something else and if it was possible since I did not eat the pho after one bite. She said no. I asked if we could just put the other things we got on the menu on our bill since she wouldn't give me something else to eat, she said no. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, but even worse, you may get SICK eating their outdated food and using their outdated sauces. ZERO STARS if I could. If you want better pho, go down a couple stores to Missaigon. Their food is SOOOO much better, fresher, and they're kind.

I would not rate any star to this restaurant not even worth for 1 star. first the prices is unbelievable they're charge $1 up for every dish however I just order 1 plate of rice with pork chop , egg is $19 and plus tax is$21 like WOW and when i look back the menu the price for it is only $14 to $15 . the services suck NEVER Coming back or recommended

Brought here by a friend's recommendation. Ordered the Meatball and Steak Pho Large. It was very good. The broth was tasty, everything was cooked and made well, a filling portion, and brought out in a timely manner. Service was extremely friendly. Only thing keeping this place from a 5 stars was the extremely oily broth. Otherwise, this is a great place to get your Pho fix. I haven't been much to around the other Pho restaurants around the area but this wasn't a bad stop. Oh, their Vietnamese Coffee with Condensed Milk is insanely good. Worth the $4. Wow, what a delicious drink. Right amount of sweet, and delicious coffee flavor. I don't know if the oil was just a one time thing - would have to see if they continually do that next time I visit.

We ordered delivery for lunch this past week, and the food was AMAZING! Comes well prepared and packaged to assemble your pho at home.

The food is always phenomenal. The staff is friendly we've never had a bad meal or service here. Definitely come and check out this place you will not regret it

Family restaurant, tastes great for Vietnamese food, especially Pho" Beef noodle soup". The size is a little small, it may be no room service a lot people.

This place was wonderful. Had the shrimp rolls served with a wonderful peanut sauce to start with. Perfect rolls served with lots of peanut sauce. The seafood pho was out of this world. Get the small, it is still huge. The iced coffee with condensed milk tasted like a coffee milk shake, cold, creamy, strong and good. This is another great place to go on Argyle in Chicago.

Pho loan is my favorite place for Com dac biet, the meat is very well seasoned and very tendor as well. My go to dishes for this place is the rice dishes or pho. What makes them stand out compared to the other restaurants on argyle is that the meat. Different seasoning compared to the rest.

Ordered a Ban Mi, Bun Bo Hue, and the House Special Pho. Ban Mi really wasn't anything special. The bread was a but stale and it wasn't super flavorful. Bun Bo Hue was pretty comparable to ones I've had at other ok places. Pho broth was great but the meat they used was super tough and over cooked. Last thing that kind of threw me off was that they charge you per take out container. Who does that?

My rule of thumb with Pho is that everyone has their own favorite place, so your mileage will almost certainly vary. I came in on a Tuesday for lunch, and had a decent (but not standout) experience. The server was pretty attentive and the food came out fast even though there were a decent amount of diners at the time, which is a plus. First, I ordered your standard Pho with assorted beef parts. I forget the actual name, but it was #13, large order. Portions are decent, but at the same time it's on the pricier side compared to some of the other spots along the same block. As for the Pho itself, I have to say I was a tad disappointed. Meat tenderness was a bit inconsistent. The tendons were good, but some meat was a bit tough. There was also something off about the texture of the noodles. Nothing too crazy, but noticeable. Finally, the most important part, the broth was a bit thin in flavor, and not as rich in beef flavor as I would have liked. It almost had a bit of sweet quality to it that wasn't bad, but I didn't enjoy enough to want to finish it. I don't want to sound too negative. In a vacuum, this is an alright place to get some pho. If you're looking for a less beefy broth, this place might be up your alley. When I compare it to other locations I've tried though, it's less clear if I would visit on a regular basis.

Fresh, simultaneously light and filling, this pork, veggie, and vermicelli dish in large will feed me for three meals. Of course, I started with spring rolls with fat shrimp. Hop off the Red Line at Argyle and enjoy a lovely Vietnamese meal.

Discovered this place on my train ride to work last week. It is literally right off the Argyle train stop. Makes it so easy to up with on and off the train. The weather was so cold that day which was shocking Caz I thought we were done with the super cold days. I ordered their sprig roll, crab ragoon and some pho that I cannot remember at this time; it was recommended by yelpers. They were all very good. Would def recommend.

I came in for a hot soup. But guess what they forgot about it. Didn't come out until 30 minutes after. When it came out, it came out SUPER COLD. So cold the vegetables were raw. When I asked the waitress to have the kitchen send extra broth she said we can heat it up. They put on the microwave and said the broth was extra. WHO THE HELL WANTS A MICROWAVE SOUP.!! Not only was it their fault and forgot about the soup they heat it up in the microwave. It would have been ok if the sound was delicious. It was tasteless. No flavor. You are better off waiting an hour for SunWah.

Had fried crispy egg noodle with veggies, and it. Was. So. Good!! Very generous portions, too. Seems legit!

I really like this place don't get me wrong, their rice dishes are really amazing and I've had only couple bad experiences if any, but today really disappointed me. I remember one time I ordered a dish similar to crab banh canh and the two little crab claws were completely frozen solid. Today I ordered two orders of the fish sauce wings to go and I received four small chicken wings per order. not only that, I'm 99% sure that the chicken wings were the spicy wings from the jewel osco chicken/deli bar. Very disappointed after spending 10 dollars on 8 supermarket chicken wings... from seeing the other pictures of the fish sauce wings, my order was not consistent with what I saw.

This is my comfort zone whenever I'm looking for Vietnamese authentic food. I love their Cm Tm and of course, Ph bò. Food is served fast, the restaurant is clean and the owner is super friendly. I definitely recommended everyone to come here if y'all love Viet food

our go-to pho place on argyle! really sad that it took us over a year to discover this place. but then we never looked back. the bowls of noodle soup here are so large, we typically never finish. bf usually gets some sort of pho, while i always get the bun bo hue. bf swears by the pho here. he loves everything about it - the broth flavor, the quantity, and the quality of the meats. i have to say, my thumbs up for the bun bo hue covers a lot of the same points. great flavor - check (not too sweet, not too lemongrassy). quantity - check (lots of bun noodles and lots of meat that covers the gamut from brisket to luncheon meat to pork hock to pig's blood). quality of the meats - check check and check. also with slightly al dente bun noodles to boot. simply the best! service is pretty quick and you can usually get the attention of the servers pretty easily. more attentive than a lot of other vietnamese restaurants, i'd say.
