"Pho Lovers is a family-owned restaurant that opened on Valentine's’ Day in 2015, with the goal of recreating the ambience of homemade breakfasts in Vietnam. The restaurant is committed to not adding MSG to their pho and intends to reflect flavors that prompt a sense of home, nostalgia, and camaraderie. Make sure to try the Pho Lovers Special Combo, which comes with rare steak, meatballs, and oxtail that falls off the bone, as well as their bun bo Hue and bo luc lac, a dish known as shaking beef." - Cathy Park

Decent Vietnamese restaurant experience. Soup was good with a generous portion of noodles, but only a few slices of beef. Imperial rolls were good, but on the small size. Fast and friendly service. Parking lot is a messy situation, as every business in the shopping plaza has their own dedicated parking spots, so it could be very hard to find a spot.

Google
The food is fresh. We loved all the rolls. I always get the vegetarian platter. The pho is tasty. Doesn't leave you so thirsty. Gives you lots of Noodles. Parking can be a disaster and hard to find on busy days. There are only a few slots reserved for the restaurant. The rest belongs to other businesses so keep that in mind. The service can be good or slow. Just depends.

Google
The Food here is so good and the service was friendly and really fast. I was thrown off by how quickly the food came out. But the quality was great. No complaints at all. The shrimp cake was so crispy and my favorite. Also the little soup that came with the meal was so good. Very light but tasty. We loved that the rice came out in a little heart shape. We had the chicken and the lemongrass chicken..the chicken was seasoned perfectly..the lemongrass was spicy. But all good. We will definitely want to go back. Our server Diana was really nice

Google
I ordered something not as conventional - bun rieu. I found the soup was kinda diluted, which is disappointing for any soup noodle dish, but the meatballs were good

Google
What a great place to eat. My friend and I were craving Vietnamese food and this place did not disappoint! It was also very busy when we arrived which is a great sign. Only downside is the parking situation but there was room in the back. I would definitely come back and do recommend this restaurant!

Google
Vegan options were delicious. I ordered the spicy vegan noodle soup and my boyfriend got the vegan vermicelli. Portion sizes were huge! I really enjoyed my meal. Rating 4 stars because we weren’t really attended to after food was brought out. Wish they would’ve at least refilled our waters.

Google
Pho Lovers is a gem in Sunnyvale. Whether you’re a pho aficionado or just looking to try something new, this restaurant won’t disappoint. Highly recommended!

Google
Love their pho - it's soo good. definitely my favorite in the area. Comes out fresh and quick - the large size is a huge portion! There is some parking right in front but it can be tricky to get a spot, so it's easiest to park on the street across from it.

Sarah C.

Yelp
The Bay Area has no shortage of yummy pho places, and this happens to be my favorite! I always prefer egg noodle over rice noodle, which this place offers. We also love their fried lemongrass tofu. When I'm not feeling soup, I usually order that with a side of rice. Although tucked away in an unassuming spot, the interior is spacious, clean and homey. It shares a parking lot with a neighboring market though, so parking can be a challenge sometimes. Service is great when it's not busy... but when it is, it can be a little slow, which is expected. But the food always comes out quick and fresh.

Sanat S.

Yelp
Probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Sunnyvale! The restaurant has a hole in the wall vibe, but indoors the decor is very nice and feels welcoming. The food is excellent, and we have been especially impressed with the spicy noodle soup and lemongrass tofu, but the regular pho and spring rolls are also great. The staff are also flexible with modifications to dishes as needed. The drinks menu is also varied, with not just iced coffee (which is delicious here), but many nice fruit juice options as well. The only minor complaints I have are that the service has often been pretty slow, where we had long waits before our food arrived, even when there weren't many other customers, and that parking can be somewhat tough since the lot is small and shared with the adjacent grocery store.

Lyee C.

Yelp
I went at around 11am on a Sunday, and the place was almost empty. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and a casual vibe with some Asian decor. The menu has vegetarian options and quite a large selection to choose from in general. The tables were clean, and our server was quick to take our order, but she mostly left us along for far too long after delivering our food and my party decided to head to the register ask for more utensils, and to pay, since she never came back. I got a passion fruit drink, which was very fresh and I loved the seeds included in it. The beef combo was not as hot as I would have liked when it arrived, and a tad bland. But that's what all the condiments and toppings are for, right? My friend got a chicken dish and egg noodles, which they enjoyed. I also got a tip from one of the staff that you could up-size your order of pho and split, since the portions are pretty generous.

Emeline T.

Yelp
Came in on a weekday for dinner and they were not busy. The menu has lots of options; I went for the garlic egg noodles with grilled chicken and the dish was quite tasty! It had a really good flavor and a generous portion of chicken. I did wish the ratio of noodles to chicken was a little higher since I ended up taking home a few pieces of leftover chicken, but overall I was satisfied with the meal! We also ordered the pork egg rolls as an appetizer which were pretty standard and yummy as well. Service was friendly, though not super attentive during the meal, but that isn't really a big deal to me. You pay afterwards at the front, and I think they have a credit/debit card charge (vs. no extra charge with cash).

Janet T.

Yelp
I came in for lunch today with some friends and I wanted some soup. I ordered the combo pho and my friend had a vegetarian dish while the other had veggie pho. Service was great. When we want Pho, this is our go to place in Sunnyvale. Our server Vicky is wonderful!!!! This is actually my second time here. My friends love this restaurant. Your meal comes out quick and fast, if you only have an hour lunch, this is a great option. We would definitely come back whenever we want some Pho.

Cyndi C.

Yelp
3.5 stars. The area was a bit run down so there was reluctance in trying this restaurant. To our surprise the food was good and came out quickly. Each plate was well presented. Large menu with many options. The pho could have had more noodles and meat. One area of improvement: Someone was sweeping while we were eating; I could smell the cleaning chemicals. The restaurant could use some cleaning but the ambiance was overall upbeat and family-oriented.

James Y.

Yelp
Just a truly satisfying bowl of pho. Then, throw in tasty appetizers, good company, and it's a great time! That was our experience this past Sunday. Meet up with family to enjoy some good Vietnamese food. We decided on Pho Lovers for their variety in pho and the pho hit the spot. The broth was well made, the meats and noodle ratios were on point, the garnishes fed well into the soup. It was just an overall, excellent bowl of pho. We also added an appetizer, good, and spring rolls, also good. Service was very nice and attentive. You pay up front. Using a credit card will incur a 3.5% charge. Parking can be challenging and limited in the private lot, but I think if all else fails, you should be able to find street parking. I'd come back!

Natalie L.

Yelp
Came here after a soccer game at Levi Stadium, and a nice hot bowl of soup sounded really good because it had been pouring rain a few hours before. I ordered a bun rieu, and the broth was surprisingly light but tasty. The crab pork meatballs were also tender and great! It also came with fried tofu that soaked up the broth, but since the broth was so light, it didn't have a lot of impact. Regardless, it was a satisfying bowl of noodles on a cold day. Service was decent. Not that attentive, but still kept up.

Ankitha D.

Yelp
Ordered to go on a Friday night as I knew I was coming down with a cold. I ordered the chicken pho and it was ready super quick. I went to pick up and the inside is very cute, in a small strip mall on the side of the road. It's easy to miss if you're not looking lol. I loved the broth and ingredients felt very fresh. I def will come back when I'm sick again!

Gemma A.

Yelp
worst customer service- the hours say it close at 3pm. I arrived at 2:15pm and they said they stopped service because they are 'closed' but when I called they said they were open till 3pm. Also, the last time I was there- there was curly hair like pubic hair in my soup - I do not know why I returned- basically sadly the only downtown pho place in Sunnyvale so I feel they don't even need to try. OVERPRICED too- one pho with tax and they expect 25% tip or more comes out to $35

Ram S.

Yelp
It's a great place to have pho. Best part is they have vegetarian broth and so automatically a good place. We go here whenever we are in Sunnyvale and crave for good pho. Pho can be eaten in the summer or winter, perfect for all weathers.

Megan Belle M.

Yelp
Pho tasted so comforting. It satisfied my pho-craving. The service was really fast--almost 5 minutes. You get a decent size for a small. I could barely finish a small bowl of pho. I also got hot tea with a cute little flower in it. My boyfriend and I finished our pho happily, and we'd love to come again when we have another pho-craving.

Jazmine V.

Yelp
Food was cute Just needed a little salt Not very attentive But they were nice I had to get up and ask for a box And needed a refill but I didn't want to bother

Joy M.

Yelp
I am completely and utterly obsessed with this place. I have finally found a pho that I love deep within my taste palette and my heart!!! I adore the broth and didn't even put any extra toppings in mine as it was soooo flavorful and delectable. The portions were huge and super filling after feeling sick. The broth was very fresh and satisfying! I loved the spring roll and tried the Thai tea as well as matcha Thai! My hubby and I had a fabulous The place is nice and clean a very homey environment! The servers are quick and the dinner came in under five minutes.

Viet D.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my coworkers based on one of their recommendations. Decent size, cozy restaurant space with a small parking lot that has reserved spots for the businesses. Upon entering was immediately greeted to get seated. Server was quick on asking for any drinks as we waited for our full party. He was also efficient with the order taking once everyone did arrive. I ordered the hu tieu, kho or dry. You get options of rice noodle (also fresh), egg noodle, or a combo of both for addt'l charge. The side broth has a whole piece of beef with bone, extremely tender; and flavorful with the aromatics from the green onions. Small comes with some pieces/ground of pork, a shrimp, few slices of imitation crab, and couple fish balls. The fried shallots were a nice touch! It got quite crowded closer to peak lunch time, understandably so... being one of the few Vietnamese spots around this area.

Yelp
I decided to try a new place for pho and decided to go to this one since it is really close to me and it is soo good. I got the chicken pho #20 with spicy broth and it is the perfect spicy level and i got the coconut water and it is sooo good can never go wrong with coconut water. The service was so good and everyone was so nice I really enjoyed this place will go again! I came around 12:40 and it was busy but not super busy they were able to get my order out pretty quickly which I liked usually during lunch time you wait a lot for some places but the wait here for pick up was maybe 10-15 min not bad at all they also have doordash:-)

Michelle W.

Yelp
Agree with other review that this place is a hidden germ for pho. Flavorful broth with tons of meat inside each bowel of pho. I love how they had tons of cilantro and onion to make the flavor even better. Servers were very friendly. Be cautious though! If you pay credit card, there is a service fee that you have to pay. The reason why I gave 3 stars is because of the parking. It was an absolute nightmare. This restaurant shared a tiny parking lot with the grocery market next door. Parking lot was extremely busy and it is almost impossible to get a parking spot. My car almost got hit because everyone else was fighting for parking spot. I also heard my neighbor table saying that they have to park on the street (which is not allowed and they are at risk of getting a parking ticket).

Becky C.

Yelp
Came here often, but no more... The pho is clean, but servers aren't always very nice (depending on the waitress), food is overpriced for what you get at other pho places, and parking is terrible.

Michelle V.

Yelp
The flavor of the food is fine. What I didn't like is that they charge for the garnishment plate of basil, Sprouts, jalapeños & lemon - $2.50 each! That is fine if they told us in advance. My group of 4 could have done without. They also charged for extra lemon. I have been to many Pho restaurants and they have never charged for these. Also, it's a tiny parking lot and it's hard to get a spot. So all the effort and up charges it is not worth it to come back.

Ron P.

Yelp
Got the number 16 Large. (Brisket and steak?) The bowl is huge and there's a lot of soup but not enough noodles to match the portion in my opinion. Service was nice and there was no wait! They do charge a 2.5% extra if you are paying with credit card however just FYI. The pho was good! Not too salty.

Rachael H.

Yelp
Run off the mill Vietnamese place. Got the veggie pho and it was good with big portions. Service was quick with a lot of seating and warm lighting.

Jessica J.

Yelp
This place was so good! I had the beef pho and my sister had the chicken pho and switched out the broth to spicy broth! Both were so good, service was great, parking was kinda difficult we had to circle the tiny parking lot a couple of times. We both ordered coffee and it was so good!

K N.

Yelp
Had the combination w oxtail here. The broth was good, the oxtail was mostly bone, but it was not bad, still had plenty of chewiness on it, could cook a bit longer guess. The pho came with minced fresh ginger, which was new and refreshing to me. I think this vietnamese restaurant might be run by an entire hispanic family, which I thought was pretty interesting, I saw from the server, busser, to kitchen staff were all hispanic, and possibly related. Can't wait to come back, and try their other dishes.

Karen J.

Yelp
Came in here around 2pm on a Saturday. Immediately walking in this waitress was already giving us attitude, not an ounce of hospitality. Idk if she had a bad day or what. Like girl we can take our money elsewhere. Next, I ordered a drink with her and wanted to change it (they didn't make it yet btw) and she came over looking annoyed at me and said "you wanted fresh lemon and now you want salted lemon?" And I said yes and she said ok and rolled her eyes. Will I be back? No. I'm giving one star only because I have to and the food was good and big portions. But there are many other pho places that have the same quality minus the eye rolling and attitude. Other staff seemed to be friendly though.

Vidya R.

Yelp
I still love the vegetarian spicy pho (53) and the vegetarian garlic noodles (54) . I requested them for a vegetarian version of the crepe and it was absolutely yummy with so many veggies and tofu . This food lasted us for 2 meals .

Eric N.

Yelp
I was feeling under the weather and wanted to get some soup. I had to yelp some good pho spots since all the good viet eats at down south San Jose. Pho lovers came up with one of the more better ratings so I called to place a takeout order. The guy answering the phone was not friendly and seemed to be in a rush. Parking was full in the small lot shared with a Mercado. The guy who rang me up was still not as friendly. The place was not busy yet they seemed to be in a rush. I came home and heated up my pho. The portion was smaller than I'm used to and could've had more meat.

Brian F.

Yelp
This place is usually my go to for Vietnamese in the Sunnyvale area but I'm probably going to have to rethink that going forward. Today while finishing an order of the shaken beef with garlic noodle I bit into a foreign metal object that was similar to a staple. This is the second time I've found something inedible in my food from there. Do better Pho Lovers! Your food is good but finding things like this is unacceptable.

Elise A.

Yelp
Very kind staff! The place itself feels very cozy, nice lighting and the music is not loud. It feels very comfortable and homey. The owner is very kind and attentive. I saw two different people come in and she greeted them like she knew them, like regulars. Always a good sign. Good customer service and kindness is rare these days, so I always make sure to support places when I find authenticity ! I ordered #11 to go, a hot tea and some spring rolls. Very yummy.

Melinda P.

Yelp
We stopped by pho lovers on our way to Sunday Football. The staff were very friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean and had cute decor. The food was good and portions were big. Nice place and would visit again if I were in the neighborhood.

Rosa C.

Yelp
Service sucks !!wasn't the greatest and food was ok safe to say I will not come here ever again they are very unprofessional taking in Spanish using Bad words !!!!

Pranathi B.

Yelp
It's been ages since I had a good bowl of pho and the one here finally broke my streak of bad pho experiences. Got the pho ga, the broth was deep flavored, chicken and noodles were perfectly cooked, most places tend to overcook chicken breast so props to them for getting this right. There were tiny bits of fried onion in the soup, they were amazing and they should have more of it. This was just what I needed to warm me up on this extra cold winter night. The pho was light as well and helped my tummy recover from a bad lunch experience earlier in the day. We also got the chicken with vermicelli. The pickled radish and carrots with roasted peanuts provided a nice tart kick to the other elements. The chicken was again perfectly cooked and very flavorful. It came with a sauce on the side but it had a very strong flavor of fish sauce and had to be used sparingly. Service is mediocre, our waitress was unable to recommend a dish and seemed to be in a hurry to get our order. We were not served water as well. I liked the ambiance though, it was colorful.

Natalia R.

Yelp
This place has been a favorite for a long time. Not sure if management changed but it sure seems like it. We ordered 4 bowls of Pho one was supposed to have tendon and it was nowhere to be found. It had one piece for a large bowl. Of course we nicely asked if we could have more and the waiter called what seemed to be the manager. Once the manager came he asked for proof of how much tendon wed gotten? Have never been asked such odd question. Of course we had eaten it already so we had nothing to show and he seemed skeptical. As if we would lie about having tendon? He eventually brought us one piece that the chef sent but still weird and hostile attitude. We also asked for it to have no onions and they all came with them. We pulled them aside no big deal. We also ordered the spring rolls which seemed much smaller this time. It was time to go and went to pay and notice and extra random charge which turned out to be the to go containers. Over all the experience was just not good. The service went down drastically not sure what changed but we will not be returning. Sad to see good places go down hill like this. Specially over silly things and long time customers.

Linh D.

Yelp
My bf and I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner because we wanted pho. I did not think the pho was horrible, but I was not particularly impressed with it. When we got here, parking was a bit tricky/confusing and small as well, but a car came out just as we came in so we got lucky. Despite the parking lot being full, the restaurant was pretty much empty. I already had a bad first impression: an empty restaurant on a Saturday at peak dinner time, and the customers that ARE there are not Vietnamese. Not a good sign if you're wanting good pho. My bf and I shared a large #12 combo special pho. First thing I noticed, there was way too much noodles and little meat in comparison. The noodles were a slight touch over-cooked as well. I also felt that the broth was not as strong and flavorful as other places. It's not bad, but it could be better. The large was a perfect amount for us though. The staff was nice and helpful. However, the place charges you a 3.5% merchant fee for using a debit/credit card. We already saw this on the side of the napkin dispenser, but the cashier didn't physically say this when making payment. I just think they need to do this to be more transparent about this. I don't think there was an additional sign at the counter either. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for pho. There isn't anything special or noteworthy about the pho, and there are plenty of better pho restaurants around the area.

Bindu A.

Yelp
Our go to place for Vietnamese food! We have been here several times and had best experience each time. We have tried only vegetarian food here most of the time. I love Vietnamese food but it was hard to find places with good veggie pho ever since I decided to go vegetarian, until I chanced upon this place. The summer rolls are the best around the area! Very yummy and consistent taste over the years. Veggie Pho is amazing! Garlic noodles with fried tofu is our goto dish! Great portion sizes and quick service! Salted lemon soda with pickled lemons is great and I have not tried that before.

Daniel Z.

Yelp
My go-to pho spot in South Bay! The service is fast and the food is great. Just came here on a hot summer day (90+ Fahrenheit) because I was sick and needed some noodle soup. The temperature inside the restaurant was nice and cool with the AC on :)

Tam V.

Yelp
I like my pho broth naturally super flavorful. This beef pho was about a 4/5 in flavor, but the tripe was delicious. The service is average. They will come around once or twice and you pay in the front. The place was highly decorated and it has that authentic look and feel.

Akira S.

Yelp
My favorite pho place ever. The staff is so kind and loving. The pho broth is always on point and their fresh noodles is to die for. If you're thinking about pho I 10/10 recommend this place!! The inside is so cute too!!

Annabelle R.

Yelp
When we arrived at the restaurant, we noticed that there's a parking lot outside but each space is dedicated to specific businesses, and there are far more Mi Ranchito spaces than Pho Lovers. Inside, there is beautiful decor and artwork on the wall, and plenty of seating, though we were ordering for takeout this past Sunday evening. The workers were friendly, and the wait for food was pretty quick, about 10 minutes. We got the eggrolls with fish sauce on the side, Dac Biet Lovers Special Noodle Soup (with sliced steak, beef balls, and ox tail), and the grilled pork chop plate with steam rice (shaped liked a heart, even in the to-go container :) The food overall wasn't perfect. I've had pork chops with better flavor, but I still enjoyed my meal, and the cucumber and tomato slices on the side were super fresh and delicious. The pho didn't come with enough hoisin sauce, though it was still pretty good, and hot enough even for takeout. The egg rolls were really good, no sauce needed, they were hot, crunchy on the outside, with delicious pork filling. They were on the smaller side, but too good to really complain about. Overall, I liked this place, and would return to try other items on their menu.

Irene V.

Yelp
Mediocre at best. They have an up charge for lemons too lol. The egg rolls were pretty tasty but the Pho was not.

Robert P.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Best PHO in our area! Friendly helpful staff. Gracious and helpful! Fun original atmosphere Highly recommended!!

Christine L.

Yelp
Parking lot could be better but the food is great! Somehow have managed to snag a parking spot every time but it is limited. Coming from a Vietnamese American, who eats at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, everything I have tasted here so far has been yummy! Bun Bo Hue is among my top 2 places to get JT. Perfect amount of spice and not overly salty. Pho was a tad on the sweeter side but not in a bad way. Their fried tofu appetizer was one of my favorite tofu dishes I've had. Typically I'm picky with how my tofu is served but this was perfectly crispy. Friends enjoyed their vegan pho here and I love that they have a dedicated section of the menu that is vegetarian / vegan. Makes it easy to come in groups. Lots of seating here and restrooms have generally been clean. Further past the unisex restroom there's a women's restroom I didn't notice the first time. Happy to have discovered great a Vietnamese options in this area and not having to drive to San Jose to get quality.

Ashley T.

Yelp
overall: 3.5/5 came on a wednesday around 7pm and it was pretty open seating wise & we were helped immediately. had an itch for some pho so i decided to go to this place, we ordered the large combo (#12) & cha gio. i thought the cha gio was pretty good and came out fast, hot and fresh. the combo was was okay, i thought it could use more tanginess so i added extra lime. parking is kinda weird at this place so i'd prob skip this place if it was the weekend or try to see if there is any street parking close by but if it was the weekday it would be fine inside was p quiet and over thought it was pretty clean. would recommend if you are in the area

Joshua H.

Yelp
parking is really weird here - the lot is super small and there's only a handful of spots that are for "pho lovers" customers. there's a lot right next to it that doesn't seem to be as restricted, so we parked there. it was semi busy on a wednesday night, but we still got seated immediately. interior wasn't too loud and service was pretty fast. egg rolls: 4/5 it was good but nothing special. outside was crispy, inside was burning hot, dipping sauce was standard. pho: 4/5 thought it was similar to the egg rolls in that it was good but nothing amazing. the broth was flavorful and hit the spot. some of noodles were a tad bit mushy/overcooked, but there was a good amount of meat. we split a large bowl between two moderately hungry people and it was a good portion. all in all, this place did satisfy the pho craving but there's definitely better spots in san jose

Jessica C.

Yelp
Very popular place! The oxtail was a bit undercooked and bland. Service is to pay after you eat.

Eva L.

Yelp
Had the steak and brisket pho but with yellow noodles. The pho broth was beefy in taste, not too salty, less sweet than other pho restaurants. You can taste the combination of spices giving the broth good umami flavor. Both the steak and brisket were of very good quality, tender and cleaner taste. I've had pho from other places with the meat tasting old, gamy or freezer burnt. So I appreciated Pho Lovers having better meat quality. They have one of the best fried rolls in the area. Rolls were full of well seasoned meat filling and crispy on the outside. The fried roll wrapper was not too thick which made it crispy without having to deal with thick chewy wrapper when trying to take a bite. They're not stingy on ingredients. Generous portion on meat and noodles for the price. It was around $14 for the regular sized pho. Food came out quickly. Staff were nice. Clean dining area. Parking can be difficult during peak hours.

Kaelin N.

Yelp
Parking here really sucks. It's a tiny little strip stared with a grocery store, and I'm really concerned about how tight the spaces are and how many people come in and out. Pho here is affordable! I loved their nem nuong spring roll. The pho itself was really good too! It is just really far for me: 40 minute drive! I drove out here with the intention to try Pho Lovers and I was not let down. I'd def come back when I'm in the area! Also, it is cheaper to pay cash versus card!

Josh B.

Yelp
We've been eating here for years. Food is so good, pho broth is amazing, staff is very friendly, and very family friendly. Service is fast and take out in excellent. They have been a go to for a family for years now. Very nice inside, beautiful decor. Not super busy but frequented. Can't say enough good things.

Enes V.

Yelp
Food is great but my favorite is Chicken and Beef pho Pho is amazing Service is top Thx o lot

Dino D.

Yelp
Nice place to visit. Very roomy had no problem handling our group of 7. The restroom was clean and stocked. Employees were very nice and personable. Prices are reasonable and good portions. They did a very good job on my Pho. I would come back. Sorry no pictures.
