103 Restaurants Shine In The Inaugural Edition Of The MICHELIN Guide Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, Including 4 MICHELIN Stars

"Despite a hard-to-find location down a narrow alley, this spot has been attracting hungry Saigonese with its traditional beef noodle soup since 1945. Choose between beef tenderloin, brisket and a mix of different cuts available on the day, and don’t miss the freshly baked pâté chaud: the puff pastry is flaky and the meat filling piping hot." - The MICHELIN Guide

If you're looking for a clean home made tasting bowl of Pho this is your place. I prefer the chicken broth over the beef. I recommend the pork or shrimp Pho and the pork & chicken spring rolls are amazing and full of flavor. This place is pretty affordable and cheaper then the ramen houses close by.

UPDATED - 1/10/2024 Located off a busy Wood Avenue in Linden, my colleague and I enjoyed every meal at this family-run establishment. Today, some of us decided to order takeout from Phở Minh via their website for delivery. Their extensive menu featured a wide range of Vietnamese options, including vermicelli, noodle soups, vegetarian dishes, and more, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. We decided to order Gỏi Cuốn Chay (Tofu Summer rolls with lettuce and rice vermicelli) accompanied by peanut sauce, Pho Tom (Shrimp Pho Soup), and Bánh Mì Gà Nướng (Vietnamese Grilled Chicken Sandwich). The summer roll was good, and their peanut sauce had the perfect texture and flavor. The pho’s broth and noodle texture were delicious and went so well in cold weather. As a first-timer, the banh mi sandwich, although simple-looking, was also delicious and both tender and juicy with the pickled veggies. The bread had a nice crunch on the outside. To my surprise, it also contained slices of jalapeño, which weren’t listed, and I took those off. Food arrived at the desired time for noon if one lives or works near them. Prices were reasonable, and portion sizes were relatively good. We were satisfied with the outcome of the delivery and will continue to recommend this place. ———————— If you are in the mood for phở, live or work nearby and don't feel like driving far, look no further but this small Vietnamese 🇹🇭 casual gem in Linden located on Wood Avenue. One of my colleague and I came during lunch and for while had the whole place to ourselves. As a starter, we began with the summer roll (Gỏi cuốn) consisting shrimp with lettuce & rice vermicelli wrapped in rice paper served cold and accompanied by their delicious peanut sauce which was creamy, sweet, and nutty. For the main dish, we both ordered phở - Pho Tai Gan (Eye-Round Steak & Tendon Beef) and Pho Tai (Half done beef filet). Their pho arrived hot and was decent wouldnt say it was the best I have ever had but definitely not the worst on this first day of winter. The food is always fresh, portions were just right and the service okay. They deserve your money as much as you deserve their fantastic eats which we can recommend.

The food was good and the restaurant was clean.

Service was kind of bad, but great foods at affordable prices. Pho broth hit the spot! Thick enough but not too greasy. Spring rolls are well wrapped filled with shrimps, vegetables, and vermicelli noodles. Service wise, it took more than 10 mins to be seated in spite of few dining in people. The server wasn't really kind. Also, I had to go to the casher to check out.

I decided to visit this place after looking at online reviews and their menu. With a fairly spacious dining area, this establishment offers dine in and take out options. I opted to take out. I asked for the lunch special menu, but was told they do not have one. I visited on 8/5/24. I'm guessing online photos of the menu were much older. So I decided to order the duck. However, the staff person asked if I've ever had it. I said no and she recommend I not order it. I didn't understand this, because if I never try it, I'll never be able to answer yes. Anyway, I took her advice and got the grilled chicken with lemongrass, cucumber and bean sprouts over vermicelli. The portion was big for sure. The dish was not very fragrant. A dressing came on the side. The dish is marked as having peanuts, which it did. It also is noted that it's spicy, which it's not. I tried the chicken and am fairly certain it is boneless thighs. It was flavored very well and tasted fresh from the grill with a little char. The dressing added to this. The dish however was rich in chicken and vermicelli, although the cucumber and bean sprouts were sparse. They forgot to add lemongrass or made the mistake of adding mint. The peanuts were also lacking. It was a disappoinment that the lemongrass chicken had no lemongrass. The dish was tasty, but not what I wanted. Aside from the food, the business has tough to find street parking but ample parking in the rear. They have a sign up that you must spend over $13 to use a credit card. At some point, the cook stepped out of the kitchen and I was glad to see she had a hair net on, but did not have gloves on. She wasn't cooking, so I'm not going to say she never wears gloves. Their chopsticks are very nice, not the cheap ones you normally get. They do need to add more than 1 napkin to your Togo orders.

Another week on the road. This week let’s pho 🍜. There were five other patrons on site when I arrived. The server told me to sit anywhere. The first thing I noticed is that it is quite dark in the dining area. I ordered the half done beef fillet pho and the pork banh mi, hot tea and ice water. I received everything but my water ( for the water, I had to flag the server down as she returned to the kitchen after bringing another table their food). Impressions: The banh mi is flavorful but very skimpy with the pork. The pho was also pretty light with the beef. I found the broth to be pretty bland overall. I typically add siracha and hoisin to my pho (after I sample it to see how much is needed). I ended up mostly tasting the sauces… The most flavorful thing I had was the hot tea. It was hot and strong. I received a small pot that continued to steep as I ate. Not my best experience but I am no longer hungry 😋. One last thing, I guess I need to go to the counter to pay. I have been waiting to see the server for more that 10 minutes…

I’ve ordered from here countless times but this is the first I’ve had the bun bo hue. It’s the most flavorful BBH i’ve ever tasted. Has a nice level of spice to it. Will be my go-to order from now on. The chicken bahn mi is always a staple in my order.

Yelp
I always love visiting Pho Minh's. I cannot believe it isn't busier because the food is delicious and the serving sizes are generous. I haven't had a bad experience yet! The food is always hot and delivered to your table quickly. I love the fried spring rolls, the vermicelli dishes and all the phos I have tried. It is clean inside the restaurant. I always see the same woman working, and I once forgot a bag there and she held onto for me until the next time I was there to eat again. I didn't even realize I had left the bag there so it was a pleasant surprise and really spoke to the character of her. Makes you feel good to give business to good people. :) It is street parking if you go but I've never seen an issue with space. It is close to a small thrift shop and some other little shops. I really recommend you stop by. I've been coming for about two years now.

Yelp
I came in really excited and craving beef and noodles. I asked for recommendations based on that craving and was told the only option was a beef soup. I explained that I didn't want soup and asked if there were any noodle dishes instead. I was told no. After sitting down and looking through the menu more carefully, I found exactly what I was looking for a beef and noodle dish. I went back up to order it, excited again, and was told I couldn't order it because I wouldn't like it and that it was "only for Vietnamese people." I even asked for clarification because I couldn't believe what I heard. She then said many people have returned the dish, so she wasn't going to make it for me just for me to not eat it. It was an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience. I simply replied that they would not be receiving my business and left. TRASH

Yelp
What a nice find. Truly passionately momma cooking with flavors that mimic my own beverages @drinkklaus on Instagram. Delicious and simple with savory ingredients. Lemonade is freshly made and the duck is savory and deeply spiced. I recommend this restaurant highly! Can't wait to dine here again.

Yelp
Review for delivery only. This is one of our go-to's for Vietnamese delivery when the craving hits - it's always tasty and reasonably priced (even for delivery!). I like to mix it up and order between the pho, rice dishes, or vermicelli bowls, and everything has always been nice and satisfying. I've also tried their Thai tea and it's a bit sweet but a still a treat. I can't speak to the actual in-store restaurant experience, but would recommend for delivery.

Yelp
I was in the mood for some pho, especially with the rainy weather this weekend. The restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived, so I decided to order to-go. The staff was friendly and prepared my order quickly. Once home, we were glad to have large bowls to mix everything in. The broth was flavorful, though I wish there had been more toppings and protein. It's possible the portion size is limited by the to-go containers, and it might be different when dining in. Overall, the meal was good, nothing extraordinary, but satisfying. Also side note, their boba drink was amazing, plenty of boba and perfectly cooked too!

Yelp
Came here with work place associates for lunch. we haven't been here for many years. I think ownership changed. Service was not so great but the food was tasty. Street parking may still difficult to find but still worth coming here.

Yelp
Came here to try the Sandwich and I gotta say, they put me on to adding Cilantro on sandwiches! It adds an extra tasty crunch! However, I do wish they put more meat into their sandwich. 90% is filler and bread but the flavor packs a punch! That would be my one critique and they give you extra lettuce and cilantro shoots if u want to add more which I did! The pork was tasty with a yummy marinade but very thin and not enough slices. If they gave you thicker slices or more pork this would be 10/10 sandwich! Service is something I can't really say much about since my order was for pick up. But I'll definitely try to sit down and enjoy some Pho if I get the chance. Also, I had their Summer rolls which are fried and come in an order of 5. Soooo good! So much meat/filling that's not just cabbage! These are definitely above Chinese take out Egg rolls. They got solid rolls, I don't think I'll ever get Chinese Egg rolls again! Ambiance reminds me of an old Chinese buffet with the same kind of Decor, very outdated, sort of Dim environment. They need to freshen up the wallpaper or do something to make it more inviting! If they do that it would be a solid 4 stars for me.

Yelp
The peanut for summer rolls isn't great taste . The spring roll is alright nothing special about it. The beef noodle soup tasty and spicy just too little meats. Place is quiet and simple. Service is great.

Yelp
best pho, haven't tried the other items but everyone I know adores their stuff. priced wonderful, always quiet and comfortable. server is quick and attentive, food comes quickly as well. great to catch up with a friend and have an affordable but great bowl

Yelp
Three star for the best. Stale noodle, over cooked shrimp, soup probably is not made from beef, tastes more like hot water with added flavor.. underwhelming environment

Yelp
The food is good, the price is right and the parking is good. No complaints. When trying to be low carb, I am able to just get extra bean sprouts in my pho. My favorite is the pho with the grilled chicken and taro bubble tea.

Yelp
I've gotten their drinks here many times and they always come out fresh and cool, perfect for a summer day. I bring my friends here all the time and we always appreciate the kind service as well as a calm and comforting environment. Definitely recommend the Thai milk tea over the Green Tea though. Cheers!

Yelp
Came in around 5:30 on a Tuesday evening - we were the only customers. But soon after, the dinner rush started trickling in. Seems to be a local favorite - good prices, big servings, hearty pho for the breezy fall weather. Staff is kind, food comes out quick. Share the extra big bowl of pho with my friend. Summer rolls were great. Vietnamese rolls were flavorful. I'd definitely eat here again.

Yelp
I just ordered lunch from here and I already know I'm going back for dinner! In town for a couple of days and of course I searched for a Vietnamese restaurant, as it's my favorite cuisine. I placed an order through their website online which was very easy to do. Got a small spring roll and they gave me four small rolls which is what you would pay for two in the DC area so such a great value. Did I mention they were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious?!?!?! Also ordered garden rolls with shrimp and they were perfect, too; stuffed full of quality ingredients. Also got a coconut bubble tea which was amazing; not too sweet and very flavorful. Getting pho and vermicelli noodles for dinner for sure!

Yelp
Passing through the area and decided to stop for lunch. Inside you'll find your basic pho place. Clean and orderly. Service was prompt and polite. Two steamy bowls of pho for us. Perfect portion size for lunch. Chicken pho was delicious. Beef was good too.

Yelp

Yelp
Never been in to a restaurant that give you horrible service they are very rude you can not sit in at this place we ask the waiter for just alittle more of the fish sauce just because they give us like 1 tablespoons for 3 people's and at the end the charge you extra I was like wtf never in my life I get charge for extra sauce. Never ever again come back to this place. Very horrible service very rude I wish I could just give zero star.

Yelp
BUG IN SOUP! Bit into something that tasted off and it was a green bug! I'm completely grossed out. Called and they said they'd give refund but really how does this happen? Health department should be in there stat

Yelp
This place is a gem for the size, taste and quantity of Pho. So close to Linden station and there's always street parking available. We hopped in on a weekday night to find two ladies working - one in the kitchen, one managing the customers. And probably for the same reason we weren't seated by anyone coz they been working all round. The menu isn't vegetarian friendly, most of the items calls out chicken/ beef/pork etc . Ordered the veggie pho with veggie broth (yes it's not on the menu but you can ask them to replace with a veggie broth) and it's so so delicious. It came in with lots of veggies - cabbage, carrots , big chunks of broccoli and the broth itself was so flavorful. My husband also ordered the chicken broth Pho with chicken and he got the bigger portion of it for an additional $ 2.50. We also ordered the honeydew slushy milk tea but it was forgotten . Thankfully we were so full with Pho it was best to be left out. The noodles on both were smooth af and literally with the bite . Overall, I would definitely rate 10/10 for the fast, the service can be better , but when you have a hot bowl of pho in you, you can probably overlook that as well! The book turned out to be $25 We will def return and recommend , especially now that the cold season is coming in.

Yelp
A modest establishment way outside of the Time Out New York radius, Pho Minh's is the kind of surprising flavor emporium that inspires me to take random trains. I didn't select one of the 22 pho options as I was in a banh mi mood, in this case grilled pork. Sauce enthusiasts will enjoy the spicy mayo-type offering on the shrimp skewer, which was similar to or the same as on the sandwich. There's sriracha at the table but also a super-bold home brew.

Yelp
I ordered take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. I ordered the beef pho and every item came packaged separately. The broth was separate, then a bag with sprouts, jalapeño, greens and lime and the meat, onions and noodles were also separate. It came with utensils, chopsticks and two sauces. I was really impressed. The broth was very flavorful and toppings were plentiful. There was A LOT of noodles, enough for two meals. I wish there was more meat though. The Thai iced tea was good too. I will definitely be back. Dining area looked decent and it was pretty empty on a week night.

Ken L.

Yelp
Very terrible service . Asian lady had a bad attitude with a rude face . Just 10 mins ago tonight . the minutes I walked in the waitress saw me and pretended the I was transparent and turn her head went inside soda machine taking ice while let me waited in dining area looking like a fool getting no service and another minutes gone by . She was still taking ice and then I walked from waiting areas to her and said . One person please and then she said with a rude face and high pitch " COULD YOU WAIT IN THE TABLE " god .. i don't deserve this attitude . I owe her nothing just want to give her business and get a quick mail that's all . I said terrible attitude and walked out . I'm Asian Chinese .

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time over the weekend after finding this spot on YELP. Plenty of street parking was available and it was a nicely decorated restaurant complete with fish tank. We were told to choose any seat we would like. We ordered a pot of hot tea while looking over the menu and the tea was really tasty. We ordered some crispy spring rolls, a bowl of Pho, and I had the B11 Vermicelli with spring rolls and grilled pork. The spring rolls were ok, just a little on the greasy side. I was told the Pho was good, pretty standard. As for my vermicelli I really didn't care for it. The noodles were on the cool side and the pork was very thin strips... kind of reminded me of a jerky so after tasting it I just picked the rest of the pork out of the dish. It wasn't something I would order again. The staff was nice and friendly.
google avatar

Desiree F.

Yelp
I been here a couple times but this is my first review. I order my food over the phone and arrived to find street parking available. There is only street, meter parking available. When I walked in I was greeted and my food was ready. This place is a bit pricey and I paid almost $14 for the food. I paid and the lady that served me was nice. When I got home I dug in and it was good. I added a little of their chilli sauce for some kick. A good experience.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
I get takeout here very often and dined in once. I love their pho and also often get their shrimp bun non-soup noodles dish which is amazing. The shrimp is a little spicy and pairs well with the noodles and pickled veggies. The noodles are so chewy/bouncy unlike other places which is so good! The pho takeout is good and they include all the extra toppings/mix ins. Great to microwave for about 1 minute after assembling the soup.
google avatar

Yelp
Sandwich was very good. Fast service Would go again Banh Mi Sandwich was great Price was reasonable

Bennie S.

Yelp
The food is great...They are very authentic. As I cam from an asian country, but their food is better than what we have had back in my home town. I would say if they run the businss in Vietnam, their food can still beat the competition. The food is not just great, but every dish is a great dish and they are consistently great! I love their food and I can eat there every day, as there are so many different dishes and all very delicious!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Delicious! Bangin bahn mi, and they always hook it up with extra hoisin sauce!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Imelda M.

Yelp
The food is actually very good but the young woman working there is the rudest person I've ever met. I thought probably it's a cultural thing but then I met other young Vietnamese women and it's just that woman at Pho Minh's LInden that is rude! I've noticed that she's polite to white people though. I don't know if she's just having problems with my non-white skin because I was very polite to her despite her being rude to me. They would do better business if they keep the rude young woman away from serving and getting orders. My friends certainly don't want to go back there ever after the rude treatment received.
google avatar

Uzma K.

Yelp
I had went here with pretty high expectations because I liked how the bahn mi's looked so good from the pictures I saw on yelp. I got the grilled pork and beef bahn mi with house made lemonade (which is bomb soooo good!!) and the avocado shake they have. I was craving an avocado shake and it satisfied that. I have actually been here before maybe a year or two ago and tried the pho which was good. The bahn mi sandwich is very refreshing to have because it has fresh and pickled veggies in it. It could've used some kind of sauce like a spicy mayo or something but other than that I enjoyed it. The staff is nice, its on a main road so there is parking if your lucky you find one on the Main Street but better luck on the side streets. I definitely want to try other things when I go here again, they have more than just meat bahn mi's which is interesting because I've never seen a founder bahn mi on a menu before but it's something worth giving a try. Also they sell the sandwich at an affordable price they vary from 5.95+ of course depending on what meat you choose. This is a solid Vietnamese restaurant, authentic food.

Kenneth Q.

Yelp
I'm not Vietnamese and I've only eaten pho like twice in my life but it was amazing. Fresh vegetables, flavorful broth, idk what sauces they provide but I put all of them and it was amazing. The noodles were really good too, all around there was nothing at all to complain about.
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
I am so disappointed ! The spring rolls came out cold and hard so it was like it was kept in the refrigerator rather than being rolled to order . The summer rolls were fine . THE PHO . The blandest pho we've ever had . It had no flavor and the noodles were not your traditional pho noodles , they were more like linguini . They were thicker than your usual rice noodle and the soup to noodle ratio was totally off . The beef was not your typical thin sliced beef eye round but rather weird strips of beef . EveryThing about the pho was so bland . My bf couldn't stop talking about how bland it was even after we left . I am giving the two stars only because the waitress was kind and the place is clean .
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious, eclectic, comfort food The flavor and spices are just what your body is craving. The spring rolls were so fresh and the yellow curry I got was so flavorful with every bite. The bubble tea is also super great! (Not pictured) Recommend the Taro

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese restaurant. Modest prices, big portions, perfect bahn mi and pho. Also the rolls, the crispy shrimp, and squid. Big room for dine-in post-pandemic. Mostly takeout and delivery now. Highly recommended.

Manopo M.

Yelp
Food is excellent. To me, the best broth ever! The broiled pork is amazing too. It's one of my favorite places to go to, if I feel like pho. The only thing is the young woman working there needs to learn more about customer service and be more polite. Thus, the 4 stars
google avatar

Michele L.

Yelp
Pho is soooo delicious especially when the weather outside is soooo cold! A hot bowl of pho will warm you right up. Choose your favorite cuts of protein with their menu and make it an extra large for $2 more. If noodle soup isn't your thing, a rice dish is sure to please. I usually pick anything that comes with a friend egg on top. I also ordered a pork bahn mi which was really satisfying and pretty legit. I always order a sandwich as an appetizer and share with whoever I'm dining with. Love the pho here!

Hannah M.

Yelp
bad customer service, the receptionist attitude was nasty, and we didnt feel the positive energy to be coming there for the first time. To asking questions about the menu, she seemed like she had an attitude. I am good, ill go somewhere else with nicer customer service :)
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a cold night and devoured a large bowl of beef pho in the most ladylike manner. Hit the spot. Fast, cheap, good. Wish this restaurant was my neighborhood restaurant.

Leena T.

Yelp
My fiance and I stopped by here for a late lunch while we were in the area. I had the chicken banh mi while he had chicken pho with beef broth. The chicken in both dishes was crispy and well seasoned, the bread in my meal just as crispy and paired with spicy jalapenos. I'm greedy and do wish it overall had slightly more chicken, but irrespective of this it was a great meal for it's price point. While the chicken pho was apparently not the "best" ever consumed, it was well liked. Our meals were relatively inexpensive with great service altogether. We'd come again if in the area.

Highly recommend this place! Amazing Vietnamese food, always made to order and to perfection! Owner is friendly and staff are also super nice. I highly recommend anything off their menu. My favorite items are the Cha Gio Heo/Ga (crispy deep fried egg rolls), Com Thit Nuong ( Rice & Grilled Pork with lemongrass, cucumbers and tomatoes), Com Ga Nuong Xa ( Rice & Grilled Chicken with lemongrass, cucumbers and tomatoes) , and of course pho. For the Pho, while I am sure all are very tasty, I get Pho Chay - which is the tofu & vegetables. They offer to make it in a vegetable broth, so it is vegan or vegetarian friendly. I can keep going on this place, but it is worth every dime you will spend on a meal. When I am in the area, this is a MUST !

Yelp
If you are in the area, and craving Vietnamese, I guess Pho Minh is ok. My family came here for lunch after a trip to IKEA, since it was close by. I had Pho Minh bookmarked a while back, but never had the opportunity to come since we live so far away. Typical Vietnamese decor. It's not fancy by any means. My family ordered the brisket and filet pho, beef cubes with vermicelli, and oxtail, tomato and onion with sauce. We weren't really impressed with any dish. The pho soup base was sweet, so that was unexpected. The noodles were good, but the meat portion was lacking. The beef cube vermicelli dish was good but they were tiny! The oxtail dish was odd in that some of the oxtail were still tough, while some were softer and fell off the bone easier. As for the flavor, it was covered in sauce so every bite had a tangy flavor, like sweet and sour. I wasn't a fan. Prices were good and service was in an as needed basis. They also serve bahn mi here, but we likely wouldn't feel the need to come back for round 2.

Yelp
This is my go-to pho spot when I come to jersey to visit my family. Super convenient, delicious and well priced. My husband and I love pho, we literally went to Vietnam just because we love it so much. We are always on the look out for good Vietnamese spots in the states. Pho Minh's is the best we found in the area. The pho broth is flavorful but not too salty. Bahn mi has a great baguette and spring rolls are fresh. We come here so frequently that the young guy knows us and remembers our order! Not a fancy place but Vietnamese is rarely that so give it a try if you want a bowl of hot delicious soup!
