Where to Find Standout Food and Drinks in Portland’s West Hills

"Phở Nguyên serves some of the richest, meatiest pho in town. Carnivores will find an impressive list of options including round, flank, tendon, brisket, tripe, and meatballs. For those who aren’t willing to risk driving home with a hot bowl of pho, Nguyen also offers rice and vermicelli plates loaded with crispy grilled pork and shrimp." - Rebecca Roland, Nick Townsend, Thom Hilton

Where to Find Steamy Bowls of Pho in Portland

"For carnivores who judge a bowl of pho based on the amount of meat it contains, Pho Nguyen delivers the beefy goods. Even so, the rich, no-need-for-condiments broth would make this Raleigh Hills restaurant a top contender if there were a Portland pho contest. While the pho doesn’t need extra seasoning, a spoonful of chile oil doesn’t hurt, either." - Janey Wong, Krista Garcia

This Vietnamese restaurant has absolutely ruined Vietnamese rice plate dishes for me. I cannot have com thit nuong (rice with grilled pork) anywhere else. My dad also swears by the pho and he's pretty picky about where he eats. These are all subjective opinions of course though, but they are run by lovely people and are worth a try!

P1. Pho Special ($17.75) and H2. Beef Stew Rice Noodle ($18) are our go-to dishes, and we've been ordering them every time we come here for years. (One time, while we were looking at the menu, our usual server even said, ‘P1 and H2, right?’—that’s how much of a regular order it is for us!🤣) The portions are so generous that we've never been able to finish a whole bowl. The Beef Stew Rice Noodle, in particular, is amazing—it comes loaded with huge chunks of beef, potatoes, and carrots, making it incredibly satisfying. We've yet to find a beef stew this good anywhere else!"🥰

This is my nephew’s favorite place. He has been a regular for years and he is only 4. The Pho is always excellent and awesome service!! We ate and didn’t take any pictures of the food.

In town visiting family. They took us out for lunch. Family owned with friendly service. Food came out fast and hot! Highly recommend for some great authentic Vietnamese food in Portland!

Good food, poor service. They took order quick and delivered it quick, in fact too quickly. I placed the order, used the restroom and food was delivered. The soup was flavorful but not warm enough. I wouldn't even call it hot. Once food was delivered, they stopped coming. You have to go to the front to pick up your own Togo box and make payment. Spacious dining area and lots of parking, behind Fred Meyer.

Authentic and reasonably priced. Has been a new weekly visit. Pho and bun Bo hue are what I normally get. The duck salad and soup was really good as well. Soup incorporated bamboo flavor which is very pleasant.

I’m Vietnamese and I approve this Pho broth. The aroma and flavor are very authentic. I’ve never had Hu Tieu My Tho before, but I’m glad I tried. The dried version has a sweet and salty sauce with it, accompanied by pho broth on the side. The Com Tam Dish is good too. Portions are pretty big!
